#Iron Dad and Spider Son

Text
Headcanon that when Peter accidentally calls Tony dad for the first time, he immediately freaks out over his slip-up (as usual) but Tony is running on like -20 hours of sleep and doesn’t even notice the mistake but he responds to it so suddenly Peter spirals into ANOTHER crisis because does that mean Tony thinks of Peter as his son, or did he just not hear him right? And now he doesn’t know how to bring it up without outing the fact that he wants Mr. Stark to be his dad
Peter: “Hey, dad?”
Peter, internally: Wait, shit shit! Why did I say that? I can’t call Mr. Stark DAD. That’s so creepy-
Tony, dead on his feet and hearing colors: “Yeah, Pete?”
Peter:
Peter, tearing up: “Um-”

back on my fast and furious bullshit. I want a Peter AU that's like May can't afford the rent after Ben's funeral and hospital bills, so Peter wants to help out. The last thing Ben taught Peter to do was drive. Since the spider bite gives him spider sense and fast reflexes, he tries street racing. And he's really good at it, so he starts racing for money so he can help May. He goes out at night as a street racer and Spider-Man almost every night, and tells May he got a night shift job or something idk.
All I can see is:
Tony: So you got superpowers and decided to fucking street race?
Peter: I needed the money! And I was Spider-Man!
Tony: You could've become a wrestler or something, but a street racer?!
Peter: Hey, I was amazing at racing!!
Tony: Apparently not good enough to avoid the cops.

Irondad fic ideas #155
Tony can be... a bit overbearing with his helicopter parent tendencies. To combat this, Peter sets up a small protocol with FRIDAY.
Any time Tony wants to do something paranoid or invasive, FRIDAY is to send him a helpful article first, with titles like "Excessive Surveillance Can Harm Adolescent Development, Study Finds" and "Why Teens Need Privacy From Their Parents"
Peter leaves the choice of articles up to FRIDAY, trusting her to send ones that fit the situation.
While this protocol does get Tony to reconsider some of his more... extreme impractical requests, in most cases it fails to change his mind. Being hands-off about Peter's safety is not something he can do -- not when he knows the kinds of dangers this particular kid could face.
He's grateful for the insight that the protocol has given him, though. So instead of removing it, he decides to add to it. He asks FRIDAY to make it a two-way street. Now, whenever Peter complains about one of Tony's safety protocols, FRIDAY will send an article to help him understand
However, Tony doesn't anticipate the kinds of articles FRIDAY will choose. While she continues to send Tony studies and editorials, to Peter she sends news reports from Tony's past
Peter's mad that Tony has put trackers in everything he owns? -- "Tony Stark Still Missing: Inside Month Three of the Harrowing Search"
Peter hates the constant health monitoring that FRIDAY does when he's in the tower? -- "Death Wish or Death Sentence? Stark Behavior Tied to Secret Illness that Almost Cost Him His Life"
It goes on and on. For every seemingly insane overreach, there's a story, an experience Tony is trying to protect Peter from.
They both still disagree about how much protection is too much, but at least they understand each other better now

POV: you are telling fanfics writers that they don't have to antagonize or kill off character's bio parents to validate their relationship with a mentor character/ writing a fic about a character and their parental figure doesn't invalidate the character's bio parents and everything their did while raising their child / people are allow to have more than one parental figure in their life and you can have a good relationship with your alive bio parents and still see other adults as parental figures because love doesn't have limits

Peter: what's stopping Jeff bezos from being santa?
Tony: What?
Peter: He has our addresses, he has drones, he has our wishlists and intimate knowledge of our habits
Tony: yeah, I guess
Peter: He is specifically making the choice not to be santa
Tony: yeah, I guess you're right
*later*
Tony: Pepper, just listen! It's a great idea!
Pepper: Tony! We are not sending gifts to everyone in the world via empty Iron Man suits! That breaks a million health and safety violations!
Tony: ...okay. but what if we used drones!?
Pepper: TONY! NO!
Tony: BUT I WANT TO BE SANTA!
Peter: I want Mr stark to be Santa too!
Morgan: IS DADDY GONNA BE SANTA!?
Peter and Tony: YES!
Pepper: NO!

Peter 100% has a collection of souvenirs from his time as Spider-Man.
Various knives he’s been stabbed with, bullets that have been in him, poles that have impaled him.
Tony thinks it’s creepy and weird.
Peter thinks it’s funny.

Pepper: Tony, why do you keep ignoring lab safety protocol when it always ends in some sort of explosion or OSHA violation?
Tony: Well, Pep, some of the greatest scientific discoveries were made by ignoring lab safety protocol. Besides, Tony backwards spells “Y Not” so it’s really in my namesake.
Pepper:
Pepper: Did Peter give you that one?
Tony: Yes, he did.

MY OPINION, DONT LIKE, DONT READ.
sorry to rant, but I hate when fanfictions or headcannons make the MCU's Peter Parker a baby. Like they make him super anxious or "precious". They act like he isn't sassy or snarky at all. They make him weak. There's nothing wrong with having moments of weakness, but they make his whole character a precious baby who stutters every other sentence. I often see this in Irondad and Spiderson fics. Where Peter is super nervous around Tony. But in the movies he's not.
In Civil War, when he meets Tony for the first time he's only nervous about what Tony will do if he knows he's Spider-Man. Even in the fight, hes not nervous. Yeah, he's chatty but he's not nervous. He's chatty in all his fights. In all of Peter's MCU movies he's chatty, but that doesn't make him nervous. He's sassy and sarcastic and cracks jokes all the time. He talks back to Tony and the Avengers. He's not afraid to make comments or to suggest a plan of action to the Avengers.
In the fanfictions, Peter is nervous around Happy and doesn't want to bother him. But in the movies Peter banters and jokes with Happy and isn't afraid to annoy him.
I also see a lot of fanfictions where Peter is only sassy in the spider-man mask and is nervous when he is "just Peter Parker" But that's not true, he is sassy to everyone, all the time, no matter what.
Also, when Flash bullies Peter, fanfictions take that excuse and run with it. They make Peter seem weak for having a bully, when he's not. Peter knows damn well that he could punch Flash and Flash wouldn't mess with him again, he just chooses not to. Peter's not weak for it, he's just not choosing violence.
I just think you do a huge disservice to his character if you just make Peter Parker an obnoxiously anxious teenager. Of course, I think making Peter have anxiety as a personality trait is fine, good even. But when you make it his whole personality is when I see a problem with it.
At the core of it, Peter is a strong, polite, smart, sassy, sarcastic, honest, hardworking teenager who sacrifices way more than he should for the good of others. He talks back to anyone and everyone. He's not weak or precious or a baby.
(Obviously, I know that some fics make characters ooc for the purpose of the fic, but this is a wide spread thing. I can barely find fics where Peter is sassy. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong tags)

You know that trope where SI employees call Peter "Stark Jr."?
Fic where Tony learns about this and loves it. One night, at one of their weekly Ironfam dinners, he gleefully brags about it in front of May
In retaliation, May says to Tony, "Okay, Parker Sr."
No angst miscommunications, just hilarity. Everyone knows this is about the honor of being included in each other's families

Peter: Mr. Stark!! Did you know that mochi is called that because of the word “Mochila” in Spanish meaning backpack? It’s like an ice cream backpack! Tony: ...I don’t believe you, but I don’t know enough to prove you wrong.

Friday randomly reminds Tony to sleep. And Peter heard her.
*Tony and Peter in the lab*
F.R.I.D.A.Y: Boss, the last time you slept was a two hour nap three days ago. I think you should rest a bit.
Tony: I'm fine Fri.
Peter:
Peter: 3 days?! And you were mad I didn't get 8 hours last night?
Tony: Well see, I-
Peter: Friday please inform Ms. Potts.
Tony: Fri don't
F.R.I.D.A.Y: Informed.
Tony: shit
*1.7 second later*
Pepper [bursting into the lab]: ANTHONY EDWARD STARK-
