Not to hate on y’all’s little meow meow, but Miguel O’Hara replacing a dead version of himself was absolutely batshit insane of him.

You know what fuck me the most is the ATSV, the fact that Miles wanted to go to that specific collage. He wanted to study a black holes and stuff to maybe one day make traveling throught time and space possible. I started to cry why he said that.
Why it's meningful? It tell us that Miles missed all of his spider friends and he would do anything to see them again. So knowing that both Gwen and Peter B (his best friend and kind of older brother), could visit him but didn't, must hurt him a lot and let him belive that they didn't care as much about him as he did about them.
I get why they didn't, but it's from Miles point. To be honest Peter B was the only person who could make Miles stop if Miguel didn't fuck their moment by trucking down Peter'a device. You could see that he was getting throught Miles defenaces. Sure Miles and Gwen are great, but Miles and Peter B, had a more deep (kind of soulmates if i dare to say) relationships.
Let's get back on track throught, because I can talk about them forever. Peter B had a small cameo, but how impactfull. I hope we will get more od them in the last part, like in the first movie. For a reason it was Peter who was the last to say goodbay.
On the outside Miles is all colours and rainbows so it's easy to overlook how unsecure and lonely he really is. Sure he has amazing parents (I adore all three of them), but as far we know he didn't have any friends before he became spider man. He stayed away from home most of the time, so he must felt really alone in new school. No wonder he wanted to get the hell away from there.
People say that he doesn't know what loss is, but he does. He lost in two days Aaron, Gwen, Peter B and other spider people he genuinly care about and with who he could just be himself. Sure he befriend his rommate, but it's not the same.
Most people don't see it, because Miles is good at shrugging it off as if nothing really happend, but if you pay attention you see how sad he was at the beggining. How he light up a little when Gwen showed up. Which btw was a little cruel on her part. She came by and told him about spider society and then just left him again, teling him that he's not allowed to go. I mean it would be better is she didn't visit him at all.
Thankfull Miles ia not good in listening to what others tell him to do unless it's Peter B of course.
I will be rewatching it again on Friday, so if anything new will get my attention I will update it for sure.

Across the Spider-Verse stuff
I really went all out on this one
I can 100% understand Miguel’s mission goals. I understand what he was trying to get through to Miles. That each and every Spider-Man has a journey they go through with hurdles that make them who they’re supposed to be. That’s what each and every one of us have in our lives too. The things that we encounter shape us into who we are supposed to be. Both good and bad. Without Uncle Ben (or an Uncle Ben figure), Peter doesn’t become Spider-Man.
That being said, of course Miles is going to try to stop his father’s death. Hell, Pavitr Prabhakar was moments away from his “Captain Stacy” moment and even he said “I can do both”. Miles would’ve tried to save his father even if he hadn’t known it was how the story was supposed to play out. Just like Pavitr was about to attempt. Miguel was trying to prevent the collapse of Miles’s universe. You can’t change what is fated to happen, which in a way is a callback to the What If episode with Dr. Strange where he was trying to save Christine repeatedly, but she ended up always dying (not always in the same fashion).
However, I do want to point out that Miguel doesn’t have the ability to see into the future. He doesn’t know exactly how Miles’s story is suppose to play out. He is going by how the pattern has worked out so far for other Spider-Men. Even LYLA says that his father’s death will occur in 2 days according to the model. But that model is obviously different for everyone as Gwen’s father was a Captain and was still alive (and since he is no longer a Captain, that Captain Stacy moment won’t happen to her). We have already seen slight variations in each Spider-verse story. It’s not always “Uncle Ben”, it’s Peni’s father, Gwen’s friend Peter, Miles’s Uncle Aaron. So who’s to say how the survival of Miles’s father will impact the canon. Gwen posited him that same question, if he knew what would happen if Miles saved his father. She knows what happened to Miguel, but what Miguel did was different. He slipped into the role of a version of himself who had died (which makes me wonder, what did Miguel do to his body? How easy was it to slip into that version’s role? Did he watch enough to know what’s happening in that universe?). He didn’t prevent something that was supposed to happen. If he had been able to see the future, he would’ve been able to see the consequences his actions would have.
Miguel claims that if the spider that bit Miles hadn’t been taken from Earth-42, then that Earth would have a Spider-Man. But how does he know that? He’s assuming it would because that’s “what the model shows”. He says that if Miles hadn’t been bitten, then his Earth’s original Spider-Man would’ve lived. But how does he know? Again he’s assuming because “that’s what the model shows”. What if Miles was fated to be there? What if that Peter was fated to die at that moment? Honestly I don’t think Spider-Man would’ve fared differently in that fight.
I have a feeling we’ll explore more of this in Beyond the Spider-Verse. I think Miguel is basing a lot of his beliefs off of what LYLA reports. I don’t know if LYLA takes into account the variations in each Spider-Man story. She goes by a baseline but doesn’t take into account the differences. Since Gwen’s “Captain Stacy” moment hadn’t yet happened (and now won’t happen), perhaps Miles’s Captain Stacy moment doesn’t involve his father. Just like how Peni’s father’s death was her Uncle Ben catalyst.

Someone probably already spotted this, but I think it's cool so I'm gonna share it anyways. I was watching the trailer for Into the Spiderverse, and I came across a cool line.
Miles asks "How am I supposed to save the whole world?"
Peter responds "Well you can't think about saving the world. You have to think about saving one person."
The second movie is about Miles risking the world because he wants to save one person! His dad! I loooove when sequels connect back to ideas of the first movie.

I propose the reason Aunt May moved to Florida is because that’s where Doctor Olivia Octavius is recovering from getting hit by that truck in the first movie

Okay so, I just realized something about the spider that bit Miles in "Into the Spider Verse": Alchemax (the company who's logo adorns the spider), isn't part of Miles Morales' lore in the comics, but IS part of Miguel O Hara's (the Spider-Man of 2099's) lore.
Given that the post credits scene confirms that Spider-Man 2099 is from one of the other universes the particle collider could access, we can infer that the Alchemax Spider is ALSO from the Spider-Man 2099 universe, probably having crossed over during a prior test of the particle collider. (Remember, the activation we saw during RIPeter's and Green Goblin's battle was a failed attempt by the Kingpin to abduct an alternate version of his dead wife and son into New York).
This is why it glitched out when Miles touched its corpse, it wasn't native to Miles' universe and, even in death, its particles were being torn apart the same way the visiting Spider-Heroes' were!
I'm not sure if this will factor into Across the Spider Verse, but it's a neat bit of foreshadowing WHAT is going on in those tunnels Miles and Aaron were visiting.

I'M DEEP INTO THE SPIDERVERSE MADNESS so. Idk how much of this tracks, but I kind of see a metaphor going on for how each miles turned out. The social condition of being an immigrant teenager that loses a parent and the other parent is buried in work to make a living for you both is shit. Spiderman Miles was given a chance and became what he could be. Villain Miles didn't have any chance and became what he became. We see talk here and there abt "lost youth" that lives in a bad situation, but that "before joining a gang, he was know for his love of sport" and etc. I think that is an underlying theme. Also social pressure that sometimes comes from within poc communities that you "have" to deal with shit to become "stronger" is reflected most of the spiders doing nothing to change a system because they're so beat down they can't imagine another way of living.
Thank for sending this ask, because I had to think for a while how I feel about it.
I get where you came from and it's true in a way, but in the other it kind of isn't? At this point we know that every spider man, every Peter Parker or Miles Morales, etc. is different. Sure they have same backgrounds, or canon events that are similiar and care about similiar people (like M.J. for Peters for egzample) or like the same stuff but they're different at their core or hearts.
We know also that they deal differently with the loss. Gwen shout herself from the world to avoid getting hurt again. Peter B became completly depressed and stoped fighting. Tom's Peter decided let other's go and to focus on himself for a while. Miles get motivated to study harder and become a better person and spider man.
Even if this Miles lost a father I don't think he would become a Prowler too. He's too good to be ok with hurting other people. Would he steel food or money if it would be neceasery? Yes, but I honestly think he's smart enought to figure other way to help Rio.
There must be something in Earth-42 Miles's past, that made him prone to violance or maybe he was always kind of this way. Hurting or even killing others is always a choice. Maybe he found out sooner about Aaron (and didn't see him as this cool dud who always supported him like our Miles). Maybe Jefferson was a dirty cop in his universe and that's why he died. We will never know, but I belive there's more to his story than only, his dad death and him didn't having other choice.

miles is taller than 42-miles because of his spider bite. This is like when your younger brother have a grow spurt and now are slightly taller than you.

Minor spoilers for Into the Spiderverse and Across the Spiderverse.
I rewatched ITSV last night, and seeing how different Peter B was in the first movie was a little jarring. My man was depressed, he lied a bunch, he was deflecting, he didn't want responsibility, he straight up was going to leave Miles to handle things by himself - Now cut to the second movie where he's excited, smiling genuinely, is quick to jump in to help Miles, very vocal about praising him, and so on so forth.
Peter B got his life in order and is better off for it. I love to see that.
