Happy Birthday
“Shotoooooooo” was the voice that rang out, the voice that brought a grin to Shoto Todoroki’s face as he was poked and prodded in the cheek, an instrumental version of “Happy Birthday” playing in the background.
He almost didn’t want to open his eyes; this was perfect enough as is.
But eventually he did.
“Does IcyHot just never wake up?” The voice of a certain blond grumbled from what sounded like the doorframe, causing Shoto’s eyes to flutter open like a motherfucking Disney Prince.
What he opened his eyes to was basically straight out of a Disney movie in his own mind anyways.
Y/n was there, right in front of him, smiling like the angel they were as they pressed gentle kisses to his face.
“Morning, birthday boy,” they mumbled against his cheek, peppering him with kisses until he couldn’t help but laugh, sitting up in his bed. “Good morning, Y/n. Everyone.” He said with a nod, barely acknowledging the other people in the doorway, of which there were quite a lot. But his eyes were focused on the person in front of him, sitting on his bed and grinning like it was their own birthday.
It was refreshing, the clear excitement, all for him. All from the person he adored most, his partner, his friend, his crazy, wild, sweet, utterly wonderful lover.
He was in a perfect state of bliss the whole morning, where he was dragged to the table and fed numerous amounts of food, all tasty in their own ways, but much better when he had a certain someone on his lap, cradling his face while they fed him strawberries and eggs and toast. He was promised soba for lunch, just how he liked it. He was happy.
Really, truly happy, a happy he hadn’t felt in… ever.
He didn’t even have time to change, clad in his pajamas all day, hair tousled and teeth unbrushed, to which no one complained, and yet he felt anxious. He tried to ignore it, he knew why it was there. All he could think about was what would my old man say?
That wasn’t a thought he wished to have at the moment. It was his birthday, after all, he didn’t need to worry about things like hair and showers. He was 17 now.
It wasn’t until lunch was being made, by Bakugo, who had been nominated best cook a week ago (and was secretly proud of it), when Y/n wrapped their arms around his neck from behind, pressing kisses to his cheek and temple and whispered “Would you like to get dressed, my dearest heart?” to which he nodded and stood up, his mind hazy as he was led back to his dorm and into his bathroom, his hair being brushed for him, and his clothes being picked out.
He deserved it, it was his special day, being doted on came with that. Package deal.
But clearly his mind was elsewhere, something he didn’t realize until Y/n’s hand was on his, which was halfway through pulling off his shirt. A rare blush formed on his cheeks as he yanked his shirt back onto his abdomen, mumbling half thought out apologies.
“Something on your mind, Shoto?” They asked quietly, worriedly, their hands still on his as he nodded solemnly.
He didn’t know what he wanted, he had everything he needed. His partner, his friends, food, gifts, cake (ok, the cake wasn’t quite ready, but he knew it was coming), his famil- oh.
Oh.
He looked back up at them, a sense of true and utter embarrassment on his face as he whispered, “I miss my family.”
Words he didn’t think he would say today.
Birthdays at the Todoroki household were not celebrated in a very… traditional way.
Shoto often got a pat on the back from his old man, and a gift from Natsuo and Fuyumi, often something they’d bought with money they’d scraped together (they were too virtuous, i.e. prideful, to use Enji’s credit card). It wasn’t a whole lot, but it was normal.
He hadn’t spent a birthday away from the house yet. It was an upsetting thought, the mixed emotions whirling around his pretty little head and bringing tears to his two toned eyes, which he wiped away with confusion.
It was a heartbreaking sight, he looked so confused and upset, and on his birthday. Y/n wouldn’t stand for that. Not their baby.
Shoto was led out of the room so fast he almost got whiplash, tripping over his own feet and protesting quietly (“Y/n, I never got changed-”) as she dragged him to the common room and sat him on the couch, nodding to Momo, who brought out a computer, already dialing Fuyumi.
Fuyumi picked up immediately, a smile on her face as she set her own computer down, revealing herself with Natsuo and Enji, all wearing party hats, some of them (ahem, Endeavor) trying to pull the cardboard triangles off. Fuyumi elbowed Natsuo, and they all broke out into the “Happy Birthday” song, pushing and nudging like the perfect, imperfect family they were.
All for Shoto.
He could barely keep it together, tears dripping down his face as he talked, conversed normally with his family, his soba being handed to him quietly.
It really was the best birthday he ever had.
The cake, the song, the kisses Y/n gave him, all the way to the last hour, where Y/n was cuddled up with him, hoping to watch his birthday come to its end.
They fell asleep before it ended.
Shoto Todoroki ended his birthday with a smile on his face, truly happy.
Happy Birthday, Shoto.

Night Terrors- Shoto Todoroki x Reader
You wake Shoto from a nightmare, and hold him to ease his sobs.
Tumblr media
You awoke to a rustling next to you. As you looked towards it, your heart broke seeing a sweating, whimpering Shoto. As you moved to soothe him, you flinched when you heard him scream.
Quickly moving toward your distressed husband, you shook him awake. "Baby! Baby wake up, it's just a dream." You insist, successfully waking up Shoto. As Shoto jerked awake, he looked at you with wide, tearful eyes.
"Shh, it's okay Baby. I'm going to grab your arm, mkay? I'm not going to hurt you." You soothe, slowly reaching for Shoto's arm. Shoto didn't say anything, he just watched as you gently guided his body onto your own. You successfully laid Shoto onto you, his head resting on your chest.
You didn't pry, if he wanted to tell you about it, he would. After a long moment of silence, you started to hear Shoto sobbing. Stressing out, you cradled his face, bringing it so he would look into your (e/c) eyes.
"Shhh it's okay. I'm here, you're here, and that's all that matters. He can't hurt you anymore." Shoto just shook his head, sending more tears down his beautiful face.
"T-Touya.. I m-miss Touya." Shoto whimpered, his grip tightening. "Oh Honey. I wish I could help you." Shoto just kissed your hand that cradled his face before digging his face into your chest, sobbing.
After a while his sobs died down, and instead you laid there in silence. One of his hands stroking your arm, while your hands ran up and down his back.
"(Y/n).. thank you." "Sho.. I'll never stop worrying about you, so please continue on letting me help you. You are truly the one person I love the most, and it physically hurts to see you in pain."
Shoto slowly got off you before sitting up on the bed, gently grasping at your hands to pull you up with him. "I don't deserve you." Shoto whispered, playing with a strand of you hair. "Of course you do Sho." You scoff, moving into his lap. Shoto just chuckled before kissing you softly.
You sat there for a few minutes, your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat, and his chin resting on your head. "Let's get back to bed." You yawn, causing Shoto to lay down, taking you with him. "Goodnight my silly prince." You giggle, causing Shoto to smile. "Goodnight my Love."

You wanted to a guard so bad. Your older brother was a higher up guard in the castle, and you wanted to be just like him, you wanted to protect the kingdom!
Your older brother, Izuku, didn’t exactly approve of being a guard but he knew that you were just a child and wanted to play as if you were a real guard. The royal family knew that as well, often letting you pretend that you ere a guard. Especially Prince Shoto.
You absolutely loved him, he was definitely your favorite member of the royal family. You often went out to find him, pretending to guard him while he was doing something as simple as reading in the library or sitting in his throne. He didn’t mind it though, seeing you as a little sister.
Although, strangely enough he hasn’t seen you today. Shoto couldn’t lie, he was a little worried. Not seeing you for a full day was uncommon and it was only natural for him to worry a bit. You were his favorite guard after all. Shoto stops at the sound of small sniffles. He turns the corner, seeing you barely as you’re hiding behind a throne in the empty throne room.
Shoto is going to talk but is cut off by the sight of you softly crying behind the throne. You wore a fake guard outfit made of materials you could easily find, pots and pans on your shoulders and a basket on your head to mimic a guard’s uniform. “Y/n, why are you back here?” Shoto asks simply, watching you get startled a bit from his sudden appearance.
You look back, bringing your knees up to your chest. “One of the new guards told me I wasn’t a real guard and that couldn’t be one” you mumble. The castle had had a couple of new guards in training in the building recently.
It seems one of these new guards didn’t get the memo not to mess with you. Izuku was one of the highest trained guards and the leader of many of the armies. And Shoto was incredibly protective over you, which the new guard also didn’t exactly know.
Shoto sighs before sitting down on the marble floor next to you. “You are a real guard, don’t worry about what another guard says. I’m the prince and I say, you’re a real guard” He’s says, knowing he’s saying that just to make you feel better. He would never let you do any actual guard duties. But he would never want to hurt your feelings or make you upset.
You nod your head, still keeping your knees to your chest. “What if I get you a specially made uniform? Then you won’t be told that again” Shoto asks, seeing you finally look up, that sparkle back in your eye. “Really? A real uniform?” You ask, Shoto nodding at you to your bright smile.
“Can I have a sword too?!” You say, anxiously waiting to know because you really want a sword. Shoto smiles a bit, knowing that he would never allow to have a real sword.
Shoto would never put you in danger.

A bunch of confessions lately, no?
In all seriousness, there's a Bakugou fic I've been busy writing that was supposed to come out today. But then I realised that my overworked ass couldn't finish it in time, so you get a Shoto confession to stall.
Shoto Todoroki doesn't know jack shit about romance. He's absolutely hopeless at it, which is why he's on the verge of slamming his head into the nearest brick when he finds out he actually likes you. It took a long while for him to find out that he had feelings for you, and now that he's sure of it, he's a complete and utter mess.
The path to his confession is long and painful, and really if he had just known how to do feelings, it would have made his life much more easier.
Those little gifts he would buy when one of the trinkets reminded him of you. Roses, because while you were pretty, you were feisty. If you wanted to, your words could hurt as bad as thorns. A plush toy that you've wanted for a long time now, but never had the money to afford.
He'd wrapped it up the best he could and had given it to you on Valentine's Day. He remembers with fondness when you dragged him out after the last day of his exams in his third year, bringing him to an ice skating rink after school to celebrate.
It was a day he never would have cared about if it weren't for you. When he's with you, it feels like he's finally normal. You ground him with your clumsy smile and unstabilised skating. You make him feel a little less perfect when he catches you and ends up falling down on the ice too.
His laughter sounds like the tinkling of ice as emotions seep out of his stoic expression for the very first time, and you just sit there, gawking at him as he chuckles softly under his breath.
You've the only one who could ever get him to laugh like this.
That's the first emotion he unleashes in front of you.
Happiness.
And that's when the words slip out of his mouth. "I like you so much."
Your gawking turns to confusion because this is Shoto Todoroki we're talking about. The stoic prince everyone was told to admire from afar.
"What?" You whisper.
Shoto freezes, realising his mistake too late. It'd just been on his mind for a while, and it's all he can ever think about when he's with you. And now here you are.
Sitting on the floor of ice, staring at each other, with a heavy blush on each of your faces. "I-I-"
God, he was so embarrassed, but there was no turning back now. Shoto isn't the kind of person who can weave lies like a spider's web. No, he's the kind of person who would end up tangled with all his words, stumbling like a nerdy schoolboy. "I like you a lot, Y/n."
This isn't a dream, is it?
"Would you be my girlfriend?"
This definitely wasn't his finest moment, but it's one he'll never take back because your next word was all it took for him to forget all about the awkwardness he had caused.
"Yes."
Shoto wins ten dollars of Bakugou and an explosion to the face, and it's so worth it when he gets to hug and hold you intimately for the first time in his life.

The Queen’s Champions - Pt 1
AN: Yo, I am very very excited to be putting some type on the screen for this story I have been mulling over most of the day. I’m going to try my best to make this into a series. I really want to see what this could turn into. Writing for Katsuki is mostly my jam, but stretching my MHA muscles with some shoto and Izuku.
Summary: The soon to be crowned queen of Taiyo, the descendent of the golden child is ready to take the throne. With your champions at your side, there is no challenge or kingdom you cannot conqueror. Reader x Adult Bakugou x Adult Shoto x Adult Midoriya. Rated: PG-13 with a lil’ spice...as we move through chapters.  As I write this, insert your Y/N fantasy but I will be leaning into my vision of a black reader with hair and skin color description.
LINK TO PART 2
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: The Champions of Taiyo
Royal paper was terrible hard to rip. Seriously; what was this stuff made of!! Perhaps you were just tired, exhausted, overwhelmed; you were all of those things. But none of it gave any logic behind this indestructible paper!
With a huff and swipe of your arm you shoved the parchment off your desk and settled to rest your head against the wood. You knew when the announcement was made that the mantle would be passed down to you that your life was going to become incredibly difficult. You prepared relentlessly for every smile you’d have to give, war you’d have to lead, throne you’d have to rule. But there was absolutely no indestructible royal parchment with any lesson on how to deal with this.
This, being your predicament of champions.
You sat as the rightful heir to the throne of Taiyo. one of the strongest countries in the land. As the history books claimed it, long ago when the world was first introduced to quirks, your ancestor bore the world’s first meta ability, the glowing child. That same quirk has manifested and grown within your family, and after several years of strife and war, the rightful heir was now set to reclaim the throne and restore balance amongst all kingdoms. And here you were, said savior, scared of a few boys.
Because of your high status and prestige of heir apparent, many other kingdoms sent their best champions to serve at your side. Many were political gestures, most didn’t even want to be there, and some even had ulterior motives up there sleeves. But, there were three that stood out. Three that you would seek out their advice and confidence. Three that were so different, yet so much of what you wanted by your side.
Katsuki Bakugou – The champion from Klayd. A powerhouse of a man with a boom in his voice. A barbarian is what many around the palace called him, but to you he was oozing confidence and pride. Klayd was a kingdom that produced the strongest warriors, and was the only kingdom in existence to be able to wield the dragonborn. And, did you not mention that along with his booming personality and powerful quirk came an equally powerful dragon that turned the center court of the palace into his humble abode. You didn’t mind, he was such a lovely creature. And, deep within his heavily guarded heart, Katsuki was too.
And then there was Izuku Midoriya – the champion from Otheon. Neighboring country to Klayd, Izuku beamed with hope and optimism. He wasn’t the strongest of all the champions who made your acquaintance, he was the sweetest and kindest. He knew every staff member by name, helped wherever he could; while you were the descendant of the glowing child, Izuku was the fucking sun. And when there were moments where he had to fight, he could move mountains. But instead he was more often than not moving haybales for the farmers outside the palace walls.
Finally, Shoto Todoroki – the champion, and prince of the I-Islands. Second to Taiyo, the I-Islands were one of the most powerful monarchies in the lands, ruled by a royal family of both ice and flames. Shoto was the prized prince of the I-Islands, born of both fire and ice abilities. And while he can be cold, in the moments you two were alone and in conversation, he was warm and he was tender. You knew of the rumors of his family and his father, but Shoto stood in contrast to everything the king of the Islands was known for. It gave you hope that you could be the queen that your people needed you to be, on your own terms.
But, your coronation was quickly approaching, the champions would soon be departing to their own respective homes and kingdoms. And here you were, the spoiled soon-to-be queen, wanting all 3 of your prized champions to stay.
Could you even ask them to do that?
Would they even want to stay? No, it wouldn’t be fair. It was better if they left. All of them. Rulers of Taiyo’s past usually had one champion from a neighboring kingdom stay as guard to the ruler, personal secretary, head of the kingdom’s army, even the partner of the ruler themselves. But it was always one. Not 3!
Were you already sewing the seeds of being a tyrannical ruler? Why was this so hard!
“Your majesty…”
You didn’t’ even notice the 3 of them walk in to your study, and now there they were, standing in front of you while you lifted your head from your desk, a damn piece of royal parchment stuck to your forehead.
“Huh-wait! Go away! I’m…I’m busy!”
“Busy making a mess, apparently.” Katsuki scoffed while crossing his strong arms over his chest.
Well, he wasn’t wrong. You sure did get yourself into a mess of a situation with these three.
“Yesterday, you ordered us away.” Shoto began.
All three of them staring at you, their eyes laced with a mixture of concern and determination. Katsuki’s mostly annoyance, but hidden beneath the red orbs was a flicker of concern that only you and the two other champions could see.
But, none the less, their pooling eyes locked on you only made you more nervous, “I said I was busy. I’m trying to –“
“Figure out which champion you’ll ask to stay.” Shoto finished for you. Damnit, for a quiet man he was so observant. You knew better than to hide anything from him, or any of the three of them.
Your shoulders slumped, an exhale escaping your lips. Izuku spoke next, “We know you’re stressed about your upcoming coronation your grace. I can imagine this added layer complicates things.” Ugh, he was so fucking sweet. You didn’t deserve him, or any of them. Perhaps they all should leave and Katsuki can leave his dragon and you can just burn everything to the ground.
“Oi! You listening to us?!”
Shit. “Uh, what? Say it again.”
The sound of Katsuki’s groan felt like it could shake the room. He was so dramatic. If it wasn’t your life and lovelyhood on the line, you would find his behavior to be comical.
“We’re choosing for you.” Izuku spoke again, this time you could hear clearly his bold and brazened declaration. “We’re staying.”
We…What do you mean we?
You didn’t realize you spoke that thought aloud. Suddenly, Shoto and Izuku knelt down on one knee in front of you, “I pledge my life, my loyalty, my quirk, and my service to you, my queen, and to your kingdom..” They both said in unison. Izuku looked up towards you, before gasping a Katsuki still standing,
“Kacchan, you’re supposed to kneel with us!”
“Warriors of Klayd don’t kneel, you damn nerd!” His eyes now turned to you, “And yeah, I ain’t leavin’ either. So you’re stuck with all of us, Sunshine.”
You were very lucky to have the table to brace yourself as you leaned backwards, stunned at their admiration and their admittance to you. As much as it felt that the weight was lifted off your shoulders, your mind began racing through protocol and tradition.
“You can’t do that.” You said sternly.
“Sure we can.”
“We just did.”
“Why the hell not?!”
“You… you cant just sign your life away to me like that. Do you know what you just gave oath to? You would be foregoing your own kingdoms. Shoto you’re a prince of the I-Islands for All Might’s sake!”
He shrugged, “I guess I’m not anymore.”
“You cant shrug off your lineage!” You objected. “Look, I appreciate all of you but you have a whole life to live, don’t tie yourself to me because you want to make me happy.”
“But your majesty-“
“Izuku you just gave your oath to me the least you can do is call me Y/N.”
“Okay Y/N,” He answered, testing your name on his lips, “ But this does make us happy. You’ve been spending time with each of us the past few months and you genuinely make us happy. We don’t want to leave. And, you don’t have to choose.”
“It’s beyond ‘happy’ for me, Izuku. For all of you.” You didn’t know how to articulate it. How do you tell them all in the same room you had feelings for them beyond the emotion of ‘happy’?
Shoto to the rescue with a deadpanned, “We know you have romantic feelings for all of us.”
Did your quirk activate, or did you just feel like you were slowly burning up from the inside out? How were they all that observant? Where you THAT indiscrete about it? Gosh, what else did they know about you that you didn’t want them to know?
“How?” Was all you could ask.
“You have a terrible way of hiding things. Which you need to work on before some kingdom comes in and walks all over you.” Katsuki responded only to be met with a swift and shocked glare from Izuku.
“The three of us trained and fought alongside eachother for years during the war. When we all reciprocated feelings for you, we talked it out ourselves and came up with this plan together.” Shoto responded in a much calmer tone.
By ‘talked it out’ you assumed they had a some type of battle, Katsuki blew up something, and then out of sheer exhaustion they came to a compromise.
You couldn’t believe the ease of all their tones. It wasn’t that simple! They had to know that. You immediately ran through scenario after scenario their way.
They would have to stay in Taiyo, permanently. They seemed fine with that. Shoto pointing out that he hates his family and country and being a resident of Taiyo was a nice change. Bakugou and Izuku said they would visit family when they wanted but didn’t mind calling your kingdom home.
What about marriage? They couldn’t all be king, could they? Katsuki scoffed and scolded you for being so ‘presumptuous that he wanted to marry you’. Izuku and Shoto responded that this arrangement was new to all of them and they would figure out what worked best for everyone. One day at a time.
They would have to give up their titles. Again, Shoto really didn’t give a shit about being a prince. And Katsuki and Izuku proclaimed they could be the new champions of Taiyo.
There seemed to be one final piece. “Are you all…okay to share? There’s only one of me. And three of you. And, you’d be forfeiting your autonomy to be with other people if you choose to be with me.”
Izuku flashed a glance at Katsuki before turning his attention towards you, “You are our queen now, you’re sharing yourself with us. Not the other way around.”
You felt your eyes watering from the silent emotion that was filling your study. Could this actually work out. Well, you were the soon to be queen. You could make it work out. At that moment, you decided,
Fuck it. For them, you’ll find a way.
“I accept your loyalty, life and quirk and servitude to the kingdom of Taiyo.” You approached Shoto, pressing your lips against his own. “Shoto, I’m nominating you as my advisor. I need your intelligence I want you at every council meeting and at my side.”
“I’ll be there.” He answered, tiny flames tickling his left side.
You stepped towards Izuku next, your fingers wove into his own, a delicate kiss placed upon his lips. “Izuku, will you be my liaison to the kingdom? I need your kindness and I want you in charge with me taking care of my kingdom. “
“Right, I’ll do my best!”
Katsuki was last. You could see his ears already briming with a shade of crimson. Yet, when you placed your lips against his own, you didn’t find the same warmth and eagerness as the others. None the less, you continued, “Katsuki. I always want you to my left on the battlefield and in this life. I need your strength and I need you as my head of Taiyo’s army.”
“Heh, damn right you do.” That was the Klayd and Katsuki way of, “I’m in.”
Now, it was time for your declaration, “I promise you all as your queen I don’t take your loyalty lightly. I as a member of my kingdom and my personal guard I will protect you, care for you, and love you with my light and my heart.” You let out a deep sigh, “Okay…I think we’re on to something here. Oh this is a lot.” You hiked yourself up to sit on your desk, staring down at the mess of the papers on the floor and the potential mess that was this love square/triange/dangerous passionate shape that was your new relationship.
“We’ll let you be.” Shoto smiled softly at you. As the three of them turned to walk out, you voice echoed against the bookshelves that lined the wall.
“Katsuki…can you stay moment?”
The warrior eyed you before turning to face your direction, the tuff of his fur lined red cape swaying with the turn of his heels. Waiting until you could no longer hear Izuku and Shoto’s footsteps, your swung your legs forward, to brace your feet as you hopped off from your desk,
“How are you really feeling about this? I know the kingdom of Klayd doesn’t mimic the same boundaries of our arrangement.” Meaning, they didn’t share, period. Negotiation wasn’t their expertise and if they wanted something, there was no stopping them. So why did he just agree to compromise on a agreement of this scale?
“What, you an expert on Klayd now? You’ve been stalking me er’ something?”
“I’m serious,” You pressed, “I want to know you’re okay with this. And I’m not forcing you into something you don’t want to do.”
Now you knew something was up. He was doing the thing. The thing you had noticed when his eyes magically tuck under his blond locks, concealing his emotions that as much as he tries to hide, he so easily wears on his face. You let the silence fill the space, giving him the freedom to choose his words and the time in which to share them.
“Well since you know so much about my former kingdom you should know we’re not the most pleasant of people to be around,” He began. His words mixed with a sense of carefulness and carefreeness. You leaned in, waiting for him to continue. “I know I’m not the...strongest when it comes to that shit. That’s not who I am.”
“I wouldn’t want you that way.” You answered.
He lifted his head slightly, his blond hair revealing those gorgeous eyes. And in those red eyes was the root of his distance. “Katsuki” You hushed, “What I love in Shoto and Izuku doesn’t negate what I love in you. I now have gained the strongest champion in all the kingdoms at my side. And regardless of what you deem as faults, you are my champion. There is never a battle you cannot win, and that is what I admire most about you. You are perfect the way you are-“
“I want to kiss you.” He blurted out. “Fuck, Do I need to ask you that? What’s the damn protocol with dating a queen n’ shit-“
You closed the distance between the two of you so quickly Katsuki had to take a step backwards to catch you in his arms. This kiss was much more warming than the one prior. His lips melted into yours. His breath swirling against your own as he broke the kiss to gain the leverage he needed to slide his tongue into your mouth. As a soon to be queen, you did ‘stalk’ the other kingdoms and you knew of Klayd being fiery and passionate folk. You were absolutely delighted that in the ways of romance, the same rules applied. However, you were Taiyo, and you too had your own customs of devotion. Breaking from his lips you smiled, your blushed lips tingling against the cool air. You hands roamed underneath Katsuki’s cape to his bare chest, cascading down the muscles of his back and abdomen. His eyes widened as he felt your breath trace along his stomach, “Ah, I should be doing that to you-“ He panted, wondering what the hell you were getting him into.
Your eyes licked the top of your lids as you glanced up at your champion, “My love,
warriors of Klayd don’t kneel.”

You were walking along a wide dirt path in the woods, on your way to the nearest village to get some bread and fruit as well as a few things you needed for your spells. You were a bit lost in thought, but you heard the sound of hooves beating the dirt behind you. And the sound was growing. You turned around, only to find a carriage coming your way with two large horses leading it. One was a beautiful white cream, and the other was black as night. You quickly jumped off the path doing your best to get out of the way before you were trampled. But your cloak caught on a bush, tripping you and sending you backwards into the ground.
The carriage passed you, then stopped only a few feet up the road. The horses uttered a bray as they halted. You took a moment to study the outside of this carriage. It was the deep color of red wine, lined with golden fleur de lis. A Greek key pattern covering the carriage door. Whoever this carriage belonged to must be wealthy. Maybe even a nobleman.
The door to the carriage swung open, a tall man stepping out on to the dirt road. He wore a white fur cloak that covered the rest of his clothing other than the golden trimmed white pants and black boots you saw peaking thru. A sword strapped to his belt in a brown leather cover. His hair was split down the middle. His left side was an umber red, only a few shades lighter than the carriage itself. The right side was a pearl white, similar to one of his horses. What an odd sight, you thought. You'd never seen someone with split hair such as his.
He approached you and reached out a hand. "Are you alright, M'lady? My apologies" you took his hand, letting him be a brace to lift yourself from the ground. "I'm fine, thank you. It's really my fault. I should've been paying more attention to my surroundings." You brushed off some leaves and dirt from the back of your cloak. As your gaze met his, you saw a large red scar across his face. But even more fascinatingly, you noticed that his eyes mimicked the strangeness of his hair. One being a deep slate grey, and the other cerulean blue. He smiled at you. "I see, what's your name miss?" He tilted his head to the question. "Y/n, and you?" He was shocked for a moment, you didn't know who he was? That's a first. "My...name?" You looked at him a bit confused. "Yes, sir... Your name" you giggled. "Oh, uh... Right. You may call me Shoto" he reached out to your hand once more, bowing to you and lifting your hand to kiss the back of it. His lips were soft.
His eyes rose to meet yours. "It's nice to meet you, y/n" your face flushed just slightly as he let your hand fall back to your side. "May I ask where you're headed?" He held a friendly smile on his face. "The nearest village, I have a few errands to run before heading home. I live a bit far out of town." His eyes widened. "I'm on my way to the village too, you can join me in my carriage if you'd like."
You waved him away. "Oh, no sir. I wouldn't want to trouble you. I'm perfectly fine walking." He scoffed at your comment. "Nonsense, the village is still a few hours away at least by foot. Come, it's really no trouble at all. I could use the company." He took your hand and led you to the carriage door before you could protest any further. "Lucienne, we've got a guest. So don't make it too bumpy." He joked with the coachman before lifting your hand gently, escorting you up the small steps that fell from the entrance. Once inside, you sat yourself comfortably onto the seat, shoto doing the same across from you. He closed the door and tapped the roof of the carriage twice, as to tell the coachman he could go.
He settled into his seat, leaning back with one leg crossed over the other. "This is quite a nice carriage, you must be wealthy." Your eyes glazed over the cushioned red walls. Shoto laughed at your words, realizing even more that you were truly none-the-wiser of his identity. "Yeah, I guess you could say that." It was silent for a while, unsure of what to say to this strange man you'd so carelessly hopped in a carriage with.
"so what brings you to the village?" You spoke, trying to break the ice. He hesitated to answer. "I've got some... business...to attend to. Per my father's request." He sounded tense. "Your father?" You questioned. He uncrossed his legs and leaned forward, interlocking his fingers as they rested at his knees. "Yes, um." He hesitates again. "My father expects me to... take over the family business, if you will. And there's someone I must meet in the village. My father usually does these meetings but he requested that I go this time. I guess to prepare me or something." He sounded displeased, like he really didn't want to go. "What about you? What is a pretty lady like you doing walking in the woods all by herself. That's not safe you know." He leaned back into his seat, studying you. "You said you had 'errands' to run'?"
"yes, I need to pick up some food for this month. As well as some... Items... that I need." You were both being vague in the true nature of your visit. "Items?" He raised an eyebrow to you. You nodded. "What kind of items?" His gaze narrowed in on you, seeking an answer. You didn't want to tell him that you practiced magic. A lot of people look down upon you for the fact that you do so. Therefore it's a fact about yourself that you don't tend to share with just anyone.
You stayed silent, unsure how to answer his question. Once he realized you weren't sharing with the class, he spoke again. "Alright, alright. Keep quiet if you must." He held his hand up in defense. "Stunningly beautiful, and mysterious. What a woman I've run into today." His words made you blush, a little embarrassed.
He pulled a small book out from the inside of his cloak, followed by a quill. He opened it to an empty page and began to sketch the things he could see out of the carriage window. "You're an artist?" You questioned, watching him work. He scoffed. "I wish, my father would never allow it." You crossed your arms. "Well your father sounds rather controlling." His eyebrows raised and fell quickly. "Well, you wouldn't be surprised if you knew who he was."
"well who is he then?" His eyes darted up to meet yours, falling silent. "Ah, you're a bit mysterious yourself I see." Mocking his previous comment. He couldn't help the small smile that crept up on his face. This was an interesting experience. Not having someone kiss up to him just because he was the prince. This felt a lot more authentic, and he enjoyed it greatly. "How are you drawing without any ink?" You asked.
He held the quill up for you to see. "It's magic." Your breath hitched for a moment. "It never runs out of ink, it was a gift from my mother when I was young." He brought the quill back down to his book. "Did your mother practice magic?"
"oh, heavens no. My father forbade such things. But she had a very close friend who did." He paused, looking out the window, then back to his book. "I only met the woman once, but she'd send my mother with gifts of all kinds to give to me." He flipped to another blank page in his book, lifting his knee so it was out of your vision. He began to draw you, tho you were unaware. "What other magical gifts have you received from her?" He smiled, studying your features. "In time, y/n"
"in time? That would imply that we'll see each other again." He raised an eyebrow while he sketched the shape of your lips. "May I see you again?" His lip upturned into a smirk. You crossed your arms again, and your legs. "If you so wish." His smile grew bigger. He shifted his position, leaning his back against the side of the carriage. One of his long legs bent in the seat. He continued to draw, looking up at you every so often. You stared out the window, watching the trees go by. Catching a small woodland creature every so often.
You hadn't noticed for a while, but soon realized he'd fallen asleep. The next hour was very quiet.
Tumblr media
You'd arrive in the village, Shoto still sound asleep with his book laid face down across his chest.
You leaned forward, tapping him on the shoulder. His eyes fluttered open behind long eyelashes. "You don't want to miss your important meeting." You joked. As you stepped out of the carriage. He quickly shot up from his seat. "Wait!" You turned to face the open carriage door, his tall frame stepping out of it.
"When will I see you again?" You shifted your weight from one foot to the other. "When would you like to see me again, shoto?" His smile grew wide. "As soon as possible, if that's alright with you."
You rolled your eyes playfully. "Must you return home immediately after your 'meeting'?" He shook is head. "I have no curfew, M'lady." Your eyes met his and they lingered a little longer than necessary. You pulled your gaze from him. "Well, I'd plan to spend some time after sunset by Iris lake. You're welcome to join me since you're so eager to be in my company." You began to walk away from him again. "I'll see you then!" He called after you. There was a large smile on your face that he couldn't see.
As you did your shopping, putting various pouches and jars into your bag. You overheard gossip among the shop keeps saying that the prince was in town. You heard girls your age talking about him as well. Swooning, saying how handsome he was. You found it amusing how the townsfolk liked to gossip. You weren't in the loop about most of these things, given you live so far out of town. But you didn't care to know much of it either. You didn't find much joy in gossiping about the nobles or the royal family for that matter. You didn't know much about them. Only that King Enji was greatly disliked among the people, and he had three sons and a daughter. You didn't know any of their names or what they looked. You knew that people adored the young prince, whoever he may be, and that he was soon to be king.
Beyond that you didn't know much else.
Tumblr media
You'd finished your shopping and the sun started to set. You decided it was time to head to iris lake, where you told Shoto you would be.
It was a place many people knew existed, but few visited. There were rumors about the lake being haunted and such things, but it'd never bothered you. You'd come to this lake quite often. Even in childhood. It was a quiet place for you to think, read, work, and the view was quite beautiful. Especially after dark. You found most things more appealing after the sun has set.
When you arrived at a familiar clump of trees, you searched for the break in the leaves. Leading you straight thru to the beautiful water. Soft ripples coming in from the fall a few feet away. You studied the plants that grew in and around the edges of the water. Some were familiar and others were new growth.
You pulled a blanket from your bag, laying it close to the waters edge in the grass. You set down a basket of fruit, cheese, and bread that you'd gotten from the shops, as well as a bottle of grenadine. You untied the knot in your cloak that held it over your shoulders, laying it on the edge of the blanket. Taking your sandals off and placing them to the side.
You spent about an hour sitting by the water, reading. Occasionally eating a piece of fruit from your basket.
You heard a bustling in the trees, looking over to find Shoto sneaking thru where you had entered before, white horse by his side. He looked over the scenery in awe, taking in its beauty. "You came." You spoke to him. His gaze found yours. "Well of course I came. I was so eager to be in your company, remember?" He'd tied his house to a nearby tree before he made his way over to your spot by the waters edge. "Do you mind if I join you?" He requested, stood over an empty spot on the blanket. "I don't mind at all, sir."
He took off his own cloak, laying it atop yours. unclipping his sword from his belt, placing it to the right of him on the ground. He rolled up the sleeves of his dress shirt, exposing the lower halves of his arms. He picked a piece of fruit from your basket as he sat beside you, leaning his head over your shoulder. "What are you reading?"
"The Pearl, have you read it?" You marked your page and closed the book. Setting it beside you. "I have yes, when I was a boy. It's one of my favorites actually." You smiled, and leaned back, using your hands as a pillow. "There's a full moon tonight." You stared up at the stars. "That, there is" he looked up with you, then back to you. He pulled out his little book and began to draw you again, just like this. As he drew, studying your features, he noticed a tattoo on your upper arm.
Tumblr media
"Is that the symbol of the mages?" He gestured to the tattoo. "So what if it was?" He continued to draw. "then that would mean you practice magic, M'lady." You tensed up. "Well...so what if I did?" He stopped his pen for a moment, smirking at you. "well then I'd be even more fascinated with you than I already am." You sat up on your elbows. "Really?" You questioned him. "You don't think it's preposterous for a woman to study the arcana? Or that I'd be reckless or dangerous because of it?" He scoffed, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "Why would I think such things?"
You signed, laying your head back to the ground. "It seems to be what most people think. 'the enchanted is meant for the men. Not the reckless woman' they say" you quoted what you'd been told for so many years since you were young. "I find that ridiculous." He replied. "Women can do anything a man can if they will themselves to do so." You stayed silent, but smiled at his response. "In fact. I think there are some things that women are far more capable of than men. Common sense being one of them." He made you laugh. "Is that so?" You teased. He nodded. "I've watched men tear each other to bits over a meaningless squabble. Rage whole wars over a difference in opinion." You turn your head to watch him as he continues. "And I've seen women love, and care and nurture. I've seen them have compassion for a complete stranger and treat them no differently as if they were their kin. And that, in my opinion, is true strength."
"your wise for your young age, who instilled those beliefs in you?" You turned your head back to the sky, watching the stars again. "My mother, of course. And watching my sister be just like her." He closed his book and joined you in your laying position. "your mother sounds like a kind woman."
"yeah, she was." His voice was soft, he sounded sad. "Was?" You asked. He sighed. "She fell ill when I was young and over a number of years her condition had gotten worse. There was no amount of physicians, mages, healers, or prayers to the gods that could help her. She passed when I was 9." You repositioned yourself so you were laying on your side, facing him.
"I lost my mother when I was young too. When I was about 11 years old, someone set fire to our home. We never found out who it was, but we did know it was because the town's people didn't like that my mother practiced magic. I was born with the same skill set as her, and my father was afraid they'd target me when I got older. So he took me far out of town where I've lived ever since."
You picked another piece of fruit from your basket, biting into it as you watch him turn his head to you. "was that this village?" Yo nodded. He sighed. "I'm so sorry, that's horrible what they did to your mother." You didn't know what to say so you just stayed quiet.
He stood up. "It's pretty warm tonight." He kicked off his shoes and began to undo the buttons on his blue and golden vest. "Would you like to join me for a swim?" His vest fell to the ground and his shirt followed soon after. His entire torso was exposed. He was well built. Big arms and a set of solid abs. Your face flushed. "I shouldn't get my dress wet, it'll be far too heavy." He'd removed his belt, slipping his white dress pants off his legs. Leaving him in nothing but his cream colored undergarments. "Well then remove the dress." He chuckled, stepping into the water. You sat still and didn't say a word. He turned to you, waist deep in the lake. "C'mon, love. It feels quite nice actually."
You sighed, feeling defeated. You stood, untying the laced string from your chest. You glanced up at him, he was watching you. Focused. "Turn around" you laughed and he smiled. "As you wish." He turned away from you, facing the waterfall. His back was turned to you, And you could see his defined muscles in the moon light. You couldn't deny that you found him handsome. More handsome than most, even.
You slipped your dress off, letting it fall to the ground. All you wore was the white undergarment, cutting off right above your belly button with spaghetti straps and panties of the same color. You felt very exposed and a little out of your comfort zone.
You stepped into the lukewarm water, letting it engulf your skin the farther you went. Where the water met his waist, for you came right under your breast. He heard and felt your movements make ripples, turning to look at you.
You refused to look him in the eyes, feeling a bit exposed. He glanced over to the waterfall, and then back to you. "Come over here" he dipped his head under the water and you saw him swim in the direction of the fall. You followed him like he asked. The two of you emerged on the other side of the fall. It was dark, only the moonlight reflecting thru the water to help you see him. A part of the cliff behind where the water fell was caved in a few feet, creating a tucked away spot not visible from the waters edge.
His wet hair draped over his face sending stray trails of droplets down his cheeks. His fingers ran thru the damp bangs that covered his eyes. "Can I show you something?" You nodded, curious what he wanted to show you. His left hand lifted from the water and a bright orange flame ignited in his palm. Your eyes went wide. You thought that was all, but he moved his flamed hand towards the rocky wall. Shining light on the surface. His right hand touched the wall and crystals of ice splayed outward from where he'd placed his finger tips. You were speechless, amazed by the power he wielded. It was very rare for some to have elemental magic. Even more rare for two to be wielded at once. "How can you-"
"I was born this way. I don't know how or why." His hand left the wall and the other closed his no longer flaming palm. "My mother used to tell me that it was a gift from the gods. That it was something that I should be proud to wield. But my father... He'd wished i'd never been born with such abilities." Your gaze finally met his, his eyes were dark under the shadow of the cliff. "I understand why he loathes it so, my elder brother was born with something similar." He sank into the water, relaxing his muscles and letting it engulf him to his shoulders. "He had a power of blue flames. I thought they were so amazing. But most other people didn't feel the same. They called him hellspawn. Said it was the flame of Hades he wielded. They looked at it as more of a curse than a gift." You settled into the water alongside him. Listening to the story he was telling. "When I was just a toddler, there was an accident. My father was being too hard on him, as he was most of the time. He was expecting perfection from just a child. And experiencing it myself, I know how overwhelming it could have been for him. He lost control of his power in a fit of anger and the whole place went up in those blue flames." He paused for a long second before continuing. "His skin was badly burned and they had him locked away. They believed that he was a danger and had ill intent." His head turned to look at you, trying to gage your reaction. He'd wondered if this might give him away. The whole kingdom knew of his brother Touya and the "shame" he'd brought to the royal family. Tho, no one dared speak of him for many years now.
"After that, my power had manifested not long after and my father made me conceal it. And because of that I don't have much control over it either. I've never told another soul. Other than you of course." You moved a bit closer to him. Your hand raised to the scar on his face, pushing a tuft of wet hair out of the way. He felt your soft fingers on the tough skin. "Is that accident how you got this?" He showed a week smile, his hand grabbing the back of yours and gently removing it from his face. "No, that's a story for another time."
"why did you decide to tell me about it? You don't know me at all" you tilted your head in question, genuinely wondering why he would so carelessly share this information with a stranger. "There's something about you that makes me feel like I can trust you. Everyone I meet treats me a certain way because of my family's reputation. It always feels like I have to put on a show. But I feel rather relaxed in your presence, y/n"
Your cheeks were stained pink but it was too dark for him to notice. "You said you have no control over this power?" He nodded. "I could teach you. How to control it I mean." His eyes went wide and were glued to your face. Looking for any sign of a prank. "Really?" He sounded excited. You nodded. "I've collected many books on elemental arcana. I don't know much about it myself but I'm a quick learner." You smiled at him. He looked like a child that had just been given a basket full of sweets. "Would you really teach me?"
"I find it fascinating and I want to learn more about your power. It's so unique and very rare, I couldn't pass up the opportunity." He stood up straight, water falling back to waist level. "It's a deal then" he reached out a hand for you to shake. "You'll teach me to control my ability and i'll..." He paused, thinking. "Well, what would you like in return?"
"it'll be nice to have some regular company, that's enough of a payment for me." He smiled. "Alright then. You'll teach me, and I'll keep you company." You shook his hand and laughed at his enthusiasm.
The two of you spent some more time talking, him showing you a bit of what he could do with his power. Eventually you both went back to the waters edge, shuddering from the now cool air hitting your wet skin. The air dried you just a little before you pulled your dress back over your body, Shoto finding his clothing as well. You sat back down on the blanket, finding your previous spot. Your hand came to cover your mouth as it opened wide for a yawn. "Tired?" He questioned, sitting next to you. You nodded your head with a sleepy gaze. "Maybe we should go back into town and find a room for the night?"
"I actually quite enjoy sleeping under the stars" you smiled, looking up at the sky." But you're more than welcome to take your leave if you'd prefer a comfortable bed" you laughed. "I think I'd like to stay here with you, if that's alright." He smiled, leaning back into the blanket. You nodded in agreement, before your body involuntarily shuddered from the cool air hitting your still damp skin. Shoto reached behind you, grabbing his large fur cloak. He draped it over you. "Here, you look cold"
"what about you?" You said with slight concern in your voice. He smirked. "I never get cold." He laid back down at your side, staring at the sky. And you laid back too. Your eye lids became heavy and it wasn't long before you drifted off to the sound of crickets and the rippling water.

Little 'Human' King 2
<-♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢->
Part 1
I haven't written anything this long in a while.... So I need to be honest it turned out longer than I wanted it to the entire LHK is about 12000 words long. I'm sorry. Here is the second part which is much longer than the first part.
Bakugo x reader
**Content warning: Mentions of self harm, attempt at suicide, graphic depictions of violence, emotional manipulation, and the "I'm the king I'm doing this for the betterment of my country"** (Will edit as needed)
<-♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢—♢->
Once back in your cave you tried not to focus too hard on it. They had places to go, they wouldn’t come looking for you right away just because you returned home right?
Almost four months later you were surprised to see human prints near your cave. Keeping yourself out of sight you could hear some of them conversing.
“Why exactly are we looking for a dragon?”
“They won’t tell us. All I know is we have to bring it back alive.”
Considering you’ve been in dragon form for a while now you suppose it’d be better to leave since no one else knows how to navigate the mountain. Letting little ones go on their own you seal the cave; grabbing money you leave. Before you could get far your body protested to the idea of flight. To calm the burning in your body you stop to rest in a lake.
Waking up later you notice the egg, it was firm but warm. That must have been what was making your body uncomfortably warm. Returning to human form the egg seemed to grow smaller too, it fit snug in the bag but it felt like there was something in there.
“That answers that question,” you mumble to yourself before setting off.
There was a town close by, but you couldn’t go looking like how he remembered you. Staying in the thick for a night you thought about the color of your eyes, a watery blue. Changing it, you look to see a deep green looking back at you. The waves of white were a steely blue instead, alright this should be enough.
In the town, you register with the guild that you were looking for a party to travel with. You waited a day or two before being approached. A four-person group. Elf, Leonin, Kalashtar, and a human. Offering a drink you opted for juice.
“It’s rare seeing a dragon in their human form,” the elf states quietly.
You took a sip from your cup. “I have my reasons.”
“Why do you need a party?” The Leonin asks.
“I really need someone to help me leave. I need to find a new place to live since my old nest is known to a group of people,” you state.
“Why would you need to leave if your nest has been found? Can’t you just kill anyone that comes in?” The elf asks.
You give a slight sigh. “That would weigh too heavily on my conscience. I have never killed another being and I’m not gonna start now.”
The human woman gives a small nod. “My name is Kyoka Jiro, I’ll be more than happy to help you.”
“Tenya Iida, guiding you on this journey may feel like a promising one.” The Leonin was a lot quieter than I thought.
“Shoto Todoroki, I understand having reasons to leave. So it makes the most sense to me,” the elf agrees.
The Kalashtar seemed to pause. “You have two others with you.”
You gesture to your bag and mumble. “My clutch shouldn’t be visible to others. I can’t just shed my skin to leave them protected.”
“I am Momo Yaoyorozu, I’d feel honored to assist in their protection.”
You smile at this notion but realize you had to give a name to them. “I am Y/N. Thank you for helping me with this task.”
“Much obliged.”
Your travels with this particular party were very warm and happy. Not that traveling with the others was depressing, but you found that you had a lot more positive reactions. Shoto was a prince, but he wasn’t exactly keen on taking up the crown. Momo was just traveling to experience things. Tenya wanted to know more than the walls of his home and traveling was just the right thing to do. Kyoka was from a traveling family, she was born during their travels and she loved meeting and learning different kinds of music.
Thankfully they didn’t press for details. One particular night after getting close to where you thought was the best place to stay you managed.
“I’m sorry I didn’t give all the details. Y/N is the name I gave myself when I met you four, about five years ago I met a different party. They had a limited time to explore so that was all the time I could spend with them,” you start.
“Are they the ones who know where your cave is?” Momo questions.
“Yeah, they do. We had to go back a few times because I had to use my mother’s old scales.” You sigh. “After I left I learned that our leader is the new king. He is looking for me because of this.”
Exposing the marking that lay on your wrist under the cuff that you’d wear a realization seemed to flash in Shoto’s eyes.
“You’re bound to the king.”
You give a small nod. “Yes. There’s possibly another reason I’m bound to him. But it should disappear if I stay away for long enough.”
“Why would you do that?” Kyoka replies.
“Had I stayed in my cave, as mother told me to, we would have never met. I would have never made a connection of beings that don’t live as long as I do,” the tears slid down your cheeks.
Wiping them away quickly, you covered your face.
“Y/N.” A hand rubs into your back and you sigh.
“The only thing I can do now is to make sure that my children live good lives. Their father can live as he pleases without us. I’d rather save them the pain of having to learn their father won’t live to the time they do,” you groan.
You didn’t want to move. But you looked at the bag that had been holding the egg. Pulling it out to hold you realize something weird. It shook. But you had this feeling that told you to break the egg.
Hugging it to your form the other people around you tried to stop you, but the sound of the egg cracking was what alerted you to stop. The embryonic liquid ran down your arms, but you pulled the shell away to expose the soft-bodied creatures inside. Momo finally out of her shock grabbed the blanket from your bag to wrap the children and free them of the mass.
“They do bear a resemblance to him,” Shoto sighs.
“You should name them,” Kyoka urges.
You think for a moment. “The girl will be Kazuki, the boy will be Yohei.”
Now that the egg was hatched the party helped find you a place to live. A house near a waterfall and deep lake. Fixing up the house you found that it was nice living alone with two infants. Since you were not a mammal and didn’t produce milk you found that they could consume fruit milk.
Time seemed to pass slowly. You no longer heard of the missing person the king was supposed to be looking for. Waiting for some kind of other news about him you continued to tend to your children. Soon they could walk and flex their scales at will.
“Ama.” Kazuki started speaking first.
Yohei started swimming first. The infant wasn’t afraid of the water despite the lake being much larger than him. Kazuki didn’t like the water other than baths. While making oatmeal for your sleeping children a knock came on your door. This wasn’t unusual but it was odd to you.
Opening the door you flash a meek smile. “Can I help you?”
The person standing in front of you was a familiar, stocky large man with green hair. From your voice alone he seemed to flash with recognition but it died when he lay his eyes upon you.
“My apologies Miss, I was just traveling through. Do you happen to have any herbs that are good for stomach aches?  My companion is having troubles,” he states.
“Sure, bring them here. I’ll prepare it unless you need me to prepare it in front of you; then bring them here and I can prepare it then,” you take a quick peek at the stove happy that it was fine.
“Is everything okay?” He raises a brow.
Shaking your head you smile. “Everything is fine, I was making food for my children. But please grab your friend and come right in. I’ll get the medicine ready.”
He gives a nod and a bow. “Thank you very much.”
You finish cooking the food hearing the pattering of feet.
“We will have guests this morning so please behave,” you inform them.
Picking up both children you sit them in their seats. Putting the food in front of them as the door opens, shock makes your hand shake. But you get the things ready and mix the medicine in front of the men before going down to the blond male.
“Sorry for intruding on your home, I should probably apologize to your husband,” the green-haired man bows again.
You chuckle. “I don’t have a husband. The father of my children had… other duties to attend to, but I doubt he’d marry me and care for his children.”
The words felt bitter leaving your mouth.
Yohei watches the two men from across the table. Kazuki seems focused on her food, but she starts whining.
“Itchy.”
You rush up to her tasting her food, finding nothing wrong. Looking at Yohei he was fidgeting too. But it was like a last-second click, you could feel the magic power but you never paid it any mind. Picking up your children you soothe their whines trying to get them to close their eyes.
“Mama, itchy.”
“I know, it’ll stop soon. No more itchy soon,” you whisper.
Looking at the two men you all but shout. “Please ask your companion to stop, I will not be held accountable for my actions if you continue to harm my hatchlings.”
They look at you and Izuku steps outside to get whoever it was to stop. Kazuki passed out, but Yohei sobbed into your chest. This only made you angrier, but you waited till Yohei quieted down.
“Why are you here? What do you want from a simple witch, your majesty?” Poisonous words left your mouth as you continued to hold your children.
“You’re coming with us,” Katsuki stands up.
“To hell I am, you just inflicted pain on my children and you think I’ll just listen to you?” You question.
“Ui.”
You shake your head. “No.”
Standing up you almost forgot they were in your arms when the familiar sensation stung your eyes. Walking to the room you lay your children down. Giving you the chance to cry.
“Please don’t ask me to go with you again.” You plead.
“I can’t do that.”
You wipe furiously at your tears. “I can’t be with you. You are a king, I am a dragon. I do not want to watch the man I love die.”
Katsuki walks closer.
“No,” you stumble back. “You can’t even touch me, my tears could burn you.”
“Ui, listen to what I’m asking you. This is hard, I can’t continue knowing that you’re not next to me,” he states.
“But-“
“No buts, you and the children are coming with us,” he states.
You could have fought back. You could have taken the children and run. But you didn’t. Letting them pack up your things you road along with them. Katsuki didn’t attempt to say anything to you the entire ride. It took months to get to his kingdom. The first thing he did when he arrived, he told them was that you are his spouse and the mother of the royal heirs.
Not arguing you went through many hands, and eventually ended up alone in a room lavish with decoration and other things. What were you going to do now? Yohei and Kazuki bolted for you as the door opened. Their tears reaching you had almost forgotten to tell them to not let anyone touch them when they cry.
You went to heal all the people injured by the children’s tears.
“They are half-dragon so their tears can burn human skin,” you state to the maid nearby.
“Sorry, your highness.”
Hanging your head you pat the backs of your children. “No living human would know so it is fine.”
“Your highness, the king wishes to speak with you about future plans.” A man states.
You nod and go to follow him. Kazuki grabbed the back of your skirts and so did Yohei. Both followed close behind as you walked. Stopping in the office you wait until he finally puts his attention on you. Katsuki had a lot of work as King and you had general ideas about it from your reading as a child.
“You’re getting a tutor on palace etiquette, but in two months we’re holding a wedding. Then we have to hold a crowning ceremony for the children,” he states looking at the papers.
You sigh. “You can’t crown Dragonborn to be the next rulers of humans.”
“Why can’t I? They are my children,” he raises a brow.
“Kazuki and Yohei are their human names. But in ninety-nine years I have to give them proper names, judging by human life spans, the luckiest ones live up to one hundred. You told me that you were twenty when we met, it’s been six years now. Meaning you may have seventy-four years left. A human should rule over humans unless you’re planning on becoming a dragon,” you state all at once. “I didn’t fight you because I didn’t want to burn you. But Katsuki I want to spend the rest of my life with you, not the rest of your life.”
Squatting down you pick up the children and walk back to your room. He may be the king but you know he hates forcing others to do things that they don’t want to. Someone had to have put him up to this. It wasn’t long before you met this so-called teacher. The woman was smaller than you but she had a weird beauty to her. The classes started and ended quickly, possibly due to your ease of learning. You learned all the etiquette in the two months before the wedding, since you were busy with that you didn’t have a hand in anything.
Walking down the aisle you heard whispers. Why didn’t the bride have a father waiting at the other end? Where was the family of the bride? Just before you reached the end you noticed that four people were entering late. The ceremony ended and it was time for the reception.
“Announcing her majesty Queen Ui Y/N Bakugo, Dragon of the Gavsfre peak.” You almost tripped when the announcement was made.
But gathering your composure you quickly take the seat next to Katsuki. Many greeted you both to congratulate you on the wedding.
“Prince Shoto, I thought you renounced your crown,” Katsuki huffs with a snide smirk.
Shoto was standing before you and you gave a small smile. “It’s nice to see you again, Shoto.”
“It’s lovely to meet the King and new Queen. What changed your mind?” He quirks a brow.
You almost burst into laughter. “Nothing, my mind is still the same. I’ve been told that Dragons are rather stubborn.”
Momo clears her throat. “How are the children?”
“Fine, they have grown so much,” you grin happily.
“Do you know these four?” Katsuki looks at you.
Giving a small nod you sigh. “These lovely people are the children’s family. In my culture, anyone who bears witness to a dragon’s birth makes them family.”
He pauses. “Right, as the family of my bride and children please feel free to visit the palace.”
The whole thing felt stuffy, but dancing with Katsuki, stiff as it was, was nice. You retired to the royal powder room and were surprised to see the head maid with the children. Much to your dismay they were sobbing and giving the poor woman terrible burns.
“Dear please give them to me,” you take the children from her arms and press her forehead to yours. “I’ve told you many times not to hold them when they cry.”
“The prince and princess wanted to see you, your majesty.” She manages through straggled breaths.
“I know.” Pushing your powers toward her you watch as the skin returns to its previous state.
She gives you a small bow before retesting to the edge of the room. Kazuki was still sobbing and babbling even after being passed to you. It wasn’t long before both slept at your sides.
“I can take them back to their room,” she offers.
“Please, I’m sorry that they have hurt you so many times,” you shake your head.
The whole time that they were with you they wanted to pick apart the decorations in your hair. Making it harder for you to ever consider doing something like this again. Watching the maid take your children back to their rooms you felt the stress return when you made your way back into the ball area. Katsuki gave you a drink and you raised a brow at him. Alcohol had gotten him in this mess and you only swirled the cup before taking a smell of it. Your tutor told you that you are supposed to sip any drinks given to you.
“Where did you go?” He whispers.
“Powder room, the children were crying again,” you answer, taking the first sip of the drink.
It had a pleasant taste to it, but you knew full well that it wouldn’t affect you in the same way that it would Katsuki.
He frowns. “They’ve been crying for you a lot lately.”
You have to keep yourself from breaking the glass in your hand. “The sudden change in environment is possibly affecting them. Did you consider being able to see me every moment rather than having to come at allotted times is stressful to them?”
“I don’t see what you mean,” he pauses for a second.
“Don’t worry about it, I have my plans,” you continue to sip at the drink.
Once the night was over the sun was already on the rise. You were more than happy to take over looking after your children. With a little bit of pushing, you asked the maid if until they got a little older that their room was moved close to yours.
Years seemed to pass in a flash as you expected. The children were already taking classes on how to act like proper royal children. This development leads to you forcing a meeting with your husband.
“I read all your stupid rules, and I think you should get a concubine,” you lay the piece of paper on his desk. “And before you say when will you spend time with me. Since you dragged them and me here you have only spent days with me when there were public events.”
“I’m not getting a concubine Ui.”
You could feel your anger bubble. “I will not have you dying on me forcing me to be here with you. If you die before me, do you know what happens?”
“What, what could be so terrible?”
Tears dropped faster than even noticing their burn. “You don’t remember, do you? I was abandoned because humans killed my father. I don’t have a proper name because of your selfishness. Kill the dragon, they terrorized our village, they ate our cows, they destroyed our crops, they brought bad luck. My father attacked a village because they tried to attack his cave while I was still barely a few years old. You almost killed your children to find me, do you have no remorse or am I just a beast to you?”
“Ui, maybe if he didn’t attack the village he wouldn’t have been killed,” Katsuki states.
Your heart drops. “Oh.”
Taking the item off your head you place it on the desk and try not to shout. Leaving the room your whole body shook with sobs as you tore off your shoes and made your way to your golden cage. Grabbing the old bag you pull out old clothes and start gathering them.
“Your Majesty, what’s wrong?” The head maid asks, looking at the mess you’ve caused.
“I’m leaving. I can’t do this. I plead and I beg but he won’t listen. He never hears what I say,” it hurt to speak as the tears continued to rain down. “Dragons don’t leave the one they love unless it’s to raise young. But when he dies I will have to abandon my children possibly to commit suicide.”
“What are you talking about? You can’t just leave your majesty,” she tries to help you up but you push her away from fear she may be harmed from the tears.
“I can’t, I don’t want to hurt either of them. But what can I do? Humans shouldn’t interact with dragons, their lives are so fleeting that it’s just sand in the desert for us.”
She looks at you and sighs.
“I’m coming along.”
“But-“
“No but’s, my job is to raise the children, and I’ll help you if it’s the last thing I do. I am an elf so I’ll live long enough,” she starts packing things.
You couldn’t argue with her about logistics, Elves did live longer lives closer to that of dragons. She gathered your things and got things for the children. You told her that money was no problem since your horde was much more than you needed.
But as you were getting ready to leave, a particular green-haired knight stops you. Blocking the exit you frown.
“Izuku, don’t do this.”
“Ui, please you can’t just leave him again.” He pleads.
You stand still and just sit on the ground. “Fine, then I won’t leave. I’ll stay right here.”
He was confused at this sentiment. But you didn’t argue or add anything. You stayed on the floor kneeling for fourteen days. Many were concerned about this notion since the second day. But it seemed to fade from their minds when thinking you didn’t need food. The twins would try to copy you but were unable to and got tired of the idea.
But you didn’t ignore their efforts. Happily letting them play with your hair and touch things in the room. Yohei found that sitting by you was fine, Kazuki on the other hand chose chaos. She would run rampant from one end of the room to the other.
“Mother—“
“You can call me as you did before, no one is here.” You smile at the child sitting next to you.
“Mommy, where do we come from?” Yohei’s shaky voice made you raise a brow.
You consider the implication and decide to stand. It was a little unsteady at first. You almost tripped, but quickly you changed clothes because you couldn’t stand the dresses they gave you anymore. The soft fabric felt like heaven against your skin and you let your hair fall behind you.
“Come on you two, I suppose it’s time for dragon classes,” you state while making your way to the door.
“We get to learn about dragons?” Kazuki asks as she runs up to you.
You give a slight nod before leading the children through the halls. Everyone seemed shocked that you were walking around after fourteen days of sitting. Leading the children to your library you let them sit on the couch as you look for the materials.
“Do we have homework?” Yohei asks quietly.
“No dear, I’m just gonna teach you a few things about where you came from,” you smile. “You learned about the map right?”
Kazuki nods vigorously. “Yes, we live in Leputa, it's the biggest kingdom and the most diverse.”
“It is, and you both were born in Honmei. It’s a city right at the edge of Leputa,” you point to the map.
Yohei raises a brow. “Really? Then where were you born, mommy?”
“I was born all the way up here,” you drag your finger from the city toward the mountain. “Akazu mountain. I still have a cave up here too. But I sealed it up.”
“Can we go?” Kazuki pleads.
“We can go in the winter,” you promise with a small smile. “So have your classes taught you anything about dragons?”
Yohei looks to you and then to his sister. “Teacher said that dragons are big scary creatures that can destroy cities or towns.”
You deadpan, kneading at your brow you wanted to scream. “Well, guess what? You both are Dragonborn.”
“What?” They gasp in unison.
“Mhmm, I am a dragon and your father is human. I laid an egg which had you both inside of it,” you grab your bag that sits on the table and pull the remaining shell out. “This is the small piece of your shell that I kept. The rest of it I gave to a friend for her craft.”
They stare in disbelief. “Mommy don’t lie to us.”
You roll your eyes. “So, I have a question. What makes you think that you’re not dragons?”
“Because mommy looks so human,” Kazuki declares.
Pulling your hair up you expose your ears to them. “These are not human nor elf ears. If you need me to prove it, I can transform but I’m not exactly keen on destroying a library.”
Yohei pouts. “Is that why our tears hurt the nanny?”
You pat his head gently. “Yes, that is why your tears hurt nanny.”
“So if we’re dragons, we get to live for a long time like Sir Midoriya, and nanny. Right?” Kazuki asks.
You give a nod. “Yup, when you turn 100 years old I’ll give you your proper names. I don’t have one because my mom had to go away.”
“Where did she go?”
“Um… your grandmother she… she went to a faraway place,” you decide this lie will hurt them the least.
You spot Izuku leaning against the open library door. He possessed a smile but you smirk your own.
“I have an idea, Kazuki, Yohei, do either of you wish to take the crown after your father?” You ask looking at their excited faces.
Yohei shakes his head. “I wish to stay with you mommy, Kazuki wants to be queen.”
You couldn’t help the smile. “Alright, then mommy has work to do. Tomorrow night I’ll return home so please behave for the nanny and Sir Midoriya.”
Kazuki nods furiously and Yohei gives an unsure nod. You take careful steps to the balcony.
“Come to the balcony I wish to show you something,” you wave.
Standing on the ledge you watch as they lean on the balcony standing on the nearby chair. Dropping down you carefully transform back into your dragon form. You felt a hint of pain leaving the children in the castle but you would be back tomorrow.
Once at your cave you prepared the items. Reading over the books you started digging further into your mother's nest to find more books. It would take time for you to decipher them but it would prove useful. Once sure you had everything you tied the bundle up in the large canvas and started back.
‘No reason to dilly dally.’ You thought, sitting by the entrance to seal it again.
Two creatures looked at you and you were reminded of your companion while traveling. They climbed into the bundle and you decided they could come. Once back in your section of the castle you sigh.
“Where did you go?” Katsuki hisses.
“To my cave. You stopped me from leaving forever with the children, but don’t tell me you’re going to stop me from leaving for short periods of time?” You yawn.
He looks at the bundle of canvas. “What’s that?”
“Gifts for the children. By the way, whatever teacher told our children that dragons are scary and destroy cities needs to remember who their queen is,” you narrow your eyes before going to the door.
The nanny was standing there with a bit of a sad expression. “Your highness, the princess is having a bit of a fit.”
“What happened?” You ask as the two creatures appear at your feet.
“I'd rather not say.”
Katsuki clicks his tongue. “Speak.”
She keeps her eyes down. “The princess is upset because she was informed that she cannot rule over the kingdom.”
You sigh. “Those unspoken rules I suppose, seeing as I’ve read all the written ones. I’ll tend to the children. Can you please clean these two foxes? They wish to be companions of the children.”
The little ones go to her feet. “Right away your highness.”
“What do you mean you tend to the children?”
Turning on your heel you smile. “I wonder what happened to the man who told me that he didn’t wish for me to sleep alone in a cave because I had no aspirations to see past the small towns near my cave?”
Katsuki looked at you in disbelief.
“You don’t seem to contain an iota of that man’s compassion,” you sigh before leaving. “Dragons are not to be kept in golden cages, dear husband.”
Two years passed. Kazuki and Yohei were celebrating their tenth year of life. You had spent that time teaching them from the books you found in your cave. Katsuki had allowed the visit to your cave, it gave the children a chance to flex their scales and explore as you had wished.
The second visit he allowed was going to Honmei to the house where you had lived. No guards needed to follow you but Midoriya did. You paid him no mind during that visit because now you had a plan.
“You look as beautiful as ever,” Prince Shoto smiles, giving a bow.
“You flatter me, how is the family?”
He sighs. “Doing quite well. My brother sends his regards that he couldn’t be in attendance.”
Yohei smiles wide. “Mother, when will we get to meet her?”
“Soon my dear, now hush before you ruin the surprise,” you giggle before turning to your husband.
Katsuki wore a smile but inside he was frustrated. Despite what he wanted, the words you told him two years ago still weighed heavy on his mind. But he pushed the feelings of unease away.
You stood happily greeting guests as they came to scope the royal children. Many of the courts were hesitant to have Dragonborn as the next heir but Katsuki refused a concubine. As you guide the twins to the center you smile.
Katsuki speaks to grab everyone’s attention. “I thank all who have gathered to celebrate the tenth year of my children. Please enjoy the festivities.”
He sits and you continue to stand fussing with Yohei. “Mother wants to say something too.”
“As the queen, she has the right to speak when she pleases,” he states.
You roll your eyes. “Fine. My children are just so impatient.”
Grabbing the room's attention, you send a knowing smile to Todoroki.
“I want to say thank you to the kingdom for welcoming me and allowing me to be queen these nine years. The greatest honor I could ever have is you accepting my children, so I thank you for that. I have a wonderful announcement for all to hear.” You giggle giddily with excitement.
Yohei walks in front of you and you take a deep breath. “I would like to announce a Royal engagement, between crown prince Yohei and the second princess of the Todoroki Kingdom.”
Cheers erupted as you finished. Katsuki almost broke his resolve. You were beaming brighter than you had been the entire nine years you’ve been married to him. What was it that made you smile so?
“Mother, will I get engaged soon?” Kazuki asks you quietly.
You wince slightly. “That is up to your father, I could only get permission to set up your brother’s engagement.”
“R-right, father does praise brother more,” she frowns before looking down.
“My greedy little dragon, I’ll see what I can do. Besides I’m sure you’ll be glad to know I got you those sword lessons from Sir Midoriya.” You whisper.
Her entire face lit up in excitement. By the time you guided them to bed, you were ready to face Katsuki.
In the nine years you’d been married it was the first time he visited you. Sitting on the couch you weren’t sure if he’d be angry or just confused.
“Does my queen really never wish to seek me out?” He frowns.
You were reminded yet again, that he didn’t realize he had been wrong. Now was a time as any to have him listen.
“Does my king believe that because your history has told you so everything has been as such?” You got up from the couch and went to the vanity.
Picking apart the decorations you watched him from the mirror.
“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it,” he states.
You only chuckle.
“What?”
“The human version of history is quite lucrative in variations. From the books my mother acquired it seems that your kingdom was once just a small state, that the most important thing to the king then was unity,” you brush your hair with your fingers, your scalp stung from the constant abuse from the brushes. Dragons were once a terror on your kingdom, but the conquests eradicated all but few. Then between the kingdom and the dragon king— I suppose you’d call him— there was a peace no more dragons would be killed. If a human killed the clutch, prepare for the mother to come for them, but if a human were killed by a dragon then the hunts can begin again.”
He frowns. “How do you know this?”
“A book. The queen of the dragon king requested his return, for I suppose you didn’t know but we mate for life to one partner. Dragon or otherwise,” you sigh walking to the partition.
“I was vaguely aware of that,” he nods.
“But the princess at the time very much desired to be wed to the dragon king, the dragon queen requested he return unharmed. He didn’t.” Once free of the stuffy dress you grab the sleeping gown pulling it over your body. “The queen swore her vengeance but instead told her Children to avoid humans at all cost. Because they had already broken the treaty. She killed herself because her mate was gone. That is how all dragons are.”
His eyes were fixed on you as you walked to the bed. “You mentioned that before.”
“So the reason hatchlings aren’t raised with their fathers is because male dragons can be very aggressive when protecting a clutch. That is why mothers will lay their clutch in the most optimal location and travel from their nest to the clutch,” you elaborate.
Red eyes bore into your being.
“My father was killed just because he was a dragon, not because he attacked. I asked. The lord of that land wanted the dragon to marry his child but my father refused since he knew of me. So the lord had my father stripped of his scales and killed. But I don’t hate humans. Because I love you, I love the children, but I don’t want them to be like me.” You sigh.
“Ui. Why do you tell me this?”
“Because I thought I’d remind you of something. But you’re not listening.” Picking up one of the many pillows you examine it slowly as you ask. “Why did you bring us here? If you missed me you wouldn’t have left me alone for nine years with no visits outside of formal events.”
“I’ve been working on something, it’s none of your business.” He huffs.
You heave a sigh. “Right. Well, I’ve done all that I wish for the children. I have a mate who doesn’t care for my troubles, secrecy was tolerable before we wed. Now I see it as lying.”
Tears were already falling as you dug under the blankets. The cool metal of the blade bit into your skin. He came across as uncaring.
“Katsuki, please take care of the children. Unless you wish to be the same as I, I have no reason to continue this painful existence.” The words felt like cotton thick and hard to express as you picked up the dagger.
“What are you doing?”
First, you looked at your wrist gently placing the blade to the mark that had gotten you into this mess. Only to quickly see it fall from him hitting it out of your hand.
“Ui, stop. Why?” He pleads while holding your wrist with care.
“You said you loved me but you’re just keeping me as a trophy, I can’t go home. You know of my indifference to material items yet you try to throw them at me as an apology. The worst is you don’t give the children the time of day, not once in the nine years. Kazuki wants to be queen but you want to put Yohei on the throne when you know it’s not what he wants,” you had a limited time before the wound would begin closing, you had already decided to do this.
He blinks. “What?”
“Katsuki, what do you remember from your childhood?”
“My nanny was looking after me and my mom was ruling the kingdom.”
“What do you think the children remember? That their mother prostrated herself for months, then possibly the village that raised them but none of their father,” you shout into his face as the anger rips at your skin. “I wanted you to care for the children if you were going to rip us from our pocket of paradise.”
“I needed you close to me,” he argues.
“No, you needed me within your grasp. You wanted me in your vision so that I don’t tarnish your reputation. Maybe when we were traveling you cared for me but the moment this stupid mark appeared on either of us and you learned of my children, you decided that you needed us then locked us in a cage, like birds,” you glare.
“What do you want from me?”
You stop and push him away. “I want to be happy, I want the children to find happiness. Stop trying to follow what those people tell you is right, you know how you feel and what you want to do. But you’re disregarding the people that care for you.”
“Katsuki, Kazuki idolizes you. And Yohei, he’s such a wonderful soul but he has no desire or drive to take the throne with the current situation. If anything were to happen I’m sure he will take charge but currently, both the children are very strong. I wanted…”
Katsuki looks at you for a moment before sitting on the ground, he takes your hands in his. “What do you want?”
“I wanted a family, I wanted you and I to spend time together,” you state. “The children need you as much as I need you. Just spend time with us. I know you hate when I bring up the idea of a concubine, but possibly consider expanding the definition of who you consider under your rule. Because by law I’m not even considered the queen among your court, I and the children are considered pets.”
He blinks.
“I- I don’t care anymore. I’ll live as your queen,” you shake your head. “But I suppose I’ll have to take over properly teaching the children about dragons. Thank you for reminding me how greedy humans are.”
“Ui i-
“Drop it. Please,” you plead, pushing his hand away. “It’s too late.”
After their tenth birthday you finally took a much bigger role. Demonstrations, talking, public speeches, visiting public spaces and helping where you could. You became a well known person in society despite the court still not acknowledging you as a citizen. Izuku taught Kazuki everything he could, and Yohei took to learning the ins, outs, and back doors of politics.
“Mom, are you sure we can fly?” Kohei frowns as he adjusts his jacket.
“Of course you can, you’re the prince of dragons baby,” you smile happily.
Kazuki blinks. “Wait what?”
You nod slowly. “My father was the king of dragons, and my mother the queen. Since they passed, I became queen of the dragons. So even if your father’s kingdom didn’t accept you, you could rule over the dragons.”
“Why are you telling us this now?”
“I didn’t think before you became fifteen either of you would want that role. Since humans tried to kill us before. And if a human learned of this before you could control your abilities they might have tried to kill you,” you state. “I wouldn’t stand for that.”
“Does father know?” Kazuki frowns.
You look up to the balcony nearby. “He does now.”
The children looked up seeing their father, the look in his eyes as he stood by the rail was rather complicated. Mouth opened as if he had planned on speaking, but his eyes were wide as if finally realizing something. The reason for your outbursts, the true reason why you had been fighting against him constantly. Izuku was a few steps behind him as if trying to stop him. You could see the anger bubbling up in his stance as he turned away, the last look of him in that moment was angry and betrayed.
“Do you still wanna practice flying or did you want to wait a little bit?” You ask, looking at the two children.
“Yes.” “No.”
You’re usually excited child looked upset, and as she looked to where her father had been you gently pat her head. “Take your time, I didn’t start flying until I was in my teens.”
Yohei on the other hand looked ecstatic. “How do I do it?”
Letting your daughter sit you began slowly instructing your son on how to do it, first calling on his wings and pulling them out for the first time. Then showing him how to push himself off the ground. He was practically a natural, with the same white and blue scales as you. You did end the lesson early and went to deal with the usual tasks.
Katsuki sat in your office watching as she sorted through papers and gave orders to the few people who were willing to listen to you. Why was he just watching you?
“When were you gonna tell me?” He frowns.
“I didn’t, I was going to continue slowly meeting with my court and appoint a new leader if the children weren’t interested. The only thing I’d need to do was raise them for a few years and tell them the story,” you put your pen back in the inkwell.
This makes him pause. “That story…”
“Yes, it’s the bedtime story told to all young royal dragons. I was just the one that failed to realize its true meaning since my parents died so soon.” This was becoming annoying, talking in circles for this to work. “If you want Yohei to take the throne Katsuki I do not mind, but I’d prefer our son to do something he wants to do. If you won’t let Kazuki do as she wishes in this kingdom I will make her the heir of dragons and have my previously decided companion be her surrogate father, once we both die.”
Katsuki sighs, he opens his mouth and quickly closes it. His jaw was tight before finally. “I had no idea.”
“You never asked,” sitting back in the chair you shake your head. “As I said, I will be the queen you desire. Only sticking to my own matters and I’ve already fulfilled one requirement as your queen.”
“I didn’t-
Then he looks at you as if he realized something. “Companion?”
“Yes, as the princess I was engaged to the youngest red dragon. He resides rather close to here. Though he also was barely lucky to keep his parents, trying to get a baby dragon to keep a form is difficult as far as I know,” you explain. “We can shapeshift and because we often only mate with other creatures, leftover effects can make things difficult later in the bloodline. Are you hung up about me meeting him?”
“Of course I am,” he frowns.
Standing up you take a breath. “Until about a few months ago you paid me no mind whatsoever, if I didn’t care for my hatchlings I would have killed myself much sooner. We don’t just hoard money and knowledge, Katsuki.”
Katsuki blinks. You could see the gears in his head moving. “So you have more of those.”
“Of course I do, but the more time that passes the harder that is going to become. But you wouldn’t leave me alone, you were so greedy that you wanted me in your grasp.” You huff, but for some reason something was different about Katsuki.
Staring at him you frown, what was different about him? You wait, almost expecting something to happen when it hit you.
“Katsuki I’ve looked as far back as I can as the queen, but… are you not completely human?”
He narrows his eyes. “What gave you that idea?”
“Something is  different, either you are not you. Or you’re awakening to something? Wait… you’re a godling aren’t you?”
“What?”
“A godling, they are children created from the union of a god and another creature of our world. They are given god paths by their parent usually so they may ascend if they desire. You’ve always had a faint smell of smoke to you, but it’s been much stronger today,” you sigh, shaking your head. “But that’s impossible. The gods haven’t had a godling since the last one was killed. Fifty years ago.”
He was quiet during your entire explanation. Not a word of disagreement. The window opened and two figures appeared.
“My, isn’t your wife adorable,” a woman bearing a strong resemblance to Katsuki hugs you tightly.
“Leave hag.”
The man standing next to Katsuki shakes his head. “Now that’s no way to talk to your mother, had it not been for her I’m sure you would never have realized we planned this for your path.”
“I’m so sorry my son is so stupid as to not communicate properly.” She apologizes, still hugging you as if she were your own mother. “I’m also sorry about what led you to meeting him, we cannot control the people and how the decisions they make. All we can do is hope our little ones can fix the world before they ascend, or even after.”
You shake your head. “It’s fine, I understand. There was no helping it, at this point I know that every few generations the dragons are cursed to love humans. They are very precious and adorable creatures.”
His father nods. “Indeed humans are adorable creatures indeed. But we didn’t come here to simply meet our daughter in law. We came to announce that your god path will end soon.”
He gives Katsuki a roll of paper.
“Katsuki , that is your last task. It depends on you entirely how long it takes, as long as you meet all the conditions then you will be a god,” His mother smiles as she gives you another squeeze. “And you, my dear little queen, need to cease this desire of ending your life early. Everything will play out in your favor, even the gods are devastated by how the humans continue to treat the dragons and have given their gifts to continue your protection.”
Just as quickly as they appeared, they left. Leaving you and Katsuki alone in your office. The events of the past few minutes made your head swim, questions flood in mixing with your thoughts about what you had been doing and this made you look at the man who was standing across from you. The gods only interfere when they feel they absolutely must, you’ve always been told not to expect any help from them. That was just the way dragons were. So as you look at your husband, the man that you love more than your own life and would give your own freedom for if he had only been the important person in your life. But now that you had children you had to think about them, to protect them from what you thought of as a danger.
“I don’t know how to feel about the information that I know now,” you mumble. “You may stay here if you wish but I need some time.”
Looking at him for a moment you push all the documents into a drawer locking it, to then leave him alone in your office.
Katsuki hesitated to open the paper, he’d done a lot in these ten short years. He thought he did the right thing as the king, he thought he was doing the right thing. Looking at the scroll he took a breath before reading it.
«Take a step back and look at what has come to pass»
Frowning, Katsuki reads the rest of the note and looks toward the window. But he’d already been trying to look at what has come to pass. There was only so much he could do there had to be a reason for this. Confused, he followed the order for once. Ever since he’d started on his god path he’d gone against every task that was given to him until he was told to find you. From the moment he was brought back to his kingdom he didn’t want to do what the maker told him, he didn’t wish to become a god on the path that was paved for him. Initially wanted to go his own path.
While in his office Katsuki wasn’t used to his children coming in to see him but he found that as his daughter walked in he was reminded of you. Kazuki hesitated but her voice didn’t shake.
“Father, did you truly not know mother was a dragon?”
She was much bigger than he remembered, children do grow over time. “No, I wasn't aware. I thought she was-
“Human? The books mother gave us when Yohei and I were younger mentioned that dragons always have an abnormality when they take on a human guise, a trait passed from the first queen. Mother has scales along her sides,” she states. “I have scale patches behind my ears, Yohei has scales covering his back. Did you truly not know or did you ignore it?”
Katsuki frowns. “Let me ask you a question, why do you want to be queen?”
“So the people that tried to treat my mother like she was disposable will have no other option but to show her the respect she deserves,” she didn’t hesitate, Kazuki had a look in her eyes that Katsuki had never seen in you.
“You don’t need to be queen for that to happen,” he sighs. “It seems that I’ve been too complacent in this treatment of you and your mother. Tomorrow you will be sitting in meetings with me.”
“Why?”
He looks at the young girl. “My heir should learn directly from the source right? You learn from me, your brother will learn from your mother.”
You stood on the other side of the office door confused. What was going on? For a few weeks Katsuki had been making odd decisions, and you weren’t sure if it had something to do with his tasks, or something else. It wasn’t like you could read his mind, you weren’t even at his side most of the time. How would you know what hes thinking when the only time you ever talked to him was during an argument?
This felt weird. Like instructed Yohei shadowed you in your duties and you began inviting a bit of the dragon court to talk about motions going forward. None of the nobility seemed to argue openly about this. That was until the meeting that was held to welcome foreign diplomats for the King’s birthday celebration, which was annoying since it lasted so long. You had complained when celebrating the children’s birthdays because it felt so long to you. And like a waste of money. But you were surprised as you sat in your chair next to Katsuki.
“I suppose it’s time to address a few things.” He yawned, he looked exhausted. Aside from the fact that he demanded you start sleeping in the same wing as him, every once in a while since the tenth birthday of the twins you had to share a bed. But the weeks leading up to today he never came to sleep. “As much as I’d like to linger on things and explain everything I will not be. It’s too much work, plus I have more pressing matters to attend to. First.”
Midoirya, who was holding something, walks closer to Katsuki and hands him the paper? You and the entire room gasped when it disappeared in smoke.
“I’ve made revisions to the laws, a lot of them were a bit… outdated. Any being: Human, Leonid, Tiefling, Elf or otherwise, is welcome in our country and can become a citizen. This includes dragons.” he states. “Meaning my queen has and will always be recognized as such in history. My children have every right to the crown, but thats not all.”
The knights grabbed six nobles. “You are all exiled from this country, for conspiring against the crown. Not many are aware, but my Queen is also the ruler of Dragons, for the trouble these seven have caused I leave their punishments to the dragon court. You as the ones to guide the young dragon queen are always welcome in this kingdom.”
“Second, I think it best to put a limit in how long someone can rule over this kingdom.” He sighs. “We all know humans have the shortest life spans. Therefore, depending on their race the monarch will only rule for a certain time or until their heir comes of age. Dragons do not come of age until they are one hundred years old. We need to adjust things since mt heirs are neither completely human or completely dragon. Fifty years sounds good.”
You weren’t surprised that more people joined the room. Two familiar faces walk up.
“That was definitely different. So how long should a god rule over humans, Katsuki?” A young looking woman crossed her arms as her antlers stood high over her.
“I’ve been ruling for ten years now, so I’ll finish my reign in thirty years, to help my wife rule over the dragons.”
Standing up you had half a mind to hit him, half a mind. But instead you roll your eyes. “I’m not going to be enjoying this am I?”
“This will be a truly interesting time while the god of war and fire rules over a kingdom.” an older gentleman chuckles.
Interesting indeed.

Transformation's Embrace ─── Shoto Todoroki
Tumblr media
Title: Transformation's Embrace Word Count: 109 words (approximately) Genre: Erotic Fantasy Pairing: [Your Name] x Shoto (Number Two Hero's Sidekick)
In recent times, your encounters with Todorki had grown increasingly frequent, yet the circumstances remained challenging.
As much as you were supposed to steer clear of the Number Two hero's son, you found yourself drawn to him—particularly his sidekick, the notorious villain.
Disregarding the rules, you had discovered him at his most vulnerable moment, nurturing his confidence and fostering trust. Over time, it seemed this unusual relationship had blossomed into something unexpected, yet unspoken. Sitting against a trunk and fiddling with flowers, you eagerly awaited his arrival. Your feelings for him were undeniable, and despite the complications surrounding your connection, you cared deeply about his wellbeing.
Soon enough, you heard footsteps approaching swiftly, and a familiar voice called out apologetically, "Sorry, I was late!"
Panting, the young hero rushed over and flopped into your lap, causing you to grin mischievously as you stroked his fur. "It's alright, show," you cooed affectionately, pulling him closer and pressing a loving kiss on his neck.
The young boy winced slightly, clearly feeling the intensity of your passion, which had only grown stronger with each passing day. He found you incredibly attractive, but struggled to maintain self-control amidst your ardent embrace.
"Are you… sure you want to do this now? Are you on your heat?" he stuttered nervously, his cheeks flushing crimson. With a chuckle, you reassured him, "I think so, Shoto. I wouldn't do it with anybody else but you." Leaning forward, you lightly traced his earlobe with your tongue before revealing your sharp teeth in a seductive smile. "If you'll have me, that is."
Blazing hard, he seized a handful of your lengthy, silky hair and pulled firmly, eliciting a groan from you. Arching your back, you tipped your head backward, exposing your snow-white neck and several faint scratch marks left behind from the last time you allowed yourself to be subdued.
Whispering quietly near your ear, he hesitantly asked, "Do you want me to take control, or do you want to… be on top?" His question sent shivers down your spine, and your breath hitched as you whispered back, "Take control, love." Leaning back onto the trunk, you opened yourself up to the young boy, who barely recognized anything about you when he first met you. But since then, a new side of you emerged, one that was strong, resilient, and far more primal than the person he initially encountered in school.
"You're really beautiful, Y/N," he muttered hoarsely, and you grinned, trailing your fingers over his patterns and to the growing bulge in his pants. "Oh, I know, my prince. I know," you replied coyly, appreciating the admiration he held for you.
Damn, he's good, you thought, surprised by how skilled he was considering his seemingly innocent nature.
Before long, he grew too exhausted from playing with you and removed his clothes, revealing his impressive length. Your eyes widened in astonishment, "Oh gods, Shoto, you're huge!" You gasped, arching your back and grabbing his throbbing member in both hands, moaning as he threw his head back in pleasure.
You chuckled softly as you gently lapped at his engorged tip, taking in the sight of its pulsing veins and the sweet taste of pre-cum that trickled down your throat. He tasted delicious, and he hadn't even started dripping yet.
"Ngh…please… I need…you," he breathed raggedly, and you chuckled, keeping a firm grip on his sensitive shaft as it twitched in response to your touch. "Oh, I know, dear, I know," you whispered, extending your tongue completely before curling it around the underside and bringing it to his tip, where you used your fangs to tickle him just slightly. This almost sent him over the edge, "Gah!" he cried out, struggling to hold back his orgasm as you wrapped your lips around his entire length, creating space within your cheeks to lap at his balls. You hummed again, nearly sending him over the edge, "Grrr, you're really good, princess," he panted, no longer concerned about sounding like a whiny child. He would gladly be pleasured like this anywhere and everywhere.
You released your wild side once more, and a growl surged through your ears as your body transformed into a massive white dragon. Shoto gaped in shock, watching as your head stayed craned, tongue lazily lapping eagerly at his dick despite the drastic change in appearance.
"O-oh," he gasped, his eyes widening as he noticed your breasts becoming larger and jiggling enticingly, his dick growing even harder inside your warm mouth. After a few minutes of licking and sucking, the transformation of your body and the intense sensations drove him over the edge. His hips bucked involuntarily, and his seed spilled into your mouth, filling your throat. You swallowed it all gracefully, wiping your mouth contentedly before leaning back and cleaning up the stream of cum that trailed down your chin. You offered him a satisfied smile, then leaned forward, pressing your snout against his lips, offering him a tender, gentle kiss. As his member began to soften, he felt a sense of peace wash over him.
Breathing heavily, he thanked you and you chuckled deeper, laying back on the trunk, revealing your glistening entrance to him. "Ready for round two, my prince?" you asked, inviting him to continue the intimate experience.

Tumblr media
Petals-all you could see were the petals.
Your mouth and  throat felt so dry, your forehead damp with sweat as your back convulsed painfully, raspy coughs wracking out of your chest as you forced the petals out of your body.
They were so pale, like creamy vanilla, a stark contrast from the droplets of your blood splattered on the delicate buds.
You quickly reached for your handkerchief, wiping the residue off your dry mouth in fear of it dribbling on to your white dress-your wedding dress. Your hands were shaking, unable to cry any more tears at your misery-you had come to terms many weeks ago that you were going to reach an unhappy end.
Why did it have to be him?
----------------
You were the princess of your kingdom, destined to marry Prince Shoto of the neighboring kingdom. It was something you two had been accustomed to from birth- in order to connect  the two kingdoms and end the quarrels between the two civilizations, you had to marry. It would be a harmonious marriage: Prince Shoto was kind, soft spoken, and a natural born leader. You two had been wonderful friends as siblings, your fathers putting away their troubles in order for you two to get along. They were hoping that by making you friends at a young age, you would learn to grow feelings for each other.
For a time, it worked-you had fallen for Prince Shoto, his soft yet powerful demeanor making you  blush each time you remembered him, your young hands writing your name with his last in your journal like a prayer. At 13 you already began to count down the days until you would turn 18, because on that day, you were set to marry your predestined lover- Shoto Todoroki.
For years you had felt so lucky you were blessed with such a sweet boy to be with, being able to live out your lives harmoniously and in peace, something both your parents didn't have the luxury to have. It sometimes left you feeling frustrated- Shoto was truly kind, but very quiet about his thoughts. Your love felt one sided, Shoto seemingly only tolerating you because he had to.
Once he got older, he became more distant towards you, clearly wishing to rebel against his father’s wishes by being distant towards you. It hurt you immensely to see your best friend and crush plainly reject you, but you still held on to the hope that you two could be happy with each other. Yet all that changed when the Prince had left for a quest.
He had been gone for what seemed like an eternity and for a time, you were extremely worried. You could barely focus on your studies, only imagining your poor friend somewhere cold, hungry, and alone. You knew he would be fine, he was a resilient fighter, but yet you couldn't help but allow the worrisome thoughts to collect in your brain. After news that the Prince was in a neighboring kingdom, safely traveling with a young boy, a witch, and a warrior, you felt at ease- with all those comrades, he was sure to be safe. You finally breathed a sigh of relief, able to calm your anxieties after a long time of being unable to.
Information continued to trickle in, sometimes good and sometimes bad, but it always stated that the Prince was spotted safe and sound. You took solace in that information, and for awhile, you began to worry less and less about Shoto, until he was barely a memory.
During that time, you had begun to take on the habit of reading. Before it was a task you simply did when forced or extremely bored, only reading books and stories from your own kingdom.
With so much extra time on your hands waiting upon the Prince to return, you began to learn of other stories, ones that were trully a delight to you: stories of nomads who traveled the country and did rituals to bring them fortunes, women who sold potions by gathering mystical ingredients from the woods, people choosing their own destines and their own paths. It intrigued you- from birth you had one mission for your life: to unite your kingdoms. Once you married Prince Shoto, your destiny would be complete: and then what would you do? You had no other purpose, except being a symbol of that peace for the rest of your life, sitting pretty on a throne until your last breath.
It began to eat at your insides, gnaw at your conscience that you were merely a pawn in your father’s legacy. You could now fully understand why Shoto had been so defiant: he had realized the truth of his life as well.
Slowly, you began to learn to dread instead of anticipate your wedding day. With the Prince being gone, it was sending quite a ruckus in your home, your father more annoyed with each passing day that the Prince had not come back. You, on the other hand, rejoiced. The kings had both agreed at your times of birth that if anything happened to either child before your 18th birthday, the agreement would be cancelled and the marriage no more. They would rely on their children to fix their broken ties.
You had just turned 17, the mental clock beginning to tick  in you and your father’s minds, as the Prince still wasn't back form his quest. Just a few more months, and you would both have your wishes: Shoto seemed to have no interest in marrying you, and why should you even for that matter? You two truly didnt love each other- your friendship was a hoax your fathers had created in order to save their own legacies. Your love for each other was man-made and a lie. Just a few more months, and you'd be free of this terrible fate.
------------
The day you turned 17 and a half, you were busying yourself on your plush pink bed, reading another novel about free spirited women in a far off land.
“Princess y/n,” your hand maiden opened the door quietly, afraid of disturbing you, “the King would like to speak with you.”
You gave your shy handmaiden a small smile, delicately marking the spot in your book as your feet landed on the cold floor.
“Thank you,” you replied, “Ill be there shortly.”
You entered your father’s study, his feet stomping the room heavily as he paced in deep thought.
The room was grand, a golden chair sitting in front of an old ebony desk, the room surrounded by maps, battle plans, and bookcases full of legends of stories written long before your time. Light flitted through long windows against the wall, looking out to the rural countryside and a matching red carpet run the lengths of the stone floors.
Your entrance seemed to have disturbed your Father’s train of thought, his head instantly looking to see who had interrupted him. Once he saw it was you, he sighed, greeting you with a tight smile.
“You wished to see me Father?’ you asked politely, your fingers tugging nervously at the sleeves of your dress. Your father never called upon you unless it was extremely important- had you done something wrong? You wracked your mind for any actions that would had been unwise for your father to find out, but to your surprise, you couldnt think of a single thing you had done.
“Yes, yes,” your father said hastily, waving his hands toward a small wooden chair at the foot of his desk, “please-sit. We have much to discuss.”
You sat on the hard chair, a chill traveling your back as you watched your father sit in his plush throne, his face clearly tired.
“As we all know, Prince Shoto has been on a quite a long quest for some time,” your father began, his voice deep with annoyance, “and has not come back. And with your 18th birthday fast approaching, and it worries me that the boy wont be back in time for your marriage. I have talked to King Todoroki about my worries,  who also had the same fear, and he promised to bring the boy back and end his little shenanigan. But Shoto refuses to leave until his quest is complete.”
Your father took in a deep breath through his nose, his face a mix of anger and agitation.
Your heart beat excitedly- the prince wasnt coming back? The news bounced happily inside you, giving you some hope that you needed- that must have been why he had gone on that quest in the first place! Even though you were excited, you felt a tightness in your chest- you were childhood firend after all. He really didnt like you that much that he felt he had to run away?
“Oh dont look so solemn daughter,” your father comforted, his voice soft with sympathy,” Shotos father allowed the boy to finish his quest in 5 months’ time, and he is forced to return to his kingdom. In the meantime, we can not forget the whole reason for your marriage like young Todoroki has- you must connect the kingdoms in order to bring harmony.``
“Which is why,” your father added, “we must begin to plan the wedding.”
Your head shot up, the feeling of shock flooding your body. It was still going to happen? Your body began to feel heavy, your father's words fuzzy against your ear- you didn't want this, any of this. You felt trapped like a songbird in a cage, unable to scream out what you desperately wanted to say: if he didnt love you, you didnt want any part of this.
Your father seemed to not notice the look of terror on your face, continuing to inform you of his plan. “We already have sent out invitation to relatives and noblemen in other countries, as well as begin to plan out the festivities. It will be a 3 day event, full of food and parties and, of course, the celebration of our kingdoms coming together. The closer to the date, we will begin to need you for fittings of your dresses as well as rehearse your wedding vows and such. I promise I will make this as wonderful as I can, for you are my only daughter.”
The king smiled at you, wrapping your stiff body into a hug. You could barely feel his embrace- the world was numb to your screaming mind. You wished upon everything in you to end this, to make this all go away, but you knew you couldn't- you would be forced to do this whether you wanted to or not.
You simply nodded your head to your father’s parting words, and then ran to your quarters, shutting the door and ceremoniously throwing yourself on your bed in defeat.
--------------
For days you felt numb and broken, all fight leaving your body. You watched as all your handmaidens and servants ran like chickens around the castle, preparing for the enormous festivities coming in close time. You were a good and proper princes, silently placid and allowing everything around you to happen.
Flower arrangements, samples of sweets, and  fabrics for your dresses all came to you, and you agreed to all of them or just randomly choose. You could care less for your “special day”- the only thing you could truly hope for was prince Shoto ignoring his father’s wishes and not coming back.
That, of course, was a wishful fantasy. You were having a blissful dream when your hand maiden barged into your room, clearly too excited to be considerate of your sleeping state.
“Miss y/n! Miss y/n! Oh please wake up! There is most wonderful news!” she cried excitedly, gently pulling the covers off your body, “You must get ready at once!”
“Prince Shoto- he is back from his quest!”
---------
The whole of the kingdom rejoiced at the news, since he had arrived a month before the wedding. He was here, ready to marry and unite the kingdom. That was all that truly mattered.
Your handmaiden dressed you in your most elegant gown, the icy aqua color bringing out the rosiness of your cheeks, as she placed pearly ornaments in your hair. You felt like you were being presented as a gift to the Prince, a reminder of what he was destined to do. You sighed, dreading having to reunite with your once friend and secret love.
Shoto was standing in the ballroom of your castle, very accustomed to it since you both played here occasionally as children. He was used to the golden floors and the crystal chandeliers the sizes of boulders, all hung gracefully in a row on the ebony ceiling. Him and his company were standing shoulder to shoulder, facing the polished staircase cascading towards them.
He looked at his new found friend’s faces, their expressions clearly in shock. Izuku, his face ruddy with dirt and his cheeks aflame from nervousness as he twisted his shirt between his fingers (a nervous tick Shoto had noticed).  Uraraka gawked at the room around her in awe, her wide eyes drinking up the scene in front of her. Bakugo was least impressed, his arms crossed in front of his exposed chest and his eyes formed in judgmental slits.
Shoto had told the others before why he had to go back, but only after the quest was over- he wanted to help his new found friends, and after promising to help them in their battle, he would have felt extremely guilty leaving them behind.
Their reactions were mixed when he revealed he had a marriage in a few weeks time- Izuku was clearly shocked yet in awe hed be marrying a princess, while Uraraka seemed to find the situation romantic. Bakugo simply laughed, mocking him from being such a “sissy” for actually getting married in the first place.
Shoto was feeling conflicted inside at the moment- it had been so long since he had last seen you, and when he had, he was less than kind to you. He was quiet, distant, and quite petty about the whole situation of your marriage. You had turned barely 17 when he left, his young body desperate for some adventure and resilient to his father’s wishes. He merely saw you as a nuisance, someone in the way of his freedom. He knew it was unkind and unjustified, you didn't know what was going on inside him, but he was angry nevertheless and desperate to leave. So when he was approached by young boy in need of a friend for his quest, it was hard to resist the offer.
But as nights when on and he had time to be alone with his thoughts, his mind always seemed to travel to you. The way you giggled, your laughs sounding like chimes in the wind, or how your smile always seemed to make his skin tingle with warmth.
You were always a strange girl, but always in the best way, daring Shoto to races even thought your father said it was “unlike a princess to do so” or trying to braid Shoto’s mix-matched hair.
He would never forget the day he had allowed you to do so, your nimble fingers soft against his skin and making him burn up from nervousness. Your touch was so calming and soothing, your small compliments and soft voice sending his soul soaring with pleasure. It was then he realized he had loved you for you, not because he was forced to.
Shoto felt guilty for forgetting those cherished memories in his fits of anger, but he had agreed to help Izuku and he vowed to not give up on that promimse. Months went on, and Shoto couldnt tell how much time had passed: he only hoped you were doing okay without him.
It wasnt until his father had came to collect him that he realized how short he was on time. He had still stuck by his friends, yet the constant reminders of your wedding was in the air, haunting him. They would travel through kingdoms, the whispers of this event following him as the townspeople began to talk. It was a wonder his friends never caught on except him, only to find out weeks before your wedding.
Now Shoto was standing in the ballroom, feeling quite nervous- he hadnt seen you in so long….would you look any different? He was certain your beauty had grown by then, the thought of you looking older and more womanly bringing a blush to his cheeks. How would you see him? He had become quite a different person on his quest, his body becoming more hardened from battles with bandits and the harsh life of travelling. Would you feel the same for him still? Were you just as excited as you were so many years ago to finally be together?
Shoto heard the clicks of shoes on the wooden floor, a man with the straightest back he had ever seen standing proudly at the steps of the stairs. The man took a deep breath, his voice traveling through the room as he announced your arrival to the group of travelers.
Yet Shoto didnt hear a single word he said- he was enraptured by your beauty. You had seemed to turn into a fine young woman since he had last seen you, your curves accentuated by the tightness of your gown, the blue complimenting you perfectly. Your hair flowed in soft ringlets on your back, the pearls in your hair like stars. You were an angel blessed to this planet- an angel he was destined to marry.
The only thing that was worrying him was your expression- he had expected you to seem so much more lively, welcoming the bright smile you would always give him when you saw him. But now, your face was gone of any warmth, looking almost numb to the situation as you looked down at the group.
You traveled down the stairs, hating the way your name sounded in the announcer's voice. This was all so cliche- the Prince comes from a quest, and there is the Princess, simply a prize for his hardwork. A trophy of sorts for doing a good deed. Why did it have to be this why? Why couldnt you feel anything? The world had felt so cold for so long, feeling trapped due to the lack of control you had. Everything had seemed to loose its splendor and color, your vision for weeks turning gray in sadness-
Until you saw him.
The ash blonde boy, his hair unruly and his eyes a bright red like blood. He was clad in strange clothes, like a barbarian, his chest completely open and showcasing his taut muscles. You were intrigued by him- you had only seen likes of him in books and stories you read. He was so different, so menacing, and you wanted to know more. He was the only thing you could focus on, not taking any time to look at the others in the group, including Shoto.
Shoto was the first to reach you, unafraid to approach you like the rest of the group as you reached the bottom of the steps.
“Y/n-” he said, his voice deep and airy, “you look-wonderful.”
You gave him a small smile, but it made his heart sink- you didnt look happy at all. It seemed forced, far from the bright grins you used to send his way all the time.
“As do you, Shoto. You look quite different from when we last saw each other.”
You quickly turned your attention away from him, focusing on his new comrades instead.
“I assume these are the young heroes that accompanied you on your journey?”
“Y-yes!” the young boy with the unruly green hair stuttered, nervously bowing his head. He was quite adorable in a way, his small stature and freckles dusted on his cheeks giving him a child-like quality (even though he was most likely your age). “My name is Izuku Midoriya!”
You gave a reassuring smile to the young boy, trying to make him feel comfortable.
“It is wonderful to meet you Izuku.”
You began to walk towards the girl know, her pointy yet colorful hat signaling that she was a light witch, a sorceress who used your powers for good.
The girl shimmied in her dusty boots, clearly as nervous as the boy. She lifted the corners of her cloth dress, bowing slightly.
“My name is Ochaco Uraraka, your highness,” she smiled sweetly, her cheeks dusted in a pinky glow.
“Ochaco…” you mused over the name, its sound foregin yet light on your tongue, “you are a light witch, I assume?”
“Yes, yes I am!” the girl practically squealed, relief seemingly flooding her face. ‘How did you know?”
You giggled a her amazement at you, completely unaware apparently that she had the most witch-like outfit you had ever seen.
“A lucky guess,” you shrugged your shoulders playfully as you began to walk again, your heart beginning to race as you edged toward the barbarian.
You stopped in front of the man, his stature a head taller than yours. You eyes looked slightly up at him, your cheeks reddening- he was much more handsome up close, his rugged features making you feel breathless. He un-apologetically judged you with his vermilion eyes, looking you up and down with scorn.
Why did you find that so attractive?
“And you are-”
“My name is Bakugo.” he instantly interrupted you, his voice deep and velevty like syrup, “thats all you need to know.”
“Bakugo?” Your brain searched for any name similar to that, but found none- this boy was definitely a foreigner, most likely from far off lands you could only dream of. You had no idea why he followed Shoto back to the kingdom, but you were happy he did- he was definitely a sight for sore eyes.
“A warrior, I assume by your garments,” you nodded, your eyes trailing to his torso “and by the looks of your scars, an experienced one.”
He scoffed at your observations, his eyes rolling in his sockets.
“For a princess, your eyes wander a damn lot. But yeah- Im hella of a good warrior. Best in the kingdoms.”
You cocked an eyebrow at his language, your cheeks red  by his comment. He was so unapologetic and rude, yet- it was intoxicating to you.
“I’m glad to here that.”
Shoto was eyeing you sadly the whole time- what was so different between you two? Why did you seem so welcoming to the others but so distant to him? His face began to turn red with fury as he watched you interact with Bakugo, the way Bakugo insulted you so plainly and cockily making him want to yell. He watched as your face had light up for just a moment when you spoke with him, something Shoto didn't get the luxury to experience.
He also noticed what Bakugo had vocalized- you eyes did wander when you looked at him. Shoto at first tried to rationalize that you were simply being curious, since Bakugo was definitely a strange sight for you, but the way your cheeks blushed and you smiled so warmly at him made him think otherwise.
What did you see in that barbarian that you didnt with Shoto?
You looked again at the odd group, taking a deep breath through your lungs.
“I want to congratulate you all for your successful quest,” you began, the lines slightly rehearsed, “and as thanks from my father for bringing back Prince Shoto, he would like to welcome you all for dinner tonight. We  would love to hear all about your journey then,” you then snuck one last look at Bakugo, his eyes boaring into yours. It was making you feel a warmth inside that you had thought long ceased.
You instantly looked down at your hands, your cheeks feeling hot. You knew this was wrong- you shouldn't feel smitten for any other boy, especially this warrior, yet you couldnt help it- you were entranced by his resilience and the freedom he had, something you could only dream of.
“If youll excuse me, I have - things to attend to. It was a pleasure to see you all” you gave the group a tight smile, turning your back quickly from the group to follow your handmaiden back to your quarters.
Shoto watched you until you were gone, his heart beating painfully. He wished he could run up to you, grab you by your wrist and ask you what was the matter. It was still him, your friend for all those years, and you were still you, his love and his best friend. Were you beginning to forget, like he did? He felt his stomach drop painfully at the idea- he would ask you, tonight. He would figure out what had happened between you two, and fix it.
--------------
You were now at dinner, sitting stiffly as you moved your food around your plate, your tight corset making you feel un-hungry. All night you had been detached and quiet, feeling almost sick by your surroundings. Your father was overly outgoing to the guest, giving you side-eyed glances and trying to enter you in the conversation. You would simply smile and nod, occasionally throwing in a comment before returning to squishing your food between your utensils.
The only time you ever seemed interested was when Bakugo would speak. His comments were all snarky and rude, completely self centered about how strong or intelligent he was.
He was constantly proving his worth throughout the dinner, taking over the story of their journey when he saw fit, making sure everyone knew he was the most capable one of the group. It was obscene, his remarks, his language, even his personality, but- you were intrigued by it. The only person he had to listen to was himself. It was so intoxicating to watch him talk, to hear what other remarks would leave his mouth. Whenever he spoke, you stood up a little straighter, taking time to take in any information he gave about himself and immortalize it  into your brain.
Shoto had felt awkward the whole meal, not knowing how to gauge your emotions. You seemed so distant, as if a stranger was sitting next to him. He wished he could enter your mind, detangle all the emotions and thoughts that were keeping you from being yourself around him. There was no laughter, no genuine smiles, no happiness came from you. This bothered him- you were usually so cheerful. His nervousness was eating the inside of his stomach, as his mind still couldn't figure out how to approach you after dinner.
“-and the wedding will be a three day celebration, full of festivities,” your father continued boisterously, his voice booming embarrassingly around the room, “Shoto and y/n will be the main attention, of course, over 200 noblemen will see them share vows-”
The sound of your chair pushing away echoed throughout the dining hall, making the whole group look to you. You cleared your throat delicately, a hand resting on your chest.
“Excuse me for my rudeness, but Im feeling- unwell,” you sighed a quick smile.
“Are you alright, do I need to-” the king asked, his eyes full of concern as you shook of his worries.
“Oh no, Im completely fine- just a headache,” you gave a pained smile, “I hope you all enjoy the rest of the meal.”
Shoto watched you walk away, desperate to make sure he knew which way you went in this large castle. He instantly pushed away from the table as well, rising quietly.
“I- uh-am full, thank you for the meal,” he bowed to the King slightly, placing his napkin on his plate as he rushed out, confusing the group that was left.
Izuku and Ochaco looked at each other, their cheeks red with embarrassment and shock as they looked at Bakugo, who was clearly not bothered by the disturbance. Ochaco then looked at the king, who was clearly confused by the whole ordeal, as an awkward air lay heavy on the table.
Ochaco hastily took a large bite from her plate, filling her mouth with food- “MMMMMM!” she exaggerated, trying to start up conversation again, “I LOVE the ham!”
------------
Shoto ran around the castle, looking through every corridor and door, searching for you.His head was racing, trying to organize his thoughts in his minds. He needed to figure out how to speak to you- should he act normal, like nothing was wrong? Should he be formal and see how that went? Angry? Upset? He didnt know how to approach you, but he knew he had to do it.
He finally saw your gown turn an empty hallway, his feet picking up pace. He quickly was able to catch up once he could pin point your location, his hand wrapping around your wrist in order to stop you.
You felt slender, cool fingers wrap around your skin, making your body run cold. You instantly jumped by the sudden touch, all breath leaving your body as you turned around quickly.
Your wide eyes met the mix matched orbs of Shoto, a small pang of annoyance filling your body from getting so scared.
“Shoto,” you replied breathlessly, slightly happy though it was only him and not somebody else that had grabbed you.
“I-uh-y/n,” he replied back, his mind going blank.
He let go of your wrists, his hands resting at the side of his body. “I-Im sorry to scare you like that,” he apologized, “I just- wanted to speak to you. If you’ll let me.”
You looked at the boy, his eyes now averting yours, probably from nerves. You decided to listen, turning your body to him.
“Apology accepted,” you said plainly, “What did you want to speak about?”
Shoto drew a blank- what did he want to talk about? He loved hearing your voice, finally only reserved for him, but yet you seemed preoccupied. Distant. Like you were on another world and not truly there with him.
He stared at you lightly, looking extremely conflicted. “I-I wanted to talk to you about what happened while I was gone.”
“You explained quite plainly what happened on your journey,” you replied, clearly not in the mood to talk, “I applaud you for your bravery, it must have been quite a difficult journey-” you gave him a small bow, your eyes gone of any warmth. “I really must go to bed, Im sorry, but i do feel-”
You began to walk away again, Shoto desperate to keep you near him. He walked in font you, blocking your path.
“You didnt here me correctly-” he changed his wording this time, trying to be as specific as possible. “I want to know what happened to you while I was gone.”
You eyebrows turned down in confusion. “What are you trying to say Shoto?”
He swallowed, trying to clear his dry throat as he licked his lips, conflicted.
“You seem-different.”
“Its been a year and a half since I last saw you, Shoto,” you reasoned, “of course Ill be different.”
“Yes, but-” he paused, “youre too different. Youre not the same y/n I knew.”
“Why? Because Im not following you around like a love sick puppy?” Annoyance began to bubble inside, feeling attacked by Shoto’s words. “Because I finally got over the fact you didnt love me ? You dont have to pretend Shoto, I know full well you only see me as a nuisance.”
Shock flooded Shoto’s system as your icy words pierced his skin. What happened to you? Yes, he was rude to you before he left, but he didnt feel like that anymore. That was a simple phase, were you going to define him by that?
“I dont see you as a nuisance, y/n.”
“Really?” you scoffed at his words. “then tell me why your father had to go out to find you twice before you finally decided to come back?”
“I made a promise to my friends. I had to finish my quest before-”
“You had a promise to me, Shoto!” you yelled exasperatedly, your heart bursting with hurt. “To your family! To my family! Our people! What was so much more important than that?”
“I was so worried about you Shoto, terrified for you. Those first few months I couldnt think of anything but you.” You were beginning to reveal a lot, too much, but the emotions, the hurt, the anger, was flooding out of you like a broken dam and you couldn't stop it.
“But then I realized that you didnt care for me. You thought I didn't notice how you gave me the cold shoulder those last few months? How you ignored me,  only gave me quick answers, acted as if I was just a pest following you around? I remembered all of it, and then I realized- you left because of me.”
“You left because of me, didn't you, Shoto?” your voice was harsh and crude like metal, stabbing into Shoto’s conscience.
He stayed silent- how could he say anything back? Your words were making him feel small and foolish- he should have known that you would have noticed his change in demeanor, just as he noticed yours.
You smiled painfully at his silence, feeling a fresh cut of pain slash inside you. “I knew it.”
“Y/n, I-” There was so much he wanted to say, things he wanted to take back. He didnt want this meeting to go like this- with you even more distant to him. Out of all the possible outcomes, this had to be the worst one.
“Dont even try to backtrack Shoto, I know the truth now,you just confirmed it.”
He knew he was less than kind to you before he left, but know it wasnt like that anymore. Why were you so angry?
“Fine-yes-I left, and it wasnt right,” he admitted, his voice deep, “but Im back. Why are you putting my old self against me now?”
“Because I couldn't for the year and half you were gone! I-I loved you Shoto, and you-”
“You dont love me anymore?” Shoto looked down at you sadly, his eyes full of sorrow. It felt like his heart was breaking in two, the way those words spilled out your mouth so easily making it sting even more.
You swallowed, filling a pit grow in your chest. Everything felt so cold, so empty. This was your best friend- why couldn't you just be nice to him? You thought you had gotten over all this.
“You dont love me-so  why should I love you?” your voice was barely a whisper, cold and empty in the frigid hallway.
Shoto stared down at you, his voice caught in his throat. Did you really believe that? That he didnt love you?You had been friends since children- you really thought all those times, all those days you played together, were all fake? Who even were you?
“I just want you to know,” you spoke, your voice monotone and  icy,” Im not doing this for my father, or your father, or even you. Im doing this for my people and thats it.”
“It” meaning the wedding.
Tears began to prickle your lashline, confusion flooding your numb body as you began to walk away from Shoto-
you hadnt cried in what seemed like forever.
Why were you now?
“Y/n, please, can we just talk-” he tried to reason, harsh with desperation.
“No.” your voice was plain in its tone that you were done with the conversation.
“Im just curious Shoto- why did you come back? Because if I had the luxury to have all that freedom, to be free for once- I wouldnt.”
Shoto’s heart felt broken  as he watched you walk away, your dress ruffling as you continued on your path. He felt defeated, confused, even angry- what had happened to you since he had been gone? Did you really hate him that much? What did you mean you had no freedom? More questions flooded his mind than what were answered, but he now knew one thing- you didnt want anything to do with him.
As Shoto’s was returning to his corrdiors sadly, you were lost in thought, just feeling- empty. You didnt feel sad, or angry, or even spitefu anymorel. Just- numb to the world. You could walk for miles and miles it seemed and you wouldnt feel a thing.
Why was that? Why were so mean to your long lost firend? You should be hugging him from happiness and relief-not meeting him with coldness and hate.
As you were lost in thought, you didn't even notice yourself running into a person. Your hand instantly reached out, meeting soft yet rough skin. You looked up in confusion ,and your breath hitch- it was the barbairan, his vermilion eyes like rubies as he stared down at you in scorn.
“Oi, watch were your going you damn princess,” he scolded, pushing you off him gently. You stumbled slightly, trying to get your footing right- you had run in to him, you had even touched him. If you were feeling alright, and if the circumstances were different, you could practically squeal. “Youre gonna hurt someone.”
“Did I hurt you?”
He scoffed at your comment. “Like you could ever hurt me,” his voice was deep and velvety, his comment sending shocwaves into your system. The reply was prideful, yet it could have been- sweet. Kind, in a way in a different light- maybe he meant it like that?
“How do you know that?” you blurted out, a small smirk crawling across your lips.
You just wanted him to talk more, to hear that velvety voice directed towards you- but you were close to flirting with him. What were you doing? What was going on with you?
One second you were chewing out your life time friend weeks before your wedding, and now you were being smitten with a random man you didn't even know.
He chuckled slightly, his canines glinting. “Your a fucking handful, arentcha?”
He eyed your wobbling feet, as you still were finding your footing slightly.
“You clearly cant walk right-you feeling fine, because Im not gonna be the one who carries you-”
“No, no , Im fine.” you reassured, your cheeks rosy. ‘Thank you for catching me.”
“Youre the one who ran into me.”
“You could have just pushed me off though, you seem like the type to do that,” you gave him a cheeky grin, it disappearing when you heard a slight growl come form him.
“The hell you mean princess?” he was trying to be menacing, but you could tell there was something behind it- he was curious. You loved how he called you “princess”, making it sound like a pet name than  a title.
“Your a lone wolf, are you not? You are strong, independent, free-” you began to list off, your eyes focusing on his, “you follow your own code and beliefs”
“Damn right I do,” he agreed, your heart soaring that he looked so proud of you for describing him so perfectly. “-which is why Im confused as hell that half-and-half prince is allowing himself to get married.”
Ouch.
The small amount of hope that Bakugo seemed to like  you had quickly got destroyed, feeling hurt flood your body. You quickly tried to shake it off, so Bakugo couldn't see it on your face.
“What he even want to talk to you about anyway?” The boy shifted in his stance, his muscles moving with his movements.
You gulped, guilt filling your body- Shoto, the one who had just fought with. You couldnt tell this boy what had happened- that was private, and really, it was embarrassing.
“Just-uh-about-” you stammered, your cheeks red as you searched for a lie.
“Ugh, let me guess, you two were trading spit werent you?” he interrupted in disgust, taking your red cheeks as a sign you two were doing something unholy in the hallway.
You swallowed, licking your lips as you gave him a tight lipped smile. You were just going to follow along with Bakugo’s line of reasoning- you didnt have any other better ideas.
“Y-yep, just- please dont tell anyone?”
He gave a bitter laugh, his voice booming against your ears. “You guys cant get dirty? I guess that makes sense, since you all our royalty, cant be having any scandals-”
“Do you promise?” you rushed him, now feeling uncomfortable- if anybody heard you and Shoto were kissing in the hallway, and you two were really arguing-
“Yeah, dont worry princess, youre secrets safe with me.”
You sighed a breath of relief, feeling your heart jump at the smirk the boy sent your way.
“Thank you- I- uh- best be going now,” you stammered, rushing past the warrior, “have a nice night Bakugo.”
You rushed to your room, your heart feeling on fire. Your hands were shaking, your mid racing- all you could think about was that boy. Your world had seemed so dark, until he showed up. His rude responses, his chaotic personality, his snarkiness, that overly prideful speech, his freedom- it was so intoxicating to you. You felt your heart pumping against your chest- you hadn't felt this alive in so long.
You suddenly felt very sick, your head feeling drowsy- maybe you were actually catching something, and thats why you were acting so strange? You were gasping for breath it seemed, your corset making it hard to breath. I felt like something was tightening around your chest, small prods poking into you from the inside- it was a strange sensation, one you did not welcome in the slightest. You stumbled to your bed, holding on to the post as your lungs felt tight with no air, liking something was blocking your passageway. Coughs began to erupt out of you, wracking your body until you finally felt you could breathe. You sucked in a deep breath, welcoming the sweet night air, your chest still feeling tight. You looked down at the ground, trying to slow your stammering heart, until your eyes feel upon something new- a single white petal, resting softly on the ground.
------------
After that night, You became obsessed with this boy, learning bits and pieces from him though conversation you had overheard from Shoto’s friends and workers inside the castle. You learned he was from an extremely far off land, past even the Mountains, which surprised you. He lived alone, and apparently had a dragon as well. He had  gotten in many fights due to his overly prideful personality, which was why he had so many scars decorating his taut body. Your handmaidens seemed to look at him with annoyance, saying he refused to wear anything “civilized” and would plainly cuss them out if they even set foot in his room to clean.
You knew he had a softer side though- he had kept your “secret” safe, right? You heard nothing around the castle about any make-out session or argument between you and Shoto. That little act made you feel special in someway- maybe he had a soft side for you?
Whenever you would feel yourself getting sucked into the sadness of planning your wedding, you’d think of fantasies with that barbarian boy. Him taking you in the middle of night, taking you far away from this place. His hands placed around your waist, that snarky smile looking down at you again.
Seeing him walk around the castle grew a desperation and love in your body, watching his handsome face stare around the rooms, his voice loud and prideful- you wished he could look your way, acknowledge you again. His vermillion eyes sent fire into your soul whenever you closed his eyes, his face being a beacon of warmth in your life.
Yet that beacon of life was killing you from the inside- every day and every night you fantasized about Bakugo, the sickness taking over you grew worse and worse. The closer you got to your wedding day, the worse it felt, the vines inside you prickling at your soft organs. They were growing, you felt it, as you coughed up more and more petals.
For a few days you had no idea what was going on, fear striking you as you wondered if you should ask to see a doctor. But you decided to do your own research, scourging through books until you found your sickness: Hanahaki. The the mythical disease for unrequited love. It was quite rare, but it came to the most lonely, delusional, and desperate of lovers.
It made sense, really- it all started when you talked to Bakugo, after falling in his arms. It hurt he didnt love you back- but why should he? One run-in shouldn't make people fall in love with each other, but somehow it made you. You welcomed the pain alittle, as it was a reminder you still had some feeling other than emptiness inside you. It also terrfiied you- you were supposed to be in love with Shoto, not some barbarian from a far off land you barely spoke to.
How had this happened, how could you let this happen?
Even if you did tell others you had Hanahaki, they would point the finger at Shoto, calling him cold and callous for not loving you. You were the one who was the cold one, pushing your old friend away. Even if you felt some residue of anger for him, you wouldn't put him through that- he didn't deserve it. You let this disease do its course- if it went away youd be freed, knowing that Bakugo loved you back, and if not- well, you’d figure that out when you got there.
You had barely talked to Shoto or even noticed him since that night, not realizing the amount of worry he felt towards you. Everyday that went by he noticed how sick you looked, your skin paling and you eyes losing any life. Every cough you tried to hold back he noticed and it rang in his ear like a terrible siren- there was something wrong with you.It ate at his insides, his fear of you pushing him away again making him scared to ask what was wrong.
------------
It was now the night before you wedding and you were feeling less than hopeful. You were supposed to be lively and happy, as your father had thrown a party to celebrate the events of the next day, yet you had no energy left in you to dance or socialize. You stayed in a dark corner, trying your best to blend in and not be noticed.
The coughs were not leaving, and it felt like your chest was being constricted until you could barely breathe. The annoying tickle of a cough was constantly at the back of your throat, as you tried to keep the petals at bay. You were miserable.
“Princess, are you doing alright, you seem a little- pale? Do you need some water, or maybe fresh air,” the young witch Ochaco approached you, her rosy cheeks and bright eyes looking at you.
“Hello, Ochaco,” you greeted, your smile strained, “you know-fresh air would be nice.”
The sweet girl smiled at you, gingerly taking you by the crook of your elbow and out of the ballroom. The fresh air was rather nice, soothing your hurting brain and your sore lungs. You two walked in silence for a while, enjoying each other’s company. Your mind was shifting around, thinking about Shoto and what would happen tomorrow. It hurt too much, though- you still were both not at speaking terms, and now you had to be promised to each other for eternity. The thought made your throat itch even more, and instead, you  switched to own of your many fantasies of Bakugo that brought you some comfort.
“So, how are you feeling? Nervous, excited, scared?” Ochaco asked gingerly
“About what?” you asked, looking at her with curiosity
“Uh,um-your wedding,” she giggled nervously, her cheeks growing red again.
Oh-you cursed yourself for getting to invested in your fantasy, feeling embarrassed for thinking of Bakugo and not about Shoto.
You really didnt know how to answer her question-You felt yourself dreading it-how could you tell her that? But you didnt want to lie to her- lying to her would be practically evil, like giving a child a promise and not fulfilling it.
“Its expected of me to marry him,” you reasoned out carefully, “Ive been thinking of this day since I was a child.”
She gaped out you in awe. “Really? That early? In your kingdoms is it a tradition to marry from each other’s kingdoms?”
You gave her a wihsful smile. “Actually- no, it isnt. We’re the first ones.”
Her brown bob fluttered against her cheeks, her eyes staring up at you in confusion.
“I-if you dont mind me asking,” she asked nervously, “why is that?”
You sighed, giving her a small smile.
“Its kind of a long story….”
------------
“Long ago our two kingdoms began to quarrel against one another. But that happened years back- we still continued to fight against each other, and quite frankly, we forgot about why. We just knew we hated each other and wanted to see the other fail. My father had always said to me that my mother wished for her children to be born in a peaceful kingdom, yet my father’s pride prevented that from coming true for her.
“Until the day I was born- my mother, sadly, died while giving birth to me. My father now had no queen, and really, no future ruler, since I am a girl and only men can become ruler in my kingdom. In his grief, he began to feel sympathetic, I suppose- he knew King Todoroki had a young boy who was barely turning 4, and my father got an idea. He travelled to his kingdom, and somehow was able to talk King Todoroki into an agreement.”
“In order to end the suffering of our two kingdoms, Shoto and I would marry once I turn 18, in which would bind our kingdoms forever in peace, with Shoto as ruling over both.”
Ochaco breathed out a large sigh, giving you a conflicted expression.
“So-thats why you two are getting married? Its arranged?”
You looked at her in confusion-“Didnt-Shoto tell you that? I thought Bakugo at least knew-”
“Bakugo?” Ochaco blinked a few times, clearly puzzled. “Bakugo just thought it was quite, well, wierd Shoto was getting married- Bakugo is just a lone wolf who cant understand love I guess-”
You strangely felt angry at her words- how could she even say that about him? Yes, he was cold and callous at times, but how could she know he couldn't at least love? You knew he had to at least have some way of having feelings for another person, you had to at least hope for that-
“-it must be why he left last night,”
You stopped in your tracks, feeling a ton of bricks pound into your chest.
“He-he left?
“Um yeah! Something about being ‘bored waiting around for a stupid’- oh my gosh, y/n are you alright!?”
You were coughing up quite alot, your lungs dry and painful as your heart tore in two. He-he left. Without you. Without even a goodbye.
After all that daydreaming, all that hope, that dedication to him, hoping he would notice you- he left. He never loved you, and you knew it- you were just so desperate for someone to take you, to teach you how to be free.
You wanted him to teach you, to see potential in you that you could be just as defiant to the world as him.
Uraraka wrapped her slender arms around your body, patting your back softly to help you rid your body of whatever had attacked you. It was taking everything in you to not let a single petal fall out, the itching in the back your neck unbearable as your heart beat agonizingly against horribly.
You felt a few silky petals slip out of your mouth, soft against your dry tongue. Miraculously, Uraraka didn't suspect a thing- most likely from the darkness she couldn't see the disease overtaking you.
You gulped desperately for air, finally getting a hold on your lungs.
“I-Im fine,” you panted out, raising from the floor on shaky knees. “Thank you”
Urarka gave you a pointed look, clearly not convinced. “Of course, but are you sure? Do you need water, or maybe I should get Shoto-”
“No!” you yelled out, covering your mouth in case of another attack.
You felt a little guilty for yelling at Uraraka so harshly, her wide eyes looking at you in shock-you just couldnt bear seeing Shoto when you were grieving over a lover that was never yours- and apparently dying from it too.
“No, Im fine, really,” you said more calmly, trying to be reassuring, “lets, just- walk back, if thats okay-”
“Yes of course! Ill walk you to your room, just in case you get sick again-”
You two walked in silence again, you mulling over your broken heart as Uraraka watched you in worry. You two passed the ballroom, everyone seemingly enjoying themselves and not noticing you two as you lead the way to your room.
You stepped up to the door, your hand grasping the doorknob until you paused, a question entering your mind. You were still confused why Uraraka said she didnt know your marriage was arranged-you would have expected Shoto to have told his group after saying he was getting married.
Was he embarrassed by it, that he was marrying you?
“You said you were surprised to here our marriage was arranged,” you asked quietly, “Shoto never told you?”
Uraraka shuffled in her pink boots, her shoulder hunched close to her chin.
“He-uh-no,” she breathed out, “he said he made a promise to marry a girl he loved.”
-------------------
Morning.
Daylight.
Wedding.
You should be feeling happy, excited, optmistic-you had been imagining this day since you were a child. But now, all you could feel was a coldness you couldnt seem to shake off- after your talk with Uraraka last night, you felt so confused.
The person you “loved” had never loved you, leaving you sick and hurt.
The person who did love you, you most likely pushed away to the point where they didnt love you anymore.
You couldnt even understand your emotions yourself. All night your sickness wouldnt leave your poor lungs alone, making you cough uncontrollably all night, the petals piling up around you.
You wouldn't allow anyone to see you in the morning, snatching your wedding dress from your hand maidens and putting in yourself. You fixed yourself up, trying to make yourself look as lively as possible, but it seemed impossible- you felt too empty inside to really put your heart into it.
Another round of coughs attacked your chest, a single petal dribbling out of your mouth, along with a speckle of blood. It dripped on the inner folds of your creamy white dress- easily disguisable if you made sure it was covered- yet it made you begin to cry.
What was going on? Why did you have to do this? Why were you still sick?
Your knees hit the cold floor, wave after wave of tears and coughs struck your body in a terrible symphony, the petals piling up on your dress.
You couldnt take it anymore- this sickness was going to have to take you, because you had no energy left to fight it anymore.
You felt a knocking on your door, the sounds harsh against your temple. You sniffled, one last cough feebily spilling out of your bloodied lips.
“Go away-I promise Ill be out soon-” you began sadly, until you heard the door swing open.
You looked up, your face in shock as you did not lock eyes with your handmaiden, but with Shoto’s.
He looked around the floor, noticing the bloody petals, his face completely torn-he knew what was going on.
Shoto stared down at you, his eyes boaring into yours-he knew something was wrong with you. He had came by your room in hopes of fixing your relationship before speaking your vows, working up the courage until he heard you crying. No matter what was between you two, he wouldnt let you go through pain by yourself.
Now he watching you cough up your life, those sickly petals flowing out of you, each one taking a toll on your body.
He gasped out your name, the words like honey as he sat next to you on the floor. You looked so beautiful in that white gown, like an angel from heaven.
But the paleness of your skin, the bags like bruises under your eyes, the blood on your lips- it all reminded him that you were human, and you were hurting inside. He reached for your hand, his fingers grazing your skin-so cold- but you pulled it away quickly.
“Please, dont Shoto-” you whispered hoarsely, “Im-”
Another wave of coughs wracked at your chest, this time the rasps painful against your chest as the vines squeezed.
Shoto didnt know what to do- how could he help you? There wasn't anything he could do to help, except watch his best friend and love slowly cough her life away. A few petals cascaded out of your mouth, adding to the piles as you heaved air back into your lungs, your knuckles white.
“How, how could you keep this from me?” he asked sadly, ignoring your pleas and pulling you into his lap.
You felt how warm he was, and realized- he did love you. He had been there for you as a child, and he was here for you now, comforting you in your worst moment.
Your heart felt like it was exploding as tears cascading down your face, salty and warm against your skin.
“How-how could I Shoto?” I shuldnt have been so mean to you,” you sobbed, “Im so sorry, so sorry, this is all my fault-”
“Please, no, dont be sorry,” he said softly, his arms cradling your body, “we both have our own faults. I shouldnt have left you for so long, and Im sorry for that, I-” he gulped, his heart beating harshly against his chest.
“I-I do love you,y/n, I do.”
You picked up your head, forcing yourself to look at him- he was so handsome, his mix matched eyes softly looking down at you- he was still the little boy you knew from a child, though, always so calm and sweet.
“I know, Shoto, I just, I-” you gulped, fighting to keep the coughs and sobs at bay.
He sighed, feeling his heart sink.
“You loved Bakugo, didnt you? Thats why,” he motioned to the petals, “this is happening to you.”
You gave him a shocked look, your eyes wide and glassy. You forgot how observant Shoto could be- you felt your cheeks grow red, realizing now he must have known by the way you stared so much at Bakugo.
“Was-it that noticebale?”
“Y/n,” he sighed, his chest feeling heavy, “very.”
You giggled at his remark, feeling strange for laughing for once. But Shoto was so abrupt with his words, it always made you laugh at his remarks.
Shoto’s heart soared at your laugh, the sound like chimes against his ears. It died down, the room quickly feeling closed in again.
“I just dont want to do this. I-I want to be friends again. To figure out who were are, without us being forced to be with each other.” you sighed, your heart rattling against your chest. “ I-I want to be with you and marry you- when we decide. Not my father, or your father- I want to be free to choose.”
You turned to Shoto, your hands touching his cheek.
“I-I did love you-and I still do-Im just so confused, and trapped, and-”
“You just want to be your own person,” he finished your sentence, his voice so much stronger than yours.
He looked down at you, his face surprisingly smiling.
“I think I may have arranged that,”
You jumped up, your face in shock. “H-how? Tell me!” you squealed, not unilke a child, your eyes wide with anticipation.
Shoto grinned at your face, loving how excited you could get so quickly.
“Do you remember my oldest brother?” he asked
“Of course I remember Natsuo! He was always so kind to me as a child,” you reminenscenced, “but how is he going to help us?”
“Well, as it turns out, I spoke to our fathers and my older brother,” he said, a small grin on his face, “they agreed that my brother could rule both kingdoms in my place. By himself, and my sister will accompany him if he ever needs help.”
You sucked in a lung full of air, unable to believe what you had just heard-
 “So that means-”
“We are free to  do what we want now.”
You yelled in happiness, happy tears cascading on your face as you wrapped his body around yours, “thank yous” spilling out of your lips.
Shoto hugged you back, smiling sadly- he had to admit, it was hard negotiating that new deal. After the night, that remark of how you didnt feel “free” stayed in his brain, haunting him until he found a solution. Knowing it would make you happy made it worth it- even if that meant you could leave him now. He loved you, but if that meant you could be happy with or without him, he would be content with the knowledge that you were finally able to be your own person.
“You can now be yourself,” he said sadly, his eyes staring down at the floor, “and even if that means you do not love me, I accept it. You dont have to feel guilty.”
You looked at the poor boy, his eyes shaded as his bi-colored locks cascaded onto his foreheads. You felt a warmth fill your chest, the sensation soothing and calming as the tightness in your lungs dissappeared. The tickling in your throat seemed to wane slightly. Your hand found his as his eyes instantly rose to meet yours.
“I wont feel guilty,” you smiled gently, “I want to be free- with you.”

Katsuki winced as yet another thorn dug into his skin and left a long bloody scratch along the outside of his arm. He grimaced and rubbed the skin around the scratch, which was quickly becoming more and more swollen as he trudged on through the thick underbrush.
He paused for a moment to look around him,―The forest seemed to get denser with each step he took, even at midday, only the smallest bit of light filtered through the thick canopy from overhead to warm his chilled skin. Gnarled branches on ancient trees grew so long they almost reached the ground, thick thorny bushes grew in nearly every direction under his feet, and the occasional howl of some creature echoed far off in the distance.
It was as if the very forest was urging him to leave, and any other reasonable person in his position would have turned back by now, ― but that’s only because they’re all cowards, he thought.
Scowling, he rolled his shoulders clad in just his tunic and continued forward. Having given up on avoiding any more injuries today, Katsuki now more plowed his way through the forest than walked. His mother was surely going to give him hell about this when he got home, but he would face her wrath later.
Angrily snapping branches that were in his way and stomping the life of any shrubbery under his feet, he made it about a couple feet before his next step was met with no solid ground, and he tumbled face-first down the side of a rocky outcropping.
Groaning painfully, he rolled onto his back and squinted as the sun temporarily blinded him and his eyes struggled to adjust to the sudden change in light.
Sitting up, he looked around to see he was lying in a large open field. The circular space was surrounded by a wall of earth on all sides. This place must have been the impact site of a fallen rock many years ago.
Still, that wasn’t the strangest part.
Ruby eyes narrowed. This spot was hundreds of miles away from the nearest civilization, and the locals knew better than to go wandering around this side of the woods.
And yet, directly in the center of the crater, ― sat an enormous structure. A tower made fully out of coal-black stone and covered in thick vines of dark ivy loomed over him like a bad omen. Clearly, it was abandoned and had been sitting here for a long time.
Around the tower was a cobblestone wall, which unlike the rest of the building, seemed as if it was just recently built, with no mildew or cracks, not even a single vine grew over it. And there was something off about it, the more he stared, the more it seemed the stones seemed to shimmer and bend in the light like ripples of water.
He felt a strange feeling build up chest from the bottom of his spine as his shoulders tensed.
Was he being watched?
Standing up, Katsuki ignored the sharp burst of pain that traveled up his leg, and slowly made his way to the structure.
His eyes trailed up the side of the tower as he walked, up and up and, — there!
At the very top of the building was a small balcony with flowing white curtains, — he stared unblinkingly at the spot, where he could have sworn he just saw...
He stilled as a shadow darted past the curtains, there was no mistaking it this time.
Katsuki's hand instinctively went to the hilt of the sword at his side as he realized ―
There was something inside.

The Last Straw -Shoto x Reader Angst to Fluff
Sorry I haven't posted in a while.. I started working on a request, and then some ideas for a few others and that took all my time, and now I'm in a block and it's really really annoying >.<
This was written a while ago, but I wasn't that confident in it so I decided not to post, but I guess I'll just post it now, so sorry if it sucks </3 | also I had 0 idea what to put for the title :')
Angst to fluff | Fluff(??) ending | 1,497 words
Warnings!: arguing, yelling, cruel words, Shoto being a jerk, self hate, guilt, a teeny bit of self harm (Shoto scratching his face), self doubt, Shoto hating himself :(, kinda open ending but not necessarily
Tumblr media
You and Shoto have known each other since middle school. You dated for four years, and have been married for three. You both love one another dearly, and have memorized each other's patterns, habits, preferences, pet peeves, and everything in-between. And besides the rare arguments your life was a dream. Filled with laughter and happiness. Your husband did his very best to provide the best life for you, and he sure did deliver. You were happy, very happy. Key word 'were'.
As crime rates grew higher (ik ik I'm sorry this is probably old >.< <3) the pro heroes gained more hours. And Shoto being the top 3 in Japan led him to take a large portion of the work load. Leaving him with only a few hours to care for his basic needs, let alone a relationship. It was draining really, but you persevered, knowing that it wasn't personal, and that it might would go back to normal soon.
Except, it didn't. It went on for months, and you were crumbling. You would wake up at six to get ready for work to see Shoto dead asleep, arm splayed across your form, face buried into your shoulder. You would smile sadly, kissing his hand softly. After a few minutes of admiring your charming prince, you'd move him to his body pillow that totally did NOT have a cute pic of you giving him an in-love smile on one side and a seductive look on the other, which he grasped onto, burying his face into the pillow which smelt like you.
After work you'd get home to make dinner for two, putting Shoto's portion into a bento for tomorrow. After that you do the chores, relax, and then go to bed, alone. It was tiring, really. Even on his one day off he just slept and you had work so you couldn't even cuddle with him. It was really starting to wear you down. And after the total crap day, you lost it. Instead of going to bed on time like you usually do, you decided to rage clean the house, knocking down all of your 'to do's.
Clean out the fridge?
Check.
Reorganize the pantry?
Check.
Sort through all the piled up mail and emails?
Check.
Deep clean all the furniture and carpets?
Check.
After all of this, you finally admired your work before glancing at the clock; 3:53. Cursing, you quickly move to get to bed, only stopping as you hear the front door creak open. Freezing, your eyes grew wide -and hopeful- as Shoto walked in, a few bruises scattering his body.
His hair was a disheveled mess, and his suit was soaked with grime from the day. His eyes were exhausted as he took in your frozen form, not quite recognizing how late you stayed up. As you studied your husband, you noticed how dark his eye bags were, and how his exhausted eyes raked across you, sinking in the sight. You blushed as you realized you were only wearing your undergarments and one of Shoto's shirts.
"Sho-"
"What are you doing awake?" Shoto asked, moving inside and closing the door.
"I had a crap day and-" you paused as you heard Shoto scoff as he moved to disregard his hero costume, setting the gear onto the newly cleaned floor.
"Why.. why did you scoff at me?" You ask, confusion and hurt consuming your thoughts.
"It's nothing y/n."
"It's not nothing Sho."
"Just drop it y/n."
"Fine! I will."
"Finally." Shoto murmured, causing you to swerve your head toward him.
"Finally?! What is that supposed to mean?"
"Gosh y/n! Just leave me alone!"
"Leave you alone?! Shoto- we've hardly talked to one another in months!"
"Are you implying that that's my fault?! I have to work y/n! We can't survive on your wage now can we?" Shoto spat, heterochromatic eyes filled with anger.
"I'm just saying that it's unreasonable for you to get mad at me talking to you, when the last time we talked in person was when I dropped off your forgotten bento two weeks ago. Which made me late, and caused my crappy boss to scream at me. But I didn't complain, because I got to talk to you."
"I'm exhausted y/n. I just want to sleep. I'm sorry you got yelled at, but it's your fault for annoying me at work. Punctuality is important. Maybe your lack of it is the reason why you didn't get accepted as a hero."
At Shoto's words you just stood there, mouth agape. Your failure at becoming a hero was a huge insecurity of yours, and you trusted Shoto to comfort you, to be supportive of your heart crushing failure and help you get over it. But, instead he's just rubbing it in your face.
"T-that's not fair and you know it."
"Oh yeah? I think it's more than fair. In fact, I have a lot more to say to you if you're going to be like that."
"Excuse me?! What the heck is wrong with you!?"
"You're what's wrong with me. Moron!"
Your voice caught in your throat as tears threatened to spill. Unaware of your distressed state, Shoto went on, spitting insults with such venom that he didn't sound like himself.
"You're completely useless y/n. All you ever do is spend money and nag me."
"Your 'job' isn't worth anything compared to mine. If you were useful enough to become a hero you'd at least make something. But no~ instead you played around, got bad grades, and snuck into a boy's dorm. Distracting him from success."
"You do nothing in this house that I payed for."
While Shoto went on and on the tears fell down your face. As Shoto's words grew harsher and more venomous he took a step forward, backing you into a wall, step by step. As your back hit the wall you called out to Shoto who didn't even seem to hear you.
"I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY I MARRIED SOMEONE LIKE YOU!"
"SHOTO STOP IT! YOU'RE SCARING ME!" As you screamed at him you broke down in sobs, body sinking to the floor. Shoto froze as he heard your sobs, finally being pulled to the moment he looked down in horror to see your shaking, sobbing form. As he stood there stunned, all of his words knocked him to his knees, leaving him hyperventilating as he clutched at his aching heart.
Did he.. really say all.. of those horrid things.. to you? As he remembered every word that he said and your face as he said them he completely broke.
His screams echoed through the night, drowning out your retched sobs.
Your sobs slowed as you looked up, concerned for your love. Yes, he hurt you. A lot. But you still cared for him, and you knew that if he was left to his own thoughts he'd imagine something bigger. Something terribly horrifying.
So, moving to your knees, you moved your body to his, his face buried to the floor as he screamed. "Sho baby.." you whisper, tears falling down your face at his broken state. When he didn't respond, you gently placed a hand onto his shoulder.
As soon as he recognized your touch he jerked away, rolling away from you pitifully.
"NO! GO AWAY! I-I-I'LL HURT YOU AGAIN-" At his own words he broke down in sobs, nails clawing at his face savagely.
"Shoto stop that!" You exclaim, lunging to grab his hands. Shoto just weakly resisted, attempting to pull his hands out of yours and toward his face, whispering the words "no" and "leave" repeatedly.
After a while his sobs ceased, and he just let you hold his hands, which you did so gently, caressing them lovingly as you gazed into the broken eyes of your beloved. His eyes were blank, as if the burden of hurting you caused him to pass away silently.
But you could tell by his small breaths and the warmth of his hands that he's only attempting to cope. After a while you were drifting to sleep when your attention was grasped by Shoto's hoarse voice.
"Y/n.. I'm really sorry. I don't know what came over me.. I'll understand if you want to leave."
"Sho Baby.. I'm not going to leave you. And thank you for your apology. But.. you hurt me, a lot. And no, no you are not like your father and no you are not a terrible person nor husband. You just made a mistake. Everyone does. And I know that I've messed up in the past. And did you leave me? No. You stayed, and we worked things through together. Shoto, we will go back to normal. And you will learn from your mistakes, okay? So please, please don't hate yourself. If you beat up on my baby then you'll hurt me further."
Shoto just nodded, eyes tearing up again as he wrapped his larger form around you, nuzzling his face into your neck desperately.
Yeah I don't know, I felt like I rushed the ending?? Hope you enjoyed!

Vampire Todoroki x Reader
You can always tell when he’s hungry. You Point him out on it. He always gets antsy. He will come into the kitchen, where you are, and start slamming cabinets and drawers. “Babe, are you ok.” Knowing full well that acknowledging it will result in being pinned to the nearest surface. With consent, of course.
When you were first together he tried to deny it. Him knowing you are aware of his predicament made him blush.
He tends to be very quiet during sex, because he likes to focus completely on the sounds you make. He wants to hear them in their fullest. This being said, don’t ever let him catch you holding them back. You will be drowning in pleasure by the time he is satisfied in your punishment.
He loves eating you out. Especially, during your period.
His favorite place to bite you for blood is your thigh. He is very cautious of taking too much, but he’s not in your body. So, you will have to tell him when to stop. He will make sure you are taken care of afterwards. Whatever you need, he has already gotten for you. You don’t have to lift a finger. He doesn’t want you to pass out after all.

Your second chance at life felt a little strange at times. You're afraid that it will go in the blink of an eye, you'll die, and your family will be gone forever. However, you also believed in yourself; you were determined to live a comfortable life this time, and no obstacle would stand in your way; you would make it happen. But, unfortunately, the month had flown by too fast for your taste; your free time and calm state of mind had vanished and it was already the evening before your departure; the maids were busy getting you ready.
The corsets you had to wear were one thing you didn't miss . Who had made these items in the first place? It did nothing but obstruct your airway. If you don't include the fact that there is no bed in jail cells , the days you had to wait for your execution in a filthy, loose dress were perhaps the most physically pleasant days you've ever had. Mary, your head maid, stood behind you with the rest of the maids, pulling on the corset straps to press you even tighter. The many other pair of hands were busy messing with your make-up and smoothing out your outfit.
Mary was someone you had a great deal of faith in. She was the head maid, and she filled the lack of mother figure you so craved your whole life. She was constantly looking out for your best interests and made sure you always had a grin on your face. She had a very gentle look; her burgundy hair cut short above her shoulders completing her pristine look, almond-shaped eyes, and her simple brown-colored orbs portraying her experience and emotions. Her height was taller than you, passing you with 4-5 inches, Mary had aged well, she wasn’t old per se, but she wasn’t the youngest maid in the household as well.
The days you spent in the prisons had made you ponder about her and if any other Duke or Marquess would welcome her when your house fell. The nobles were petty and liked stories; you were concerned that her association with your name might result in her losing her position, but you set those fears aside for the time being. You were here to change the past, and you weren't going to let Mary affected by your poor choices.
“Mary, you're going to leave me physically breathless!” You stated this while holding your waist to keep her from fiddling with the corset any longer.
“Dear, we need to highlight your figure! It would be a pity if His Highness did not notice your eye-catching figure!” She tries to keep her seriousness, but you don’t miss the mischievousness that falls on her lips.
“I never said I wanted his Highness’s gaze on me like that, though.” You mutter under your breath, which Mary catches with a quirked brow.
“What was that?”
“Nothing!” You smile sweetly. “Can’t you at least loosen it a little? I don’t think his Highness would appreciate me falling flat on his marble floor.”
“Oh, fine, alright.” She brushed her clothing off and took a few steps back to gaze at your shape. “The outfit will look stunning on you! I don't want to come across as disrespectful, Lady Y/n, but I'm glad you decided to alter your dress.” She dashed out to get you the dress you'd be wearing today.
“It's not at all insulting, Mary. I simply realized how...bright the other one was and decided to tone it down a few notches.” You observed as she brought the dress around.
“You made the correct decision, my Lady. This one will look stunning on you, exactly like a princess.” When she smiles fondly at you, you can’t help but feel warm inside.
Half an hour later, the dress was completely on you, and the maids had finished with your face and the jewels that adorned your body. You looked at yourself in the long mirror, your hands moving about your body, feeling the corset through the material of your dress. You had the appearance of an ancient storybook princess, but you didn't feel good about yourself. How many times have you put on gowns solely to please him? When was the last time you even wore anything because you thought it was beautiful? As much as you dreaded the prospect of seeing him again, it was unavoidable at this point. You only prayed your expression didn't reveal all the feelings you'd kept to yourself.
A knock on the door jolted you out of your reverie, “It's Mary, Lady Y/n.”
“You may enter!”
“The carriage has arrived; his Grace The Duke awaits your arrival downstairs.” She stands before the doorway as composed as she always is, but the slight breathiness in her voice gives away her excitement.
“All good, Mary,” you give an appreciative nod, “thank you for informing me. I'll be there in a minute.”
It was now or never; you weren't going to squander this second shot at life; you were going to live a long and happy life.
Tumblr media
“At long last, you've come. The carriage is waiting for you outside, and your luggage is being taken care of, dear.” As you waltzed to his side, your father met you at the bottom of the steps.
“Thank you, father,” you embraced him, leaning closer to his ear, “I hope you uphold your end of the bargain,”
“I guarantee that if you make it to the finals, I'll come and declare you the successor of the family.” His lips pecked your cheek as if to console you, smiling down at you as a knock on the door broke his focus. He waved his hand as you heard light steps fill the room, a pretty girl with an innocent gaze rushing right before you. “Of course, they'll provide you maids to help you, but the royal family also allows the candidates to arrive with a single maid.” He pointed at the girl standing before you, who had a hesitant grin ghosting on her lips, adding to her innocent gaze. "This is Adelaide,” your father explained with a proud smile, “she will accompany you to the palace."
You thought her face seemed familiar, but everything clicked into place when you heard her name: Adelaide. She wasn't your average maid. Despite being assigned to assist you during the choosing process, you had come to realize that she was nothing more than an opportunist, one that was half responsible for your collapse. She was quick with her hands, too, swift fingers pulling pieces of jewelry collection and walking off in the castle, only to wind up in small controversies with the other suitors present in the palace.
“I appreciate your kindness, father,” you press your lips together, “but I'd rather go with someone I know, like Mary!”
“Wouldn't a younger girl be preferable? Someone who is up to date on the newest fashions?” Your father persists with a quirked brow.
“Mary here keeps up with all the latest fashions! She's always helped me with everything; I'd be a lot more at ease if she came with me.” You glanced at Mary, who had her worried gaze at you as a timid grin brightened her face.
“If that's what you want, then go ahead and do it. But, Mary, you should go prepare your luggage.”
You drew Mary closer to you and offered your father a tight-lipped smile, saying, "No need, father, we can go shopping together at the capital. I believe it is past time for Mary to get a new outfit.”
“Lady Y/n–” you squeezed her side to silence her, your gaze fixed on her. “Well, we should get going; once I arrive, father, I'll write you a letter.”
“Alright then, dear, have a safe trip,” he waved as you left the household..
“Father, I bid you farewell.”
Your father was adamant, and with Adelaide's expression in her eyes, you knew you had to get yourself and Mary out of there. Your departure was a bit sooner than you had planned since you were afraid that the events might begin to repeat themselves.
In a former life, you were the first competitor to spend time with Shoto before anybody else; you were madly in love with him. Even if you do leave early this time, you will make certain that you do not run into him. Instead, you'll go to your bed chambers and leave your luggage there, then leave right away to go shopping with Mary. A diversion would be beneficial to your thoughts, and shopping was something that always managed to improve your mood, allowing you to plan your activities.
You and Mary stepped out your front door, only to be met by an excessively decorated carriage. It appeared to be too much red and white with an awful golden frame, ensuring that everyone knew who it belonged to. Who was the architect of the palace? You'd never believe how you used to think these designs were 'beautiful.' Love has a way of messing with people's heads; you want to make fun of yourself.
When you and Mary arrived, the two guards in front of the door perked up and opened the door to let you and Mary into the carriage. You observed as Mary fiddled with her hands, avoiding eye contact. “I apologize if my request was a little too sudden, but you're the one person I trust to be at my side. Plus, we'll start shopping as soon as we get there! I think it's about time you received some new clothing; I can already see how lovely you'll look in them!”
As you took your seats, you placed your hand on hers to ease her down. The blush rising to her cheeks didn’t go unnoticed by you, “You’re too kind, My Lady. I’m honored you see me capable of assisting you throughout your stay.” you smiled. She was, indeed, a remarkable woman.
When you think back, you wonder how Mary survived after you and your father died. She's always been a kind, understanding force to be reckoned with, but your image most likely influenced her job. These notions in your brain caused you anguish; you and everyone you've ever loved had to endure enormous suffering simply because of an allegation and your naive love. You'd make certain that everyone you cared about had a good life, no matter what.
Tumblr media
“We've arrived, My Lady.” Mary's voice jolted you out of your reverie as you gazed out the carriage windows at the grandeur of the royal palace. The magnificent gates and entryway never failed to astound you. It was encircled by a big forest full of thousands of trees, and the unusually large gates stood tall with exquisite patterns constructed on them, providing a one-in-a-million vista throughout the kingdom. Despite the carriage's negative impression of the family, the palace had the most thought-out and intricate design ever; it was a sight to see throughout the entire nation.
The palace was not designed by the present dynasty; it was left by the former emperor who died of old age; it was reasonable to say his reign was the golden era of the empire, acclaimed for how much the kingdom prospered under his control, he was always remembered.
When you and Mary stepped out of the carriage, you found yourself staring at a woman and a man, both gazing at you with judging eyes and pressed lips. You recognized them, head maid and butler of Prince Shoto, as well as three additional maids behind them, whom you knew as Hollie, Margaret, and Bethany. Roselyn and Damien, the head maid and butler, you'd known since you were a youngster. They were always present when you arrived at the palace for your weekly sessions with the royal tutors and treated you just like the Prince himself. You'd never forget the sight in their eyes on the day of the execution; remorseful, for you or for themselves; you had no idea.
The other three maids behind them weren’t much different; because they were fed lies about your obsessive love, they never exactly welcomed you warmly; only Margaret opened her eyes after seeing the hatred and abuse you received. However, because her generosity was motivated only by pity, you could never accept her acts and words.
“We extend our greetings to Lady Y/n of the L/n Dukedom.” You observed as they all curtsied as a gesture of respect; you opened your fan to hide the smirk that was growing on your lips. Then, with a nod of your head, you motioned for them to rise, saying, "It's fantastic to be back here, Roselyn." Nothing has changed, as far as I can tell.” Roselyn walked towards you, lips curled in a grin, her voice as if it was mocking you. “Your presence has been much missed around here, Y/n. Should we grab your baggage so you may pay a visit to His Highness?”
This was the crucial question. This was the point at which you would initiate the sequence of actions that would alter the events of your prior life. You lowered your fan as you looked at Mary, saying, "Actually, I intended on going shopping for my maid and me. However, I would like it if my luggage could be placed in my bedchamber.” Damien and Roselyn's looks were the most pleasurable you'd felt in a long time; to say they were surprised would be an understatement.
You, who has never refused to pay Shoto a visit, who has always been at his side seeking his devotion, refusing to see him? They'd best get accustomed to it since it was going to happen a lot more now.
“If that's what you desire. We'll have your room ready for you when you return; when should that be?” she said hesitantly, motioning for the servants to bring your belongings, Damien trailing after them. “Perhaps an hour or two? I'm not sure what to say. There are several shops I'd like to visit,” you said innocently as you watched them. “All right, sweetheart, we'll get started right now. You will be accompanied by the guards while shopping. You may utilize the carriage you arrived in.” You didn't even bother answering, instead you dragged Mary, who had stood calmly during the event, back onto the carriage.
Tumblr media
A person stood beside the window of his study, watching the proceedings unfold, but he took a seat behind his table before the Lady left. He had a lot of work to do and couldn't keep his thoughts occupied with every single contestant that arrived today. He had a hunch he'd see the Lady who had just arrived in his office shortly. It was a pattern he wanted to avoid since she was constantly around, and if she wasn't, her name was referenced every corner he turned; it irritated him to some level.
A knock on his door snapped him out of his trance, and he braced himself for the voice that never seems to leave his head. “You are welcome to enter.”
The door opened to show his head maid, Roselyn, who merely said, "I greet His Highness, Prince Shoto," and curtsied. Shoto had a puzzled expression on his face; why weren't you next to Roselyn? When you visited, you were always by her side to meet him; what was different this time?
“Where has Lady Y/n gone, Roselyn?”
“She stated that she wanted to go clothing shopping with her maid. Your Highness, she'll be back in an hour or two.”
Had you really gone shopping? What happened to having your clothing custom-made for you? And why was he bothered that you hadn't come to welcome him as usual? He must have gone insane; it was better this way; he didn't want to raise your aspirations any higher than they already were. It would only lead to a dispute between the L/n Dukedom and the royal family, which no one desired. “All good, I appreciate you alerting me. You may leave now,” he said dismissively to Roselyn.
He had a lot to accomplish, and if he wanted to do everything before the royal court met, he needed to get started right now.

The next thing that got to him was your smile. It shouldn’t be possible for a simple upturn of lips to affect him this much.
“There you are.”
Shoto jumped, internally kicking himself when he saw you staring at him in amusement behind your fan.
A coat was draped across your shoulders, but the young prince could still see your red dress from the ball under it.
“I was waiting for you,” You dipped into a curtsy, glancing up at him with a wink. “Prince Shoto.”
Something sparked in Shoto’s heart. It felt electric.
“It was not my intention to keep you waiting.” He responded, shaking his head. “And please, call me Shoto.”
“Matters to attend to?” You inquired, closing your fan as you tore your eyes away from him. “Details about tonight’s ball, I presume?”
Shoto nodded, joining your side. There was silence for a second before you spoke again.
“You’ve been staring at me quite a bit today.”
The prince almost choked on his own spit.
“Dare I say you were interested in me?”
That was not one of all the things Shoto had expected you to say. Recovering, he glanced at you with his mouth agape.
“You intrigue me,” He explained, composing himself. “Your eyes are strikingly beautiful.”
“Quite the compliment coming from yourself,” You teased, glancing at him. “I’m Y/n. Y/n of Musutafu.”
“So you’re a princess.”
“I’d prefer to be referred to without my title.”
“Likewise,” agreed Shoto. “Was the ball to your liking?”
Chuckling, you didn’t bother to hide your scoff as you shook your head. “Honestly? It was such a bore.”
Shoto’s jaw felt loose as it fell open once more. Your blatant honesty was simply astounding.
“The entire arrangement was a ruse for you to gain consort. I saw the number of princesses lining up to dance with you. I suspect your dance card was fully booked.” You paused, noticing his surprise. “Cat got your tongue?” you baited, leaning against the railing as the snowflakes danced across your face.
“I’ve never met someone as blunt as you,” Shoto admitted. “I’m not used to it.”
“It’s not out of malice. It’s just who I am. I don’t see a reason to hide how I feel if it is unnecessary.” You shrug. “But I never thought I’d catch your attention.”
“Prince Shoto Todoroki, heir to the throne in less than two months. You’re the definition of poise and perfection. Your kingdom must be so assured to have an heir like you.” You recited with a sigh.
Shoto cringed at your words, glancing away from you. “Your words are flattering.” He responded flatly.
“Sore spot, got it,” You observed, offering him an apologetic smile. “My apologies.”
That shouldn’t have been the first time anyone had noticed his true feelings.
That shouldn’t have been the first time anyone had acted on it.
“I hear that you’re staying until my coronation.” He said, changing subjects. “So I’m sure to see you in the following weeks?”
“Your father has been most welcoming, but I’m not that big of a fan of his rigid ruling.” Your voice dropped to a whisper. “Or of him in general.”
Shoto laughed, his first one that night. “You have good judgement.”
“You have a good heart.” You shoot back, nudging him. “I should be off now. Midnight draws near.”
Don’t go, Shoto found himself wishing. It was his first time talking to someone this down to earth, this amusing.
“I will see you again, won’t I?” He asked, watching you walk back into the castle.
You turn around, giving him one final curtsy. When you look up, he sees a smile that makes his breath stutter, and he’s glad he doesn’t have to reply when you wink at him again and reply.
“In due time, Shoto.”
Anticipation was a word that took on a new meaning when Shoto learned how it really felt. It was the sensation of your heart pounding as you wait for something you don’t know when will come, and Shoto found it exhilarating because suddenly, Shoto’s world was no longer confined to his day-to-day tasks.
It didn’t mean he liked it, though.
The next time the prince saw you was a week later.
Shoto was never one to walk through the palace gardens, but when he saw you wandering the snowy grounds, he immediately threw on a coat of his own and raced his way there.
Throughout the week, every spare second had him looking out the nearest window, or asking the nearest servant where you had gone.
He’d visited your quarters more than once, and yet, he never found you in it.
Which was what led him to stand in the chattering cold as you observed the flowers of the frosty winter.
“Are you going to spend all your time looking at flowers?” Shoto asked when he realised that he either hadn’t been noticed, or brutally ignored. “Or do I need to ring a bell in order to get your attention?”
“I was wondering when you were going to speak up,” You laughed, standing up to full height before facing him completely. “What brings you here, Shoto?”
He was moments away from berating you. How could you leave him to find you after those dramatic words of promise? Your implication was misguided, and in the end, it resulted in him running around like a headless chicken to search high and low for you.
But that was when you grinned at him. Shoto refused to call it a smile because this was a cheeky grin. It made his anger melt ever so slightly at the raw emotion from under it.
“You should have visited,” Shoto replied, less sourly than he intended. “You can’t just tell me ‘In due time’ and pretend I don’t exist, Y/n—”
“You really think I haven’t tried?” You frowned looking offended. “You’re busier than you look, Your Highness, it’d be easier to find a needle in a haystack than to find you in your maze of a castle!”
Shoto opened his mouth to refute, but no words came out. “That’s…fair.” He said slowly. “But you weren’t exactly easy to track down either, Princess.”
“Oh, getting daring with the nicknames, are we?” You cocked a grin. “In all seriousness, it’s good to see you again. Breaks are beneficial to your mental state, aren’t they?” You look away from him, a smile taking shape on your face again. “On another note, your garden is absolutely enchanting.”
As if to emphasise your point, you leaned down again, inspecting the flowers in front of you. “I suspect these tulips will be very beautiful when they bloom.”
“Flowers aren’t my strong suit,” Shoto admitted. “But I recall a bouquet of tulips we have preserved in the palace if you want them. I think they suit you quite well.”
You raised an inquisitive eyebrow, giving him a curious gaze. “Why do you think that?”
“Well,” Shoto said, plucking a variegated tulip and bringing it to him. “If my memory serves me right, these multicoloured tulips are meant to signify ‘beautiful eyes’.” He handed it to you, eyes never leaving yours. “I think that suits you perfectly.”
Your eyes are the window to your soul, and that was why Shoto could tell by the way they darted away from him….
That you were flustered by his words.
You took it from his hand, forcing yourself to make eye contact with him once more. “They also symbolise true love, Shoto.” You peered at him with wise orbs. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
There was a grin playing at your lips as you collected your nerves, one that made his mind race because now, you had turned the tables on him.
That smile was one he loved to see, filled with genuine feelings all proudly on display. It wasn’t posh, and it wasn’t dignified, but that made it all the more better.
Shoto’s heart thumped loudly in his chest, nervousness like nothing he’d ever felt before beating on him like a drum.
“I don’t know,” He confessed. “But maybe in time, I will.”

A mistress to the wizard prince, you are keenly familiar with the secret passageways of the castle. You had not intended to fall so helplessly in lust with Shoto, but it’s as if you’re fated to. And now you regularly fall into bed with him. You assume Todoroki is indulging you to spite his father, the King. While it is true that Shoto detests his father, bedding you is something he does purely for his own pleasure.
His quiet, unsocialized disposition has earned him the title of “boy prince.” It enrages him. As a child, King Enji isolated Shoto, only allowing him to train and study. He was the prodigal son, he would inherit the kingdom and ultimate power. But Shoto longed for normalcy and friendship. He refuses to rely on his father’s pyromantic teachings and has become cold as a result. His sheltered upbringing causes him to shut himself off from those around him. And now that he is abandoning his father’s plans for him, he finds it difficult to join others in conversation or romantic pursuits.
Shoto is reserved in most things, timid and unfamiliar. He’s only been able to experience so little of the world and its wonders. But in the act of loving you he is certain. The way you moan his name ignites something within him. Fire cannot be made to feel afraid. The frost of his fear is evaporated by burning desire and you both are engulfed in passion. He thrusts deeper in the heat of your core, pressing your knees up to your head with them hooked over his shoulders. He is barring down from above you, covering your neck in wet, hungry kisses. Your deep, gasping breath hitching at a sudden bite.
“Sh-Shoto… ‘m close,” you mewl over his low growls and the wet squelching from where your bodies join.
One hot hand closes around your neck as Shoto straightens up above you, he brings an icy thumb to run circles at your clit. His pace doesn't falter, masterfully burying his cock into you. The sudden stimulation blinds you as your eyes roll into your head.
“Not yet, princess,” he says. “Wait. For. My. Command.” Each word is punctuated with another thrust deep into your walls.
“P-please… my prince,” your begging through tears and choked gasps.
“As you wish, my love.” His words completely undo you.
You clench around him, the heat in your core finally bursting around Shoto’s cock in fluttering waves. He drops your legs, allowing them to rest on the mattress as he lays above you. He continues rolling his hips into you as you come down from your high, still chasing his own. His breath is hot on your neck as he nuzzles into you. The aftershocks of your orgasm push Shoto past his limit and he spills himself inside you.
His sweaty body collapses against yours, both of you panting heavily. He stays on top of you, leaving his dick sheathed within you.
Nibbling on your ear, Shoto whispers, “I’m want to make you a queen and stuff you full of little princes and princesses. Do you like the sound of that, my love?”
His thumb is still rubbing lazy circles on your overstimulated clit. You can’t resist lifting your hips towards his hand, “Y-yes, my King,” you breathe.
