I really like how much nuance you bring to the Blackfyre discussion, as I found renderings of the rebellions previously really flat (nevermind T/arg apologia in general). You make the fandom a better place, so thank you.
Blogs like yours and the Jonsas in general, despite the shit you get, are so inspiring. I hope that doesn't sound weird, but genuinely, I'm not really in the fandom proper and reading your posts inspires me to write in other fandoms and keep believing in what I believe in. So you never know what positive effect you'll have.
I also love your animal posts and they're really informative and sweet. You get everything on Aegor Bamfsteel's blog!

Thank you so much for these kind words. Sometimes I doubt if I’ve done anything positive for the fandom, so reading this was really touching. I first created this blog partly because I wanted opinions to be written and received with some open mindedness, free of fandom’s intellectual elitism. I’m glad that at least I’ve helped you in standing up for your opinions in fandom despite anon hate or BNF mockery.
I have some Blackfyre asks I plan to answer, but when it comes to them I’m always saying too much. I’m glad I could help you reconsider the complexities of that era. Thanks to everyone for being patient with my slow updates.
As for animal posts, thank you for saying you like them, though I’m no expert. On that subject, I have some good news to share about my local zoo; I finally went back to the Asian jungle exhibit to visit southern white cheeked gibbon Chi (the one who likes to look at what’s in my pockets), and she finally decided it was ok for her mate Mil to come over to her window of appearances:

While she’s staring raptly at my chapstick, this is one of the few photos where he’s actually looking my way. He’s a lot shyer and less curious about humans than she is, and lets her take the lead when they brachiate together.
Thanks again for the positive comments!

Want to ride an elephant?
You should start by knowing this. Whether they are used for deforestation, for tourism, for entertainment or for painting all elephants start their journey in the same place. All captive elephants around the world went through something called the training box. They separate the calf (baby elephant) from their mother, then they tie them up and cage them in a kind of box where they beat them for 24 hours straight with bullhooks, with nails, with chains, etc., until their love for their mother is replaced by their fear of man and the bullhook. They abuse them until they have no brain left, no "thought" left. If it doesn't work in the first 24 hours, this torture is repeated for another 24 hours and another 24 hours and another 24 hours until it works. When the calf comes out of the cage and goes to their mother, the baby does not recognize her. After that process the calf goes to an elephant training camp where it is taught to paint, stand on balls, ride tricycles and entertain tourists. This can go on for weeks or months. Many are maimed and develop mental illnesses. Many others die in the process. Elephants are born to be wild, they are not born to dance, act or paint. Spread the word and support Elephant Nature Parks. Be aware and be empathetic. Elephants are endangered and these elephants can only be free and have some peace in a nature park, for they would not survive in their natural habitat. Remember this the next time you want to ride an elephant. Documentary: Love & Bananas
Documental: Love & Bananas

Autograph from Ashley Bell & Lek Chailert, with photos of me with them!
Wow, what a great early birthday surprise! Also, what great luck that all this took place the day before my birthday! Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself, let me go back a bit. There is currently a new documentary out in select theaters called "Love & Bananas", which was directed, written, produced, & stars TV & film actress Ashley Bell & tells the story of how she & the founder of Elephant Nature Park, Lek Chailert, travel down to Kanchanaburi to rescue a 70 year old blind elephant named Noi Na & bring her to Elephant Nature Park to give her a better & happier life as a free elephant. The film center near my old college (it's called the Jacob Burns Film Center, if anyone's curious) did this special screening with a Q&A session for one day only, & so I bought tickets to it. The documentary was fantastic, & I strongly recommend you guys go check it out! Afterwards was this great Q&A with Ashley Bell, Lek Chailert, & the other film makers on Love & Bananas, & shortly after that I actually got to meet both women & get their autographs. Here is the picture I had autographed. Ashley Ball is a TV & film actress who has appeared in movies like The Last Exorcism & its sequel, & TV shows like CSI, United States of Tara, The Walking Dead, & The Penguins of Madagascar. Her father is famous voice actor Michael Bell, who's been on TV shows like Transformers, G.I. Joe, The Smurfs, The Snorks, Rugrats, & many others. Ms. Bell was really nice & outgoing, & she loved the drawing I did! What's even cooler is she recognized me from Twitter, since I've been tweeting a lot about Love & Bananas as of late, & she really appreciates my support for trying to help elephants. Here's hoping this documentary of hers gets an Academy Award for Best Documentary! The photo on the left is of me speaking with Ms. Bell, as she signs the drawing above. Lek Chailert is the founder & owner of Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She is a serious advocate for helping elephants, & is to elephants what Jane Goodall is to chimps! Over the years, Lek has worked so hard to help elephants all over Thailand, & has been successful at saving many of them & helping convert trekking camps into wildlife sanctuaries. Again, she was also really nice, & she really enjoyed the picture I drew. Such a wonderful woman! The photo on the right is of me getting my picture with Ms. Chailert, after she finished signing my drawing! Anyway, the drawing on top that was signed shows Ashley Bell giving an elephant who's suffered a long history of abuse a nice big banana split, & welcoming it to her permanent home at Elephant Nature Park. Lek Chailert is pictured next to the elephant, quite pleased with the successful rescue!
So if you guys would like to learn more & hopefully see Love & Bananas, you can check out the website to it here. If you'd like to go into more detail, you can visit Elephant Nature Park yourself, or at least visit their website here.

Ayeya May, an orphaned baby elephant rescued by the Winkabaw Elephant Camp in Myanmar, recently received a special, intimate concert for one.
The starving youngster has been distraught without his mother, but he was comforted when elephant whisperer Lek Chailert  - founder of Save Elephant Foundation and Elephant Nature Park (ENP) in Thailand - visited Winkabaw.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Chailert is a skilled elephant whisperer. As seen in the video above, she gently feeds the young elephant milk from a bottle and sings him a lullaby. Ayeya May, clearly soothed by the woman’s soft voice, first rests his trunk around her arm in an elephant hug. He eventually becomes so enchanted by the tune that he settles to the ground, closes his eyes and allows Chailert to pet his belly. The interaction is touching but bittersweet, considering the poorly baby elephant needs and likely misses its real mother.
Ayeya May is one of three baby orphaned elephants currently being cared for at Winkabaw. Young elephants in the wild stay with their mothers for 16 years, while these babies and others like them are often ripped away from their families at 6 months due to the elephant tourism (such as trekking camps) and logging industries. Chailert’s Save Elephant Foundation, in partnership with Elephant Nature Park, saves innumerable elephants by working with trekking camps and convincing them to treat their animals more humanely and eventually phase out tourism, hopefully transitioning into a sanctuary model.
NEVER ride elephants, NEVER give your money to places that make elephants do unnatural activities like painting, massage, headstands, circuses, even ZOOS. Do your research and save these gentle giants from human greed and abuse!
Please read this to learn how to help this poor baby get nutrition, so he doesn’t die.

Excerpt from this story from Deutsche Welles/EcoWatch:
Thailand has a total population of 5,000 elephants. But of that number, 3,000 live in captivity, carrying tourists on their backs and offering photo opportunities made for social media.
With the corona crisis, tourism revenues have plummeted, and those who make a living from elephants' tourism appeal are struggling even to cover their costs. A single elephant needs up to 250 kilograms (551 pounds) of food a day, costing around €25 ($29.50).
That's where Lek Chailert steps in. She's buying up elephants and rehousing them at the Elephant Nature Park reserve in Chiang Mai. To provide and care for them properly, she founded the Save Elephant Foundation.
An elephant usually sells for around 2 million baht — about €54,000, or $64,000 — with young animals fetching the highest prices. But since their income from tourism has dried up, plenty of owners are ready to sell their animals for less. Chailert paid just 7 million baht for seven elephants from a riding center in Chang Puak.
The Elephant Nature Park now has 91 elephants, which live alongside horses, buffalo, dogs and cats, and are cared for by a human staff of 200. Sadly, it isn't possible to simply release these magnificent beasts into the wild because their natural habitat has long since been destroyed.

More than 1,000 elephants face starvation in Thailand because the coronavirus crisis has slashed revenue from tourism, conservationists say.
An almost total absence of visitors means that many caretakers are struggling to afford food for Thailand's 4,000 captive elephants.
The animals can eat up to 200kg (440lb) of food a day.
Thailand reported 127 new confirmed cases of the virus on Monday, bringing the country's recorded total to 1,651.
Lek Chailert, founder of the Save Elephant Foundation, told the BBC: "If there is no support forthcoming to keep them safe, these elephants, some of whom are pregnant, will either starve to death or may be put on to the streets to beg."

If Thera was the subject of a movie or tv series, are there any moments from her life/story you feel would be the kind of iconic moments or imagery associated with her and her story? (like the skull from Hamlet or the opening sunrise in the lion king type stuff?)
On the one hand, all you really need to do to get a feel for it is watch some Highlander. I’m not sure there’s really any one thing that would be ‘iconic’ for Thera except perhaps the moment she met Gaia and became a Guardian.
On the other …
There might just possibly be a series called ‘Attenborough’s Angels’, starring Thera, Dr Jane Goodall and Valerie Taylor. Dr Lek Chailert runs their home base/office/sanctuary, and there are guest appearances by Dian Fossey, Dr Kirthi Karanth, and others.
Their office is always filled with foster animals, and there are ‘In Memoriam’ portraits of Steve Irwin and George and Joy Adamson on the walls.
The other member of the team is the mysterious ‘David’ who everybody knows by his distinctive voice …
