i loved Burn the Ships, so i’m begging for more fics in which order 66 happens differently or is even fully averted that are pro-jedi order (preferably with lots of obi-wan but i love all the other jedi so not a high priority)!! it’s sooo hard to find ones that don’t force the order to change their ways or excuse anakin’s bad choices or like make him the one who prevents order 66 super easily. thanks!

Saree grimaces as Rozza readjusts her grip to help keep Saree standing. The whole mission had gone foobar and the fact that Saree was even getting a rescue… Well, she very much appreciates the fact that she won’t be left to rot and be tortured in this hellhole for the rest of her life. Which considering how things were going would have been a rather short one.

“We have to keep moving,” Rozza says in a hushed voice. Her fingers digging into Saree’s side as she peers around the corner of the hallway they’ve stopped in. Saree can barely stand, can barely pay any attention.

She forces herself back into the moment, focusing on the rough texture of the uniform Rozza is wearing. Dark grey in color and hiding the green skin beneath. The mask and hood helps hide the rest of the Mirialan’s features but if anyone gets too close a look… well it probably matters little when Rozza is carrying a prisoner out of the base.

And that itself is enough to get the both of them shot.

“Please tell me you have an actual plan,” Saree hisses quietly, as she leans further into Rozza. The dizziness from the last torture session has yet to abate and honestly she has no idea how she’s made it as far as she has.

Rozza is quiet for a moment, head still peering around the corner and Saree knows her answer just from that alone. “Rozza,” she growls, getting enough energy up to slide a hand under Rozza’s stiff uniform just to pinch her side hard enough to make the other woman hiss. “Really. You came in here with no plan?!”

“The plan is to get you out,” She mutters as she slaps Saree’s hand away from her side. “It’s fine. All the bigshots have already left, all the people here are grunts and I can take them out easily enough.”

“Oh? You can take out a whole fucking army of storm troopers now? I must have missed the part where you’ve become a one woman army and if that’s the case why haven’t the rebels used you for-” Rozza shoves her hand over Saree’s face, pushing them both back up against the wall as footsteps come down the hall.

Tag Nine People You'd Like To Get To Know Better

FAVOURITE COLOUR(s): Rusty red-orange, deep cool spruce green, bright cobalt blue, wine red, the various shades of slate green/grey/blue.

FAVOURITE FLAVOUR(s): Weirdly difficult question, in that what I think I most enjoy about food is the way that different flavors and textures complement each other to become more than the sum of their parts. But I am a huge fan of deep rich fruity-savory umami (sundried tomatoes, a great red chile sauce, things braised in red wine) as well as absolutely any kind of citrus or fresh herbs.

Also, while this isn't exactly one thing and it might be simpler just to say that I like strong flavors, I fall firmly into the These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things camp on a lot of polarizingly funky/briny things (smoked salmon, goat cheese, blue cheese, olives, anchovies, preserved lemons, etc).

Also the taste+aroma of both fresh bread and corn tortillas hot off the comal is imo the human equivalent of catnip, ie "provokes immoderate feral delight on some bizarrely primal level."

FAVOURITE MUSIC: The very sexy Bermuda Triangle where blues/rock/folk bleed into and/or influence one another. Anything else that takes my fancy, including but not limited to a lot of soul, post-punk, and highly danceable salsa or big band swing stuff. Sad jazz. Gratuitously melancholy strings. Great lyrics, great harmonies, deep rich vocals.

FAVOURITE MOVIE(s): I have never in my life been able to pick one favorite book, but Pan's Labyrinth is easily my favorite movie.

FAVOURITE BOOK(s): This is the impossible question to me but The Periodic Table, Signs Preceding The End of The World, The Things They Carried, The Little Drummer Girl, and everything Arundhati Roy has ever written are all on the list somewhere.

FAVOURITE SERIES(es): The Same Sky is exquisitely good and The Night Manager is my id-stroking comfort rewatch. I also loved Andor and the first season of Hannibal.

LAST SONG: I was just going through this tag earlier.

LAST SERIES: Thanks to holiday craft fair season I have had zero ability to do longform TV anytime within the last few months. (Also, frankly, multi-season TV series are the one of the most difficult media formats for my brain to engage with; it's a fantastic storytelling medium when done well, but I personally have a much harder time sitting down for two hours of TV than for two hours of reading and thus getting started often feels like a huge commitment. I am really a 3-6 eps and done miniseries person at heart.)

That said I am a big podcasts-while-working person and I've been listening to a lot of Friends At The Table and Bad Gays recently.

LAST MOVIE: The Wind That Shakes The Barley, which has been on the Somehow I've Never Seen This And I Really Should list for a while. It has promptly been moved to the OFC It's Possible To Make A War Movie That Doesn't Glorify War, Y'all Are Just Fools And Cowards list.

CURRENTLY READING: ...I have to admit that I'm re-reading Kissinger's Shadow (to Mark The Occasion).

CURRENTLY WATCHING: Nothing (see above), though I have ambitions of giving Black Sails a shot.

CURRENTLY WORKING ON: The sketching stage of some linocuts, some experimental worldbuild-y map-drawing (important as Cartography And Its Imperial Misuses are kinda thematically and plottily relevant to the story, at least in its nebulous conceptual form).

My thoughts:

A rarepair I'd never considered ever in my life, but....it really works???? Friends to lovers with a side of accidental marriage, this story is a lot of fun, and has a good dose of pining. Also a very fun "search for Ezra" alternate take from current canon.

Sex Worker Luke AU (series) by DarkIsRising star wars mandalorian, din/boba/luke, 37k - what it says on the tin, starts sweet then gets more serious

New Lands for the Living by SassySnowperson star wars ot/sequels, poe/luke, 50k - tagged "Slow Burn, (with a fast marriage)" it's a time travel fix-it where Poe is sent back in time to try to avert disaster and ends up on Tatooine where he meets 18-year-old Luke, who promptly marries him to get him identity papers so he doesn't get taken by slavers, so now there are two Skywalkers in the rebellion.

a simple thing by iridan star wars mandalorian, din/boba, 765k, rated E, WIP (1 chapter from the end) - jokey summary in the author's note is "Me, an idiot: I want to write a fic about Din rebuilding Mandalore! Also me, just, incomparably stupid: Okay, but only in the context of a long-term, slowburn BDSM relationship with Boba Fett." - this fic is three quarters of a million words and it has consumed me for the last several weeks. I read the entire thing in literally two days (so much for doing anything else that weekend) and have been slowly poking away at a reread because my brain is full of nothing else. The plotty action-y parts and the BDSM parts both feel like they serve the same story, if that makes sense, and the Tatooine worldbuilding is so fascinating.

I was tagged by @anghraine in a playlist meme!

Here are the rules:

you can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to. put your favorite playlist on shuffle and list the first ten songs then tag ten people! no skipping!

Not sure I’ll tag ten people at the end and my music taste varies depending on what I’m doing while listening to music, but I’ll go with my Akallabêth Campaign playlist which is very long and is a mix of instrumental / video game music + indie stuff + sea shanties.  It’s 8 hours and 20 minutes now of music and I did arrange each track with a sense of flow originally!  But I do listen to it on shuffle often.

1. The Devil & The Huntsman - Sam Lee, Daniel Pemberton (from the King Arthur: Legend of the Sword movie which has no business being as good and fun as it is!)
