re: that previous rb about magic and math I wanna sprawl and monologue about magic systems and how I like to think about people interacting with them

I use how people use science and tech in their everyday lives to get an understanding on how people would "realistically" interact with magic and how they would perceive it. But also on a more specific level, there's a comparison I make from magic -> electricity

Both are forms of energy used to better peoples lives and make things easier.

There's some obvious differences i.e. electricity being unable to be used in its raw form by humans and magic being a bit more versatile on its own without separate tools but it's still a easy way to conceptualize how people would theoretically use a form of energy that's always been around them

So its like

Humans using magic in everyday life/society -> electricity

Magic as a whole and how it interacts with the natural world and how it exists by itself -> science and math

Though it's hard to say whether math itself is what makes reality work but moreso an explanation/name given to something in order to understand it? Doing math doesn't *cause* anything, its an explanation and prophecies on how things work (hm that could be an interesting way to view a form of divination in a world where it exists; doing calculations to best predict what will happen in the future with a certain degree of accuracy– like weather forecasting, it's not always accurate but with the right knowledge and observation a decent prediction could be made)

A lot of this mainly works for systems and worlds in which magic is something anyone can really reach for– magic as something that naturally exists within the world. There's some worlds and systems this isn't as effective for like stories in which how you are born dictates your affinity for magic

(Personally I'm not really a fan of this kind, I like having these magic systems be something that's technically available to all– it just depends on a willingness to explore and learn(along other factors but thats not the point and is another can of worms)) (but this also only applies to story I make— I've read and enjoyed plenty of stories in which magic was tied to birth and bloodline)

Anywho, in a world in which near unlimited magic exists in everyday life, it's easier to imagine it like how modern day views electricity and science and technology as those things are "magic" in their own ways

DISCLAIMER: this version is different from the prev post on this au (vvv) in that this is the only incarnation of sj that ghost!yqy has encountered, and bingges dont keep popping up for a shizun. but yqy still goes down the simon petrikov route of self sacrifice for loved one(s)

ok so ghost!yqy in the modern world with reincarnated!sj

So. after pidw. yqy's physical body didnt survive, but his spirit Did. he failed sj so many times already, he's not going to fail him again, and through sheer determination and love and want he put himself back together (as hed always done)

him fixing himself wasnt really bc of his rational mind. if anything it was a glutteral, instinctual Need that really pushed him to mold himself into a being all over again. however bc his spirit is binded with xuansu's, on top of his spirit almost disappearing bc of how much scattered, bringing the pieces of himself together took a LOT of time

by the time he took form, sqq was long dead

not sure if he shouldve been the one to end lbg, but itd be kind of cool if that was the case

and so yqy, whose entire purpose is to protect sj, roams the world looking for his reincarnation

in the background apocalyptic shit happens that leads the world to abandon and/or forget about cultivation, which leads us to the modern world!!🥳

sj still has a hard-knock life on the streets and then with the qius--can u tell im a sucker for the history repeats itself trope. he doesnt remember anything, but he Does feel like someone is missing. like someone that Should be there Isnt. its a constant feeling in the back of his mind, but he always pushed it away to focus on the now.

like what happened in his first life, sj has enough of all the abuse and kills qjl. what Changes though is that yqy is finally--after thousands and hundreds of years--on time

yqy burns everything down.

sj isnt sure what to make of this malevolent being. no one else but him can see it, though people /can/ see when it moves things around. people have always mentioned to sj that they feel like someone's watching them, though when they look around no one is looking their way

it makes people leave him alone, which is honestly what sj prefers

its (he's?) his savior and he makes him feel safe, yes, but who knows when that wrath gets directed at himself. his head is screaming at the threat yqy poses while his instinct and soul tells him hes safest with yqy. for a long time sj walks on eggshells around yqy, sometimes trying to escape his presence

his attempts always fail, though. somehow.

he eventually starts to warm up to yqy. sj has a feeling that this...thing was always meant to be by his side (as illogical as that sounds). he no longer has that feeling of a missing presence, something he'd felt since he'd developed a consciousness as a very young child

sj even finds the ghost a bit endearing, in his infinite gentleness to contrast his terrifying, sharp form. he doesnt understand why the ghost is so protective over him (the ghost once almost flew into a destructive frenzy over everything except him when he and his team went to investigate a deep, unexplored ravine that appeared out of nowhere), but that was endearing too

— RAMBLES BC I FORGOT WHAT I WAS GONNA TYPE NEXT (ITS BEEN A FEW MONTHS SORRY) —

one day sj got tired of calling the ghost “the ghost”, so he decided to find him a name. the ghost seems to have an opinion on this, as his thick eyebrows turned downwards every time sj called/proposed to him a name to be referred to. the progress was non existent, so sj started spouting out random characters and then later on numbers. when sj gets to “qi”, the ghost very excitedly straightens up from its seemingly perpetual hunched posture.

“7?” sj snorts, finding it a little funny. who knows, perhaps spirits loose their marbles the longer they stay amongst the living. he watches “qi’s” eyes crease into happy crescents, the shadows seeping away from his form retreating back into himself. his form looks more solid: less blurry and more clearer at the edges.

“lao qi, you really are weird” sj says fondly, though is inwardly confused when lao qi seems to deflate a little. perhaps he didnt want to be reminded of his age?

"what, do you want to be called xiao qi?" qi's eyes twitch, as if weirded out. "thought so. qige?"

at this, qi's eyes widen into two happy suns, joyfully—on instinct—coming closer. but then stops himself a pace away, as if remembering himself

sj raises a brow, "youre far too old to be called qige; im many generations your junior, yknow? youre basically my grandfather's ancestor's ancestor"

qi's eyes droop into despondent half circles. sj carefully doesnt say any more, recognizing that it may be a more sensitive topic than he thought.

SORRY YUE QI </3333 BUT </333 ... ITS FOR THE GREATER GOOD

THAT I AM GOING TO EXPLAIN RIGHT NOW, BUT NOT VERY WELL DONE:

in canon, sqq and yqy are stuck in the past. it keeps them from growing as persons and as. brothers? friends? Potential Lovers. Yes.

in this au, it is especially so for yqy, who loses himself the more he clings to the past, his promise, and sj

when he first died, his soul was at risk of being destroyed, scattered pieces and all. but because he put himself back together, he Could reincarnate into his next life. its just that he refuses to.

had he allowed himself to move on and accept that things have passed, he would have been able to start over anew in the modern world; perhaps even changed the course fate seems to have set on them for the better Without his soul suffering for it

sj reminding him that hes from an era long gone serves as one of many instances that help him come to terms with. dying? moving on. Yes.

ON THE TOPIC OF YQY'S SOUL MOVING ON.

i was thinking just now How that would happen, esp when in this au yqy's soul is like. one wrong move away from self destruction, xuan su's still binded to him, yqy letting go of sj after roaming All Those Years? Very hard., its the modern world so supernatural cultuvation stuff is almost entirely out of the picture, sj is like 25 what would he know about these things, etcetc that sort of stuff

but then i was like. "WAIT A MINUTE. THIS IS AIRPLANES WORLD. TRUE LOVE IS TOTALLY A VIABLE SOLUTION"

so. True love is the solution. true love saves qige💗

and then in their next life its the ultra ultra modern futuristic au and theyre pilots of mega robots 💗 /hj

hrngh. zombie apocalypse au.

ghost is the big ol' lone wolf whos doing perfectly fine in the apocalypse, of course, no he doesnt need anyone else. he has no group bc he doesnt need one.

soap is some guy who got separated from his group, 141, (price, gaz, laswell, etc.) and stumbled into ghost somehow, and for whatever reason ghost didnt kill him and instead told him to get lost, but soap decided fuck that and started following him instead. ghost does not like this and wants him to fuck off. soap insists that he has no where to go because he doesnt know where the hell he is or how to get back to his group- all he has is the name of the location they have their base at. so hes staying with ghost bc he seems trustworthy and like he would protect him. (hes a fucking moron. how the hell can he call some guy he just met 'trustworthy'? what makes him think ghost would protect him? he should know that even people that you trust with your life can hurt you.)

ghost shows him the route to the place via map. he lines it out. soap insists that hes shit with directions and will need a guide. ghost says he can find one elsewhere. soap says that no one else is anywhere around, plus ghost already knows the route, so why not he just lead him there? ghost says no. they go back and forth for a while, but eventually ghost gives up and agrees to bring him to his group- just to the location, and then hes getting the hell out of dodge. soap is very happy about this, much to ghosts disgruntlement.

this is when soap tells him that he didnt just get separated from his group, but that one of the people in the group had sold them out to another, larger group- who had captured him and put him all the way out in fuck-all-nowhere. he says he doesnt know what the state of his group is- if theyre alive, dead, imprisoned, or banished- but he wasnt just going to stay away when they could be okay.

he wasnt just going to knowingly lead ghost into potential danger without telling the man first. he wasnt that much of an asshole. he gives him an out, saying that hed understand if he changed his mind.

ghost, despite knowing that itd be fucking stupid to help him, agrees to escort him there. he justifies it in his head as having already made a commitment to the job and he isnt willing to back down from a challenge.

so they start some sort of post-apocalyptic roadtrip, fighting like hell through cities and towns and forests and at one point a literal cornfield, for whatever fucking reason.

throughout their journey, they talk. its mostly soap. (john, he insists, or soap. thats what his friends call him. ghost, in some sort of rebellion of being one of his friends, calls him johnny. it threw the man off guard at the start for whatever reason, so ghost kept it up in hopes of unsettling him and keeping him at arms length. it didnt work.)

ghost never gives him his name. never gives his story. never shows his face. never lets johnny past the walls hes built up over decades, no matter how hard the man tries. he keeps everything to himself, even his wounds- no bites. never any bites. hes not stupid enough to hide a bite from johnny, no matter how much he dislikes the man. the man trusts him for some reason, and hes not going to let himself turn and kill him if he can stop it.

johnny talks about his life. he talks about his family over in scotland; his maw, his brothers and sisters, his cousins, nieces, nephews... he tells him about his childhood pets, his time in high school, the jobs he had over the summer.

he tells him about his group. price, their de facto leader; laswell, the woman who has price by the ear and actually runs shit; gaz, a snarky little shit that loves to cause problems on purpose; and graves. johnny never talks about graves, and anytime he mentions his name his voice fills with bitter venom. ghost assumes that this graves fucker is the one who betrayed them.

ghost is curious, he wont lie, but its nothing personal about johnny. he just likes to know all he can about a situation, naturally. and the way the usually sunny disposition of the man darkens whenever he thinks about this graves man seems to be an important part of johnnys situation. thats all it is. he never asks. johnny will tell him if he wants to, anyway.

and he does, one night. theyre camping in the woods, no fire. ghost is taking the first watch, leaning against a tree with his rifle in his lap, while soap lies on his back, staring at the stars. its quiet, and johnnys own voice is barely more than a whisper as he starts to talk. he starts talking about graves- phillip graves- and his friendship with the man. how they got along, how they helped each other, how johnny trusted him.

then he talks about how he was the last time they had seen each other.

at first, it had seemed like a normal day. gaz was on watch, price was in his office, laswell was with her wife- and graves had pulled soap into a side room, saying he needed to talk to him about something. he had seemed tense, riddled with nerves and some kind of excitement. soap followed him without protest, figuring the man had gotten into some kind of mischief.

and he had. just... not in a fun, harmless way like soap expected.

he told soap about what hed done. he had given shepherd's group- a larger faction named the shadows that had been poking and prodding and pushing for ownership of their base and the surrounding territory- integral information on their schedules, defenses, and weaknesses. he had been approached while he was patrolling their territory and offered a position of power in the group if he gave them information. and he did.

soap listened, horrified, angry, and distraught- and then graves told him he could come with him.

he told him he had a place alongside him in the shadows, that he had already cleared it with shepherd as long as soap agreed to be loyal to them. he said that they could be great together. he offered as if he was already dead certain that soap would join him, that he would follow him in betraying the 141.

he offered as if he truly believed that soap was more loyal to him than to his entire family.

and so soap punched him, (hopefully he broke his nose,) and immediately ran to warn price or laswell, or anyone else. but graves had chosen his timing well. as he ran down the hall, he could hear the beginnings of a fight. of fucking warfare.

he didnt go into detail about the fighting, giving a bare bones rundown of how it went before he had been knocked out. the next time he had woken up, he'd been in a moving vehicle, blindfolded and bound. no matter what he did, what questions he asked, or how hard he struggled, he was kept in the dark about where they were going. he didnt know how long he had been slipping in and out of consciousness before he finally woke to the jostling of being thrown out of the car onto the hard ground, hearing the clang of a pocket knife sounding next to him and the doors slam shut, then the unmistakable rumbling of the car driving off.

at that point, there wasnt much left to tell. he managed to find the knife, cut away the bindings, unblindfold himself, and then end up in the trouble that ghost saved him from a day later.

when he finishes telling his story, the two of them sit in silence for a minute. johnny's glad ghost doesnt mention the way his breath had began to stutter partway through the story- even more glad for the dark hiding the way his cheeks were wet.

just as he opens his mouth to say something more, to brush off the vulnerability he displayed, ghost cuts him off with his own confession.

"simon."

"huh?"

"my name."

"oh."

"mm."

theyre silent for a few minutes more.

"goodnight, johnny."

"... g'night, simon."

at some point during their travels, they meet alejandro and rodolfo. it started with a short scuffle in a safehouse the two men had been occupying, but it ended with only a few bruises and a shaky agreement to not hurt each other.

its over dinner that soap mentions graves- they had been making small talk about how they got there, soap and alejandro immediately hitting it off- and both of the men have a nearly visceral reaction. rudy is significantly calmer about it than alejandro is, but the anger in his eyes is the same.

soap gives them a minimal description of his experience- graves betrayed his group, attacked them, and dropped soap in the middle of no where- and its not long after that alejandro and rudy have an exchange in spanish, then alejandro turns and insists that they join the group to get revenge on graves.

soap usually wouldve immediately said yes, but instead he turns to ghost. they make eye contact, seemingly having a silent conversation, before ghost sighs and turns back to the two men.

"right, fine. but im laying down some ground rules."

and so two became four.

while theyre traveling, things are stirring back with the 141. price, even though he was imprisoned, managed to get both himself and gaz out unnoticed. graves had admitted that soap had simply been removed instead of killed, hence his absence, so price is hoping that if he looks hard enough he can find him. because he knows soap would never abandon them if he had the choice.

and so they travel. price watches over gaz, gaz keeps price on his feet, and they continue searching for soap, until they find them neck deep in the middle of a horde and rescue them.

an au in which.. well different outfits that the ninja have had are actually just who they are

okay so i have much to explain so STRAP IN

so i came up with this idea really suddenly like ten million thoughts just hit me in the head, but the main concept is that

the world is actually a post apocalyptic style scenario, there's an "above" new ninjago city, that was built on top of the old overgrown and kind of abandoned old ninjago city (i imagine it having like glowy mushrooms and stuff and having some sort of a pretty factor to it)

i also see this whole world being full of like a multitude of different species with all sorts of wacky features (this is all kinda like years and years after the disaster that destroyed the og ninjago, so it has very cyberpunk-y and modern elements)

let's call it the (PA au. just post apocalyptic for short)

(this has been compared to that one show called arcane before. i. ive never watched arcane. /gen.. so yeah. i know its similar. its a coincidence. i promise. )

now, our characters consist of

kai - aka. the red shogun. (the outfit is prime empire kai, kind of combined with the red shogun outfit from season 4) a villain turned superhero vigilante, who's just doing his gosh darn best, and has a whole team who keeps his back safe! lloyd - aka. GB (prime empire lloyd) a trained mercenary and the leader of a gang that does everything from trading substances, weapons and machines in the black market, to simply bounty hunting. he's an untrustworthy, quiet but sly and feared leader, whos really just a sad and lost kid at heart. people say he takes after his father, but he wouldnt admit that. jay - aka. superstar rockin' jay!! (prime empire jay, ofc) he's a celebrity rockstar both in the above world AND in the undercity. though he mostly spends his time up above. he's still part of kai's vigilante team! nya- aka. THE FREAKIN SEA (seabound nya) she's a part of the sea that decided "fuck it!! we ball!!" and left to see what life on land is all about! she met kai and quickly became really close with him and they became siblings! shes the first member of his team! and she's kind of confused but she's DEFINITELY got the spirit! zane- aka. snake jaguar (the outfit from sons of garmadon) just like kai he's a vigilante, a wielder of ice. he goes undercover in lloyds gang and becomes his right hand man, but gives crucial information to his team, so they can take down lloyd's operation. cole- ROCKY FREAKIN DANGERBUFF, yet ANOTHER member of kai's team, he's from the dangerbuff clan! one of the groups of people who live their lives in the undercity. he's a dancer and a beast hunter, but also a kick ass hero just like the rest of the team! pixal- samurai x!! she's also a hero, that kind of rivals red shogun and kind of doesnt like him at all, but she does get kind of close to one of his team members... if you know what i mean

i will say that ALL the members of the squad still have their elemental powers, i havent yet properly fully thought that part out but i know for sure that they do.

SO YEAH. lloyd is actually kind of the villian for a large part of this au. i tried my best to not change his personality in a way that wouldnt be natural for his character to progress. in my head he grew up kind of sheltered from the outside world entirely. he's not really a... person? he's his role and thats that. he was never really loved by anyone therefore doesnt really know...emotion. all that well. he may act like a bratty teenager from time to time when he's taunting his enemies, but that's just... a character that he's playing up. he really just has no clue what hes doing.

(everything im not saying here is in the little notes i left on the drawings, though they may not be canon since i wrote down concepts and ideas there too)

his dad, garmadon, also is a little different in this au. basically "good" garmadon isnt really a thing (hes basically JUST the version from the oni trillogy). he was the previous gang leader BEFORE lloyd but he vanished and supposedly died. so lloyd had to take his place.

the ACTUAL. REAL VILLAIN of this au is harumi. who, fr. is still just herself. she's also kind of the second in command to lloyd. and she betrays him. and kind of takes the gang all to herself. leaving lloyd to help out the heroes...and finally find a family in the process.

its very emotional in my head and i am so scrambled right now these are the only semi-coherent thoughts.

You know as a Honkai star Player I always find it amusing when I see people saying things about HSR that isnt true. Like all the worlds are Scifi but different flavors of Scifi. Herta's space station is cutting edge in your face scifi. Belobog is post apocalyptic like how Fallout is. The Xianzhou Lofu is a giant ship that disguises its high tech kind of like what Iria did with its tech. Penacony is straight up the matrix. Its always funny because you can tell when people havent played it.

Mihoyo's not gonna fuck you, dude.

how can you ship loustat when loumand exists? im not being rude im just curious because armand is the love of louis life and they have been longer together than lestat and louis. armand doesnt cheat on louis he doesnt beat louis so i dont understand how someone who claims to love louis would not want him with the better man. again not being rude

anon please please please and i cannot stress this enough please realize that i realy dont give an iota of fuck about whats supposedly good better or healthy for louis you know why because louis doesnt exist he isnt real none of this is real its fiction the only thing i care about is if im getting an interesting and stimulating story personally im indifferent to loumand because both anne and louis were indifferent to them i can appreciate their anti-romance their unfulfilled aborted love story on like an intellectual level but it leaves me emotionally dead and cold but also crucially i came for the operatic drama and only one ship is delivering on that front maybe if louis tried to kill armand and maybe if their hearts were to beat in tandem and maybe if there was an invisible cord tying them together and maybe if they had their second honeymoon in the midst of a murder plot and maybe if they had apocalyptic jealousy fits at the mere thought of the other with a third and maybe if they created a vampire child to trap and doom each other for eternity and maybe if the spectre of one haunted the other post murder attemp and maybe if their divorce led to the near extinction level genocide of the vampire species and maybe if and maybe if and maybe if .....

your enoch / mark post lives in my head all day every day bc i’m mildly obsessed w the book of enoch and i’m really interested in how you’re relating apocalyptic text to fallout - i don’t know much abt the games except for nv but i’n interested what lead you to connect texts like enoch to fallout n is dee’s system part of this framework/interpretation?

(i don't know what dee's system is offhand)

ive struggled with how to answer this. i think it is largely that i found the text so movingly beautiful even as it was wrong with every assertion. it is the manic scrawlings of a schizophrenic person, pseudopigraphally attributed to an antidiluvion, and purported to be the The First Book. the text is relentlessly vivid and evocative.

he'll spend pages rambling about how the sun orbits the earth and the moon is a woman, then left-turn into vague call for violence or attempts to describe the undescribable. i think this is my favorite part

while i cannot even comprehend Enoch's position, much less agree with it, i am rocked by the scope and beauty of the author's internal life conveyed by the text.

i was already using the phrase "fallout apocrypha" to describe my area of interest. the beauty inherent to people disagreeing about how fallout works & making shit up

i'd like to share my favorite piece of fallout fan art with you. the original post seems to have been blanked by tumblr for some reason. this is quick redraw of an old indigenous Benny concept I drew by Frank Odlaws. his later comment regarding the work is included as a readmore.

odlaws: " this was all left in the notes as reply to someone asking why he is speaking spanish if he is native but the context for this comic is that Benny is schizophrenic native american from a mexican tribe “my hc for benny is tailored to my own heritage for self indulgent reasons lol, so in this he is based on my people, which is an indigenous tribe in mexico, i hc that he isnt connected to the actual native language of his people, only the spanish they were forced to assimilate to in mexico just like english in america, and just like many native american mexican people lose touch with their tongue after generations of forced assimilation i sort of figured people would just know but thats kind of foolish of me lol, my people are the purepecha people, who have a long history of exploitation and forced assimilation as well as a running trend of people trying to break from the communities to find better lives because of how actively our communities are suppressed and exploited through actively violent means, history of revolution and communities trying to take law into their own hands even to this day which i think is pretty fitting for bennys arc in the comic and narrative of the game, seeing his story go from abandoning his “tribe” (what nv refers to as tribes lol) in search of dignity and security, and the whole quest to take things into his own hands to take the land, acting as if its rightfully his, feels alot more powerful when seeing it through the lens of a native man whos lost access to the pride of his people and history only seeing the desperate remnants of his once thriving community, where that idea of power and dignity seems so distant and foreign it almost feels like fantasy, the catholic imagery that follows his design also is very in line with my people, who created an entirely unique sort of image of Catholicism after it being so forced upon us they created an image of their own native religion thru the catholic lens as a means to continue our reality without fear of punishment”

ippiki au lore dump

if the name of the au does not make it very obvious, this au was inspired very heavily by the trained cards for kick it up a notch (i just chose to reference the comm, hitsuji ga ippiki, as the au name because it sounds cooler than calling it like. kickup au. so its ippiki au instead. when i first started working on this i just called it animal fighters au but thats long LOL)

its one of my favorite sets, im a big fan of dystopian and post-apocalyptic themes which the set hits perfectly and there was room to have fun with animal designs (i mean, seriously, they gave kohane sheep horns and named akitos costume "hound kid") and so i started thinking from the moment i laid eyes on the set when it leaked and i ended up with an au based around the idea of animal/human hybrids.

first of all for actual au stuff, character profiles! these were made a lot earlier on into working the au so ive made minor adjustments to their designs since then, but nothing drastic. mainly just little things ive changed when drawing them in more detail, like additional scars and such.

while making kohane a sheep and akito a dog (hes... not a specific kind of dog. hes a mix of a whole bunch of different larger domestic dog breeds combined with some wild canines. ) were obvious from the set, deciding on the animals for an and touya required a bit more thought. i ended up settling on a fox for an partially as a nod to her ny3 card and also because for a long time now ive thought theyre fitting for her anyway, and touya as a black leopard because... he's kitty. but i wanted to make him a big kitty not a domestic kitty. i do also like bunny touyas but for how i was feeling with this au i wanted him to be a cat.

theres the fun little detail that kohane is the only animal that isnt a predator in vbs.

but i should probably explain why theyre animal hybrids in this au.

im going to put the rest of the lore dump and more art below, this gets long.

basically, in the face of a coming apocalypse, there was an effort to attempt to hybridize humans with animals to see if they could create a form of human (or something seen as "human enough") that would be more resilient if the apocalypse threatened the survival of normal humanity. it was never completely successful and the hybrids were less stable/generally shorter lived (if physically stronger) but it ended up being unnecessary and enough of humanity survived to rebuild. but the experiments to create hybrids continued.

in the present day of the au, hybrids are created for... less pleasant tasks. the kinds of things people dont want to take on, and theyre physically stronger than the average human so theyre put to those jobs instead. or theyre created as showpieces/pets for the wealthy (most people outside of those circles find it strange to keep hybrids like that though. hybrids arent always seen as being truly human (although theyre fully capable of everything human and then some) but theyre still seen as human enough for it to be weird).

many of them though, are created as sacrifices for entertainment in battle arenas where theyll have to fight each other to the death. its a seemingly inevitable fate to die there once theyre sent, but escape has happened before. an is living proof of that, as both of her parents are escaped arena fighters who helped establish a small town of hybrids out in the wasteland beyond the city at the core of hybrid creation and sacrifice.

how an ended up as an arena fighter despite being born well outside the city... thats a long story.

touya is a showpiece fighter, created to fight but kept secure and safe outside of his registered fights. he might be healthier physically, much less worn down by fighting, but hes been very socially isolated and doesnt fit in with other hybrids very well.

an and touya fight in the same arena, and touyas fight days are the only times he interacts with other hybrids. hes given free reign around the hybrid compound (where most other hybrids are restricted under collars and chains) and he ends up meeting an there. although tense, they become sort of friends and he frees her and they escape together.

kohane and akito are just normal arena fighters, created solely for that purpose, although kohane was meant as an early sacrifice due to her skittish nature, but she survives. theyre in the same arena as each other, although its a harsher one than the one antouya are in, theyre unable to properly interact with anyone else at all and are just lucky enough to be neighbors to end up bonding.

i just grouped them based on which side of their face they have the barcodes on in the original cards lol in this au the arenas generally brand their fighters with a code for identifying them. touyas is actually not permanent like the others, but temporarily applied whenever he has a fight coming up (like a temporary tattoo lol)

kohane managing to survive despite the intention being that she dies is actually the driving force that starts the fic for this au (which fun fact, despite me never mentioning the title, does have a title! the fic will be called "fight, flight, freedom", unless i think of something that fits even better, but i already like the title as is so i probably wont change it)

its rough but i promise everyone gets a happy ending eventually :)

now for sitting through all that rambling heres some art

heres my very initial attempts at designs for them! no drastic changes even since this initial pass at designs tbh i was pretty content with them pretty quickly

some various doodles of them interacting, some during/around the time of the fic and others post-fic

what if they were... more animal? like furries instead of just the ears/tails? obviously noncanon but it was a fun little thing to draw

wip aged up designs! heavily inspired by the power of unity set because it also fits into the post apocalyptic type theme and i thought would work for them when theyre a little older. assume theyre about 20-21 here, while in the main canon of the au theyre about 16-17.

a silly little sketch i did last week of aged up akikoha in their burn my soul outfits... kohane cant really wear hats, horns are inconvenient for that. everyone elses ears would probably make hats difficult too, but you could probably make holes for their ears. you cant really make holes for the tops of her horns.

some little finished pieces i did for this au. can you tell akito is my favorite to draw for this?

now heres some other random au facts

an and haruka are childhood friends, haruka also being the child of ferals. haruka is a domestic cat hybrid (either a gray or black cat, i havent decided which yet). she is not in their hometown anymore either. where is she now...? ill leave you to wonder about that.

kohane and minori grew up in the same group of created hybrids together, theyre friends but were sent to different places so they dont know whats happened to each other since. minori is a goat btw (inspired by her halloween card)

a lot of ans scars are from injuries that snowballed after an incident in a fight that severely broke her tail and led to part of it being amputated. her balance was thrown off for a while after that so she was a little clumsier in fights than normal

akitos scars on the other hand are caused by the fact that hes a reckless fighter. a good fighter, but not much care for the damage he takes in the process. that and improper padding on his collars and muzzle, leaving those spots unable to fully heal from being rubbed against metal for months and when they finally do heal they scarred.

im still sorting things out for sure but tentatively for vbs npcs i have decided on fox ken and yuka (obviously, same as an), tiger taiga (i mean... how could i not go for the pun. and i think it suits him), maned wolf nagi (update march 2024 ive drawn nagi now so this is what has been made canon), raccoon kotaro, caracal arata, and dog souma (sorry to any tatsuya fans, i have not figured out how to include him in the au at all)

vbs all very clingy with each other once they get comfortable together. platonic polysquad ❤️

other characters outside of vbs exist in this au but theyre just not relevant enough to the story for me to include here 👍

the fic outline is like 2.4k words. the first chapter is a couple scenes away from being finished and its about 5k words. it will not be the longest chapter of the fic. this is going to be a long au.

maybe ill do another lore dump another day if i can think of more stuff. well see.

just curious, have you ever heard of Rain World? while the naming system there isnt the exact same nor is like particularly on display considering none of the playable characters following it, your names like "sky sat vigil" give off really similar vibes. rain world's naming system gives you stuff like "four needles under plentiful leaves", "looks to the moon", "six grains of gravel, mountains abound" etc etc. also its lore makes me want to run around and bite stuff it drives me insane its so fucking good

All I know about Rainworld is that there's a ton of overlap in BB!Fans and Rainworld fans! So something about my worldbuilding is feeding you guys and I appreciate that. Also there's Slugcats and a post-apocalyptic world based on constant floods and rains apparently? That's cool!

Any similarities to Rainworld's naming is unintended but welcome. BB's Clanmew name tweaks came completely from wanting to give more meaning to simple, two-part titles, especially to existing canon cats.

Months ago someone asked me directly if they could use my Clan Culture stuff for Rainworld worldbuilding and I stand by my resounding "Sure gohead." I tailor Clan Culture stuff for WC fans but I think it's fun to see so many xenofiction stories about cats borrowing from it, lmao. Everything I make's free to use.

unfortunately almost all my favorite sapphic shows have been canceled especially the ones on netflix but i do still think theyre worth your time. but it might also kill you bc the story isnt finished. all these shows are also just amazing plots too. like i would love them just as much even if there wasnt wlw relationships.

heres what i got for shows but not all of these are on netflix.

the wilds. this is an AMAZING SHOW. its on amazon its about a staged plane crash where 8 girls are stuck on an island but they dont know that its all a fucked up social experiment. a lesbian relationship became established before it got canceled after s2.

cable girls. this is on netflix and it actually DIDNT GET CANCELED HALLELUJAH. its an amazing show but it actually doesnt really count as sapphic bc one of the characters in the wlw relationship ends up being trans. but its still a great queer love. this shows spanish and set in late 1920s madrid at a telephone company. its one of my favorite shows ever literally every season is better than the last plz watch it.

everything sucks. this is on netflix and it did get canceled but the lesbian relationship was mostly established before the end of the first season. its set in the 90s and its just a really cute show im mad it got canceled.

paper girls. this is on amazon and ngl this is one of the most painful sapphic show cancelations ive ever suffered through so if you dont wanna watch it just bc of that i dont blame you. its about these four young girls who accidentally time travel from the 80s to current day and meet their future selves. the gay girlies are heavily implied and foreshadowed but they dont get together before the end of the show :(

the last of us!!! not canceled its still going!! this show has an episode that shows a past sapphic relationship with the lesbian main character but the first season doesnt introduce a new relationship yet. the second season will tho. im sure youve heard about this or already watched it but its about a zombie-like pandemic from a deadly fungus and its total post apocalyptic. also AMAZING found family father/daughter trope. dare i say i actually think i like them more than el and hopper.

i really need to find more great sapphic movies.

my favorite lesbian movie of all time is portrait of a lady on fire. its a french period piece and its just beautiful and THERE ARE LIKE ZERO MEN IN THE WHOLE MOVIE. i think the only line a man has is “bonjour” and thats it. MY KINDA MOVIE!!!!! INSTANT 5 STARS!!!!! i love this movie. the initial premise is that a woman needs to be painted but she cant know that shes being painted so the other woman has to just study her while hanging out and then paint her from memory. it ends up being much more than that but gaaahhh if you only watch one of these make it this movie.

another iconic sapphic movie is but im a cheerleader. way different tone much less dramatic and more comedy but still never gets old.

you didnt mention books but im gonna give you book recs anyway.

seven husbands of evelyn hugo!!!!!!! im sure youve heard about this. i dont think its overrated at all it really was such a good book and dont let the title fool you its gay as hell. if youre really not a reader tho this is going to be a netflix movie soon.

an amazing duo book series is criers war. i LOVE scifi and fantasy and this is my favorite sapphic scifi story ive ever read/watched. i want this to be a movie or show so bad. its about a world where some people are people and some are what they refer to as “automa” which are essentially cyborgs but they look just like humans. crier is an automa and the daughter of a king and ayla is a poor human and she has a vendetta against crier bc her father was responsible for her familys murder but crier doesnt know this! so then ayla gets the job as her maid for the goal of killing her basically but of course it gets super gay instead. its such an interesting take on the enemies to lovers trope bc its one sided, cryer has no idea ayla considers her her enemy. also neither of them are white i think crier is brown and ayla is black.

i hope you like these! and if anybody else has lesbian story recs plz put it in the replies or rbs cuz i also need more lesbian content!!!

I have a LOT of questions about the newest ep of Fionna and Cake. Mainly the farm world ep and farm world in general.

OK so, assuming this is the farm world from Adventure Time, there are a TON of things that don't add up. Here are my questions.

First off, there are a bunch of characters that exist in farm world that don't seem to exist in the land of Ooo. Mainly the Destiny Gang and family. But also the majority of bg characters, they don't seem to have Ooo counterparts.

Expanding on that, why do only SOME characters exist in farmworld and Ooo? Just off the top of my head I know we see Choose Goose (Bruce now), Jake, and Wildberry Princess in the newest fionna and cake ep. But in the original Adventure Time episode we also see Simon (deceased) and Marcy. Those are the only characters I know of that we see. This could be explained by saying that magic doesn't exist in farm world but it still should. Finn only wished The Lich out of existence, there should still be elemental magic but we don't see any of our elemental characters. And why not have non magic counterparts like in normal Fionna world? Why is it only some characters? It can't be just the non magic ones bc we see normal versions of magic characters.

Why does this farm world seem post-apocalyptic? Finn wished Ice Finn to go back to normal and the crown was removed from farm world. I think there are at least 2 farm worlds, one where Farm Finn became evil from the crown and another where it never existed. When the crown was removed this could've also removed the ice keeping the mushroom bomb from exploding which would explain why this farm world seems post apocalyptic. But even if Farm Finn did keep the crown, we know that the Mushroom Bomb already went off. Either way, the great mushroom bomb SHOULD have gone off but we see the same characters still alive. So the mushroom bomb must have been removed from the equation for them to all still be alive, we see a crater where the bomb was but if it did go off, that area should be radioactive and all of the farmworld ogs should be dead. Why is this world so messy and post-apocalyptic? It doesn't add up

We see a farm world version of Marceline in the farm world shown in Adventure Time, but for some reason, she's old. This makes no sense. Marceline doesn't age in Ooo because she's part demon part vamp, so do these not exist in farmworld? The only difference farm world SHOULD have with Ooo is that The Lich never (even ever) existed, but this shouldn't apply to other magic as well. The comets, elements, GOLB and the other primordials, and relics (like the crown) should all still exist. Hunson Abadeer should still exist as he is either a demon or a primordial monster (seen in The Lichs flashback along with Coconteppi and Orgalorg while scaring King of Ooo and Toronto) But the point is, why is ALL magic gone except for the crown in farmworld when only The Lich should be missing. Could the Lich control all magic? He is the oldest scholar of GOLB, maybe even older and above the primordial monsters and elements? Its also weird that Jake isnt magic in farmworld, we know Ooo Jake gets his powers from being a spawn of Warren Ampersand who is either a primordial monster or the same species as one of these monsters (seen in The Licks flashback) But that makes Prismo stronger than The Lich (since he was able to wish him out of existence) and in turn all the primordial monsters, but weaker than GOLB as he was not able to bring Betty back (or maybe he just can't bring people back from the dead? Since he couldn't bring Margles back either) it's weird.

Why does Finn still name his daughter Bonnibel in farmworld if PB doesn't exist in farmworld? Is she still there but not shown? Are all Finns destined to have children named after Bonnie and Jake? (Pillow Finn did) Did the name just come to him as a weird cosmic communication coincidence?

Why do we see a scarecrow of Ice Finn if the crown doesn't exist in farmworld? Do people just remember when Finn was briefly Ice Finn? And why isn't Finn insane from the crown? It affected him long enough for him to start changing so shouldn't it have made him insane?

Farm world is really weird and I have lots of questions. Lmk what you guys think.

Your Last Days. (Mcrp)

As apposed to the last Smp I covered. (See here) This Minecraft series is extremely story oriented and a really eventful watch!

Content/Trigger warnings: Possible swearing, A lot of people in crowded places and talking, The mod itself includes violence (Guns & Blood) and should generally be watched in perspectives that are comfortable for the viewer.

Other general warnings, This will be a long blog but I will try to keep it as informative and spoiler free as possible!

I was introduced to this SMP by my FYP some time back, thank you Youtube. As of current, there is a Prequel titled Your First Days and it's a very interesting thing if you were attached to anyone's perspectives! (Not entirely certain if it's still ongoing, but I've been trying to keep up with it!)

Now, what Is the plot you may be asking? In a post apocalyptic setting the only thing that is clear to our players is Survival or destruction. Depending on which perspective you watch. TLDR: Your Last Days is a story driven hardcore server set in a post-apocalyptic world.

There are many established factions of people who are all fighting to stay alive and protect their lands. When it is announced a group of Hunters have been sent to wipe out the entire population who have been suffering from this infection for ten years.

Unlike most formatted things, this is something to look into yourself. There are the occasional edited videos for you to look through such as Kaboodles:

Its a very hyper active, enthusiastic story of a character making a bond against the obscene odds they were thrown into and really quite an exciting story!

Most of this SMP was livestreamed, I say most its all live streamed. Looking up Your Last Days MCRP seems to show several perspectives for you to look up but these were a couple of my favorites:

Ali, Yoshi, Miyaki, Beans, Ray, and Korps.

Before getting into this it was a lot because I wasnt actively partaking in streams as it was happening, 2023 was a busy year for a lot of people. Me included. A couple months back as I was going through perspectives I found these were the ones I enjoyed the most, the story-telling and perspective was incredibly fun to focus on. (That isnt to say everyone involved aren't entertaining to watch!) The concept as a whole is very interesting to me because zombie media has always failed to make me actually scared, but in a world full of people you start to care about the stakes are raised and makes for a pretty compelling setting.

Going on to say! They also have a series I mentioned before; this is a perspective I very much am in love with and honestly it made my entire month!

maria millers’s “whos been cutting your hair” line is so insanely interesting to me because, objectively, it’s an absolutely bonkers and unnecessary question to ask in the context of a literal apocalypse, but she says it so sure and normal. you can tell it actually matters to her so much about whose been cutting this random little girls hair that shes probably been thinking about it for their entire conversation, and then she sets up this cute little salon chair situation instead of just cutting her hair over the trash can. maria puts a towel over ellie’s shoulders and (SO MAD they dont show it) even wets her hair to make sure its all straight and even when it gets cut, which ellie has likely never had anyone do for her before. the woman is also incredibly attentive to her: she realizes by ellie’s lack of response that she likely has zero clue was a district attorney is and immediately puts it into the simplest terms for her. she engages her in genuine conversation super directly, which i think is ESPECIALLY important to point out because a big point of tension for ellie this whole episode is feeling left out of the conversations (unspoken and spoken) that happen between tommy and joel—and maria, as we know from the matching looks on their faces when joel and tommy hug, feels the exact same exclusion.

their entire first meeting scene just goes crazy in that maria is so immediately inclined to help ellie feel as comfortable and normal as she can be at this point. she sees that her coat isnt thick enough for their winter, so she instantly trades for a heavier one. she gets ellie new shoes and double-checks that theyre the right size. she guesses ellie doesnt have access to period products so she gets her some without even knowing for sure if she has one already. she knows from ellie’s negative reaction that she doesnt like to get her hair cut and immediately promises that shes not doing anything drastic, just a trim.

and to bring it back to the that line, cutting your split ends regularly is such small thing, but so so so important for your hair’s growth and health. i think its a great little example of how, over time, everybody has just learned to live without these kinds of small but incredibly meaningful gestures and rituals and habits, like getting their hair cut. and maria mf miller is out here being the one to make sure jackson is a place where people dont have to sacrifice those small and meaningful things because its just her instinct (likely left over from being a mom, just like her affinity for cutting hair)

idk man just thinking about maria miller and ellie miller and the shared experience of post apocalyptic womanhood

Hello! Thanks for asking me this haha, this is a little vague but ill do my best to answer anyway!

Worldbuilding can be pretty intimidating to start doing at first, but its by no means a fine science. My first suggestion would be to think ahout what sort of worls you want in the first place; do you want a high fantasy magical world? A hard-science sci fi setting? A steampunk post apocalyptic future with zombies? A slice of life urban setting with monster people? Go for whatever you want!! Theres no limits for what theme you can go with, mish mash any asthetivs or settings you want! Just keep in mind this will be indicative of everything else to do with your world

From there on, my best advice would be to have fun. You can have an overarching narrative in your world, though this isnt strictly necessary either. You can just have a world for the sake of having a world. Its important, though, to consider how this world will *work*, be it by developing a magic system or by following real world physics, or something in between that, do whatever you want really! Alternatively, you can also have a wacky world with no dead set rules either if thats what youre going for! Just keep in mind the way your world works will affect everything else about it, like the people who live in this world, the places they live in, the cultures/societies/technology they create or the life that will live in this world etc

So to summarize, my best advice is to think of a theme, a setting, and make up rules for what can and cant happen (if you want!) And last but not least, to just have fun :)

Also, if theres any other more specific questions you had that this didnt help with, id recommend checking out artifexian and biblaridion and curious archive on youtube; the first two have various videos on worldbuilding, such as speculative biology, geography, conlang and more, whereas curious archive reviews worldbuilding settings and projects by other people and anaylses these worlds, he reviews a ton of neat stuff also worth checking out!! Honestly lots of the projects reviewed in his videos serve as big inspiration in my projects, so its worth checking him out along with biblaridion and artifexian if you havent already!
