Starting a RP blog 101

1. Setting it up

So, you want to make an RP blog... Well, you've come to the right place!

To start off, you need to decide between opening up a side blog or making an entirely new account! If you make a side blog, you have complete and quick access to both your main account and other side blogs with a click of your finger, but you won't be able to send asks or like posts from your RP account. Instead, you would like things with your main account and send anon asks with a sign-off ( i.e. - @respect-the-hyphen ). As for a different account, you get access to both of those things, but it would take longer for you to switch between your main and RP. Personally, I made a side blog since I run many, many blogs and would like to quickly sift between all of them. This is entirely up to you, though!

Now, let's talk about setting the stage for your RP escapades. Your username should reflect the essence of your character or the theme of your RP universe. I personally chose respect-the-hyphen because I adore how pressed comic Peter gets over this. Your title should also reflect your blog, and you description can be anything from literally nothing to a long introduction. Your profile picture and banner should be eye-catching and give visitors a taste of what to expect from your RP. Think of them as the opening credits to your RP story.

As for your inquiry about choosing someone not taken, don't worry about that. No one cares if you become someone already taken; there's always room for interpretation and creativity. Just be yourself and have fun exploring the character's personality!

2. Getting out there

When you're ready to dive into RPing, consider creating an introduction post. This can include a brief bio of your character, their motivations, and what kind of interactions you're looking for. It's a great way to signal to other RPers that you're open for business! This is your chance to showcase your creativity and set the stage for epic storytelling.

After that, start interacting with other RPers by liking, reblogging, and commenting on their posts. Plus, make sure to add a few posts of your own into your arsenal. I set up a queue to post twice a day at prime time. When you start getting asks, I recommend answering a few every day or so and sticking them into queue so you have content for a while if you get busy. Queues are very, very useful

I promise it'll go alright. There are no rules for RPing. Just be creative and be you. Headcanons, original characters, and more are all welcome.

Remember, RPing is all about collaboration and storytelling. Have fun exploring your character's personality, engaging in interactions with other characters, and building memorable storylines. And most importantly, don't be afraid to be yourself and let your creativity shine!

eugh it's so hard to find people to roleplay with these days, everyone is in private cliques and discord servers

so anyway here's my last attempt at screaming into the void to find interactions, these are all the canon characters I write in all the different fandoms. I write para/multipara, just about any genre (esp angst and fluff and smut) m/m ships only and 18+ for various nsfw themes, and I'm open to canon compliant threads and AUs. I'm a lil slow on replies sometimes because life sucks and so does chronic pain, but I'm also down to just hang or play games or whatever idk. I don't always feel like writing every muse on the list, and I have my favorites, but I also have pretty niche interests so don't be afraid to reach out if something catches your eye. I'm a lil picky in who I write with, I don't care for drama and I require at least basic literacy, but other than that just be nice :3

OOC: Awkward muse cohabitation

I'm on TikTok (argonmasters, which is my current nom de plume), and I've been participating in GothamTok.

Because I'm me I started an arc on lead poisoning at Arkham Asylum because of sanding out lead paint during renovation.

All this today is I have a VERY, VERY FUCKING AWAKE Joker muse that like.. what am I supposed to do with you sir. I don't have enough direction for a fic.

And I recently saw clips from SSKTJL and wow. Holy shit. That is EXACTLY what Joker looks like in my head, more or less. Voice is pretty close too.

So now I just have a Joker hanging out that is cohabitating with Phil and they're basically ignoring each other like unfriendly cats.

thought i just had: the void that the levels are inside are sorta like a separate section of reality. Like almost a backrooms sorta deal- and it can change individuals who remain in it for too long, physically & Mentally.... 

sure there are some rare and isolated spots where the void starts bleeding into the ‘surface’ but otherwise it’s like completely seperate unless someone essentially punches a hole in the surface ‘reality’- which normally closes pretty quickly on it’s own if you don’t set up a specific sort of gateway for the hole to latch to so it won’t close. 

Also it gives potential for body-horror. Which I freakin love to doodle.

So...

Been listening to some of those entitled people horror stories... and one of them is one of those "person comes into money, helps a few family members, and then the vultures show up" stories.

Like... you earn all this money with your blood sweat and tears, so you invest in helping a few close family members and their kid's futures because you can... then someone thinks you should just hand over cash because of what you just did.

You of course tell them no, they complain to their relatives, and then... yer place is swarmed by flying monkeys demanding free handouts.

I mean... if they weren't there when times were hard and you needed them the most, what gives them the right to just take things when things are going well?

With that picture in mind... I wonder if that is exactly why Scrooge McDuck is such a recluse when it comes to the majority of his family?
