“So what you wanna talk about? If this is about M’Baku, I apologize.  He's wild as fuck I swear. Do you mind if I grab an apple?” She washed one off and handed it to him with a smile. He nodded as he bit into at how delicious it was heard:
“Ndiyazi ukuba ungubani kanye kanye ... iNkosana N'Jadaka (I know who you really are... Prince N'Jadaka),” Leslie said, causing him to cough from the shock and looked up; noticing her brow raise, folded arms and slight grin, hips leaning against the counter.
~
N’Jadaka looked up at Leslie and said “I can explain everything, Leslie. Wait, does she-“.
“Nope. She doesn't know anything. Y’know I was a little skeptical when we first met then I started to see you more and when Y/N told me about your trips to Wakanda, I just thought ‘hmmm, just another person from Wakanda. But then low and behold the freaking king and lord of Wakanda are in your house. You don’t know how to hide it, don’t you?”, Leslie asked before she took a sip of red wine. The prince looked down at his hands and sighed. “Look, I’m sorry but you have to keep this between us. She can't know right now”
“Why? So, my best friend doesn’t know she is gonna be one of your wives?”
“One of my wives? Leslie, where the hell did you hear that from?” Leslie poured another glass and said, “my grandma told me when she was back home, the kings and princes had multiple wives. Look, I ain’t tryna talk shit about our own culture but Y/N is too good to be one of your wives. I ain’t with that shit and neither would she.” N’Jadaka laughed and said “with all due respect, she must have not been there for decades because we stopped that shit when my unc became king. Queen Mother wasn't with that shit at all either so I get you. I care about Baby Girl too damn"
Leslie leaned forward on her hand as she asked "then why can't she know? I mean you love her and what not so why keep her in the dark?" N'Jadaka took a deep breath and started to explain why. "Well, I feel like if she finds out she may leave me, use me, or just whatever the fuck she wants. I had to basically stop my friends from mentioning people around me. I have to keep a very low profile at all times or someone will run and ask for my autograph like I'm Beyonce or something."
"With all due respect my prince, you will never be Beyonce. And do you really think sissy is like that", she asked in a monotone voice, left brow rose and arms extra folded. N'Jadaka sat up and looked her in the face before saying “no. To be honest, I just wanna protect my baby. She really does mean a lot to me but I just know a lot of folks will come after her. I promise I will tell her.”
"When", said Leslie when she rolled her eyes, not believing him. N'Jadaka kept her eyes on her as he dug in his pocket and slid a velvet box towards her. “N’Jadaka…is that what I think it is?” Leslie looked to him before grabbing the box and once she opened it, all she can say was:
"Wow."
"Yeah, been holding on since we made it official."
"N'Jadaka, this is beautiful. But wait, why buy a ring but not tell her about you being royality?"
"It may seem foolish but it was M'Baku's idea. He said it would be more suspenseful, dramatic but mostly I did it because I want to take her on a trip to Wakanda in a few months and tell her." Leslie couldn’t stop looking at the ring; a 2 1/4 ct tw Emerald-cut 14K White Gold but the band looked like it was a polished vibranium finish. Leslie felt teary eyed just looking at it, just imagining how her best friend would react and how beautiful of a bride she would be. “Wow, this is really nice and beautiful and sweet. I’m sorry that I’m so dramatic. I am just so happy for y’all.” He walked over to her and hugged her tight as he chuckled. “Well, I’m happy you love it. I can’t wait to see my baby’s reaction.”
They heard footsteps and had to be inconspicuous; N’Jadaka let go of Leslie and started caressing the fridge while Leslie wiped her face clean of tears and sipped her wine clean, they saw the ring and its box; he grabbed and hid it in his pocket. Y/N waltzed in with her nephew on her like a koala. “Hey, Monte. They in here and for some reason, babe is making love to y’all new fridge.”
“If he gets my fridge pregnant, he will pay child support”, Monte said as he walked behind her. Soon, everyone made their way to the backyard where it was a whole barbeque feast along with pot roast, baked mac and cheese and multiple side dishes. “So, JD. How is the OutReach center going, man? Sis been tellin’ me about some of programs already?”
“Oh yeah. You know we have the whole nine yards but I think the kids are going to be more into the science and art programs though. We also got the sports coming in too so the kids are gonna love it.” Monte nodded and asked “So JD, when are you and sis gonna make me an uncle?” Y/N coughed on her white wine and fanned herself to breathe again; Izaiah patted her back to make sure she was okay. Leslie told Monte “baby, don’t tryna sound like pops please. They will have kids one day.”
“Leslie baby, I know. I’m just talking trash, that's all.” Leslie cut into her pot roast as she glared at him and said “well, ya better stop or your butt is gonna be talking to that couch.” Monte looked at her and glared at her back but went back to his food then asked “so, baby sis, when y’all getting married”; this made Leslie choke like Y/N and she quickly drank her water while everyone watched. N’Jadaka sat there with wide eyes eating his food then relaxed them once she felt Y/N’s hand on his thigh. She looked to her good friend and said “when the time comes, Monte. I don’t want to rush into anything, you know what I mean but even if he never asks me to be his wife; it doesn't matter to me. I will always love him.” N’Jadaka looked at her and smirked as she winked and went back to his food.
Tumblr media
Once they finished dessert, Monte, N’Jadaka and Izaiah were playing with a huge yoga ball in the backyard. Leslie grabbed her vape, added a cream pineapple flavor and took a small puff, making sure to blow the smoke out where Y/N wasn’t sitting. “I can’t believe Monte asked that”, Y/N said before pouring her fourth glass of white wine. Leslie took another hit and asked “which one”?
“About me having a kid with him. He know that is a touchy ass subject so why ask?” Leslie took a deep breath sipping her red wine and said “I’m sorry, Y/N/N. I feel bad now.” Y/N looked to her then looked at the three boys and watched as N’Jadaka played with her godson. He looked so happy as he played with the small child; it warmed her heart so much but then she felt a tear drop and her heart shattered. She excused herself and went straight to the bathroom. Once she did, she saw her mascara running down her cheeks. “Great, there goes my makeup.” She grabbed one of Leslie’s makeup wipes and tapped her running mascara marks away. She then dug into her purse to grab her setting powder, her travel powder brush and started to cover what was missing from her makeup. Y/N closed her eyes, took a deep breath and told herself “I am beautiful. I am powerful. I am strong. I am loved and I matter.” She opened her eyes to see Monte standing behind her with a concerned face that made her heart fall to her kneecaps. “What the fuck, Monte?! When the Hell did you get in here?!”
“Uh, when you started chanting like Angela Bassett praying like Tina Turner”; she rolled her eyes and he looked at her reflection. “Bae told me where you were and also cussed me the fuck out so yeah.” She looked at him as she reapplied her eyeliner then her mascara. Monte bent down to place his head on her shoulder, pouting as he looked in the mirror. “Sissy, you ain’t mad at me are you?”
“I’m chillin’, Monte.”
“You sit on a throne of lies, madam. I’ve known you since middle school and I know how you are, missy. You get that look in ya like you wanna shank someone in the knee cap then ya nostrils start flaring up.” Y/N looked up to him which made him point at her and stand up straight. “See, there it is”; she turned to him which made him yelp and slam his back into the door. She poked into his chest as she said the following words:
“Why the hell would you mention children knowing what I've been through?” Monte relaxed his shoulders a tad and took a deep breath; he hung his head in defeat and replied: “I am sorry, sis. I feel really bad. I meant no harm by it.” Y/N looked at him with folded arms before he asked, “he doesn’t know, does he”; she stood in silence which he took as an answer. “You gonna have to tell him one day right, sis? You can’t hide it from him forever.” Y/N stood there, feeling as if she was disappointed in herself. She loves N’Jadaka dearly but what if her secret would make him leave for good.
Once it was time to go, Y/N placed her god baby in his bed and tucked him while JD watched. He grinned thinking of how great of a mom she would be. He thought about what he was asked at dinner and just couldn’t stop imagining him and Y/N as parents. He felt like she he was a chunky baby, their child would also be a chunky one as well. He didn't care if they had a boy or girl first; the only thing that mattered was the health and well being of the child or, as he would like in the future, children. When he was growing up in Oakland, California, he only really had his father up until he was eight sadly. Once his father passed away and his family took him to Wakanda, Mother Ramonda and Father T’Chaka were his parental figures. At fourteen years old, his family decided to explain his mother’s death; she passed away two days after giving birth to him. This became a fear for him especially if he and Y/N decide to make their own family.
The ride home was honestly so quiet which wasn’t their typical quiet, there was some tension that you can cut with a knife. When they got to N’Jadaka’s home, she hopped in the shower as he was checking his phone and getting undressed. Y/N stood looking in the mirror after she hopped out, she had to come clean about her secret. To her, communication was key and she knew that if she kept this hidden then it would keep eating at her. In bed, her in a huge shirt and him in just sweat pants, they just lied there looking at the ceiling; and that’s how they dosed off.
Tumblr media
Y/N woke up to the smell of breakfast so she stood, stretched her limbs and headed to do her morning routine before leaving the bathroom. N’Jadaka stood at the counter as she walked out, listening to Brent Faiyaz and setting the waiting area. He poured some OJ in tall curved glasses and followed half the cup with champagne. On their plates were fluffy omlettes with spinach, peppers and cheese, wheat toast, turkey sausage links, bacon and a side of hashbrowns. She sat at the counter and took a small sigh before saying “good morning” with a small smile and buttering her toast. N’Jadaka can tell something was troubling her and said “y’know? My unc always said ‘you can always feel if something is troubling someone you care for.’ You have something on your mind. I can feel it”.
“I just been thinking about what Monte said at dinner”, she said after showing and finishing a slice of toast. N’Jadaka looked up at her while he sipped his mimosa. Once he placed his cup back down and moved his food next to her as he sat. N’Jadaka sat ext to her and leaned into her saying “baby, we already talked about this. We don’t have to get married anytime soon, love. We-”.
“I can’t have kids, N’Jadaka”, she said as she poked at her food. N’Jadaka was taken back honestly mentally. He had no idea what to say in the situation. He couldn’t imagine what was going on through her mind. But all he can do was stand as ahe looked down at her plate and hugged her from behind. He rested his chin on her head and as the hug went on, he heard little sniffs and felt her rub his arm slowly; the sound of her crying broke his heart. He kissed her head to comfort her and said “it’s okay, Y/N.”
Tumblr media
“It’s not. I just-” ; she stopped and continued. “What if you wanted kids one of these days and I can’t give them to you. I just- I just don’t want you to regret being with me...” He looked over her head, took a deep, holding her tighter before he letting go and went to sit back down. “Y/N, I will never regret being with you. I love you way too much to say that is a deal breaker. We don’t have to have kids right now and when the time comes, we can just try and do our research. And even if we still have a baby, I can’t see myself with anyone but you.”
“Really”, she said as she look up at him while tearing up a bit. N’Jadaka wiped her tears with his thumbs as he told her “of course, beautiful. I would never call it quits because of that. We will make it work. Aight?” She nodded and he leaned into her lips and kissed them softly. “Now, eat ya food, shower, get dolled up, alright? You been working a lot, you may got a little burn out and stress going on so I’m take you to get ya nails and feet done. Maybe, a deep ass massage, a little shopping trip for you and not for your shop. Okay?”
Y/N sat there in her feelings but they weren’t bad feelings. She felt love, she felt safe and never felt this way with any man before and she was okay with that. After they ate and got ready, they headed out and spent the day together. He would steal some looks of her. Watching her with pineapple hair, black shades, tye dye body con dress with red slides to match, she was beautiful not even trying. As they walked the street of Rodeo, he would pull her and wrap his arms around showing her a warm embrace. He couldn’t imagine his life without her. Even just watching her get nails and feet done, he still loved being around her and in her presence. As she talked and got pampered, he watched as she smiled and everytime she did, there was light that just shined and made everyone smile from ear to ear; he couldn’t wait to make her Mrs. Udaku and treat her like royalty the rest of their lives.
Tumblr media
The following week, both of their schedules were hectic as heck. From the Outreach Center to the grand opening of her salon, they have been overly busy with everything. When ever they were together, they were always working but they always made sure that made time for one another. On the next off day for N’Jadaka, he sat at his place bored and laying in bed. All of a sudden, he heard a knock on the door and got up to answer; it was Jerald and Sheila. The couple wore a matching Nike sweatsuit and had bags in their hands. “Hey, man. Where baby girl at”, Sheila asked. He told her “working on the shop, S. She’ll be home in a few hours.”
Jerald places the bags on his counter and said “my moms made you grip of food, bruh. Cornbread, greens, pot roast, all that.” N’Jadaka rubbed his hands together feeling his inner fat boy jumping for joy. “Awe shiet. Ma Dukes threw down, huh?”
“You know she did. How ya fam doing by the way? I know the finna all be down here soon for the grandopening in like a month, huh?”
“Yeah, but between me and you, they just wanna meet Y/N. M’Baku and T already did and B’s big ass try to talk to Leslie.” Jerald and Sheila now sat on the couch as Jerald said “Leslie got a whole ass child and man though right.” While she rubbed Jerald’s back, she told the guys “please that aint stopping nothing for M’Baku. Remember her tried to get at me when I was a few months pregnant?” N’Jadaka chuckled and said “oh yeah and he was trying to challenge him on the mountain. Nah, that was funny as fuck.”
“Man, I still got PTSD from being on that damn mountain being butt ass naked.” N’Jadaka passed them some drinks like water and apples juice before sitting. “So, JD, did you do it yet”, Jerald asked and N’Jadaka replied “nah, not yet man. I want it to be special though and y’all got be apart of it.”
“I’m sorry but what are y’all talking about?”
“N’Jadaka is proposing to Y/N”. N’Jadaka said “NIGGUH! Now, you know S can’t keep a damn secret.” She stood and said “am not. At least I aint tell the baby you a whole ass Prince of Wakanda. Did I, hmmm?” Jerald looked at N’Jadaka and said “bae, you kinda told the last girl he hooked up with though.” She looked at him and seemed as if a ray of heat hit the back of his head because his eye twitched once before he said “she looking at me is she?” He avoided her glance as his friend chuckled before saying “Sheila, please don’t tell my girl anything. But my plan is to tell her that I got a surprise vacation planned, she won’t need anything just her and her phone, right? Ima get Dora Milaje to dress up and up on the aircraft then on the plane I will tell her we in Wakanda and all that but then once, we getting greeted by all the tribes. Ima make her feel like royalty the whole night you know after I tell her. Then Auntie talking about a welcoming feast and party but after that, Ima take her to the garden then BOOM candles every where, flowers falling, the purple night sky and my hands in hers as I get on one knee and then this.” He even got on his right knee as he showed the ring. Jerald stood and looked at the ring. “This shiet is sick as fuck, bruh.”
“Is that a vibranium band, JD?” The prince looked at the ring as he stood and said “yeah, it is. Because just like vibranium, our love can withstand anything and last for generations to come.” He heard sniffles as he looked up and saw not only Sheila crying but also Jerald. “That’s so beautiful, nigga. Got my crying and shiet.” Sheila looked to him and pushed him out the way to get to JD. “I promise I won’t saying anything. I am so happy for y’all, baby brother. EEEEK, I can’t wait.”
“Hey, y’all. Can’t wait for Sheila?” They shock to see Y/N standing there with black plastic bags of food. She wore some distressed jeans, a white tee and matching Converse; her hair was in a low bun. Sheila looked at the box in N’Jadaka’s hand and stood in front so he can hide the ring in his pocket and said “the grand opening of the salon, sis. Y’know what? That reminds me, girl. We actually got to get our fits ready. The event is in two days, right?” She pulled Jerald up and pushed him to door as she got her answer and walking; they said their byes with some hugs and left. Y/N turned to her man and said, with a confused expression as she walked to him, placed the bags on the coffee, “was J crying?”
“Yeah, we watching a sad ass movie, Sheila made us watched.” She giggled and wrapped his arms around his neck to kiss his lips once; he growled in pleasure and wrapped his arms around her waist, deeply kissing her. She moaned as her lips and tongue make love to his. She began to hold the back of neck getting deeper into the kiss until she smelt the food. She tried to pull away from the kiss but he didn’t want to stop.
“Baby, the food is gonna cold.”
“Fuck that food. I wanna eat you instead.”
“Baby, I’m hungry.”
“You can eat later after I eat.”  With that, he picked her up, wrapped her legs around his waist and made their way to the bedroom. He threw her gently on the bed and started crawling up her body. “You gonna feed me, baby girl, or do I gotta unwrap my food myself.” She looked up at him while on her elbows before unzipping and slipped out her jeans. He began kissing her inner thighs before slipping her panties to the side. Slipping his thick digits inside her made her grip them instant as he did a curling motion as he sucked her clit. She moaned at the feeling and felt all her stress from the work week. She looked down at him to see his gentle orbs looked right at her.
He loved making eye contact whether it was missionary.
“I love you so much”.
From the side.
“Damn, this pussy good as fuck, baby girl.”
And especially from the back. God, bless that mirror.
“Look at you taking all this dick. Mmmm fuck. Don’t you look beautiful taking this dick.”
“I look so good taking this dick, daddy.” After they made love, he stood from the bed still nude and said “aight, baby. You wanna eat?” All the answer he got was when he heard little snores behind him; he just chuckled and laughed.
It was the night of the grand opening and they were ready. N’Jadaka looked in the mirror of the bedroom and knew he looked good in his attire with his coat wide open and gold fangs glistening. Y/N came out in her amazing dress and he was taken aback. He kissed her cheek and they were off. They saw the news trucks, her family, friends, and supporters as they pulled up. Y/N got local black businesses to cater the event, and she had something to say before she opened the doors.
“Hey, everyone. If you do not know who I am, I’m Y/N Y/L/N . I have been doing hair since very young young and been saving for this moment. This may sound cliche but I honestly am very thankful for y’all support and just being here. It was a very long road to travel down but it was all so worth it. I appreciate you all from friends and family for having my back for years but I also want to thank a man who has showed me so much love in the year and few we have dated and that man is Mr. N’Jadaka Udaku, who without him, I wouldn’t be standing here now.”  She held out her hand to signal him to come and as everyone cheered, clapped and took photos, he stood behind her, hugging her from the back and just being so proud of her but they didn’t know what was happening a few feet behind the crowd.
There was a couple leaning in a silver Nissan Altima, wearing all black hiding in the night. “So, what you got planned to fuck them over,” said the man who was still upset N’Jadaka has his ex now. He looked towards the woman and said “just know, you inspired this plan… a lot.”  The woman was about to do something to ruin what a good thing the couple had, but she didn’t care and was willing to do anything to let Y/N know she made a huge mistake.

Um....who in the raggedy hell plotting on Y/N and the Prince and HOW do you think Y/N will feel when she finds out N'Jadaka is a whole Prince? Find out in the next chapter. *evil cackle*

~The Broken Soul~
Tumblr media
Masterlist
A/N: This was requested by Sp44wn on AO3. Thank you for another request! I really liked this idea. ♥️
Summary: T'Challa tries to convince Erik to let him help him heal the wound caused at the end battle.
Pairing: None. Warning: Angst, mentions of death & trauma.
This was the moment Erik had prepared for his whole life. The moment where death and karma decided to both finally take him away from the world that he had done so much wrong to.
Killing, stealing, hurting, betraying.... he was finally paying for it and he was ready.... well.... that was what he had taught himself to think from a young age. Inside he was still the scared little boy that had lived his whole life in misery. He never meant to turn out the way he did, but years suffering from trauma and revenge destroyed his innocent side. The hatred was all that was left in him and he knew he would never be able to get free from its hold.
"We can still heal you...."
"Why so you can lock me up? Nah. Just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, 'cause they knew death was better than bondage." He hissed, trying to pull out the knife that had planted itself between his ribcage and heart during their fight.
"Think about this real good, N'Jadaka." He could hear his father speak to him through the blood droning in his ear and he teared up. He wanted to die, he wanted the pain to end, he wanted to be reunited with his father, but he also didn't want to disappoint him by giving up so easily.
He had trained hard for this.... and he failed.
"Erik, perhaps we can still rearrange something.... I know my father did wrong, and it caused him to create something way worse than he feared, but we don't have to end up the same way our fathers did. Take my hand and we will end this cycle." T'Challa held out his hand, hoping the stubborn man would let go off the knife and take it. However the time it took for the man to make a move scared him.
He was scared he would let himself die, and honestly, Erik thought about it, but then his father's words would echo through his mind again. 'Think about this real good, N'Jadaka.' What did it mean? To Erik it sounded as if his father wanted him to live and learn to enjoy life and a part of him wanted it....
Though, a part of him just wanted to pay for what he had done as well. He never regretted standing his ground and believing in what he believed, but the way he handled it and managed to get where was now he did regret.
"I know you feel guilty for what you have done and that means that there is still good left in you. Let's get you home and healthy again."
"I brought Wakanda in danger, I brought everyone in danger. I killed for this shit. I betrayed for this shit. The people hate me."
"We'll make sure you get the help you need mentally and physically, but you have to take my hand and stop thinking about everything you've done then. Wakanda will be able to forgive you for what you did." He watched the man with eyes of understanding, not judging him but rather putting the blame on his own father. This was a boy who grew up seeing only the bad side of the world and T'Challa wanted to change that. "And they will accept that you belong here now."
"I'm an outsider." He growled, hating to call himself that, though he knew everyone saw him as just an African-American assassin.
"No, from today on, you will be a rightful royal Wakandan citizen and anyone who hurts you will be punished by the Wakandan law."
"You promise....?" He looked up, finally pulling his gaze away from the beautiful sunset his father had once told him about when he was a young kid.
"I promise." He gave him a nod to clarify and carefully Erik took his hand, letting the king help him to his feet to bring him to the lab for surgery.
He didn't know why he accepted it in the end, but he wanted to live, wanted to show his dad he hadn't only put a monster into this world. He wanted to learn how to live, enjoy the good things in life.
Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad with the right help after all?

"King Killmonger: The Golden Jaguar" Chapter 5

"We hope each soul will find
Around and inside
Another soul to love
Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer, just like every child
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe"
Avery Wilson & Candace Boyd—"The Prayer"
Yani held onto the hand of her baby sister Anika, as her middle sister Dawnette gushed over meeting Tahir. Anika told their entourage of women—Twyla, Zola, Ilana—the story of Killmonger and Tahir spending the night at their Aunt Leona's cramped apartment when she was sixteen and impressionable. But now that she was in her early twenties and legal, she had the right of first dibs on the handsome foreigner to Wakanda.
They entered the banquet venue's snazzy restroom where a full sitting room/powder room was set up before one even made it to the restrooms in a separate section. Checking their make-up and showering the room with their loud gossip over men and available bachelors, Yani noticed Ime in a corner with four other women seated on plush chairs chatting. Anika and Dawnette followed Twyla into the restroom to relieve themselves of wine and other spirits passed around for the after dessert libations. Yani took note of a few other noblewomen clucking together in their various groupings parceled about using wall mirrors to fix hair, and check make-up.
It was obvious that women snuck glances at Yani and she smiled while passing others to get to Ime.
"Princess Yani," Ime said.
Ime stood quickly and her friends did too, showing Yani respect.
"Leave us please…I would like to speak with Ime," Yani said.
Zola and Ilana walked away and kept watch over her for any intrusions.
"Shall we chat for a moment?" Yani said.
Ime nodded and Yani led her to some chairs in a corner that faced away from the other women in the room giving them some privacy.
"I wanted to talk to you about our relationship going forward. After I marry King N'Jadaka, I will be having a series of special events throughout Birnin Zana. Private teas, luncheons, and of course, the Queen's Ball. You and I will see a lot of each other because of Ramatla's position working for my husband."
"Of course."
Ime's voice was sweet as pie, but Yani wasn't keen on her maintaining a façade any longer.
"I know you don't like me. No need for us to pretend that you give a fuck about what I think about you."
Ime's eyes widened and several women within hearing distance moved away quickly to avoid catching strays. Hushed voices spread throughout the powder room and every woman not connected to Yani or Ime vacated the premises immediately. Zola and Ilana strolled over to the restroom toilet entrance to provide interference in case their party came out.
Ime pulled her shoulders back and lifted her head higher. She regarded Yani as a worthy adversary. Her mask fell away.
"It is true. I do not like you. You aren't fit to be queen—"
"You uncouth bitch!" Zola snapped.
Ilana held Zola back.
"I'm a bitch?" Ime said, slanting her gaze toward Zola. "You disloyal witches were so quick to scuttle over to her side that you threw away years of our friendship…and for what? A chance to be around the king?"
Yani glanced at Zola and Ilana. Ime craned her neck back and folded her arms over her chest. Her gaze burned into Yani's face.
"Do you know how many eligible women here that are better than you who would kill to have N'Jadaka Udaku?" Ime said.
"I know you are one of them," Yani said.
Ime didn't flinch. Her lips twisted into a devilish smirk.
"You are damn right. I was one of those women. Had you or that other one not showed up, I'd be in your place right now."
"Listen to this hussy!" Zola hissed.
Yani held up her hand to silence Zola.
Twyla, Anika and Dawnette wandered back in.
"What's going on?" Twyla asked, quickly sizing up the tension.
"Twyla, would you mind taking my sister's back to our party? I need to talk to Lady Ime in private," Yani said.
Twyla took the hint and gathered up the younger women toward the exit. Zola and Ilana followed behind to block anyone else from entering. Yani leaned her left arm over her right on the armrest and crossed her legs.
"I will be queen soon, so any dreams or aspirations you bad minded bitches had about N'Jadaka are over fuh good. I'll fuck up anyone who tries tuh come for we…even Remy."
Ime huffed and jumped to her feet. Yani's chest burned. She took her time standing up like a powerful royal woman with the highest status in the land shared with her man.
"This hatred yuh have in your heart…keep it or throw it away. I don't care. You mean nothing to me. However, we both have a duty to our country—"
"You are not a real Wakandan, Yani Galiber. You are a fake. A blight on the bloodline. You think your position is safe just because you will marry him tomorrow? Hmmph. Then you don't truly know the history of Udaku men. They have an appetite…a lust for life that you could never satisfy as an outsider. No Wakandan man in his right mind would see you as any kind of prize."
"Well, your man has a taste for me, so I can't be all that bad."
Ime's eyes narrowed and her right hand went up high to strike Yani.
"Ime stop!"
Remy's voice rattled them both. He grabbed Ime's arm and pulled her away before her hand connected with Yani's face.
"My apologies Princess Yani. She has disrespected you and I am…embarrassed by this."
Ime snatched her arm away. Her cold eyes had gone beyond jealous hatred. There was envious murder lodged in them too. Yani took a step back sensing an uncontrollable rage flowing through her nemesis. Remy struggled to get Ime's hand back down to her side. She stuck a finger in Yani's direction.
"You aren't special. He will get bored with you…you are nothing like us…"
Ime vomited hatred with her words, and Yani stood strong with a half smile on her face, allowing the woman to get everything off of her chest right then and there. Had Yani worn her finger armor that night, there would've been deep bloody holes in Ime's face. She kept a rigid posture despite her blood pressure going up. A physical entanglement would only fuel the fire of other nobles who felt the same as Ime. Her throat tightened and she parceled her words carefully. Yani's mind screamed to revoke Ime's wedding invitation, but she wanted the woman to watch her nuptials and squirm about it. Diplomacy and tact were the order of the evening.
"Lady Ime, I appreciate your honesty. You have never minced your words, so I will not run around the bush with mine. King N'Jadaka and I are one blade."
Ime's eyes narrowed hearing the euphemism. Remy watched Yani's face with an apprehensive expression. Had it been a club in St. Thomas back when she kept a reckless mouth, Yani would not hesitate to let all of the noble women know she was a good pussy gyal. They way N'Jadaka carried on in her pum pum was all the evidence she needed. The elites could come for Yani all they wanted, but that bad man from the hill wasn't going anywhere.
She took a step forward and Remy repositioned his left foot in front of the tips of her shoes to create a barrior between the two women. Biting back the rancor in her throat and the urge to call Ime a heavy-tongued cow foot whore, she opted to act her position.
"Your campaign to vilify me or make me feel less worthy of the throne has failed. You can't have N'Jadaka, so you go for Remy. The way I hear it, you backstabbed your best friend to get him…so if I were you Ime, I would worry about repairing my social reputation instead of coming for a queen. Good luck with this one, Remy. It's a pity that your family settled for this waste gyal as your future wife—"
Ime lunged for Yani. Remy became a shield. He hugged Yani and protected her body from Ime's attack. Ilana and Zola rushed over and yanked Ime into a corner, pushing her back against a wall mirror. They shoved her shoulders and cursed in her face to keep her from going up against Yani again.
"Please forgive her…I'm sorry for everything," Remy pleaded.
He held Yani's shoulders and she could feel his warm breath blow across her lips. From the reflection in the mirror behind him, Yani noticed N'Jadaka walking in with Twyla. Remy's hands dropped away from her body quickly, but N'Jadaka saw it all. Ilana rushed to the king's side and whispered something to him before he reached their side of the powder room. He moved like a stalking cat toward Ime afterward, ignoring Remy and Yani completely. Zola stepped to the side giving N'Jadaka space. Ime cowered before the man she desired above all others.
Everyone remained silent. N'Jadaka's smoldering presence held them all in a chokehold. Ime trembled.
"Look at me," N'Jadaka commanded.
Ime turned her head to the side and refused to do so. N'Jadaka crowded her body and Yani knew exactly how that felt up close. The heat. The crackling energy. The sexual prowess. It was too much to process all at once, and for a mere second, Yani pitied Ime. Her greatest desire was right in front of her and she couldn't even look at him.
"Don't make me repeat myself."
"King N'Jadaka, I beg…let me remove her from your presence. She has been drinking—"
"Do you have permission to speak to me?"
N'Jadaka didn't bother to look at Remy. His voice boomed and the message was received.
Stand down.
Ime lifted her head. Watery eyes peered at the king.
"I don't normally get into women's business, but I warned you once about bothering her, so now I will give you a choice. Get on your knees in front of her and beg forgiveness for your insolence or I will strip you from your title and make life hell for your entire family."
Ime jammed her back against the mirror with horror dripping from her eyes.
"She accosted me…I was minding my own business with friends," Ime whined.
"Ime…just do it. Stop making this worse for yourself. If you have no title, we cannot marry," Remy said.
The tears fell then. Ime wiped at her eyes as if her own body betrayed her. Yani slipped her hand around N'Jadaka's.
"Let it be. She's drunk and we know how powerful the drinks have been tonight. We need to leave for rest. Our wedding will be here soon, king," Yani said.
Mercy.
That is what Yani gave Ime. Although it would've been a sight to see Ime groveling at her feet, Yani wanted to be above the woman in the best way. Knowing N'Jadaka showed his trump card, she doubted Ime would get out of line ever again. The threat of losing a title was worse than going to hell in Wakanda.
The king allowed Yani to lead him away from Ime, and Remy rushed to her side, throwing an arm around his fiancé's waist. He guided her quivering form away from certain banishment. Twyla wandered over.
"Gossip has already spread outside. When you walk out of here, look cheerful like nothing happened," Twyla said.
Strolling hand-in-hand with Twyla cracking a joke, they left the powder room laughing. Their performance was good enough to get them past a few people, but it was clear the mood had shifted in the banquet room toward her. The upper class were shook to their core. No one was safe if the king jumped for Yani like that in public.
Yani gathered up her children with Leona and Dante's help, and they all bid farewell to the hosts and their dinner companions from the center table. Couples were still dancing and liquor still flowed and would do so into the night. Nobles from all the tribes rushed up to Yani and wished her a good evening, hoping that she graced them with her sweet voice and a smile. N'Jadaka shook hands and accepted congratulations for their upcoming nuptials once more. She waved at her favorite people throughout the banquet room while Zola and Ilana stayed close with her sisters in tow.
N'Jadaka held Yani's and Joba's hand until they were outside the venue boarding a different vehicle with the children by themselves. Yani turned on the sound-proof barrier for the back seat where Joba, Riki, and Sydette sat comfortably, their eyes drowsy from all the activity of the day. They spoke freely without their driver and guard hearing.
"I'm glad you didn't fight her physically," N'Jadaka said.
"Me too. It wouldn't be a good look for us, no matter how much she deserved to get boxed. She knows where I stand. That's the important thing when dealing with a yamhead gyal."
"Remy has a problem on his hands."
"You do too."
"How's that?"
Yani leaned into him and held onto his arm.
"According to her, you were supposed to be her betrothed if I hadn't showed up in Wakanda. Remy was her back up consolation prize."
The corners of his lips went down and his brows joined in the center.
"This caste culture is very particular, very selective of whom they pair couples. The more I learn, the more I see how dangerous it was for my father to choose my mother. Sometimes I think she would've received the same treatment."
"They aren't nice about my foreignness at all in Ime's cliques. She even insinuated that Ilana and Zola only came to me to get close to you."
"We know there are advantages being around me. But those two…," He gave a casual glance to to Yani, "Their hearts are in the right place. They adore you. I know they have crushes on me, but those are just harmless feelings. Most times I have to bargain with them just to get you to myself all alone."
Yani grinned and stroked a finger up and down his chest.
"Are you still going to your bachelor party tonight?" she asked.
"It's not a party. A little get together with the fellas."
"Where will you guys go?"
"We're staying in the palace. I have some food and drinks prepared up in the salon. We'll play cards, smoke cigars…catch up with my cousins. Nothing crazy."
"Strippers?"
Yani giggled and N'Jadaka put an arm around her pulling her into his side. Her breasts mashed into his chest.
"I've seen enough naked women in my life to last me. Every color, size, and from damn near every continent. I'd get bored watching some stranger shake ass for mere entertainment with a bunch of men. Smoking, drinking and shooting the shit is all I want to do. Besides…I have the baddest woman on the planet and I'll get my own private show after we get married."
She puckered her lips and he lowered his head to brush his mouth against hers.
They arrived in the palace parking structure at a reasonable hour. N'Jadaka carried Joba and Riki, while Yani carried Sydette in her arms. Back at their home, Kora helped guide the children away from the front door in their sleepy daze toward the stairs.
"I guess we have to say goodnight here," Yani said.
She wrapped her arms around N'Jadaka's waist and he held her close.
"Yep. I say goodbye to Princess Yani forever. I'll miss her."
They locked eyes, basking in the moment together.
"Thank you for never giving up on me…even when you thought I was gone forever. Thank you for making sure our children knew about me. Thank you for being the light that brought me back to myself…the light that showed me that I could find a perfect love in paradise. You have made this imperfect man so very happy."
"Thank you for coming into my life…thank you for believing in me and making sure I was taken care of even when you thought death was a possibility for yourself. Thank you for being the love of my life…choosing our precious Sydette as your own and giving me my beautiful son. Thank you for trusting me to raise a special extra daughter too. You have made this equally imperfect woman very happy too."
"Well shit, we might as well be married now. Sounded like we said some vows," he joked.
"I know. I'm actually happy that we don't have to say a lot tomorrow. I already feel like crying…"
"Aye girl…no tears…"
Yani buried her face in his chest and wept out her happiness. He rubbed her back with loving hands and cooed in her ear soft words of love.
"You are my life, baby."
He pulled away and kissed her forehead.
"Go on now, get some beauty rest. We all get to sleep in until twelve thirty. I shouldn't even be looking at you right now. We're supposed to stay separated," he said.
She held his hands, not wanting to let him go, not wanting to part from his warmth and strength. Staring into his eyes, she luxuriated in the overpowering essence of his presence the way Ime had experienced him up close. Yani still thrilled to his energy and aura. She pulled him in for a kiss…a long one. Their heads moved from side to side and his hands palmed her backside, squeezing the heavy orbs. His tongue explored and made promises for their wedding night. He kissed her woozy and she stepped back on weak legs. Her brain felt mushy and her body tingled all over. Especially down below.
"I should go now," he said.
"Okay."
Neither one of them left the front door.
"I have to change clothes for my bachelor party," he said.
"Hmmm."
His dimples and septum ring mesmerized her. The glint of his gold panther teeth held her captive when his lips parted in a gentle smile. The king's body heat wrapped her in a cocoon of love. His too-muchness enveloped all of her senses and she suppressed the urge to look away from his face.
N'Jadaka's kimoyo beads lit up breaking the spell for Yani.
"It's Mpilo…I betta dip. Can't be late to my own gathering," he said.
Yani moved away from him knowing that if he touched her again, she would pull him into their home and up to her bed.
"Love you," he said.
She blew him a kiss and dashed inside the front door, closing it quickly. Resting her back against it, she touched her face. It was hot and a light sheen of nervous sweat covered the back of her neck. She touched her stomach to calm the butterflies there. Lord…he still made her swoon like it was their first time together.
"Are you alright, Princess Yani?"
Sindiswa, the evening attendant for their home approached Yani with concern.
"I'm fine. Can you please bring me some bria tea and chocolate biscuits to my bedroom?"
"Yes, ma'am."
Yani climbed the stairs thinking of love, family, and finally having her happy new beginning with N'Jadaka.

Sunrises in Wakanda were a stunning tapestry painted with the delicate hand of Bast.
N'Jadaka rose early before the streaks of orange, rose, pale turquoise, and magenta saturated the horizon heralding the golden return of the sun.
He bathed in a wide tub filled with oils and herbs to purify his body for marriage. The humble priest Dinani waited for him on the balcony where they prayed together in the language of Bast, the ancient tongue that supported him through his transformation on the holy mountain. Ogum stirred in his chest and quickly rose to the crown of his head where the energies of two gods merged.
The ancestors rested within him.
Dinani and N'Jadaka's former temple caretaker Ayiz'e smudged him head to toe fully nude with river sage and more prayer work. As the sun rose, he watched it golden the sky while listening to a recording of a berimbau being played by his mother and a drum pounded by his Grandpop. He prepared his mind for hours of ceremony and honed in on Ayiz'e warming up a thick glob of ceremonial body butter in her hands. The pale yellow substance melted into clear oil and she rubbed it all over him, even his locs. It smelled wonderful, like citrus and honey. She knelt down and rubbed it on his buttocks and the back of his thighs. Dinani observed the preparation making sure no spot on his body was missed. Ayiz'e started rubbing the oil on his groin and when she stroked his flaccid penis and scrotum with it, Dinani held up a tied leather bundle about seven inches long.
"Kumkani, before you consummate your union with the new queen, you must remember to give Bast an offering of your semen first. Princess Yani has been trained properly to do this with you. We would all be pleased if you conceived a new heir on this night," Dinani said.
Ayiz'e finished oiling his nutsack and the front of his legs and feet.
"He is heavy with seed. We can expect plenty of blessings in the king's future," she said.
Dinani smiled.
"This is good to hear. It has been a long time since the royal family has had a bounty of children. Bast will be pleased with our king. We shall take our leave now until we see you at the wedding temple," Dinani said.
They left the suite and an attendant brought his early morning breakfast. Pork medallions, porridge sweetened with sugared red berries, buttery biscuits and slices of fresh fruit. He ate his meal alone on the balcony, calming his mind and the wedding jitters. The eagerness to be married right away already overwhelmed him. He wished they could skip all the ceremonial work, but the new marriage had to follow ancient Udaku customs.
Belly full and mind straight, he relaxed in bed for a short respite until it was time to dress. His wedding robes were brought to him and his personal stylist helped him dress. Ayiz'e returned to twist his locs into an elaborate bun with a few strands left to fall on his shoulders. She checked the wedding clothing front to back. His black opal ceremonial robes were blacker than an inky sky at midnight, but as he moved, the robes refracted an array of colors in blue, green, and silvery gray hues that looked like tiny galaxies bursting light in deep dark space.
"He is ready," she said.
Once more, she smudged him with a different bundle of dried plants that smelled spicy and sharp in the nose. It fit his personality. He sniffed it as she passed around him.
"You recognize it?"
He shook his head.
"Bast Root. It is the plant that we used for ceremonies before vibranium fell from the sky. This plant cradled the vibranium meteor when it landed. Bast led King Bashenga to it, and soon after, a patch of it mutated into the heart-shaped herb that we cultivate today. This original plant links us to our past because the Panther Goddess led us into our future. Smudging with it calls Bast and her sisters down to be with you on this day."
"I understand," he said.
Ayiz'e left his side and he stared at himself in the mirror.
"You truly are a king."
N'Jadaka turned his head and Dante walked forward.
"Your parents are with you…they can see how handsome you look, JaJa."
"I feel them."
"They came to me in a dream last night. All I could do was tell them how excited I was to watch you marry Yani, and they looked pleased. I woke up before I could remember what they said, but I'm sure it was something like 'We love you, son.' Their faces were so shiny…so close to me that I could touch them."
Dante touched N'Jadaka's shoulder and admired his wedding garb.
"Are the guys ready?" N'Jadaka asked.
"Waiting for you at the carport. Yani and the children have already left for the temple."
He took a deep breath and checked his clothing again. Dante tapped his arm.
"Come…let's go get your wife," Dante said.
N'Jadaka walked with his grandfather out of the suite. Four Dora Milaje and six kingsguards awaited him outside. They rode a private elevator down to an underground carport where his groomsmen stood near their vehicle transports wearing custom obsidian Wakandan suits that complimented N'Jadaka's robes.
"You look clean man!" Shawn said, giving N'Jadaka dap.
"Damn, I feel like royalty too," Walter said, showing off his outfit.
Tahir wore a custom suit that incorporated his cultural heritage into the design. Mpilo grinned from ear to ear in his own attire. Bibi shook N'Jadaka's hand and congratulated him on his day.
His older cousin, Junie paraded around in his suit.
"I think I ate too much last night," Junie said, patting his stomach.
"I think that fat has always been there," Bibi joked, poking Junie's round belly.
His cousin Nevaeh hugged him. She wore a long overcoat over her covered dress and would walk as his groomswoman carrying flowers to represent Marisol's missing presence. Yani's cousin Kendall was doing the same as a bridesman filling in the gap of missing family from the Galiber side. He would escort Nevaeh down the aisle.
"How are you feeling, JaJa?" Nevaeh asked.
"The nerves are kicking in a little bit, I'm not gonna lie," he said.
She kissed his cheek and wiped away the smudge of her lipstick.
"Are you ready to leave, kumkani?" a driver asked.
"Let's rock and roll," N'Jadaka said.
They split into three cars and N'Jadaka sat next to Dante.
The streets of Wakanda were jam packed with spectators who had lined up on every avenue and street corner waiting to catch sight of the royal family. Every inch of the city looked decorated and the festive energy of the citizens forced grins on all their faces in the cars. The wedding was the celebration the country needed after a tumultuous year adjusting to life removed from the Infinity War.
He watched people dance and throw flowers at the cars as they were whisked to the heart of the golden city where the temple waited. Traffic clogged up two blocks before they arrived at their destination, and they waited patiently for the kingsguards and the royal onyx squad to make way for their cars to get through.
They crossed through the gauntlet ten minutes late, but N'Jadaka didn't care about time. He stayed in the present moment, feeling all the feelings, letting the fervor of the crowd wash through him.
The ancient temple loomed in front of them. The last time they had been there was to reunite with his parents, but that sadness didn't linger over the ancient site. It beckoned to him with an ethereal beauty and gave him the gift of peace in his heart. His parents were there waiting to watch him wed. Their spirits hovered all around him.
Their vehicles were ushered into a covered parking structure on the west side of the temple entrance where his clan and extended family convened. Umama, Ramonda, and an army of other Udaku relatives stood waiting for him and his groomsmen.
"You look amazing Umama. You too, Ramonda," he said.
He hugged as many relatives as he could before a wedding director arrived and pulled him away from Soliel, Aujannue and Serah to give final instructions. Nevaeh's mother Rolita straightened the locs that tangled on his shoulders from all the hugging. The family drummers stood nearby waiting for their cue, and the family griot, his cousin Didah, walked in front of everyone carrying a centuries old staff that was carved with family sigils of protection. She touched the top of her forehead and took a deep breath before approaching N'Jadaka. He could feel the rising energy of his family behind him.
"Cousin N'Jadaka, the temple is packed. Your grandmother has permitted some people to stand in the back, so when we go in, please keep yourself in the center behind me at all times until we reach the front. The acting griot for the Galiber clan will come in right when the last of our family has been seated."
N'Jadaka nodded. He heard Didah's words, but his body sensed the anticipation inside the temple. Somewhere on the otherside of the structure, Yani was waiting for him. His heart thudded in his chest and his hands went clammy. Umama lifted his chin with her hand.
"Breathe, grandson…that's it. Relax and breathe."
Tunnel vision and anxiety ran through him. The overstimulation forced him to gulp in air. Serah clasped his hand and his Uncle Addae slipped next to him and gripped his elbow to steady him. N'Jadaka was about to ask for a chair to sit in, but a comforting warmth spilled down from the crown of his head and flowed to his feet. He closed his eyes. Her familiar scent came down on him the way it did when he used to cook in her kitchen when he was a little boy. Florida water.
Nana Jean.
"I'm glad you're here too," he whispered under his breath.
He knew his great-grandmother always stayed with him, but the scent of her protective potions surrounded him…grounded him. Standing tall, he shook his hands and prepared to swagger down the aisle so the world could see a king claiming his queen.
Didah gave him the biggest smile that rivaled the sun shining above them. She tilted her head back and burst into the first stanza of their family history and the drummers matched her strong voice as they pounded out the backing rythmn. His groomsmen and groomswoman were led away to join Yani's bridesmaids and bridesman to prepare for their entrance.
"I feel you all in me," N'Jadaka said out loud to his ancestors.
He held onto Dante's and Umama's hands and followed Didah out of the covered structure. The drummers controlled the pace of their trek around the temple and once they entered, N'Jadaka focused his eyes on Dinani the priest who waited for them at the front.
The temple overflowed with guests and their excited energy pushed against the king, adding an extra layer of sensory overload he tried to control. He was happy, so very happy, and every inch down the aisle heightened the experience. The piercing pride in Didah's voice carried him along as she sang out the story of the Udaku family leading the country for generations. Each time she named a queen or king, N'Jadaka felt their movement in his core as if they each tapped his soul to let him know they were walking beside him. He laughed out loud when Queen Shuriya's name was uttered. His greatest grandmother tickled the back of his neck and a vision of her clouded his eyes before the next name was called. His family gave a call and response with the drummers as they circled the temple allowing all the spectators to see the great King N'Jadaka in all his royal splendor. They made their way back up the aisle as his father's and mother's names were uttered. Umama let out a ululation that rippled through the family and N'Jadaka's knees almost buckled hearing the pain that was still in his grandmother's throat.
He closed his eyes when he felt a kiss from his mother on his temple and another kiss from his father on his forehead. He wiped his eyes and guided his elder relatives to their seats on a dais behind the priest. The rest of his family filled in the reserved seats in front of their guests.
N'Jadaka looked across the rows of guests and acknowledged the nearly nine hundred non-Udaku family members facing him. Sunlight filtered through the temple and illuminated the majestic indoor trees that created the canopy roof, their wide-sweeping branches intertwined with the solid pillars and Goddess statues making the atmosphere look surreal and holy. Didah and the drummers concluded their family song by highlighting N'Jadaka's bravery in protecting the people, and he danced entertaining the crowd. A few elderly Udaku aunts and uncles stood up and encouraged him to show out and he granted them a show. Umama and Dante hooted and hollered for him too. A bold drummer jumped in front of the king and pounded an extra rhythm for his feet and shoulders and he allowed his limbs to cut loose. The unseen Galiber clan called out his name loudly from the back announcing their entrance, and he ended his dancing by bowing to his grandparents. A riotous applause cascaded from the foreign guests in the audience.
Didah took her place behind him on the dais waiting for Yani's family griot to orate about her family.
The sound of clashing blades echoed from the far side of the temple. N'Jadaka waited with great anticipation. Kendall, and about fifteen of Yani's adult family members carried shiny cutlass blades and lit torches. They didn't use drums for a percussive sound, but sang acapella about Queen Mary, their history of enslavement and liberation using the acoustics of the ancient temple to echo the beauty of their combined voices. Leona walked among them lending her voice with her head held high wearing a strapless puffy champagne-colored gown decorated with tiny cutlass blades. Her salt and pepper hair was carefully decorated with Ginger Thomas flowers the official island flower from their home. Several young children and teenagers from their family followed along clapping to the beat and gazing at the wondrous beauty of the ancient temple.
Although Yani's family was small in number representing their clan in comparison to N'Jadaka's, they kept the guests spellbound listening to the story of their island roots and their connection to Africa through the diaspora. After singing the folk song of Queen Mary, Kendall took over the oral history and sang/rapped about their family. The other relatives stomped their feet and clapped their hands with percussive beats supporting his playful delivery of Caribbean history. The Galiber clan circled past N'Jadaka, and Kendall helped Leona join N'Jadaka's grandparents on the dais with four other elder cousins from her family. N'Jadaka moved over to them and gave them hugs and kisses before quickly taking his position back in front.
Kendall stood before Didah and the two of them had a playful back and forth of singing. Didah challenged Kendall to tell the world why Yani was the best woman for N'Jadaka and the young man waved his blade around and pointed the torch at the king. The fire was close enough to heat N'Jadaka's cheeks.
Didah held a long singing note and studied N'Jadaka's face.
"Is this woman for you, kumkani?" Didah asked.
"Bring her to me," he replied and the Udaki family laughed and clapped because he was supposed to simply say "Yes."
Didah's smile swelled his heart and she turned her attention back to Kendall.
"The king has spoken," Didah said.
Kendall grinned and attendants took away all the torches and cutlass weapons. The Wakandan drummers pounded away giving Kendall time to ceremonially return to the bride-to-be letting her know she was called forth. The sweet orchestral sounds of Wakandan strings, flutes, and violins mixed with the beautiful vocals of his paternal grand aunt serenading the strides of Twyla and Bibi. Twyla was already bawling as she clutched her husband's arm and the bouquet of flowers. Yani had all of her bridesmaids wear custom-made, iridescent mother-of-pearl dresses that each woman was allowed to choose in their personal style. Twyla's garment was a one shoulder wrap dress with a high slit on the left side. Her shoulder-length locs were also heavily decorated with island flowers. She clutched Bibi's arm tight while sniffling toward him. They stood on either side of N'Jadaka and he bent over and kissed Twyla's cheek, wiping her tears away.
"I'm sorry..I'm sorry…" Twyla whispered.
N'Jadaka laughed at her and she gathered herself together.
Zola and Ilana walked down with Tahir and Mpilo wearing elaborate crisscross halter neck gowns. The slits in their dresses were more modest, but their elaborate braided hair-dos showed flair and sassiness in their style. Mpilo looked terrified of messing up his walk down the aisle with Ilana, but he relaxed more when the king smiled at him. The heavenly music elevated the feelings in the temple and N'Jadaka touched his chest hoping it wouldn't explode before Yani appeared.
Anika and Dawnette made the long walk down the aisle with Walter and Shawn. Their dresses were a matching ruched style with sequins at the top and satiny overskirts that reminded N'Jadaka of mermaids. They crafted thick twists in their hair and wore their hair flowers tucked at their left temples like Billie Holiday.
Junie escorted Shuri who stunned everyone with her make-up and hair. She had fluffed out her hair into a perfectly coiffed 'fro where flowers were strategically placed to look like they grew from her scalp like a giant ebony bouquet. Her dress had a plunging neck with split sleeves that showed skin powdered with sparkly dust that twinkled like stars on her rich brown skin. As she passed the front row, she gave a nod to Nakia who held a sleeping Toussaint on her lap. Shuri gave a sly smirk to N'Jadaka knowing he was peeping all the extra make-up she never wore in her regular life. His young cousin looked stunning and his older cousin Junie looked proud to escort her in front of the Udaku clan.
Kendall strolled out with Nevaeh whose custom dress shared her Native heritage with Yurok detailing of abalone shells and stringed shell beads that dangled around her waist like a fancy apron that jingled as she walked. She wore a long braid threaded with flowers all the way to the small of her back. When she separated from Kenny she blew a kiss to N'Jadaka and showed him the extra bouquet of flowers she held for Marisol and Disa.
The music changed into a melody that transfixed the entire temple gathering. A young woman sang like an angel with a choral ensemble backing her up high above them. N'Jadaka lifted his gaze to a balcony above the temple entrance where the angelic voices rained down on them like holy blessings. He now understood why Umama insisted that the wedding take place in the late afternoon. The placement of the sun in the sky had its sunrays directed into the temple by the architecture where it created a natural spot light for his children coming down the aisle next.
The entire congregation stood up when Joba appeared, flower crowned with her thick wavy hair shiny with ringlet curls all down to her back. She held a basket of flowers and threw them in front of herself as she slowly walked in the procession. N'Jadaka heard the oohs and ahhs of their guests. The sun made Joba's skin a deep mahogany brown like her mother's and he beckoned for her to keep walking to him so he could hug her. Although her walk was out of order for an American custom, the Wakandans deemed it appropriate for the youngest child in the bridal party to herald the coming of the new wife with flowers and acceptance from the priest.
Joba reached the front and her eyes took in the ancient wisdom of Dinani who presided over the ceremony. Dinani gestured for Joba to come forward and the little girl paused, staring up at the expectant priest. Twyla waved for Joba to come to her side, but Dinani stepped forward and held Joba's hand. Something sacred transpired between the priest and his child. Dinani glanced at N'Jadaka and smiled. Whatever it was made the priest happy. N'Jadaka reached for Joba's hand and pulled her in front of him. He kissed the top of her head and the sweet show of affection made a few guests wave their hands in approval.
Sydette, his ring bearer, stepped lively carrying a satin pillow in her right hand that held the wedding rings. Her left hand kept a tight grip on a red satin binding rope that she would tie around her parent's wrists as part of the wedding ceremony.
His eldest child's hair carried buoyant curls that almost looked bigger than Shuri's 'fro with a braided Mohawk style. A few flowers were tucked into the intricate braiding pattern along her scalp accentuating the fullness of her curls, and her face glowed as she kept her eyes on her Baba watching her steps. Sunlight dappled across her hair and face as she drew closer to him. Her dress matched Joba's, silvery white and princess-styled to fit her age.
"Hey Sweet Pea," he said.
She fixed her lightly pink-glossed lips into a big smile for him showing big dimples like him, and took her place by his side next to Joba. He bent down and gave her a kiss on her nose and she giggled, patting his cheek with the hand carrying the marriage tie. She glanced at her sister and Joba giggled making Sydette giggle more.
"Wait until you see Mama," Sydette said to him.
N'Jadaka straightened right back up and waited for Yani to appear. Before she stepped into the temple, he heard her voice singing the words that were meant for him in that little St. Thomas club so long ago.
"Can't do without you for sure
Amount a place I and I explore
Still nuh find nobody else I adore
Them can't stop we, yeah
Yuh love a sumn wah mi have to protect
You are my balance and my ease to mi stress
Your vibration never fail me yet
Wull on pon me, yea…"*
N'Jadaka had been unaware that Yani was going to sing during their ceremony. Their rehearsal had been calculated from start to finish and at no time was he made aware of his bride serenading him. His ears caught the lead singer of the choral ensemble vocalizing the exact same English words into Wakandan, lending her vocals after Yani finished.
Like it had been in the past, he was mesmerized by Yani's voice before she even stepped into his sight.
Riki held his mother's hand and led her into the temple. His royal robes were an exact replica of his father's. His hair was fluffed out into the big sandy-red sunburst of his grandmother Califia. Yani wanted her son, the first child born to N'Jadaka, to give her away for the ceremony.
N'Jadaka's lips trembled as he watched the beaming face of his gorgeous bride walking toward him in all her glory. Yani's silvery-white dress sparkled in the light of the sun rays that struck the shimmery iridescence in all the right places. Form-fitting, a hood covered her head that fell back into a luxurious train, accentuating the roundness of her beautiful face and big tranquil eyes.
His heart stopped.
N'Jadaka gasped and Joba patted his wrist keeping his spirit from flying out of the room. He held out his hands, palms up, willing his radiant bride to come to him with all his might. Riki took his time setting Yani's pace. The boy wanted to show off his mother. The Wakandan choir sang over their bridal march with a hymnal that brought tears to N'Jadaka's eyes. Yani transported him.
He stood nude in warm liquid inside a Caribbean sea as a young mouthy woman fussed at him to get out of her waters. Surly eyes from the past challenged him to show his true self in a hectic kitchen on a compound until he clawed his way back to humanity and fell in love with his future queen. Yani beckoned him into the ocean of her love for all time. Was there no better proof of higher powers protecting him than that divine encounter with her?
Nothing prepared him fully to witness a vision coming toward him that made his whole body quake. He gasped for breath. Joba squeezed his hand.
"Its okay, Baba. Umi Yani is coming," Joba said.
Riki stopped halfway to the priest and puffed up his chest.
"Baba, come get Mama!" Riki shouted.
The congregation erupted into cacophonous laughter. Like his father, Riki eschewed tradition and said what needed to be said. Sydette pushed N'Jadaka forward and he took eager strides toward Yani. He was supposed to sing the royal wedding song that grooms shared with the bride, but he spoke them instead. The Wakandan words slowed down his steps and he approached Yani full-throated and proud:
"Come when the nights are bright with stars Or when the moon is mellow; Come when the sun his golden bars Drops on the hay-field yellow. Come in the twilight soft and gray, Come in the night or come in the day, Come, O love, whene'er you may, And you are welcome, welcome.
You are sweet, O Love, dear Love, You are soft as the nesting dove. Come to my heart and bring it rest As the bird flies home to its welcome nest.
Come when my heart is full of grief Or when my heart is merry, Come with the falling of the leaf Or with the redd'ning cherry. Come when the year's first blossom blows, Come when the summer gleams and glows, Come with the winter's drifting snows, And you are welcome, welcome…"**
He smiled, happy that he was able to remember every word and say them with enough eloquence in flawless Wakandan. Pausing for a moment to look over her stunning appearance, he relished the sight they created standing in the center of the temple with the warmth of the sun caressing them.
"Will you walk with me Yani Galiber?" he asked.
Yani kept her eyes locked onto his face. She fought to keep any tears from welling up, but the shimmer on her lower lids lost the battle. He never wanted to see her cry, but he made an exception for that day. Riki nudged her hip with an impatient hand. She cradled her son's chin and spoke to him softly.
"Should we?" Yani asked Riki.
A saucy grin curled Riki's lips and he nodded enthustiastically.
"I will walk with you King N'Jadaka Udaku," she said.
"Say that one mo' 'gin," N'Jadaka teased, cupping a hand to his ear.
Yani laughed and obliged him, her voice as soft and magical as it had been the first time he heard it.
"I will walk with you forever King N'Jadaka Udaku…my Golden Jaguar."
"Aye!" he shouted while offering her his arm. She held onto him with a firm grip and he clasped Riki's hand, escorting them both to Dinani.
Tumblr media
Yani held tight to Riki's hand while the adult bridesmaids and groomsmen walked into the temple stepping in time to the exalted music playing for them. Several women priests had smudged her and the children with aromatic plants and oils before they left the palace and once again, a young female priest circled Yani and the children with a gold incense burner trailing a spiraling cloud of purple smoke that clung to their wedding garments and hair. The sweet odor calmed her mind and settled the children who were ready to gallop through the temple to reach their father.
Sydette hugged her waist.
"You look beautiful Mama," Sydette said.
"Thank you Sweet Pea. You all look beautiful, too."
Yani touched Sydette's hair then caressed Joba's cheek.
"I wish they'd hurry up," Riki lamented, swinging Yani's hand.
"They have to take their time walking down the aisle, silly. Everything is being filmed for the country and it's a big deal. If they walked fast they'd miss all the pretty clothes and how good we all look," Sydette said.
Riki and Sydette spoke quietly and Yani honed in on Joba's silence. She had been chatty and playful earlier that morning when everyone rushed around bathing in sacred oils and herbs with the female priests overseeing their preparations. But once they'd eaten a full breakfast, dressed, and left the palace, she'd quieted down.
Yani knelt before her youngest child and clasped her hands.
"How are you feeling, Sunshine? Nervous?"
Joba nodded. Sydette wrapped big sister arms around her.
"You'll make Baba proud when you lead us out…okay? We practiced and practiced and you will make the path for Mama pretty. I will be right behind you," Sydette said.
Joba clutched her basket of flowers and nodded. She tilted her head to look at Yani.
"What if I drop the basket or walk too fast?" Joba said.
Relief spilled over Yani hearing her speak again.
"All you have to do is listen to the music. It's like the metronome in Umama's suite. The beat sets the pace. If you think you're walking too fast, check the music cues. You are going to be a wonderful flower girl."
Yani hugged her and Joba leaned into the embrace. She kissed Yani's cheek and all was well again.
"It's time Princess Joba."
The lead wedding director smiled at the little girl and held a hand out to guide her into position at the temple entrance. Riki ran forward and hugged Joba. He whispered something in her ear and his sister broke out into another bright smile.
"You got this," Riki said out loud.
The director glanced at Yani.
"Everyone is standing up…here we go," the director said.
Joba took a deep breath and marched in time to the harmonious music.
"I'm next! I'm next!" Sydette squealed, twirling in a circle holding the wedding rings and sacred red tie.
Sydette peeked around the wedding director.
"Oh Mama! Baba looks so handsome," Sydette said.
Yani's heart and stomach fluttered. The anticipation of seeing him engulfed all of her nerve endings. They all heard collective oohs and ahhs and a smattering of applause. She wondered what happened to make the congregation applaud. Luckily, she would be able to watch the entire ceremony at a later time. The ceremony was broadcast live and recorded from start to finish. Palace recorders filmed everything the moment they stepped foot outside the palace for candid shots to later be edited into a royal wedding documentary.
"Princess Sydette, you are next please."
The director held out a hand and waved it, summoning the girl. Sydette blew Yani a kiss and marched out like a diva.
"Here you go, Princess Yani."
Another wedding coordinator handed her a mic. Yani waited for her music cue to tap it on. The peaceful strumming of harps alerted her, and she sang out all that she felt to N'Jadaka. She wondered what his facial expression looked like hearing her voice singing that particular song. Riki squeezed her hand in support and for a moment, holding her son's hand and singing to his father brought back all the connections they had in St. Thomas. Emotion spilled through her voice as she conveyed to the king how much he meant to her.
As the voice of the Wakandan choral member sang the song in their language with a different musical arrangement that transformed into the Wakandan wedding march, Yani held tight to her bridal bouquet and let her son lead them into the temple.
Grateful to have her son's hand for support, Yani took in the hundreds of faces that watched her march toward her destiny. Her brain tried to connect with individual eyes upon her. That proved useless once she zeroed in on N'Jadaka waiting for her at the far end.
God…he was more than handsome.
She lost her footing for a second and Riki helped her find her steps again.
It all came down to this moment.
Yani drifted away into a time when she was a lost woman-child trying to make a way out of no way on a small island. How many nights had she prayed for a better life for herself and Sydette? Given up on herself? How many days had she cried and chastised herself for choosing love with Chez who treated her so poorly and abandoned Sweet Pea? Yani had felt so alone and lost to a pre-destined fate that befell too many young women with big hearts and limited resources or support. Thank God Auntie was there for her. Thank all the angels too that her auntie liked Killmonger so much that she didn't run interference keeping them apart. There were too many tangible things that should have prevented Yani from ever meeting the foreign mercenary.
But look at God.
Her eyes watered and she looked away to control her blurry vision. No tears fell and she was able to concentrate on her delicate steps to reach the king.
Riki halted their march and shouted for his father to get her. The audience laughed and Yani chuckled herself. His declaration was not a part of the ceremony. She lifted her bridal bouquet to her lips to hide her open-mouthed laughter when Riki sucked his teeth sounding like an annoyed Auntie back home.
Her laughter fell away once N'Jadaka came down the aisle to claim her at his son's demand. She heard a few gasps from women around her who also felt that energy coming toward her. He spoke forceful words of love instead of singing them to her. The switch up made the evocative words more powerful and she felt every utterance in her bones, marrow deep. When he finally reached her, she could barely see his face. Her eyes had become a river threatening to spill down her face.
"Will you walk with me Yani Galiber?" N'Jadaka asked.
His voice was full of pride and so much love for her. The scent of oils on his skin and the smudging on his clothes smelled heavenly. She lost the ability to speak taking all of his spirit in. Riki balled up a small fist and pressed it into her hip. Yani lifted his chin and stared into Riki's shiny eyes.
"Should we?" Yani asked her son.
Those little Udaku lips on his face swept up into a knowing smile and Riki nodded like she was foolish to even ask the question. She looked at her great love again.
"I will walk with you King N'Jadaka Udaku," she said.
"Say that one mo' 'gin!"
N'Jadaka had cupped his ear and she knew in her soul he did that purely to show off for the nobles who questioned her place in his life.
"I will walk with you forever King N'Jadaka Udaku…my Golden Jaguar."
"Aye!"
Yani gripped his arm and he held Riki's hand, escorting them all to the priest waiting for them. Her bridesmaids and bridesgroom were in various stages of watery eyes, crying, and beaming love to her. She handed her bouquet to Twyla and her cousin gushed over her with a weepy voice.
Facing N'Jadaka, Yani watched the priest give Sydette instructions. She handed the wedding rings to her brother and a footstool was placed in front of her so she could easily bind her mother and father together. Dinani spoke ancient words as Sydette tied the satin binding rope around N'Jadaka's wrist first. She left about two feet of rope in between them before she tied the other end on Yani's wrist. Her task complete, Sweet Pea kissed both their wrists and returned to stand next to Joba.
Yani listened to the Wakandan words spoken by the priest, but her eyes stayed on N'Jadaka's face the entire time. His soulful eyes drank in every inch of her. It seemed like they were the only two there, but with the guests, plus the entire Udaku clan in attendance, over one thousand people witnessed their union and she blotted them all out.
Dinani spoke of their expected duties toward one another. Her ears glossed over all of those expectations and only tuned back in when the long ceremony moved into the portion where she was told the qualities of a virtuous queen.
Holy scripture was read by Ayiz'e who wore the sacred red robes of the mountain temple of Bast. A male priest presented Dinani with more sacred oils and they anointed Yani and N'Jadaka. The qualities of a virtuous king were recited to N'Jadaka. An older female priest blessed their children who stood there, and also blessed the children they would have in the future.
Umama stepped forward from her place on the dais holding Yani's queen isicholo. Dinani prayed over the crown and anointed it with holy Bast oils before N'Jadaka pulled back the hood on Yani's wedding dress revealing her platinum hair. Umama's voice was loud and strong.
"We of the Udaku clan accept Yani Galiber into this holy union. She is our welcomed daughter…our new queen…Queen Yani N'Isiqithi the First."
The women of the entire Udaku clan broke out into heartfelt ululations that echoed throughout the temple. Yani bowed her head slightly and Umama placed the queen's isicholo on her head.
"Stay blessed Queen Yani, may your reign make us all proud and may your greatest grandmother Queen Mary guide your hand in all that you do," Umama said.
Yani stood still and accepted the ululations, the shouts, the applause, the jealousy, the envy, the hatred, the admiration, the love, the curiosity, and the fear her queendom brought to Wakanda. She straightened her posture and let the weight of the crown sink into soul.
Queen Yani.
Heavy was the head that wore the crown, but not so much with N'Jadaka by her side. He held her hand up and they turned around to face the congregation. Dinani raised their arms and spoke with a firm tone in their voice.
"May I present to you all here, the royal heads of the nation, King N'Jadaka and Queen Yani Udaku, avatars of the Golden Jaguar…children of the Black Pather Tribe."
Everyone in the temple stood, including the relatives on the dais. The Council of Elders came forth from the audience and circled Yani and N'Jadaka. They held hands and recited an oath promising them both wise council in the days ahead. Stepping aside afterward, Yani and her new husband were able to acknowledge the crowd amidst their applause.
"You may now kiss your bride, kumkani," Dinani said.
N'Jadaka's lips were on hers before the priest finished giving permission, almost knocking her crown off. He kissed her within an inch of her life and backed away when she almost went limp.
"Hey queen," he said.
"Hey king," she answered.
Yani checked on their children and all three had glossy eyes admiring her new isicholo. N'Jadaka threaded his fingers with hers and boldly showed her off. To close the ceremony, they had to circle the inside of the temple as newlyweds counterclockwise. The isicholo settled nicely on her head, and Yani willfully entered her new era as ruler. She relaxed into N'Jadaka's strides and pranced about, letting her beauty and new status burn her enemies down to charcoal.
N'Jadaka kept stopping to kiss her hand and the red satin binding tie dangled between them letting everyone know they would never part. She reveled in the power, soaked it up and let it propel her around the temple with a fierce protective energy.
Back at the front again, N'Jadaka kissed her chasrely, with pecks to her lips and both cheeks. She bent down to hug and kiss their children just as the closing wedding march started. Dinani gave their final blessing and the Udaku family drummers showed out again, leading the march out of the temple. Didah sang a new griot song prophesying the reign of Yani and N'Jadaka.
"Ready to face the rest of the world?" N'Jadaka asked.
"I am," Yani said.
They held hands tight and strolled down the aisle together, exiting the ancient temple as husband and wife.

"Jay, betta yuh did put seh yuh waan ah fiftee percent fih yuh royalties dem." (Better you did put that you want fifty percent of your royalties) Dom ran his fingers over his face, you'd both been in his living room going over the proposed contract N'Jadaka's assistant had sent.
"Mi know weh mi ah do. If mi tek a bigga cut dem nah guh waan me fih own mi masters dem." (I know what I am doing, If I take a bigger cut they won't want me to own my masters) You respond.
"Jah, yuh really ah guh tek twenty five percent fih now doh?" (You're really going to take twenty five percent for now though?) Dom hisses his teeth and you shake your head.
"Yes, Domingo." You roll your eyes, sighing in frustration. He couldn't see the bigger picture. If I owned my masters, later on I could sell my catalog for way more. "Mi haav mi yiy dem pon eh goal. Mi know weh mi ah guh do." (I have my eyes on the goal, I know what I'm going to do.)
"Wah bout yer name and merch rights?" (What about your name and merch rights) He asks, raising a brow. "It seh dem waan gi yuh twenty percent wah di rassclaat kinda deal is dat?" (It says they want to give you twenty percent what the fuck kind of deal is that?)
"I'd own my name, and be able to get 40% of the tour profits." You explain. Owning your masters and your name was the way to make money. You could get brand deals that were 100% all yours by owning your name and as far as your master's, you could sell your catalog to the highest bidder later on.
"Ah. Is yer money, mi nah guh three meds it." (It's your money, I'm not going to stress about it.) He says, handing you back your iPad.
You finished all your adjustments before sending the email back. You'd spent the two days given to read over every fine print before adding that You'd own your masters and name. You were smart, your grandma raised you. She taught you about looking out for yourself and your little brother. She'd taught you about hoe ruthless and wicked people could be over money.
You'd come from nothing and did everything you could to ensure you never were in that position again financially. You still had a long way to go before you were happy with your finances but for now you were comfortable.
"Mi ah come guh mi yaad." (I'm going to my house) You say, hugging Dom before grabbing your stuff and heading out.

"The sound already has 15,000 videos under it." Shuri says, as you gather your things. You'd just signed to their label, after they'd agreed with your terms for the contract.

"Yuh see di amount ah celebrities inna yer comments?" (You see the amount of celebrities in your comments) Azura laughs, as you both ate fried chicken with rice and oxtail gravy.
"I know." You feel your face heat up as you shovel rice into your mouth.
"Wah Maya ah duh inna yer comments? Unnuh neva agree fi nuh comment, like or follow one anudda?" (What's Maya doing in your comments, Haven't Ya'll agreed to not comment, like or follow each other?)
"Yah ask mi? Mi nuh see nor hear from di gyal since Saturday mawning." (You're asking me? I haven't seen or heard from the girl since Saturday morning) You shrugged.
"Da gyal deh sick mi fucking tomach, mi nuh know why yuh ah pree har. She all fi har self." (That girl there sicks my fucking stomach, I don't know why you take her serious. She's all for herself.) Azura kissed her teeth as she drank her sorrel.
"Zur, mi like har. She haav sum bad ways but she's a good person." (I like her. She has some bad ways but she's a good person.) You defend her.
"Tan deh mek har tun yuh inna yamhead. Yuh coming like jelly back. Da gyal deh naav nun bout har. She don't waan yuh win, look how she did diss yuh and yuh let it go." (Stand there and make her turn you into a fool. You're weak. That girl don't have anything about her. 'worthless') Azura declares and you shake your head.
"Not too much on my girl." You cut your eyes at her and she laughs.
"Tan deh wid di likkle badmind gyal." (Stand there with the little jealous girl) Azura sticks her tongue out and you roll your eyes.
"Gweh!" (Move) You joke.
"Nyam mi front and gweh." (Eat my pussy and go away) Azura retorts, rolling her eyes and you laugh.
"Been there, done that." You wink.
A knock on your door, has you up and headed for the door. There's only three people that can come up without the front desk alerting you. One of which is here and the other was out of town. Your face set into a scowl and your nose wrinkled as you opened the door to see Maya.
"What?" You say, looking her up and down in annoyance.
"Baby, I'm sorry." Maya says and you sigh.
"Is this going to be a reoccurring thing? You being in your feelings because I'm pursuing music?" You ask. She'd walked out on Saturday upset when you told her you planned on signing onto Udaku Records. She'd tried to convince you to sign onto her label despite you having told her before it would never happen.
"It's not about the music, Jay..." Maya muttered. "I don't like Rina and it's not just about her dissing my album. She wants you, I saw how she looked at you that night at the club. Hell look at what she and that skinny giraffe are saying in your comments."
Did she really just call Shuri a giraffe? Dis girl...
"Maya, you've got to get over that. People are always going to want me. You think I don't deal with this shit with your label mates and the industry community dicks that are always aimed at you?" You hissed your teeth. "You can either choose to accept the fact that I'm yours and deal with whatever comes or we're going to have to just call it quits from now."
"You'd break up with me?" She whispers, her eyes wide and tears already starting to leak.
"Yes. I wouldn't want to but it's not fair what you're doing, you're punishing me for other people's actions. You were pissed when you hadn't heard from me Friday night but you've ignored me since Saturday morning. That's a double standard that I will not put up with." You insisted, crossing your arms as she cried. You wanted to hold her and wipe her tears away but she couldn't treat you like this and think sorry and some tears would fix things.
"Ok, I understand. I'm sorry for ignoring you and for punishing you." Maya croaked out, her voice low. You nodded.
"I forgive you." You assure her but when she moves to step forward you place your hand on her chest. "You ignored me for 2 days, now it's my turn. Talk to you Wednesday evening."
Her mouth dropped open as you closed the door in her face laughing, you always gave in to her when she acted like a spoiled brat but this time you wouldn't. She needed to tighten up and give you the same energy you gave her when it came to her career, the spotlight and the many people lusting after her.
"Yes goodie... yuh gag har backside." (Yes, beautiful. You gagged her ass) Azura was dying with laughter.
"Yuh seeh yuh..." (You see you) You shook your head before climbing back on the couch to finish your food.

"Hi, Twinkle. It's so good to meet you! I've been obsessed with your song." Nessa says, and you smile at her.
"Thank you for having me." You say.
"So, everyone's dying to know. Who was Which Gyal meant for?" Nessa asks, and you laugh as she butchered the words in a fake patois accent.
"Just a likkle song fi any gyal weh haav mi name inna har mouth. Mi nuh inna di chattings wid people pickney so mi mek eh song fi any gyal weh waan trouble mi or has troubled mi." (Just a little song for any girl that has my name in her mouth. I'm not into the talking with people's kids, so I made the song for any girl who wants to trouble me or has troubled me.) You see she looks lost so you say everything again in english.
"You have a beautiful accent." Nessa compliments and you thank her. "You recently signed on to Udaku Records and have been teasing a song. Idg1f. Can you tell us what inspired the song?"
"Well I had the lyrics in my head and a little melody. I've had so many people come at me crazy because I was in a very public relationship almost 2 years ago. I've said before and I'll stand on it, I love money and anyone who wants to give me money can definitely do it. I'm a pretty girl, I know what I deserve and that's how I've made a living just being pretty." You explained and Nessa raised a brow.
"You were with Chris Brown, no?" Nessa asks coyly, and you roll your eyes playfully.
"Yes, I was. However he's irrelevant now." You reply with a shrug.
"Many people speculated Which Gyal was about Ri, are you and Rihanna cool now?" Nessa asks and I shake my head.
"I barely know her personally. We never had any problems, so I don't know where that narrative came from." You answer, honestly. "I love her, she's so creative and multifaceted. There's nothing but respect for her."
"We all saw Drake and Chris in your comments. How do you feel about that?" Nessa questions.
"No disrespect to Drake but he's too corny for me personally. I can't get with his antics and as far as Chris, well he knows what's up. That's it." You lick your lips.
"Rihanna was also in your comments, giving you a stamp of approval." Nessa continues. "What do you think of that?"
"As I said before, I have the utmost respect for Rihanna. She's an icon, I look up to her. She's paved the way for Caribbean girls and I can only hope that I make her proud." You felt conflicted because while you grew up liking Rihanna, you knew she could be very shady. She'd never spoke on you before besides saying you were a non factor when asked in an interview when you and Chris were dating.
The rest of the interview goes pretty smooth. Towards the end as Nessa's closing out her producer comes over and shows her something on his phone. Nessa looks from the phone to you before nodding at whatever the producer says. He walks off camera and Nessa looks at you again.
"So what do you have to say about Maya posting you on her social media?" Nessa inquires and you stare at her in shock .
"We're cool, so--"
On the screen in between Nessa and I on the wall is Maya's latest post and you blink as you see it.

You can't find anything to say as you stare at the screen in shock. She hadn't even discussed this with you before she went ahead and posted that. You were angry beyond words.
"Still cool?" Nessa laughs, and you narrow your eyes at her. You took a deep breath to calm yourself before releasing it.
"No. We're not cool at all." You say, taking the ear piece off and tossing it down before grabbing your bag and walking out.
-
You had finished the rest of your interviews in autopilot. Your energy was faked, you felt betrayed by Maya. This wasn't the actions of someone who cared about you, this was a calculated move that you were sure was brought on by her label and manager.
All the time spent hiding and keeping you a dirty secret just for her to out your relationship the moment you were finally getting attention on you for the right reasons was sickening. You'd never pressured her or argued when she chose to follow her label and manager's decision to keep your relationship quiet.
You were supportive and you put her career and goals first. Any other time this would have been what you wanted but right now you felt used and like a prop. You blocked her number and blocked her on all your social media's, not caring to hear what she had to say.
Over and over she'd shown time and time again you were not on the list of her priorities. You could argue away most of her bad habits and bad ways but this. There was no excusing this. You couldn't defend it because there was nothing that she could say that would make you feel even remotely ok about any of this.
Today was your photoshoot and you were numbing yourself to the hurt you felt. All the excitement dying down at things that should have been making you happy. You'd never dreamed of being in the position you were in and your joy was being stolen.

"What do you think about this, Jay?" Shuri asks as you, Riri and N'Jadaka are looking over the edits. The picture they all seemed to settle on was sexy yet cutesy. You had a huge bouquet in your arms, while posing in the gold sparkly dress Azura had helped you pick. Your tattoos were showcased in a very peekaboo way whilst the rest of your body was covered.
"It looks good." You agree, your tone giving off a 'whatever' kind of vibe.
"Alright, we'll use it as the cover to idg1f." N'Jadaka says. "It really matches the vibe of the song. Gotta give it to you Shuri, your vision is immaculate."
"It's all dependent on the artist." Shuri shrugged, looking at you with a small smile. You returned it though your smile didn't meet your eyes.
"You've been working your ass off ma." Riri agrees, looking from Shuri to you. "You've been locked in ever since the first day in the studio."
"I'm glad ya'll feel that way." You feel your cheeks warm, and you look down at your hands.
"I have a meeting but I just wanted to stop by and say that you're doing great, Jay." N'Jadaka adds, before reaching over to hug you. He dabs up Shuri and Riri before leaving.
"You hungry, Ma?" Riri inquires, she knew you weren't feeling like yourself. She and Shuri talked amongst themselves about taking you out to cheer you up.
"Afta mi belly naav nuh bottom." (After my belly has no bottom 'greedy') You laugh, before nodding.
"Alright, why don't you get changed and we'll take you out. You deserve to be celebrated. You've signed to our label, your about to release a single that millions are anticipating and you've been kept busy this whole week with promo shit." Shuri asserts, licking her lip. "Pick whatever outfit you want."

Shuri and Riri took you shopping to celebrate your newest achievements, before finally taking you to dinner. You'd had the wig taken off your head, and was wearing your hair out in a wavy silk press. Makeup free and natural, save for lipgloss and your lash extensions.
You posted the video Riri recorded of you walking, and twirling and posing to the lyrics of your song that you knew would hit Maya deep in the gut. You put the lyrics in the caption before using the hashtag single to make a statement as you had no interest in her, her label or her manager using you.
You put your phone on DND, as you ate your sushi and pasta. Throughout the dinner, the conversation was light. You all exchanged information about yourselves, favorite colors, music, artists, hobbies, goals, etc.
You found out that Shuri could play several instruments, and write her own music. The latter wasn't a shock as she had tons of writing credits. She wrote songs on the daily just by living and watching, she was beyond talented.
Riri could play the electric guitar, and was amazing at putting together beats. She could hear music in her head as she went about her day, and was always recording a melody that she had stuck in her head. You could see similarities in yourself and the both of them.
"What made you want to co-head the label?" You ask Shuri. Her family's music business venture was years old but you saw a significant change once she and N'Jadaka stepped up to be the new faces of the label.
Riri and Shuri shared a look, before Shuri looked at you. Her jaw was clenched and her body was tense. You could tell there was something there.
"Riri and I are together but at one point we had a third." Shuri explains which is no surprise to you. You figured they were together, everyone speculated but they had never confirmed. "Destiny's an artist on the label, I was only into producing when we got together but when I seen just how shitty a lot of artist's deals were, including hers... I chose to do something about it, it was shortly after my father and brother died that I pushed for N'Jadaka to head the label while I worked beside him. We worked to give our artists better deals than they'd previously had, whilst working to ensure the company was still making money."
"I worked tirelessly to give Destiny everything she wanted, because I saw how stressed she was not having creative control and being forced into the bullshit the label pushed on her. My father and T'Challa agreed that our relationship should be kept quiet as Destiny was a sex symbol and was more profitable and marketable as a single straight woman." Shuri rolls her eyes.
"After the accident, I finally had the chance to change the direction of the company to what I'd had in mind. However, I soon realized Destiny was only using Riri and I. The moment she had a better contract, she left us to be the industry mattress." Shuri laughs to herself.
"Why aren't you and Riri public now?" You ask, curious. They no longer had a reason to keep their relationship silent.
"The gag is we are. We're private not secret. We post each other, we're out and about with each other. We've just never addressed anything because we feel no need to. Everyone knows what's up with us." Riri declares, looking at you with a small smirk.
"That makes sense. Social media can be just as destructive as it is beneficial. Especially to relationships." You agreed.
"I take it you and Maya are no longer friends? " Riri raises a brow as she looks you over.
"No, we are not." You shrug, rolling your eyes at the mention of the girl. Azura was right, and you saw that clear as day.
"So, you're a free agent." Shuri watches you through hooded eyes, as she sips on her bourbon.
"Why do you want to know?" You look at her with a wide smile on your face daring her to be bold.
"Just want confirmation that you're free before we have you coming all night. Not that you being in a relationship would have stopped the pursuit." Shuri's lips turn up as she watches your body flush at her words.
"Yuh think one dinna and ah likkle shopping can lock me dung?" (You think one dinner and a little shopping can lock me down?) You giggle as you sip on your lemon water.
"Definitely not." Riri denies, as she waves over the waiter to clear the table and bring the check.
"However we all know at some point you will be on your back with your legs spread open and your mouth wide as we work your fat pussy over." Shuri says and you clench as her words heat up your core. She used patois to say 'Fat pussy' and that had you feeling hot all over.
"Mmm mmm girl." You shake your head, giggling. "Yuh haffi work fi mi tight ole." (You have to work for my tight hole.)
"So, this is what working looks like. Now it's making sense why you were so pressed to work with Rina." You see Maya approaching behind the duo and your face drops as she opens her mouth.
"What are you even...." Your words fall off as you realize she still had your location on her iPad. You unlock your phone to remove her iPad and block it before locking your phone again. "What do you want?"
"Why the fuck are you out here acting like a whore when you have a whole girlfriend?" Maya exclaims.
"Whore? My girl outta di two ah wi? who ah whore? cuz mi know seh my pussy nuh haav more den 5 bodies pon ih." (My girl, out of the two of us, who's the whore? Cause I know that my pussy has no more than five bodies on it.) You match her tone.
"Mi neva yet disrespect yuh ar mek nubodi disrespect yuh yet, so don't ever innah yer life try diss me ar mi pussy." (I have never disrespected you or let anyone disrespect you so don't ever in your life diss me or my pussy.) You hiss.
"Why are you treating me like this?" Maya starts with her bag of crying and for once you feel nothing as the tears roll down her face. She can't cry and think she'll get her way.
"You called me a whore." You kiss your teeth. "That is not the words of someone who loves me or even cares about me. You'd think with all the slut shaming you and I have both endured, that word would have never left your mouth."
"I'm sorry." Maya cried. "I didn't mean to say that, I was just angry. I love you so much, Jay. I would never purposely hurt you, you know that."
"Disrespecting me and using me as a prop for your career wasn't you hurting me?" You scoffed.
"I didn't." Maya swears and you swallow as you see the look in her eyes. "I swear to you, I did not. My manager made the post on my page, I didn't know until after it happened. I would never use you in that way, you know I wouldn't."
"Maya, I love you." You see both Shuri and Riri share a look out of the corner of your eye but you keep your eyes trained on Maya. "I love you so much that I put you and your wants over my own. I let myself down to lift you up. If I'm being honest I overlooked the shitty things you'd do or say because I was that in love with you. But love should never feel like that, at least not the love I want. You're a good person, I genuinely believe that but you just aren't good enough for me. I deserve more, I deserve better. You've said sorry just about almost every day we've been together and yet you continue doing the same stuff you know hurt me. I'm putting myself first for once, and if that makes me a whore or selfish, or anything you want to call me that's fine because I've come to terms with the fact we aren't right for each other."
"Don't do this, Jay... I'll be better, I promise." Maya's face was pale as she cried. You felt embarrassed for her as everyone in the outside area was staring, cameras were flashing and you knew people were recording.
"I'll text you later." You sighed, before grabbing your purse and walking towards Maya. You wipe her tears and grab her hand, leading her away from the attention and cameras.

-8- A Young Prince
Palace life was restrictive and oppressive because the prince was a controlling tyrant who loved nothing more than exerting said control, but it wasn't terrible. It was aesthetically beautiful, and everyone had their space to a degree. Those who were freshly turned created new family ties, becoming lovers, sisters, and daughters. They brought new stories and modern wisdom.
Women who'd been alone too long and even married women bored of the same man watched the prince, hoping to catch his eye and gain favor. The quiet goal was to ascend the ranks earning the Queen's chair that sat forever empty since Inamore. As Queen, they'd likely get first drink in feeds and first choice of found and confiscated gold valuables. They'd be above the royal guard and above reprieve. Best of all, they'd have the sought-after handsome young prince for their own. He was cold, cunning, and virginal, but he was the most attractive and powerful of all.
Perched on his main throne, he lounged with one long leg thrown over the arm and his elbow in the nook. It was the awaited Talent Night in the palace, and he was bored out of his mind watching the poor excuses for entertainment. Sword swallowing with no risk of a gruesome death was pointless.
His two most loyal servants stood poised at his left and right. "My prince," Huli quietly yawned, covering his mouth, "Should I lock him away in the dungeon with the others?" The punishment was of time, not of death. The only reason N'Jadaka didn't kill any of them was in honor of his late father, whom he'd never met. Legend had preserved his legacy and hailed him as a hero. His mother was hailed a saint.
Many of the vampires in N'Jadaka's service were truly ancient. They were older than him and had been original subjects of the late King Udaku before a baby was even thought of. Their commitment to the throne predated his mother, who had become queen. N'Jadaka had not met her either since she died in childbirth.
According to N'Jadaka's education, the people had mourned their wondrous queen and beloved king while swearing themselves in life-long service to the newborn progeny... which was him. Then came the full effect of curse that bound them all as prisoners to the forest. It was all due to the birth of the prince. Yes, his birth was the awful yolk on their shoulders, and they should've hated him or killed him for a chance at their freedom.. but they couldn't muster it. He was young and innocent N'Jadaka was told of it all.
Loyal through the bitterness of sorrow, the kingdom pulled together to raise up a powerful prince who would surpass the late king in every aspect but his heart. They taught him every world language, advanced mathematics, strategy and statistics, the history of tribes and kingdoms. They trained him in war, weapons, and every martial art. They handed down the secrets of the forest, which were handed down in foresight by the great King Udaku himself. Most importantly, they taught him about his royal lineage, starting with his parents.
King Udaku, placing high value on human life and family, had contained the curse within himself and sacrificed his own life in hopes that the curse would die with him.
N'Jadaka, however, had been born of his blood, transforming the curse. He entered the world orphaned, crying, and blood-thirsty. Though brand new and innocent, he was doomed to an eternity of murder and chaos.
This was N'Jadaka's burden.
After half a millennium, thirty-two original soldiers and servants of the king, with their wives and husbands, remained in the deep forest kingdom, unable to ever venture out into the world again. They were a tribe forever lost to time.
Young N'Jadaka became the strongest of men as a small child. He was the most precocious, the most viscious, and the most devious small devil because he was entitled with no one able to contain him or tell him no. His only boundary was created by the curse that had evolved with his birth to keep him in the forest away from humanity. The evil witch had considered it all. Secluded in the forest, N'Jadaka could go mad and kill himself, or the people could grow tired and kill him, effectively ending the King's lineage and ridding Wakanda of the curse. She was holding it all hostage. If she couldn't have the throne, no other Udaku seed would survive to inherit it.
Young N'Jadaka, upon learning his own story, dreamed of the goriest vengeance. As he grew through adolescence, refusal to meet his demands led to vicious tantrums, which meant pain or, in the worst cases, death. He drained over ten of his father's original men before his thirst could be somewhat thwarted and controlled. It wasn't until man eighteen was mangled and drained that the king's right hand Huli discovered the secret to immortality.
The then ten year old Prince N'Jadaka stalked him through the garden, attacking and spilling his blood across the irises, thus staining the grass and stone walkway with pools of red. Huli, in his refusal to die easily, bit back with all his might, drawing a few drops of blood from the boy. The cut stunned him long enough for the other guards to advance and recover Huli. Before then, N'Jadaka had never bled or felt physical pain. He hadn't understood the concept.
The speed of Huli's healing considering the severity of his wounds could only be deemed as supernatural, and it was credited to N'Jadaka's blood. With only a few drops, Huli was whole, healed, and better than ever. Huli also found that as a result of sharing blood, he shared a deeper psychological bond with the prince that helped him to see clear into the child's innocent soul. The boy lived in a state of being extremely and deeply lonely. He longed for a simple pious life as he'd read about with parents, structure, and a peaceful society.
Huli stared down at the troubled young boy feeling a wave of compassion, understanding, kindness, and fatherly love. The boy hadn't asked to be born a fearsome creature. He'd never asked to be born at all. The endless training and worship owed to one far beyond his age was his birthright and his path but not his choosing.
Despite what he now knew, Huli's body still bowed in submission under the weight of his promise and sense of duty, reaffirming his continued service to the jaded boy. "I shall never leave you so long as you live," had been his words, and N'Jadaka carried them. As the prince lived, so did Huli, Semi, and the others, having completed the exchange of blood and the transformation process from death to immortality. Together, they outlived the world of that time and the next and the next, and the kingdom continued to grow as brave travelers and stubborn hikers ventured past the barrier.
The law was to never bite nor kill. No one could move a finger without an order from the prince. When humans shed blood in the forest, they became prey for the prince, and only he could decide what was best. When a subject broke rank, they were punished. As for the forest's worthy stragglers, they were transformed, brought under the curse, and subjected to the law and reign of N'Jadaka, unable to escape and tell the outside world of what they'd seen.
The only exception since the beginning had been Dawn, and for that, many did hate her out of pure envy.
Huli forcefully escorted the jilted sword swallower down into the dark and dank dungeon while Semi remained stoic at the Prince's right side, directing the next entertainer to step forth and try his luck. It was a fire juggling act, interrupted by a host of lime green parrots flying loudly into the throne room.
N'Jadaka held out his hand in invitation as they circled the throne above his head, landing on his finger, arm, and shoulders. Curious eyes adhered to him in wait, wondering the meaning. He had a way of communicating with the parrots of the forest that no one understood or could decode. The seductive smirk on his lips meant one of two things. Either dinner would be served sooner and fresher than originally anticipated, or something never before seen was before them. All of the kingdom stood still as stone to see which way fate would have it.
They followed him on his steady trail through the expansive castle to the immaculate castle grounds and beyond, through the thick forest green and trees. They trecked effortlessly, floating through the leaves and dirt like ghastly aparitions.
The talent show was over. The sun disappeared and returned while all they were still gathered. No one dared move in fear that they might miss something monumental. When the sun disappeared and returned once more, bringing in another shrieking lime green parrot from the outside, N'Jadaka stood from his throne and descended the platform to walk the stretch of the wide hall, followed by the silent undead.
When the Prince came to a stop, they stood back, listening and watching. The only sounds were the rustling of branches, the song of birds, the slight hum of the wind, and the movement of animals and humans alike in the distance. The temptation to follow the smell of freshly shed human blood was strong. N'Jadaka sent Semi to pick up dinner to ease the tension, then he extended a hand that warned his subjects not to follow.
"Seems I have an appointment to attend to," he muttered as he advanced through the tree branches alone.

Summertime Magic XII
Tumblr media
A/N: I'M BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. I know it has been a very long time, like years, but I have been going through a lot of stuff like depression, panic attacks, and just an all-around mess. BUT I AM BACK AND HERE TO STAY.
To Catch Up, Press Here.
Warning: No warning but ... nope, you gotta read it.
Song Recommendation: Honest Kiana Lede
Word Count: 2665
“Of course, baby. Especially after that. You basically fought for me and you still looked beautiful doing that shit. You’re a queen for sure, always have. Always will be”, N’Jadaka kissed her perfectly bandaged knuckles and lied his head into her chest again. “And you will always be my king, baby boy.” She straddled his lap kissing his forehead and was startled by him pulling them down to the bed so she lied on the bed and he was on top. “I love you, my queen.”
“I love you, my king.”
They began to kiss and get intimate as their chains sat in a dish together, sunken in a cleaner to get rid of all the blood they drew together as a team, in the distance.
~
“Daka, have you seen my keys”, Y/N asked as she looked through the multiple purses of her home while N’Jadaka was in the kitchen washing dishes. “Nah, baby. I haven’t. Did you check ya jeans you wore last night?”
“That was the first thing I checked, baby”, Y/N walked out of her bedroom wearing a camel-toned satin pencil skirt with a black turtleneck and matching heels; her hair was laid with a seamless 1B lace front wig cut into a bob, left side tucked behind her ear. Daka turned his head in her direction and started to walk up to her. “Look at my queen, looking like she looking.” He wrapped his arms around her and began kissing her neck. “Baby, I gotta go”, Y/N said as she pouted. Daka growled in her ear and said “Nah, you don’t” before smacking her plush bottom. Y/N felt all heated up but knew the business had to be dealt with at the shop. It had been a month and the team was finally chosen, eight nail techs, four barbers and beauticians, and a whole lot more. “Aht aht. None of that. Momma got to go have this business meeting, my love. And besides, don’t you have to be at the center today anyway.”
“Ah, shit. You right”, N’Jadaka said as he dried his hands off. The grand opening was in a week for the center and everything had to be perfect. “Shuri been bugging me about that. The fam was supposed to be all here, but T is in New York, M is in the ATL and Shuri is gonna be in Florida opening the other centers.” Y/N listened as she grabbed ice-cold water from the fridge; she noticed her keys were by the door. “Well, they are here in spirit. OK, I will see you tonight for dinner, right?”
“Oh, for sure. It’s at Leslie’s?” Y/N nodded as she smiled and said, “yes and you can meet my Godson, Izaiah.” N’Jadaka grinned adding, “I can’t wait to meet little man, baby. I know he is gonna be a good kid.” She looked at him as she walked back to the door. “Well, my baby is very much on the shy side. It would take a while for him to get warmed up to you.”
“What is he into? Like coloring, video games, what?”
“Eh, a little bit of everything. But I gotta go. Love you, baby”, and like that she was gone. N’Jadaka looked at his watch and ran off to the room to get ready. He looked over what he chose to wear again to make sure, a black sweater with matching slacks and loafers. When he was finished, he heard some movement in his living room. With his Navy tactic instincts, he listened carefully as he crept in. Suddenly, something told him to grab and pull which he did. He pulled down a slightly heavy object and flipped it over his shoulder; when he looked to see what or who it was, his older cousin chuckled heartedly. “T, what the Hell? You scared the fuck outta me!”
Tumblr media
“I am sorry, cousin N’Jadaka. I thought it would be an amazing surprise to see your dear cousin.” The cousins dear their royal salute and chuckled at how T’Challa startled the Prince. “I thought you were in the Big Apple. Go ahead and sit. Get comfortable”, Daka said as he heads to the kitchen. As T’Challa sat on the couch, N’Jadaka asked “you want anything while I’m in here, cuz.”
“Water will be fine. I see you added a few new pictures around, dear cousin.” T’Challa had lifted up the golden framed picture and grinned; it was a photo of N’Jadaka and Y/N at what seemed to be a wedding. He wore a navy suit with a white button-down and his hair braided back; she wore a beautiful, tasteful burgundy sheer gown with her hair in a low bun and golden jewelry. As he placed the photo down, N’Jadaka handed him his water and sat on the armchair near the couch. “Well, Y/N will be a beautiful princess one day and from Shuri’s mouth, she is quite the woman.  She could not stop speaking highly of her once she came back.” N’Jadaka leaned back into his chair and agreed to say “yeah, my baby is something special.” T’Challa sipped from his bottle and noticed his cousin grinning into space. As he leaned to place his bottle on a lonely coaster, he asked “well, when will you tell her you are THE prince of Wakanda?”
N’Jadaka side-eyed his cousin and uttered “it’s not the right time, T. One day, but not now.” T’Challa lay back on the couch and folded his leg over his other knee. “If you love Y/N then why hide who you REALLY are? You are the Prince of Wakanda and a part of one of the wealthiest families, there is. You live in a lavish part of California near the hills and you have an underground garage for cars. How does she not know or expect you are basically worth trillions?” N’Jadaka leaned forward, elbows knees, and said “she been busy with her shop, and besides, I don’t want her to end up being like every woman I have been with. Cuz, I had multiple women claiming I gave them a baby but how can I do that as a virgin? What we got pregnant orally”; this made T’Challa laugh and boom around the area. “Ah, yes. You are talking about Ashley, Veronica, and Francesca.”
“Yeah, those ‘women’ only wanted to take pictures and pretend it was their shit. I’m just glad Shuri can hack people’s phones and whatnot. But I just gotta make sure Y/N is really the one, T. That’s all.” N’Jadaka looked at the time on his phone and placed it on the table; T’Challa noticed the picture on the screen of the couple. “I have 20/20 vision, Prince N’Jadaka, so that means I can clearly see that she is the one you will marry and have multiple babies with.  I have yet to meet her but Shuri has told me nothing but good things about her. You should not doubt that she isn’t. Father has taught you that before he passed away.”
“I know but-“
“Aht aht, no buts, Prince. Y/N is the only. I can see it already.”
Tumblr media
“I agree with your cousin, N’Jadaka”, N’Jadaka heard coming from the secret elevator. There he stood’ 6’5, around 250 or more in brown dress pants, wool turtleneck, and suede slipper. N’Jadaka stood and gave his good friend brotherly love. “Baku, you look good man. I see you not dressing like a hobo anymore”; M’Baku laughs while he faked like he was going to hit him in the gut. “I wanted to come to visit before my trip to Trinidad for a month or so. I had to see about this overly flashy garage of yours but also to hear about the lovely Y/N in person.”
“You tryna ease up on my lady, bro?”
“Her, no. A sister, twin or cousin that looks exactly her, yes most definitely”, M’Baku said matter of factly while the men looked at one another. “Well, MY baby is that shop handling business and away from you, horn ball”. Suddenly, the door opened and the men turned to see a woman coming in. “Come in, Leslie. We can get the-"; the ladies stopped when the N’Jadaka was with two men. “Oh, hey baby. I am so sorry. I came to get the paperwork for my employees. We can wait until you’re done.” N’Jadaka walked to her and hugged Leslie, and gave his lady a kiss on the forehead. “Never apologize, baby girl. That is why I gave you the key to come and go as you please. I wanna introduce you to my friend, M’Baku, and my cousin, T’Challa.” When Y/N looked at Leslie, she smiled, and waved at the two then looked between her and N’Jadaka. “While y’all talk, Ima go to the back and look for those papers”, Leslie said as she fixed her power suit and gave the men slight bows to pass by; M’Baku watched as she passed by and waited until she disappeared. “Is she attached to anyone”, M’Baku asked and Y/N smiled. “Married actually with a child if I may add.” M’Baku held his head down in defeat as a joke as T’Challa smacked him on the chest and made his way over to Y/N. “Hello, Y/N. It is finally nice to meet you in person and now I see what Shuri said about your beauty is truth.”
“She is very sweet and telling by your accent like Shuri’s is that you are actually born and raised in Wakanda”; T’Challa looked at N’Jadaka to see that his eyes squinted right before Y/N looked at where he changed into a smiley expression. “Yes, I sure am.”
“Ooo, how is it? I’ve heard it's beautiful. I tried looking up pictures, but I couldn’t find any pictures.”
“Well, that is because we are like a very private location. You know, to keep intruders-.”
“And colonizers”, N’Jadaka said cutting of T’Challa. T’Challa looked at N’Jadaka before looking back at Y/N. “I guess he is right.” They heard Leslie’s heels click against the ground and turned with the files in hand. “Alright, girly. Let’s get a move on. We got lost to do tonight.”
“Well, it was nice meeting you both. I guess I will see more of you soon”, Y/N said and T’Challa nodded. Leslie touched N’Jadaka’s shoulder and said, “see you tomorrow night, and don’t forget the drinks.”
“Bye, my baby”, Y/N said before Leslie gently pushed her out and closed the door. N’Jadaka smiled at the door before M’Baku asked “so, her friend. Is that a real situation with her husband and child or”, with a mouth full of washed, crunchy celery; the men looked at him as he shrugged and kept eating.
THE NEXT NIGHT
Y/N stepped out of the bathroom in nothing, but an all-black bra and panty set staring at two outfit options; a light blue jean dress with a matching jacket a brand new black Timberlands that N’Jadaka bought, or a yellow sundress and sandals. N’Jadaka was in the mirror standing there in a white tee and black combat cargo. He peeked over at Y/N holding up the outfit up to her frame as she looked in the mirror. He leaned against the door frame and looked over her outfit. “Ain’t it too cold to wear a dress. It’s like 50 degrees outside and besides, they said to be comfortable and warm since we are eating in the backyard.”
“Yeah but it’s pretty.”
“Yes, it’s very pretty and you are beautiful, but I don’t want you catching a cold because it’s ‘cute.’ What about jeans, basic with a jacket and ya Timbs.” She turned to look at what he wore and up & down saying “you tryna be twins again, big head.” He walked up to her with hands in his pockets and smiled. “I mean, Ima be warm so I’m just saying that my fit choice makes sense.” He wrapped his arms around her waist, making her smile, and she told him “tell you what? What if I wear one of your long sleeve white tees, black jeans with the boots, and my jean vest.”
“Eh, I don’t know”, he said being goofy and it made her hit his forehead softly and he laughed. “So rough. Aight aight fine BUT if you get cold do NOT, AND I do mean DO NOT ask for my jacket, little lady”; she held up her pinky and said, “pinky promise.” He rolled his eyes and he cuffed their fingers together. Soon, she got dressed before doing her hair in a large bun on her head and looked in the mirror, quietly admitting that she actually looked better than this in her jean dress; they hopped in the car and were off. As Y/N led them to the location, they looked around the neighborhood, full of white people and huge houses. N’Jadaka shook his head while observing the people watching their car pass by. Once they finally pulled up, he turned off the car and reached behind him to the backseat, and grabbed his jean jacket along with the bottle of alcohol for the small dinner party. Before he got out he looked at Y/N’s left hand as she applied lip gloss and checked her hair; he stared at the hand with new jewelry before he asked “ya ready, baby?”
“Yeah, ready”; he walked over to her side to open the door, help her out and close the door before wrapping his arm around her waist as they walked. Before she rang the bell, Y/N could hear giggles and pitter-patter passing by inside which made Y/N chuckle. “Leslie is chasing around Izaiah before dinner. It makes him eat a lot which means he will be tired by ten.”
“He goes to bed at ten?”
“If they are lucky. That little boy can get so much energy that he won’t be able to sleep until four.” The door soon opened and revealed Monte smiling big and pulling Y/N into his arm and lifting her up into a big hug. “Monteeeee, ugh. Put me down, you big dummy”, Y/N said as she laughed before Monte put her down. Monte held his arms up and said “welcome to our crib. JD, it’s good to see you again brotha, man”, he said as he gave him a brotherly handshake. “Thanks for inviting me, man.”
“Ah, don’t mention. If you dealing with Y/N, you deserve some love over here”, he stood to the side as they walked in. The ceiling was tall with a silver tinted chandelier that hung midway, two levels of stories, and an archway on both sides of the home. “Whoa, bro. This is a HUGE house”, Y/N said as she looked around; N’Jadaka just did the same, but he knew in his head that his place was bigger, she just didn’t know about it. They heard the giggles and laughs getting closer when a three-year-old toddler ran their way and Y/N scooped him up. “Got ya, stinky butt”, she said before lifting him into the air and blowing a raspberry on his belly. Leslie walked around the corner out of breath and said “hey, y’all. As y’all can see, the little troublemaker was tryna make a getaway.” Y/N held him on her hip while he cuddles into her and said “he should know that when TT is here, it is a wrap”; she tickled his stomach loving his little giggle. N’Jadaka looked over to Leslie and said “hey, I brought the drinks.”
“Okay, cool. I’ll show you the kitchen so we can chill them”, Leslie said as she walked past the group after kissing her husband and son. Once the pair walked into the kitchen, he saw the oakwood countertop and black-white patterned tile ground. “This is nice as fuck. It really is nice, Lez. No cap.”, he said as got to the fridge caressing the dark steel fridge that matched the coffee machine, microwave, and stove/oven. “Thanks, we got them from this appliance shop down the way. You can sit down while they go out. I think we should talk.” N’Jadaka sat on one of the barstools at the island placing his jacket down and Leslie pass the water bottle to him; he opened it and began drinking.

Stop Playing Pt.6
Erik Killmonger X Reader
Warnings : Jealous Friends, Fighting, Fluff, Cussing, Erik being Erik, use of the B word.
Authors Note : I sincerely apologize for the long wait I've had writers block for a long time that i was able to overcome to give you guys the story. I also want to thank @ceniorina for helping me through this writers block and also for the people that continue to read my story it’s greatly appreciated
Erik was waiting for Y/N inside the car. He agreed to go with her to meet her friends for brunch regardless if Jasmine is there he’ll suck it up for his girl.
“ Babe come on we're gonna be late” Erik says yelling from the car window.
“ Okay babe I'm coming” Y/N says fixing her sundress while locking his apartment door.
Erik then’s gets out of the car to open the passenger door for her. “ Damn babe you sure you want to go to the brunch we can stay here and have brunch ourselfs”. Erik says while grabbing her hand, spinning her around. Y/N noticed that look in eye and knew if she agreed they wasn't going nowhere.
“ Babe i already promised the girls we will come,” Y/N says, looking up at him trying to fight the temptation. Erik leans down and captures Y/N lips in a slow tender kiss.
Y/N felt herself get hot and bothered but she had to pull away before things got heavier. “ Babe come on please i promise you can have me all you want when we come back” Y/n says pulling away from the kiss.
“ Alright Bet lets go” Erik says while looking down at Y/N. Erik really couldn't believe he really got the girl of dreams and he wasn't letting her go.
----- 30 minutes later-----
Erik and Y/N pulled up to Roscoes and saw their friends plus Jasmine.
“ Heyyyy yall i see yall finally made it”. Mo’nique says wrapping Y/N in a hug and turning to give Erik a hug also.
“ Y'all come on they finally got out table”. Corey says walking towards the group.
Once they all got to the table they noticed how Erik is tending to Y/N more than normal they can't help but think something definitely happened. Mo’nique already had feelings that they went deeper than friendship and is happy for them they've had feelings for each other and neither acted on it.
Erik sat down after helping Y/N get situated, he noticed out the corner of his eye Jasmine glaring at them he chose not to say anything he’ll ignore it for NOW.
“ Soooooo is it something yall wanna tell us yall looking mighty cozy” Kareem says while wiggling his eyebrows.
Y/N and Erik looked at each other and smiled might as well tell them now since Kareem brought it up.
“ Well me and Y/N are together officially”. Erik says putting his arm around Y/N and giving her a kiss on her cheek causing Y/N to hide her head into his neck.
Everyone at the table erupted with cheers and I knew it’s and congrats. Y/N felt so happy she have friends that's happy for her and her relationship she couldn't help but noticed Jasmine Glaring and muttering something under her breathe.
“ What's wrong jasmine you okay” Y/N asks looking at Jasmine with full concern in her eyes.
Everybody at the table paused to look at what's about to happen. They could feel the tension roll off of Jasmine.
Jasmine looked up and just stared at Y/N before saying.
“ I just find it funny how all of sudden your with him” Jasmine says with attitude laced in her voice.
“ What's so funny about me being with Erik” Y/N says with full fire and confusion in her eyes. Everybody can feel how left this about to turn.
“ It's funny because you knew i like him and still went after him like the hoe you are”.Jasmine says slamming down her spoon.
Everybody got quiet and looked at Erik, Y/N and Mo’Nique. Y/N stood up and immediately the rest did too. “ Bitch I didn’t know shit we are just roommates you don't talk to me unless we are at home at the same time you barely know Erik because of me and the rumors that surround him” Y/n said so eerily calm while walking up to her.
Jasmine also stood up ready to fight Y/N if she had to. Y/N looked at her like she was crazy. “ Don't call me no bitch and you did know i told you in your face” Jasmine said getting in Y/N face.
“ Bitch you was talking about Kareem big head ass you don’t want Erik you want to fuck him bitch its a difference and if you didn’t notice he don’t like you don’t want shit to do with you”. Y/N says pushing Jasmine out her face. Jasmine took that chance to swing at Y/N but she missed. Y/N saw the punch coming and pivoted to the right and it hit Jasmine with two punches to the face making her fall.
Erik then ran up behind Y/N to hold her back from going after Jasmine again he knew she didn't stand a chance against Y/N. Y/N didn't like to fight but she would especially if she needed to defend herself.
Kareem was standing there looking shocked but disgusted at the same time Jasmine was known to get around and the campus is huge. Corey was holding Mo’Nique back so she wouldn't jump in the fight.
“ Nah bae she ain't worth it don't let her get you”. Erik says holding Y/N back whispering in her ear.
Y/N wasn’t tryna listen to anything Erik was saying. Y/N was pissed how dare this bitch come at her like this when she gave her nothing but kindness and then comes for her character. Y/N was seeing red.
“ Wassup now huh thought you were tough” Y/n yells then continues. “ If you also didn't notice he's always been mine you never stood a chance boo”  now get up and fight since you wanna run that mouth run them hands.
Erik literally picked Y/N up and carried them outside so they wouldn't cause a bigger scene.
“ Babe calm the fuck down listen to me dont let that bitch get to you man focus baby” Erik says grabbing Y/N head so they can look eye to eye.
Mo’nique being the sneak that she is, was able to run up on Jasmine and start fighting with her. Kareem and Corey hurried and tried to pull them apart but they weren't letting go. Jasmine had a grip on Mo’Nique hair and Mo’nique was just punching her in the face.
Erik turned around, saw what was going on and was glad that jasmine was finally getting what she deserved but it was time to go before the cops got called.
“ Ayye yall come on lets go before the cops come” Erik yells while trying to get Y/N in the car.
Corey was finally able to pull Mo’Nique away from the fight and get her to the car.
“ Watch yall back bitches i got something for y'all” Jasmine yells walking away.
When Erik heard that it made a switch go off in his head he don't take threats lightly especially when it involve Y/N.
“ Yea Bitch try it if you want to ill fuck all yall up without remorse” Erik says with this evil look in his eye finally getting Y/N in car and turning around to look at Jasmine.
---- 1 Hour Later----
Erik pulls up to his California beach house he had for peace and to relax he then see’s Corey car pull up in the driveway behind him he wanted to take them all to this place to calm down.
Erik looked at Y/N and pulled her into a hug. He knew what had happened to her; he knew she was eating herself up on the inside.
Y/n immediately balled into tears she couldn't believe she let Jasmine get the best of her but she had to put her in her place. Y/N was so lost in her mind that's she didn't notice Erik carry her into the house.
“ Hey babe look at me please don't let this get to you okay you still the same Y/N everybody knows and loves baby”. Erik says while kissing her forehead he hates when she gets like this.
“ ………..  Thank you baby i really appreciate i'm good now promise” Y/N says kissing Erik on his lips.
Everybody moved to the living room and sat down on the couches. Erik grabbed the remote to turn on the tv and the game system. Y/N then gets up and tells Mo’Nique to follow her to the kitchen so they can decide what's gonna happen now

Have Mercy
Tumblr media
Description: Mercy Hodges is the daughter of an international con man and the ex-girlfriend of Black Ops Soldier Erik “Killmonger” Stevens. Tangled up with people like that, things were bound to go wrong.
CW: Abduction and violence
Mercy is a Black woman. If you enjoy my writing, please comment and reblog.
--
Part 1:
“So what I’m hearing is that once you no longer need your father’s financial support, you’ll cut contact with him. Is that right?” the woman on the screen asked.
Mercy Hodges took a deep breath and searched her mind for the most honest answer. She struggled to find it, as half of her mind was distracted by trying not to cry. There was something even more embarrassing about crying during an online therapy session than an in person one.
“I think,” Mercy began, hoping that if she just started talking that the answer would just come out on its own. “Yeah… I think so. Every interaction I have with him is more stress than it’s worth. The man owes me half a million in child support, but all I want is for him to help me pay for three years of grad school. Once I’m on my feet, I could easily never talk to him again.”
Mercy felt her cheeks get hot and tears threaten the edges of her vision. Her relationship with her father was tense to put it lightly. He’d never truly been around, and she hadn’t seen him in person in at least eight years. Despite a lifetime of disappointment, she still held on to some childhood hope that her father actually cared and would deliver on his promises. Her mother had told her not to hold her breath and to keep hustling.
“I’m not even money motivated!” Mercy proclaimed. “I never have been. I just don’t want to be drowning in student debt while he and his other family live in a marble lined McMansion and travel all over the world. You’d think he’d back the winning team at least... I’m going to one of the best law schools in the country! What the fuck?”
Mercy glanced back at the screen and was met with the ever understanding face of her therapist, a honey skinned, loc having, tattooed Black woman named Layla. Sometimes Mercy struggled to remember that Layla was her therapist and not her friend. Mercy stopped talking abruptly, suddenly feeling like she’d said too much.
“Unfortunately, Mercy, we’re out of time,” Layla informed her. “But I want to revisit this next week. You’re making great progress.”
Mercy thanked her with an awkward smile and logged out of the platform as quickly as possible. It was embarrassing to still have “daddy issues” at twenty six years old. She had wanted to talk about something normal, like her coursework, or her recent breakup with her ex Erik, but Layla was an expert at digging deep to the root of what she was hiding, even when Mercy wasn’t expecting it.
“Ugh, god!” Mercy groaned leaning back in her chair and staring at the ceiling. Stirring up all of her abandonment issues always left her feeling at a loss for what to do. The old wound her absent father left had recently been ripped open when her boyfriend Erik Stevens dumped her out of nowhere.
Here she was, thinking she was about to be elevated from girlfriend to fiancée, when Erik suddenly packed up his things, said his job made it unsafe for him to have her in his life, and left without another word.
The excuse was new, but the feeling of being left behind was familiar. She deserved her chance to express how she felt, but Erik’s phone went straight to voicemail. So Mercy found herself aiming her anger at her father, calling him up and trying to appeal to him to help her pay for graduate school, or contribute to her life at all. Unsurprisingly, he refused.
And such was the cycle.
“Men aint shit,” she grumbled. “Why am I even surprised?”
She jumped when she felt a ghosting of fur against her leg, and looked down to find her nineteen year old cat Rumplestiltskin lightly tapping her thigh with his paw. Mercy hoisted him up, careful to support his old body and clutched him to her chest.
“Not you, Rumple. You’re the only man I need, huh?” she cooed before kissing his forehead. He began to purr and flexed his toes, digging his claws into Mercy a bit. They sat there like that for a few minutes before she stood, carrying Rumplestiltskin with her.
“Well, shall we make this stereotype a trifecta?” she proposed. “Jaded, single twenty six year old with daddy issues and a cat. Let’s add some ice cream in which to drown our sorrows.”
Mercy padded to the kitchen, gingerly placing the cat on the living room couch on the way. At the fridge, she clicked on her phone to google “can cats have ice cream?” but found herself on Erik’s instagram profile instead. She bit her lip and tapped her foot absentmindedly, searching for any sign of activity since their breakup. But his profile was quiet. No stories, no posts for the last two weeks. She hadn’t been blocked anywhere, but it seemed like he’d just gone off the grid.
She knew Erik’s job with the government was dangerous but he rarely shared details with her. At times, he’d be gone for months at a time, and spoke nothing of it when he returned. Every now and then, however, he’d teach her how to get out of different restraints or how to profile a bad guy.
“Or maybe I’m the bad guy,” he’d say and pounce on her, peppering her with kisses.
Maybe he was telling her the truth when he said he was leaving her to protect her. But that didn’t hurt any less.
Mercy suddenly realized she had been standing in front of the open freezer the entire time and shut the door, Ben and Jerry’s in hand. She skipped getting a bowl. She fully planned on eating the entire pint.
“Sorry, buddy,” she lamented as Rumplestiltskin’s nose began to twitch in interest. “Turns out kitties shouldn’t eat ice cream. It’s not good for you. And before you say anything, yes, I know it’s not good for me either.”
The tabby stared back at her with lamp like eyes.
“Fuck it. You’re an old man. You’ve earned it. Live your best life.” Mercy carefully carved out a single spoonful of vanilla ice cream and placed it on a saucer. She really had the most patient and docile cat in the world. Rumplestilskin lapped happily at the treat as Mercy sunk into her side of the couch.
Well… what used to be her side of the couch. The loveseat seemed suddenly much larger now that Erik wasn’t on the other side, smiling at her… Rumple purring contentedly between them.
She missed him. Mercy often caught herself going to tell him something exciting or text him a meme she found funny, forgetting that he was no longer there. At least she could pass off those few slip ups of talking to someone who wasn’t there as talking to the cat.
Mercy tried to focus on the episode of Queer Eye she was watching, but her eyes kept drifting back to her phone. She kept refreshing Erik’s pages like something new would appear.
“This is embarrassing,” she said under her breath. “Stop it.”
Rumplestiltskin had fallen asleep, his salt and pepper paws twitching as he dreamt. He had the right idea. It was best to just pack it in and go to bed rather than torture herself all night.
Mercy unfolded her legs slowly, taking care not to disturb the sleeping feline next to her and made her way to bed. She wrapped her hair in silk, threw on an oversized t-shirt and panties, and slipped in between her sheets. She spread out across the mattress. One of the few good things about being single was that she now had free reign over the entire bed. She also didn’t have to wear earplugs anymore because no one was snoring next to her, save for the small rumble from Rumple who seemed to have teleported from the couch to the bed and went right back to dreaming.
Mercy closed her eyes and drifted off easily. It wasn’t all bad.
--
A few hours later, Mercy awoke with a start. Her room was pitch black, save for the alarm clock shining “3:23 AM” on the nightstand. She had awoken with the distinct feeling that someone was in her apartment, but all she could hear was her heart beat thundering. She didn’t move, but took a few deep breaths to deliberately slow her heart. It was probably a nightmare, but if she wanted to be sure, she needed to be as quiet as possible and listen intently. When the blood rushing in her ears slowed, she heard an unfamiliar sound that shot her heart rate right back up.
Rumplestiltskin was growling.
He didn’t growl. He’d never made a mean sound in his life.
The noise was syncopated with hisses. Mercy searched for him with her eyes in the darkness, still not daring to move. It sounded as though he was just outside of the bedroom. It was only when Rumple escalated to a distressed yowl that Mercy jumped up. She had no plan, but her first thought was to defend her cat.
She ran out of the bedroom and multiple hands grabbed her. Mercy screamed and a hand came across her mouth to stifle her. She bit down on a stray finger.
“Ah! Bitch!”
Something hit her on the back of the head, hard. The dark room was suddenly bright white with black spots as her brain tried to process the blow. She flailed and stumbled as a bag was placed over her head and she was forced towards the front door.
Suddenly, a voice, clear as day said in her ear, “Fight like hell.”
It was Erik’s voice.
Mercy didn’t question it. She gathered all of her strength and kicked out of one person’s grasp. She heard them fall back into an end table, sending a lamp careening to the floor. Mercy took her free hand and clawed at another’s face.
“Get DNA under your fingernails,” Erik instructed again. “Resist. Scream.”
“SOMEONE HELP ME!” Mercy screamed, hoping her neighbors in the apartment building would hear her. “HELP!”
The person she clawed released her as blood poured down their face. Mercy reached to rip the bag from her head, but someone grabbed her from behind. She bent at the waist and threw all of her weight forward, sending that assailant tipping over her back and into the couch. She stumbled too, one knee touching the floor.
She finally got the bag off and looked up to see her attackers when another heavy blow struck her in the head and she passed out.

Beyonce—"ll Hands ll Heaven"
N'Jadaka Udaku, the foreign born king of Wakanda was a large man.
Yani watched him stretch his muscled arms and strong neck as he powered the bulk of his big body onto the stern of the houseboat and joined her on the cushiony loveseat facing the water on the lower deck. She had been on the luxury ship before. In America and elsewhere it would be considered a yacht, but to the super rich Udakus, it was a family houseboat.
The king rolled his neck and snuggled next to her, enjoying the warm sunlight and letting the alcohol in the champagne they drank relax him into a slight buzzy stupor. For three hours they floated in a quiet bliss, watching the water become a foamy deluge in their wake slicing through the turquoise liquid. The shoreline view slowly changed from deluxe high rises and bustle of city life to the more tranquil and slower-paced suburbs that led to the rural beauty of outer Zana.
N'Jadaka's skin had turned browner than hers as they sunbathed in their swimsuits, and luxuriated in their togetherness. She kissed his hard bicep and started to cry.
"Yani…"
His concerned voice enveloped her in comfort. He hugged her into his side.
"I'm so happy," she sputtered, knowing the champagne had taken over her emotions. "You're my husband now, and it makes all of this seem so solid and real. I'm drunk…"
He laughed and the sound squeezed her heart.
"I'm not talking about the liquor," she said quickly wanting him to know her true feelings, "I'm drunk off of this love we have. I can't explain it well, but it makes me feel…safe. Finally."
He threaded his fingers with hers and kissed her hand.
"I know what you mean, Yani. I feel the same. I'm actually feeling so many things at once. Maybe that's why I've been so quiet for the last two hours. Taking it all in…knowing that I have a wife. That means everything to me. I didn't know I could possibly love you more, but going through the wedding ceremony, taking vows before gods and people. All of this takes on a deeper meaning."
He stared at their wedding rings.
"I should've married you after the first time we made love because I knew you were the one back then. I just didn't trust myself…I didn't know how to love you properly."
He cast his gaze toward the river water again.
"I have a queen, a family of my own…I have everything I've ever wanted. Maybe I'm scared I'll lose it all again…maybe that's why all of my senses and emotions are heightened. So many people in the world never get to have all of their dreams come true."
Yani leaned over and kissed his cheek. N'Jadaka turned his face to align their lips. He was larger up close, overwhelming her space the way he always did and she welcomed that sensation. It meant that he was her forever love. Her husband.
"Ohmigod, look…N'Jadaka…look," she gasped.
Their love boat passed a giant mountain waterfall that gushed whitewater into the once calm river. The automated boat moved away from the cascading flow that started three hundred feet above them. A cool mist from the water striking the river moistened their skin. Yani leaned her neck back to study how high the waterfall started. They stood and walked up to the top deck toward the bow. The boat switched directions on a pre-determined course and headed directly for the heavy curtain of water one hundred feet wide. She clutched his hand.
"What's happening? Why is the boat going toward the waterfall?" Yani said with a nervous tone.
"Wait and see," he said, throwing an arm around her shoulder.
"Aren't we supposed to cruise around the Ibukan?"
"That's what I told everyone for our safety, but that's not what we're doing," he said with a mischievous grin.
They drifted closer and the roar of the waterfall frightened Yani.
"Keep your eyes open baby…watch," he said.
A vibranium shield shimmered a neon blue streak all around the boat. They cruised straight through the waterfall and Yani marveled at the tons of water washing across the protective barrier.
On the other side they entered an enormous cave. The shield powered down and Yani glanced behind them, listening to the thundering roar of water keeping them out of sight.
The river cave was balmy and lit with lanterns decked around the stone walls. They were inside a mountain that led to someplace she was never privy to.
"Where are we?" she whispered.
"You'll see soon enough," he said, squeezing her closer to him.
The lanterns flickered a yellow-orange glow that allowed her to make out cave drawings that didn't look like Wakandan script. Without the light, the blackness of the interior would've swallowed them. Up ahead, a glint of white beckoned them to an exit.
"Oh!"
Yani covered her mouth with her hand. They floated out into a tropical rainforest with an explosion of colors on vines and canopies she had never seen before. The air smelled different and the scent of the blossoming rainforest flowers lured her steps forward near a railing for a closer chance to sniff the tropical atmosphere. If Joba had been there, she would've believed that her fairy garden had sprouted into a giant real-life wonderland. That's how magical it felt floating along with her husband.
Yani looked around with more wonder and couldn't get over how different the world looked in that place. One would've believed they slipped into a fantasy land with colors that vivid and varied. The boat followed a lazy "s" curve until it stopped. N'Jadaka gathered up their thin, ankle-length aquamarine honeymoon tunics. Yani slipped hers on and he did the same.
"We'll ride a hover bike to the place I want to take you," he said.
Yani walked beside him to the lower deck where a canoe and a hover bike were attached for their use on the trip. She climbed behind her husband and held his waist.
Two elder women and a young man waited for them to float over the water and settle on the landing near the water's edge. One woman carried a woven grass basket covered with a satin blue cloth and the other woman held a full bouquet of magenta and blood-orange flowers. Both women wore heavy brocaded lavender robes with gold sandals. The young man escorting them stood silently watching the royal couple climb off the hover bike. He wore a long plain white shirt with gold crotch-drop pants.
The woman with the basket stepped forward first and handed N'Jadaka the basket.
"Welcome kumkani. We have been waiting for your arrival with the new kumkanikazi and prepared your quarters for the next three days."
"Thank you. May I introduce you to Kumkanikazi Yani?"
All three lowered their heads and waited for Yani to acknowledge them with an offering of her hand. The woman with the bouquet gave them to the queen and Yani sniffed the heavenly scent.
"Where are we?" Yani asked the first woman.
"This is Ekuqaleni. The Beginning. The place where the Udaku clan first came to be through Ugogo Udaku…Grandmother Udaku. She is the matrilineal beginning for the king. You carry her name as your own now, kumkanikazi. The Udaku family line runs through their women."
"Udaku was her surname?" Yani asked.
The elder woman who gave the flowers shook her head and spoke softly.
"No. Udaku was her first and only name. Udaku of the Panther Tribe. Mother of Bashenga Udaku, the first Black Panther and our first united tribal king."
"The women ran everything," Yani said.
The women nodded at her.
"Come, you have had a long day and long journey. Time to rest and get acquainted with the roots of your people."
The fruit basket woman snapped her fingers and the young man became more alert and stepped three feet in front of N'Jadaka as the others did. All citizens were only allowed to stand the requisite distance of three feet unless invited closer by a royal personally.
"What are your names?" Yani asked.
The first woman pointed to herself and then the woman with the flowers.
"I am Mama F'Neka and that is Mama Yiswa. Niso will take you to rest. Supper will be ready when you ask for it. We are here to serve and help you enjoy your stay. Your pleasure is our grace," F'Neka said.
Niso stepped lively and the royal couple carried their gifts and followed a winding path through a wealth of nature's beauty.
"We are on the other side of Umbono Lake," N'Jadaka said.
"By the cove?"
"Close to it," he said.
Yani smiled. She had a better picture of the geography knowing they were further south.
"Are you the only people here?" Yani asked Niso.
"No, kumkanikazi. Several of us work here to take care of Ekuqaleni," Niso said.
N'Jadaka took a hold of Yani's free hand and clasped it as they walked through the tropical paradise.
"No one is allowed to be here except for the royal family, and most times it's just for the newlywed ones," N'Jadaka said. "This place is a historical landmark and not even the public can come here except for certain times of the month annually for special tours."
"Ekuqaleni is a holy place my queen," Niso added. "Ugogo Udaku encouraged her young son King Bashenga to follow the ways of the shaman during the time of constant tribal wars. With her wisdom and Bast's guidance, our revered king found isipho…the gift."
"Vibranium," Yani said.
"Yes, kumkanikazi. Ugogo Udaku was born and lived here in the forest for one hundred and ten years. My family has taken care of Ekuqaleni for generations. Mama F'Neka and Mama Yiswa are my grand aunts. We are a mix of the Panther and River tribe."
The path they followed narrowed and N'Jadaka made Yani walk in the middle behind Niso. Giant multi-colored butterflies with wing-spans as wide as her hand fluttered in a ring high above them. The forest had a cloying sweet odor where they traveled. Niso pointed to the butterflies overhead.
"They are drunk with the fermented nectar of the fruit we gave you," Niso said.
Grayish-green fruit shaped like pregnant pears hung on branches slightly at Yani's eye level. Many had over-ripened and browned deeply in sections where butterflies crawled over them licking the fermentation. She giggled and touched the wing of one nearby butterfly. The soft powdery feel slid across her fingertips as they continued moving into a clearing.
"What about our clothes and things on the boat?" Yani asked.
N'Jadaka fondled her backside with a gentle pat and pinch.
"Don't worry about that stuff. I have it all taken care of. Just enjoy the trip, Ma," N'Jadaka said.
Niso stepped aside letting the royals move ahead of him and Yani's eyes widened.
A natural heated mineral pool faced a sunken fire pit surrounded by low stools and a lounging seat. The lush area was cultivated to blend in with the surroundings with enough touches to look cozy and quite comfortable.
"My king and queen, Ugogo Udaku's family dwelling," Niso said proudly.
Yani had imagined some small thatched covered hut made to survive a tropical environment. Instead, her neck arched back and her mouth fell open at the sight of giant trees as tall, wide, and grandiose as American redwoods, but cultivated over a millennia to take on the braided curved shapes like lucky bamboo. The canopies were also intertwined across the tree tops creating the foundation for pearly white-washed circular tree homes made of smooth stone and earth. The light coloring looked spectacular against the backdrop of twining leaves and branches of bright emerald green etched with faint traces of lemon yellow and vermilion streaks.
N'Jadaka grinned next to her.
"Beautiful huh?" he said, putting the basket of fruit on a low tree-trunk carved table.
Yani put the bouquet of flowers down next to the fruit basket and walked toward the closest tree. She noticed the carved steps inside the trunk that led up to the tree home.
"May I?" Yani asked Niso.
"My queen, this is your ancestral home. You may do as you wish," Niso said.
Yani hurried up the organic steps and squealed when she reached the top. Entering the first room she immediately looked out of the window. Holding her breath, she couldn't believe it all belonged to her. N'Jadaka's heavy footfalls echoed from behind and she glanced at him quickly before spinning around the cool interior.
"So much space! It's huge in here and…ohmigod, N'Jadaka…"
Yani took off through a long hall that led to other parts of the tree house. More living pods were made for bedrooms, a restroom, kitchen area, and then treetop bridges that led to hanging gardens that grew fruits and flowers above the forest floor.
N'Jadaka followed, enjoying the delight in her eyes. They stood together on an above ground pathway that gave them a view of a lazy tributary of milky blue water that flowed to the east of the tree house. More steps carved out of the tree led down directly to the water.
"My ancestors had to live above ground because there was a lot of seasonal flooding before they started damming up spots to control the waterways. I thought staying here a few days before going on the boat cruise would be…romantic?" N'Jadaka said.
Yani hugged him tight.
"I love it," she said.
"I'm glad. I know we could go anywhere in the world, or do anything we want in Wakanda, but I just wanted to be somewhere special for us. You're making roots here too, and your lineage is very important to our history on this patch of land."
Yani's eyes welled up and she blinked away tears by glancing down below and noticing Niso. He waved up to them. A loud growling sound startled Yani. Two black panthers lumbered out from behind twisty vines looping below the trees.
Niso didn't seem fazed at all and bent down to scratch the ear of one panther that rolled over onto its back.
"This is S'Bu and Unathi, your personal guards. Would you like to meet them?" Niso called up.
Yani bounded down the carved stairs of another giant tree dragging N'Jadaka with her by the hand.
"Are they safe? They don't know us," Yani asked.
She quickly became cautious once she stood before the gorgeous beasts, their blue-black coats of fur gleaming like polished midnight. N'Jadaka walked up to S'Bu and cuddled its chin with his big hand.
"They are bred for the royals and brought up to obey your commands and watch over you in the forest," Niso said.
Yani was still hesitant to touch either panther.
"No worries Queen Yani. I have gotten them accustomed to your scent. King N'Jadaka sent over clothing belonging to you so they are familiar with your natural skin odor. They know you are to be respected and protected."
"Tell them to sit in Wakandan baby," N'Jadaka encouraged.
"They're not dogs," Yani said with a small laugh in her voice.
"Try it."
Yani stepped closer to her husband just to be safe and looked both big cats in the eyes.
"Hlala phantsi," Yani commanded.
Both panthers squatted on their haunches and kept direct eye contact with her.
"Good job, Queen Yani," Niso said.
Yani reached out and scritched the ear of Unathi first. The animal purred under her fingers and S'Bu nudged her fingers to get some affection too.
"A jealous baby," Yani said.
"They are both three years old and will come and go frequently to trek around the pereimeter," Niso said.
"Aren't panthers normally solitary?" Yani asked.
"Wild ones, yes. They prefer to be alone until mating season. But these have been raised in a claw of humans and were trained to live together with some female panthers that roam here too. You won't see them as much. They are fed by our team so no need to do anything for these big boys. S'Bu loves belly rubs and Unathi prefers back rubs. When you want them to go away, just clap your hands and they will leave."
Niso lowered his head and kept his hands by his sides.
"I will leave you to begin your honeymoon. Tap your kimoyos when you would like your supper brought to you, or any other extra meals and snacks. Ugogo Udaku's home is equipped with all the latest amenities as the palace. Refreshments are in the home already. There are marked trails and kimoyo scans for landmarks and such throughout the forest. I hope you will enjoy your stay. We are so honored to have you."
"Thank you, Niso," Yani said.
Niso wandered off and the forest swallowed all traces of him. Both panthers flopped down on their sides relaxed and without a care in the world.
"What would you like to do first? Explore a little, or relax. Anything you want to get into is good with me, baby," N'Jadaka said.
"What about you?"
He surveyed the empty fire pit and a stack of freshly chopped wood at the base of the tree house steps.
"I'm thinkin' of making a fire so we can have our supper out here. Shouldn't take me long to get one going. We have a couple of hours left before the sun sets."
"How about you get the fire going and I'll walk around here for a few minutes to get acquainted with the forest," she said.
"Bet."
He strolled over to the wood stack and Yani pivoted the other way. The two panthers sat up. S'Bu padded forward to follow.
"Stay," she said in English.
The panther kept walking and she repeated her command in Wakandan and the big cat abruptly sat on its backside again.
She wandered into an area of hanging vines taking in the fresh air and dense foliage. Staring up, she looked upon the thick canopy that blocked out most of the sunlight and created a shady walk through the forest. Despite the dense covering, tiny slats of golden light filtered down like sundrops, making dustmotes look like sparkly glitter dancing in the bright spots. Yani walked into magic and wonder feeling childlike.
There were a few other tree houses high above, but many hadn't been cared for as well as Ugogo Udaku's home over the years. They had eroded away or been grown over by the trees and vines they were built into. The constant buzzing of cicadas rang in her ears. She welcomed the sound and listened for other tropical noises to alert the world of other life going on around her. Frogs croaked and a few green and blue birds bounced from branch to branch watching her closely. A black and white colobus monkey, with an old geriatric-looking face and a tail of long white fur that favored horsehair, spied on her from above.
A sensation of peace descended over the forest and Yani ventured carefully back to the treehouse. The smell of wood smoke greeted her. N'Jadaka sat on one of the low stools by the fire petting both of the panthers that stretched out in front of him. Yani paused her steps and watched her husband interact with the animals. He looked regal and powerful handling S'Bu and Unathi like they were mere kittens. The fire crackled and so did a leaf under her sandal. N'Jadaka and the panthers glanced her way. His large physique reminded her of a human panther. Especially his eyes and how they could turn predatory against an enemy. He really was just a giant panther who would turn as docile as the big cats at his feet when she pointed him in the direction she wanted. Umama whispered in her ear before they flew away on their honeymoon that the queen of Wakanda was the true power behind the throne, and the best queens kept the king on point. Yani clapped her hands and both cats ambled away following her commands immediately. They retreated in the direction Niso disappeared.
"How was your walk?" he asked.
Yani went to him and touched his pulled back locs. She lifted his chin with two fingers and kissed his full lush lips in the firelight.
"This is perfect," she said after releasing his mouth.
"Hungry?"
"Yeah, I could do with a good meal and then a nice early rest."
"We can go canoeing tomorrow and barbecue in the afternoon. We can also hike to see the top of the waterfall."
"So much to see and do… and all the time we need to do it. A whole month off," Yani sighed into his hair.
N'Jadaka pulled her onto his lap and they enjoyed the fire for a time. He tapped his kimoyo beads and Niso returned with two other attendants pushing a floating double food cart filled with delicacies and more than enough food for two hungry royals. The low dining table was just at the right level of the ancient seats. They sat across from one another and were served the first course of broth and flat bread with wine and fresh cheese bites. N'Jadaka dismissed their attendants after giving instructions to bring a late breakfast in the morning.
"I guess walking out here made us hungrier than we thought," Yani said.
She pulled out several platters filled with yellow rice, grilled vegetables, stuffed flaky fish pastries, tender cuts of beef smothered in rich red wine gravy, and skewers of chicken glazed with peanut sauce. Helping themselves to full plates, they ate and reveled in the calm peacefulness as the sun set. Small solar lights sprinkled around the tree house twinkled to life.
"How pretty…oh…I wish the kids could see this," Yani said.
"They will. We'll come back through here on the way back home our last week. But I want us to have this to ourselves first," he said, winking.
"You really have thought of everything."
She stuffed a piece of the fruit that was already cut up for them in the basket.
"This tastes so good, like a peach and passion fruit mix…here, try some."
Yani passed a small squared off piece to N'Jadaka and he ate it right from her fingers, licking the tips free of juice.
"I like it," he said.
He watched her face then smiled.
"You're glowing," he said.
"What?"
"Your face…your demeanor. It's a glowing vibe."
"Hmmm…I feel like I'm glowing. This might sound funny but, I feel like I'm married. It's like a sensation in my bosom, like a weight or something. Nothing heavy, but…a solidness?"
Yani watched his face. N'Jadaka leaned in closer to the table and reached for her ring finger.
"I kinda feel that way too, Yani. Like how we were discussing on the boat. Ceremony is one thing, but saying those vows to you…I feel more connected to you than I ever have. Once those words came out…it's like you said…almost like the word became flesh and lodged inside of us."
Yani nodded, understanding completely.
"Are you excited about when we get back and you attend your first palace meeting with the Council of Elders?" he asked.
Yani rolled her eyes and nibbled on some bread.
"I don't want to think about the palace right now. I only want to focus on us and this amazing honeymoon trip."
"Want any more wine?"
N'Jadaka held out a wine carafe and Yani shook her head.
"I've had enough to drink today, no thank you."
He sipped the last drops in his own wine glass and checked out the dessert offerings. Lemon tarts and mini vanilla bean cakes with fresh berry glaze. They shared a cake and then covered up the rest of the food for the attendants to retrieve later.
Shucking off their caftans to frolic openly with swimsuits again, they investigated the mineral spring bubbling nearby. A trough made of smooth robin's egg blue stones allowed cool water from the river tributary to flow through. All they had to do was lift a partition made of yellow limestone and clay and the cooler water drained into the steamy mineral waters regulating the temperature.
The spring was about five feet deep in the center with seat impressions carved into the sides that could accommodate up to six adults.
"Nature's Jacuzzi," N'Jadaka said as he helped Yani into the bubbling froth that smelled faintly of sulfur.
Yani lifted the partition and the milky blue river water rushed in and helped neutralize the strong odor from the spring. The frothy mix became soapy on their skin making it tingle.
"Feels like heaven," Yani said after the final adjustment of the partition to a perfect temperature.
Seated shoulder to shoulder, they soaked in heated bliss and held hands under the water. They spoke of the children and their education, and Yani fretted about the possibility of sending Sydette to the best science academy in Wakanda. Their eldest had taken her first Level 1 aptitude exam that all nine-year-olds took to determine their academic journey. Unlike most educational systems, Wakandans let the children's intelligence place them with their natural interests and not just a typical general core curriculum that everyone had to abide by for decades. They allowed children to specialize in their talents early encouraging self-motivation that would hopefully carry on into a lifetime of autodidactism.
Sydette tested high in the hard sciences and mathematics and her primary teacher was pleased to inform Yani and N'Jadaka that S'Yan University had the proper seed school within the institution that all the best young science minds went to early. In a year, Sydette would have to attend a new school for her grade level and Yani wanted her near the palace. Attending the Level 2 in S'Yan would mean boarding school for Sydette. Traveling back and forth to school hundreds of miles away was too much for a little girl. It was tough while she was living away from her father in the countryside under duress, but S'Yan was even further away near the sea.
Boarding school was what rich people did to have their children rub shoulders with the elite and to get high paying, high status jobs after graduation. Sydette was a princess and the daughter of the richest and most brilliant man in the world. She didn't need a boarding school to get ahead in life, she was already at the front of the line. Yani toyed with the idea of asking N'Jadaka to create a school in Zana just as heralded as the one in S'Yan just to keep Sydette at home. All the schools in Wakanda were better than anything outside of the country, but S'Yan University had three particular teachers there that created giants in their field. Shuri and T'Challa had gone there as children before attending the Royal Academy of Wakanda in Zana.
Her mind wandered to their "twins" Joba and Riki. In two years, all of their children could possibly be away from the golden city and boarding on the other side of the country. The thought bothered her to no end. She was supposed to see her babies every day to ask how their day went and help them with their class work. There were already rumblings from Joba and Riki's teachers about skipping them a few grades like N'Jadaka had been. That meant they could leave the palace sooner. Brilliant children meant losing parts of childhood sometimes. Her husband didn't talk about it much, but Dante told Yani that it was tough for the king to be the smartest and youngest child in the room when he was little.
Joba had an aptitude for linguistics and art. Riki…well…Riki was…Yani chuckled.
"What's so funny?" N'Jadaka asked.
"Thinking of Riki. What do you think he'll do with his life? We know he loves animals."
N'Jadaka pressed his lips together suppressing a smirk.
"Why are you looking like that?" Yani asked.
"He told me he wants to start a band."
"Ooh Lord, God…"
"Well, the boy can sing. My Baba could and so can you, which means he has the genetics."
"So Sydette becomes an astrobiologist, Joba the master linguist/art historian, and our son becomes a rock star?"
"Why not?"
"I know the music business first hand remember? It's not a nice industry. He's too smart for that."
"Wakanda is all about letting their young people develop their potential. Maybe it's time for an Udaku to be a famous musician. Give him a few more years with his piano and guitar lessons. He could be the next King of Pop. But a real one!"
"My baby is too sweet to become a raunchy musician."
"Stop projecting."
Yani curled her lip in a pout and N'Jadaka squeezed her kneecap.
"You have to let him have the same opportunity your parents gave you when you were allowed to try your hand at music," he said.
"That wasn't my dream and you know it. Chez wanted to be a star, not me."
"Kendall is doing well though."
"Kendall is a famous music producer now…all behind the scenes work."
"He would be a good mentor for Riki—"
"Are you seriously thinking of letting our son become a performer? You wahn me vex on this honeymoon?"
"You are the queen of Wakanda. Lil Man will never fall victim to the seamier side of the music business because who would want to fuck with his mama? Or his daddy? One word from your mouth and you already know I'm tearing up cities for our kids."
Yani relaxed more and rubbed her hand up and down his arm.
"Promise?" she said in his ear.
"Anything for my wife, ya heard me?"
She nodded. He stood abruptly and pulled at the elastic on his trunks.
"Too hot for me. Let's use the outdoor shower and head up," he said.
She stepped out of the mineral pool and slipped on her sandals. They rinsed off with cool water from an overhead shower nozzle connected to one of the trees facing the treehouse. Stripping off their suits, they wrung them out and strung them along a branch to dry. A second more thorough shower had them fully refreshed and energized.
"Let's stay outside a little longer," Yani suggested.
Even with the sun gone, the spring weather carried the whispers of summer on a slow breeze that followed them back over to the double lounger. N'Jadaka moved it to face the tributary where they could gaze at the bright stars in the evening sky. He tilted the back support so they could sprawl together at an angle. Yani waited for him to settle in the lounger first before she crawled to sit between his legs with the back of her head resting on his chest.
"Do you think Adam and Eve had it like this in the Garden of Eden?" Yani asked.
"Without attendants…maybe."
"Nude in nature and happy like this every day of their lives…"
"Until that whole apple situation," he joked.
"Shooting stars!" she blurted, pointing at the streak of burning dust overhead.
Yani closed her eyes when she spotted a new cluster of vaporized debris masquerading as shooting stars. She made a wish for her husband and herself to live long happy lives without any falls from grace.
Tumblr media
N'Jadaka was pleased.
His new wife loved the surprise excursion to Ekuqaleni. Before his paternal grandfather vanished in the Thanos war, he gave N'Jadaka the suggestion to visit the place of his Wakandan roots where it all began for the Panther tribe. He made meticulous arrangements in secrecy and felt grateful that he listened to Baba Z.
Yani was in awe of the place and more than anything, she loved the seclusion and quiet from other people. She spoke to him with that soft tone he adored in her voice, and touched him constantly. She knew his love language was physical contact and catered to those needs just as he catered to hers by showering her with gifts that showed her that she was worthy of all the good things in life she struggled for. Yani wasn't materialistic by any means, but his constant presents for no special reasons brought her gratitude and acceptance that she was worthy of being spoiled by him. N'Jadaka puffed up ten feet whenever she expressed elation over a new surprise he bestowed upon her simply because he loved her so much.
Naked and tangled together on the lounger, they watched shooting stars and listened to the settling down of the majestic forest. An owl hooted and flew low past their seat right across the tributary. They were surrounded by mountains and away from the constant eyes in the palace. Being butt naked in a serene wilderness calmed his mind and body. He curled his arms around Yani's chest, feeling the soft globes of her breasts push into his warm skin. True Eden was holding her close and never letting her go.
He slid his fingers onto her nipples and played with them. They perked up, still tender from the soak in the mineral pool. She stayed quiet, watching his fingers roll across the firm tips, fat like plump grapes. Her sighs pleased his ears as he plucked and pinched them gently. He cupped each breast and looked down at her chest, slowly pushing them together. Staring at big tits always got him started in the arousal department. Yani's thighs fell open wider and he knew her inner labia were becoming engorged just by the way her backside squirmed against him. She turned her head and he lowered his so they could kiss, their tongues sliding into moist, ready caverns. His mouth watered kissing her, and he kept his tongue at the entrance of her mouth, forcing Yani to beg for more with her prodding tongue. He delved deeper into her throat forcing her to submit that wanton mouth. She matched his pace. His fuller lips took over hers and she moaned deep in her throat.
"Love me?" he whispered between kisses.
She nodded and arched her neck to capture more of his lips, her teeth grazing his bottom lip playfully. He slowed her down with softer kisses that tested the limits of her desire for him. Licking on her neck, he bit into her skin and nibbled on the spot just under the right side of her jaw. He sucked a small hicky there, marking her flesh with his teeth too. She shifted her body onto her side, and the heat from her heavy breasts seared warmth into him. He lowered his hand and touched her down there in that special place.
That pussy was wetter and hotter than the water they crawled out of.
The slickness coated his fingertips and he painted her wide labia with all the stickiness she spewed out.
"I've been waiting to play all in this pussy…"
He prevented her from responding by stuffing his fingers in her mouth, making her taste the sweet tasting nectar she released. She'd spent a week eating large amounts of pineapples and mangoes to make sure her pussy tasted delicious for them.
Good girl.
He gently smacked her vulva. The slap from his hand activated the pleasure of her labia piercings.
"Yesss," she hissed, and he slapped her vulva again, the frothy wetness between her legs making his entire hand wet.
"…playing with my wife's pretty pussy outside in the open. Anybody could walk past and see the queen's wet pussy lips…"
Yani huffed out an aroused breath into his right side. The exhibitionist in her was wound up tight. He drew lazy figure eights all around her jeweled clit. Her legs trembled as he rubbed slow circles on it directly.
"You can't cum on my fingers baby. The king has to eat your pussy first before he can get deep inside you. Would you like that now? My lips on your pussy? Licking all over that juicy clit?"
"Yes…please…Daddy…eat my pussy."
"You about to get some husband dick tonight, Yani. I already told you that shit was going to be different from what you're used to. Daddy gotta put in real work tonight to stretch you out good. I might make several big messes all inside you."
She trembled all over, the tension in her body palpable against his nerve endings. He inserted two fingers partially inside her pussy and they both heard the sound it made when he wiggled his fingers around to test how wet she was. He adjusted her position on his torso so he could reach down and finger fuck her. She spread her legs along the sides of his and savored his digits twirling pleasure inside of her. Her walls squeezed around his fingers. The deeper he sank his fingers the more moans tumbled from her lips. Her eyes were glassy and faraway. She was ready to be piped down good and hard.
N'Jadaka moved her body away from his and slid down to his knees on the soft grass. It was time for him to face the nation between her thighs. Pushing Yani's legs back on the lounger he smashed his lips into her vulva and commenced to pleasuring the queen with a thick wide tongue. She tasted sweeter and her slick offering soaked his lips and most of his lower face.
Tongue fucking her made Yani shoot her legs up to the dark heavens. Her toes pointed to the north star toward freedom in her pussy. A powerful orgasm rippled all across her lush form. He loved the way her entire vulva throbbed in his mouth. Her orgasmic contractions exploded again while he groaned into her soft center making it vibrate with delirious pulses. It forced her to let out a rapturous shout to God and anyone else who would listen to her praises of his tongue.
He slurped up all the stickiness she produced and swallowed it full of greed for more. Standing, he let her witness the growth of his erection. It stood saluting her. Her eyes glossed over his heavy nutsack before admiring his thick arousal. He lifted his balls and squeezed their heft, letting her see what was in store to flood her pussy.
Yani lifted one of the large fluffy pillows from the lounger and placed it on the grass in front of the seat. She dropped onto all fours facing away from him. Head down, ass up. N'Jadaka scooted into a comfortable position at the edge of the lounger and spread his legs. He gripped his dick with a firm hand and stroked himself, watching his wife wiggle her big, wide ass. Her fat vulva gleamed from her piercings and the fresh lubricant her body produced. The inner labia wings were spread out and all of her precious pink winked at him. She played with her pussy and he groaned stroking his dick. Her pretty rose-gold nails pulled her ass cheeks apart providing a gorgeous picture for him. When they got back to the palace he was going to commission a discreet artist to paint his wife in that position. That body was art, especially when it was aroused and that pink pussy throbbed like that.
"Fuck Yani, that pussy looks so juicy…so does that ass baby…"
She slowly rubbed her labia and it was torture staring at wet pussy teasing him to fuck. Women from all over the world had been in that position before trying to seduce him. Only Yani made him pant the way he did watching her tease him. She pushed three of her fingers inside her pussy and the squelching sounds had his fat lips twisted up in agony.
"You like your wife's pussy?" Yani said.
"I do baby…"
"Do you like how it sounds Daddy?"
His hand pounded his dick down to his balls. Precum drizzled down the shaft and all over his right hand. So much came out that he was losing the feeling of friction. He was going to need her tight pussy soon. Sweat poured down his face.
"Yani…damn…Yani…got this dick hard as fuck…shit…"
She started making her ass cheeks jump in a syncopated rhythm and he jumped down on his knees. He jammed his left hand down on the arch of her back and pressed the tip of his dick against her right ass cheek, rubbing it hard against the pillowy soft bubble.
"You like that big ass Daddy?"
"Fuck!"
N'Jadaka groaned and slapped his dick against her ass. His precum coated her skin and his dick slid all around feeling hot and dangerous in his hand. He slapped the other ass cheek several times leaving dark red-brown markings on her toasted brown skin. Yani liked that stinging pain and cried out for more. He was losing control. His vision became blurry from the sweat falling into his eyes.
"Get on your knees! Aw fuck, Yani! Hurry…get on your knees…'bout to bust a fat one. Wanna cum on your face…you know what I want…you know what I want!" he shouted.
Yani took her sweet time rising from her position. But she didn't stay on her knees. She sauntered over to the lounger and got cozy on her back, spreading her big thighs open.
"I want my husband…I want my husband right now," she said.
N'Jadaka stared at her earnest face and the beauty it contained. His entire body hummed with the thrilling sensation of lust and love and deepening desire. His dick was a heavy sword between his legs ready to be sheathed by a queen he loved with his entire heart, mind, body, and soul. He lowered his head and kissed her feet and made a trail with his lips all the way up her body. When he reached her lips, he gave her a small peck and lined his erection up with her receptive labia.
"I want my wife. I want my wife right now," he said to her with strong conviction.
The firelight revealed a shine in Yani's eyes that glowed like the stars above.
Everything slowed down.
His breathing.
His heart beat.
His mind.
All there was in that moment of exquisite time was her.
Yani.
The woman who brought him back from the land of the living dead.
The woman who loved him whole and free.
His wife.
His.
He entered her body slowly, burning into his memory the sensation of her vagina closing around his girth, holding him like no other woman could. Resting his forehead against hers, their eyes connected and locked together. He placed his hands into fists at her sides and grunted his satisfaction with a slow lovemaking that had him enthralled.
God she took that dick!
He closed his eyes and gasped at how tight and deep she was. When he was able to open his eyes again while savoring the sweet thrusts he gave her, he knew in his spirit he would be lost to her love forever. The thought of how easily he could've lost her on that island swarmed over him like a tsunami of watery heat in his bones, and he wept, fearful of how close his life could've gone down the drain if he hadn't found her and built a connection.
Yani cradled his face with her hands and wiped away his tears that threatened to fall on her. He shifted his weight and she wrapped her legs around his waist, giving him room to thrust harder into her.
His queen. His wife.
Yani.
She made love to him like no other and he reciprocated. His mind wandered for a second at a memory. Who was the lover he once chastised for trying to fuck him like that when it was better suited for a man who deserved her? He was at M.I.T. at the time…early twenties. Cocksure and slanging dick like a fiend. The woman had been much older than him and fell in love with him so fast that he felt bad for leaving her with unrequited feelings. Shaun knew her…a big fine…
Renata.
Yeah, that was her. He had been right to warn Renata about fucking men like that. That was husband territory and the woman that rightfully deserved his tender loving care would have it for as long as he lived. The wisdom of his youth flooded his limbs and he kissed Yani while thrusting his soul into her depths. He needed her to feel his love and devotion. She hugged him tight.
"N'Jadaka…my love…my everything," she said.
"Yes," he said, rocking into her in a steady love tempo. "Yes…yes…baby…yes."
Husband things.
Her mouth parted but no sound came out. Her eyes never wavered from his. Her pussy swallowed his dick with artful decadence. Every thrust he gave ripped a groan from him as well as her, and after awhile, it became a steady metronome of sound. Even the forest quieted down to listen to their lovemaking.
Yani's pussy was a gushy fortress of primal delight. He glanced down to watch his dick move in and out, stuffing her full of thick dick, stretching her with divine care. Giving him pussy like that, he definitely knew he would have her pregnant in a few months. She made the idea of pulling out a sin before Bast and Ogum. He had fought aliens from other galaxies, had Gods speak to him directly and ride his body within his own flesh, but none of those experiences were as profound as making love to Yani.
He gestured for her to turn around so he could take her from behind and waited for her to get into a comfortable position. He sank back into her with a hearty shout of her name and gripped her waist. She clutched the back of the lounger for stability. Slowly gyrating his hips, he gave Yani the backshots she needed as her man. With reckless abandon, she threw her ass back on him causing loud thunderous claps of her ass cheeks. He held back from plunging into her again and let Yani do all the fucking while he watched with half closed eyelids. Her grip on his dick made his balls ache to release. She twisted her hips and pushed into him at a new angle that tugged on his length with a new sensation.
"Dassit, fall back on that dick. Good girl…show me how you own this dick…show me…dassit. That's all yours, Yani... right there…right there…yank on this dick with that tight pussy baby."
She looked back at him while she bounced on his dick. It was that daring look in her eyes that made her lethal during sex. The look clarified that no one else could fuck him like she did. She was the big dick assassin and she snapped that fat ass against his groin to remind him that she was not to be toyed with. Flexing her back muscles, she started really cooking on his dick, twisting her waist from side to side the way she did when she danced seductively on a dance floor. Her ass moved like water with such fluidity that he squeezed his eyes shut again to keep himself from nutting before he was ready. He grit his teeth and huffed agitated air, suppressing the yell that built up in his throat and threatened to bellow out like a raging elephant.
Yani pushed the lounge chair's back support until it was flat. She lowered her face and kept her eyes locked on his as she arched her back into a more visually pleasing display that tooted her ass higher for his pleasure.
She knew what she was doing.
Setting him up for the kill-strike on his dick. Her pussy was already doing stunts on his shaft with all the concentrated squeezing. Using his large hands, he pulled her cheeks apart to admire the visual of tight pink pussy throbbing all around his pulsing erection. Locked on her target, her eyes narrowed watching him. He had something for her ass though that would mess up her goal to end him.
N'Jadaka lifted onto his feet and fucked her froggy style. That position gave his fat sack the ammunition angle to continually smack into her swollen clit harder. His switch up worked, and Yani's face transformed from a look of deadly accuracy into one of submissive bliss.
"Oh…oh…oh…oh…" she panted softly and repeatedly.
His balls and the thickness of his dick stretching her caused the right amount of friction to render her lost in the sauce. She had that faraway look in her glassy stare.
"MmmHmmm…thought you had me gone. Now I gotta teach you how to behave," he barked at her.
Yani whimpered and chewed on her bottom lip. Her shiny eyes looked more watery and ready to spill tears. He rubbed on her booty, smacking it on both sides, luxuriating in the recoil as it bounced in his hands.
"Not here," he said glancing up at the treehouse.
Reluctantly, he pulled out from her tightness and lifted her gently in his arms. She rested her head against his neck and circled her arms around his wide shoulders.
"I will cum inside you way up there…where my ugogo lived high above the ground…among these magnificent trees. I want the old ones who passed on to hear us and know that we're building a new nation," he whispered in her ear.
He strode across the peaceful landscape carrying Yani past the dying fire and the gurgling of the mineral spring. S'Bu and Unathi returned from prowling their territory and watched the king with his queen.
"You two stay here and watch this place. Stay," he commanded.
Unathi gave a subdued growl as if responding to N'Jadaka. Both panthers slinked gracefully near the fire pit and hunkered down like two giant loaves of black bread.
N'Jadaka walked up the treehouse stairway and carried Yani into the largest bedroom pod that was decorated like a honeymoon suite for the royal couple. Tropical flowers were placed around the bedroom in natural grass woven baskets. Heavily scented green candles burned inside copper wall sconces with protective glass coverings. Two royal purple robes transported from their palace home hung up on wall hooks. With the whitewashing of the walls and the flickering candles, the bedroom glowed with a subdued golden light.
Their bedding was a soft ancient pallet covered in a hand woven plum-colored quilt that had been lovingly repaired and refabricated over centuries, but still held the stitches of his greatest grandfather's mother.
Above them was a skylight where the ancient ones had trimmed away the canopy to let in starlight and sunshine. He made out the Wakandan zodiac sign of the baobab tree among the stars twinkling their light into the room. Placing Yani on her feet, he pulled back the quilt and soft sheets.
"Give me your hand," he said.
Yani placed her left hand in his and helped lower her onto the unbelievably soft and supportive pallet. It must've been made from some special material that deceived the eye into thinking it was too thin to handle two grown bodies that were about to get busy. He pushed two large pillows against the wall creating back support.
N'Jadaka held Yani in his arms and kissed her. Their tongues played a gentle game of hide and seek in their mouths. He fondled her breasts and whispered her name over and over, praising her touches all over his body. He nibbled her earlobe, licked the shell of her ear, and groaned while listening to her needy moans. The wide open wings of her labia beckoned him to plunge back inside her pussy. The stickiness between her thighs became molten lava on his hand. She crawled on top of him and guided his twitching erection inside her sugary walls.
"Oh…Killmonger," she sighed.
"Fuck!"
Yani leaned forward and her breasts smothered his face. She rode him hard and fast. He sucked on her nipples and tried stuffing as much of her breasts into his mouth as possible. She started bucking and he cried out with enough passion to make his throat raw. He gripped her big titties and held on to them while she fucked the shit out of him.
"Dammit! Fuck me Yani…keep going like that…oh shiitttttt!"
She leaned back and her breasts bounced like an earthquake rumbled their treehouse. His nutsack reacted to the vision, the hot semen held there on the brink of shooting out from his dick if he let her ride like she was on a mechanical bull much longer.
His lips bunched up and he started begging for mercy.
"Don't make me cum yet baby…please…I'm not ready for you to pull this nut out yet…Yani…Yani…please…"
She laughed and pushed her tits together, extending his torture. Her pussy made splashing noise all over his dick. A creamy stickiness covered his erection and more coated it as her arousal danced into a tipping point. The way his dick stretched her pussy lips as she went up and down paralyzed him into inaction and he took the pounding of her ass on his thighs like a champ. A lesser man would've tapped out a long time ago. He was on the verge and she knew it, and that knowledge turned her into a dick riding tyrant.
"Oh my God…Oh my God….shit, shit, shit, Yani you fucking bitch! Ahhhhh!"
There was no shame in a man screaming because his wife rocked his world. No shame in his voice going up two octaves either. He lifted his body and hugged her tight, slowing down her plans to kill him with pussy. The king planted kisses all over her throat and face before taking her lips. Distracted, Yani went limp in his arms and he flipped her over onto her back.
He plunged in deep, shocking her system. She clawed his back with those rose-gold nails and the pain of breaking skin seeped into his body as pleasure. He pressed his weight down into her and gave her what she wanted. The righteous pounding from a king.
Grunting and cursing, he looked at Yani directly, their warm moaning breath co-mingling
"Fuck me Killmonger! Fuck me! Fuck me! Fuck me!"
No noise came out of his mouth. Eventually it stopped coming out of her mouth too. The eroticism of silence shrouded them. Only their overstimulated bodies keened and shrieked the ecstasy drowning their pores.
He hit that sweet spot inside her walls and Yani's mouth opened wider and the tears finally fell. A seismic orgasm rocked her into a silent writhing. Her pussy tightened and quickly rippled a barrage of contractions up and down his dick.
He let go.
His hefty dick swelled within her walls and the first tsunami of cum spilled into her. He hunched his back so tight that he couldn't even focus his eyesight anymore. He became caught in a twilight world of physical euphoria and never needing to live again because he shot his entire life through his dick.
The second wave of his release helped him find his voice and he hollered into the wall the praise songs of his father's gods. Yani stroked the nape of his neck and he groaned out to Ogum to save him before he passed out.
Ogum answered and a soothing sensation trickled along his spine and helped him gather the strength to separate himself from his wife. The sensation rooted itself at the top of his head and he shifted to his knees and gripped his dick that remained erect. Yani squirmed seductively underneath him and kept her gaze on the wide head of his shaft.
"Suck my dick," he demanded.
Yani acquiesced with a smirk on her face. She knew what was coming.
She gave his dick little kisses first, allowing it to recover from his first orgasm of the night. When he glared down at her, she placed the head into her mouth and suckled the ridge and slipped the tip of her tongue into his slit. He groaned and stood up, widening his stance and jerking on his pipe.
Yani worked his dick with a good little slut mouth. She made it sloppy and spit on the tip several times letting saliva fall on her breasts.
"Open that mouth wider…dassit…you know how to handle all that…I know you well girl…made you my wife so I can have you whenever I want…"
She moaned all over his dick, and the vibration curled his toes. His balls throbbed and he didn't warn her verbally at all that he was cumming again. He aimed for the front of her face and she knew from experience what was up. She tilted her head back and he painted steamy white streaks all over the left side of her cheek and neck.
Yani gazed at his cement-hard dick and knew the night was going to be vigorous and long. Glory to Bast and that heart-shaped herb! He would give her pussy a little respite though. Lowering his big body back down on the pallet, he pulled her down in front of him and asked her to lie on her back, keeping her knees up and her thighs open. He wanted to watch his cum drizzle out of her pussy. She obliged as he expected. Situating the pillows in a comfortable position behind his back, N'Jadaka stroked his dick and watched his wife hold open her pussy lips.
"Push it out if you can," he asked.
She didn't have to do too much because a heavy flow came out and slowly became clear as the air hit it.
"Can I try to get you pregnant?" he asked.
Yani grinned knowing that thought got him off the most and she played into it by gently rubbing on her clit and touching all of her delicate piercings one by one for his entertainment.
"You want to cum deep inside of me and put a baby in here?" she cooed.
He heard her angelic voice but only saw the drenched wet pink she caressed.
"I wanna fuck you and put a new baby in your pussy so bad, Yani!"
"Will you fuck me good, Killmonger?"
"Fuck yes…"
She had him gritting his teeth again as she rubbed that pretty vulva slowly.
"I might be pregnant now. You put a lot in me," she teased.
He groaned and his dick jumped hot and ready in his hand.
"Maybe we should put the special lubricant inside me so I can get ready for that big dick again…huh?" she moaned softly.
He groaned louder knowing good and well that special lubricant helped her deal with long continual fucking from him. She was ready to play Lets Make A Baby. But only to amuse him.
He came hard in his hand. With her legs open, he rejoiced in the satisfaction of having an orgasm by watching her masturbate. The quivering in her pussy pushed more of his cum out into a pool of wetness on the sheets. He milked his dick thinking about how many times he was going to fuck her before the sun rose again.

bounce-back to a throwback.
Erik “Killmonger” Stevens x Black!reader
warnings; The n-word, fluff, angst (only for a lil bit)
summary; (this is a continuation of “his lil secret”) During Erik’s live-stream, you two decided on playing 21 questions, which turns into a time of remembrance. (this sounds like a hallmark movie-)
an; ya’ll done ate his lil secret UP- anyways, enjoy! <3 ALSO, a huuggee thank you to @ljstraightnochaser for giving me ideas! Couldn’t do this without you, boo!
Tumblr media
“Bring lil’ mama back. Aht aht! Nobody calls her that except for me! Don’t play!”
“Babygir- Hold on now! Ya’ll niggas ain’t gonna sit there and call my baby babygirl like she’s yours.”
“Where did Y/N go? She’s downstairs eating her lil mozzarella sticks, still mad at me for not making them.”
“When your girl comes back, tell her to holla at a homebo- Nigga i’ll fuck you up- Matter of fact, BLOCKED. Stop fucking around with me, you ain’t my homeboy.”
You were sitting at the dining room table, eating the mozzarella sticks you made just a few minutes ago, while watching Erik on his Instagram live. Of course, he was just upstairs, but you decided to just let him take over his live for a little bit.
After you left you and Erik’s bedroom, Your Instagram blew all the way up. Over the course of 9 minutes, your page went from 10k to Almost 100k. You didn’t really like the attention you got, but you weren't really phased about it either.
“Is she still watching the live? I don’t know.” Erik said, still on live.
You quickly commented on the live before the subject changed.
‘i’m still here :) what’s up?’
A couple of seconds passed before Erik saw the comment and smiled.
“Hey baaabbyyyeeee!” Erik yelled. You could hear him all the way upstairs..
‘you’re so loud i can hear you downstairs 🙄’
“Sorry, Mamas. You almost finished eating?”
‘yup! just gimme a sec to put my plate in the sink.’
“Aight. Make sure to come back upstairs!”
You hurried up and put your plate in the sink and dashed up the stairs, clutching your phone in your hand. As you walked up to the door, you turned off your phone and put it in your back pocket.
When you opened up the door to your shared bedroom, Erik looked up and dramatically gasped.
“Oh my god. A goddess walked into my room!” He set his phone on the nightstand and faced it towards where you were standing. He got up, rushed over to you, and threw his arms around your waist. You places your arms around his neck, while laughing as he spun you around softly.
“Babes, I missed you!” He kissed your forehead.
“Baby, it’s only been like twenty minutes, you’re fine!” You said while laughing.
He picked you up, which automatically made your legs wrap around his waist, while his arms stayed around your waist.
“Girl, you trip me out.” He said while laughing.
He sat down on the floor while you were still clinging onto him. You looked to the side and saw his phone propped on his lamp, still on live. You got off of his lap and crawled to his phone to read some of the comments while Erik dramatically fell unto the floor and started to whine.
‘she’s baacckkkk!’
‘ya’ll making me feel mad lonely :(’
‘Erik picked out a good one! 🤤’
‘mama got some sexc eyes thougghhh’
ew-
‘god clearly got favorites smh’
“Why did you leeavveee meeee!” Erik whined while squirming on the floor.
“Because I wanted to. Case closed.” You said while still looking at his phone.
“But I wanted you to stay, Babyyygirlll.”
“I was bored over there, but I’m entertained over here. So, I’m staying here, babe.”
‘PERIOD POOH-’
“Well okay.” Erik said while walking over to you and sitting on the floor beside you. “How can I make you not bored with me, ma?”
An idea popped into your head.
“Let’s play a game. Twenty-one questions.”
Erik grabbed his glasses, which were discarded on his dresser, and placed them on his face.
“Alright. Let’s play. I’ll go first.” He said while facing his whole body towards you.
“Question One, What’s one of my bad habits?”
“You leave the toilet seat up.”
“That isn’t a ba-”
“I fell into the toilet almost five times this week.” You said with a straight face.
Erik started to say something, but closed his mouth immediately when it opened.
“M’kay, my turn!” You said with a grin.
“Do you regret spilling that hot ass drink on me when we first met?”
“Hell no! I wouldn’t have met the love of my life if I didn’t.” Erik said while hugging your waist.
‘That’s how you guys met?!’
‘omg please tell us how you two met!’
You looked down at the man baby who was looking at the comments also while laying his head on your thigh. You stroked the side of Erik’s face and sighed.
“Alright, alright. I’ll tell you guys how us two met.”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
“Hello, may I get a Grande Caramel Macchiato?”
“Y/N, stop acting so formal with me, girl. I got you!”
Currently, you were in Starbucks visiting your friend, Ebony, while she works. You usually don’t drink Starbucks, but it was cold outside and your body was begging for something hot.
“Thanks girl.” You walked to a table, sat down, and pulled out your phone, patiently waiting for your drink.
After a minute, the bell for the door rang. Four guys walked into the Starbucks and sat down at the booth diagonal from your table. After a few seconds, one man stood up and went to the cash register to order.
“Girl, come get your drink. It’s on the counter!” Ebony said while going back into the kitchen.
You stood up, went to the counter, and grabbed your drink. The drink wasn’t as hot as you would imagine on the outside, but you knew the second that drink would hit your tongue, hell would be loose in your house.
As you went to turn back to go to your table, an elbow came in contact with your drink, making it splash all over your shirt and partially your face.
“Oh shit!” The man in front of you exclaimed while running to get a paper towel from the bathroom.
You yelped and started to frantically fan yourself with your hand to at least try to cool yourself down. The man came back with some wet and dry paper towels and handed it over to you. You snatched it out of his hands and started to clean yourself off while the man was still watching you.
“What? You gonna wait for me to get another hot drink just so you can spill it on me?” You said, irritated.
“I’m sorry-”
“Sorry doesn’t fix all of this!” At this point, you were irritated and just wanted to go home.
The man sighed and shoved his hands into his hoodie pockets.
“At least let me make it up to you. I honestly didn’t mean for all of this to happen..” The man said, sheepishly.
You weighted your options for about one minute until you caved in.
“Alright....”
“Here.” The man took off his hoodie and gave it to you. “Go to the bathroom, take off your shirt and put that on.”
Without responding you went into the bathroom and changed. The second you put on the hoodie, you got hit with a beautiful scent. You breathed into the hoodie and smelled Vanilla and cologne. You immediately felt warmth from that hoodie and never wanted to take it off. You walked out of the bathroom to be met with the man holding a Grande Caramel Macchiato.
“Here. I promise I won’t spill it on you.”
You took the drink while he took your stained shirt.
“C’mon. Let’s go.”
“Go? Go where?”
He chuckled.
“It’s a surprise. Just come on.”
He started to walk while you stayed behind. He looked behind himself and saw that you didn’t move an inch and huffed.
“Girl, come on.” He said with a dramatic expression.
“We’re strangers. What makes you think that you’re gonna take me somewhere?”
He chuckled.
“My name’s Erik. What’s yours?”
“Y/N.”
“There, we’re not strangers. Now come on. I’m trying to make this up to you.”
You looked over to Ebony who was persuading you to go with his silently. You giggled softly and gave in.
“Fine... I’ll go..”
Erik excused himself from the three other guys and went to his car while you followed him. He unlocked his car while you stood there in awe. As he opened the passenger side of he car, he looked at you and chuckled.
“You like it?”
You walked up to the passenger side and sat down in the seat.
“Like it? It’s gorgeous.”
Erik winked at you and shut the door. He walked over to the other side, got in, and started the car. He grabbed two sunglasses, he put one pair on and handed the other pair to you. You carefully grabbed the sunglasses and put them on. Erik turned on the air and looked over to you.
“You know, i’m truly sorry about spilling that drink on you.”
You put the Starbucks drink in his cup-holder and looked over to him.
“It’s alright.” You said with a smile.
Erik smiled back and pulled out of the Starbucks parking lot.
-------
“Erik, I can’t accept this-”
“Yes you can-”
“Erik, no I can-”
“Just take it.”
“No, I’m not taking i-”
Erik shoved his credit card into her hand.
“Ma, just take the card. Go crazy, okay? Just make sure to buy me something.”
Currently, you two were inside the mall at the food court. Erik wanted you to buy some stuff with his credit card as a way to say “sorry”. Of course you believe that he was sorry, but giving a girl your credit card and just saying “go crazy with it” is another type of sorry. The best kind.
“Alright.” You said. You breathed in the scent of his hoodie before you two started to walk inside the mall.
“So... What do you work as?”
“Hm? Oh, I’m a rapper.” Erik said bluntly.
“Like... A soundcloud rapper?” You absolutely hated soundcloud rappers. Most of them were offbeat and had no style whatsoever. You were just praying that he wasn’t a wannabe rapper inside your head.
“Oh hell no!” He said dramatically. “Ma, I have a record deal. I’m the real thing.”
“Oh really?” You said sarcastically. “Lemme listen to one of your songs them.”
He handed you his airpods and unlocked his phone. He went to his music app and clicked on an album.
“You ready?” He asked.
You put his airpods into your ears and gave a thumbs up. He hit the play button and put his phone back into his pocket. As you listened to his song, you were in love. Rap wasn’t really your go-to, but you couldn’t lie; is was a whole bop.
When the song was over, you handed his airpods over to him and he clipped them back unto his belt loop on his pants.
“So, how was it?”
You stopped and looked over to him.
“What’s your rapper name?”
He chuckled.
“Killmonger.”
“Well, Killmonger...” You said slowly, which made his shift a little bit.
“That was amazing.”
“Why thank you Y/N.” He said sarcastically.
----------
The shopping was over and you two were overflowed with bags. You had like two small bags while Erik carried fifteen large bags from different stores. It was getting pretty late so you two decided to call it a night. You and Erik made it to his car, put the bags in the backseat, and got into the car. Erik sat still for a second before turning towards you.
“Gimme your phone.” He said with a blank face.
“Why?”
“Because if you want to go on another shopping spree, then you can just call me and i’ll put it in my schedule.” He said with a smile.
“Okayy.” You gave him your phone and he put his number in. He gave you your phone back and smirked.
You opened the contacts app and found a new contact; “Sugar Daddy 😈💵🖤”
“Nigga I know you didn’t-”
“But I did.” He started the car.
“And don’t think about changing it, either!”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
“anndd... That’s how I met him.” You looked down to see Erik fast asleep on your thigh with his arm still wrapped around your waist. You looked up to look at the comments for a few seconds:
‘sugar daddy?? he was wildin back then-’
‘ya’ll cute or whateva😗’
‘where is erik? he just disappeared-’
“Erik’s still here, he’s just asleep on my lap.”
‘AWWW’
‘But didn’t he say in one of his songs, “We niggas dont sleep??” That’s how you KNOW niggas be lying.”
You chuckled and started to stroke the side of his face, which made him smile in the sleep a little.
“Alright guys, I’m going to end the live here. Bye!” You whisper-yelled to the phone.
‘byee!’
‘Awh... Byee!!’
‘take care!’
‘Don’t forget to call a homeboy up if homie isn’t treating you right 😉😜😏’
You rolled your eyes and ended the live.
All that was left to do was to get Erik on the bed.
Oh boy..

Let me know
Do I still got time to grow?
Things ain't always set in stone
That be known let me know
“Welcome to New York City!” Sounds of the bus coming to a halt echo through the terminal causing you to jolt awake from your nap. “Damn, we here already?” You shield your eyes and stretch your arms wide as the bright overhead lights flickered on. “Watch your step, don’t forget your to grab your luggage from under the bus, and have a safe night.” With that, the driver stepped off the bus and assisted passengers with their bags. You continue to gather your book bag and black pea coat as the lasting passengers file off the bus, once together you stand and follow behind them. The winds were surprisingly brisk, nothing you weren’t use to but  you should’ve brought a bigger coat. ‘I should get somewhere warm.’ You thought buttoning your coat as far as it goes and rushing into the station, past the judgemental eyes of travelers wondering why you were wearing a thin coat in 20 degree weather. Reaching for your phone you press the home button, once, twice, nothing. Just the battery low symbol reminding you that you let your phone die before you left the city, you’d rather not be in contact with anyone. “Guess I’m doing this the old fashioned way” You walked through the revolving door of the station into the cold night air again, this time closing your coat tighter around you to conceal some warmth. Holding your thumb outward patiently waiting for a taxi to pull over your way but they all stopped the people either a few blocks ahead or a few blocks behind you. “Prejudice as hell” you mumbled it under your breath, just as you’re about to give up, a taxi pull up in front of you. Thank god. Anymore time out there you'd be frozen to death.
“Thank you so much, I’ve been waiting forever. I thought I’d never get a ride.” you chuckle sliding into the cab placing your bag next to you.
“No problem, you looked cold as hell in that itty bitty ass coat” the driver laughed. His voice was surprised you, it was musky, deep, and warm enough to make you forget about the weather outside the car. Looking up from your seat belt to get a better look at your driver, you were in shock. From what you could see through the rear view mirror, the man was handsome, his eyes dark and his dreads were well kept braided to the back. If only you could see the rest of his face, yo hoped the rest of it lived up to your expectations.
“Where to?”
“Huh?” you were so distracted you didn’t even realize he asked you a question.
“If you can ‘huh’ you can hear, damn ma, you deaf or somethin’ I asked you where you going” he was becoming frustrated, he adjusted his mirror to see somewhat of your eyes in the darkness of the car.
“Oh, uhh” you hadn't really thought about where you were going specifically, just that you didn't want to be where you were. “I dont know”
“Huh?” he questioned, eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.
“If you can ‘huh’ you can hear” you used his words against him.
“Ma, get the hell out of my car” clearly irritated he unlocked the door.
“Wait! I'm not from around here, I dont really know where to go” you protested, hoping he'd reconsider and let you stay.
“I should’ve known, you wearin that small ass coat.” he locked the doors again and pulled away from the bustation taking off down the street. “How about I give you a lil tour then and we’ll see where things go from there” he smirked. You could see a dimple form on the side of his face. ‘Adorable’ you thought to yourself. “Yeah, that sounds great” you smiled and leaned against the window, it’ll be one hell of a cab fair but seeing the city would be worth it in the end, you’ll probably find a hotel while he drove you around.
“Oh yeah, Im YN. YN LN” how rude of you to ask him his name before getting into the car.
“Erik. Erik Stevens” he returned plainly.
You took a moment to admire the interior of the car, it was clean. Really clean, unlike other taxies you’ve been in, there was a faint smell of cologne, not too strong or soft, it was just right. There was hardly any decorations in the car, just a chain with a ring on the end hanging from the rear view mirror, as a rosary would, you could sense it was important but you didn’t want to question it. It didn’t seem like any of your business.
Seems like street lights, glowing, happen to be
Just like moments passing in front of me
So I hopped in the cab and I paid my fare
A faint sound of music coming from the radio to kill the awkward silence. However, that wasn’t enough for him. “So, where you from” Erik looked toward you through the mirror. “Oh, I’m from Chicago” you glanced back. “Aw, word? That’s surprising, I’d  think you’d know better that to wear that thin ass coat outside then, it’s cold as fuck out there. Got you on the street shakin like a stripper in church.” You rolled your eyes, you could sworn you heard him smack his teeth at your action but you chose to ignore it. “It’s alright, I didn’t want anything weighing me down”  hence why you only have your backpack with you, and that only contains your portable easel, some brushes, and your Macbook. “Hm, so how long you stayin?” “Uh, I don’t really know” “You just all over the place, huh ma.” “Well I know but I don’t. I’ll just be here until my feet take me somewhere else. could be days, weeks, years, even hours. I know where I’m supposed to be, I’ll know once I get there. You know?” You stare outside the window, the streets were surprisingly empty for a city that never sleeps. The lights reflecting off of the buildings were intense, mesmerizing, and inspiring. They focused themselves on the taxi as it moved through the night, like a spot light it made you feel as if  you two were supposed to be the only ones in existence. “Yeah, I know” he agreed. “But I’d rather have a plan. Something I can sit with for a while and perfect it until it’s foolproof. I know where I’m going too but I just can’t base that shit on feeling tho, sometimes they can be deceiving and lead you to a dead end rather than your destination. I get you though ma, I’d rather be on the move than sittin in these streets.” he was right, you should’ve thought about this before you left the city. You couldn’t keep doing this every time something went wrong, and if you were to do it again, at least book a hotel first.
“You right” you admitted something you didn't do often
“Damn right i'm right I can't remember a time I was wrong.” he turned the car down another street full of colorful lights and giant lit up billboards with random advertisements. “Since you a tourist, I should show you some tourist shit, this is Times Square don't nobody really come here but tourist who most likely get finessed.” Erik pointed at each building and tried to explain them the best he could, he didn’t know what most of them were called. He just identified them as ‘the one with the big ass lights’ or ‘ the one with the little ass lights.
“You not from here are you?” you asked, trying to look at him the best you could, through your teary eyes from laughing too hard, it’s been awhile since you’ve done that.
“Nah, I’m from Oakland. I moved here after I had a run in with my cousin a couple years back” you weren't going to ask why, you knew your limits and it seemed as if he wasn't going to answer them if you asked anyway, and you didn't want to ruin the moment. You just readjusted yourself and looked out the window.
“What about you, why you here?”
You didn't know how you felt telling a stranger about your personal information but since he shared a little bit about him you'd share the bare minimum with him. “Some stuff back home happened and I decided to remove myself from the situation and come here, it was last minute but I needed to leave.” you couldn't go into detail otherwise you'd cry again, you’ve been strong for weeks now it was time to stop crying and move on, no matter how much you loved him he would want you to. You just couldn’t stop thinking about what you were suppose to do together, get married, have kids. But he had to  fight, what did he have to prove? He was already an amazing boxer as is, he just had to fight in that match. And now he’s gone.
Life just ain't fair
Erik could sense the tension grow inside the car and he changed the subject. “Let's go get something to eat, I’m buyin. You've been out and about and I’m sure you're starving”
“Yeah, thank you.” you blink back your tears and smile.
Erik pulled into the parking lot of a 24 hour pizza parlor because he sworn up and down that Chicago’s pizza was trash compared to New York’s. He pulls into the parking lot and stops the car. He gets out the car and walks toward the doors, “let's go princess!” he calls out you rush out and jog to catch up behind him.  Erik was taller than you thought, and swole as hell. He remind you of someone.
“I’m not a princess.” you stated crossing your arms and dropping your hip. He turns around fully facing you for the first time since you met and you were at lost for words. “Then what are you, princess?”
‘Adonis?’ you uncross your arms and stepped closer to him. This is impossible, Donnie died after in match a month ago but Erik looked so similar to him, everything down to the slightest detail, minus the dreads and the scruffy beard. You both looked into each others eyes, it was like you were lost in time, like you're supposed to be there for the rest of your life. You reach up to touch his face just in case it was your imagination but he grabs your hand, it feels just like his. “ you good, YN? You look like you're about to cry” you stepped back away from Erik and wiped a stray tear away. “Yeah, let's go eat.” you smile up at him.
See I know my destination, I'm just not there
