Im currently unemployed and need money to exist in this capitalist hellscape.

im a genderqueer and overall queer trans man whose just moved out from my parents home and am living with my best friend of nearly 10 years. ive got a snake, salamander, and two bug colonies, i love pretty much all animals, and am an amateur songwriter/musician! im disabled in multiple ways (but that just makes me cooler 😎) and i deal with some pretty prominent mental issues which make being regular to a job without my health getting in the way pretty difficult. also part of a did system, which is. im looking for a proper job, but its not been going too well for me thusfar, largely because places ive applied have found more fitting people to fill the roles. and thats ok! i just need some way to make money in order to buy groceries and Supplies for My Boys and generally. live, lol! i also want to take some burden off of my roomates shoulders, considering hes been doing wonders to help support me, but im not really able to provide much in return. job places are also a bit hesitant to hire me considering my aforementioned health issues.

These are all sort of related to backgrounds/painting so I grouped them together even though they’re pretty much entirely separate questions.... ANYWAYS

a) How is it working as a BG artist? Is it hard? What show are you drawing for?

I think you’re the first person to ever ask me about my job! Being a background artist is great. It’s definitely labor intensive but I think that could describe pretty much any art job (If something were rote or easy to automate, you wouldn’t hire an artist to do it) and I hesitate to say whether its harder or easier than any other role in the animation pipeline. Plus, so much of what truly makes a job difficult varies from one production to the next, schedule, working environment, co-workers etc. But I will say that I think while BGs are generally a lot of work on the upfront, I think they’re subject to less scrutiny/revisions than something like character/props/effects design and you don’t have to pitch them to a room like boards. So I guess it’s good if you don’t like to talk to people? LOL

A lot of my previous projects + the show I’ve worked on the longest aren’t public yet so I can’t talk about em (but I assure you if/when the news does break I won’t shut up about it). But I’m currently working on Archer Season 12 LOL. I’m like 90% sure I’m allowed to say that.

c) What exactly do you like to draw most [in a background]?

@kaitomiury​ Lots of stuff! I really like to draw clutter! Because it’s a great opportunity for environmental storytelling and also you can be kind of messy with it because the sheer mass will supersede any details LOL. 

I like to draw clouds... I like to draw grass but not trees lol,,, I like to draw anything that sells perspective really easily like tiled floors and ceilings, shelves, lamp posts on a street etc.

d) Do you have any tips on how to paint (observational)?

god there’s so much to say. painting is really a whole ass discipline like someone can paint their whole life and still discover new things about it. I guess if you’re really just starting out my best advice is that habit is more important than product. especially with traditional plein air painting, I find that the procedure of going outside and setting up your paints is almost harder than the actual painting. There’s a lot of artists who say “I want to do plein air sometime!!” and then never actually get around to doing it. A lot of people just end up working from google streetview or photos on their computer.

But going outside to paint is a really good challenge because it forces you to make and commit to lighting and composition decisions really quickly. And to work through your mistakes instead of against them via undo button.

My last tip is to check out James Gurney’s youtube channel because hes probably the best and most consistent resource on observational painting out there rn. There’s lots other artists doing the same thing (off the top of my head I know a lot of the Warrior Painters group has people regularly posting plein air stuff and lightbox expo had a Jesse Schmidt lecture abt it last year) but Gurney’s probably the most prolific poster and one of the best at explaining the more technical stuff - his books are great too.

e) Do you have tips for drawing cleanly on heavypaint?

@marigoldfool​ UMM LOL I LIKE ONLY USE THE FILL TOOL so maybe use the fill tool? Fill and rectangle are good for edge control as opposed to the rest of the heavy paint tools which can get sort of muddles. And also I use a stylus so maybe if you’re using your finger, find a stylus that works with your device instead. That’s all I’ve got, frankly I don’t think my drawings are particularly clean lol.

f) Tips on improving backgrounds/scenes making them more dynamic practicing etc?

Ive given some tips about backgrounds/scenes before so I’m not gonna re-tread those but here’s another thing that might be helpful...

I think a good way to approach backgrounds is to think of the specific story or even mood you want to convey with the background first. Thinking “I just need to put something behind this character” is going to lead you to drawing like... a green screen tourist photo backdrop. But if you think “I need this bg to make the characters feel small” or “I need this bg to make the world feel colorful” then it gives you requirements and cues to work off of.

If I know a character needs to feel overwhelmed and small, then I know I need to create environment elements that will cage them in and corner them. If a character needs to feel triumphant/on top of the world then I know I need to let the environment open up around them. etc. If I know my focal point/ where I want to draw attention, I can build the background around that.

Also, backgrounds like figure compositions will have focal points of their own and you can draw attention to it/ the relationship the characters have with the bg element via scale or directionality or color, any number of cues. I think of it almost as a second/third character in a scene.

Not every composition is gonna have something so obvious like this but it helps me to think about these because then the characters feel connected and integrated with the environment.

Some more general art questions

a) Do you have any process/tips to start drawing character/bodies/heads?

I tried to kind of draw something to answer this but honestly this is difficult for me to answer because I don’t think I’m that great at drawing characters LOL. Ok, I think I have two tips.

1) flip your canvas often. A lot about what makes human bodies look correct and believable is symmetry and balance. Even if someone has asymmetrical features, the body will often pull and push in a way to counterbalance it. we often have inherent biases to one side or another like dominant hands dominant eyes etc. you know how right-handed artists will often favor drawing characters facing 45 degrees facing (the artist’s) left? that’s part of it. so viewing your drawing flipped even just to evaluate it helps compensate for that bias and makes you more aware of balance.

2) draw the whole figure often. I feel like a lot of beginner artists (myself included for a long time) defer to just drawing headshots or busts because it’s easier, you dont have to think about posing limbs etc. But drawing a full body allows you to better gauge proportion, perspective, body language, everything that makes a character look believable and grounded.

Like if you (me) have that issue where you draw the head too big and then have to resize it to fit the proportions of the rest of the body, it’s probably because you (I) drew the head first and are treating the body as an afterthought/attachment. Sketching out the whole figure first or even just quick drawing guides for it will help you think of it more holistically. I learned this figure drawing in charcoal at art school LOL.

oh. third mini tip - try to draw people from life often! its the best study. if you can get into a figure drawing/nude drawing class EVEN BETTER and if you have a local college/art space/museum that hosts those for free TREASURE IT AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT, that’s a huge boon that a lot of artists (me again) wish they had. though if youre not so lucky and youre sitting in a park trying to creeper draw people and they keep moving.. don’t let that stop you! that’s good practice because it’s forcing you to work fast to get the important stuff down LOL. its a challenge!

b) I’ve been pretty out of energy and have had no inspiration to draw but I have the desire to. Any advice?

Dude, take a walk or something.... Or a nap? Low energy is going to effect everything else so you gotta hit that problem at its source.

If you’re looking for inspiration though, I’d recommend stuff like watching a movie, reading a book, playing video games etc. Fill up your idea bank with content and then give yourself time/space to gestate it into new concepts. Sometimes looking at other art works but sometimes it can work against you because it’s too close. 

Also something that helps me is remembering that art doesn’t always have to be groundbreaking... like it’s okay to make something shitty and stupid that you don’t post online and only show to your friend. That’s all part of the process imo. If you want to hit a home run you gotta warm up first, right? Sports.

I should probably compile everytime i give tips on stuff like this but that’s getting dangerously close to being a social media artist who makes stupid boiled down art tutorials for clout which is the last thing i want to be... the thing I want to stress is that art is a whole visual language and there are widely agreed upon rules and customs but they exist in large part to be broken. Like there's an infinite number of ways to reach an infinite number of solutions and that’s actually what makes it really cool and personal for both the artist and the viewer. So when you make work you like or you find someone else’s work you like, take a step back and ask yourself what about it speaks for you, what about it works for you, what makes it effective, how to recreate that effect and how to break that effect completely, etc. And have a good time with it or else what’s the point.

For the last one, I don’t actually believe I’ve ever addressed artwork as insp for stories/rp but I’ll say here and now yeah go ahead! As long as you’re not making profit or taking credit for my work then I’m normally ok with it. Especially anything thats private and purely recreational, that’s generally 100% green light go. I only ask that if you post it anywhere public that you please credit me.

(and I reserve the right to ask you to take it down if I see it and don’t approve of it’s use but I think that case is pretty rare.)

ok im Home now so i can finally answer this gohsdgfdg

honestly i still struggle a lot with poses theyre hard to get right but i do have a few tips that i like to keep in mind.... a lot of it is just ive been drawing poses fr SOOOO long and i try to do more fullbodies than i do half bodies or headshots cus i know i gotta keep practicing jksdhgfsd

another tip on the lines of practice is figure drawing stuff? like i took a figure drawing class and it helped SOOO much to figure out the human body and how it moves in a 3d space. just using references and drawing cool poses you see around can help a ton ! its good to be able to look at stuff and be like “oh so thats how they draw that” or “so thats how they sat” or some shit like that. its fun

uh, fr my general tips i like to lay down super quick bases fr figures. i dont tend to plan out my poses before i do em i just kinda figure out the feel or whatever i wanna draw and go fr it. lines of motion r really helpful but hard to figure out sdoghklsfg

oh another thing i like to do is keep limbs as noodles fr the first go? ive eventually kinda gotten used to just drawing arms and legs without it but it helps to figure out length and poses ! 

just going goofy and doing big ol loose lines can help spruce anything up. u can even add more detail to the limbs on top of the goofy noodles ! 

this is a super clean version of what my sketches usually end up looking like kagdjhfs

i tend to also keep everything bent unless like . the pose requires it or it shows something about the charaftcer... poses r super good fr showing emotion and i tend to do use that a lot shkodglfs

last thing i can think off off the top of my head is keeping shapes in mind? this might just be cus i work a lot with character design and composition in my art but shapes and fitting poses into goofy shapes can help make em pop ! lemme just use the sketches i have laying around on sai as an example ahdlgkjsfg

if u can tell i lov mixing curved lines w straight ones as a fun juxtaposition to make things stand out more for some really subtle emphasis. 

like this is SOOO incomprehensible but just throwing a character on top of some weird shapes can help a lot ! just go fucking stupid really

thats pretty much my main tip, go fucking stupid. go fucking crazy. just do whatever the hell u want. fuck proportion honestly ! go fucking crazy with shapes and lines and just draw weird objects and throw characters in em! eventually it gets easier to find a good flow with posing things but honestly its so much practice to get it without thinking about it. limbs. r stupid. thank u fr ur time i hope this helps at all

do you have any advice for staying motivated to play hanzo? I dont know if its because im getting into higher levels, but sometimes it feels like my 50+ hours have hardly amounted to anything :( ive been playing around with my reticle and sensitivity but im frustrated. teach me your ways?

okay, I gotta level with you: I have not played that much Hanzo or even that much Overwatch (when compared to regular players); I’m pretty mediocre

I tend to stop playing for a couple months at a time repeatedly, so. yeah.

but I totally feel you, Hanzo can be frustrating to play–he’s a difficult hero and if you’re not having a good day, it can feel like you’re doing nothing at all, and certain people in OW WILL be assholes about it

but I’ve seen folks with 100+ hours on Hanzo say they feel the same way sometimes too. because he’s tough, but he’s also satisfying to play. ultimately, if you enjoy playing the hero, you should! if you don’t, maybe take a break. 

as for getting better, well … I really only started picking up any skill recently because I started running practice matches to warm up most days, and I usually start those out really badly, but by the end I’m doing okay

I use a circle-and-crosshairs reticle with my sensitivity at 12.5 right now, which I think is just a bit below default

really, my biggest recommendation is make sure you practice by yourself. not in games where people can yell at you, or where you can compare yourself to the team.

set up a custom game like this, which I learned back when from a top 500 McCree player:

Team 1: just you as Hanzo

Team 2: at least 3 Anas set to Hard difficulty

maps: anything except escort maps because you can’t move off the payload or your matches will take 3 years 

settings: headshot damage only, no healing

practice headshotting an old woman until you get good. I usually do a couple matches like this to warm up every day, and I start out being garbage, but by the end of a couple matches I’m landing shots more consistently and feel okay going into normal games.

other things:

deliberately practice your flickshots. part of Hanzo’s build is that he’s pretty quick and movable--you can’t hold still the way you do with traditional snipers, and without a scope, you can only track shots so far

make tiny adjustments to the sensitivity when you’re feeling out what works for you. it can make a difference between massively overshooting your flickshots and landing them. 

put Hanzo’s dorkiest voicelines in your list and listen to them and remind yourself why you love this idiot

and like I said, play the hero because you enjoy it! if you’re not having fun, maybe it really isn’t for you. I love Hanzo to pieces, and I’ve always gravitated to playing hard-hitting DPS (and, while he isn’t strictly DPS, Hanzo can do some real damage) so I find him fun to play even if I’m not always doing well. and when I get frustrated, I take a break, play someone with a different playstyle like Tracer or Lucio, and come back later. P:

10 key points for a perfect headshot

The headshot check list

1. Preparation

Decide what the headshot is for! Sounds like a stupid thing to say right, but you would be surprised. Knowing precisely where and how the photo will be used will naturally determine the look and feel of the headshot. So many people used holiday snaps for their Linkedin profile photos, Incredible!

2. Contact a professional photographer.

Call the studio and have a chat with the photographer, letting them know what you would like and where the headshot will be used. You may have one idea of what you would like but one thing is for sure an experienced photographer will know what you need.

The photographer will run through some ideas that might work for you, whether in the studio or on Location. What kind of lighting, what kind of background. (I personally do a few options in the session)

I often find it easier for both patrties to bring my photo studio to the office- It takes up little space and is less disruption for the client.

Check you are happy with thie costs.

3. Presentation

It’s a good idea to get your hair cut a few days before. Have a shave if you are a man.

If you are a woman you might even get your hair styled on the day. Its often nice to get your make up done to, it relaxes some people to be pampered, it can make you feel good; feel more confident.

We work with make up artists on some shoots and generally people love being pampered; but its not essential (in my opinion)

4.Practice

Before the shoot, look in the mirror and practice a little…It may feel ridiculous but it will make you feel less self conscious on the day. Practice how to smile, how to look serious, how do do something in between. It can also make you feel a little more comfortable on the day.

5. Clothing

Largely this is common sense. Take clothes you feel comfortable in. Avoid busy patterned shirts. Make sure the clothes are ironed and everything fits well. If that’s your look.

Maybe consider taking a tie and having shots without to. Perhaps, take a few outfits

For women perhaps avoid low cut tops. They can look odd when they are cropped tightly, to head and shoulders portraits that are often used. You may even look naked!

Clean glasses

Your business may have a way of dressing that they emphasizes the type of business you are, whether thats no tie, or very relaxed. Perhaps you want some smart, suited and booted and others more casual, open shirted?

6. Arrive on time

With anything, if you arrive late you are immediately placing yourself under undue pressure. This doesn’t help when you want to look relaxed and ‘natural’.

7. Relax.

Feeling uncomfortable in this situation is actually ‘normal’. Everyone in my opinion feels this way. Try and relax if you can. A good photographer will help you to relax as much as is possible in this odd situation (strange man/woman in a new place with a large lens pointing at you with lights going off, not to mention the expectation of the on-line world waiting!!) . Take deep breaths and don’t worry about a thing. I think if you don’t take things too seriously and try and have some fun things will go well.

8. Be open!

The photographer will suggest things for you to do, ways to sit or stand that might well feel odd to you. Trust them! But also ask questions and make suggestions!

I usually show people what I am doing and explain why, so you are as much a part of the creative process as me. In my experience if you engage with people and include them in your thoughts and what you are doing , then enjoy it so much more. It can even be fun!

9. Review the images-ask opinions.

After the shoot each photographer will work differenly but they will essentially edit the photos from the shoot and show you them to you. Some will physically show you in the studio, I like to send them to the client to mull over either via a website or via a PDFcontact sheet (thumbnails of the images edited from the shoot).

Most like me will then suggest making a choice. At this stage take your time. Look at them and then review them few days later (if you have the time).

Share them with a friend of family member as we all see ourselves differently.

10. Retouching

The photographer then should send back the images retouched. If you have any specific requests for things to be changed ask the photographer. I presonally do what I imagine the client would want but am happy to do more if needs be.

Without being told, I would remove spots and get rid of shinny skin, smooth wrinkles a little. Retouch out anyting distracting from the skin or clothing.

The photographer will send the images to you via dropbox or wetransfer

If you need the images to be a certain pixel size for a specific use, let them know and they can do that for you prior to sending.

Little Italy, NY. Circa 1977. New York. Americas Mafia homeland. Originating in the late 19th century long before any of us in this era even knew how to say the word “Mafia”. Growing fearsome and powerful in the 20s and 30s. Prohibition era was a goldmine for the Mafiosos. And into the 40s, 50s, 60s. Reaching their peak in the 70s. No one, not even the president could stop the Mafia in this time. At least that is until a tragic sunny day happened in the summer of ‘75. “They should have put another bullet in my skull.” Castle thinks to himself. Sitting patiently inside of his black van. He stares off into the distance towards the front of a convenience store. “Tricanni’s” the building reads. Frank Castle was the victim of an attempted murder on his life. Still alive to remember the day, he truly died when his wife and 2 kids werent so lucky. Slain by the mob on what was meant to be a picnic day at the park. After discovering a mob hit, the Castle family were to be killed for the witnessing. When Frank arose from death, with no help from the crooked police department, he began a one man war against the cities underworld. After 2 years, Frank is digging deeper and deeper into the mob. Chipping away for the past 2 years to get to the higher ups.

Dominic Tricanni was a Caporegime (captain) for the Gnucci (pro. NEW-CHEE) crime family. The same organization responsible for the death of Franks family. Tricanni being his last lead on the whereabouts of Ma Gnucci after she went into hiding. Ma Gnucci was the wife of Don Vittorio Gnucci. When the Don died, his widow decided to take his place of power. Something never before seen until her time. Ruling the crime family with her hand practically on everyones balls. A real mean old bitch as many of her own associates consider her. Castle originally planned on attacking each of the capo’s crews to break down the family section by section. But when Ma Gnucci decided to lay low, Castles only way of finding out her location is through the last captain still breathing. This is where Tricanni comes in. Frank waits outside for another 10 minutes. Only looking away for a millisecond to check his watch every now and again. Once the lights go out in the building, Frank gears up. He throws his leather trenchcoat over his white skull kevlar and makes his way across the street.

Tricanni’s was a typical NYC business building. Store on the bottom, apartments on top. He knew thats where the mob run establishment counted profits through the fronts. The place where you buy a loaf of bread, some milk, maybe some snacks, smokes, beer, and a package of God knows what if you ask for the right people. Understand? However much money was made through the packages, was moved upstairs. So the building had to have wiseguys with guns throughout the building. Frank taps on the glass of the door, holding his head down as the man behind the counter peeks out. Castle sticks up his middle finger yelling the words “Fuck you, you fucking guinea pricks!” The man dashes out through the door “I TOLD YOU LITTLE BASTARDS TO STOP COMI-“ the man stops and looks around an empty street. Feeling alone. Until 2 man hands grip under his chin and on top of his cranium. Twisting with a loud violent crunch. He drops dead weight into Castles arms, dragging him into the store. Dumping him off behind the counter. Castle searches his body and discovers a Colt. 1911. Checking the chamber for a round. “Full clip” he mutters to himself. Holstering the weapon down the front of his belt. His boots silently stepping through the door to the stairway. He listens. “HAHAHAHA!!!” Laughter coming from upstairs. He follows the sound of humorous covervastion until he spots 2 more waiting around the next corner. “Ay, so how was that slut you took home last night?” One asks the other. Castle eases up the stairs hugging the wall close with his back, listening. “Yo i think you were right about’er....been itchin’ all day. Fuck!” The 2 men laugh hysterically, castles lip snarls at the sound of the 2 mobsters. He listens for footsteps. Trying to pinpoint how they move.

Planning his next move, he unholsters one of his own pistols. An all black enhanced 1911 .45. Loaded with armor piercing rounds. He begins to twist a silencer on the handgun as one of the pair speaks, “you hear about Freddy?” Then the other, “All i know is hes dead, why?” The conversation continues. “I mean how he died. Cops and news reporters saying its the punisher. I believe ‘em.” Castle almost smiles as he peeks around the corner ever so slightly. “Ahhh fuck Castle. If i see ‘em ill have ‘em carrying his heart in a fuckin’ doggy bag.” Castle makes his move while their guards are down. “Nows your chance.” He mutters to them, standing below the staircase. Before the men could draw their weapons Castle unloads 2 rounds into their heads. The bodies drop with the shell casings. The wall behind them painted with blood and brain. “Whoops, too slow.” He jokes as he steps past the bodies. Meanwhile on the 3rd floor, Dominic Tricanni discusses bullshit talk while he counts his earnings. “So far its 15 G’s Dom.” One of his associates speaks up. “Not bad, not bad at all.” Tricanni replies. His face a little aged. Like an old war veteran who was the grease monkey cook of the platoon but could fight. Which he could. Tricanni used to be an amateur boxer on the streets of Jersey. Eventually being hired by Don Vittorio Gnucci himself as a source of income. Over time he became a small time enforcer on the side before choosing to work full time for the mob. Rising through the ranks and being granted his own crew in NY. A foul mouthed, tough Italiano with a love for money and a good fight. “This stays between us. Ma wants 10% of every take. Well we gonna give her what she THINKS is 10%. Tell her maybe business was slow this week. Not alot of customers. Capiche?” The others nod and reply, “Capiche”. Flicking cigarettes and downing scotch. “That bitch gets on my nerves.” Tricanni states. One cracks a joke, “Maybe shes a bitch because ever since Vito died, she hasnt been getting...properly pampered? If you know what i mean?” They chuckle as another pokes fun, “yeah Dom why dont you dust her off and take her for a spin y’know? Take one for the team huh?” Dominic laughs then responds, “I wouldnt fuck her with YOUR little pee shooter Ralphy.” They laugh, oblivious to the trouble approaching. Outside the room, Castle covers the mouth of another mobster. As his knife calmly slices across the adams apple of the man. The sound of muffled choking and blood curdling fills the vigilantes ears. Watching the door in case he is too audible. More laughter is heard as Frank drops the body. Snagging a sawed off shotgun from the dead mans grip. He holsters the shotgun to unscrew the silencer from his pistol. “Gonna have to get loud.” He thinks to himself. He currently wields both weapons, standing in front of the apartment door. He knocks on the door, waiting to hear the footsteps get closer. He hears whistling from behind the door signaling a cue for his next move. “BOOM!”

The mobster goes stumbling back, leaving a large hole in the door from the sawed off. “WHAT THE FU-! [BOOM!]” the last round from the shotgun bursts through the door. Enough to send the gangsters back falling to the floor. Castle spartan kicks the door with his large heavy combat boots. Breaking it off the hinges. Dropping the sawed off and equipping his secondary pistol. “BAM! BAM!” Headshots. 2 mobsters rise from behind the table, greeted with .45 caliber rounds to the cranium. Tricanni, still down, is painted with his mens blood. From the kitchen another spawns “HEY!!! ITS CASTLE!!!” Castle twists his head to the left. Just as the gangster pulls the trigger on his Micro smg. Machine gun fire sprays the room as Frank jump into the bedroom. Landing on his side. Bullet holes spawn as the mobster continues to unload his clip. Sending glass and drywall pieces all over the bedroom. Castle sends a few rounds through the wall in return. He notices a change in the scenario. The shots change place, now being shot from the right instead of the left. Frank follows up with gunfire of his own. Popping off the rest of the clip into the wall as a distraction before “BAM!” He lets off one last round just as the mobster was changing positions. Killing him. Tricanni sees this and attempts to run. “BAM! BAM!” Castle puts 2 in Tricannis leg. The Mob captain screams in agonizing pain as he attempts to crawl. But Frank beats him to it. And grabs him by his foot. Dragging him to the kitchen.

Tricanni sits handcuffed in a dining room chair. Dripping blood from his leg wounds. “What do you want with me Castle?” Frank stares him down, silent. Pulling up a chair seating himself directly in front of Dominic. “You want to know where Ma is!? Is that it? Well fuck you! I hate that old cunt just as much as you but ill be damned if i cooperate with you!” Frank doesnt break his cold stare. Keeping eye contact. Suddenly Tricanni feels a jolt of excruciating pain sent up his thigh and all over his leg. Frank has stuck his finger inside his bullet wound. “I think we need to try that again.” His voice gruff and dark. Like death itself if it could talk. Tricanni grits his teeth, holding back any screams as best as he can. Frank hooks his finger making Tricanni tear up and jolt around. “Where...is...Ma...Gnucci?” Tricanni breathes heavy but doesnt scream or give in. “I admire your pain tolerance. I wont take away your strength, ill give you that. But Tricanni either you give me an address or i plant a third one in your leg and play bowling. Now tell me....” he cocks his pistol and aims below the 2 bullet wounds. Suddenly, his home phone rings. Frank looks at Tricanni and stands. “No running off.” He walks over and picks up the phone as a woman speaks. Tricanni watches as Castle writes down on a napkin. He hangs up after a few minutes and washes his hands of blood. Tricanni pants as he speaks up “s-so what now?” Castle stops and looks down at Dominic “Now?” He raises his arm “(click) BAM!” Tricanni’s brains coat over the kitchen counter. “You give the devil my regards.”

As Castle walks back down into the convenience store the phone behind the counter rings. Frank ponders but then decides to answer. “Is this Tricanni’s?” Frank almost chuckles “It was...” he thinks to himself. “Yes” he answers. The man on the phone continues on. “Tell him ill be back by to pick up my package i ordered. Is tomorrow a good time?” Frank looks outside for any company. “Not a good idea. Tricanni’s is kind of going out of business after tonight and will be discontinuing any service to the public. Sorry for the inconvenience.” He hangs up and walks out into the New York streets back to his van. Checking the napkin he wrote on. “Rochester-3:00 p.m.-brick house few blocks from hospital. Tuesday.” He folds it up and starts the van. “Nothing like a little spring cleaning to make you feel like a new man.” He smirks to himself as he drives through the dark lonely streets.

I got overwatch a week ago and fell in love with mercy so I levelled up to 10 just practicing against the ai to get a good feel of the game, but whenever I do quick play my team always seems to lose... We don't have a lot of bad comps and I always get a gold medal for my healing, my average is about 9.5k, though the enemy healer gets about 10% more healing done than me... do you think it's me being bad and should I pick something else to try and main? thank you :)

Mercy is rather tricky to play properly, you’re kinda like a HUGE target because you heal a massive amount and you can res the team and change the tide of the battle instantly AND you dont have much in the way of defending yourself so basically Mercy= important person whose easy to kill

so the question is, are you dying a lot? (theres no shame in this, Mercy gets targeted HEAVILY) If so then your teammates dont protect you well enough (which is a usual among lower levels tbh, as you get to higher play you realize the importance of protecting your healer no matter what)

but another thing could be that you havent found out the ‘stay FAR away from the thick of battle hiding’ strat. Mercy cant really defend herself (cept for like pro ones who can get headshots everytime with their tic-tac pistol) so are you going to try and heal like, a genji whose far away and makes you angel dash into a vulnerable place? one thing to learn as mercy is make players come to YOU for healing if theyre far away, you are with the rest of the team and healing them, if they want healing they come to YOU. healers are more important then that flanking genji lol

basically, Mercy just takes some time getting used to and is a real teamwork based character so im sure youll get the hang of it! and if your team is just doing TERRIBLE at protecting you then i suggest someone like ana or lucio because they can self heal and dish out some damage/run away quickly/ heal from a distance!

[The Third War]-An Overwatch Au.(Pt.1)

So, This is an entry on amino for a challenge i did in collaboration. I'm posting the story here but I don't know if I'll definitely continue it, and if i do, continue from here, or make the rest of this a flashback.

Regardless, I hope you like it, this took me about a week and a half to do

A brief hush echoed through the walkways of the damaged, and rundown city as the setting of the sun gave it's eerily dim glow. Irradiated creatures, omnics, and even people now wandered the streets, hoping to not meet their peril. At the heart of the operation to either Kill, Chase away, or save lives there were 25 people in one team. Mostly members of "Overwatch." A former member of Talon had returned to the light though. People and animal alike sent to hold back hostile forces only long enough for the civilians to evacuate the city. The members of Overwatch were caught in the next world war. This time, one that could very well end everything known, and send technologies back years. Since their collapse, The connections between countries had deteriorated terribly. Why? Because the world thought they didn't need their heroes anymore. Because they had seen them as the bad people. Though the reform was recent, it was too late to fix the relations with countries as well, and it was all Talon at fault.

No one knew where Talon originated from in full. So in an attempt to keep themselves and their countries safe, World leaders blamed each other and started the war, so screw the fact that operations were illegal. If everyone died now, then efforts to help would be in vain-

The old rusted gate opened as the man readjusted his mask and tugged his hood farther forward in hopes of hiding the mask more. Regardless of the scars, bruises, cuts, and pain, it caused him, finally admitting he was wrong to have joined the terrorists was what hurt him the most. The glances shared between him, and the angel next to him to the other 3 teams was undoubtedly anxious. They planned to gather everyone briefly in the arcade and the shrine until the forces were pushed back far enough that even if they were forced to fall back, there'd be breathing room to hold.

Tucking her bangs behind her ears, and temporarily wielding her pistol instead of the staff, the medic gave a brief glance around as people began to march forward. At the time she found out about Reyes's return, she'd not known what to believe. That he wasn't sent to kill everyone from the inside out, that he wasn't trying to make sure TALON would find yet another success in their absence. She was wingless for the first time on the battlefield. They were mangled and destroyed while still on her suit during a previous attempt to relieve hostile forces, and her armor was much lighter. Still, the same chestplate, except the skirt-like item she usually wore was now replaced by lightly armored leggings and her normal boots.

Outstretching a hand with a tight grip into his guns, Reyes gave a glance to the first set of hostiles. A whole damn street flooded by them. When the time came to engage, when a simple attack announcement was made, he only gave a simple

"Understood."

He took no hesitance with the shots while occasionally checking back to the woman who was stopping to hide and regenerate health. He gave a slight chuckle. Even though his guns tore through quite a few of them, armored ones and omnics were giving him a bit of trouble, and he quickly realized how easily he could become overwhelmed. A brief moment of hesitation, and he found himself weighed down by a creature that's much larger than humans, and looked like the crossbreed of a dog and the inside of someone's small intestine. It knocked good amounts of damage off of his health, each time he felt cuts go deeper.

"Angela- A little help please?"

"I'm already on it. It's barely half dead."

The angel gave a harshly said response as she kept landing headshots. It was as useless as if widowmaker was never charging up a scope and only landing body shots on Orisa, while she's in a state of not taking much damage. Reyes would be dead soon, and she knew he couldn't wraith. She saw he tried to earlier, but was too early on it. She landed a few more shots, which distracted it slightly, but not from its prey. Right then and there she knew from the moment the clutching of his hand which now fell limp, he was comatose, but not for long. After it knew Reyes was "dead" it lunged for her, as she ducked under just in the nick of time and healed the broken soul back to life.

"You really had to wait until I died?"

"Would you rather us both?"

They were both joking, of course. Now that Reyes was back up it was showtime. With a damage boost on him, he began to give shots that tore through even armored ones and pushed away hostiles. Occasionally Angela would stop to guide out some docile people from the fights, and directed them to either the Arcade or the shrine. Both were within practically equal distance. This song and dance happened with practically every part of the city and even outwards into a few other ones. So there were three or four groups here, In Hanamura spread across 20 or so miles of the city, each with 2 or 3 different bases set for evacuation.

Until holding would be impossible or until the evacuation was done they kept fighting. Each time, waves of malformed, irradiated, and terrifying creatures would strike up. Each with different deformities, and abilities. The day had begun to turn tonight, the sky becoming dark and stars occasionally dotted through the clouded sky. The call was sent to get people to evacuate, and floods of people had begun to run towards the fleet of dropships. Hostiles kept pushing in their heavier forces. Falling back or dying maybe. Two choices that would either cost a few lives or save many more. No, instead, they would push. The Reaper took up an ult on a herd of the heavier forces while Angela gave a damage boost. A few of them fell, but of what wasn't killed, were low hp, and knocked into critical fast. A trail of emptied guns was in the group's wake from the reaper. It seemed that it lightened up on their side, by enough that both could separately land kills on weaker, but faster targets. Angela grimaced, feeling something slice down into her shoulder and pin her to the ground. A growling noise she heard suggested that she herself might be in trouble.

"I Could use some assistance."

Gabe wraithed backward, aiming solely at the creature and landing point-blank headshots. It reared up, allowing Angela time to roll, and turned to Gabe, lashing its tail hard enough to send Angela through a window. This was a monster that would take a whole team of 6 at least a few hours to beat down. Angela sat up, being careful to not cut herself all too much on the broken glass. Gabriel growled, and slid under the creature, watching it attempt to turn fast. He shakily stood and shadowstepped on top of it, stabbing the taloned gloves into its heavily armored back harshly and hearing it screech and feeling it trying to shake him. He pressed his weapons to the various holes made and shot for the spine jumping off as its back legs fell limp. Angela rejoined as soon as she regained her balance it wouldn't be much of a nuisance anymore. At least to the fight anyway.

Another figure brought the clashing of metal with him as he approached to say it was time to head out. Reinhardt Wilhelm. The man who had just come had seen the beast that was left semi-paralyzed. He was almost impressed. Still, carrying his hammer, and glancing in the direction of the bases, they followed. Enemy forces would definitely be moving in now but that was another story. Now? It was getting back to the bases to wait it out for another set of dropships to arrive. Japan had a small wait out bases now all over.

A while later the three had gotten back to the shrine. Reinhardt was the first to pipe up in congratulations as usual on how everyone did amazing. Angela was resting on a set of stairs while everyone else was talking. A smile came to her face as the atmosphere was definitely more welcoming than the previous tension in the air from the mission. There were 6 others with them, as Hanamura was currently the most heavily populated area by these creatures. Gabriel was talking with the others, trying to learn a bit more about what he had missed. Hana turned off from the group and stepped towards Angela.

"Annyeong, Angela!"

"Ah, Hello Hana."

Angela spoke to the other female with a soft grin.

"Is everything okay Over here?"

[CI]Hana asked casually, as she took a seat about a step lower than Angela. The medic spoke with almost an apprehensive tone

"Well.."

Meanwhile, Gabriel was still listening to the conversations of others and piping in when needed. He had been hearing things like "You Should've seen..." or "I'll never forget." As if they didn't die once to this, which in fairness seemed true.

"Hey, Rea-Gabriel. What about you?"

"What's there to know? We just killed things and moved on. Same as always."

He'd respond to a voice that held an air of insanity. One that gave a slight laugh as it talked. To none other than the junker himself.

"Oh really? I heard you died out there. Eh, Copper?"

"Sure. What's it mean to you? Haven't you fallen in battle before?"

The room seemed silent around their conversation. Whether looking from a corner or chatting, the tension seemed to return. Whether or not for better or worse, That's all in time's hands. It was never like this before the war though.

Moira; Yay? Or Nay?

The new hero Moira just hit the PTR, and Ive heard some mixed reviews. Some hate her, but others have absolutely fallen in love. If you care to read on, I will be making a list of pros, cons, her counters, special tips and tricks, and many other details that may not have been discussed by youtubers or other posts. Ive played her for a good 3+ hours today, and as a support main I believe I have a general idea of how she can be used most effectively as well as some details other may not have considered important enough to talk about. This is of course, my opinion, but maybe you will find something helpful.

If you have searched “Moira” and found this post, Im sure you have read her abilities so Im skipping that part. No need to beat a dead horse. I would firstly like to say, I think Moira is an excellent addition to the game.

PROS:

-Moira’s healing is not a lock on so she does require some level of aiming, HOWEVER, It does more healing per sec than Mercy’s beam AND heals through allies. Being able to heal mutiple targets is absolutely fantastic for narrow choke points, or hiding behind ally shields.

-Her balls do a significant amount of healing and damage. The bounce of the balls gives her a way to strategically heal or damage without putting her in harms way. She is meant to be an up-in-your-face battle healer, but if you are low on health and still need to heal your team, bouncing one of these puppies from behind a wall into your team is phenomenal.

-She is mobile during her ult, and with increased speed. The cinematic was very missleading about this, and I panicked thinking that a very squishy healer would be immobile like Pharah when ulting. She is mobile, and thankfully so. While Moira heals when doing damage, it would not be enough to keep her alive were she a stationary target.

CONS:

-Moira’s damage beam is not a true lock on. It appears to lock when you are doing dmg, but in reality is behaves much like Zarya’s beam. That its self not bad, but saying its a ‘locking’ ability is misleadingly dangerous. It does slightly lock, but nowhere near Symms ability. If you move even slightly too far feom the center of your target, the beam unlocks.

-I love that she is a battle healer. Doing dmg charges her healing resource. As a battle healer though, I feel that she does not have enough health to support that style of play. She does heal as she dps’, but you cant feel it at all. Her dps is also very low, but understandably so. Slap on 50hp or increase her self healing, because 200 is not enough, especially if you do not have a shielding tank. Zarya and Roadhog will not be able to keep this little battle healer alive on the front lines.

COUNTERS; (Weak/strong against)

Unlike other supports, Moira is NOT counteres by the dreaded flankers, Genji and Tracer. Unless they are ulting, or land perfect full clip headshots before Moira notices, these two will NOT kill her. Moira has 3 very strong advantages over these once terrifying support killers.

-First, Although is a soft lock, and acrually more beam-like, Moira’s Attack can track the quick moving flankers. They will not get in and out unscathed, and will actually be forced to retreat from Moira, or risk the wrath of her beam.

-The beam, also heals her while doing dmg. Its not a super strong self heal, but its enough to make you need more than one clip of tracers weapons, unless you perfectly land all headshots. Once ahe starts moving, she will have an easier time hitting you, than you will her.

-Mobility. A lot of it. Tracer’s recalls and blinks have nothing on Moira’s dash/teleport. It is instant, on a low cooldown (6 sec), and shes completely immune to dmg. She can also heal while in this immune form. If Moira throws out a dmg ball, and beams with decent aim, any Genji or Tracer will be dead within 3-5 sec unless they run away. Moira will not be hunted by these two flankers.

-Reaper is a tricky flanker. If he can aim well, the Moira should run ratger than fight. He doea more damage than she can heal if all the shots are landed correctly. Both have great mobility, so if Moira doesnt want to be hunted by reaper, she will simply dash to her team. Reaper is only a threat to her if she stays and fights.

-Tanks beware. Moira can throw those lovely little balls through shields. Her ult passes them too. And ulting Moira, is a dead tank. Without the ult, Roadhog is a good counter. Moira cannot output enough dmg to kill him before he heals. Winston’s dmg will kill her before she kills him, BUT she has a much longer range than the chimp. If even if Winston has his jump, Moira can simply dash out of range, and dwindle him down slowly. She gets hee dash much more quickly, and has the benefit of healing. Her orbs pass easily through his shield, so its best to have a dps take her down ratger than Winston. Rein is fucked. If you are Reinheart, either land your ult, or pray she makes your death painless. If you have a healer on you I wouldnt worry ass much, she will get bored of trying to out dmg the heals (and failing) and go for one of your squishies. Orisa stands a bit of a chance, if you can hit those projectiles, try and burst Moira down before she ults. Be aware of your surroundings. Moira can, and will teleport behind and kill you. Ive seen so many Orisa blind to whats behind them, and as Moira, I take joy in killing them.

-Symmetra. Is. Hell. By far Symm is Moira’s hardest counter. Symm has every dmg ability in Moira’s kit, but 10x stronger. Moira cannot outheal symms dmg, however, she has nearly twice as much range, and can GTFO. Run Moira. Just run. Find a McCree and have him take out the evil Symm. Her shield will just regen faster than you can dps, and if you get too close you will die. Not worth the respawn time.

-Now Pharah is interesting… She can only stay out of Moira’s range for a few sec. Once she falls even a little bit, Moira can latch on and give her hell. Also, firing her balls into the sky will do enough dmg to make you one body shot for any sniper.

-Mercy mains rejoice. Your high mobility will allow you to fly to safety before we Moiras can kill you. Stay by your team, and do not try and fight a Moira by yourself. She. will. Win. A moira will most likely not follow you into the team unless shes dumb, or has her pet Genji with her. If she brings Genji, then youre fucked.

Stay out of reach of McCree’s Flashbang. You are fast, but do not fuck with him. If you get too close, he will end you. If you take too much dmg, GTFO. If McCree can aim well, GTFO.

-Snipers. Hide. They are out of your range and can one shot you.

TIPS FOR MOIRA;

Moira is every friendly Genji, Tracer, and Reaper’s dream. She can be played 2 different ways. One way is a Flank healer. Her mobility gives her a sneaky way to get behind enemy lines with her Flanker of choice. Her mist heal can keep them alive in a pinch, or ahe can toss an orb with him for 300hp of Genji protection. Can you imagine fighting a Genji with 500 hp?!

The other way she can be played is with aggressive tanks. Her mist heal goes through allies, and does more healing than Mercy’s beam. 3 Mercys doesnt do as much healing as Moira when in a group. Her front line will be well healed, BUT the tanks will need to give her protection while she damages enemies to refuel.

Moira is not a backline healer like Mercy. You cannot play her like one. Dont try. You will run out of heals and leave your team fucked.

- She is aggressive, Use your dash and dont be afraid. It is only a 6 sec CD, and you heal as you dmg. Keep moving while you attack, your fire requires less aiming than soldier or McCree. But if you start taking too much dmg, dash to your team.

-Do not waste your ball on snipers. It is a slowmoving projectile with a 10 sec CD. They will simply walk to the side, and kill you. Use the ball at choke points, or on point.

One of my personal fav things to do is find two wall on point, and aim to so the ball bounces back and fourth, but stays on point. It will waste less of the ball than if you were to throw it into the sky and it flies away… Never to return…

Jump, then throw the ball level to get over obstacles. If you jump before you toss it, you can see over things like cars, and the payload. Throwing it over things without jumping will most likely end with your ball flying off into the sky uselessly. Throw it level, after you jump. Practice this to make it muscle memory. Your ball will stay level with the ground and still stt behind and around obstacles.

Healing wise, Moira pairs well with Mercy on defense, and Ana on attack.

Tank wise, Moira pairs well with winston, and Reinheart. She needs protection, but someone who wont waste her healing like roadhog. Dva can work on attack comps if she is willing to take body shots for Moira. Dva’s dps pairs well, and Moira can outheal any dmg done to her tank buddy.

Dps wise, Moira pairs well with flankers. She can keep them, and herself alive if the Flanker trusts in her heals, and kills those targeting her first. Her dmg can finish off low healthed/escaping target, and can easily end in a team kill.

If you read all of this I am impressed! I hope it was helpful, and Im really excited to play more of her.

well I’m not sure how much it will actually improve your aim because bots are always so predictable, especially in that mode. but nonetheless, it’s good practice on getting used to mccree. i only played him once in the mode so far and focused on trying to get mostly headshots. 

but tbh if you really want to improve your aim and your mccree in general, the best mode for that is deathmatch. i almost exclusively play him in deathmatch and it’s definitely helped me improve. because you’re playing against actual real people who are unpredictable and you’re also not having to focus on strategy or objectives like you do in qp/comp. it’s all about getting kills and improving your skill. this goes for any character tbh

Intro, blog ideology and apology.

I have never blogged before, wow so modern of me aww wait, vlogging is the thing now. I missed the train there, for now I’ll stick to the blog. I am Erik Reuter currently stationed at Ft. Bragg with my Mrs. I attended university to study motion picture film in which I focused on cinematography and being that we are outside a production hub for me, I will continue to grow and practice my skills through Senior Portraits and Headshots. Nice little SEO there eh? That is a brief about where my skills come from.

Now about me quickly, since the world now runs on TLDR; and since text is an absolute terrible way to convey character I’ll help you out, you should be able to grasp from my little quips that I am quiet the jovial person. I take that attitude with me on set and like I light switch turn it off and on as needed, so trust me, when I dont need to make absolute measurements or crystal clear communication I will be my normal happy go lucky self. Those of you who shot with me already know exactly what I mean and future clients will too. I always strive to make my sets fun. I dont mind being around myself so hopefully our time together you will feel the same.

Now, speaking of being in a room with myself, Oh hi Mark, Let me talk a lil bit about my blog ideology, I will treat this as a stream of conscious type flow. Using references from anything really, like the “Oh hi Mark” is from The Room by Tommy Wieseau, the worst movie ever made go watch it and your life will be better, and trust me he did not hit her, he did not.

So a random mess of a blog? isn't that dangerous for a business owner? Yes and no, The yes: some of you will be turned off by the style but that is the way of the world in creative endeavours, also there was nothing I could do that would make you hire me anyways if your mind is already made up. The no: from all the photog blogs I have read and followed they are generally the same, here is client and here are the photos we took then dead silence till the next client. Great for SEO not so much for personality. The photogs I look up to put their personality in their shoots and their blogs. I will do the same, so you will see my clients, but rather than just seeing them I will talk about what we wanted, what we got, where we succeeded, failed, why, how, what did I learn? add in other stuff as well. That will be my blog flow.

The apology, what for? why? well for me being me, and the frufru. Folks, I come from the professional film background so when you meet me and read my blogs and website you will notice that something is missing: the passion, capturing special moments, and cameras that just fit in my hands. That my friends is called the frufru and its just marketing speak, I never had a production coordinator call me and say “Hey Erik, you feeling passionate today? got a camera that just fits in your hands? great your going to capture the precious moments of Hoarders for 2 weeks.” So I apologize, I just don’t say it or put it up on my website but I’ll let you in on a little secret, just this once. Your Seniors, your kids and your moments are special, I will let my images and my work put into them show my passion and honestly a camera never fits in my hands, they are clunky devices undergoing constant engineering and re engineering but I have good news generally camera technology takes two steps forward and one step back. So we will get there one day, if I live that long.
