Simon Riley would say that being legally dead is the best thing to have happened to him and that's because it allowed him to escape a bunch of responsibilities that regular men have to uphold.

He gets paid covertly, in full, and does not have to pay taxes on his income.

He rented a flat from a sweet ol' lady, who didn't run a background check or ask for a copy of his birth certificate (terrible choice on her part), and he pays her by dropping an envelope of cash in her mailbox on the 1st of every of the month.

He not only is old enough to drink but also sounds and looks old enough as well, which means he doesn't need I.D. to buy alcohol (not that any shops or bars really care enough to check).

He doesn't have a credit card. Or a debit card for that matter. Hell, he doesn't even have a bank account, so he doesn't have to pay maintenance fees.

He doesn't have a smartphone. And up until recently he only had a pager. In fact, the only reason he doesn't have a pager anymore is because it got shot in the crossfire during a mission... so Price forced him to get a jitterbug.

In short... Simon Riley can escape a lot of things (death, taxes, Philip Graves...). But telemarketers and phone scammers are not one of those things.

That's how, on a boring Wednesday afternoon, his new phone ends up ringing, like it had been doing multiple times a week for the last four weeks.

Telemarketers.

He never got telemarketers on his pager.

He hated telemarketers.

But that didn't mean he blocked them-

"What?" He answered as soon as he picked up the phone.

An automated voice came over the call, one of those typical Siri-esque robot voices, delivering a prepared speech: "Congratulations! You've won a free cruise to the Bahamas! To claim your prize, press 1."

Oh, now, this was different. He didn't need to hear more to know it was a scam call. But that didn't mean he was going to hang up.

So Simon pressed key 1, which caused a beep to sound over the call.

"Thank you!" The automated voice continued. "We are now connecting you to a live operator to claim your prize!"

Barely a millisecond went by before you took over the call. "Good afternoon, this is Stella Gormoni with Blissful Blessings Inc.! Who am I speaking with?"

As stereotypical as it is, Simon had expected a different voice on the other end of the line... maybe from a scammer in a foreign country who'd speak heavily-accented English...

But instead, he got a sweet and professional sounding person... It almost made him second-guess the scam that was being pulled on him.

His mind moved quick at coming up with a fake name. Not just a fake one, but a pun one too. "Wanh'a, first name Aiden." He replied, his gruff voice reverberating on the call.

"And how do you spell that?" You asked him politely, and, through your headset, he could hear your keyboard keys clacking in the background.

"That's A-I-D-E-N." He replied as he entered his kitchen, spelling his first, as if that was somehow what was causing you difficulty.

"Uh-huh!" You acknowledged in a peppy tone. "And... your surname?" You asked him.

"W-A-N-H-'-A." He continued spelling as he crossed the small kitchen, hearing your fingers tapping away at your keyboard in his ear.

For a moment, you didn't talk, as if stunned into silence. Had you just picked up on the fact he was trolling you by giving you a name that, phonetically, sounded like 'I Don't Wanna'? Probably. But you hadn't hung up yet.

"Well, congratulations, Mr. Wanh'a, you just won an all-inclusive, two-week long cruise to the Bahamas!" Your peppy tone made him bite his lip to contain a laugh. Well, at least you were dedicated in continuing the scam. "How are you feeling?"

"Very well, and yourself?" Simon asked casually as he leaned himself against the door of his refrigerator, leaning down to look inside and find a snack.

"I'm doing very well, thank you, sir." You replied in a cheerful tone. "So, let's process the information so we can get you your prize, shall we?" You announced in a polite tone.

"Go right on ahead, sweet'eart." He murmured as he grabbed a yogurt and closed the fridge with his hip, sitting at the table and peeling open the lid.

"Well, for us to start, I'm going to need your-"

"Actually, I have a question, before we start." Simon interrupted your speech, cutting off your silver-tongued lies.

You went silent for just a moment before you replied with a sweet little: "Of course, what can I help you with, Mr. Wanh'a?"

"I want to know how exactly I signed up to receive this prize." Simon replied before he placed a spoonful of yogurt in his mouth.

He was trying to accomplish two things by doing this: 1) throw you off your game and make you stammer and stutter, and 2) see how long it took for you to get annoyed, and hang up on him.

"Well, that's what I was going to explain, you see-" You replied, a smile behind your voice, but his trained ears could pick up the slight frustration. It made Simon smile.

"Oh, then, I'm sorry for interrupting you, sweet'art, please go ahead." He replied and gestured with his spoon, as if giving you the stage, unnecessarily so, because you were not there to watch it.

"As I was saying... You were entered automatically into the draw by buying a cereal box of any Kellog's cereal at Tesco. I'm sure you saw a 'Win a free cruise!' sticker on yours?" You asked in a professional and sickly-sweet tone.

He could see right through your scam, he had already done that. You name a famous brand, one people trust, to trick naive or impressionable ones into believing you...

Normal people would tell you they no longer have the cereal box, many of them naive enough to believe your scam despite the fact they hadn't even bought one of those boxes in the first place...

Next, you'd ask for the card used to make the purchase, and some people were dumb enough to read their number aloud to you...

Oh, how he hated scammers. Even more than telemarketers.

"I do remember seeing something like that..." He murmured, his voice deepening, before he popped another spoonful of yogurt past his lips, loudly smacking them right against the receiver of his jitterbug.

"Well, all I need is for you to get the box and read me the code that's imprinted on the inside of the flap!" You announced.

"Well, you see, I would, sweet'art... But my sight isn't so good anymore..." Simon replied. "I'm getting up there in age, you know?" He continued eating his yogurt.

"I understand, sir." You replied. "I'm sorry to hear that. One of my cousins also started losing his vision pretty early." You announced.

Huh.

There was no hint of forced sympathy in your voice.

No, you were being genuine. That was a real story of your life you were telling him...

But you had picked up on the fact he was trolling you, right? So why were you-

"Good thing though, about this system of ours, is that you can just confirm your credit card details so we can double check them and get you that prize!" You had, your tone right back to the scamming silver-tongue you had held until now.

Secretly, Simon had to admit that he admired your commitment to the bit. He couldn't help but smile a bit, amused.

"Oh, of course. Let me just set you down while I get my card." Simon replied and got up, finishing his yogurt and tossing out the plastic container, popping the spoon into the sink, and, after setting down his phone, he walked out of the room.

Simon glanced down at his wrist watch, noting the time on it, then, approached his bedroom door, grabbing his over-the-door pull-up bars, and began doing a quick set, leaving you to 'wait' for him in the kitchen.

After a few sets, he waltzed back into the kitchen and grabbed his phone again. "You still there, da'lin'?" He beckoned in a gruff tone.

You sighed, your politeness sounding slightly more forced. He had kept you waiting for over ten minutes after all. "Yes, sir, I am. Did you get your card, Mr. Wanh'a?"

"Oh, please, enough of this 'sir' thing, Mr. Wanh'a was my mother." He replied, then went silent for just a beat, almost like he could hear your frustration sizzling on he other end.

He was being more and more obvious with his trolling... And it pleased him immensely to imagine a parasite like you seething on the other end of the line, reaching your wits' end.

"You can just call me 'Ai', it's what my friends call me." Simon continued, a smirk forming on his lips. "And we're friends now, right? You're giving me a cruise and everythin'." He added, his tone just as charismatic and peppy as his had been.

"I guess we are!" You replied, returning the overly cheery tone. "So, 'Ai Wanh'a', then?" You asked, but he could hear the mix of frustration and amusement behind your voice.

"Yeah? What d'you want, babygirl?" Simon asked, unable to resist making a more impish remark. And, unfortunately, it had the desired result. It genuinely caused your brain to blue-screen for a moment.

Sure, you'd experienced plenty of people getting angry at you when you attempt to scam them, or even trolling you the same way this bloke was doing but...

It was definitely a first, to have someone flirt with you, even if it was still part of his trolling attempt.

"Your... credit card details?" You ended up adding, your voice still showing the surprise and light meekness that came from him catching you off-guard.

"Oh, of course. Are you ready? It's a very complex number." He replied.

"Ready when you are." You added as you steeled yourself for another smartass response or run around from him.

"Here it is: 1234-5678-9987-6543." He replied, reciting the numbers 1-9 in order and then backward. "And the three digits on the back are: 210."

Oh, he was so fucking annoying! He didn't get to troll you, even if it was pretty amusing of him to do so, then flirt with you, then go back to trolling.

"Sir, if you're not interested in the cruise, just say so. There's no need for this mockery." You replied, your tone serious and professional though you were definitely seething on the inside.

Simon could tell. And he reveled in it. "Oh, but I am interested!" He replied with a smirk behind his voice. "In fact, I want to know more. Will my cabin in the cruise have an ocean view?"

Simon heard you inhale aggressively on the other side of the line, steeling yourself not to hang up on him, or down right berating him on the phone. "Yes, Ai, of course!" He heard your fake cheeriness through your clenched teeth. "It'll be a luxury cabin, actually. Isn't that great?"

"No, it's not that great, actually. I get very seasick, you see?" Simon murmured. "Not to mention, ever since my pet goldfish died, I've just never been able to look at the ocean the same..." He added in a forced pitiful tone.

You went quiet again on the other side and Simon knew he had finally worn you out. He waited to hear the clicking sound of the call falling, but, instead, he just heard you let out a sigh.

"You're very frustrating." You murmured.

"Oh, my, is this how you speak to all your prize winners?" Simon gasped dramatically.

"Shut up... You didn't have to be a smartass, you know?!" You scolded him, as if you had any ground to stand on.

"No, I fear I did, sweet'art." Simon replied as he leaned casually against the kitchen counter. "You called me, interrupted my day, and wasted my time with a scam, of all things. I have every right to be a smartass and have some fun with it." He added, a smug tone obvious in the dulcets of his deep voice.

"Okay? You could've just hung up on me?" You were truly grasping at straws to justify your behaviour. It was comical.

Simon laughed dryly. "And waste an opportunity to annoy a parasitic leech like you?" He quipped.

That stunned you into silence for a moment and you couldn't help but pout a bit.

"Not to mention, what you're doing is illegal, you know that righ'? And I'm military, I could get you arrested for this." He added.

"For that, you'd need to know where I am." You retorted, maybe a bit bratilly. "Besides, I knew you were a soldier."

"And how did you know that?"

"You used the NATO phonetic alphabet while spelling 'your' name'." You replied directly. "Nobody spells 'Aiden' as 'Alpha-India-Delta-Echo-November'."

"So you knew I was military and you still went ahead with your little scam attempt? You're not that bright, are you?" He defied you, which earned him a scoff from your end.

"No, I already knew you were trolling me."

"Oh, so you just wanted to waste my time?"

"That's exactly it, Aiden."

"Sounds to me like you're just looking for trouble, da'lin'." He quipped, his voice having lowered to a gruffer tone.

Rolling your eyes, you scoffed. "Am not. I'm just enjoying myself. You're not the only one that can make jokes at people's expenses."

"No, you really are..." He tutted his tongue and shook his head. "Need I remind you you were trying to scam me, and other people?" He added in a tone that sent a shiver down your spine.

"I know what I was doing."

"Yeah? And are you proud of that? Proud of being a conniving little cunt who tries to take people's hard-earned money?" He taunted you.

You didn't reply. Of course you weren't proud. You still had a conscience! But you wouldn't tell him that. He wouldn't get the satisfaction of hearing you apologise.

"I see. You don't like what I'm saying, so you give me the silent treatment, is that it, sweet'art?" He teased. You could hear the smirk behind his words.

"I wonder if you'd still act like this if you had to face me and had to answer for yourself."

Closing your fists tight, you steel yourself again to gain some edge and reply to him. "I guess you're going to keep wondering then. Because it's not happening."

"You know, it's a shame your little computer spat out my phone number for you to call..." He trailed off.

"And why's that?"

"Because instead of anyone else, you got me... And that's just... really bad luck for you. Any other service member, you would've been fine..." He trailed off.

"What, are you some sort of General-Major-Chief thing, super high up the ladder?" You taunted.

Simon simply chuckled dryly on the other side of the line. "No. But I'm definitely the worst person you could've tried to play with."

"Oh, big scary man, what are you gonna do? Gonna come teach me a lesson?" You added, taunting him some more, clearly feeling comfortable behind your laptop, with your smartphone, sitting at home, comfortable and warm, with your pet at your feet. "Oh, I'm so scared!" You added, feigning fear in a dramatic tone.

"Is that a challenge I'm hearing, sweet'art? Inviting me to come pay you a visit?" Simon asked you, his brow cocking, despite the fact you couldn't see it.

You don't know what it was about the way he spoke. The way he said that. The way his voice sounded.

It sent a shiver down your spine, a cold sweat, like he was, for the first time, not joking around anymore.

"No...?" You murmured in reply, feeling your shoulders tensing in an unpleasant way.

"Yeah... That's an invite I'm hearing..." He disregarded what you said and chuckled. "Maybe I'll come pay you a visit then, hey? How does that sound, little leech?"

hi anon! I definetely will, I'll walk you though how I get to a graphic like this:

(warning, half of my process is just 'throw it at the wall, see what happens' so like, idk how easily explainable it is.)

first off, I get all my inspiration from pintrest, instagram graphics artist and random stuff I find. inspiration is everywhere and I always keep a notebook with me where I draw/write what I come up with.

all my photo's are from pinterest and google, I dont sell these, if you're going to please make sure the photo's you're using are free use.

all my fonts come from dafont.

the program I use is photoshop.

now, I'm going to break up my editing process into 7 parts.

inspo

images

editing

colouring

font

colour blocking

textures

hopefully it's clear enough

gather inspiration.

so I really like this and this edit I made before and they're pretty easy so I wanted to make a new one.

but normally if I wanna make an edit I scroll through my poster/edit inspo pintrest board which you can find here.

normally if I dont have such a clear way I want to go I'd make some sketches to see what works and how to get the idea out of my brain.

2. gather images.

I wanted to make a Danny one so its not to hard to find stuff as I have a specific search for this edit but I also have a growing archive of folders of drivers full of pictures ive found over time that I'd normally go through to find good stuff.

when you use google please remember to click on 'tools' and select 'size' and big otherwise you'll cry because of the bad quality

this is the picture I wanted to use for the danny edit.

I thought this would work well because it has depth and so will show the colour blocking well, it also has the flag and the shoe which is clearly recognizable.

3. trow it into photoshop baybee.

this is going to be hard to explain but I basically jsut fuck around. most of the time I kind of know what I want to do and the way I want to go but one of the first steps is always to raserize the layer.

I also make sure to copy the original picture for later so you have the same picture twice

I do this so i can be lazy and go to quick actions and remove the background because then, I get this.

without basically any work. (it's almost never perfect so after I let photoshop do it's work I fix up the parts that need it.)

this is what your layers should look like fter.

that lil black and white thingy is really useful and if you select that and go over it w the erase tool it doesnt permenantly change anything.

next thing I do is smart sharpen to spice it up, here is the sharpening settings I use.

a small problem with this picture is that it's to small for an A4 size (which is what I'm making it on) so I need to extend the background a little. which I do in the laziest way.

I select the most of the top of the picture I can and copy paste + extend it out. like this:

then, for this edit, I'm gonna add a black and white filter to the background so everything behind daniel is in black and white with an adjustment layer. I do this to keep the focus on our subject and remove any and all focus from the bg.

I also add a guassian blur to the bg to once again, keep the focus on daniel.

this is the before and after of that.

now, kinda boring right? yeaaah so now onto

4. colouring

first off CLIPPING MASK IS YOUR BESTIE!!!. if you right click on the adjustment layer and click on clipping mask it will ONLY grab the picture right below it, this way it wont affect everything else you've added to your edit.

anwyay. this is the fun part, and the only way I can explain it, is fuck around, see what you wanna do and what works.

I always add, levels, curves etc to just deepen the blacks and add some contrast. heres the before and after of that.

for this edit I kind of wanna focus on the contrast of blue and orange, kinda like the seb one but a lil different so what I'm gonna do is add hue/saturation and remove the yellow and blue from the picture.

you use this adjustment layer by grabbing the little hand and selecting the colour you want to change.

so I'm gonna play around and remove the blue and yellow from this picture. here's the before and after of that.

now I'm going to add selective colour, i wanna up to an extreme the reds in the suit. this is kinda hard as you'll obviously grab his skin with that too so I'm gonna use that black little mask on this too, it already exists when you add an adjustment layer

it's that little white box, if you select that and ue the erase tool you can basically remove that adjustment layer in places you want to, this is what it looks like on my layers and on the picture.

I want to upp the red even more then this so I'm gonna copy paste that layer two more times and THEN add a non erased selective colour and play around with the depth of the skintone until I'm happy with it.

now I'm almost happy with the colour, I want it to be a bit more blue so I'm gonna go to 'colour balance' and play around with that a little more.

this is the before and after of all that

then I'm done with the colouring on the picture itself. I'm also gonna put all my adjustment layers into a folder to make my layers less busy

I'm also going to add noise to both the BG and front picture. it just gives a bit more texture and grain that I like

5. typography!

now the stressful part lol.

I know what I'm gonna add so that makes it easy. the name of the race, place and year. this is hard to explain, I know where I'm gonna put everything because off the other edits so it's just about finding a good font.

for this I'm not gonna fuck around with shapes and text layers and adjustments etc. if you want me to explain that please ask away that's just a whole other 5k worded essay.

I know what kinda font I wanna use at first already these choices have to do with a few things which is basically one questions I ask myself:

is there a vibe that already exists around the race and/or win and how do I translate that into the font? (is it fancy, cool, magical, incredible, bold etc etc)

here's an example of how a font can change the vibe

so the vibe I want to go with for this edit is fancy smansy n stuff so I'm thinking of flowly maybe 1930s vibes this is the font I ended up with

I'm still gonna move the place around but the idea if there.

(I change and play around with my text a lot so, again, ask if you want me to go deeper into this)

6. colour blocking

now for this edit I'm going to add a box of colour, I do this if I want to add a bit of an oomph and contrast to it, I like what I have now but I want to add some contrast to make the colour and him pop even more.

this is petty easy I'm basically just going to add a colour box behind him, I'm gonna do blue as well, thats the opposite of red on the colour wheel AND its the other colour red bull is associated with, also colour theory and all that etc.

I'm also going to add gaussian blur and noise to add some texture and use and overlay. heres the diff in with and without that to show the use of it.

at this point I'm also going to move the text around (as you can see) to make it fit better with the added box

7. texture

the moment where it starts feeling like its finished.

for this edit I kinda want to add some photo texture and more grain. here are the textures I used:

I added these and put it on a screen overlay layer and added some adjustement layers to tweek the last few things.

A Comprehensive Spotify and Apple Music Comparison

Background: I was an early adopter of Spotify, having started using it in 2014 when barely anyone knew what it was and everyone I told about it was like “that’s legal?” Now look at where we are. Anyway, I dumped Spotify for Apple Music because I wanted lossless streaming. I am satisfied with Apple but there are some things I miss about Spotify. In addition, I stream music on average of 8 hrs a day each day, so I’m qualified to speak on this. If you’re contemplating making a switch in either direction here are my Pros and Cons of each.

Spotify

PROS:

Daily Mixes. The Daily Mix playlists are elite

Playlist functionality. it is easy to make a playlist, and even easier to search for playlists. When you search for playlists many from actual other users show up, not just spotify pre made playlists. Spotify pre-made playlists for certain vibes and occasions are also usually pretty good.

Podcasts in the same app is very convenient

The main organizing principle is the “Liked Songs” which I always liked

CONS:

No lossless streaming

Dumb pop ups and ads for Spotify branded podcasts and stuff on the homepage even if you pay for premium

Pays artists a pittance

Liked songs and saving albums to your library arent the same. for example if i hit the like button on an album all of those songs should show up in Liked Songs, but they don’t. irritating and stupid.

Radio function kinda sucks. It’s not really radio its just a playlist.

Synchronization of your library between desktop app and mobile app was always ass, idk if they’ve fixed it since I switched but i remember it sucking

Pro or Con depending on your perspective:

Apple Music

PROS:

Lossless (high quality) streaming. With good headphones, you really do notice a difference.

Simple UI. no distracting banners or ads. it’s easy to avoid the browse page which has all the apple branded shows and shit.

When you add a song, it’s just “add to library.” if you add an album, it’s all added to your library. there is one library. nice and easy.

Radio stations are actual radio stations like pandora kinda and when I don’t know what I want to listen to there are always lots to choose from on the home page and the mix is a good 50/50 of stuff from my library and stuff i might not know

Artists are classified by what it says on the record most of the time, so the library more resembles a physical library. For example, The Voidz were first known as Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, so that is what the first album Tyranny is under. This might be a con, but for someone obsessed with detail like myself it’s a pro.

Higher payout than spotify, by a lot. (1 cent a stream)(which still isn’t really a lot. in the grand scheme. buy physical copies of your favorite records, pls.)

Doesn’t show monthly listener numbers or stream count. that might be a con for some, but i like that because i find i’m less likely to judge by the numbers like i did before.

Great syncing between iphone app and mac os Music app without having to close either app

"Love" feature to help w your algorithm. i love to hit love on songs i love.

CONS:

ASS PLAYLIST FUNCTIONALITY. IT’S BOOTY ASS. you can’t find like any playlists beyond the ones apple makes, and those are just alright. but good luck finding playlists from other users. probably because spotify sorts them by popularity and apple sorts them by “Apple first, then everyone else”. the actual making of the playlists is kinda odd too. it’s like buggy when you use the option to add songs from the playlist vs just searching for the songs and then adding. (i will say tho the apple-curated playlists go into very niche subgenres and they're pretty decent as a jumping off point for discovery. but if you want vibe or aesthetic playlists, spotify is the go - to. apple's m.o. is more Serious Music Enjoyment)

this could very well just be me and my monkey brain needing to re-train itself but when you go to your Library, the main page has recently added songs but lists them as albums so you cant just scroll through a list, to do that you have to go to songs and sort by added date , it’s only one extra step but i miss the spotify Liked Songs list. but again thats me being neurotic and still unlearning spotify habits.

No Wrapped - well, they have their own version which recently started in 2022. It had some bugs, but I didn’t mind it. it was short sweet and to the point, and you get a “replay” playlist for the year, which actually updates every couple weeks so you know what your most played songs are all the time. I actually think no super in-depth wrapped is a Pro but some people r really into that shit.

tl;dr-Overall, the lossless streaming, higher payout for artists, and lack of bullshit, for lack of a better term, makes me enjoy apple music more than spotify. it does cost $1 more a month than spotify premium, and there is no free version of apple music, but again i’m willing to pay that. For some people, they’re not even enough music people to move on from Free Spotify. So it’s all about what matters to you.

so i might not be able to write the bsd smut fic i was initially hoping to publish during the bottom aku fan week this week... but that doesn't mean i have to give up on this fic project completely! if anything now i don't have to worry about meeting an irrefutable deadline and i can technically do anything i want. so yeah i still wanna write this fic.

while objectively that complicated/messy/aggressive type shit is their Brand, i would still like to keep things soft and gentle and Nice. that stuff is Not Impossible w these two ofc. it’s... tricky, but def possible. and i wanna achieve That. a getting together that is soft, hesitant, shy, and puts a heavy emphasis on Both of these men’s inexperience wrt romance and sex (that. is. my. so. i guess what i’m wondering is... how fast can i manage to pace the flow of the story while still keeping it soft overall. cause i don’t feel like writing a super super hot n filthy sex scene that’s charged and exhilarating and just a fucking blur of fucking. i wanna write feely, emotional sex. an aching intimate exchange of trust between them, still laced w hesitance and anxiety and sheer disbelief that this is really happening and that they can have this. both of them express unwavering consideration for each other’s comfort, constantly asking for consent and reassuring the other that “yes, i want this. yes, that feels good. yes yes yes.” they’re both taking careful, yet still enthusiastic, steps together. TENDERNESS is my ultimate goal here.

so yeah anyway i’ll try to keep thinking about this and hopefully i can actually come up w some ideas that i wanna implement into whatever this fic eventually becomes. just haven’t had enough time.... or horniess.... to get down to some real brainstorming yet lmao

ok yall in order to make this au ive now read all thirty-something appearances Thad has made in comics just so i can figure out how to make it as canon compliant as possible. theres a google doc of notes, and im in too deep to stop now.

some highlights:

-Thad refers to Bart as his brother no less than four times, which is hilarious because after their first encounter Bart's attitude towards Thad basically amounts to "ugh, this guy? again?" Thad trying very hard to establish himself as a brother/twin aka equal rather than a derivative copy/clone while Bart could not give less of a shit is never not going to be a combination of very funny and very sad.

-CRAYDL has a Technical Mode for when Thad just wants information, a Silent Running mode for when Thad wants quiet, and a Conversation Mode for talking informally. CRAYDL doesn't have to follow these modes tho and often interrupts their own information spiel to give needless commentary I love them

-Iris wrote a book about the flashes and mentions Thad in it, when Thad meets her he quotes the part about himself and?? how weird would it be to read a book about yourself being this evil villainous figure in someones life before youve even actually done anything

-Thad brings CRAYDL Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones CDs from the past just because CRAYDL likes their music

-technoplasm is actually the coolest weirdest technology that ever gets introduced and its literally never mentioned after Impulse 1995 this is a travesty

-Thad CAN actually phase through objects i was tricked by his prime earth wiki page that says he cant? which is weird bc even in his singular rebirth appearance its never mentioned what his powers actually are at that point

-Thad's evil plans always fail spectacularly, but he constantly reframes it like "pretending to fail" was his plan all along and its amazing. Idk if it was supposed to be part of his character or the writers trying to make him more intimidating, but it results in Thad looking like the worlds sorest loser to the point where he's so in denial about it that he convinces himself he's actually won. It's perfect.

-Thad's first canon appearance after disappearing into the speed force is in Flash #217 standing in the background at captain boomerangs funeral like? out of all the places to be???

-the Very Extreme tonal shift from Thad's appearances in Impulse versus Thad's appearances in Teen Titans 2003 is never more apparent than when Bart straight up breaks Thad's legs in order to keep him from running for a few minutes in issue #46

-Thad's teleportation hoop gets retconned into being called a teleportal which is the cowards way out. t-hoop or nothing.

-one of Thad's evil schemes involves strapping a bomb to Barts girlfriend and making it so that if Bart deactivates the bomb a plasma canon will automatically go off and vaporize him. to solve this problem Bart just? deactivates the bomb, sets off the canon, and then just runs around the circumference of the earth to make the canon blow itself up. ok??????

-Thad is inexplicably in a relationship with Sungirl for like two issues (#43-45) of teen titans and this is never mentioned or brought up again

-at some point after Thad is frozen and put in the Flash museum by Wally, the Flash museum gets set on fire in Flash #241 and Wally has to be like "Oh wait I left a boy in there" and takes the time to contemplate just killing Thad before finally carting his frozen body outta there like Wally?? Are you good buddy?

-final crisis rogues revenge is also very funny because it steps on the gas so hard trying to make you hate Thad so very much. which is fair he sucks so bad in it, but weirdly enough his body count was actually at 0 pre rogues revenge. he racks it up to 11 by the end with 10 security guards and one literal infant.

-actually rogues revenge is weird to read right after flash:FMA because its made pretty clear in FMA that the rogues really do want to kill flash. they werent tricked or coerced or anything, Thad went "I can make it so you can kill the Flash" and all the Rogues said "sign me up". there was no subterfuge in the "killing flash" thing. they all simultaneously shoot bart with ice and fire and lightning, and sure it was in a panicked "i dont wanna go back to prison" thing but WOW does rogues revenge want to make you think Thad did everything including pulling the trigger.

-in Teen Titans #98-100 a new Inertia shows up, clearly different from the last one, and with no knowledge of what the previous Thad did to Bart, and after Bart beats him unconscious they straight up Never Mention him again. the main fight is about Superboy Prime, so the rest of the issue is taken up with that. So I'm sat there like: is he. is he just lying there? did he escape? where did he go? does nobody have any interest in why he was there is the first place?

-the questions continue when New Thad is dissing the costume "they" gave him. like what? who is "they"?? is it Superboy Prime?? who are you and where did you come from sir???

I did not save the final psd for that gif so this turned out a bit different than the actual header but the process—which assumes some photoshop familiarity, but includes lots of examples—is the same and gets us really close

if anything feels skipped, confusing, or glossed over, pls feel free to ask questions 😊

FOREGROUND — alright so we’ve got a shot of lexi from saved by the bell

— before cropping, convert to smart object at its full size so it’ll retain its quality in case there’s any need to resize later

— then just crop to mobile header dimensions: 640 x 360. and adjust the shot until it fills that space the way you’d like

— there are a few ways to mask but for a still frame esp, I think the easiest is object selection (W) because you get pretty clean edges. I find rectangle mode misses too much, so set it to lasso mode on ‘add to selection’

I missed the entire desk but bc of add to selection, I can just loop around and add it without losing what’s already selected

you’ll notice you truly do not need a steady hand for this, just get close and the tool will do the heavy lifting

— add a layer mask

— then just brush over the missed parts (like the edge of the desk) and erase the extra (like where it caught some of the bookshelf by her shoes)

— so that’s pretty clean except there’s a noticeable stroke around the layer (much more obvious against a background). if there’s a way to avoid this idk what it is! but it's simple enough to get rid of with the brush. in this case I used 10px at 60% hardness + 100% smoothing

— so now you can make any adjustments on coloring and sharpening. running through it really quickly, I got this

— and that looks fine so the foreground is done!

BACKGROUND — for the background, just add a gradient layer

like i mentioned, I do not have a psd for our header but the first overlay in the pack works the same as any of the others, so I’ll be using 'falling sparkles' for this tutorial. but there are like 43 options. lots to have fun with

anyway

— create video timeline if you haven’t already

— open the overlay psd of your choosing. drag (or copy then paste) it into the header file above the gradient

— this overlay is only 500 x 281. you can duplicate it to cover the extra space but it’s honestly not that much smaller so I just resized it

— blending will get rid of the black background and just leave the sparkles

if you want dark or colorful sparkles you could invert and/or use the other modes (really good video on the topic btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1D9ijh3_-I), but we’re gonna keep white sparkles over the gradient, so we only want the lightening modes

literally any one of them work fine, it’s just a matter of preference. I am always a sucker for linear dodge (add) which gives us this:

BORDER

— you could do what I’m entirely sure I originally did and pull a vector off pixabay if not google tbh and then clip layers to it and use masks and do too much

however pen tool is quicker + less messy

— use the curvature pen tool. as you leave anchor points, it will curve the line for you. it doesn’t matter what color you use (esp since you can alter it later) but stroke will determine how thick the upper line is

tweak the anchor points to clean up curves

— copy the line shape layer, then paste in place (ctrl + shift + v)

— raise one line higher, leaving a gap between them at whatever thickness you like

— rasterize the lower line, use the magic wand to select both the line and the empty space below it

then brush over everything

— when you brush over the selection, you lose smoothness. there’s a trick to smoothing it out but honestly just copy the upper line (which should still be a shape layer), paste in place, and lower until it rests just above the rasterized layer. same effect, no brainpower

just to show the difference:

ok sike. actually the overlay is a good 200ish frames so whether you export from timeline or flatten to clips/convert to frames, remember to shorten the work area first

she’s so selfless, even with dates she’s always making sure you’re comfortable with wherever and whatever you’re doing, hands always entangled and she’s always willing to pay for whatever you want

E = Equal (Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?)

dominant for sure, whether it’d be in bed or not

F = Fights (Would they forgive you easily? What are they like while fighting with you?)

ryujin definitely holds less grudges ever since she met you, she doesn’t feel the need to see the people who have made her suffer, suffer, she doesn’t feel the need to prove herself to anyone, doesn’t listen to mean comments or people who just want to bring her down.

mm depends ? she trusts you more than anyone, and she trusts both your friends, so when she gets jealous its more of a “why the fuck is that guy looking at my girlfriend like he wants to eat her” kind of thing, it usually involves someone she’s never seen before, and it leads to her walking over to the two of you and not so subtly placing a hand on your waist, calling you all sorts of nicknames while glaring at them

she initiated the first kiss! she’ll peck your lips so many times in the day but as soon as she has the chance she will pull you to the side and get her well earned dose of kisses. her kisses usually range from short, repeated pecks, they are goofy at times, sensual even, and she finds herself biting your lip gently every once in a while

of course she does, like i said, the two of you enjoy scrapbooking, that means making your own scrapbook with your own photos taken by each other or strangers you asked on the street, writing down funny highlights of your dates to remember whenever you go through it. also, she has you as her background, it’s a funny yet endearing sight to see her flaunting the front of her phone to everyone so they would catch a glimpse of you as her wallpaper.

so much fun, lots of dancing, kissing, and teasing, specially when it’s time to take your garter off ;)). but the most endearing moment is cutting the cake, it’s funny, nerve-wracking because everyone is looking at you, yet a beautiful memory you’ll hold on to forever as long as the photos capturing the moment.

Logan walked out of his room, humming a small song (Crofters the Musical, but that was only for him to know) dress shoes clicking softly on the wooden floors while he skimmed over the book in his hands. The mindscape was just as bustling as usual, he could hear Janus lecturing Remus in the darker half of the mind about how stealing Roman’s sword and turning it into a dagger was inappropriate and that he’ll have to make Roman a new one. Roman himself was sulking in his room playing Burn from Hamilton on loop because “Remus is dead to me like Hamilton was dead to Eliza”…. Logan didn’t get it. Virgil’s music was turned on max; like always but this time he was trying to drown out Roman’s complaints with My Chemical Romance. Patton was most likely baking in the kitchen once again.

Logan flipped open to the page he left off on; he had just started this book so he wasn’t too far in. He couldn’t help the grin that spread on his face as he started to read,

The person who was supposed to love me the hardest-the most unconditionally-has always wanted me gone. No matter how hard I tried to be perfect. Now, this boy-who knows all my imperfections and has seen all my hurt laid bare-wants me to sta- Logan’s reading was interrupted by a door clicking open.

Logan looked up to see Patton closing his bedroom door. An ear to ear grin plastered on his face, it was a little too much teeth for his comfort. Patton locked eyes with the blue side, “Hiya kiddo!”

Logan slipped his bookmark back into the thin pages, “Greetings Patton.” Logan waited for a second or two for Patton to walk beside him; after all, when someone comes out of their door, you have to wait for the other to join you on your walk.

And Patton did, they started towards the staircase; Logan tracing the book pages with his fingers. “So! Where ya headed kiddo?!” Logan had always thought Patton was a little too cheery for his tastes, but that was just the father’s personality, he couldn’t change that.

“I’m headed to the imagination to read,” for a brief second, Logan forgot who I was talking to, “It's actually quite an interesting book! The Dangerous Art of Blending In is considered a must-read for pride month and is based on the author's true story,” Logan continued to talk; eyes twinkling with excitement and pure joy as he went on to explain the main character’s arc so far.

The blue side steeled his expression to his happy grin, “That sounds interesting kiddo! Can I see it?”

Logan grew stiff, but continued walking with Patton until they made it to the top of the stairs, Logan shifted his eyes downward and handed the book to Patton. Morality swiped the book straight out of Logan’s hands, he pulled it open to a random page and started to read. Logan watched in horror as the older side’s expression shifted from mild curiosity to confusion, to disgust, and finally to anger.

“Why are you reading these horrible things, Logan?” Patton’s smile was gone, eyes cold and disapproving as he stared into Logan’s eyes. “This is something Remus would read. Why. Are. You. Reading. It.” Patton stood tall, teeth formed into a sneer as he stepped closer.

Logan took a small step backward, “I-I-”

“Shut up.” Logan hit the wall when Patton hissed through his teeth, “Come on Lo-Lo! If you read stuff like this, you’re just as bad as Remus and Janus! You don’t want to be like them, do you?” Patton was inches away from Logan’s face. His breath hot on his skin, raising the hair on the back of his neck.

Logan gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. “W-well, I thought that Even and Henry’s story was a sweet story about overcoming hardships, even when you’re put in a bad si-” The stinging pain of Patton’s hand hitting his face stopped him in his tracks. Tears leaked down as Logan raised his hand to his cheek.

Logan looked at Patton with wide eyes, “y-yo-” The blunt end of a punch struck his face, Logan could only stand in shock as he felt his lip start to leak crimson, “Patton stop!”

The so-called father pushed his hand against Logan’s neck, keeping him in place even while Logan clawed at his hand and own throat, attempting to pry Patton off. His nails dug into his flesh, small warm droplets of blood pricking out of the skin as Patton tightened his hold.

“You, Lo-Lo-Bear, need to learn when to shut up~” Logan was sure that his neck was going to be bruised, all he could do was wheeze a suffocated breath in response. Patton applied his sugar-sweet smile once more, looking into Logan’s eyes with a twisted fascination.

Logan attempted to speak, he knew that he couldn’t. But words were his weapon. Without his voice he was helpless, and he refused to give in to the father figure’s torment. Patton had always been particularly touchy, touching them when it wasn’t necessary. Hands grazing over their shoulders or swiping things from their hand to look it over. Patton had also always been particularly violent. Pushing them against walls over little things and whispering threats. It didn’t make these situations any less terrifying though. And this was the first time Patton had taken it this far.

Logan’s hands were covered in blood. His blood. Gore covered his fingers and Patton’s hand, a few small beads hitting the floor; as well as Patton’s cartoon-themed sneakers. Long thin scratches ran up and down his neck, his nails had thick pieces of skin underneath the nails.

Patton raised an eyebrow at the side’s attempt to pry him off, he huffed a breath and let go of Logan’s neck.

Logic fell against the wall, hands immediately wrapping around the sluggish bleeding at his neck, Logan breathed in short ragged breaths eyes wide and staring at the floor. Breathing in the sweet addiction of oxygen.

Patton smiled, eyes skewed shut while the side on the floor held himself tightly. “There! Didn’t you learn your lesson kiddo?” Patton waited a second or two for Logan to respond, his breathing calm and steady as he swirled the crimson liquid on his hand. “Right kiddo?” Patton bore his cold eyes onto the crumbled side, he barely waited a second before seizing Logan’s wrist and pulling him to his feet.

The cyan side held Logan by his tie, right in front of the staircase. Logan could barely process anything before the side in front of him smiled, locking his eyes. And then, he let go and pushed Logan down the steps.

Logan fell, hitting almost every stair on his way down. He could feel his blood vessels burst as his arms scraped on the wooden railing, splinters indenting into his flesh. His head spun when it hit the stairs, glasses flying off. Logan could barely tell what was happening to him as he hit his head repeatedly, he knew that he heard a crunch from his left arm and right leg when he hit the bottom landing.

Logan laid on his face, breathing hard and rapidly. His mind was fogged over, no coherent thought could pass through as the ringing sound that suddenly plagued his mind filled his senses. He couldn’t hear his father figure climb down the steps, taking care to step over the blood spatters that covered them.

Patton poked Logan in the ribs with his shoe, giggling when the side groaned in pain. “You really should be more careful kiddo! Stairs can be pretty dangerous you know!” The cyan side took one last look at his victim before pulling Logan’s book from his pocket.

Patton opened the book to its center point, before grabbing each side of the novel and ripping it in half. Pages floated down like butterfly wings, gracefully falling as they surrounded the broken side in bitter mockery of the book. Patton threw what was remaining of the book onto Logan, his demeanor just as peppy and upbeat as ever, even while covered in another’s blood.

“You really need to be more careful with your possessions, Logic, such a tragedy, you know I love a good book.” Patton walked back up the staircase to his bedroom, while Welcome to the Black Parade blasted from Virgil’s speakers, Logan barely responded to the father figments door slamming.

Logan had no idea of how long he let his blood stain the carpet, but his mind grew even fuzzier as the room grew black. He allowed the sweet bliss of sleep to cloud his function telling him to stay awake. He closed his eyes, only to have someone shake him.

“-GAN! LOGAN WAKE UP!” The panicked voice of the deceitful side flooded his head, he tried to force his eyes open; muscles spasming. “There we go! Come on starlight! Stay awake! Remus is coming back with the medkit! Just stay with me!” Logan followed his voice, the smoothness and composed attitude of the yellow side was gone. Logan hated seeing the silver-tongued side like that.

“I-I see you have a copy of The Dangerous Art of Blending In! It’s such a good book right! I l-ove how the author wrote Henry! Don’t you? Come on Logan, stay awake!” Logan looked into the terrified side’s eyes. The enchanting yellow and brown eyes kept his focus even if they were clouded in fear, he wondered why he never noticed the flecks of green surrounding the slivered pupil before.

“I GOT THE MEDKIT!” The horse voice of Remus broke his concentration on the pretty eyes, why did everyone call Janus a monster anyway? Was it the scales? Logan could only wonder as the two dark sides hastily applied the first aid. Voices scared and rushed as they faded into the background, Logan could only focus on how Remus’ mustache was perfectly curled into its position, even when it was soaked in tears. Tears? Why were they crying? Patton said that they were monsters, and monsters don’t cry. Then again, monsters don’t help people either… 

Logan watched the two sides dig into the kit as fast as they could. Janus even removed his gloves.

Logan gazed at them tiredly, mouth lightly sagged open, “There we go! I think we can move him now Jan!” “Good! Let’s get him out of here before Patton comes back, I think he did this…”

Logan could feel his body raising to meet the ruffles of Remus’ tunic. The small teeth that embellished the ends of the fasteners rubbed against his shoulder. He didn’t have the energy to make any noise as the two sides took him back to their side.

He doubted he would ever return to the picture-perfect family he once belonged to ever again. He had his actual family, ready to help him through everything.

Janus bought him a new copy of his book too.

Background: The girl is able to see Luke, Reggie and Alex, after playing a small set with them.

A/N: idk man, i just think people who play bass are really cool- and i immediately thought of him when i heard this song so- It’s also currently snowing here, so i thought i’d hunker down and do some writing!

A/N 2: OKAY SO THIS TOOK 2 WEEKS LONGER THAN I EXPECTED, PLEASE APPRECIATE it 😅

“Are you sure about this?” Julie asked.

“Nope- but we’re doing it-” You replied. 

“Hell yeah!” Flynn cheered.

I’d taught her drums, with the help of Alex, just for this very song. I were really talented music-wise, so when Julie had trouble writing a song and i helped her, she felt she had to tell me the truth about her band. At first I thought it was a bit weird, I always felt like I was being watched, but after a while it became more comforting. 

Alex said that it was a great idea, even if he didn’t like me, he would be nice about it. Which I knew, but it didn’t relieve any of the fears I had. 

A stage hand, in full black, came up to me, “You guys are on in 5-”

“I’m so nervous-” I said looking to Julie and Flynn for comfort.

“You’re gonna be great!” 

“He may not even know its about him, and if he rejects you- just deny it!” Julie said

“but- then it wouldn’t have been worth it-” I replied, looking for an excuse to run for it.

“Now you’re just looking for excuse- take a deep breath,” Flynn took a deep breath for me to mirror, “you got this. and I’m 98 percent sure, he likes you too.”

I took another deep breath, finally calming myself before hearing Julie shriek.

“Um.. y/n! Our bassist just cancelled, i don’t know how we’re going to do this-”

I swore under my breath, trying to stay calm, we could fix this! 

“Doesn’t Chloe play the bass in the school’s band?” Julie nodded, so i stuck my head out of the curtain, to make sure she was there. I scanned the crowd for Chloe, before catching Reggie’s eye. I found Chloe, and i signaled for her to come backstage, and with a quick nod to Reggie, who looked concerned, i hid back behind the curtain.

“Okay Chloe- you can play the bass right?” I asked, as soon she walked in.

“Yeah, i guess so-” 

“Aren’t you the best bass player at school? At least that’s what I heard” I said, trying to pump her up. 

“Oh.” she said, blushing, “sure, what’s up?”

“Can you play for us? Y/N here,” Flynn said, pointing to me, “Likes Reggie and she wants to tell him in a song, but our bassist cancelled, so can you help?”

“it’s a really simple tab!” I said, try to comfort the worried Chloe.

“Oh- Okay. I think i can do that.” 

“You’re gonna be great,” Julie said to Chloe, before looking to me, “And you, too. He’s gonna love it.” 

Flynn mocked another deep breath for me to copy, as the stagehand came back to tell us we had to go on.

“Shit! We didn’t get to practice!” Chloe said.

“I’ll just tell you when we get on.” I said, trying to act like i’d gotten my act together. I had not. 

“Next up: A small band performing an original song: Please welcome... Y/N, Julie, Flynn, and...” the announcer trailed off, looking for our original bassist, but finding Chloe, “Chloe!” 

The crowd cheered, but hearing the boys cheering the loudest was the surge of adrenaline i needed. 

I walked over to Chloe, and whispered 4 basic notes in her ear, before mocking the beat on my electric guitar. Reggie looked up, and raised an eyebrow, not knowing i knew how to play bass. When i caught him doing a little smirk and nod, I mockingly shrugged my shoulders, and began to play.

I danced in the desert in the pouring rain. Drank with the devil and forgot my name Woke with somebody when the morning came. No one there to shame me for my youth. ‘Cause i wouldn’t be with you.

I saw Alex and Luke, jumping around in their seats, dancing to the song, but it was Reggie, just standing there admiring the song, that made my heart skip a beat. I took every ounce of courage I had, locked eyes with Reggie for a moment and sang the next lyric.

And then I found me a lover who can play the bass, he’s kinda quiet but his body ain’t.

Luke and Alex stopped jumping, turned to Reggie, who was blushing profusely.

“Bro- Is this song about you?” Luke said, playfully pushing him.

“I think it is!” Alex said, knowing it was definitely about him.

“So she likes you, too?” Luke asked.

So she likes you, too.

Hearing that three letter word at the end of the question, made my heart flutter. It was a bit concerning Reggie was still staring at me in disbelief. 

I’ll come around.

And with the last line, the song was over, and I now had to face Reggie. My hands were shaking by the time i got off stage. 

“OMG! OMG! Go to talk to him!” Julie was practically screaming at me, but it was the motivation I needed, so I took her advice.

I was walking towards the boys to ask where Reggie was, while looking down and my hands, which were still shaking, I bumped into someone.

“Hey there!” the familiar voice said.

oh shit-

“Hey Reggie!” i replied, trying to keep my heart from launching out of my throat. 

“So about the song...” he started.

“yeah...?”

“did you mean what you said in those lyrics?” Reggie asked, my eyes refusing to meet his, but if i had looked up, i would’ve seen how much he wanted me to say ‘yes’.

“uh- well... yes- but no- well... it depends...” i trailed off as Reggie took my face in his hands, forcing our eyes to meet. 

“do you like me?”

“yeah, yeah i do.” his face lit up.

“really?!”

“yeah!” i replied, trying to match his excitement.

“wow! how cool!” he took my hands into his own and asked, “would you, Y/N, make me the happiest bassist on Earth and get coffee with me?” 

“I would love to, but-” i saw Reggie’s face drop, “You’re a ghost, you don’t eat!”

so the implied abuse warning in my drawing is not really an immediate thing to see. sure, there's blood but that's more of "henry losing his eye" symbolism because hehe idk xdddd

i used seven types of flowers for this drawing based on the meanings that came from this website: https://www.almanac.com/flower-meanings-language-flowers and here's the flowers i used: begonias (the red ones in the bouquet) - beware belladonas/belledonas (gradient of pink to white, one is over henry's mouth) - silence (see what i did there? :) ) butterfly weed (small, yellow, grouped up) - let me go (withered) pink carnation (the one stuck in his eye) - i'll never forget you daisy - i'll never tell (though it also means innocence and loyal love, i saw the other meaning and went "OOOOOOO FUCK YEAH") hyssop (blue long plant) - sacrifice (withered) red chrysanthemum (deep red, petals facing downward) - i love you so two out of the seven are withered because it's supposed to represent that those feelings are kinda non existent compared to the other ones. there is no love in the relationship, and henry would rather forget william than remember all of the trauma he went through.

i also decided to put him in a church not bc "oh that's usually where marriages happen" but bc, again, sybolismmmm rfgvbhn so i was kinda thinking that when henry first married, he didn't really marry in a church since neither he nor carol were very religious. while they both came from a somewhat christian background, they just decided that "meh idk if i believe in God anymore :/" and just got married in a really pretty spot somewhere idk. but during henry's marriage w william, they did it in a church because william believed that their marriage was "holy" and "pure". it's also saying "fuck you carol" bc it also kinda implies that william thinks henry's first marriage was "unholy"

on the commission

I was going to talk about it in an older post but then i realized there was just too much I wanted to talk about so here’s my thoughts

Again, SPOILERS + DISCLAIMER, CW for blood/gore and death mentions

I know the tv show is an adaptation of the comics and it should not be a word for word copy of the original comics, but basically changing the WHOLE world is something that is kinda hard to overlook. And one of the main things that was changed in the show was the commission (which is actually called the TEMPS AETRRNALIS in the comic but I am just nitpicking here idrc). As I talked about in another post, the umbrella academy show has a tendency to remove all fantastical or otherworldly aspects from the comics and replaces them with more average stuff. They decided to keep the commission tho (since it would have definitely been too hard to replace) but in doing so they transformed it into something completely different

The Handler: she is a tv show exclusive character. Never appears in the comics and no, she did not recruit Five (he was captured while he was time traveling and also for the record Five had some good times in the apocalypse) I also want to take time to point out the antisemitic traits in her character and how harmful this is (especially since she had ZERO business existing in the first place but whatever 🙄) and i am going to be VERY petty here but UGH EVERYTIME I HEARD HER SPEAK SPANISH I WAS LIKE 🤬🤬🤬 THATS NOT EVEN A REAL SAYING YOU FUKCING IDIOT JUST STOP IT!!! I SWEAR IF I HAVE TO HEAR YOUR TERRIBLE SPANISH AGAIN I WILL [REDACTED]

Carmichael/AJ: Yeah he’s the goldfish guy... im gonna be honest I did NOT like him in the show he felt too out of place and his including was too forced. In the comics you don’t really question it (there are weirder stuff than a talking goldfishh) but tuatv world is so blerg seeing Carmichael there is off putting. He doesn’t belong there and frankly his cameos was more of a "pleasing the comic fans" strategy imo (same way with the Hargreeves being an alien revelation it was more a "look!!! We read the comics too!!! We know he was an alien!!!" but at this point it felt too out of place and forced and made no sense in the plot). Also also:

See one of the main themes in tua is personal identity/humanity and it’s somethings all of the siblings struggle with throughout all three volumes, but Five's specifically is lineked directly with the commission -> they performed a surgery where they inserted the dna of the most notorious killers into him. This page in particular illustrates my point perfectly "you cut out my humanitywith a scalpel" is such a raw line and by reducing the commission to just "the bad guys" in the show takes away so much depth from Five's character. *i would like to point out the commission had nothing to do with apocalypse suite they only wanted to retrieve a rouge agent and save the world (even tho they had to kill JFK to do so). Five is an assassin, the line between human and animal is blurry (*insert parallels o Diego and Luther here*) and he’s been living for some 50+ years COMPLETELY ALONE... like that would make anyone go at least a little bit crazy. (and the whole "im sorry i gave you such a hard time as a kid" speech is BULLSHIT AND COMPLETELY OOC Five has been a little bitch his whole life

Hazel and Cha Cha: ok this ones are a little bit sensite and more complicated because I get why they would tone down their characters; they can be disturbing and that wouldn’t sit well with most viewers, BUT at the same time why change them completely? I loved them in the comics, they were, in their own crazy way, funny (read Hazel and Cha Cha dave Christmas and you’ll get what I mean)

Exhibit a we see Cha Cha absolutely down with becoming a scout girl just so he can get cookies:

Exhibit b: they were just these crazy assassins, absolute chaos, probably shared a single brain cell. They seriously thought the best way to kill Five was to end the world? Come on they are absolutely nuts

But the show didn’t even make them at least a little bit crazy... they didn’t even have them wear the masks :( why? And Hazel’s plot w/ agnes? Idk seemed a bit weird to me bc they try to show you he’s "good"? but at the same time he has no real problem killing/torturing other people??? To me including them in s1 was just bad writing, the writers tried to cram too much of the comics into s1 and then were left with very little to work with in s2

I like the fact that we do get to see more of the commission in the tv show compared to the comics, but just like with most aspects of the world it’s watered down, it’s too normal ig

Look at these panels from the Hazel and Cha Cha spin-off:

Look at the agents in panel 2! I mean, there’s a skull! Is that a robot?! What’s tat thing in the mask in the background?

Now look at this panel from Dallas:

They’re fighting robots! Look at how much more interesting the design for the agents are!!! There’s no uniforms, they’re (most likely) not all humanIt’s so much more interesting and weird! And in such a normal world they have in the comics the commission doesn’t sit well, and it feels so boring after reading the comics. In Number Five's own words:
