I really like GMM’s new format.
Now don’t get me wrong, the change made me a bit hesitant at first. And yeah, i absolutely loved the kinda long episodes where they played a game or talked about stuff. But here’s the problem.
Current Youtube has changed its format already. Most videos are 10+ minutes long and some gaming channels, like Jacksepticeye or Markiplker have opted for live-streaming instead. It’s a cool format but it doesn’t work for many people that watch Youtube in their morning before work or school. In other words, part of their daily routine.
It’s exhausting to see an ongoing stream of extensive content every single day. And honestly, the change they made to GMM? It’s refreshing.
Now the problem doesn’t rely on the content itself. I think the problem was that Rhett and Link failed to ease everyone into everything. Maybe they weren’t in charge of that or they had no control over it, but the changes just kept coming so fast and so sudden it left most viewers pretty confused and a bit upset.
There was Good Mythical Summer, which was amazing btw, just a few guests here and there that were meh, but overall good. It made my Summer better. Also the content on This is Mythical also played a part in the confusion i think. It just seems that out of nowhere, the format changed.
They did announce it a few days before but that was it. There was no talk beforehand with the audience about it. Because there’s no need to. They did what they wanted with the show in a way that they thought was best for both the audience and them.
As I said, at first it was disorienting and bizarre and “Bring back the old GMM!” ruled the comments. Which has been happening for the last few years. At first Rhett and Link used to just sit down and talk about a topic without much preparation. And it was kind cool in its own way. But you can’t compare it with the level of production that it’s at right now. Everything changes and it evolves and so do people. Though i have to say, the lighting thing was an issue and good thing they fixed that lol.
It’s been almost a month since the format changed. Give it a chance, people. It’s really good and the guys are putting all their effort and it hurts to see so much negativity. It’s not surprising for them to be hurt by it and respond to it in their own way.
Also, if you can, go watch Buddy System Season 2! I’m hearing some great reviews and wish i could see it but i’ll settle with the first episode.

B-F-F Extended Cut. (as performed in episode 3)
Bringing this back for people who haven’t seen it. It’s unlisted and on the extra’s channel because it was initially just a prize for contest winners, but those people shared it around. The title was changed automatically after TIM was recovered from hackers.
...Its a little weird to me that RandL gave this link out as a prize and only expected it to get a handful of views, but they still put ads on it. lol

Okay if they show Links childhood scene in BS2, I'm gonna freaking lose my shit so bad! Child-Link is my weakness. He's too cute and adorable to me!
