I hope you know that literally nobody is going to be able to live up to the standard you, V*v, and Glitch have set and your arrogance and exploitation of your fanbase and connections has screwed millions of creatives out of their dreams because Hollywood is a joke that isn't worth telling and wealthy e-celebs like yourself have claimed the indie scene all to yourselves and moved the goalposts into the stratosphere.
Nope. This isn't a zero sum game. There is not some limited, prescribed number of indie trophy slots that a few studios greedily filled up, blocking everyone else out. That is not how it works. Nothing any other creator is doing - short of personally sending hired goons to your doorstep or stealing your credit cards - is taking anything away from you or preventing your success. In fact if an indie creator can manage to demonstrate that they've got something viable going, it may help to map out a pathway for others.
I think I'm not going to bother trying to address whether or not cartoons in return for support from fans - an entirely voluntary exchange - constitutes exploitation. And I'm living in the Midwest driving a 2007 economy car with 200k+ miles on it, but let's just skip past the assumptions that I'm wealthy and connected too.
Instead, let's get to the weirdly myopic notion that the indie scene is held captive by three studios. Maybe YouTube algorithms or Twitter bubbles are somewhat to blame, but in actuality there are so, so many individual people, friend groups, and small production houses out there making independent animation, I cannot possibly name them all.
Here are some anyway:
Far-Fetched Worthikids Satina | Scumhouse Noodle and Bun Punch Punch Forever Ramshackle Noodle Papajoolia | Pipi Angel Hare | The East Patch Jonni Peppers Salad Fingers Monkey Wrench Studio Heartbreak Felix Colgrave JelloApocalypse Odd1sout (started indie, got picked up by Netflix) Allie Mehner JaidenAnimations Lumi and the Great Big Galaxy Cloudrise | The Worlds Divide Telepurte RubberRoss James Lee ENA Godspeed | Olan Rogers Ollie and Scoops Meat Canyon Port by the Sea Kekeflipnote Boxtown Kevin Temmer Weebl Joel Haver CircleToons Long Gone Gulch Atlas and the Stars Animist Skibidi Toilet A Fox in Space Alex Henderson Talon Toniko Pantoja Sr. Pelo Hullabaloo Kane Pixels (started indie, picked up by A24) Homestar Runner Fennah Gods' School Alan Becker Dungeon Flippers JazLyte Psychicpebbles (started indie, Smiling Friends picked up by AS) Piemations vewn Metal Family Dead Sound chluaid Jacknjellify Betsy Lee | No Evil My Pride Cranbersher GeoExe | Gwain Saga Horatio the Vampire Mech West Playground | Rodrigo Sousa The Brave Locomotive Finchwing (+ many other Warrior Cats animators) Quazies SamBakZa Kamikaze: Trial by Fire
By no means a full list. That's just YouTube, and mostly just English language stuff, and I didn't even get to the multitudes of Warrior Cats animation collabs.
The point is, the indie landscape is vast and populated by creators new and old, making all kinds of animated media from skits, to shows, to ARGs, to films. Audience sizes vary as much as the content, stylistic approaches, subject matter, and budgets do. There are no compliance standards, no gateways to entry, no goalposts. There's not even any preset definition of success except what you decide for yourself.
Anyway, instead of nurturing your resentments, consider making something. I assure you, it's a far more rewarding use of your time and energy, and pretty much no one can stop you. ------------- EDIT- Made some additions to the list based on comments. Thanks!

Moments On Pabu
Tumblr media
Summary: You watch the sunset with Tech Warnings: reader is described as short and smaller than Tech Word Count: 780 Notes: season 3 has broken me and we're only 3 episodes in IM SCARED i have theories and im convincing myself tech is alive (because he is wdym hes dead?) i have so many thoughts its insane (also this may become a lil series idk)
Sunset was the best time on Pabu. Ever since you befriended Phee and she showed you Pabu, you made sure to watch the sunset every night. You made routines and plans around it. With the galaxy at war with itself almost constantly and your life being turbulent before coming to Pabu, the sunset gave you peace and a sense of stability. Things may change around you, but you will always have the sunset.
Phee introduced you to the Bad Batch when they first arrived on the island, and you instantly clicked with Tech. It was a silent connection, but when he smiled back at you, you knew you were going to like him.
He was more reserved compared to his brothers and sister, but he quickly opened up as time went on. You loved listening to him ramble about anything that piqued his interest. You two tended to gravitate to each other, naturally sitting next to each other at gatherings or finding each other around the island and walking together.
That led to you asking Tech if he'd like to join you to watch the sunset.
"Where would we watch it?" He asked in reply to your question. "The beaches and docks tend to be a bit crowded during that time, and I don't particularly enjoy those kinds of situations."
"Don't worry about it, I know a spot where it'll be just us," you quickly replied. "I don't mind if you don't want to go, I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
He thought for a moment, then gave you a small smile. "I suggest we leave now so we don't miss it."
You smiled and took his hand in yours, leading him down the winding paths of the island. You had found the alcove one day when wondering the island, and no one else knew of it. Or at least, they didn't go there.
Tech's eyes widened a bit when you two arrived at the empty beach. The blue waves gently lapped at the shore, filling the alcove with the soft sound of waves crashing. The setting sun made the horizon a beautiful, bright orange while the rest of the sky was still a light blue. You led him closer to the water, showing the setting sun to your left.
"This is a beautiful beach," Tech commented before looking at you, "no one else has found it yet?"
You shook your head with a smile. "Not yet. I usually come here by myself when things get too much or to just watch the sunset. I don't bring anyone here. Well, except for you now."
You noticed how his cheeks turned pink before he looked away.
"I feel honored that I am the first person you brought down here," eh said softly.
Now you felt your cheeks heat up, a contrast to the cool sea breeze. You ignored it, instead taking your shoes off and placing them in the sand. You walked closer to the water, stopping when it just covered your feet. You turned and looked back at Tech, who was watching you.
"C'mon, it's just a little bit cold," you called with a smile.
He returned it and quickly followed your lead. He took his shoes off and joined you in the shallow water. The sun dipped lower and lower as the minutes ticked past. You two watched it from your spots in the water, letting the waves splash against your feet and onto your lower legs.
You took a deep breath, closing your eyes and tilting your head back. The peace of sunset by the ocean always made you happy, and Tech made it so much better.
When you opened your eyes and looked back down, you caught Tech looking at you. You smiled, squinting a bit when the sun got in your eye.
"What is it?" You asked.
"I-it's nothing," he answered, "you just look very...peaceful. And happy."
"I am, but I think I'm really happy because you're here with me," you replied. You reached for his hand and gently took it in yours. "You wanna take a walk down the shore?"
He smiled, ignoring the way his cheeks continued to heat up. He intertwined his fingers with yours. "I would like that very much."
You led him down the shoreline, keeping your feet in the water. You two walked hand-in-hand as the sun continued to set. You glanced over at him and saw him bathed in the golden light from the setting sun. You felt butterflies in your stomach as you looked away, continuing down the shore.
You liked the quiet moments on Pabu, but you liked them more with Tech by your side.

these are angsty times, so i feel like a good angsty blurb about h never making time for you is one idea. but since these are angsty times, then maybe it also calls for fluff so maybe h likes to do one thing different in any of his songs for you every show? kind of like sabrina carpenter’s nonsense outro? so like maybe during keep driving, he always sings something different to you or about you?
pls tell me i’m making sense, i can’t talk i’m too excited
okay hello. of course my first blurb back would be requested at the hands of our very own nova (this is especially for you);
(this is part of the harryshouse!universe too)
It was a known thing that Harry was very much in love with you.
If anything, the poor man was so in love with you he got teased for it. Even the fans were in on some of the jokes. You being a well known Youtuber and social media influencer meant that Harrys doting love was often well publicised.
Actions such as him buying you flowers, him making you dinner or taking you out for a fancy dinner would be shown on your Instagram for fans, and everyone else, to see. However, simple things like stolen kisses, hand-written love notes and 3AM ice-cream runs for you were actions that you kept secret and close to your heart.
Those actions were yours and Harrys alone.
There were some actions, however that were made overtly public so even people that didn't have Instagram or follow you would hear of.
Some of Harrys love declarations made National news headlines.
Specifically the changing of lyrics at his concerts.
Like stated, it was no surprise that the love Harry had for you would cause him to do some crazy things, but Harry changing his lyrics on stage would always be on of the greater, funnier, gestures for you. What's more, is they were as public as they came.
It started with 'Keep Driving'. In New York, night 3.
Nobody was expecting the show to be any different musically to the night before, except for when he changed the lyrics to 'Keep Driving'. At first the fans thought he was singing a different song, but afterwards, through re-watching videos, they came to learn the new lyrics he'd made.
"Cocain, Y/N's boob. I choke her, with a sea view."
When you had come to realise what he had sung you had gone red in the face.
"Harry!"
He knew he was in trouble just from the fact you used his full and proper name, rather than he loving nicknames you used for one another.
"In the kitchen, love." He answered back, swivelling on the barstool chair to face the door you would come through.
When he saw you, you were red in the face and were shaking your head with a sarcastic grin. Harry smiled as he watched you walk over to him, dressed in one of his tour jumpers and a pair of joggers.
You stopped in front of him and he immediately brought you closer, sliding his warm hands underneath the jumper and running them up and down your back.
"What's with the pout, hm?" He asked.
"You know." You challenged him, wanting to see whether he did or did not in fact know.
"If it's about the fact I bought you Galaxy instead of Cadbury's chocolate, again, i've already apologised five times." He groaned.
"It's not about that actually," You shook your head, "But you should know that no amount of apologies will fix that problem."
Harry smiled and shook his head at you. "Then what, baby?"
You turned your phone around and showed him a video of the previous night on stage, singing the new version of ‘Keep Driving’. He nodded his head along to the music and you noticed no sense of regret or guilt to what he had done.
You looked expectantly at him once you’d finished showing it to him.
“Well?”
“Well what?”
“What the fuck was that? You basically outed the fact that I am a very kinky lady.”
Harry snorted a laugh. “Baby, you’re not a lady if you let me choke you.”
“So you both admit and are okay with how you sang that verse.”
“Uh everyone knew the song was about you anyways, love. It’s not that hard to figure it out, since I’ve only ever been in love with you.” He counter argued, making very good points.
“Well now they’re starting a fan project to sing that line instead of the original version.” You grumbled. “So they’re collectively singing about my boobs and you choking me.”
He didn’t day anything but just smiled.
You pushed away from him but he was quick to grab your hand and pull you even closer back to his chest.
“At the end of the day, I’m only choking you.”
And at that, he had pretty much won the argument - later proving his last remark to you.
Since that ‘Keep Driving’ impromptu lyric change, Harry has been clever in building them into the rest of the set. He doesn’t make the lyric changes every night on stage, even if the fans do sing the new version, but sometimes he’ll be spontaneous and create a new one.
“If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you. Y/Ns the spoon, dip them in honey so I could be sticking to youu.”
There was even one show where he saw you standing with a tub of ice-cream and he came over to sing to you:
“Is that ice-cream edible, ‘Cause my stomach’s not that full. Can I have a little taste? Just a taste?”
Before he leant down to taste the ice-cream and screamed ‘oh yeah’ afterwards whilst he continued to dance.
Never was there quite someone who showed their love for their partner, the way that Harry did for you.

i jus' wanna stare into satoru's eyes until i fall asleep
his eyes literally have galaxies in them. imagine just laying in bed—cuddled up in blankets, rain pouring against the window—with satoru next to you. he is holding one of your hands and you're just staring at each other in the dimly lit room.
his eyes are the only light except for the cheap lamp flickering over your heads. they're shining in a blue, gentle kind of shade. like the night sky on a really clear night. but even that doesn't really get close to them.
because you can see stars in his eyes. tiny specks of light amidst the clouds in them.
and you can never see the stars in tokyo's sky. you need to go far far away to be able to do that.
every time he blinks, the room gets just a little darker, just a little colder. as if his eyes actually radiate some kind of warmth. you know it's a little stupid to think that way, but you can't tear your gaze away from them and satoru isn't complaining about it either.
so you watch as the clouds in the deep-blue sea shift around, revealing new patterns and designs each time—you could probably see cloud shapes in his eyes if you wanted to. maybe, if it was a different time and day, you'd point at them and say something like “that one's a pig!” just to rile him up a little. but not tonight.
not when everything's so quiet and it feels like you're being hypnotized. like looking away would make you miss a shift in them that you definitely wanted to see, like you could look away for a second and the warm blue summer evening in his eyes would disappear into a cold winter night.
but as your own eyes slip shut you realize that maybe it isn't a warm summer evening at all, but instead the universe itself in his eyes. with little colourful specks of stardust——
——but you fall asleep before you can actually come to a conclusion and when you wake up the next day, satoru has his blindfold snugly fixed on his face and all that beautiful vastness is hidden behind it.

Your post about your Damerey origins got me curious... I've never gotten into x-files fics, but I did watch the show in reruns and there was just... no one cooler than Dana Scully (except Batman, but like... he was fictional and Dana seemed like a real person to me b/c my delusions started early in my life).
I've really been mulling over a re-watch. I'm a completist and would have no choice but to watch it top to bottom, movies and all.
Buuuuut.... do you have any favorite season arcs or episodes?????
Wow, this question really made me think. Honestly, this show was so much a part of me for so many years, it's hard to imagine that I haven't watched a single episode in years! Coming here to Tumblr and connecting with people who are current fans has helped my inner Phile reemerge, and I too crave a re-watch. And like you, I'd have to start from the beginning.
I can't say I have a favorite arc. Obviously the Cancer arc was the most important, but as a whole I've just always considered the series as one story (kind of like Star Wars; it's hard for me to watch just one movie, I have to watch them all). I can point out episodes I love from every season, although I will admit Season 6 is probably my overall favorite, hopeless romantic that I am.
I absolutely adore the first movie, Fight the Future, and can watch that over and over and over. I saw it in theaters 5 times, which tied a record for me that wasn't broken until The Force Awakens came out.
Tumblr media
My three favorite episodes are:
Pusher
Tumblr media
Triangle
Tumblr media
Beyond the Sea
Tumblr media
Other eps I know by heart include: Ice, Irresistible, War of the Coprophages, Grotesque, Paper Hearts, Small Potatoes, Bad Blood, Folie a Deux, Monday, The Unnatural, En Ami, Je Souhaite, This is Not Happening/Deadalive, Audrey Pauley, and Improbable. I enjoyed parts of the revival, but not enough to really get into it, and I was not happy with what they did to William, so I have trouble accepting Seasons 10 and 11 as canon. I loved seeing David and Gillian together again, but I wish they had stayed with Monster of the Week episodes instead of making the Conspiracy even more confusing and unbelievable than it already was. Also hate what they did to Monica and Skinner. So, yeah...
Anyway, this show truly changed my life. It gave me the best friends in the world, as we met on-line over 20 years ago and are still friends to this day. Here we are through the years; the first one we are on the Queen Mary, where they filmed Triangle, back in 2007. The last was my 50th birthday last year at Galaxy's Edge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, it's what first got me started in fanfiction.
I may be devoted to Damerey, but I will always be a Phile and proud to be an original shipper.

A collection of some [not all] of SRC's Great and King elder dragons, being the most important ones in Cierian history. All of these dragons, except for Aeon, are members of functionally extinct species and are the last [or one of the last] of their kinds.
In some cultures, elder dragons are also referred to as titan dragons, hinting at their immense size compared to the average size of their known species. They are dragons who have lived many lifetimes, with the youngest one here [aside from Kosenta] being Sh'kavor at approximately 2,000 years old. Dragons marked in red in the following paragraphs are deceased, while dragons marked in green are still alive.
Mustora is considered the most famous of all elder dragons, let alone the mighty King Elder Dragons. She is the one responsible for the calamity that wiped out 40% of organic life during the dragon war. After her destructive rampage, she went dormant for thousands of years, the only remnant of her existence being the scar she left on the eastern continent and the Boiling Range that protected her resting place. Nowadays, Mustora has passed away after the birth of her single offspring, Kosenta.
Kosenta, roughly translating to "little god" in Draconic, is an infant of Mustora's species that is currently under care at Filokensia National Park. Being raised by stickmen and other more sociable dragons has the environmentalists in hope that Kosenta, when she is fully grown, will choose to protect the world rather than destroy it.
Emper is a cruel and vile elder dragon who is over 7,000 years old, and also the smallest adult one here. He holds great resentment for humanity, choosing to disguise as a stickman to protect himself and his kingdom. He resides on Skoteinó Island, north of The Dojo, where he is king of a small but self-sufficient population that serves him and him only.
He is known for his manipulative and aggressive tactics that keep him in power, and has been noted to have many soulbound servants to his name. While he is an elder dragon, few know his true identity, and those who do rarely keep their ability to talk about it.
Sh'kavor is the great elder dragon of the deep seas, who watches over the oceans he resides in. He has chosen Professor Valor as his patron caregiver and romantic partner, with her being the determined mother of his two children, Chulluk and Kashta. Sh'kavor is known to be shy to anyone who isn't Valor, and rarely surfaces except to visit her.
Deep underneath the surface where he lives, he is the lord of a society composed entirely of draconian merfolk and deep sea dragons. Little is known about the society due to humanity's inability to reach that far down and deep sea dragonkind being unable to surface without the resulting pressure changes killing them.
Su'tuun is a kind and hospitable King Elder Dragon who calls Magmus Ridge his home. He is rarely seen as well, though it is due to the fact that Magmus Ridge itself is near inhospitable to humanity and not due to his own shyness. When he is visited by anyone, he is known to be extremely kind and willing to talk for hours on end.
Due to his kindness, however, he is also known to be a bit of a coward and will refuse all combat in favor of protecting himself. Somehow, that has earned him the favor of several irritable dragons, including Galactus.
Galactus is a dragon of legend. While he is no longer on Cier's ball of rock, and instead out wandering space, he has left a large and permanent scar on Cier's history. Not only did he destroy the Kuduvens, now known as The Lost Kingdom, he was also the one who kickstarted the great dragon war. Mustora chased him off of Cier, and he has not returned since. The death of Mustora makes the ever-present threat of Galactus's return much more terrifying, though.
Galactus can warp space around him, going anywhere he pleases in the visible galaxy. There are rumors that he is an alien from deep space in the first place, but the long-forgotten truth is that he is a dragon that came from Cier itself. He is capable of harnessing purifying light beams with the same destructive power that killed nearly half of Cierian life, and somewhere deep in space it is likely that he is terrorizing other alien planets for the sake of his own amusement.
Aeon was a dragon known for her strict and seemingly contradictory self-image, having a reputation of cursing those who dared offend her presence. She was a chronowyrm, a member of the only species on Cier that can [or at least, is allowed to] harness time manipulation. She was known to all as the Timekeeper of Cier, protecting timelines from those who were trying to abuse them. She and her Chronowyrm kin all exclusively live in The Veil and the Eye of Chronos, a mysterious and poorly-explored area that is said to mess with the mind and sanity of those exploring.
Aeon is now sufficiently deceased and the role of Timekeeper has been taken by her successor, one of her many dozens of children. While chronowyrms are effectively immortal and do not die from age [as it comes with being tied to time], they are susceptible to physical damage and she was killed by a vengeful Aukkora, assisted by the alien dragon Ellyra, the Godhunter.
The Unknown Ice Dragon is a mysterious figure located deep in Nieran ice caves. This dragon was killed by ancient magic known as Dragonsbane, and its frozen corpse remains locked in a stasis state with hundreds of smaller dragons living on and around it. This dragon is the biggest known King Elder Dragon to ever exist, though little else is known about it- what does get passed around is no more than legend. The name given to the corpse by the dragons who live around it appears to be Juanadaar, roughly meaning "old king".

So me and @sorayume24 did an art challenge
Tumblr media
The line art, artstyle and ocs are by me
The coloring, rendering and color pallette is by @sorayume24
I love how yume colored them AHHHHHH
The starain twins...
Shilou.. shy, sweet yet scary. She simply has a mermaid coral motif and studies the astrological sea aura (ASA) which is a phenomenon that appears when a person can step into the ocean without sinking, and each step creates a reflection of the starry galaxy
Shilah is cold, strict and pompous but is caring, independent. Like shilou, she has a mermaid motif except instead of the coral, it's crystals. She is an underwater treasure hunter, certainly amazed by what fine riches, rarities and beautiful trinkets she can find.
Estrella asterisk is cheerful, chill, happy go lucky yet aloof. She came from the stars not knowing what she is, is she a human? No, humans definitely don't have horns! She is on the journey to find herself. She enjoys putting on a puppet show, and is very curious about the sea although she is not allowed to go due to her being different than others, she was taken to be part of a freakshow. But whenever she can sneek out, she wears a mask to shapeshift into a fox to explore, maybe she might consider escaping.
Tumblr media
Luca is an assistant at the freakshow, possibly gay for Estrella.
Kotonako, 13 year old spoiled princess who actually isn't into being a princess or queen at all but quite likes music and skating instead.
(While I was doing this in draft, I saved it.. but it didn't save so now I had to do it all over again but it's 11 at night so that's why it's pretty brief.)

Would be that my favourite adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen is the space opera which is basically Dune if it was on a ocean planet instead of a desert, 'Gerda' is the 'Snow Queen's' clone, she and 'Kay' are on a quest to become sibyls (basically Sense8 several decades early), 'Kay' becomes the 'Snow Queen's' consort and is known as 'Starbuck'
(it was the 80s and the massive coffee chain was yet to come, but still, yeeeah...)
'Gerda' has to battle her way across the galaxy to get back to 'Kay'...except that she doesn't really do anything except transported from place to place, 'Kay' slaughters a whole bunch of sentient sea-dwelling creatures for their MacGuffin blood, and 'Gerda's' secondary love interest is the book's equivalent of the reindeer who helps her escape from the Robber Girl.
Bet you didn't expect that last bit.

Reverse Inheritance
[Set in @ailingwriter's Post-Rus AU]
“Whoa!”
“Sorry about that!”
“It’s alright…” Palina sighed, slowly walking through Jubilife Village, being careful to not step on or through anything important. Rebuilding was going at a decent pace, and she was - “Look out!” - getting by rather well.
Except for the size.
Everyone had shrunk down after Akari had gone to see Arceus (who was apparently the actual Almighty Sinnoh), except for her. Everyone had gotten smaller and weaker, when she hadn’t. And as a result, she felt like she was in a world made of paper - one wrong move, and someone would be hurt (Or worse…she didn’t like thinking about “worse”).
“Whoa!” “Hey!” “Watch it, kid!” Wait, that wasn’t about her. A look towards the source revealed an orange-and black blur.
“MOMMA!” Ruff! Wow, the young Lord had definitely been getting stronger. His Warden laughed, gently moving him from the front of her neck to her back.
“Heh, see all you want to see for now?” She got a soft nuzzle in return.
“More or less! I just really wanted to be with you Momma.” Palina couldn’t help but chuckle, heading towards the main hall. Most mothers wouldn’t let their children out of sight for so long, but then again most mothers weren’t adopting a young future Lord who had already survived on his own for a while.
She’d honestly expected him to come back during the meeting, but…this way she could keep an eye on the pup. Hopefully the others wouldn’t mind her adopted son coming along…
And then her lip was bit. Iscan actually hadn’t met the young Lord yet, at least not since the rebuilding began. Then again, she hadn’t seen him either…his new form didn’t lend itself well to the rebuilding process, so instead he and Lord Basculegion had worked with the others who had wound up aquatic Pokemon. They had talked since Akari’s fateful meeting with Almighty Sinnoh, but even then it was only via messenger.
It was partially her fault, at least - and Iscan, thank Sinnoh, understood. The trauma from the prior Lord Arcanine’s death hadn’t fully left her yet, and once the youngling decided that she’d adopted him, swimming lessons seemed like the worst possible idea. But she’d not been able to work up the nerve to tell her boyfriend that she was technically a mother now - well, she’d hinted at it once or twice, but it was so subtle it had to have gone over the Basculegion’s head…
A sad sigh escaped her muzzle, her charge looking down at her face with confusion. This would be the first time they’d be able to meet up with Iscan since the Pokerus subsided… it had been agreed that Jubilife Village would be the best meeting ground for inter-clan events, given it was the base of the (relatively) neutral Galaxy Team. And they were going to meet to discuss how the reconstruction was going, as well as what modifications would need to be made.
…hopefully she wasn’t going to be the focus of many of those modifications.
—--
An hour and a half in, and Palina had learned one thing about these meetings: They got packed fast.
She could see a flick of piscine scales here and there through the sea of fur and feathers, but the only Basculegion she could get a clear view at all of was the Lord. It was…honestly somewhat frustrating. That and she barely had room to fidget without bumping into somebody, but to her that wasn’t as big a deal.
There were others who found the tight quarters very frustrating, however. “With all due respect, Ms. Cyllene, do you intend for this to be the final size of the meeting house?”
The Abra sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Originally, yes. However, we forgot to include the Nobles in our plans, which is why our current situation is so…cramped.” A cough. “Thus, we will be revising those plans once this meeting concludes. It will set us back some, but future gatherings will be simply impossible with this kind of space.” A chorus of agreement sounded in reply, and Palina joined in with a couple barks of her own.
Her “son”, however, wasn’t as happy. “...They aren’t upset with you for being so big, right Momma?”
What else could she do but look back and give the youth a gentle lick? “Of course not, dear. My size isn’t the lone issue here, after all.”
He sighed in relief. “Oh, thank Arceus. I was worried they were upset because you got to be a Noble…”
If Ingo could see into Palina’s mind right now, he  would describe its current state as a “train crash”. “...what?”
A blink so cute it almost distracted the Warden from what had been said. “What what?”
The pup remained oblivious to the ceased chatter in the room, alongside every eye falling on the two of them. Palina was not, but she had a bigger problem. “...W-what did you say?”
“Oh! I said I was worried they were upset because you got to be a Noble.” And suddenly everyone had something new to talk about. Loudly, and in a very unorganized manner.
“Erm, excuse me!” Those words cut through the chatter and jabber, forming a dam to let their speaker weigh in on matters. “You…do realize it makes no sense for Palina to be a Noble, right?” The Professor ruffled his feathers, gently approaching. “The status of Noble is passed down along one’s bloodline. As much as Miss Palina has cared for you, she’s not a blood relation, so…”
“So?” The youth jumped back in, blinking. “She’s Momma. Papa said that my other Momma could be a Lady if he had to leave before I was ready.” The room chilled slightly at the implications, before heating back up as thoughts veered back to the topic at hand.
“Y-you’re saying…” Palina gulped, shock gluing her eyes on her young charge. “You’re saying I’m filling your father’s role?”
“Yep!” The pup gave a happy bark, oblivious to the mounting confusion in the room. “You’re Lady Momma Palina Arcanine!”
The silly words of a babe were all it took. The dam crumbled, the questions and worries it tried to keep at bay now flooding the room.
Her pup was washed away in the deluge of confusion and debate, falling off his mother and onto…something. Adaman, maybe? Palina really didn’t care. She…she needed to go. And so she did.
Thankfully, her large (Noble…) size meant she had to stand near a door. Thus, the Arcanine was able to just stumble out, ignoring her “son’s” confused yips and barks. Even if she was able to process them, she really needed some time alone.
She was a Noble. That changed everything. She had to keep an eye on territory now. On the rest of the litter. More so than she had as a Warden.
And the offerings - sweet Sinnoh, were the others going to make her offerings?!? Oh that was going to be so awkward… not to mention the whole Warden thing, she’d need a replacement apparently…
Suffice to say, the Arcanine was Freaking Out. And that was just the mildest way to put it...her actual thoughts were best left unmentioned.
“P-Palina?” Ugh, Iscan found her, she’d need to find somewhere else to think-
Wait.
Iscan found her?!?
The Fire-Type whirled around, worries and fears briefly forgotten in her eagerness to see Iscan again. And there he was… At her eye level. Wait, what?? True, the Basculegion was not that small, all things considered - why, he had been the bigger of them before Arceus stepped in! But with how large Palina had stayed, she never expected him to be so close in size! Wait, no, as she looked down she noticed he was hovering off the ground a fair ways… y-yeah, that had to be it. That made more sense. She gave a crooked smile, eyes drifting back up to her lover’s worried visage as he voiced his worries. “...Palina, h-honey…is everything alright?”
“...I…no. Nothing’s alright!” Haunches plopped on the floor as she let a mournful whine, the faked smile giving way to legitimate despair. “I’m a Noble, by Sinnoh’s name! I’m going to have to get offerings now, and patrol my territory, and-and-and…”
“PALINA!” Suddenly, her face was full of fish (And why did that make her blush?), the Diamond Clan member’s eyes boring into her own with surprising intensity. “Palina…y-you’re catastrophizing…”
This was a catastrophe, alright, but… “H-how does that have to deal with all thi-”
“Y-you’re jumping to the worst case scenarios, thinking of the worst that can happen.” His fins gripped her head tighter (Wait when’d they get there?). “I-I know, because…because, well, I do it a lot myself…”
“...Eh?”
A sad sigh as the fish backed away from the dog. “Best example I have… isn’t that current, but… I-I’ve always assumed the worst about Ghost-types in the past. Always thought they’d steal my s-soul or something.” That was common knowledge, sadly. “W-why, I was scared of Lord Basculegion for a while…” That, on the other paw, was not.
“Seriously? You were scared of your Noble, yet you became his Warden?”
“A-actually… it was because I was making progress past my fear of him that I was chosen as his Warden…” A small chuckle. “I’ve always had a talent with fish, so that f-fear was all that stood in the way, really. And…when I realized that my Lord wasn’t technically dead, unlike other Ghosts, it gave me something…of a release. If that was different, then surely more could be different.”
“Wow, that fast huh?”
More laughter. “Oh Sin-Arceus no! Having to watch over him was still as much of a nightmare. And besides, my fears just had less grounding. They weren’t all gone.”
“...But you came around eventually, right?”
A nod. “Y-yeah. Eventually, I got used to my Lord, and realized that he…really wasn’t something to be afraid of.” A small smile. “I…I think you might have to do the same here.”
The Arcanine locked back up at the reminder of her new status. “B-but…it’s not the same…”
“Really? You’ve been thrust into a situation you’re terrified of, and you have no way to tell if it’ll pan out or not… A-am I wrong?” As much as Palina hated to admit it…
“N-no. You…you really aren’t wrong…” A bit lip. Sinnoh, why was she going along with this? Oh. Right. It was Iscan. Her lover. That would be why. “But…this is a much bigger deal…”
A fin tapped her shoulder, snapping her out of her thoughts. Looking up, her eyes met with Iscan’s once more. “Hey. We’re going to be in the same territory. Lord Basculegion and I will help as much as we can…” His smile grew. “And I’m sure the rest of the Nobles will also.”
“...A-alright…” A shudder as she made to stand, wobbly. “I guess we better head back to town now, huh?”
“Y-yeah…” The fish chuckled, gently helping Palina back towards the village. “And, uh, don’t worry about the kid. Lord Basculegion was keeping an eye on him for me.”
“Oh, phew.” Palina sighed in relief, at least the future Lord was being looked after…
Hang on. “Wait, you already knew?” And there she goes, blushing again while her fellow Warden (was that right anymore?) just chuckled. Maybe those hints in her letters weren’t so subtle after all.

The next wave of my favorite of my FFnet bookmarks as I dig through old links. Some have been migrated to Ao3, so I'll provide those links where I can. Though it seems this batch is mostly FFnet links. As always, the story summaries are in my words instead of the author's to convey my own feelings about the fics.
The Weekly Hyrule News by BatNeko - A modern day Legend of Zelda AU. Zelda feels like she can only be herself when she's Sheik, Link's having a bisexual crisis, and Dark Link is too busy enjoying his new day job to care about what Ganondorf wants.
I love the genderqueer take with Zelda and Link getting hit over the head with the fact that he's bi because he's attracted to Zelda whether she's Zelda or Sheik, every moment with Dark, and just… it's a really fun fic that I've read several times and will continue to love forever. The ship is Zelda/Link and the rating is T. Sadly I could not find it on Ao3, so the link points to FFnet.
New Blood in A New Hope by Michael Weyer - First of a four part series. After a spell goes wrong, Buffy, Willow, and Xander find themselves scattered across a galaxy far, far away. And the Empire looms large over them all…
I don't think this series was finished the last time I read it so I'm excited to see the final fic Return of the New Blood is complete. The series does a great job of combining the Buffy characters with the Star Wars universe and it's a lot of fun to have them hanging out with Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie. It's rated T and is found only on FFNet (that I could find, anyway). The ships wind up being Buffy/Luke, Leia/Han, Willow/Kasan Moor, and Xander/Mara Jade, though the first fic of the series is gen.
The Scruff Factor by JastaElf - In which Aragorn's scruffiness becomes an excuse for some highly entertaining elven hijinks of the ridiculous kind.
It's a silly K+ rated fic over on FFnet that is mostly the movie-verse except where it's heavily influenced by the books. An extremely silly fic for having a fun time reading.
Slayers of the Old Republic by Michael Weyer - When Buffy fails to escape the collapsing Hellmouth, she lands in a starship in a galaxy far, far away… just in time to witness Revan's defeat.
Another series by Michael Weyer, though this series is unfinished as it only makes it to the events on the Leviathan (two planets and the Star Forge left to go to complete the KotOR plotline). I still recommend it because it's a really interesting concept that I remember enjoying a lot. It follows the plot of the Knights of the Old Republic pretty closely, but still has a distinctly Buffy stamp on things and it turns out Buffy's not the only one who found her way to other worlds. Rated T and found over on FFnet.
Cry for Hyrule by Seldavia - There are more secrets beneath the seas than the former King of Hyrule wants Link to learn. But Ganondorf intends for Link to learn them anyway.
I particularly like this Wind Waker re-imagining because of how it plays with the idea of good and evil and the importance of knowing one's history. Ganondorf is still the King of Evil from the Ocarina of Time the same way he was in the Wind Waker game, but his character is given a lot more depth here.
The Darkest Gate by Lauhau - When an ancient magical gate opens, it transports Sarah far away to the world between the Underground and the Upper Lands. There an ancient evil seeks to invade both and the only two who stand between their worlds and destruction are Sarah and the strange Goblin King, Jareth.
I actually read this before I saw Labyrinth for the first time - honestly, you don't need to have seen the movie to enjoy it. But knowing the movie makes me smile now on re-read to see the way parts of it have been woven into the plot and background. It's not on Ao3, so the link is to FFnet. The rating is T and the ship is Jareth/Sarah.
Welcome to Stalag 13 by L J Groundwater - Colonel Robert Hogan arrives at Stalag 13 and immediately starts thinking of escape; but when he gets his chance, it seems fate has other plans for him as he's faced with the choice of going home or risking it all to go back and bring the final radio part needed at camp with him.
This is probably one of my favorite takes on how the setup from Hogan's Heroes came about. L J Groundwater wrote a lot of Hogan's Heroes fanfics and, honestly? I recommend every single one. If you're a fan of the show, then Groundwater's fics definitely feel like a series of love letters to what made the show so great. This one is rated T and found on FFnet.
One (Last) Chance by Kirsh - When Time Compression returns Squall to the day of his SeeD exam, he has to admit the reason why. He wants to save Seifer.
I've got a real fondness for FF8 time travel fics - after all the game's premise lends itself to the concept so well. This fic is a good take on it, with Squall trying to keep the timeline on the right path to defeat Ultimecia while trying at the same time to keep Seifer safe and feeling guilty that while he can change things to protect Seifer he's having to make choices that he knows will put others in harms way. I do wish it deviated a bit more from canon, but Squall's struggle with keeping to the timeline is pretty interesting too. It's a Seifer/Squall story on FFnet, rated M.
The Summoner's Knight by Ms_Starlight - Quistis is a Summoner without a Guardian and Seifer intends to change that, whether Quistis likes it or not.
A Seifer/Quistis (FF8 characters) fic set in the FFX universe, with the events of FFX taking place in the background. I do enjoy a good belligerent UST couple; Seifer and Quistis are definitely that in spades. The FFX fusion is well done - you can tell that Ms_Starlight really enjoyed both games a lot. Ms_Starlight's fics look to have all been cross posted to Ao3, which was nice to find. This one is rated T.
This Final Heaven by Ms_Starlight - An excavation into Ancient Centran ruins may be very well bringing about the restoration of Hyne. In order to find the truth, Quistis is going to need the help of former Sorceress Knight, Seifer Almasy. Who isn't exactly all that interested in getting tangled up in SeeD problems again.
This is another Seifer/Quistis fic and drifts into horror a bit in places, particularly with what happens to Squall and Rinoa, since Rinoa's Sorceress powers stem directly from Hyne here. And Hyne is, uh… very much not good. This fic is rated M (because there's sex, not for the mild horror) and is also cross posted to Ao3.

10. The first op I E2′d was Ash. It was a nightmare. I was pretty damn early into the game, and E2ing a 6 star was bad enough, let alone a limited op that required so much high tier elite material. I still remember that I needed D32 Steel and Polymerized Gel for her, just not the quantities of each.
13. I’m not good enough at the game for “troll tactics” but while screensharing with friends I started saying “hold on I’m boutta baba booey this guy” before activating Texas’s S2 on a Sarkaz Lancer right before he hits her at full speed. I had like a 90% success rate with baba booeying the lancers until one of them hit her going full speed and I had to sit there like I just witnessed a car accident. The game is to let them get as close as physically possible before stunning them, and make sure you time it properly because Texas’s S2 won’t stun until the sword actually falls and hits the enemy.
22. Favorite event was Dossoles Holiday by far. Loved the music, the atmosphere, loved Candela, loved the main plot essentially being “triathlon plus terrorism”, really loved that I got Ch’en the Holungday on like my second ten pull that was pretty cool thanks for that Hypergryph. The stickers were also a lot of fun to use, and I think should definitely be brought back at some point.
23. It’d be easy to say Liduke seeing as I’m a huge W simp, and also I love Eunectes and Schwarz, plus Blitz essentially is the reason I even got into the game because I saw him and then went down a rabbit hole that led me into being an Arknights fan. But truth be told, I’m also a big fan of Ryuuzaki Ichi (竜崎いち). Not only do I always think of the Nearls as being incredibly well designed characters, but also they did so many of my favorite outfits. Modeling Night, Serenity, Lone Climber and Seventh Night’s Awakened just to name a few. Still love Liduke’s work as well though.
27. Okay so when they say “soundtrack” I’m not sure if they want like, full ass events, but I’m going to instead share some of my favorite individual tracks from Arknights just because I love them a lot. The answer to favorite event music though is Dossoles Holiday, that’s the easiest answer I could give. Some of my favorite individual tracks, however, include, in order of most to least obvious (except the last one that was a separate addition):
-Ain’t Seen Nothing Like This | Straight up had this in my playlist for a long time after it came out. Only reason it’s not in there anymore is because I don’t use playlists anymore, but I fucking adore the song, and the animation just is fucking amazing.
-Emperor’s Blade Theme | The epitome of “why do I hear boss music”. I don’t play Arknights with audio most of the time since I play it on my actual phone 90% of the time, so when I went out of my way to listen to some themes this one fucking blew me away. It reminds me a lot of something I’d hear in Super Mario Galaxy, which is one of the highest compliments I can give a track. Listening to it makes me remember the fear I felt back when I still wasn’t good at the game, and Walk in the Dust came out. I was barely scraping by using Kyostin’s guides to beat levels, and Emperor’s Blade fucking kicked my teeth in. I didn’t end up beating the level until months later on my own without a guide. My autodeploy still isn’t safe on WD-8.
-Golden Age Will Return Again | Kind of unfair because it’s not out in EN yet and I’m solely an EN player, but this song genuinely went so hard in the 3rd Anniversary Stream that I went out of my to listen to it on my own and I fucking adore it. Sea shanties are top tier, and this one is an orchestral dream composed specifically to make me feel as much shrimp emotion as I possibly can. I cannot wait for Stultifera Navis.
-Lungmen Battle Theme | My favorite of the generic battle themes as far as I’m aware, it reminds me a lot of Mega Man X for some reason. I’m not sure if that’s grounded in reality, I haven’t played Mega Man X in years, I’m pretty sure it’s not, but the actual track is fucking amazing and every time I listen to it I remember that it is in fact as good as I remember. Of all the tracks I’d recommend listening to it’s this one, because it’s easy to miss it if you don’t play with volume like I do.
-Dossoles Lobby BGM | If I could have like, background music for my life I’d want it to be this. As I formerly mentioned, I didn’t play this game with audio, but whenever I was playing during this event I’d turn my audio on because I wanted to listen to this track. I never turn my phone’s volume up. This is responsible for 25% of my love of the Dossoles Holiday event, and that’s a shit ton considering it’s my favorite event.

She's in her bedroom, under her covers with a flashlight reading a book about space exploration. She looks up at the moon for what feels like the hundredth time today. It's full tonight. The light reflects off its surface, bright enough that she can read by it if she needs to. She always wants to look at the sky when it's night because she believes there are other worlds out there, just beyond her sight. She imagines them as stars, or planets, or even whole galaxies that exist outside of her world. She wishes she could see one, but she knows that's not possible. Instead, she turns on her bedside lamp and continues reading.
After finishing her book, Noelle shuts off her lamp, then gets ready for bed. She climbs into her sheets and begins to doze off. But instead of falling asleep, she has a strange dream.
She finds herself in a vast desert landscape. A giant, gigantic sand dune lies ahead of her and to the right. On top of the dune sits something she never thought to ever see. Atop the dune, perched upon a rock, stands a creature, a dragon. Its scales are a deep shade of blue and glisten in the sunlight. It stares down at her with its dark, piercing eyes, which seem to pierce straight through Noelle. The creature watches her intently, its attention focused solely on her. For some reason, she doesn't feel threatened by this dragon. Just the opposite, actually. She sees something familiar about this creature. Maybe it's the way it holds itself, the way it walks. Or maybe it's the way the dragon is staring at her.
In the distance, she sees a small, sparkling orb appear, shining bright against the sunset. The dragon reaches out with its clawed hand to catch it, but misses. The dragon scowls with disappointment. It tries again, reaching higher up the dune, but still cannot reach the orb. It becomes frustrated and throws its head back in frustration.
Then suddenly, the dragon's body begins to glow. The light radiates from its entire being. The dragon's scales begin to shine brighter and brighter until finally, the light surpasses even the brightest star in the universe. The dragon releases its gaze from Noelle, turning to look behind her. As soon as it does, the light fades.
The dragon flies away, leaving Noelle alone on the desert sand. She turns to look at the spot where the dragon once stood. There is nothing there except for the sea of sand and the pale, distant sun. Noelle feels empty inside. She is confused and disappointed. She wonders why the dragon left. Why didn't it want to play anymore?
There is only one place she can think of that might be able to answer her question: the internet.
Noelle took out her phone and pulled up her favorite search engine, typing in "dragon." She clicks "search" and waits for the results. After a few seconds, her phone buzzes. On the screen is an article titled Dragon Sighting in the Desert. The headline reads, "Thousand Foot Dragon Spotted In The Middle Of The Desert Near Hometown!"
Noelle looks at the picture of the dragon. It looks exactly like the one she saw earlier. She clicks on the article and quickly skims over the text. She stops on a photo showing the dragon flying away. Next to the photo, the author has written, "Apparently, dragons fly."
On the bottom of the page is a quote from the dragon, saying, "Sorry I couldn't stay for long. My family needed me home."
Noelle smiles. She's happy now. With this information, she can prove to others that dragons really exist. She puts her phone back into her pocket and closes her eyes. The next thing she knows, she's waking up in the morning. { TYPE: Short-form story * Exper MG }

cosmic gender envy, and trauma
It's been a long time since that summer, but every time the season brings with it bad memories and unwilling flashbacks in the corner of their eye. The festive banners and popsicles in big grocery store boxes make them think there's an eye watching them from beyond the veil, ready to pluck them up and take them on an unforgettable journey.
Though it wasn't all bad. There are good parts that they remember- looking out into a galaxy all around them, no pressure in the slightest, allowed to ramble and talk to this cosmic entity who was very confused by the gender problem they were having, never needing the concept. And, eventually, they came to the conclusion that they didn't really need the concept, either.
But that was the minority.
Three people died that summer. The first was in their third encounter with the strange demi-gods that roam the forest there, long after the group had figured out they were lost and found the route to civilization was becoming stranger and stranger. It would loop in on itself without doing so at all, fireflies painted red leading the way to their demise and safety all at once.
They remember it clear as day. It had been a hungry wolf sort of thing- they all looked sort of like things, or amalgamations of things, but none quite right- the size of a sixteen wheeler, and saliva dripped from its maw as it asked them for an offering to pass. But they had no animals to offer it, and so had resorted to blaming one another.
Someone pushed someone else, who shoved the person to their right, who was promptly gobbled up into the gaping maw as the wolf let them pass.
Maybe it would've been worse, if it was bloody or gruesome. But they think it might have been better, because it wouldn't have seemed so sudden. There would've been a process, a point where you could say he was alive and then he was dead, the time pinpointed on a clock and obvious enough that when it slid down the creature's throat you knew it was just meat. It was an, for all intents and purposed, perfectly intact person that was there one moment and gone the next.
And that alone made it feel so much worse. Like they weren't an indelible mark on this earth, that any one of them could be erased in an instant, forgotten and uncared for and simply no longer existing. Perhaps if they'd thought a little harder about it they'd realize that he had family and friends waiting for him outside this forest, but in the moment, everyone was so stunned and silently passed in such a way that it seemed they were all willing to forget he ever existed.
Of course, that could never be the end, because of course it couldn't. Because the the path had started to dwindle, and eventually the fireflies were the only thing guiding them. And then, it turned out, they were on a beach.
A great mermaid-thing greeted them, taller than a two-story house, and with a gentle smile said, "If you'd like, I will bring you all back now, but there is more to be found here for you. To continue, I will take one of you; but if you'd like to leave, I will assist you."
"Will we be able to leave if we say no?" Asked someone, before anyone could speak.
"Likely not until the end. For few creatures in these woods remember kindness; but I, of the sea, know it well."
"Of course we're going to leave," said someone at the same time one of the girls argued, "We should keep going."
And so the argument began. Shouting and terrible faces and petty drama and everything was all dredged up, and everyone was involved except for them; they sat on the side of a tree, yawning and hugging their knees, and hoped a decision would be reached eventually. Perhaps there was intricacies to the argument, perhaps nonsense and lines of logic that never went anywhere and gratuitous appeals to the natural human desire to live, but at the end of the day they weren't really listening.
Instead, they had been listening to a strange cosmic voice that had entered their ears. "Hello, dear."
And that had been the start of it all, really, hadn't it? Because the star seeing old deity had, eventually, convinced the selkie- and he said it was a selkie, not a mermaid-thing, because of some reason or another- to take a life and have them continue on the path, because if they left right now they would all go mad.
So the second death had to be voluntary, because the selkie was far too kind to take one by force. Everyone looked at each other, except for a girl they think was named Daisy, who walked forward one step and said, "I'll do it."
And the selkie, again unwilling to rip and tear flesh, simply dragged her under the water with tangled piece of kelp and bid them on their way with a fresh set of fireflies and a purpose- that there were only three left to meet on this trail.
The rest of the night is a blur, thankfully. They remember the beings- the owl with one eye slashed, a spider whose massive web had gone stale, and the deer with seven eyes. Sort of, in approximations and vague gestures, anyway, because those things were all red and black and non-euclidean in the same way that the being they worship now is incorporeal.
"Worship" is a strong word. They chat, sometimes, and there's no particular power dynamic because there's no reason for there to be one. If that being had not wanted their company and unfiltered words, he could have killed them on the spot. Easy as that.
It ended up well, they suppose, putting a box away on the shelf. But the eyes they see peering at them from shadows, and the drool they feel drop to the floor despite there being nothing, and the webbing they get caught in without ever being stuck to anything real; that will never leave them.

Letters From Home (They had to prove the two series are linked somehow)
[All images are owned by Toei Animation and World Events Productions. Please don’t sue me.]
Tumblr media
(Thanks to Radwolf76 for the suggestion)
For all anime aired for an American audience (at least in the 20th century), the source material is cut, spliced, re-sequenced, re-dubbed, and in the end is only tangentially related to the source material (with one exception that I know of, and even that was heavily edited)
The two versions of Voltron are no exceptions, having been adapted from two anime series that have nothing to do with one another except the mecha are built from smaller vehicles (yes, in this case I'm calling the Lions "vehicles") and they defeat their adversaries with giant swords they conjure out of thin air.
They were given similar opening sequences (including the same narrator), the same name for their adversaries (robeasts), and of course the mecha have the same name. However, many fans believed these were different universes...until this Vehicle Team episode. If you would like to watch the episode, it's available on YouTube or behind your favorite paywall.
Tumblr media
We open with Chip, the smallest member of the Vehicle Team and a member of the Air Team (don’t ask me which part of Voltron he winds up being; I’m not that invested) on a road trip with his brother Pidge (who pilots the Green Lion) Unfortunately they’re in two separate anime Pidge is asleep and doesn’t appear on screen. However, in the middle of his monologuing about the fun times they’re going to have, he looks back to find…
Tumblr media
What? You were expecting to see Pidge? I just said the two characters come from different anime franchises!
Tumblr media
Then Chip wakes up from his nightmare on board the Explorer.
At roll call the next morning, Captain Newley (Explorer’s Commanding Officer) announces that the ship they just rendezvoused with brought mail (this was made in the days before the internet, so email wasn’t A Thing yet) Chip is eager to hear from Pidge, but no luck. Just a boring letter from his parents.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile at a nearby Drule Empire base, their patrols are gathering intel on the Galaxy Alliance fleet that are with the Explorer.
Speaking of the Explorer, they are assisting in the reinforcement of defenses at a nearby Galaxy Alliance base.
Tumblr media
The base detects the Drule patrol and launches drones to deal with them as we go to commercial.
Tumblr media
The drones make short work of the Drule patrol, but they know more are on the way.
Tumblr media
(Jeff being the leader of Air Team; I’m not listing all 15 members since most are barely even mentioned in the series)
However, as Air Team prepares to launch…
Tumblr media
So where’s Chip?
Tumblr media
Feeling sorry for himself. Lisa (from the Sea Team) breaks him from his funk by asking why he’s not with the rest of Air Team. He immediately rushes out, dropping the letter he received.
However, Captain Newley can’t wait and sends Land Team out instead.
In the hangar, the rest of Air Team lays into Chip verbally (to be fair, he’s the reason they were grounded for this mission, though I’m not sure why Captain Newley didn’t just send out Air Team without Chip)
Tumblr media
Chip doesn’t take that too well.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile at the Drule base, the Commander goes over the intel gathered and comes up with a plan on how to defeat the Voltron Force.
Back on the Explorer, Sara read Chip’s letter from his parents. Turns out he didn’t get any mail at the beginning of the episode.
Tumblr media
Lisa then goes into some exposition about Chip and Pidge and why they’re so close. Jeff then suggests that Lisa talk to Chip (since she’s the one who found out)
Meanwhile…
Tumblr media
…a Drule fleet is on the way as we go to commercial!
Back at the Explorer, Lisa reaches out
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the Land Team has discovered a distress beacon on a nearby planet. Captain Newley scrambles Air and Sea Teams, but Chip refuses to go. Lisa decides to stay by his side (you don’t suppose being 2 ships short will matter?)
Chip admits to Lisa that he wrote the letter and lets loose the emotional floodgate.
Tumblr media
Lisa assures Chip that something must’ve happened to the letter (suuuuuure it did)
On the planet, Land Team discovers the wreckage of a Drule ship.
Tumblr media
You think it’s a trap? I think it may be a trap.
Tumblr media
I KNEW IT!
The Drules realize the Voltron Force is two vehicles short, so they attack!
Tumblr media
Yeah, no shit!
Then the Drules deploy their latest Robeast!
Tumblr media
Crap, it’s got a sword! As any Voltran fan will tell you: once the sword is out, it’s all over!
However, despite being outgunned and two short, Air Team and Sea Team make short work of the Drule fleet. Unfortunately, Land Team still needs to deal with the Robeast!
On the Explorer, Captain Newley pleads with Lisa and Chip to join the fight.
Tumblr media
This is enough for Chip to break out of his funk as he and Lisa rush to their vehicles and arrive in time, so…
Tumblr media
Once Voltron is in play, the battle ends quickly…
Tumblr media
…and what’s left of the Drule fleet quickly retreat.
Later on the Explorer, Captain Newley has something for Chip: a letter!
Tumblr media
And wouldn’t ya know, it’s from Pidge! The producers then splice in scenes from Lion Force as Pidge’s voice narrates the letter.
Tumblr media
Excuse me, I have some familial love in my eye.

OK, and here’s the full ideas dump for the TSME4 get ‘Ingo’ed’ and sent to Hisui AU:
Where they wake up: Manon wakes up in the wild and gets picked up by the Ginkgo guild after almost getting mauled by Pokémon. Alan basically infiltrates Jubilife Village and the Galaxy Team, at a time when it is more open to outsiders. Meanwhile, Daigo wakes up near the Diamond Settlement, Mikuri in Cobalt Coastlands
Everyone has partial memories that are pretty easy to jog, except Daigo, who’s thoroughly forgotten even his own name, and somehow won’t get his memory jogged by anything? he seems pretty chill about it. the clan names him Steven
Mikuri forgot about Daigo, he remembers an important friend whose face is blurred
Mikuri could have taken on more roles and shown his skills with Pokémon, but chooses to keep a low profile and observe. People notice him regardless
Similarly, Alan tries to hide that he’s from the future and people think he’s just someone from another region who happens to be very good with Pokémon. He sometimes slips and refers to Professor Sycamore ( “this is just a tip that the Professor gave me”). People think he’s referring to Prof. Laventon but when this goes back to him, Prof. Laventon is like ?? did I say that? In the long run, Prof. Laventon thinks he has strokes of genius in his sleep
Alan “invents” Pokémon names when he has a slip of tongue. Rei finds it very fun. (“Haha me too, I’d like to catch a Charizard one day!”) Alan is both heartbroken and fond.
Alan and Manon first hear about a so-called “Steven” in Beni’s shop. The rumours are from a Security Corp who heard of a person like Alan in the Diamond Clan, who’s super strong and good with Pokémon and wanders around giving stones
Leader Adaman confirms that “Steven” refused the responsibility of being a warden, and instead wished to travel and collect “herbs” for the clan - or so he says but his bag is filled with more stones than herbs each time (x)
Alan and Manon have missing Lizardon and Hari-san sessions while camping out at night
Only Mikuri got warped with his Pokémon. His Milotic watches over him while living in the sea, and becomes known as a minor myth, with rumours gradually spreading that Mikuri is a siren who talks to weird sea creatures at night
Manon “scams” travellers and when Alan tells her she makes her goods overpriced (“they could have found this for free in the forest, they were heading towards it”) she replies that a girl needs to live and not everyone has a nice salary. Manon: “Also, how can you call me a scammer when you have Bagin at your workplace?” Alan: “…True.”
Both Manon and Alan suck at making Pokémon lures, for different reasons. Their lures stink and attract nothing good
Daigo gives Alan a Sky Tumblestone incrusted with Stardust because it’s exactly like your eyes
Daigo examines the Pokéballs made from Tumblestones. Alan wonders if it will jog his memory, but Daigo finds it “looks better as a stone”.
Daigo does feel like he is missing something, including a partner. Two partners, actually. One Pokémon and one human. He remembers someone with turquoise hair like aquamarine gemstones…
The trio runs into the Miss Fortune Sisters, and Daigo fends them off without even needing Alan’s help. He ends the fight with his “When it comes down to it, I’m still the strongest!” and Alan thinks, my God, even with memory loss his ego is massive
Daigo has befriended a Geodude which evolved all the way to a Golem, a Nosepass, and somehow, after beating it, an Alpha Steelix. Alan befriends a Bidoof at first, which he eventually releases to allow it to fulfil its dam-making dreams. He then catches a Growlithe
After much convincing and almost dying for the nth time, Manon finally accepts to let Daigo and Alan catch a Turtwig so she can at least defend herself if they’re not around for any reason ( “it won’t count as replacement for Hari-san though!” “no, no, it won’t.”) Anyway, she treats the little one very well
Daigo climbs Coronet Highlands cliffs without Sneasler’s help. When this becomes known to Alan and Manon, they both decide it is imperative to save Daigo from himself or he’s going to die young in Hisui
The trio parts ways again with Marisson still a duo. They are somewhat sad to separate (even Daigo admits that they feel familiar to him)
Alan and Manon are sent to investigate the Mikuri myth, and meet him as a duo. Upon realising he is the person with turquoise hair “like an aquamarine gemstone”, they make it their goal to have him meet Daigo
Upon meeting Mikuri, Daigo’s memory is, lo and behold, jogged
Somehow, they find a way to get back (I haven’t beaten the post-game yet, idek if its possible. I want to believe it is)
Not told, but Mikuri thinks this: the reason why only Daigo’s memory loss was so complete and so hard to undo must be because, subconsciously, his mind rejects the burdens linked to his real identity and his Hisuian lifestyle was ideal for him, without responsibilities and allowing him to just wander
