Fuel the Pyre - Chapter 5

Summary: For almost a decade now, life has been peaceful for the royal family of Katolis. All out war is becoming a distant memory as efforts to unite the continent continue. Open borders let more than friends in, however, and whispers of dangers lurking in the shadows are growing louder and more insistent.

Callum, Rayla and their adopted daughter Tio have bee trying to ignore the growing unease as best they can, but when the threat comes banging at their door, they can no longer turn a blind eye.

They exited the throne room, Rayla still carrying Tio. She had perked up a little since Callum had calmed down, but she was still pouting and looking grumpy. She did go to him when he reached for her this time, and he relaxed a little as he held her.

“I’m assuming I missed out on a lot.” Rayla reached for one of his hands, her head moving in the direction of the dungeons. “Care to fill me in?”

“Yeah, of course.” Callum nodded, shifting Tio on his hip, his mind still reeling. “There’s, yeah…a lot.”

“Let’s swing by the kitchen and see if Barius has some jelly tarts.” Rayla grinned at Tio, then smiled warmly at Callum. “I know I need something sweet and delicious to take my mind off that whole mess. And we probably need some treats to keep this little crazy busy while we talk.”

so I decided that they would have a child and if it will only be one and it was a complicated baby because they didn't really know if it was going to be born

It brought them some scares, starting with the fact that it was an egg similar to techno ones except that it didn't shine but then they went to several doctors (b&r and laguna) and indeed there was something inside, alive and healthy

The second was at birth because holy crap, it was gray, not exactly gray, there was still some color and in fact she wasn't sad or scared but it definitely worried them but as he grew he took on his color and it didn't really affect him that much.

Physically she is taller than Branch but not as tall as Synth, her hair is short, what shines most about her is her heart both physically and metaphorically.She is very similar to Branch in attitude/personality but just as optimistic as Synth, she is not calm, she was never calm, she was always everywhere being curious about everything and she loves mathematics.

Pedrinho, Saci and Tio Barnabé

Laito: What do you have for me, Slut-chan~?

Ayato: Yeah! Speal it, Fake Blue!

Maria: Alright. Subaru is a little boy called Pedrinho who has a huge adventurous spirit. He loves visiting the farm and specially listening to the stories Uncle Barnabe, who's Laito's character, has to tell him. One day, he tells the boy the legend of the Saci Perere. A one legged spirit who moves around in a whirlwind, causing problems and playing pranks.

Ayato: One legged... That's me then right? What else?

Maria: He tells the boy the process to capture the Saci. That way the spirit becomes attached to him. All he needs is a straw sieve and a bottle in a windy day. The bottle must have a stopper closing it with a cross drawn on top to prevent the Saci from escaping.

Laito: Nfu So we are turning Ayato into a genie in a bottle? I'm not against it~ Fufufu

Subaru: Hehe Dumbest genie in history.

Ayato: Shut up, you two!

And you, Fake Blue, should give Ore-sama a better clue! That one is horrible!

Laito: Come on, Ayato-kun~ At least try having a bit of fun~

Let's see, maybe the garden is a good place to look. If you need wind to get a Saci, no better place than outside.

Subaru: Right. Let's get this over with.

And you don't stay too close to that old man, alright! It's bad enough you let him cast such stupid spell on you!

Laito: Nfu How cute, Subaru-kun is all worried about Slut-chan's safety~

Subaru: Tch! O-Of course not! I just don't want this to get worst than it already is!

The sun was beginning to rise as Callum finally spotted a suitable clearing to rest. He had hoped to make it to the Nexus in one flight, but the winds were against him, and he couldn’t focus enough to change them. Alighting on the forest floor, he banished his wings, rolling is stiff shoulders for a moment before he began to undo the ties of Tio’s wrap. His hands shook and he told himself it was from the effort of flying.

“Dada?” Tio asked, having been unnaturally quiet the entire time. She normally enjoyed flying, the Skywing in her, he assumed, but there hadn’t been a giggle or even a murmur from her the entire time. He had felt her wake not long into their flight, but she hadn’t spoken. Not once.

“Yes, sweetheart?” His voice cracked as he pulled the last of the wrap away, slumping to the forest floor as he held her tight against his chest. He felt weak. Empty. He’d tried to control the winds, to get them to the Nexus as quickly as possible, but his mind raced with thoughts of Rayla. Alone, abandoned in the castle.

“Where’s Mama?” Tio looked up at him, her dark eyes wide and terrified.
