#quirkless deku endgame

hii, so what do you think will happen to Deku?? ive been seeing soo many people on my tl saying that he'll end up quirkless and i know its not supposed to be like that but now idk anymore and with this last chapter i think he may end up quirkless which i hate btw. Anyways, what are your thots on this and where do you think the memory thing is going?
I'm sorry to say, but I've been a "Deku ends up quirkless" again truther for many years. To me, narratively, it just makes sense for the overall set-up of the main question of the manga: "Can I be a hero?" which has kept coming back in the endgame to come full circle.
Tumblr media
In this story, we have learnt that all kinds of people can become heroes: people with "villain quirks" (like Shinsou), people with niche quirks (Aizawa, Monoma), people with troublesome quirks (Mirio), people who don't even use their quirks to be heroes (Hatsume). So I don't see how it would be only the MC, who needs specifically the greatest power in existence to be a hero. Deku needs to be able to face his quirkless middle school self and tell him with all confidence that "you can be a hero too".
To me, given how OFA evolved (the multiple quirks, the shortcuts to 100%, the short learning time), it would make sense if Deku's journey is not to be an empty chalice / tool for OFA, but OFA to be the tool for him to discover his own strengths (physical, mental, battle IQ, etc.), learn how to fight and help him to become a hero.
All Might even did the test run for an Armored Hero, mimicking the quirks of Class A and held up against AFO just as well if not better than people with quirks did. That plot is way more fitting for Deku who has actually been relentlessly studying his friends' quirks and with proto-Deku being an actual tech hero.
And on top of it, I think that Deku staying as ridiculously OP as he is would not give him a happy ending. OFA has no reason to exist once AFO (the quirk) is gone for good. Staying so OP would send Izuku down the road of All Might 2.0 - whether he wants to or not - with no life for himself. He's self-sacrificial enough that if he has the power to do everything, he will keep doing it and run to every corner of the world to help. It's isolating and that rat race is not what makes Izuku as a person happy.
He's someone who likes to hang out with his friends, stop to chat with people he saved and make candy apples to make them smile. That's where his true happiness lie imho.
The only question mark I have is because of Bakugou's ridiculous power-up. I've always thought Bakugou and Deku will end up around the same power level in the end (to keep the whole rivals thing going into post-franchise movies). Probably Shouto too, but that's less of a given.
But now, I'm not sure how Horikoshi will balance this. Bakugou is still nowhere near full-power Deku, but Armored Deku I don't think would be a credible rival to 2xAwakened Bakugou. So because of that, I can imagine, Hori will do the typical Hori-thing and won't commit and will go instead for some half-ass solution of nerfing Deku just so (e.g. having him keep Black Whip or have some asspull of the super strength fuse into his DNA, or get a quirk back from Tomura...) and then keep the fandom arguing who is stronger.
For me, the narratively more compelling story is to have Deku wake up quirkless after the big battle, after he saved the world and getting a few chapters of him getting back to his feet, and not a single soul question whether he still belongs to the hero course because of course he does. And then have absolutely everyone help him - to pitch in money to develop his armor and help him train and everyone (and especially Bakugou) treat him as absolute EQUAL and as an inspiration. And then have him graduate from UA as the first ever quirkless hero ever (and go on to work as hero partners with Bakugou probably).
Hori said that he has a lot of stuff he wants to draw after the war, and I think something like this would make sense.

Time to be delulu yet completely serious on my bnha 423 opinions.
Good points: The resolution between AFO and Yoichi was satisfactory, love as a reason for evil and evil deeds, the rooftop trio having one final moment full of emotion, the moment of Kurogiri thinking about Tomura and the LOV, Deku having a quirk of his own born out of determination and hard work, Deku as the protagonist of bnha in general, Tomura's last actions and words.
Bad points: Rushed arc conclusions, moments that felt kinda repetitive or lacked the punch given that we've seen/lived them before, not the best compositions we've seen from Horikoshi on the panels, Tomura's arc being rushed to a martyr ending— for impact???? ( or it ending on another cliffhanger that is gonna turn to be different from what we expected ).
I'll go in depth, so please check under the cut.
GOOD POINTS:
Yoichi and AFO:
The last conversation among these brothers was everything I was expecting. The love was there and it transformed them. It made AFO a monster and Yoichi a ghost.
For me, this time the AFO ending needed to be quick because we've already said goodbye to him too many times. This was supposed to be about AFO's refusal to give up on his brother and the unresolved relationship of those two.
I really liked how Yoichi reminded AFO that he needs to face the consequences of his actions and that he's love won't be able to save them.
Villain love:
Love as a reason for pain and destruction is perhaps one of my favorite tropes. So many stories approach love as this purely morally good feeling, when in the end it is just like any other feeling, you know?
People go to war for love all the time. They kill for love. Die for love. Do unforgivable things for love. Human existence is sooooo complex, why would love be the exception?
Horikoshi has been REALLY careful with the AFO backstory and his motivations. He didn't want an antagonist that felt empty. He made AFO human without redeeming him, okay? Because our ability to sympathize with some of AFO's traits doesn't make him less evil. To put it simply, it means that evil things are also human at heart.
Even those acts that you can't forgive or forget are motivated by something.
Kurogiri and the rooftop trio:
We knew from the beginning they were not the main characters of this manga.
We've gotten their story through glimpses and moments. Their time together had always been somehow rushed. Too many things to say, not enough time and they are on opposite sides of the war after all.
We knew that Kurogiri would go back because we knew he would protect Tomura during the final fight. We knew that he'd help the heroes defeat AFO. We knew he'd have to make his choice and say his goodbyes to his old friends.
Kurogiri, Tomura and the LOV
"He's friends are waiting" along with the image of Spinner asking Kurogiri to bring Tomura back to them was the highlight of this chapter for me. (You all expected it, right?)
Something about the way it reads like a father who wants his son to live because he is being waited for. He has friends who love him and would do anything to protect him, see him safe and sound. Something about the symbolism of Spinner putting Father (aka Kotaro's hand) on Kurogiri's face as he asked for it.
This chapter acknowledged that Kurogiri and Shirakumo share the same character core. They are always the protectors, the ones who would sacrifice themselves to see their charge survive. Similar to how Mic was waiting for Shouta so Shirakumo made sure that Shouta would survive, Kurogiri wants to do the same for Spinner and Tomura.
This alone would require an entire post to elaborate.
Deku's quirk:
The debate between endgame quirkless Deku or endgame OFA user Deku is settle.
I really liked that Deku got a quirk on his own that was born out of his own determination to be a hero. It's a nice representation of all he is as a character and what he stands for. Similarly, I enjoyed a lot the fact that it was short-lived. I'm the type who likes it better when things require a sacrifice or when miracles have their own conditions.
Deku doesn't feel overpowered to me. You get that sense that he really deserves everything he has and that it hasn't been a nonsense gift from the narrative. There's also the human condition, the limitations that keep him grounded.
Bnha and Deku:
Deku defeating AFO 'cause villains and heroes help him, his friends being there for him and being there to cheer for him as he fights, his sensei being there despite the fact that Aizawa at first thought Deku wouldn't make it— all the details that make bnha what it is.
They were good.
The UA kids really keep the story consistent when it is about them. They don't give up on anyone, they fight for each other, they stay to witness things for themselves. I love them <3
Tomura's last actions and words:
Careful here. Listen to what I'm saying.
If the narrative had pointed out to this ending, this would have been a good way to execute it.
Tomura coming back along with the vestiges to pack one final punch to defeat AFO— I know many fans that would be moved to tears and would be super excited to see it. Tomura was on point in this chapter, dialoguing with Deku without the hatred in his heart, his face being clearer and almost tender.
He felt defeated, like he had accepted his death already. There's also the connection to Kurogiri and Nana (who defended him) and his words to Spinner, that are meant as a general message to depict how much Tomura values the LOV.
Even the fact that AFO kept him around 'cause a part of him loved / cared about Tomura feels fitting, but I'm not sure if I correctly read the leaks in that part...
Anyway, we got the old trope of the antagonist who used his last moments to help defeat the real villain. It serves as his redemption and the expectation is for the public to feel sorry bad for him.
BAD POINTS
Rushed conclusions:
In my opinion, this chapter was too fast paced and therefore was not as emotional as it should have been.
It doesn't give the feeling that it's fast because the battle is intense. It gives the feeling of too much information packed on one chapter, so nothing really shines on its own. It's way too informative, not enough action narration.
Like I said before, the fatal mistake of a story is to be boring. Art has to provoke you, it has to engage with you, question you, awake things in you. This chapter tho, many things happened at the same time and it grew a bit murky.
Repetitive moments
Again, personal opinion here.
I think certain bnha movies were a mistake. Not because they were bad or boring or whatever, but because Horikoshi wrote parts of bnha real ending into them to the point you'd say "we've already seen that" while reading bnha 423.
Deku and Bakugo teaming up to defeat AFO was so expected. Not as in "the narrative is making sense", but as in "we saw it on heroes rising".
I feel the same with the students all appearing to help Deku fight AFO. That's a typical shonen structure where the friends making space for the protagonist to reach the main villain. It was already happening, so why bring AFO back?? I think the story is over-explaining here, making everything way too obvious. We could have had AFO's resolution with Yoichi before and the students moment after. In truth, it feels like Horikoshi closed some character arcs before he should and left plot holes without explanation, so he needed to reopen to accommodate.
Panel composition:
I admire Horikoshi when it comes to panel composition. He has some amazing panels that make the story really flow, but bnha 423 isn't there.
There are too many elements clustered and empty spaces that don't feel with purpose (in manga, even the blanks must have a purpose). This chapter should have been at least two, so you wouldn't have to rush Bakugo appearing, Yoichi and AFO resolution, Kurogiri saying his goodbye to the rooftop trio and facing AFO for Tomura's sake, Deku remembering where he started and where he is, Tomura last words and the Tomura and Deku resolution...
Those are too many important plot points to illustrate in a hurry.
Also?? The panel of Tomura and Deku punching AFO is so unserious. Totally wrong place to be funny sjbdjdnd why does it even feel like the vestiges are punching air???
" Tomura's ending " :
I'm not the first to say it feels anticlimactic and as if it isn't the ending at all.
The major problem is that through the manga, Horikoshi has focused a lot on Tomura as a character, carefully developing him, giving him tropes that are often reserved for the hero or the main character, making sure we empathize with him, we understand him, hyping up Deku's journey to rescue him.
We got an entire arc from the LOV perspective. This is not the type of one sentence ending you give to an antagonist you spent so much ink and sweat on. The nonchalant way of Tomura accepting his death? The little reaction from Deku? What was the purpose of the manga building up the LOV friendship to the moment where Kurogiri told AFO that Tomura's friends were waiting for him, if you'd make him just disappear on thin air?
This reads absolutely like a bunny within a hat.
That's being optimistic.
If we want to be cynical, maybe this is all there is. I don't find it readable to end the story with Tomura dying. All that effort to save him and it ends in "oh well, he decayed along with AFO"?!
If you think about it, Toga status is unknown because we don't even know where she went or if she's still alive, Touya status is also unknown although we know he wanted to live and that the ice prevented him from further damage, we haven't seen Spinner, we don't know if Kurogiri vanished with that last attack on AFO and now we saw Tomura decaying into the wind.
Yo kill half the surviving LOV would be a bold move that wouldn't follow the narrative. The reward for the hero students should be being able to save their counterpart, so the world can regard them as the greatest heroes 'cause they save the unsalable and blah blah blah.
There's also the fact Tomura hasn't been saved yet. Tenko? Nana and Deku saved him from Kotaro. The crying kid? Saved from AFO by Deku and the vestiges and the others. Tomura? Nop, he's dying/dead. The one person Spinner really wanted to save was Tomura. He didn't know about the crying kid or Tenko. He wanted to save his friend, the "irredeemable" villain, the young man he played videogames with and fought alongside and vowed to follow.
If this is the end, it's incomplete.
So we might hope it is not the end.

BakuDeku Masterlist
All BakuDeku or Bk&Dk focused fics are here, they will be marked whether they are endgame or friendship focused!
~✨ complete~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One-Shots
I’m Turning Cold Will You Breathe Warmth Into Me? ✨ NSFW
~He knew it would end. He knew that Shouto wouldn’t be the one he was with forever despite being engaged to be married in a week. But this, this wasn’t what he expected would come from this.
No Longer A Kept Secret ✨
~Izuku has been in a friends with benefits relationship with Katsuki for six months, only they’ve been saying I Love Yous, eating in together, and leaning on each other more than they ever did. Yet when they’re in public, they’re nothing, just childhood friends that are still close and co-own a hero agency together.
Ignore My Hearts Order ✨
~Izuku pulls himself out of his bed to go start some coffee and think, leaning with his back against the counter once his coffee maker is running. Those feelings don’t go away easily, and his mom had told him that he and Katsuki just weren’t ready.
or
Izuku is a comic book writer and Katsuki is a chef, and after six years apart, Izuku might still be in love with Katsuki. He's so uncertain that one of his characters' life is on the line as he figures out what he feels.
Hunting For Friendship ✨ | Friendship
~Izuku and Katsuki get dragged to an Easter Egg Hunt at the park not far from their homes, not aware that the other was being dragged to the same hunt. Some words are exchanged, a scuffle inevitably happens, but Izuku and Katsuki just might be okay for the first time since Izuku was told he was quirkless.
Or
Three days after the sludge villain incident, Izuku is dragged from his house by his mom to go participate in an Easter Egg Hunt. He wants nothing to do with it, and that feeling gets worse by the second after he sees Katsuki there. It doesn’t settle even slightly until Katsuki calls him Izuku, not Deku, but Izuku.
High On Meds and a Fat Ass ✨
~Katsuki gets injured and has to have surgery, but it’s when he’s high on pain meds that he comes to the brilliant idea to express his love for the pretty nurse who took care of him because those freckles and his pretty, fat ass has him drooling and sweating.
Nightmares and Confessions ✨
~Katsuki takes care of his friends, especially when they’re having a bad night, but only Izuku knows that he learned how to do this from being friends with Izuku. When Katsuki has to choose between Izuku and Denki, it takes no time for Katsuki to choose Izuku even though it means he’s going to end up sharing the soft side of him with the dekusquad. Unfortunately, the LoV are meddling brats, and things go sideways fast before getting better.
Your Lyrics Move Me (Take My Heart) ✨
~Katsuki fell in love with the song-writer, the lyrics had his heart from the moment he heard them, but things don’t always turn out the way we want them to. Katsuki’s heart breaks when he realizes that he’s been lied to this entire time, but he knows he’ll get through because he has his friends by his side.
Swearing You're It For Me ✨
~Denki and Eijirou come up with the idea of using a swear jar and competition to get Katsuki to cut back on the swearing around the kids that Denki babysits. Katsuki spends most of the week completely dominating the challenge, until a hot green-eyed Angel moves into the empty apartment next door.
More Than Friends ✨
~Izuku thought he and Katsuki were moving towards a romantic relationship until he sees Katsuki and Camie kissing after Katsuki cancelled their plans.
Just Talk To Me Please |hints of NSFW |✨
~Izuku has spent the last month feeling like he and Kacchan have reverted back to middle school but without the bullying. So, after trying one more time, Izuku decides he’s done trying. If he’s going to give Katsuki what he deserves, then he’s got to listen to what he’s trying to say… Izuku is going to find out the hard way that communicating would’ve saved them the trouble they get in though.
Can You Admit This Too? |hints of NSFW |✨
~After a quirk makes them kiss, Izuku and Katsuki are doing their best not to let it ruin their friendship. It’s actually easy, but when it comes to public reception, including within Endeavor’s agency, they’re struggling majorly. So, they end up suspended temporarily while Endeavor handles the hate to make them more comfortable. But he lets it slip that he thinks Izuku and Katsuki are dating, then Shouto says everyone thinks they’re in love with each other, and Izuku rides that wave of information right into another kiss.
Bad Days & Unlikely Support ✨
~Izuku has a bad day, and Katsuki, Shouto, and the Bakusquad make it better. The next day starts off good, detours when Ochako and Tenya try to talk to him, then it settles into a happy day with Aizawa making it clear that he supports everyone and their boundaries and won’t settle for less from his students.
Chaptered
Chained Until You Came For Me |TW- Abuse, rape referenced, and slave mentions, so NSFW |
~His hands go for his own dagger on his belt when the blonde licks Izuku’s neck.
“You really want this worthless little thing? I promise, he’s not as much fun as you think he will be. He’s constantly disobeying us, and he’s never earned us good money when others wanted to have fun with him. I’m sure we could offer a handsome thing like you something better.” The brunette is speaking to him while she lightly smacks Izuku’s cheek, voice sly and almost sensual. If Katsuki was actually interested, he’d fall for it, but he’s always had a thing for green.
~This summary is subject to change once I finish the piece~
Dying To Be With You |TW//Pay attention the tags within it’s a Fear Street AU, and follows closely, will be chaptered eventually|
~Izuku is heartbroken as he mourns the loss of the relationship he had with the love of his life, until they’re suddenly thrown together to fight the evils simmering in the history of Shadyside. Now, he and Katsuki have to depend on their friends and each other to figure out how to survive what’s coming their way.
Or
The Fear Street Au nobody asked for until my friend did.
Do you think all might will fulfill his promise to Inko of protecting izuku and fight alongside him in the battlefield at some point? How do you think the ending will play out?
I’ve talked about this a bit here and here, but will try to flesh it out more. While All Might thinks that part of his promise to Inko involves protecting Izuku (especially when he was feeling guilty about the war and deciding to run off with “Dark Deku”), keeping Izuku safe was not actually the #1 thing she asked for. She asked All Might to stay alive and live well (properly) so he can look after/raise Izuku. Inko is an observant momma (Izuku inherited it from somewhere!) and she knows Izuku’s selflessness well because she’s similar. Once All Might is on the floor and being honest(ish) with her, she immediately grasps that he too doesn’t take himself into account. It’s more important to her that All Might set a good example of deciding to live and showing self-care, rather than being Izuku’s bodyguard, because she knows Izuku lives for All Might and imitates All Might.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We don’t get Inko’s reactions at all in Ch.309 when Izuku insists he has to go, or when All Might says he’ll follow Izuku, but it seems she’s accepted that her son is a hero at heart. She’s worried and she doesn’t like it, but (1) she can’t stop the world’s most powerful teenager; and (2) she’ll swallow her own fear if it means her son feels fulfilled, which we saw before with All Might’s home visit. Given that we don’t get another scene of Inko talking to All Might, I don’t think she wants to double down on him protecting Izuku. Inko knows All Might has no power and can’t stop Izuku any more than she can.
I think it’s important to flag that All Might’s promise isn’t strictly about “protecting” Izuku because it helps explain what happens next. After Ch.327 and 335, All Might’s inner monologue makes it clear he’s going to be an “active player” and “join the fight” with 1-A and “follow these kids where we that inner flame leads them.” All Might is starting to lean into his individual strengths and experiences without OFA. For example, Izuku mentions how All Might’s bento boxes gave him strength, but in the fight now it’s Lunch Rush cooking for Momo, because that’s a better use of Lunch Rush’s skill than All Might’s.
Tumblr media
All Might isn’t inspired solely by Izuku anymore, and Izuku’s not just living for All Might. Their network has grown bigger than that — All Might even thinks about how he feels reassured (maybe even protected?) by 1-A.
Tumblr media
I honestly don’t know how it will all end, but I remain confident that All Might is going to live. We’ve been seeing a LOT of art and references to Prime All Might in this arc, plus quirkless vestige All Might making more appearances. The man and the heroic spirit he inspired worldwide are incredibly important in the endgame. As Aizawa said, many people gain strength from All Might’s presence, and in return, many people care about All Might and are willing to lend strength to him.
But that doesn’t mean it’s JUST All Might and Izuku taking care of each other — it’s all of the students, heroes, civilians, and villains that need to work together to end AFO. So no, I do not think All Might and Izuku will have a literal side-by-side smash moment. (That’s the ending of the Two Heroes movie.) But they will come together somehow. Perhaps it will be soon-ish, and they’ll prop each other up in an “all is lost” moment. Or it will come closer to the very end; for example, I could see Izuku and Shigaraki in the physical world and All Might and Bakugo in the vestige realm teaming up against AFO. Or maybe there will be some way that Second’s quirk unlocks OFA power-sharing and All Might’s embers come back to help him bridge a gap between, say, heroes and citizens. Maybe Second’s quirk makes All Might’s vestige light up inside every hero and civilian that’s ever admired him, and that gives the heroes a vestige army to fight AFO. Or maybe a Mecha Might will emerge to face Kaiju Spinner and/or Gigantomachia. There are still many crazy possibilities for the battle.
Alternatively, I can see All Might’s biggest role coming AFTER the battle, helping citizens put their lives back together, building a better hero society, and looking after Tenko. Those are things that Izuku can’t quite do as a 16-year-old kid that needs to start his second year of high school. But that’s not to say Izuku would have no role, especially when it comes to being friends with Tenko and Himiko (not sure about Izuku with Toya, but Izuku IS close with Shoto…)
The breeze before the Storm
So I decided to start doing small writings of some moments in the Healer Deku AU I am developing with @zaiban2989, and today we get a looksie at this Deku1s childhood and the event of the manifestation of his quirk
Warning: This is a bkdk endgame AU, don't like it/ You know where the exit is, for the rest that likes it or is indifferent but respect the tastes of others, have a good reading!
“Oi, Deku…”
The ash blond boy said as he approached Izuku slowly, who was shaking and couldn’t even breathe or speak, he walked closer to him, and Young Midoriya now dropped to his knees.
“You can’t look scared every time I’m about to kick the ball to you!”
“B-but, Kacchan? That’s our 3rd ball and…So far, you have kicked it towards everything…And everyone”
Another boy near them was lying on the ground breathing heavily with another, who was larger than him and sported a pair of dragon-like wings, managed to get up despite looking so tired and sweaty and exclaimed
“Kacchan, Izuku has a good point...We’ve been out here for hours and it is getting too hot, can’t we go back to Mrs Midoriya’s place?”
“Urgh! Fine! But only because she said she would be making spicy noodles!”
The other boys celebrated and walked in a single line behind Katsuki on the way to Deku’s apartment, the green-haired boy walking near the end with the winged boy, Tsubasa, who is chatting about a cartoon both have been watching together about a bat-themed hero and his sidekick, Tsubasa’s grandpa had some old tapes in his attic and after finding out Inko has a cassette player and an old tv model the two have been fixating on it for a while, Deku likes that the hero doesn’t have powers, while Tsubasa enjoys how the hero is bat themed, which he wishes to go for when he becomes a pro.
Meanwhile, Tesaki and Hashiga were arguing over a video game both have been playing, a fighting game involving ninjas and samurai in an old but mystical version of Japan that was certainly way too mature for their age due to the presence of gore, but their parents haven’t found out about that, although Hashi hoped his young half brother did not find out about it, he would most likely tell their moms about it.
And finally, Katsuki remained looking forward while leading the group, pressing the elevator buttons and making sure none of the boys got separated, they all had similar ages but he was the oldest, so a babysitter by default in his mind.
After arriving once more at the apartment, Tesaki and Tsubasa wasted no time in hogging the electric fan for themselves, Hashiga made his way to his backpack to grab the comic he was reading, and Izuku and Katsuki answered Inko’s call to help her set the table for their lunch while doing so, the two boys chatted away about what happened at pre-school, Katsuki had manifested his quirk, one of the first in the entire class to do so along with Tsubasa and Tesaki, Izuku, of course, congratulated his best friend but had doubts about when it would be his turn, half of his friend group manifested their quirks, and Hashiga was born with it, having had his teeth all grown as a baby, but nothing on Deku’s end, Katsuki reassured him that he should not worry so much, it would come eventually, after all, they were going to be a dual after all.
However, days became weeks…And that fateful day came, a visit to the doctor’s office,
“I think you should give up”
Said Doctor Tsubasa, in the most monotone voice, he continued, explaining that Izuku had a mutation that was used for generations to determine whether or hot a person was born quirkless, and Izuku, unfortunately, was part of 20% of the world’s population of people born without a meta ability, or quirk as more people found the former term too hard to remember or it didn’t do justice as some quirks weren’t always good or heroic like.
The news was brought to the school staff at Izuku’s preschool, and from that piece of information alone, people treated Izuku like he was made out of glass, too fragile to play with others who had manifested their quirks, too out of place to talk about what kind of hero the others wished to be and…Too weird to have friends-
“Izuku! Oi! Earth to Deku!”
“huh?! Oh…Kacchan…Guess we won’t be heroes together anymore……I’m so-”
“But that doesn’t mean you can’t play ball with us, does it?”
Deku looked at his friend dumbfounded, he wasn’t making fun of him or anything…He just…Invited him to play as if nothing happened, like it was a normal day
“…I still want to be a hero…”
“…You do know that’s impossible tho, right?”
“It is not going to stop me! I will be a hero…Whether everyone likes it or not…”
“...Heh…You sure are something else Izuku, come on, the others are outside”
“They also want to play?”
“If they say anything, I’ll just blow up their faces”
“That’s mean tho!”
Once outside, it was much like how it was in the classroom, it was as if nothing major that day happened, even if the staff was babying Deku too much, or his classmates were making weird faces every time he would walk with Katsuki, the days that came after did not change, Tsubasa even commented that it was “Kind of dumb” to look at a finger on your foot to see if you have any powers…And he couldn’t be closer to the truth
A few years later and in Elementary school, during recess, Deku and some of his classmates are talking and chatting away, when suddenly the freckled boy hears the sound of crying, as he runs towards the source upon recognizing the voice, his question of who it belonged to was right there crying and holding his own knee as it was bleeding, Kacchan had fallen from a branch of a dead tree and landed on the gravel of the playground area, some kids had left to call the nurse but Deku felt drawn to the wound, he first took his time to calm down Katsuki, the blond hated when others but Izuku saw him crying his eyes out, and he was no stranger to accidentally falling from higher places, but this felt like the first time it was actually hurting him.
Izuku looked around and saw some people whispering and giggling amongst each other, some even laughed whilst Izuku was seeing their faces clearly, he yelled at everyone to back off while hiding Kacchan’s face with a hug, once all students were gone, Deku cleaned the tears off of his best friend’s face with the most honest smile he could pull, then he used his own hoodie to clean the blood.
However, when doing so, his fingers made contact with the wound, Deku’s freckles were now glowing a shade of green similar to his eyes, and in a few seconds, the bloody scratch was closed off and had faded completely, Deku could have sworn he was now feeling something on his own knee but his thoughts were interrupted with Katsuki gushing over what just had happened.
His eyes of crimson color shined with determination and admiration, for the power he had witnessed in action, and from his best friend acting like a hero, the nurse came around soon after and Katsuki got up and told everyone that he would never need a nurse cause Deku would be making his bruises and scars go away with a simple touch and thanks to his “magical freckles”, a comment that made Deku blush immediately.
But that wasn’t all, during a class after recess, Deku tried to grab a pencil to write something down but his face was glowing now a shade of red, and next thing he knew, the pencil had broken in half, and the weird pain on his knee was suddenly gone, and the class was excited to see that Deku had finally manifested his powers, but no one was as proud as Katsuki Bakugou, who tackled Deku with a hug as soon as classes were over.
The green-haired and ash blond did not spare any details to their moms on the way back home, Inko was so overjoyed with the news, so much so that on that day she sent a text to her husband, and unlike how she had the expectation that Hisashi would leave her on read, on that night, he called her and told her how proud he was that Izuku manifested his quirk, and what an amazing one it was, healing abilities? he should be with some elit quirk users of his age, maybe in a prestigious academy in Otheon, Inko tried to argue that it was too early to think of that, but Hisashi pulled on a heartstring of hers, Izuku could be a hero…And those were the news Inko delivered to her son the next morning…And how they would leave Japan.
hai so ive been rewatching world heroes mission for an ungodly amount now
I still find that clip of the news showing Izu as a wanted criminal kinda 😳
so Ive thought about a fic plot where izuku is a falsely accused criminal and katsuki is the hero assigned to arrest him cuz yes haha
in this au;
Izuku is quirkless
Katsuki is one of the top ranked Heroes named Dynamight
Both of them havent gotten in contact since middle school graduation.
So Katsuki is assigned to a very peculiar case pertaining to a mysterious assasination of a powerful person and the suspect is unknown. but after investigating it further, he's surprised to find out that the "suspect" is Izuku, mind you, he starts to find other evidences to refute this finding, because surely Deku isnt capable of such a heinous crime??
But no, all the evidence points to him (reminder, he's falsely accused cuz he's a trouble magnet) so now unfortunately, Deku is a worldwide wanted man and katsuki has to arrest him. But here now lies the problem.
Where tf could he find the nerd?
Cuz after graduation, the two of them haven't been in contact since, and the nerd mysteriously disappeared. Like, he moved out of japan with his mom and was never heard of since.
But then shit happened and he accidentally encounters Izuku in some mountainside country area of another country.
*Queue epic chase scene, and awkward reunion conversation*
Then Katsuki finds out that it's all a false accusation and Izuku has the evidence to back it all up. (Which was also the reason why he got falsely accused, he was carrying a huge world changing evidence bag the whole time and running away for who-knows-how-long.)
So while in the countryside, both Katsuki and Izuku find a way to arrest the one actually responsible for the assasination and clear Izuku's name. (aka bkdk bonding over cave campfires and planning ehueueueue)
*Queue epic scenes haha*
Then after a long time of plans and infiltration shit, Izuku now has his name cleared and life begins anew but then...Katsuki cant help but want to see him more, so he makes up all these excuses to stay in that country a while longer and what not.
Endgame: ofc bkdk and izu moves back to japan with kacchan, with izuku's talents, he becomes part of the investigative team in kacchan's agency. <3
Hi redphlox
idk if ur still taking questions or not but I wanted to ask what you thought about the todoroki endgame since AFO looks like he may be defeated here. I see people saying that the todorokis will team uip and defeat afo and idk how i feel about that. I thought it would be shig. What are your thoughts?
Hi anonymous :)
Yes, I'm still taking questions! I love getting and answering asks. I've been very busy with life changes recently (moving, starting clinicals, lala) but my askbox is always open! ♥
I personally think, following the themes of the story, that AFO isn't the Todoroki family villain so it wouldn't make sense for them to defeat AFO. Having the three (Dabi included) team up and defeat AFO would make sense if AFO was someone who was the catalyst for their problems, but he wasn't. The family's villain was their father. Endeavor's ambition and selfish choices brought on the family's problems. In order for the family to move on, that has to be addressed (and it has been, slowly.)
If I had to guess, I feel like it would make more sense for the three Todorokis to return to UA and protect the citizens there (including Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo) from the spies AFO has planted among the refugees. Something along the lines of the Todorokis reuniting, coming to terms with the abuse and trauma, and Endeavor expressing remorse and taking accountability would fit and tie up their story line nicely
AFO is Shigaraki's villain. I mean, AFO is everyone's villain and he did try to groom Touya but Touya was like, "No thanks. I'd rather go home to my family than stay here ✌️" and the ironic thing is that Touya is alive because AFO intervened -
BUT
The person who directly is being used by AFO is Shigaraki. AFO is literally trying to take over Shigaraki's mind and body at the moment, but his involvement with the Shimura family has spanned generations. He killed Nana's husband, Nana, and probably kept tabs on Koutaro from afar and then gave his quirkless son Tenko the decay quirk, waiting for tragedy to happen so he could step in. AFO is directly responsible for a lot of the tragedy in Shigaraki's life, so it would make more sense for him to defeat AFO in the vestige (severing the link between them) before defeating him in the real world or aiding Deku.
Hope that makes sense!
Things I want to see in the endgame:
Star and Stripe's quirk being used at least once (probably on Deku).
Class 1A helping in the fight against AFO/Shigaraki (preferably by using/transferring OFA to each other).
Deku being controlled/possessed by AFO (likely after Shigaraki is saved or through Shigaraki)
Class 1A fighting and trying to bring Deku back to himself.
Ochako, Toga, Shigaraki, Bakugo, Dabi, Shoto joining in to try to save Deku/fight AFO together.
Ochako having the chance to convey her real feelings to Deku (during or after the fight).
Bakugo doing the actual saving of Deku and holding his hand when he does it.
Deku losing OFA in the process/aftermath of his fight (but preferably doing one save quirkless).
Vampires Should Come with a Manual
Vampires Should Come with a Manual by Toboe1087
Midoriya Izuku had faked his death.
Bakugou Katsuki knew it. What he didn't know was why or how, but he sure as hell was going to find out.
If fate had been kind, someone would have warned Bakugou of two things: 1) Deku faked his death for a good reason and 2) there's a difference between not-dead and undead.
Fate was not kind.
A/N: This is a spinoff of my Dabi/Keigo "Adventures of a Vamp!cat and his Master," so the first two chapters are a retelling of that content from Bakugou's pov, but then he'll face new challenges and *gasp* what's this? The vamp au finally has a plot?
thinking about the fact that horikoshi has weaved the kind of plot where the heroes are less sympathetic than the heroes, and I really don’t care if they win.
The second he switches back to the villains, not only does it feel realistic, but it also strips away the idealism that the hero side tries to convince me about
At the start of the manga, yes, i was like, “I want to see how this quirkless deku becomes number one hero” but now it’s shifted to I want to see if the system changes. I want to see if it ends up better. Because a good part of the population (apart from our heroes) doesn’t give a shit about whether society changes. They just want the heroes to win to bring back the status quo.
And some times, part of me believes, that Horikoshi through his writing puts effort with Endeavor’s redempttion/atonement, but he’s generally one of the few getting challenged by the villains to make a better system. But we’re creating more problems.
see, either shiggy is right about there being no villains and heroes, since this society can possibly benefit from anarchy, because it’s fucked up to brand people like villains, because they saw the appeal of comics to placate the audience with “the good guys always win,”
or maybe overhaul is right, in that the world needs cleansing from quirks or whatever.
But there is no guarantee that the system will not collapse in the near future without another all for one taking advantage of a vaccuum of power.
and on that note, should afo win, shiggy will rebel. Because this is not his endgame. It’s afo’s. And he wanted anarchy not a mafia state, and he will bring it down at all cost
but in the narrative, deku and pals will win, because they are the good guys. they are the heroes.
but consider the fact that that we can only root for heroes when we see their stories in entirety. Their rise. Their fall from grace. Their failings. Their wins. That’s a hero in the sincerest sense. Their journey. Their change in thought. Their growth.
And Shigaraki fits all of those categories. So in that sense, i’m saying Shiggy is the tragic hero in a metanarrative sense. And where does deku stand in regards to that?
tbh it never seemed so crazy to me Deku ending up quirkless, like bnha is kinda inspired by western style heroes from comic books and there are a lot of not superpowered heroes that are still equals to everyone else, bakugou and todoroki also aren't always going to use phosphor and cluster since most of their hero work won't be so extreme.
but regardless of deku ending quirkless or nerfed I agree that he can't keep ofa at full strength, that would just undermine a lot of the teamwork and not relying on one singular person for everything themes of bnha
Exactly. People who say "well, IronMight didn't last against AFO" - that was kind of the point. Nobody really lasted against AFO - not Tokoyami or Machia or Mt Lady or other powerful quirk users.
In most fights, heroes won't need that power-level and indeed both Bakugou and Todoroki had to learn to tone down their quirks and make small precision moves. Bakugou worked on AP Shot, and Todoroki made Flashfreeze Heatwave small-scale enough to use in urban combat without blowing the buildings away.
And Deku progressing from Superman -> Spiderman -> Batman/Ironman makes sense too.
I think people also like to say how expensive All Might's armor was - which is probably true, but if Deku saves the world here, I can imagine his power-suit will be crowd-funded if the government doesn't pay him. Plus he has friends like Hatsume and Momo who can make him things.
Putting Together The Shattered Life You Lost
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/q7o1Ap2
by KittyAcelia
He wanted to make a public appearance. The people of Japan were beginning to fear the worst. There were rumors starting to spread that he had died. Honestly, he was starting to feel like he did. He lost his arm, his leg, and most terrifyingly… He lost his quirk.
-
Izuku is forced to retire after receiving a near life ending injury. He’s decorated in scars all over his body, and after overusing his quirk, he’s left quirkless again, just as he was as a child. This fic is dedicated to Izuku relearning how to do things again, and learning how to fall into being a normal person, as he isn’t a hero anymore. There's also plenty of Dekubowl elements as I myself couldn't decide on which ship I wanted this fic to have!
BKDK IS IRREFUTABLY CANON AND HERE'S WHY
There's a lot of different ships in the mha fandom and a lot of anti baukudekus out there but I'm here to tell you that they are wrong- and here's why:
The manga hasn't been finished yet so I can't say for sure that bkdk will become legitimately canon but I can say for absolutely certain that Horikoshi 100% ships them. And even better- he WANTS US TO SHIP THEM TOO. I don't know yet if he's setting us up for a Canon bkdk endgame but it's pretty damn obvious that there's some kind of romantic going on, and hori is doing it intentionally.
There's literally so much evidence so I'm just gonna run through some of this as quickly as possible
Tumblr media
For obvious reasons- why is Katsuki on Deku's left ring finger? If we're going off of the generally accepted ochadeku then it would make sense to put her on his left ring finger, right? But who's there instead? That's fuckin right, dekus childhood best friend turned bully turned rival turned...not quite friend bc that doesn't really seem to fit their dynamic, does it? Whatever it is, however, Horikoshi thought making art with kacchan on Deku's marriage finger fit that dynamic when he could have chose literally any other finger.
And here's the thing, guys. Horikoshi knows what's up. He's not stupid. I refuse to believe that this is just a coincidence or whatever bc, look, if we weren't supposed to read into it, Horikoshi would have put mineta or someone on that finger. But he didn't, he put Katsuki there full well knowing that bkdk is the biggest ship in MHA. Full well knowing their history, the intensity they have with each other. Tell me he didn't do that shit on purpose, I dare you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Give me one single non gay reason for the entirety of this show focusing on deku and kacchan holding hands.
Tumblr media
Deku unlocked blackwhip from sheer anger at monama for talking shit on Kacchan, and then later when asked how he was able to unlock it, he lied to All Might, and said it just happened, when he knew exactly what "just happened" and it embarrassed him enough to lie to freaking ALL MIGHT so he didn't have to explain how someone shit talking his childhood friend bothered him so much he went feral and unlocked a brand new power just to KO a classmate
Tumblr media
Katsuki canonically bullied izuku because the thought of him doing things to put himself in danger when he was quirkless and unable to defend himself made Katsuki feel so uncomfortable that he chose to detach himself from his childhood friend in order to not be hurt by him. He cared about his nerd so damn much, that the thought of losing him hurt to the point that he would have rather lost him as a friend all together than continue caring about him and go through the pain of losing him someday when he wasn't prepared for it. If Katsuki didn't care for deku so intensely he wouldn't have even gone through the trouble. Kinda sounds like love, mate
Tumblr media
This didn't need to happen but boy were we blessed anyway
Tumblr media
Izuku is literally watching you every moment of the day and you want more???? Also your whole thing is supposed to be like being recognized as the best and whatever why in hell is only Deku's recognition important? You have other classmates and ppl watching u fruity bastard
Tumblr media
He's gonna be the best and be better than all might but he'd rather die than let his childhood friend/rival be murdered in front of him. Better him then that stupid nerd...right?
I don't want this to be crazy long so I'm just gonna stop but THE POINT IS- regardless, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT BECOMES CANON IN THE MANGA/ANIME, Horikoshi obviously ships them and he WANTS us to ship them too! He wouldn't put out incredibly sus official art if he didn't, wouldn't let his assistant put out those crazy adorable sketches if he didn't, there just WOULD NOT BE SO MUCH EVIDENCE IF IT WASNT CANON IN THE CREATORS EYES
Add with that the fact that Ochako is obviously supposed to be Deku's love interest but the entire thing falls flat. I refuse to believe that that wasn't done on purpose. Hori's telling us something. He cannot be able to write deku and kacchans relationship so freaking well and then supposedly write in a love interest for the MC that seems stupidly insignificant and bland. Why even put the love interest In there in the first place? He did that shit on PURPOSE. He's showing us something. I feel it in my bones, damnit.
Please feel free to add onto this with ur own things, but I would honestly be surprised if at this point bkdk didn't become Canon in the end. But, even if it doesn't, we can at least sleep well knowing that it damn well is supposed to be, and we have the creator on our side so antis can fuck right off
