True Story: Daughter of Smoke & Bone is here, and I couldn't be happier.
I'm going to set an astonishingly high bar here while simultaneously making a very bold claim: the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy ruined me for all other young adult fantasy. It is my favourite series in this genre and for this age group, and nothing has yet come close to the experience of getting goosebumps the first time I read the very first page, and Laini Taylor's description of contemporary Prague.
*shivers*
And then there was the rest of it.
I've been skirting around drawing any monster-type things until now, and admittedly, while Brimstone is the first in the lineup, he was the last on my desk. Super intimidating to tackle the Chimaera, but honestly I think he's my favourite character and the reason I was so nervous about him was that I desperately wanted to do the Wishmonger justice.
Brimstone, also known as The Resurrectionist, is holding a little jar of teeth.
I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of Zuzana. Despite the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy being ten years old, I’ve never read Night of Cake and Puppets which features Zuzana and Mik. I’ve picked up my copy to read, but I’d kinda like to have bookmarks to accompany the title, so we’ll probably see Zuzana as a ballerina puppet sooner rather than later.
I seem to produce quite a few characters with wings. Akiva is the third in the shop with angel wings. Others include Winged Crowley & Aziraphale (the “Ineffable Husbands” of Good Omens), and of course, Azriel, Cassian, and Rhysand from A Court of Thorn and Roses have bat wings.
I was thinking ahead when I chose to draw Karou with her hair up, her bun fixed in place with a set of pencils, and spattered in paint. (She’s an art student.) I know there’s going to be at least one other character with blue hair joining the collection at some point in the future, and I wanted Karou to be distinctive:
She’s tattooed, bearing her hamsas on either hand, and wearing a wishbone necklace (the same you see on Brimstone.) She also has two very tiny tattoos on either wrist that together read, “True Story.”
I’m offering one magnetic bookmark set in this series, featuring Karou and Akiva. It’s not the last of this series, however, because this release also marks the first time we have an Epic Collection available that includes all four characters: Brimstone, Zuzana, Karou, and Akiva.
All four characters.
FOUR.
Yeah, that’s big.
All you need to do is choose whether you want them mini, or mega. 😉

21. How was your day? (take this as an opportunity to rant if you want to)
Answered and ranted about here!!
33. Language/s you can speak
Sadly only English. :V
72. Are you a shipper? List your otps, if so (except hien and kiri 👀)
>:/ You took my fun away.
I end up shipping my friends characters more then I do actual characters in games/series. Like yea I’ll agree there’s characters I enjoy seeing together but I’m not a rabid fan that they HAVE TO BE TOGETHER. Being apart of the Bleach fandom once upon a time really kills your motivation to be involved in that stuff.
But for fun I’ll list a couple ships I do have in random fandoms :V
Jhin x Sona ( League of Legends )
Kayn x Sona ( League of Legends )
Caitlyn x Vi ( League of Legends )
Katarina x Garen ( League of Legends )
Xayah x Rakan ( League of Legends )
Akali x Evelyn (( KDA) League of Legends )
Lux x Sylas ( League of Legends )
Madrigal x Akiva ( Daughter of Smoke and Bone series )
Howl x Sophie ( Howl’s Moving Castle I SUGGEST READING THE BOOK IT’S SO GOOD )
Zidane x Garnet ( FFIX )
Steiner x Beatrix ( FFIX )

💕❤😍 #DaughterofSmokeandBone #HijadeHumoyHueso #DiasdeSangreyResplandor #LainiTaylor #Karou #Akiva #Brimstone #Madrigal #books #love #bookstagram #bookstagramarg #bookadict

Dreams of Gods and Monsters
Author: Laini Taylor
Book: 3/3
Genre: romantasy
Summary: The future tests on Karou as she has managed control over the Chimaera’s rebellion through means of deception. When the Seraph Emperor brings his army to the human world, Karou and Akiva are reunited through an alliance against a common enemy.
Review: I love this series, and though I have read this trilogy twice now, I am sad that it is over. This story never tires of its excitement and wonder. I love the fascinating universe Taylor created, and I love the beautiful love story between Karou and Akiva. Their dream of peace and happiness, and their will and hope that drives it is beautiful. Watching their dream become a reality, and Taylor using it to solidify her message of the power of hope, brings tears to my eyes. I also adore the fact that Mik and Zuzana have a role in the story, even though their humanity dwarfs them in comparison to Eretz’s complex dilemmas, history, and fantastical beings. It makes the story seem more real to me, being able to see parts of it through human eyes like my own. I would recommend this series to literally anyone who knows how to read, especially those interested in fantasy, romance, and outstanding world-building.
Rating: 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Author: Laini Taylor
Book: 1/3
Genre: romantasy
Summary: Karou is an art student in the city of Prague, leading a seemingly normal life among her peers. However, beyond her blue hair, mysterious sketchbook, and collage of tattoos, Karou leads a double life with her chimaera family and her strange job: collecting teeth for a sorcerer. When black handprints begin to show up on the portal doors, Karou’s life begins to unfold and she must discover who she really is in order to save her family.
Review: I loved this book. It’s my second time reading this series and I’m so excited to get my hands on the rest of the trilogy! Taylor is a wonderful story teller. Her story structure and pacing are fantastic and I adored how each detail of the book held significant meaning and/or provided foreshadowing. I was never bored during this book and Taylor neatly ties everything together in the end, but of course cleverly carving the path to the next book. Taylor’s writing discusses motifs of hope and love and the power each one holds, lighting the way in this dark fantasy world she created. I loved the characters and their uniqueness, and I’m so excited to uncover more of their stories that Taylor reveals as the trilogy continues. I would recommend this book to any romantasy readers, and to anyone intrigued by a fantastical world filled with chimaera and seraphim and their battle for power.
Rating: 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
