I wanna post something cool, but I'm lacking ideas...

So, here we have Pancakes top 5 sharks:

Number 1: Thresher.

I just like the tail and they look utterly confused at all times.

Number 2: Cookie cutter.

They're idiots. They were discovered in the most idiotic way possible (for a shark) and the way they feed is really smart.

Number 3: Goblin.

Do I need? Ok. They look funny. And they are smart. And they have the most jaw displacement of any shark. Is it creepy? For some people, yes. Is it cool? Definitely.

Number 4: Whale. Or Basking. They're kinda tied.

Dumb, gentle giants. And they're filter feeders! Someday, when I get fully over my thalassophobia, I'll go diving with those guys!

Number 5: Hammerhead.

Again, they look confused at all times. Plus, they have 360º vision! Yes, they can see behind their dorsal fins. And the big hammer like head is actually interesting for finding sea pancakes rays in the bottom of the sea.

Do you have a favorite type of shark?

Yes. In fact I have three favorite.

I like whale sharks because I’m fascinated how this giant thing in the ocean, and yet there not aggressive. Like there just there living there lives in the ocean.

I also really like basking sharks for a simpler reason but with the added bonus of most photos of them look like they’re screaming.

And then dwarf lantern sharks, because they’re small.

Why not! I’m still trying to decide what kind of mers they would be. Whale? Swordfish? (I’m thinking Maul might make a good swordfish; fast and proficient with a “blade” lol.) Pinnipeds (seals and sea lions)? I’m kind of leaning toward sharks, specifically makos because they’re one of my favorites… who am I kidding, all sharks are my favorite sharks 😂

hold up im reading more about the lionfish thing and this one island in Honduras has had such a huge problem with lionfish that the measures they have taken include

• getting special exemption from the Honduran government to allow divers access to harpoons and spears which are otherwise illegal in fishing

• public campaign to teach people how to prepare and eat lionfish (apparently they are very tasty once the poisonous spines are removed) (but watch out)

• holding lionfish combination hunting competition and cookout (reportedly they killed and cooked 1,700 in a day) (someone killed 60 of them with a rubber band spear gun???)

• most recently and apparently out of desperation, the divers in charge of culling the lionfish in the Roatan Marine Park just started. feeding the lionfish they killed to sharks. bc what else are you gonna do with it

• the sharks don’t seem to notice or be affected by the poison and begin hanging out with the divers

• the sharks then were seen hunting and killing the lionfish on their own

like this is nuts to me sorry. the sharks just had to be shown “hey this is food, did you know?? you can eat these!! here try one!!” we are possibly altering an entire foodchain bc we like feeding the big ocean wolves

many sharks are at least moderately social, and if a specific species of shark has the ability to breathe without actually swimming and tends to have a lot of sharks in a fairly small area, well.
