Can this holiday just fuck off already? I’ve already had one mental breakdown because people have bought me gifts, and I’m well on my way to a second and worse one because the gift I was pressured into opening (which was my husband’s gift to me), is something I didn’t want or need, and I can tell I’ve upset him, 2nd self-hate spiral incoming. I tell people to not buy me gifts, why is it so difficult to follow that simple request?

It's Christmas.

I gather all my courage and tell my family I want to go to therapy.

Their response "but a mentally ill person wouldn't do what you do. You are fine, just make your bed every morning, it helps you to get through the day."

Thanks dad. Why wouldn't I think of that? Obviously I'm fine and making my bed in the morning will solve all the problems I wanted to go to therapy for. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
