okay I’m having quite a time over here in my little corner and I just don’t know how to like… deal with it.

without going into all the details, I have some family drama (extended fam edition) and it’s kinda turned everything I’ve ever really known on its head and put it into the trash compactor from Monsters Inc.

there’s a lot of deep rooted hurt that’s come from all the situations it’s created and it’s like… wow, you know

anyways, so if I’m a little quiet around here for the next few days that’s why - I still have a lot of good things going on - I have another date (same guy, hallelujah) on Wednesday AND Friday so that’s exciting

but this is really heavy, so I might not be as active for a little bit as I attempt to process everything

I’m probably going to fail one of the core courses in my program. Ahhhhh… fuck.

On the one hand, oh well. On the other… what if I do? I can keep going, I can do things a year behind. I could just… drop out. And then what? Freelance? Am I confident enough with my design skills that I could do that? Can I keep myself together enough to have a schedule?

Do I go back to freelance illustration? Can I maintain it? I just know that if I go back to part time, minimum wage I’ll be a wreck. I’ve been trying… so… so fucking hard. I’m doing my best. I’ll figure something out, but I just… I can’t go back to it. I won’t go back to it.

I’m just tired. But it’ll work out. It’ll be okay. Sooner or later.

had a difficult start to my week, but i put some handles on my cups at the studio, which helped a lot with my mindset. i impulsively added a peek-a-boo morty charm to the bottom of one of my funkier mugs, which was really nice. i’m excited to see how he turns out. the thousand yard stare i give my clay characters always gives me a giggle.

sometimes it’s kind of nice to just admit that you have no control and let the clay do what it wants to. once you learn to listen to it, you sorta learn that it’s going to do its own thing, and that’s okay. you have to be okay with that.

you can’t control everything, even the things you make, but you can control what you want it to be. i can tell it to be a handle, but i can’t always control what shape it chooses. just because it doesn’t look like i wanted it to doesn’t mean it’s not a mug that holds a hot drink and feels nice in my hands. i’ve been treating myself a lot like clay lately, but i can control my intentions, and that’s enough.
