im just saying that if i had been in charge of s6 of doctor who, i would have fully leaned into the horror of amy's pregnancy, the loss of her own agency in it, the way she was used as a vessel to create a child she would never hold again, amy pond who never indicated once that she even wanted a child and was made to have one anyway against her will, and once they were done using her, they even took away any choice she might make about it in the future.

and i would have had this be a factor in amy and river's relationship going forward. how do you interact with a child you never knew, never got to decide if you wanted to have, and she's also already your friend, you love her as this miraculous, insane woman who has saved your life more than once. she's always known more about you than you could about her, but now you know exactly how much she was keeping from you. it's not like she could have told you, could have stopped it, but all this time, she was your friend and she was your daughter, and how do you learn to live with her?

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #wen chao #wen zhuliu #Apologies for how much I skipped in the last part of this episode. #I do love the scene of Jiang Cheng regaining his will to live and the ensuing scenes of Wei Wuxian seeing him off at the mountain base. #At the same time I very much want to keep pressing on with the story. #The notes I have are for scenes I did not draw: #I still think a lot about the symbolism of food in both consumption and giving - especially in regards to the Yunmeng Trio. #Prior to JC leaving we see WWX out buying food for him. Something that initially falls through as JC runs back to Lotus Pier. #But here it comes back full circle. WWX gives away a part of himself to be 'consumed' by Jiang Cheng. #It is about being led by desire (JC wanting revenge to losing his will to live to wanting his core back) #and about being bound by duty to do whatever it takes to see those desires through to the end. #JC can't eat until he has his desire to live back. WWX carves out his own ambitions to help another reach theirs. #And it isn't held up as noble! Not even once! He is routinely punished and criticized for this sacrifice. #Being thrown into the burial mounds really is just symbolism for how we can give away every scrap of ourselves to others- #-and find ourselves at rock bottom. Alone. #When you hollow yourself out it just leaves room for something else to fill it. Something worse.

on this, the 11th birthday of fall out boy's esteemed fifth studio album save rock and roll, i just want to remind everyone of the one thing that never fails to Get Me about it.

there was a lot of scorn and derision about the title when it first got promoted, and fob was well aware this would happen. critics and caustic news outlets collectively scoffed about it, save rock and roll. like this four-piece from chicago, this dorky pop band, is gonna save rock and roll?

of course they missed the point, which is in the very god damn title. it's not a declarative statement. it's not a pronouncement of how we, fall out boy, saved rock and roll. it is a call to action. it is an earnest request for you, the listener, to participate in this act alongside them. it is an expression of desire to inspire creation in turn.

that's the ethos they've carried at the forefront of every creative endeavor they've undertaken since returning from hiatus. certainly that element was present before then, but save rock and roll marked the moment where they very deliberately centered that squarely in their narrative.

because fall out boy doesn't just want to save rock and roll. they want you to save rock and roll with them.

It really is so true that you never know what someone’s going through behind closed doors. I’ve made being gentle and kind my default bc I’ve had super put together friends disclose the most harrowing time of their lives to me and it’s like oh?? You were going through that???? I would’ve never guessed
