You Broke up with me
Shuri x FEM reader
Summary: you and Shuri had broken up when she was in the worse state she couldn't deal with a girlfriend and grief so you left but now that you've come back all emotions come back full speed.
Warning: ⚠️ nothing too bad mentions of scars, breakup, suggestive language, pleading, and public fondling ⚠️
Tumblr media
You finally came back to Wakanda you originally left the country to study elsewhere you couldn't deal with the craziness and pain of your people. T'Challa's death the queen mother Ramonda's death and your girlfriend...ex girlfriends vengeful spirit you remember the break up like it was yesterday.
Flashback
Shuri paces the room in her black panther suit "I want him dead more than anything he's going to get it" you never saw Shuri so upset even during your arguments it never got this bad she is digging her claws into her hands. "Shuri baby you're not in the right mind this isn't you vengeance isn't you" she approaches you stoic facial expression and an assertive tone "you're going to tell me what is and isn't me?" You chuckle nervously before nodding slowly "well I've known you since we were little so yes I know this isn't you. You've never once went through with hurting someone even if they hurt you first" she scoffs at your words before rubbing her bloody palms into her thighs. "yeah and I'm tired of being nice he drowned her right in front of me" you shake your head and grab her hands trying to calm her down because right now you could see her body heat rising the more she talked about killing him. "What about your people? You're putting them at risk you're putting me at risk I'm the next person close to you what happens when you miss and kill one of his people again? I'm next do you want me dead too?" She sucks her teeth and looks you straight in your eyes before mumbling "I won't let that happen... Because we're done I can't deal with you being hurt I'd slaughter his people person by person in front of him if he even thought to lay a hand on you" you blink for a moment when she lays a bloodied hand on your cheek "I love you. You should go because you're right I'm not myself right now and even though it risks you I still want him dead." Your voice falters when you look at her now "I should go?" You ask voice breaking the more it dawns on you that she's breaking up with you after three years. Three years you were there for it all and she's leaving you know because of "protection" no this wasn't protection this was fear you had been through everything with her but she didn't want to put you through this.
End of flashback
It's like a wound that won't heal. That night. Even though you could see in her eyes she didn't want to say any of those things it still hurt. You walked through the palace silently taking it all in again you were one of the only people allowed to walk on their own throughout said palace they trusted you this was your home. You loved everything about this country but the woman you truly loved you were not looking forward to seeing to facing you weren't prepared for that. When you left you cut all ties from Wakanda with the intention of not coming back but you couldn't help yourself. You didn't know that Wakanda was still intact to be honest you left in the middle of a crisis you would fight to the death for Wakanda and its people but Shuri didn't want you to. She could do everything to fight for her people to lead them but you just had to be in the passenger seat watch and observe as she got hurt for being reckless and she listened to no one.
You're so in your thoughts you haven't noticed your kimoyo beads vibrating so maybe you lied to yourself when you said you cut off all ties to Wakanda you never truly cut yourself off from the princess. She still knew your exact location and when you were in bad condition you just couldn't bring yourself to take the gift off. It meant she cared about your safety. You answer the beads as you continue walking in the hallway "yes?" You answer hesitantly "you're here..." Was all that was said before the kimoyo beads hung up and you saw her walking towards you. You had to be honest you were a bit pissed off that she looked great her curls hanging off longer than the last time her dress slim fit. All of this beauty that you left behind you just wanted to scoop it up and put it in your pocket for safe keeping but that didn't really matter as you noticed the scars on her the slash in her eyebrow and the cuts on her arms you wondered how many more scars she had beneath that dress as she found herself in front of you. "My Queen you...look..." You couldn't bring yourself to say anything before walking past her you couldn't do it you couldn't you left when she needed you most. "Y/n you look just as beautiful as that day" you hold your tears as you continue walking if you stopped you knew you would break down in this hallway and you couldn't let anyone else see that. You speed walk to the nearest private area which happens to be a bathroom and take deep breaths calming yourself down when you hear the door creak open you stand up talk and wipe your face. "Y/n...." You turn to her and every tear just pours down as if seeing her released some silent command to let go of all of those feelings you were holding inside. "Then why'd you make me leave? If I'm still as beautiful as that day why push me away? All I wanted to do was care for you and our people" she swallows your words as if they're the largest pill in the world before engulfing you in a tight back hug head propped on your shoulder arms around your waist. "I know and I just didn't want you hurt I knew with the path I was going down I was going to hurt you. I didn't have time for love then I didn't have the patience for the love you were trying to give me," she whispers in your ear you know this is a heartwarming moment but you can't help but think of her lips so close to your face and how bad you want to kiss her after this year apart. "Do you have time for love now?" You ask turning around coming face to face with her towering over you just a bit her curls gently falling on top of your forehead. You let your left hand reach her face and pull her down both of you just barely apart you can feel her breath against your own "please say you have time for love now please tell me you won't push me away please. You broke up with me" you plead she nods "I promise I have all the time in the world for my future wife" you let those thoughts finally take over as you press your lips to her own. It feels like a dream to kiss her after so long you weren't familiar with this version of her though. In the past she used to kiss so softly but this...this was different this was passionate this was real she wasn't nervous she wasn't holding back she wanted you so bad you could taste it on her tongue the want the need.
She found her hands fondling with your jeans and you had no problem until you realized your current place "Shuri my love some one could just come in" she nods as she picks you up and places you on the edge of the sink "let them they'll only see their queen pleasing her queen the way she needs to be pleased" she pulls your jeans down in one quick yank to reveal your pretty black laced underwear "for someone who cut their life off when they left you still have a lot of the gifts I've given you just couldn't bring yourself to stop thinking about me my love?" You smile to yourself before grabbing her by her face "I can ever stop thinking about you you're in my dreams you're there when I close my eyes and you're here now." You gently grab her hand and guide it to your clothed slit "but in my dreams you're way less talkative because your mouth is full" she smiles and flashes those pretty teeth at you before grabbing one of your legs and pulling you closer to her "then let's recreate those dreams because I'm right here and I have made so many new inventions with only you on my mind" she pulls your underwear to the side and smiles at the sight of your pretty pussy "I am so sorry for pushing you away but trust I'm so much stronger now" she pulls off your underwear and drops them in the sink before picking you up and pushing you against wall your back against the cold metal and and her hand gripping your thighs.
A/n: let's not talk about how unsanitary this is but instead talk about how I made something so sad so hot let's be proud about that. -Azail
I just love this song ^^

Beach Day
Pairing: Shuri x F!Reader
Warning: Fluff and Anxiety at the end
Summary/Request: Shuri and reader spend the day at the beach with Prince T'Challa
Word Count: 0.8k+
Author’s Note: It's crazy how much the actor for Prince T'Challa actually looks like Chad.
Taglist : @melodykisses @blackhottie25 @tonakings @coalmistyy @szalipcombo @prettyluhlaiiii @yelenabelovasgf @callmeoncette @clqrosmgc @beautybyfire @homelessmicechild @theblacksuccubus @cherios @killmongerskeeper @shuris-whore @topshottad0ll
Tumblr media
The waves crash against the shore of Cap-Haïtien as the air fills with the sound of Prince T’Challa’s giggles, sending warmth and peace to Shuri’s heart. The sweet smell of the ocean breeze whipped all around the three of you as you watched the young child entertain himself by trying to build a snowman. With sand. T’Challa was the exact same oh my goodness, she thinks to herself, not being able to hide the toothy smile that forms on her face.
Leaning back, Shuri rests her head on your shoulder and takes your hand into hers, cherishing the present moment Bast has blessed her with. She was never able to see past her grief and could not fathom a time when she would be feeling content, let alone happy, without feeling guilty. In a very healthy way, Prince T’Challa allowed Shuri to heal her wounds in ways she never imagined. He is truly his fathers child; wide eyes and adorable little cheeks, the constant need to be helpful to others and clear cut speeches.
She could not have asked for more. Upon hearing about her brothers’ passing, her heart was torn beyond measure but now she can feel those pieces coming back into realignment. Of course some days are harder than others but she feels lucky knowing that T’Challa left a book and a child for her to get a sense of closure. She was grateful for the days she was able to be a part of more and more because it reminded her to continue living the life that her family would have wanted for her.
You landed in Haiti last week and ever since, you and Shuri have been experiencing some of the most peaceful days of your entire relationship. Waking up in bed to the rays of the Caribbean sun pouring through the room windows. Long early morning and late night strolls on the beach is how most of your days were filled in between building connections with many of the locals. Prince T’Challa had even attempted to start teaching Shuri Creole but his little lisp made it a little difficult to understand but nevertheless he still tried.
From the outside looking in, the Princess mirrored the previous version of herself that never endured all the pain she had been through. She had started to eat more regularly and opened herself to others more. Her skin was glowing at every second, eyes bright as the night stars and her smile. That smile of hers never seemed to leave her face.
Being in a foreign place with those she was familiar with allowed her mind to expand past all that she had endured back home, bringing back that sense of tranquility and letting her ground herself in the most important thing she tried to push away: love.
Having so much taken from her made it hard to appreciate those that still surrounded her. As everyday passed, she found herself believing in the words her late mother once spoke to her. “Your brother may be dead, but he is not gone.” Some days, she swears she can hear T’Challa laugh alongside his son’s. Shuri is finally able to properly move on without having to say goodbye.
Turning her attention back to the boy, she calls him over so that she can sandwich from the picnic basket that his mother had put together for the three of you. Watching him bite into his meal with crumbs littering his chubby cheeks, Shuri felt as though her heart would explode with joy as she played with his beautiful natural curls. Even Griot let her know that her heart rate was accelerating.
Joining him, the two of you enjoy your sandwiches and juice boxes because what is a picnic without a juice box. The glorious sun begins to set on you all, casting a vibrant purple and orange sky as Prince scurries back to the shoreline. He was able to entertain himself with absolutely anything around him. Taking a quick glance at you, Shuri’s mind can’t help but travel to the future, envisioning what it would be like if the two of you had children you would call your own. Waking up at the middle of the night to screeching cries, having to change countless diapers and the possibility of one of your many children looking just like you, is something Shuri would surely die for.
Prince had insisted that he didn’t need any help with any sand castle or artistic creations so it was a bit off putting when he rushed over to you two, interrupting a sweet kiss that you shared.
“Aunties! I said he needs help!”
He? Who is he? Maybe he was feeling connected to his father again or something but his father passed peacefully. Scanning around the area, there was nothing and no one else in sight.
“Prince,” Shuri called to her cousin, beckoning him closer because based on his body language, the young boy was extremely uncomfortable. “Who needs help? Do you want us to help you with your—.”
“The water man. The water man needs Aunty Shuri!”

Do you want to?
Pairing: Shuri x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Shuri was sitting mindlessly in her lab, it was one of the days wherein she wasn’t busy. Although those days are rare, they happen and when those days happen they always align with your not-busy days. Those were the days you’d spend with each other’s company, however, today was different. You were busy with reports and reading proposals for what they think is the betterment of the Outreach Facilities.
So Shuri decided to venture to your office and as she reached it, she simply barge in, you however, didn’t almost notice her.
“Are you not busy my love?” You asked her. She simply shake her head no and sat in of the chairs in front of your desk “What are doing here my love? I’ll bore you out and I’m so sorry I couldn’t hang out with you today” You told apologetically “I came here not to hangout but to see you work” Shuri told you bluntly and resulted to you tilting your head to the side and had a puzzled look “I haven’t seen you work and I miss my beautiful wife, lemme stay here” She pleaded as to you who sighed contentedly and nodded yes.
She hasn’t seen you this serious and casual calls from Okoye asking when her Starbucks would be built and you repeating that you’ll see to it. Shuri watched you, heart filled with content and questions in her head how lucky she has to have you. And what would you look like with a baby strapped infront of you. In her daze, she spoke her mind “Do you want a baby?” As to you, you looked at her “Do you want to?” You asked her which she simply nodded “I know we have T’Challa, but we only got to babysit him and how our own? They get to run around this huge palace, laughter and joy would fill the walls, What do you say my love?” She asked you and you just nodded with tears in your eyes as you rushed to her side and kissed her passionately “Let’s have a baby” You told her.
Let’s say you were still puzzled why she thought of having a child, but that didn’t matter, you’ll work it out for the future of your child and that’s important.
Note: Originally I would write about Shuri watching you work and suddenly the idea of "What if they want a child?" And I know Shuri's very busy and T'challa is there but how about they want their own? So I ended up doing that ending.

𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. ʰᵉᵃᵈᶜᵃⁿᵒⁿˢ
Tumblr media
pairings : big sister!shuri x fem!reader x big brother!t'challa
warnings : ooc characters(?).
authors note : this is not a ship fanfic. everything is completely platonic, just pure sibling relationship<3.
Tumblr media
GROWING UP !
— you were only 2 years younger than shuri, so of course, it wasn't difficult for you two to get along.
— compared to your sister, you didn't have very strong ambitions. But even so, you were taught how to rule a nation by your mother when you were younger, and when you were prepared enough, she took you to train to be a Dora Milaje member.
— you were a fairly calm and obedient child back then, and even since you grew into a fine woman.
— you didn't have an interest in fighting whatsoever, but it did cross your mind that you'd end up needing the skills to fight. But you didn't complain and go against your mother.
— there weren't that much things that interested you as a kid. Your sister and brother often picked on you(playfully) for it.
— shuri even tried to get you to be interested in her ambitions, saying that it's 'fun' and 'an opportunity to learn something new'.
— you weren't adventurous, smart like shuri, nor would you be strong like t-challa. Sometimes, as you grew older, you think if you could've done something more than just train to be in an elite group. But despite those, something sparked inside you and motivated you to be the strongest amongst all the members of the Dora Milaje.
BONDING WITH SHURI !
some big brother t'challa scenes<3
— it's awfully loud when there's two of you in the same room. Like seriously, it's just filled with Shuri laughing at your jokes. Everyone sees you as 'the calmer one of the siblings' but boy.. when you're with those 'siblings' its like someone released a whole mammal out their cage.
— despite not understanding half she's saying, you still go visit shuri in her lab to keep her company. She's just yapping to you about what she's doing, while you just nodded, pretending like you understood what the hell she's saying.
•   "(name)? Are you listening or no?"
•   "I am. But I don't understand."
•   "It's fine, at least you're listening."
— whenever her brother is doing something, or is busy, you'd be the one training her some fighting abilities. You aren't as skilled like your brother, goodness no, he's the black panther for Pete's sake, but you are strong. Somewhat.
— shuri always supports and cheers for you whenever you're about to go to your training. Boy, the proudness she felt when she was told that you were slowly beginning to be more skilled the passing days. She's not lying, Okoye said it herself.
— tackles you in hugs almost everytime she's overly enthusiastic to see you.
•   "Stop that. You act like our rooms aren't next to eachother."
•   "I missed you!"
•   "we see eachother everyday!"
— okay but listen to this. The over protectiveness that randomly summoned inside her when she heard that you were getting marriage proposals.
"atrocious!" You and your mother deadpanned at her reaction, side eyeing eachother blankly. "(name), whatever you must do, do not even look at those proposals, okay?!"
— yeah it was a wild experience.
— besides that, shuri is a great sister. She loves you but literally acts like she's the youngest. Seriously, you mightve heard that she's older and you're younger, but when you see these two and know the personally, you'll end up doubting yourself.
— even your own brother said it himself.
•   "Shuri, stop clinging onto your sister like a wild monkey climbing up a tree."
•   "What?"
•   "brother said to stop climbing me like you're a monkey."
— ooh, have I mentioned that you're a great dancer? If not, you're a very great dancer! Dora Milaje members are probably all great dancers if you must say so yourself.
— growing up, shuri was probably your favorite person who ever walked the soil of earth. And then your brother follows right behind her, and then your parents, and then—
— when it's the three of you combined, it's like the whole definition of the word 'chaos'. In the end of the day, T'challa is tired as hell, Shuri went to drain more of her energy in her lab work, and you? Already fell asleep.
— despite being a whole menace the three of you were, mama Ramonda and papa T'chaka were proud of what you three have achieved.
Tumblr media
i am very tired<\3 still figuring out my layouts for headcanon posts, so this one is kind of messy rnn. this is also my first time writing about sibling relationships, especially in readers pov so I'm sorry if it's cringey oml😭

Okay, let’s talk about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, shall we?
*spoilers*
Duh
The beginning: I saw a tweet today where the author said they hated that the movie killed T'Challa with an illness and I have to say I disagree. Not only because logistically there was no way for Chadwick Boseman to act in the movie for a death scene, but because (for me personally) I don't think I would have liked it any other way. I like that T'Challa died of an illness for one simple reason: The whole movie sort of felt like a catharsis for the cast and crew. No one knew Boseman had cancer except his immediate circle. I still remember opening twitter and literally not believing what I was seeing. The way they chose to go about it, and then all the time the devoted to grief and loss felt like a release for everyone involved. And if this was the way they thought would best help them work through their grief in their art, I don't think it's right to say you wished it happened a different way.
Okay, time for something fun after all that heavy: Queen Ramonda's speech in the beginning was amazing.
The scene of the Dora Milaje in the Wakandan outpost coming out of the hall was amazing.
I loved that the people of Talocan had siren powers
Riri Williams. I have a problem with making a significant part of a plot revolve around a person who needs to be kept alive, especially if that person isn't the main character. I find that it leaves me feeling like there was no point to the character. In the case of Riri, I can't decide how I feel. I like her character and I was happy to see her introduced. I think a Black Panther movie was the perfect place to introduce her one, because she's Black and was clearly written to have a deep love, respect, and admiration for Wakanda, and two because she's a technological genius like Shuri. But something about her story feels... well, it just doesn't feel right. Like a puzzle piece that *seems* to fit in a space, but also doesn't. I think if she might have had more agency. Or maybe if they'd let her feel bad that her design put Talocan in danger. She didn't make that machine to help the CIA or anyone, she built it to spite one of her college professors. They don't explain it in the movie how the machine got into the hands of the government, but they do make it a point to say that she built it for an assignment. This leads me to believe that it was either stolen or given to the CIA without Riri's permission. If she'd been allowed to explain that (or if Shuri had just mentioned it) I'm not sure it would have changed anything, but it might have made Riri's story feel more full.
Namor did nothing wrong. He was completely justified in everything that he did. lmao okay, no, he killed the queen of Wakanda, but listen here: He had his reasons. Namor, at heart, is a good man, and I truly believe that. He want's what's best for his people. T'Challa wanted the same, and for him, the right thing to do was to open Wakanda to the world. He couldn't have known he was putting Talocan in danger, too. I think Wakanda is gentler on the world than Talocan, and that's were the biggest issue comes from Wakanda was never colonized. Their land, their histories, their people, their resources were never stolen from them. They watched all that happen to other people. But watching bad things happen to other people is different than having those things happen to you. By contrast, Talocan was borne from a colonized civilization. The flower that gave them their powers and abilities was used as a treatment for smallpox. Their legends even say that their god gave them the flower to build a new home, the implication being that they needed a new home because their old one was stolen from them. Because of their vastly different histories, their reactions to the possibility of outsiders trying to steal from them is vastly different. Namor has the right of it and by the end of the movie, he still does. The surface world will come for the Wakandans and the people of Talocan will be ready. His methods may not have been sound, but his rationale was.
Battle orcas. No, I will not be adding context.
Everett Ross was married to Madam Hydra and I just can't get over that.
Talocan seemed like a more accurate underwater city than any I've seen, and I love that.
I wish Shuri hadn't made a new heart-shaped herb and had become the Black Panther because of her technological skills. A Black Panther Iron Man suit, if you will. I didn't feel like there was enough justification for her to make the herb and then take it herself. After she wakes up from the ancestral realm, she said that she drank the herb to see her family, but none of them came. It's a heartbreaking scene, but it also doesn't make sense when you remember that Shuri doesn't believe in any of that. Even Killmonger said in her vision that she didn't believe in the ancestral plane. I think Shuri's time would have been better spent making a Black Panther suit that gave her almost all of the abilities of the traditional Black Panther. I think what they were going for was a full circle catharsis moment where Shuri couldn't make the herb in the beginning of the movie but then she did near the end. And that would make sense, except she didn't make the herb to heal anyone. She made it so she could get revenge on Namor. And I don't think that's a good way to tie the herb to the theme. Edit: I’m seeing your replies to this point. My opinion still stands as of now, but I do appreciate the other perspectives and it’s giving me something to think about whenever I watch the movie next.
I like the Shuri didn't become queen of Wakanda at the end. I don't think being queen would have suited her at all.
The end credit scene really punched me in the heart.
I forgot to mention M’baku’s “Bald headed demon” line. And apparently it was improvised which makes it so much funnier.
All in all, I loved this movie. I've seen it twice now and I can't wait to see it again.

Imagine Okoye protecting you from your ex-boyfriend
Tumblr media
After T'Challa's death Shuri had all of the scientists workind double time in the lab coming up with solutions for existing, and non-existing problems. She wanted to be prepared for anything in the future. You were one of the few scientists that had the same passion for your work as her. That can with problems your boyfriend was a solider who's job was to watch over the villages. He was use to you returning home once nightfall would hit, and while sometimes you ran a little late. No matter what when morning came he woke up to you in his arms with your head rested on his chest, fast asleep. So when it was tough on your relationship when you started spending all your time in the lab, working closely with the Princess to identify issues that could arise in the future.
Sometimes days would go by before you would return home, and each time there would be an argument. He wanted you to cut back on your workload insisting that Shuri wasn't forcing you to stay at the lab all night. You argued the importance of your work and expressed your worry about the mysterious illness that took killed the king. His death really opened everyone’s eyes that no one was truly invincible. A illness that was able to slowly breakdown the effects of the heart shaped herb, and kill the Black Panther.
You believed you were closer to an cure, or at least medicine that could combat the virus. If it ever effected anyone here, but you needed to run a few more tests. Your boyfriend acted as if he actually understood, and y'all made up that night. Two days later you actually accepted the lunch break when Shuri offered it to you. Because you wanted to go into the city and surprise him since he was stationed there today. Ten minutes later you returned the lab wiping tears from your eyes, with your boyfriend trailing behind. He reached out a hand to take grasp of yours. But you moved to the side dodging his attempt, and when he yelled for you to stop.
Shuri's head snapped in your direction her eyes flickering back and forth between the two of you. When he moved in front of you to block your path, and you shoved him away. That was all she needed to signal to the Dora Milaje standing guard over the lab to remove him. Two of them came to stand on either side of you simply giving him a look with an arched eyebrow. He opened his mouth to say something, but you just walked away. Knowing he surely couldn't follow now.
It'd been two weeks since that day and he was still a recurring problem in your life. You spent more time at the lab than your own home considering. He was still responsible in guarding the village, while Shuri offered to have him positioned elsewhere. You insisted it was okay and the two you could handle the breakup like adults. What you really meant was that even though you were hurt. That didn't take away the fact that you had a big heart, and you knew having him moved would've been a big adjustment. So you just tried to take the high road, but he was relentless.
Tonight was one of those nights where you was so buried into your work. You didn't realize how late it was until you looked up to find everyone else gone. The lab was completely empty not even the few guards were present. They left with Shuri who was probably forced to retire to bed by her mother after days of no sleep. It was so quiet in there you were pretty sure a teardrop hitting the floor could be heard. So when the familiar sound of the elevator whisking open reached your ears. You perked up a bit to see who was coming back to join you instead your blood ran cold. When the person stepped out where you could them through the clear screen. It was your ex-boyfriend and he didn't look happy.
"Hey y/n" He greeted you with a sneer.
"Kaji what are you doing here? You asked nervously dropping the tablet in your hand.
Kaji started making his way over to your station. "Well I have a few buddies here in the palace. They notified me you were finally alone in here after weeks of me trying to find. The perfect opportunity to approach you without the Princess or her guards around to stop us from talking."
"There's nothing for us to talk about. You decided to entertain other women in the village, while I was here working, and so I gave you the freedom you were so desperately craving for." You said taking a few steps in the opposite direction he was moving in. Kaji was never abusive in your relationship, but then again you never broke things off with him before. Not to mention he could have a really bad attitude sometimes. The way he was looking at you right now made you want to put as much distance between the two of you as possible.
"Stop trying to run from me I just to talk" He snapped picking up the pace. He covered the distance with one long stride and grabbed you by the shoulders in tight grip.
"Let me go" You protested trying to break free of his hold. Your voice was calm but your heart was beating so fast. It was a wonder it didn't pound itself right out of your chest.
"Just shut up for five seconds and hear me out" Kaji said pushing you back into the table. "Y/N stop fighting me." Both of you were so caught up in the fight neither of you were aware of. Another person entering the lab and descending the stairs at the sound of the commotion.
Not until Kaji was yanked away from you, and tossed to the cold floor of the lab. In one swift move although he was back onto his feet within a second. His body went rigid at the sight of Okoye standing in front of you with her arms crossed over her chest. Even though the General wasn't in her uniform and was without her spear. That didn't her any less menacing and Kaji let out a nervous chuckle knowing he was in deep trouble. "Um General I was just-
"Trespassing into the palace to pay y/n an unauthorized visit after you've been told to leave her alone multiple times." She said letting her arms drop to her side.
"No that's not it I was just-" He paused knowing he had to choose his words carefully. "We were just talking" He finished a moment later with a tiny nod.
"It didn't seem like she wanted to talk to you" Okoye pointed put.
Kaji let out a breath moving his head to get a glance at you over her shoulder. Okoye wasn't having it adjusting her body to block the trail of his eyesight. The second he started to let his face twist into a sneer her fist slammed into his nose. It happened so fast neither one of you saw her move only him stumble back into some lab equipment.
"You would be wise to leave now while you still can without being put in chains." Okoye warned him still positioned in front of you.
His nose was bloody and broken along with his pride. Kaji wasn't stupid he knew she was holding back, and that punch had been a warning shot. There was no way he was going to be able to get to you with her in his path. Not to mention with the power her position gave her she could easily ruin his career. He walked up the stairs leading to the double doors to leave, but was met with the sight of two Doras.
"Take him to a cell for the night The Queen will deal with him come tomorrow" Okoye ordered.
They nodded for Kaji to follow them when he tried to resist the point of one of their spears pressed to his throat. A jolt of electricity was sent through his body causing him to drop. The Doras moved in catching him by his forearms to drag him away.
Once they were out of sight Okoye finally turned around to check on you. Her eyes softened at the sight you gripping the table behind in an effort to try and stop your body from trembling. You caught her eyes for a second looking away just as fast. "Y/N its okay he's gone now and won't ever get anywhere near you again."
"Thank you Okoye for showing up, but I don't think you can guarantee that." You whispered wrapping your arms around yourself. Even though her presence brought some comfort, the safety that the lab brought to you had been violated. You had always believed this was the one place he truly couldn't get to you.
"Oh y/n" she whispered in a gentle tone holding her arms out for you. She knew it was important for you in that moment to decide rather or not you wanted to be touch.
While the thought of physical contact or being caged into someone else's arms did make you a bit uncomfortable. You trusted the General after all she did save you from him, so there was no hesitation on your part in walking into her arms. Letting out a sigh of relief when she closed them around your body. "Hey calm down alright you're safe rather the Queen decides to lock him up or not. I promise he will have to get through me to get to you."
"Okoye I appreciate that but you have more important things to do besides play bodyguard for me" You said.
"Standing between you and anyone who wants to hurt you is exactly what I want to do." Okoye said without hesitation there was some emotion in her voice. That you couldn't exactly pick up on, but the message was loud and clear.
As long as Okoye was around your ex-boyfriend wouldn't ever touch you again.

Take to the Sky
Namor x Udaku! Reader
Author's Note: Hey Guys!!! This is finna be my first foray into the Black Panther Universe. I saw Wakanda Forever last Thursday and it was a THRILL RIDE. As with most writers, I got inspired to write my first one-shot based on the movie with Reader chan and everyone's fave agua DADDY NAMOR so let's see how your story unfolds.
Also, I used a translator for the Yucatec Mayan so if it's off. Tell me in the comments
As I offered you to BAST when you were just a little babe, the winds around us blew wildly. Suddenly you were lifted from my arms. The elders were in surprise but the shaman was not surprised for he saw in you a greater purpose as well as a great danger which you are the key to stopping...............
That was your favourite story growing up, the one of your birth. The Ukadu's are Wakanda's Royal family and the guardians of the Black Panther mantle for generations but with you it was special. Your birth was of significance since it was not Bast who visited but the wind goddess who blessed you with bird wings to soar above the clouds. Yet with this power came a great danger which was unknown. Ever since then, you were hidden. Coming out when deemed necessary as well as acquiring the best training necessary from Okoye and the rest of the Dora.
Life for the most part was peaceful, loving and full of happiness for your family and people but it was not meant to last. The last six years being the most painful for your loved ones. Losing your father along with your siblings forced you to conform to the duties of becoming a future leader rapidly. Though you didn't need to inherit the throne for a good while, Queen Ramonda needed the assistance to best lead Wakanda during its turbulence as well as lifting some of the burdens from her shoulders. Not long after the blip's reversal, T'Challa's health deteriorated and eventually, he succumbed and joined the ancestors. Holding your mother's hand with eyes bloodshot red staring off into space, it felt as if your body went numb. The emotions depart with your brother until a hollow husk was left. It was always the 3 musketeers but now it's down to two. You knew it was never truly the end only its beginning.
ONE YEAR LATER............................................................
Tumblr media
The sky was a place where you found solace. The impossible fades away and the unknown reigns supreme. Today is the One year anniversary of T'Challa's passing and mother wanted us to take a day to pay homage to his spirit as well as finally put our grief behind us but you couldn't shake the feeling in your bones that something is to occur today and you prayed to Bast that it's not serious.
Mini time skip
You all were sitting by the river's edge, a fire roaring to keep warm as well as a family of elephants to keep companionship with.
"Come girls, we are going to enact the final piece of the grieving ritual", Queen mother states as she surrenders her white garb to the fire, its heat and flames consuming it.
"Buring of the garbs marks the end of the grieving process and how we fully connect with those who have passed on to the spiritual plane.", she says solemnly.
"I can't do that. If I think of my brother too long it's not those clothes I would burn, but the world.", Shuri responds. You can feel where she comes from with being gifted a brilliant mind but unable to save whom she loves most.
Suddenly the elephants sense a disturbance and the Queen Mother goes to investigate with a spear in tow along with your sister. You grab your sword ready to defend your family and that's when a human or what you can describe as human for this male has wings at his ankles that play off of the Greek Messenger God Hermes as well as adorned with many jewels and clothing which also gives off remnants of a lost period of history.
'Who are you!", Your mother interrogates the stranger.
"This place is amazing, the air is pristine. My mother told me stories of a place like this, with people who never had to leave or change who they were. What right did your son have to reveal yourselves to the rest of the world," He says almost deathly calm.
"I'm not a woman who likes repeating herself, WHO.ARE.YOU", your queen mother says with authority.
"I have many names. My people me K'Kul'kan, but my enemies call me NAMOR.'' he says finally revealing who he is.
After laying his case, or more on the lines of his demands for the American Scientist who engineered the Vibranium detector he proceeds to leave but not before he speaks once more,
"To'on yaan k suut kaxtik chan ch'íich' '' and with that, he dolphin dives into the water once more.
"Well that's an entrance,", you say but gasp in horror as your eyes gaze on the underwater machine beside the mini camp setup.
"The council must be alerted immediately", Ramonda says urgently
Meanwhile in Talokan..............................
Tumblr media
''Le chan ch'íich'o' ts'o'ok u revelado. Yuumtsilo'ob finalmente in u séen revelado ka sabrá u propósito yéetel le k'iin.'', Namor says while continuing his ancient painting.

.
Your promises to your mother about not going overboard with your delight on this field trip that your prestigious college had paid for went down the drain just like the contents your stomach expels into the club's pristine porcelain bathroom. This vacation was the ideal justification for the students to blow off steam and unwind after a semester of extended essays and unbearable exams. But, of course, they deserved this beautiful opportunity! But you didn't earn the embarrassment of vomiting in front of the toilet.
“Que pinche suerte tengo, at least these bathrooms are clean...”  The misty feeling of nausea still lingered in your mind, and you kept inhaling long breaths to appease your poor stomach. The rumble of cumbia and bachata mix tunes runs through your entire body, muffled by the bathroom walls.
After several minutes of listening to your body and being entirely sure that nothing else will come out of your throat, you left the cubicle with careful steps, the alcohol still circulating your blood. Your hands rested on the sink to support you and began to inspect your reflection in the illuminated mirror, making sure your beautiful hair looked decent. Still, a frown fell on your brows as you noticed you needed a retouch your makeup quickly.
There's no way in hell you'll let half of your classmates see you in this mess. What would Riri think? After all that time, they wasted watching tutorials on how to do your makeup instead of finishing the due essays. ( and by the way, you did finish that essay, you only need three red bulls.) You blinked owlishly as your drunk mind realized something; you forgot to notify your bestie! It must have slipped your mind while rushing to the bathroom. Then, quickly pulling out your smartphone from your purse, a surprised grimace pulls your red lips at the five lost calls and 12 messages.
You were already cursing in your native language while reading Riri's angry messages, and you knew the black girl would chew your ass out instantly for leaving her all alone. Well, technically, she's not all by herself; it was a miracle how Riri's plan was a success sneaking the princess into their flight directly a Mexico, Yucatan.
But you knew it was the worst idea your intelligent roommate agreed on, and you can't practically say no to Shuri.
And you dote on Shuri like she was your older sister who just wanted to have fun and create unforgettable memories with her loved ones, but the thought of Auntie Ramonda finding out about this tormented you sometimes. You only visit the Udaku residence occasionally because you are always busy studying. The other excuse was Ramonda's regal and elegant presence overwhelmed you; it was how she could look at you for the first time with those sharp eyes and discover your most embarrassing secrets. You jerked your head as the shiver ran down your shoulders; that's not going to happen! You'd faith in the plan, but only because they got some assistance from Shuri's older brother.
"T'challa eres un angel caido! Thank you so much for this!" Your hands made a prayerful gesture, showing how grateful you were for this great opportunity; then, you huffed sharply. Now it's time to continue putting on your makeup war because you know damn well there will be attractive and captivating individuals, and perhaps you might steal someone for yourself tonight. Who knows what could happen, and you're excited to find out.  While you were fixing your makeup, you looked sideways at your smartphone and then paused at the last message you received from Riri, your eyes narrowed at the change of image on your screen. Riri was calling you, and you answered right away.
"Oye, ¿que paso?"
The shout of your name made you wince, but you kept the phone close to your ear. "CONCHA! Where the fuck are you!?"
"Wh-what do you mean where I'm? In the bathroom bitch, didn't I send you a text!?"
"Bruh! I thought you meant in the hotel's room bathroom!"
You rolled your eyes while snorting. Riri was a bit under the influence of so many Mezcal shots. "Pendeja, as if I'm going to walk like twenty blocks to go over there!"
"Fuck, okay, okay, don't worry! Let me get my key card, and I'm going to get -- wait, Shuri, stop!"
You waited for Riri to finish talking to her girlfriend. Then, finally finishing your makeup, you started packing your belongings into your purse.
“Conchita, you still there?”
“Si mensa, it’s Shuri fine thought? I can hear her laughing and shrieking.” You mused, chuckling t the frustrated groan from Riri. “Is that the reason you left me, Riri? Wanted to spend some sweet time with your princess?”
“Shut up you! Nothing like that! I had to bring her back cuz she wanted to beat someone!”
“Why?”
“These two Dwayne Johnson-looking ass bumped into me, spilling my amazing drink. They didn’t wanna apologize, so Shuri was about to throw hands with them.”
A thunderous laugh burst from your mouth, your melodious laughter filling the bathroom. You already imagined Riri's annoyed face as you cackled like a crazy bird. You place a hand on your stomach, and tiny tears prickle the corner of your eyes for laughing too much. You panted and coughed a little in an attempt to catch your breath.
“Oh my god, that’s so her, I would’ve paid to see that,”
Riri sucked her teeth but you knew there was an amusing hint behind her tone. “But Conchita, girl, I can’t leave you all by yourself! It’s dangerous, man, what if you get lost?”
“Ay, don’t worry about me, chula! Some other students are here, asi que me voy colar con ellos.” You snicker to yourself; the tequila is getting to your brain currently. “Besides, you will have the suite all to yourself,”
BEEP!
Pulling the phone away from your ear to see that Riri hung up on you.
"Que mamona, ni siquiera me dijo adios."
A creak from the door distracted you from your angry text, and a group of girls with drinks in their manicured hands entered. The second their eyes fell on you, their drunken mouths began to shower you with compliments on your hair and dress and how they loved how your heels accentuated your ass. The comments made butterflies flutter inside your stomach, and a hot wave crept on your face. You weren't used to people throwing compliments at you. A year ago, you would've shied away and possibly left the restroom with a hot shame face, but thanks to Riri's incredible support and friendship. You began to lose yourself.
Life's too short to be quiet.
With a flamboyant twirl of your body, the girls squealed happily and quickly swarmed you with questions about drinking more mezcal shots with them and exchanging phone numbers and socials. Oh yeah, this was going to be a special night.
FOUR HOURS LATER
Your heart began to fall in love with this magical city, Cancun. Its streets are still busy with locals visiting the stalls and tourists who come from all over the world to taste the exquisite meals, learn about the Yucatecan culture and enjoy the heat that touches your skin. Shot after shot and dancing uncontrollably to the music, you, unfortunately, had to separate from the new friends you made, promising to call them and make sure you'll get safely to your hotel.  You took another bite of your vegetable on a stick, wiping the cream off with your tongue because you forgot to ask for a napkin. The warm air from the night brushed your shoulders and naked legs, and the waves crashing over and over against the sand sounded so captivating to you that the idea of sitting in front of the ocean to contemplate your life was so tempting.
“Hey!”
A loud shout made you stumble mid-step but quickly recovered, whipping your head behind you to see what it was and a cold sensation — dread — washed over you. Your stomach dropped right at your feet at the sight of three grown men approaching you, it seemed like there was a ten-meter stretch between you and them, but that didn't alleviate the fact that you were alone in a not-so-traveled area, and you just noticed that. Mierda, mierda, mierda! You conjure up a tight smile, your chest tightens when you breathe slightly, and a knot forms in the back of your throat. This is not happening now, not tonight please, but what you expected from reality?
“Hey, mami, where are you going?”
An eyebrow twitch while holding a frown, of course they are from the states,
“I’m ‒ I’m just taking a stroll …”
“A stroll, huh?  All by yourself?”  One of them questioned, no good intentions behind that smirk. Before you could open your mouth, your mothers’ words flashed through your mind. Never tell a stranger that you are alone, make them think that someone is waiting for you.
“No, no at all!” ah shit that was too fast.  “I’m just going to back to someone,”
“Oh, you have friends? Maybe we can some fun together.”
“Sounds good to me, the more the merrier.”
Their cruel cackles disgusted your stomach but kept the tight smile on. Your conscious was yelling to run, to run far away and quick, but you knew you could be outrun easily.
" I'm s-sorry but my family is waiting for me.  I - I have to go..."
They began to approach you with steady steps.
"Aw come on, sweetheart, have a little fun with us,"
“Yeah, loose a little with us, we can show you a good time.”
Oh, you can't do this, you were trembling with uneasiness, and your eyes burned with the urge to cry. You once again shook your head, refusing their unwanted invitation, and spun around, walking away from the trio.  But your polite nature didn't stop them and they chose to follow you, taunting you and catcalling. You completely forgot the corn in a stick, and you increased the pace of your step, your heart ached from thumping so much that you believed you were going to have a panic episode.
Please, I want to wake up from this nightmare, por favor mama, ayudanme por favor.
Your bare feet led you to where it was busy, where you might have a chance to hide and be secure. Of course, you didn't know the streets and didn't have the remotest idea of where you were going, but your feet kept moving; instinct pushed the idea to run until you were secure. You didn't dare to look over your shoulder to check if they followed you; you weren't sure. So, you turned left, entering the streets of Cancun where the neighborhood was, you slipped through the streets, getting lost in the crowd, you stumbled a few times because of the poorly made road, with its potholes and high steps, but your bare feet roared in discomfort from walking on the asphalt, you need to take a breather because you were about to throw up your lungs.
You ended up in an alley between a cheap motel and an old bar, leaning against the painted wall of the motel. Inhaling deeply through your nose to catch your breath and maybe find out where the hell you were. You pulled your smartphone out of your purse and whined in frustration, a small red bar to the left glowing annoyingly. Remind you only have a little time. You had to call an Uber and take you back to Riri and Shuri; you had enough scares in your life.
“Hi, mamacita!”
A shriek escaped you, but the rest was cut off by a hand that covered your mouth, an arm crossed over your shoulders, catching you in an iron grip. Fear strikes your stomach, accelerating your heart. You thought your eardrums were going to burst!
“What? You thought you could run away, Chiquita?”
“We’re gonna have some fun, right sweetheart?”
Your cell phone slapped from your grasp, and your right arm was crossed behind your back, wincing at the pain blooming on your right shoulder. But your muffled whining wasn't going to get listened to as you thrashed around as soon a pair of hands pulled the hem of your dress and, little by little, got dangerously close to your crotch.
No matter the shameful and desperate tears streaming down your cheeks, it didn't convince the assailants cackling, mocking you. Whispering disgusting things about what they are going to do with you. You still thrashed and pulled away from their degenerate touches.
If no one will rescue you, that doesn't mean you're going to give in, and you are not giving up without a fight.
BAM!
All attention was drawn to the emergency exit door opening fully, letting out an individual. Confusion invaded you, dumbfounded by the person's attention deficiency, focused on his pack of cigarettes. With an enraged thrash and whining loud enough to get the awareness of the man in front of you, and you could almost laugh right there, it did get his attention.
“Oh, good evening.” So casually, he spoke, making you scowl, stunned. He must joking este cabron! Is he for real!?
The leader of three-step forward trying to be intimidating, but you knew something was off about this guy.
"You got a staring problem, amigo? Just walk away, bud'"
He has yet to move from his position, not even to face them and you, fiddling with his box of cigarettes. An amused smirk pulled his lips, showing a white smile, and he began to saunter towards the leader.
“I could do that, but I’ve seen each one of your faces.” He spoke, enfacing his word as he pointed at your three assailants and returned his attention to the leader. “I could walk away and easily go to the authorities and deport you out of my country….”
The way the strange man threatened them with such confidence and casualness seemed to affect them. The guy who had your dress released it, taking a step back from you, and the other one holding you from the shoulders loosened his grasp. It looked like they were going to either run or prepare to fight. You had no idea!
"Or I can fuck up each and one of you,” The smirk fell to an intense smoldering. “Teach you a lesson for being a scum. How about that option for you, gringo de mierda?”
“Listen here, you fucking wetback loser—!”
You blinked, and the stranger swung a punch at the aggressor. The other two let you go to back up his buddy, the one holding you shoved you against the floor, harming your wrists for cushioning your fall. The quarrel started, but you were focused on putting yourself together while they were beating each other asses. Stumbling and fumbling, you got up your feet, scrambling away from them and hiding quickly behind a full dumpster, observing the fight from afar and letting out a shaky exhale, thankful that your savior appeared on time, but you were now you not sure if he was a ' good ' savior.
His punches were brutal, wasting no second to unleash another strike on your assailant’s face. His powerful kicks looked like they were going to leave a mark of his shoe on their bodies, and despite his complex, he was swift. Effortlessly dodging the pathetic attempts of the others, even though there were three of them, it seemed like your savior surpassed them in all dynamics.
“U sojol, ma' le wíiniko'ob jaaj…” He spits on them with a sneer as he walks away from the fainted men, making sure he steps on each body and wander towards you.  Now you could appreciate it in more detail when he approached you as you stepped away from the dumpster, shortening the space between you and him. His skin color was so beautiful that you'd bet if the rays of sunset illuminated him, he would look so handsome that it'll make you faint.
Short and unraveling raven hair due to the altercation, but what captivated you was his steely gaze that seemed to inspect every detail of your features. His facial hair covered his sharp chin, accompanied by a mustache above his lip. Then your eyes drop and widen, at what point did his shirt come open? Leaving his torso exposed, and even though his body didn't look like an Adonis, you bet if you caressed his chest, it would be solid rock.
“Do you have a lighter?”
His question shook from your gawking, “¿Que?”
Your intelligent answer seemed to irritate your savior, raising an eyebrow he questions again. “Do you have a lighter?”
“I – I do, but I think it’s my …”  you didn’t smoke, but it was for Riri. “In m - my purse.”
Your savior deadpanned at you, and an uncomfortable silence fell between you, giving you an unsettling feeling until he nodded behind him. As if he was saying, " then go get it, girl"
You caught the small order and headed towards your forgotten purse, a little close to the fallen bodies, you glimpsed at them asking yourself if they were alive, but you scowl, they deserved it and snatched your purse. Returning to your savior with a lighter in your open palm.
"Here you go,"
" Can you light it up? My hands are shaking a bit bruised,"
You gulp, and you weren't even subtle about it. His accent was heavy and extremely hot.  Get it together girl, he just saved you but damn stranger danger! A cigarette was already on his lips, ready to consume, and you slightly nodded. Great, this is just fantastic. You accommodated the lighter in your hand and got closer to him since you realized he was a little taller than you. Only a few inches, but you bet you could get there in your heels.
Your hands are trembling, and the igniter doesn't seem to work when you try to start it the third time.
“Wait, stay still, you are shaking too much,”
Your cheeks burned up, and every hair on your arms stood up when a shiver went through you, but there wasn't a cold draft, not with this hot weather as his rough hands engulfed yours, steading your right hand as you once again ignited the lighter and voilà, a small flame appear. The tip of the nicotine stick ignited with just a few puffs of his mouth. He exhaled a gust of smoke, invading your space as it floated away. You maintained the man's gaze for a few beats but then blushed awkwardly, you snatched your hand out of his grasp. You didn't know what you would do if he kept looking that way. His hooded gaze was causing your lower belly to get warmer, as well as something else.
He straightened up, removing the stick from his lips.  " So, what did you do to piss them off?"
"I didn't do anything." A slight frown pulls your brows.
“Okay,” Your savior looked at you up and down, your scowl frowning even more.
“You don’t believe me?”
“I didn’t say anything, where’s your hotel?”
“What?”
He raises his eyebrow and smirk amused. ´” What is not an answer, where’s your hotel?  I’m going to walk you there.”
As if you’re going to reveal your temporary location - “It’s the Hyatt Zilara Cancun, that’s my hotel.” Ah shit.
Your savior remains silent for a few seconds as if he was remembering something, and then he nodded.  He started strolling to the opposite street of the alley. “Okay, vamonos, your hotel is a bit far, but we will make it in twenty minutes.”
“Wha-? Wait, wait so you’re just going to take me there, just like that?”  He glanced over his shoulder and nodded, looking at you as if wasn’t that obvious.  He wasn’t giving explanations as to why he was helping you. Something fishy is up.  “But – but I don’t even know your name!”
He pauses and turns towards you, the wheels in his mind were grinding on how to answer your answer, and he gave a confident smile. “My family calls me K’uk’ulkan, but a different kind of people call me Namor.”
You hid the fact that you could finally give your handsome, shady savior a name, but you still continue with your interrogation. “And what can kind of people are those?”
“My enemies.”
“Oh,”
Namor chuckled at the pale shade on your face, “I understand you are suspicious towards me, but if I wanted you to get hurt, I would’ve turned away.” Your jaw clenches at Namor's words, a heavy insecurity you sense in your throat, and then fades away at his changed response with a mischievous smirk on his attractive face. “But that would never happen since I'm not a man like them.”
“Que chistosito cabron…”  You muttered under your breath as you went to collect your heels and return to him. Waiting for him to start leading, but he seemed too busy watching your gestures. “What? Is there cream on my face??”
Namor tilted his head at you. "What's your name?"
You chewed your tongue before you blurt out your real name, savior or not. You still couldn't trust him 101%. Not until you were sure he wasn't a serial killer or worst.
“Conchita.”
Namor repeated the name, unsure if he was listening correctly.
“Sipi, Conchita, that’s my name. Don’t pronounce too much it loses its charm.”
The smile that revealed his white teeth turned your stomach into butterflies, chuckling slightly at your humor.  Namor steps to your side and puts out his arm for you to grab. " After you, my lady."
“You’re the one who’s showing me, Menso.” You snorted but linked your arms anyway.
Namor chuckled and shook his head, “U ch'úupalo' ya'abtal jela'an.”
And he started to move, letting him take you through the streets of Cancun. But remember, you are only using Namor’s knowledge to bring you safely to your hotel, nothing more and nothing less.
 ↼ TEN MINUTES LATER ⇁
All your questions were ignored or answered with another question. When you began to have confidence in asking personal stuff, Namor would avoid it, always turning everything about you. You even thought that he was getting bored with all your personal life that you were oversharing.
But nothing like that; Namor would interrupt you for a second, only to cross a busy street, then he would ask you to continue with your childhood memories from Mexico when you visited with your mother. But you wanted so badly to know about Namor. Where did he work at? What was his favorite scent? Did he have a wife/girlfriend? Did he live alone? So many questions! He lived with two close cousins and was born and raised in Yucatan. At least, that is not bad to know about him.
You let out a loud yawn while Namor was telling a story about how he and his cousins were diving in cenotes, you didn't mean to be rude, but your exhausted body was at its limits. With sore feet and a wholly drained mind, it sounded tempting to fall asleep on the sand.
“Is my story that boring, In ch'ujuk lool? “
You offered him a giggly smile, but you were slowing down, your brain demanding rest, but you kept ambling while resting your head on Namor's shoulder. " No, nothing like that. I'm just exhausted."
" Ah, in that case, you no longer have to worry, see that? "
Your eyes went up and then watered a little. The sight of your hotel illuminated in all its glory seemed like a miracle straight from heaven. You ignored the pleas of your feet. You pushed a bit more until you finally faced the stairs leading to the hotel's lobby. Desolate was the hotel from the outside, but you knew there were still staff members inside. Namor's warmth was lulling you away while you were holding onto his big bicep as if they were a pillow.
Namor untangled his arm from yours and then took your hand in his grasp, “Well, here ends our little adventure.”
“What?”
“We finally made it.”
“Oh, yeah right.” Ay no, you didn’t want this to end, it’s too soon to say goodbye! “So, this is goodbye.”
“Indeed, it is, In lool.” Namor brough your hand to his mouth, brushing his lips to your knuckle and you were about melt right there if it wasn’t for his deep rich voice. “It was nice meeting you, despite the events of tonight.”
“It was nice meeting you too, Namor, and I know you already hate hearing me say but thank you so much for saving me. I mean, you didn’t have to do that….” Your voice cracks a bit. Oh boy, you really need to rest and be in the arm of your dearest girlfriends. You feel you were about a break in front of Namor.
Namor goes for your other hand and holds them to his chest, pulling you towards him as he stares you down with deep brown eyes. “No, no, I had to in ki'ichpam nikte'.  No one deserves that type of violation on their person and less someone like you.”
The caress with his knuckles on your cheek was your breaking point. Leaning just a bit closer to his space, your nostrils were filled with Namor's cologne, salt sea water, and nicotine. And Namor was drinking every detail of your features, every mole, and the tiny scar he could find on your plump cheeks that he could kiss, observing how your stunning ( c / e ) eyes shone with the light of the tall lamp posts. They were practically glowing for him.
His nose was grazing yours closely, hot breaths mixing, and Namor could end this intense hunger to kiss you until he stole your breath, but he noticed how you shivered and that glazed look in your eyes. You're still shaken from the event in the alley.
And when you were about to cut the space between your lips and his, but logic slapped you to come to your senses, and backed away.
“Namor, can I borrow your phone?”
He blinked confused for a second but responded. “What for?”
“Well, before you came one of the guys slapped my phone away. Oh, I didn’t event grabbed it." You winced at your forgetfulness and shrugged anyway. “Meh, I’m due to upgrade and all my photos are in the cloud.”  That didn’t answer Namor’s question. “I mean, I need to text my friend so she can come out…”
Namor blinked twice and huffed amusedly, he nodded and fish out his smartphone from his pocket. “Here you go.”
“Thank you,”
Reluctantly you released his hands to punch Riri's number on the phone. No calls. You didn't have the energy to speak everything through the device, so you sent two messages straight to the point. Hoping Riri wouldn't call this phone, you turned towards Namor, offering his phone back with a quiet thank you. Namor reached for his phone, but he didn't miss the opportunity for his fingers to caress yours as he grabbed the device.
You sent him a look when he put his phone away. You were not mad at Namor but at how the fuck this man affected you emotionally and physically.
“So, do you wish to go inside the lobby, and we can wait for your friend?”
You glared at Namor for a second then you glanced at the ten long stairs leading to the hotel lobby, and then back to the handsome shady savior. It’s not worth it, it ain’t worth moving your sore feet from your spot.
“I mean, we could stay outside here. I don’t mind sitting on the hard stairs while waiting in the suffocating heat for my friend….” Oh god, it was the warm weather, too warm for your tastes, you felt the sweat growing in the back of your dress. Namor licked his lips as he smiled at you, shaking his head amusedly by your rant, but he had an easy plan to fix that.
“Hey, yan my ch'ujuk concha, I think there’s a peacock behind you,” A malice glint flashed through his brown eyes.
Your mistake was twisting your neck, you pouted at the lack of the pretty feather birds, and before you could confront Namor, a squeal left your mouth as a pair of solid arms sneaked under your knees and waist. Your arms encircled Namor's broad shoulders to support, and shame began to heat your head. He didn't seem to shake as he went up the stairs with you in his arms, and being this close to his personal space was a bonus point, but you weren't going to let him know that.
“Eres un pinche cabron, pero si no fueras tan chulo te hubiera pegado…” You mumble under your breath, not making eye contact with him as he tries to search for you with a smug smirk.
“If you don’t tell me what that means, I will drop you.”
“It’s nothing, nada!”  You replied quickly, earning a loud chuckled as you tighten your grip around his shoulders. You cling to him like a cat not wanting to get in the water tub.
“You should’ve told me your feet were hurting, In chan lool .” Namor chided near your ear. “And I told you so for not wearing your high heels.”
“So, my blisters can have blisters? HA! No thank you sir.”
The hotel doors were opened with the help of one of the workers when they glimpsed you from the counter. Namor nodded gratefully for the aid and went to the waiting area. He gently dropped you onto the expensive sofa and sat beside you. A heavy yawn broke out from you, covering your mouth with the palm of your hand. Then you glance at Namor with a hooded gaze, not hiding the fact you are about to fall asleep on this expensive couch with him, and beam tiredly at him, who was observing you with endearment or boredom. You couldn't tell.
“Are you tired, Ba'ax táan a cansada, in jela'an lool?”
“You know it’s not veery nice of you to say those things in your awesome language with your hot accent and voice…” You leaned into him; his arm dropped on your shoulders.  Namor was smiling at your slurred words and your accent slipping sometimes.
“And why it’s not nice?”
“Because! I can’t understand shit and it juuust driving crazy what are you saying.”
“I’ll tell you what those words meant if you give me your real name….” Namor leaned down, brushing the bridge of your nose with his, making you aware of the position. That hot sensation returned with more fervor in your stomach and your intimate parts. Your hand ended up in Namor's abdomen, feeling his warmth and his muscles flex a little. You could finish all this. You can satisfy your hunger and end your desire with just one kiss.
“My real name…?”
“Yes, In yakunaj, only your name.”
You frowned annoyed again by the words, no ideas whatsoever. You brush the tip of your nose against his, almost like an eskimo kiss. Your heart was pumping blood through your eardrums, your body buzzing with heat as you nestled against his. You bet he could hear your poor heart hammering loudly.
“I don’t understand any of that, how do you even pronounce it,”
Namor smirked, eyes focused on your half-open lips. “Do you want me to show you?”
YES, PLEASE, DO IT!
Your mind screamed, but you nodded weakly. You desired those lips to burn and mark you, and you wanted them on top of you in any way possible.
Namor smiled smugly, showing few of his teeth while connecting his forehead with yours. “I need you to hear your words in jela'an floor.”
“CONCHA, WHERE ARE YOU MY GIRL?”
Shuri's thunderous shout echoed through the empty lobby, you and Namor wince, backing away from each other as your attention landed on Shuri stepping out of the elevator with stumbling steps. You stood up from your seat, ignoring the sharp pain in your feet, and headed to Shuri with open arms.
“Conchita, where’ve you been?” Shuri’s tone scolded. “Twenty-five calls, fifty text messages, and nothing! What happened to you?”
You didn't reply away, mind already clouding with exhaustion, relief surrounded you when Shuri engulfed you with her long arms.
“It’s – it’s a long story, Namor brought me here because I had no idea where I was-”
“Who?”
“The guy right behind me, isn’t he cute?”
Shuri glanced behind you then look you up and down, “ Conchita, what kind of ecstacy have you taken?”
“Uhm no?”
“Then what man are you talking about?”
You whipped your head behind you and indeed, the lobby was vacant. The couch where you left Namor was empty, and a wrenching feeling twisted your gust, disappointed in yourself for not going for the kiss.  And the urges of crying took you over.
“I – I didn’t even get to kiss him,.”
Shuri cooed as she hugged you when your shoulders were shaking. “oh sisi wam omncinci othandekayo,, come on, let us go back to Riri and you can explain us...”
You let out a frail yeah while Shuri led you to the elevator and ignored the staff member approaching you with your heels and purse. So yeah, although the nightmare was over, your precious dream ended terribly. But who knows? You might see him again; you wonder to yourself. Just a little feeling that you would see Namor again, and this time, your tired mind promised to steal a kiss from him.

"You look so much better without it"
Tumblr media
Shuri X reader
Summary: You become overcome with vengeance after Shuri makes an alliance with Namor
"Shuri seriously? An alliance? Really?" You and Shuri were currently having the worse disagreement ever. You rarely disagreed but when you did it always had a huge impact on both your well being. Shuri sighs and winces "can we argue another time? I am soon to be queen and the protector of Wakanda I make those hard decisions...you know this."
Hard decisions she's always making some hard decision for once you'd love it if she for once was able to make a simple decision. "You made an alliance with the monster who killed your fucking mother!" Shuri looks you up and down before speaking you can see it in her face you've touched the dog's bone and she's ready to bite your hand. "Were you there? Because I saw my mother not wake up after being drowned I am doing what my mother would want she would not want vengeance don't tell me anything about my mother because she would be disappointed in you. My mother was a queen and the biggest requirement for being a queen is sticking by your lovers side when they make a hard decision." your firey attitude that had once fueled your words was now put out with the biggest bucket of water as you realize what you had said to your love as she pointed her finger at you jabbing you in the chest. "Princess I'm just angry I just don't understand how you could form an alli-" she nods "it was Shuri when you were upset now it's Princess? You must be feeling guilty" You take this as your moment to leave there was no use in apologizing now she wouldn't want to hear it right now. You struck a nerve you knew better but you plucked the red wire that made the bomb tick faster. "Do you want help to our bed you're in pretty rough sh-" "no I want you to leave me alone I don't want to speak to you right now" you nod slowly but just can't agree to leave her there you go disagreeing with her again but she's hurt and no else in the lab but she's smart she knows how to heal herself. You breathe deeply before leaving the lab you stayed on the other side of the entrance but you can't do it you couldn't leave her alone by herself in this state. You stay there close enough to peak inside and sit on the ground you two never talked to each other like that you couldn't let it just sit there and marrienate. You love her and she loves you and you are way too grown to just be shouting words because you're angry you slowly walk down the lab steps trying to stay quiet but you can't when you're met with a saddened tear faced Shuri.
"I'm sorry" she nods and wipes her face "I'm sorry too I know th-" you stop her before she can finish her sentence you had to say your piece first "I am so sorry Shuri your mother was like a mother to me too and I projected my hurt and vengeful feelings onto you and you know I would never do that in any normal situation. I saw how T'Challa's death broke you I saw the anger in your eyes when your mother died. You being the love of my life I couldn't help but be angry too but I'm forgetting about you and that always standing by your side means during the bad times too that goes for your decisions and for that I'm sorry." Shuri sniffles and smiles before kissing your forehead you let the burning tears run down your face as the guilt washes out. "I um... I apologize too" Shuri says as she wipes at your face and kisses your lips but you stand confused "...why?" She fidgets with her hands momentarily "I uhm I've never talked to you like that and I don't have the right the next time I talk like that to you you best smack me" and just like that your flirty personality is back "I thought you told me you didn't like being hit in bed" she widens her eyes before laughing and immediately regretting it as she holds her side "still not fully recovered for your jokes yet y/n."
"Hm my princess I was not joking" you glance her up and down before smiling "we should get you out of this suit so you can heal properly" she scoffs "heal properly? Sure if that's the word choice you're going with but I thought you liked my suit" she says glancing at your lips then back at your sweet eyes and you catch yourself stumbling over your next words so you quickly turn on your heel and walk up the lab steps to avoid embarrassment but you look back at her as she watches you walk.
"I do love your suit I made it but let's be honest you look so much better without it" Shuri smiles and watches you walk out of the lab.

Back In Your Arms: Shuri x Black! Fem! Reader
warnings: spoilers, mention of death, yelling, swearing, angst, lmk if i forgot anything
a/n: it's literally semester end for me and my brain is beyond fried so im sorry if this is ass lmao
Tumblr media
The minute you found out Shuri was planning an attack on Namor and the Talokanil, you were already readying yourself to join. Although you never verbally told her, she already knew by the way you spent extra time training in the early mornings and late nights. It was only the night before that Shuri told you that you were not included in the attack on the enemy.
You paced around her lab growing more agitated by the second, "What do you mean I'm not going tomorrow?" Shuri repeated herself firmly, "Exactly what that means. I do not understand why you are making this so difficult." You stopped pacing and faced her, throwing your hands in the air, "So what do you expect me to do?" Shuri didn't look away from the monitor in front of her as she added finishing touches to something she'd been working on, "I have arranged for you to stay in Jabariland until we have finished business with Namor. You will be accompanied by Noxolo and Taji, per General's recommendation. M'baku has also ordered two Jabari warriors to stay back as well for you."
Hearing her plan of making you sit around and do nothing only frustrated you more. You brought your hands up to your head then exclaimed, "I'm supposed to just sit around holed up in a goddamn cave while you and everyone else go save the world?! Are you fucking kidding me Shuri?! T'challa and Queen Ramonda would allow me to-"
"YOU DO NOT SPEAK THEIR NAMES! YOU DO NOT GET TO TELL ME WHAT THEY WOULD DO. THAT DOESN'T MATTER! THEY AREN'T HERE- THEY'RE GONE. " Shuri's voice echoed through her lab, the force of her voice reverberating in your chest. The queen took a deep breath and slowly walked over towards you with narrowed eyes. A pit formed in your stomach as you stared back at her, the light that shone behind those deep brown seas was gone. There was nothing but hatred and anger as it consumed her from the inside out that you could only bear witness to.
Shuri stood eye level with you and she spoke through gritted teeth, "You are staying back. That is an order from me as your queen. Do you understand?" You lowered your head and answered, "Yes...your highness." The title taste bitter on your tongue and it was clear by the slight sarcasm in your voice. Nonetheless you conceded to her order, and satisfied by your reply Shuri turned back to what she was working on, not even bidding you goodnight like she usually would.
꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷
Nearly six hours had passed since you first arrived in Jabariland for the time being. You were being sheltered in a den far within one of the mountains. A small fire burned in the center of the floor and small wooden furnishings adorned by furs perfectly place around the room. You sat upside down with your legs over the back of a chair while your head dangled above the floor.
From the entrance of the den, Olaitan, one of the Jabari warriors on guard insisted, "There was no space on the door for Jack. If he got on the door then they both would have died!" You shook your head in refusal and the mix of beads and shells that adorned your hair clicked together. You swung your legs back onto the ground and sat up straight, closing your eyes for a moment as the blood rushed back to your head.
Before you could reply, Noxolo, one of the Dora Milaje who accompanied you, cut in, "I refuse. Rose let Jack die. There was room on that door, she was just selfish." You listened to the young warrior, watching how the large scar over her white eye crinkled when she narrowed her gaze. You pointed to Noxolo and chimed in, "See that's exactly what I've been saying."
Across from you, Taji, another Dora Milaje shook her head, "How could Jack and Rose fit on that tiny piece of wood? There is no way that both of them could have survived! Olaitan and I are right- Jack wouldn't have made it if he wanted to save Rose!" Her deep brown eyes sparkled with delight of thinking she was right. You and Noxolo looked at each other with exasperated expressions. It had been two hours of this debate and neither side was willing to admit that they were wrong or right.
You slapped your hand against the floor and said, "Jack could have fit. There was an entire MythBusters episode on this!" Noxolo snapped her fingers and confirmed, "Yes, and they confirmed that Rose and Jack could have fit on the door in five different ways." Taji asked, "Did they do this experiment in the Northern Atlantic Ocean in April at night time? With individuals who measure exactly the same to Rose and Jack?"
At that argument you and Noxolo fell silent, making Taji and Olaitan laugh at you both. Desperate for a tie breaker you turned to the last person in the room who had yet to add their two cents into the debate. With a cheeky grin you asked, "Adisa, you're the deciding vote." The large Jabari warrior looked between you, the two Dora Milaje, and his fellow warrior.
A thick tension fell over the entire den, only the sound of the crackling fire at the center of the room could be heard. Adisa looked at you and Noxolo giving you a hopeful grin, but he responded, "I have never seen this 'Titanic' you all speak of." The four of you threw your hands in the air in defeat and annoyance as Adisa laughed heartedly at the disappointment he caused.
Purple flashes from your Kimoyo beads drew your attention from the rest of the group. You turned your back towards them and hunched over your wrist, waiting for a call to come through. It took a moment then you heard a familiar voice, "Ayo, Y/n." You held your beads closer and asked, "Riri? Why isn't Shuri the one calling me?" The student paused as if she was debating on telling you something before she simply replied, "She told me to call you." Your heart raced in your chest and you asked, "Why? Why would she ask you to do that? Is everything okay? Where is Shuri?"
Riri let out an exhausted sigh and told you, "Wait chill out. Take a breather, your girl is fine. She just has something she's doing right now aight? I was just calling to tell you they sending a flyer to pick you up. I'll see you when you get here, okay?" You but your lip nervously and answered much quieter than before, "Mhm. See you later." The call ended and you rested your head between your knees while taking deep breaths as you waited for the flyer to come get you.
꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷
The entirety of the ride back to the Citadel you were dead silent. Your leg bounced anxiously against the floor while you pulled at the coils along the nape of your neck. In your mind you replayed your last moments with Shuri before you left for Jabariland:
You step foot onto the flyer to see Shuri waiting for you with Riri by her side. While Riri grinned from ear to ear at seeing you, the queen did not wear the same expression. Exactly the same as the past few days, Shuri's face blank and emotionless, and her eyes looked empty. Your heart broke at the sight but you told yourself this was part of her grieving process.
It was as if Shuri was present but distant at the same time, just standing before you not making any motion towards you. Until you closed the space between the two of you by pulling her into your arms. Shuri then wrapped her arms around your body and rested her head on your shoulder. After a moment you pulled away from her and attempted to look her in the eyes. The queen turned her head slightly so she was looking just past you. A frown tugged at the corner of your lips and you held her face in your hands, "I'll see you when we get back, yeah?" Still refusing to look at you Shuri nodded ever so slightly in response but remained completely silent.
Your thumb grazed the side of her jaw and you placed a chaste kiss against her lips that she reciprocated. Slowly, your palms dragged lower, holding onto Shuri's neck gently and you quietly spoke so only she could hear you, "Sthandwa."
Finally, the queen's eyes met yours and you told her, "Be smart. Don't forget who you are." She nodded in understanding and you kissed her once more, "I love you Shuri." She held you tighter in her arms, squeezing you so hard it almost hurt- almost as if she didn't want you to leave. Your girlfriend pressed a kiss to your forehead and murmured against you, "I love you, y/n."
Shuri released you from her embrace and you walked further down the ramp to exit the ship. The queen stopped walking in front of the two Dora Milaje she'd assigned to accompany you. The two young women, Noxolo and Taji, were the youngest warriors in the group, but Okoye and Ayo recommended the two for the job.
The queen stopped the two warriors with a hand to the sterum, "You understand what is expected of you both, correct?" Noxolo and Taji replied confidently, "Yes your highness." Shuri lowly whispered to the two Dora Milaje, "Protect her at all costs." The two warriors once more answered in unison, "Yes your highness." Shuri stepped off of the flyer but not before looking over her shoulder to see you and Riri.
At the sight of Riri you cocked your head to the side and smiled. You pulled her into a side hug and told her, "Go kick some ass but promise me you'll be careful out there, aight?" The student gave you her word, "I got you, don't worry." You gave her a knowing look and she put her hands up in fake surrender with a laugh, "I'm being for real!" You punched her arm lightly and admitted, "I'm just teasing you don't worry." Riri turned to walk off the ship and said, "I'll see you when you get back!" All you could do was give a very convincing fake smile, because anything else and you would have ran back towards them and tried to stay. The flyer began to close and Shuri watched from the ground until it was no longer in sight with you in it.
꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷
The moment the flyer touched the ground and opened you were already trying to make your way to see Shuri. When the door opened Nakia was waiting for you while Ayo waited for Noxolo and Taji, pulling them aside immediately. You looked around to see many Dora Milaje missing. Slowly you turned back towards Ayo and noticed the paled look on Taji's face. The young warrior was out of earshot but the way she swallowed thickly and remained silent, accepting whatever Ayo was telling them made your stomach drop.
Whatever Nakia was trying to tell you started to sound like jibberish until you ran a full out sprint. You dashed up two flights of stairs and the long corridor leading to Shuri’s chamber. The beads and shells on your front braids smacked against your cheeks and eyes but you couldn't care less. The sound of running footsteps echoed behind yours and a woman called out, "Y/N! Stop!" Turning on your heel you faced Nakia, watching as she jogged up to you.
Tears burned your eyes as you shook your head in denial from already thinking the worst case scenario. Nakia held you by the shoulders and calmly spoke, "She is alive. She will be okay, Shuri will be alright, Y/n." Her words took a moment to register but soon you found your breaths slowing and tears stopping. Nervously you questioned, "What happened?" The older woman explained slowly, "While the rest of us were fighting on the ship, Shuri and Namor went off alone. I do not know the entre story, but all I know is they were battling on an island. Shuri has sustained multiple injuries that are being treated currently." As if she could read your mind, Nakia added, "You will be able to see her shortly. The healers must finish with her before then. You cannot get in their way."
Although your tears stopped falling you felt like you were going to fall apart all over again. Nakia gently placed an arm around your shoulder and led you away from Shuri's bedroom door. The chamber door opened and Nyakallo, the head healer, exited the room and waved you back over.
Nyakallo told you kindly, "Miss Y/N. You are able to visit her, she is resting now. If she needs anything you know how to call me." You thanked the older woman and burst into Shuri's room. Your girlfriend lay in her bed surrounded by pillows which made her look smaller than normal. Her lips were pale and chapped and her eyes shut with her hands resting over her chest. The concern on your face went away when Shuri cracked a smile and chuckled lightly. You groaned in annoyance and whined, "Even when you're seriously injured you still find the time to play with me huh?"
Shuri's eyes remained shut as she quietly answered, "I got speared to a rock. Let me have my fun...plus it's fun to mess with you." She could tell without looking that you were giving her an annoyed glare. You chose not to acknowledge the whole getting speared to a rock thing- that was for another time.
Your girlfriend hummed then requested, "Lay with me?" You pulled back her blankets and climbed into her bed next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Shuri slowly moved herself closer to you, and in the process you noticed how she was moving extremely stiff. The familiar and comforting smell of vanilla and ylang-ylang that clung to her sheets filled your senses. She rested her head on your chest and let out a breath that she seemed to have been holding for some time.
The two of you laid in silence until the queen let out a shaky breath, "I'm sorry. I yelled at you and I pushed you away recently when you were trying to be there for me. I'm sorry." You held onto Shuri's hand as she took another breath so she could continue, "I couldn't lose you too. He- he promised me he would-" Her voice broke as she remembered the promises Namor made and kept, resulting in her own massive loss. You gently shushed her, "Shhh. We don't have to have this conversation right now. You are supposed to be resting remember?"
Your girlfriend held back the tears that welled up behind her eyes, "Yes." She turned her head into your chest and you held her head closer to your heart. You stroked her head gently while whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Shuri's body started to relax against yours and soft snores fell past her lips. You kissed the top of her head and squeezed your eyes shut, thanking the ancestors and gods above that she was back in your arms again.

The high evolutionary is a great example. He's not someone who has universal power he only really has power over his creations. But the thing is one of those creations is Rocket someone we the audience care about. That's all you need, not a villain who's the biggest threat ever just one who is shown on screen to be a threat to things the audience cares about.
In a time where the MCU has villains that could wipe out planets it was Wilson Fisk was the guy who had audience attention. The Kingpin was never going to be a global threat, not even a government level threat but he was threat to Daredevil and that's all he needed to be. It took the time to make him a character the audience was intrigued by showing who he was and what he wanted.
Like the MCU can tell the audience that Kang is a big and powerful and has totally killed all these heroes for other universes, but who cares if destroyed worlds no one's seen? Who is Kang, what does he want who is he to Loki or Scott? He's just a threat and anyone can be a threat if you say they're dangerous. The fate of the world doesn't have to be at stake every time just something the hero cares about.
The world/universe is to big and undeveloped for people to care about. Like, either they're not go through with or they would only to immediately take it back or switch to a new world. We see the people and capital city of Wakanda we know what it means to T'Challa and Shuri so the audience cares when it's under threat. We know what it means to Natasha to reduce the Black Widows so we care about them. If the world is always at threat it doesn't mean anything anymore.
I think Doctor Doom should have been phase 4 big bad precisely he is a smaller threat than Thanos. He could personally effect multiple heroes in a way that's believable because of his ties to science mystic arts and politics. The heroes don't have to be sucked into this poorly thought out cosmic nonsense that really doesn't suit them just so there can be a a justification for them meeting. Also Doom is some who can start more ground level and gain power and that be the threat rather than claim this is the most dangerous person only for them to lose to ants and still have insisted this is someone the audience should fear.

When It Was Me // Shuri
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Shuri agreed to call it quits when you both wanted to go your separate ways. Her becoming Queen of Wakanda and you becoming one of the most well known celebrity photographers. You had left everything behind in Wakanda. But will a single invitation open the floodgates to everything you fought so hard to bury?
Pairing: Shuri x Fem!Reader
Warning: Angst // Mentioned Depression // Mentioned Character Death // Soft Break Up
Author’s Note: This is just something I thought of and decided to write it out lol.
Word Count: 1.5k
Tumblr media
The invitation in your hand shook as you trembled slightly while reading the words. An invitation directly from Shuri. Who is now Queen of Wakanda. The most powerful nation in the world. You honestly had expected her to reach out to you regarding the event. The two of you had broken up years prior to this. You were a simple village girl who managed to snag a job in her lab. Needless to say you caught her eye with your brilliant brain that sometimes outdid hers. She had never met someone who could keep up with her. You sometimes left her speechless. Soon after your friendship had molded into a romantic relationship. Okoye would always say you were like two peas in a pod. Ayo would call you soulmates. The queen loved you like her own and T'Challa adored the way you treated his sister. It feels like it was just yesterday when she came to you with a sequence she couldn’t figure out. The memories flooded your mind like a monsoon.
“You finished the sequence? Already? Bast you are really gifted, Y/N.”
“All in a days work.” You grinned as she grabbed your waist. She planted a short kiss on your temple as you leaned into her warmth.
“Come. I should treat you for helping me. Lunch is on me.” She smiled and you intertwined your fingers before kissing her softly on her lips.
You had left Wakanda to go to school for photography. It was your passion. Your dream. Even though she didn’t like the fact you weren’t in Wakanda 24/7, she stood behind every step of the way. She did what she could to visit you but at some point she couldn’t. Not with her life spiraling around her the way it was. When you heard of the passing of King T'Challa, Queen Ramonda had begged you to be by her daughter’s side. She didn’t have to beg as the Dora Milaje had come to escort you back to the palace. You couldn’t say no. You wouldn’t say no. You ran off the jet when it landed and went straight to the lab.
Shuri kept herself busy by swiping away at the tablet in her hands with a frown on her features. Her foot tapped at the floor, something she did when she was worried. You couldn’t help but grin at her as she ran around the lab.
“You shouldn’t frown so much. You’re too pretty for that.” As soon as the words left your mouth she turned to you with wide eyes. It didn’t take her long to drop the tablet and run into your awaiting arms. In the safety of your presence she broke down. You let her cry into your shoulder as you rubbed her back. “It’s okay. I’m here princess.”
You were there when she fell into the dark pit of depression. When she felt like she wasn’t good enough. Or didn’t do enough. You shot down those accusations and reminded her everyday how wonderful she was. That she was enough. And how T'Challa would be proud of her at every moment. How you were proud of her. You thought the two of you would have a break, but then Namor attacked. Flooding part of Wakanda. Murdering Queen Ramonda. Losing her brother and her mother within the course of two years did something to her. Something snapped in Shuri and you didn’t know how to help aside from being there for her. You were there when she successfully recreated the heart shaped herb. When she became the black panther.
You stood by her side as Nakia called out to Queen Ramonda. You watched as her veins began to glow purple as she visited the ancestral plane. You held onto the table she laid on and waited for her to come back. Kimoyo beads in your grip praying she doesn’t leave you. Nakia put an arm around you and you let out the breath you didn’t know you were holding.
“She will be okay. We’re all going to be okay.” You nodded just as Shuri quickly sat up trying to catch her breath. You knew something was up when she kept saying she didn’t see anyone. How they abandoned her.
“Why would they abandon me? Don’t touch me!” Nakia tried to calm down the spiraling princess until she punched a mannequin, sending it flying across the room.
“I think you’re going to need a suit.” Nakia said to her before she brought you to the room that held her brother’s mantle. You squeezed her hand as she looked at the helmets. Moving to where Killmongers rested. Another right next to it.
“My love. Be honest with me. Who did you see in the ancestral plane?” You muttered as you held her hands tight and she looked you in the eyes.
“Killmonger."
"What did he tell you?"
"To get it back. In blood.” She mumbled and you caressed her cheek.
“Is that your plan? Is that what you’re going to do?” You questioned and her lip trembled.
“I want Namor’s head Y/N. For what he did to my mother.” You saw vengeance cloud her eyes and you nodded. She had good reason to feel the way that she did and you weren’t going to try and stop her. Queen Ramonda was like a second mother to you. So you understood how the princess felt.
You were the only person she told. You were the only one who knew the truth about Killmonger being the one she saw. You promised her that the secret was safe with you. She urged you to stay in the palace while she went after Namor. She couldn’t risk you getting hurt. When she returned she let you know that an alliance had been formed. She fought the darkness in her heart and spared the enemy. You were happy she was back. And alive. When everything died down, Wakanda was starting to thrive again. You sat on top of the palace roof watching the sunset and Shuri joined you after not finding you in the lab.
“It’s over for now huh?” You asked and she nodded.
“It’s going to take some time for me to get used to everything now. My mother is gone. Wakanda is in need of a new ruler. This change, it might take a toll on us. I don’t want you to feel left out as I probably won’t be around as often.” She said and you let a tear roll down your cheek. She was right. This changes everything. You knew it would come to this. You may not get to see her as often as you did. You might not be able to have your late night talks anymore. Your late nights in the lab won’t be filled with laughter and jokes. She has bigger responsibilities now.
“I know. I thought about moving back to the states. Try for a photography job. Wakanda will always be my home. But you do have a huge responsibility now. One that I wouldn’t want you to be distracted from.” You grabbed her hand and she rubbed the back of your hand with her thumb.
“It’s your dream for photography, yeah? I want you to go for it. We’ll both have at least one distraction. My lab is my new bedroom.” She smiled and you couldn’t stop the laugh that left you.
“Y/N if you need anything. Anything at all. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me. You’ve been there for me through thick and thin. Even though we’ll be apart, you’ll always be my dearest Y/N.” She reached out to take you in her arms and you melted into her. The two of you stayed in each other’s arms as the sun went down.
That was all behind you now. You become the photographer you always wanted to be after moving to the states. She became queen of Wakanda with her new girl by her side. She told you she was trying to date again when you two kept contact. You were the one who urged her to step back out there. You were happy that she was happy. Your phone rang, tearing you from reminiscing old memories and you quickly reached for your cell as a familiar name was on the screen.
“Jessie.”
“Bitch tell me you got the invitation. I can barely control myself right now!” You could hear her breathing on the other end and let out a laugh.
“Girl I got it.” You grinned and she squealed on the other end.
“Y/N this shit is huge. We’ll be covering a party in Wakanda! I need to get my braids redone TONIGHT. We’ll need some new fits. We gotta show out and we got to do it right!” She said and you smiled to yourself.
“Yeah. I’ll probably get some locs done and see if Riri can fit check me while I pack.” You told her and she clapped her hands.
“Bitch I can’t wait! I’ll see you Friday at the airport. Make sure you have your good lens. Might need some wide shots."
"What airport? This is Wakanda we are talking about. Where we were personally invited. Girl, we won’t need to go to the airport.” You chuckled remembering how your invite said the Dora milaje will pick you and your partner up from your place.
“Ou shit! Ya girl got to get her hoe fit ready. I’ll see you Friday girl.”
“Bye.” You hung up the phone and eyed the invitation sitting on your bed. Standing up you walked over to your closet with a wide grin. You were going home.

NEGLECTED (III)
Shuri x GN! Reader
Summary: While Reader is on their way to the party, Shuri gets a talking to and starts to feel regret for her outburst.
Warnings: Angst, AU, shouting
----------------------------------------------
While you were flying with your family to the Avengers Compound, Shuri was continuing her work in her lab. She was, as always, completely drowned in her work. She hadn't payed a seconds attention on her words towards you an hour earlier, and was instead focusing on her new security cameras, when she heard footsteps nearby.
"I told you I didn't-" She stopped her words of anger when she saw T'Challa and Okoye walking into her lab. "Oh, it's you two. For what reason do I owe this little visit?" T'Challa and Okoye looked at Shuri, their faces stern. "Sister, we must talk." Shuri rolled her eyes and said, "Listen, if it's about Y/N, I promise I'll,"
"It is about Y/P, but it is not like our last talks. We saw Y/P leaving with sadness on his face. What did you say," said a serious Okoye. Shuri, with a twinge of fear, said, "I just told them how annoying they are with their constant pestering with these gifts. And most of them aren't even that good!"
"Shuri!" T'Challa said in utter shock and anger. Shuri soon followed up with, "What?! I work so much and so long for my country, and Y/P comes in and distracts me just so they can bring me...these! I swear, if Y/P didn't distract me, I'd be able to get twice as much work done!"
"Enough!" The three looked to the voice to see Queen Ramonda in the hallway them. She walked into their room, dismissed Okoye, and said her piece to Shuri.
"Shuri, words cannot express my disappointment in you. You are usually much more composed, yet now, your words have dealt as much damage to Y/N as any weapon you can or have made." Shuri angrily asked, "How?! What harm comes from telling the truth?!"
Ramonda kept her composure, and simply gestured to the bracelet you had made for Shuri. "Look at that." Shuri responded, "I did. It's subpar, mother-" "No. REALLY look at it." Shuri reluctantly picked up the bracelet, and analysed it again. "Well...the (colour) fabric used for the ring is a nice look, I'll give Y/P that..."
"The (material) beads added on do complement the fabric, and the heart shapes...are quite nice. OK...it's actually pretty good." Ramonda continued, "Good. Now, look at everything else Y/P's brought you." Shuri looked to her workshop, and soon picked up a necklace you made for her. "This necklace...the (material) used in this makes it gorgeous! And I just left it there?!...Because I was...working..."
Ramonda nodded to T'Challa, as they both saw Shuri start to understand.
"This shirt...I always wanted one of those double sleeve shirts, yet when Y/P made me one...I just...dropped it there." Shuri's stomach started feeling really bad. "This...this golden knife. Y/P made me this for self defense...and I threw it there..."
Finally, she grabbed a photo of you and Shuri at a Christmas festival in New York. "I...I loved that festival...Y/P wanted me to remember, and...and..." Soon after she stopped her sentence, tears started pouring down her face, as she chuckled. "I remember Thor had to hold back Loki when I flustered Y/N..."
"They've done all of this for me, and...I said they weren't good...And I...I told Y/P that Y/P annoyed me..." Shuri fell to her knees, the waterfalls falling from her eyes. "Oh, Bast, what have I done...I've broken Y/P heart...over what?! Over some damn piece of technology?!" She furiously stood up and threw many pieces of her work away, nearly hitting T'Challa with one.
"Now you see, Shuri?" Shuri looked up to her mother, and tearfully said, "Yes, mother...I need to find Y/P, and make it up to Y/P!" She quickly checked the security cameras around Wakanda, and didn't see you anywhere. So she reversed the cameras footage until she saw one recorded when you were blasted out of Wakanda by Bifrost.
"Y/P...Y/P left...Then Y/P's either at New Asgard or New York!" Shuri immediately got out of her chair and left her lab, determined to find you.

Warning: Angst // Mentioned Depression // Mentioned Character Death // Soft Break Up
Author's Note: This is just something I thought of and decided to write it out lol.
It feels like it was just yesterday when she came to you with a sequence she couldn't figure out. The memories flooded your mind like a monsoon.
"You finished the sequence? Already? Bast you are really gifted, Y/N."
"All in a days work." You grinned as she grabbed your waist. She planted a short kiss on your temple as you leaned into her warmth.
"Come. I should treat you for helping me. Lunch is on me." She smiled and you intertwined your fingers before kissing her softly on her lips.
You had left Wakanda to go to school for photography. It was your passion. Your dream. Even though she didn't like the fact you weren't in Wakanda 24/7, she stood behind every step of the way. She did what she could to visit you but at some point she couldn't. Not with her life spiraling around her the way it was. When you heard of the passing of King T'Challa, Queen Ramonda had begged you to be by her daughter's side. She didn't have to beg as the Dora Milaje had come to escort you back to the palace. You couldn't say no. You wouldn't say no. You ran off the jet when it landed and went straight to the lab.
Shuri kept herself busy by swiping away at the tablet in her hands with a frown on her features. Her foot tapped at the floor, something she did when she was worried. You couldn't help but grin at her as she ran around the lab.
"You shouldn't frown so much. You're too pretty for that." As soon as the words left your mouth she turned to you with wide eyes. It didn't take her long to drop the tablet and run into your awaiting arms. In the safety of your presence she broke down. You let her cry into your shoulder as you rubbed her back. "It's okay. I'm here princess."
You were there when she fell into the dark pit of depression. When she felt like she wasn't good enough. Or didn't do enough. Something snapped in Shuri and you didn't know how to help aside from being there for her. You were there when she successfully recreated the heart shaped herb. When she became the black panther.
You stood by her side as Nakia called out to Queen Ramonda. You watched as her veins began to glow purple as she visited the ancestral plane. You held onto the table she laid on and waited for her to come back. Kimoyo beads in your grip praying she doesn't leave you. Nakia put an arm around you and you let out the breath you didn't know you were holding.
"She will be okay. We're all going to be okay." You nodded just as Shuri quickly sat up trying to catch her breath. You knew something was up when she kept saying she didn't see anyone. How they abandoned her.
"Why would they abandon me? Don't touch me!" Nakia tried to calm down the spiraling princess until she punched a mannequin, sending it flying across the room.
"I think you're going to need a suit." Nakia said to her before she brought you to the room that held her brother's mantle. You squeezed her hand as she looked at the helmets. Moving to where Killmongers rested. Another right next to it.
"My love. Be honest with me. Who did you see in the ancestral plane?" You muttered as you held her hands tight and she looked you in the eyes.
"Killmonger."

okay someone else probably asked this already but... a part 3 of this black panther x tiny reader fic going on where they meet T'challa and shuri... would be golden... just saying...
you ask and YE SHALL RECIEVE
(parts 1 and 2)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Really? That’s your name?”
You gave Ross a look of utter perplexity. Of all the reactions you were expecting, that was certainly not one of them. What was wrong with Lina?
He promptly apologized for his adverse reaction. “Sorry, it’s, uh, it’s been a long day. … More like a long few months.” He sighed, suddenly keen on changing the subject. “Look, I know you might not want to tell me everything, and that’s okay, but… can you tell me how exactly you got here?”
You didn’t really want to explain it all – or relive it – but you really didn’t have a choice. You recounted all the details, observing the way his expression changed from curious to concerned to downright angry.
“Jeez, kid. I’m sorry you had to go through all of that.” You nodded to show your appreciation for his concern, which he was grateful for. “But, believe it or not, it’s almost a good thing that this happened. We haven’t had any leads on Killmonger’s whereabouts or business dealings, and you just gave us a place to start. I know T’Challa and Shuri will really appreciate that.”
You winced at those names. More people. More giants.
This time, Ross noticed. “Sorry, but I can’t not tell them about you.” He racked his brain, searching for the best way to calm you down. “Think about it this way. If you were… normal-sized… and you essentially trespassed into someone else’s very big, very important castle, and you had information they were looking for… wouldn’t they have the right to meet you and find out what you know?”
You hesitated. That was a good point, you supposed, but it left out a key detail – you didn’t intend for this to happen. You just wanted to leave and not be caught up in what was quickly becoming a global conspiracy in your mind.
Ross abruptly came to a stop. He could feel your tremors increasing the more he talked about T’Challa and Shuri. He wanted to move this case along, but above all, he just wanted you to feel safe and secure.
“Hey,” he said softly, lifting his hand up so you could be at eye level. He marveled at your tiny form, still not quite sure how something so small and delicate could exist. “I know this is probably really, really scary for you. But trust me, T’Challa and Shuri would never hurt a fly. I promise they’ll be nothing but kind to you. Okay?”
All you could do was nod and try your best to trust him.
You tried to take your mind off the impending meeting by admiring the regality of the massive hallways you passed through. It hadn’t really sunk in until Ross said castle – this place was for literal royalty. You were about to meet some of the most important people of this country, maybe even the world. Even if you only discovered its existence a few days ago, it felt like an unbelievably daunting and important task.
Your surroundings changed as you went along, becoming more dark and ominous as you descended. Soon you were in a dimly-lit hallway that looked more akin to your underground hideouts and passageways than a place that housed nobility. You approached a single door that was pretty mundane at first, until you got close to it. The design on it was shimmering and intricate, as if it were changing with each flicker of your gaze. Ross asked if you were ready, and after a few deep breaths, you gave him the thumbs-up.
The room was infinitely more imposing than the last one, because this wasn’t just a room. It was a lab, filled with tables and insane-looking equipment and a larger-than-life artful spiral staircase in the middle. The sterile LED lights were enough to send you into a panic.
Instinctively, Ross curled his fingers around you just a little bit tighter, temporarily sealing you off from the overwhelming world above you. His warmth was able to bring your heart rate back down to semi-normal.
“Ah, Agent Ross,” a soft, yet confident voice rang out. That was undoubtedly Prince T’Challa.
“My favorite white man!” a much more youthful voice interjected. Definitely Princess Shuri.
“Aw, I’m touched,” Ross deadpanned. “I, ah, I’m afraid I have some bad news.”
“Straight to the point,” T’Challa mused. “What is it?”
“Well, firstly, Killmonger was here.”
A cold silence. “What? When?” Shuri finally asked.
“Days ago.”
T’Challa shifted uncomfortably. “How did we not notice?”
“He was in and out very quickly, I think. He had just come back from England and was probably keen on getting back there as soon as possible.”
“How do you know he was in England?” Shuri questioned. “An hour ago, you didn’t know anything.”
Ross sighed as your breathing picked up. Here it comes.
“I, uh… I had some help.”
You felt yourself being lifted up even higher, and soon, you had to cover your eyes for a moment as those harsh LED lights penetrated your sight. The light only became dimmer when two dark, long shadows suddenly appeared over you.
There was a moment of awed silence before Shuri finally spoke. “No way…”
“Agent Ross? Who is this?”
To everyone’s surprise, Shuri rolled her eyes. “They’re a borrower, brother. How do you not know?”
“How do you know?” Ross asked.
Shuri shrugged. “Because I am cultured.” She finally took a moment to truly study you – sure, she knew about borrowers, but she had never actually seen one. Certainly not in Wakanda. You were scared out of your wits, that much was clear, but she could also see just how disheveled you were… like you had been through more and seen more than most people had in their entire lives.
“What is your name, little one?” You were surprised that Shuri was being so gentle.
“It’s Lina,” Ross said, silently praying that you would calm down. “They, uh, they’re not too keen on talking.”
“That’s alright,” Shuri said, sympathy in her voice as she looked right at you.
“How exactly did they get here?” T’Challa cut in. It was his turn to gawk at you now. He would have to ask Shuri how she knew all about “borrowers” later. Right now, he was just stunned that something like you existed.
Ross knew you weren’t going to want to recount the story again, so he did all the talking. You cowered under the gazes of the three giants, who all shot you sad glances whenever Ross retold a particularly grueling detail.
“All the way from England, huh?” T’Challa said when Ross was done. “You must be exhausted, Lina.”
You nodded. You could say that…
Suddenly, Shuri’s eyes lit up. “I’ll be right back!” she declared, taking off so fast that you almost fell backwards in Ross’s hand.
T’Challa frowned as he continued to stare. He already felt a tremendous responsibility to protect his people from outside threats… and now he had to protect you, too. He just had to. He couldn’t let you go back out there with Ross, it was too dangerous. Especially not after what Killmonger had done to you. There was no place on earth safer than Wakanda.
“Lina…” he started, leaning down to get to your level. You gulped. “My name is T’Challa, prince of Wakanda. I’m sorry you had to go through that with my cousin. He is… well, we’re trying to bring him to justice. I wish I had known… I would have helped you if I knew you were in that room all alone.”
You blushed. How could he possibly feel bad about that? “It’s– it’s okay,” you stammered, just loud enough for him to hear. “I–I’m fine now.”
T’Challa noticed the way you were nervously eyeing the landscape of the room, and he realized what all the lab equipment might look like to someone so small. “Don’t worry, little one, you’re safe in here with us. We’re not going to hurt you.”
You stared up at the giant prince. No matter how skeptical you were, his soft expression and caring voice were pretty convincing. He truly sounded like he wanted to help.
As quickly as she had left, Shuri came running back into the room. “I had some leftover samosas! I thought our little guest would be hungry.”
“I thought there was a strict no food in the lab rule?” T’Challa teased.
Shuri rolled her eyes. “Come on, brother, don’t be rude! You know exceptions can be made.” Shuri laid the samosa down on a mostly-empty lab table and broke off an impossibly small piece.
She didn’t need to say anything to know what would happen next. The room fell silent as Ross slowly lowered his hand to the tabletop, teeth clenching at the tremors he could still feel from you. He hated that you had to be so petrified just to get something to eat.
You ambled off his hand, your hunger overpowering all your thoughts as you caught a whiff of the samosa. You had never smelled anything quite like it before.
You tried to ignore the heat of everyone’s stares, but you supposed watching you go about your daily life was like a novelty for them. Honestly, you couldn’t blame them; if you got the opportunity to just watch a human go about their day in peace, you wouldn’t look away.
You tried not to think about the fact that this samosa was almost as tall as you were. Luckily, the piece Shuri broke off for you was more than manageable. You took a cautious bite, as if it were a trap, but the instant the food hit your taste buds, it was like you were in a trance. In an instant, your food was gone.
The three humans couldn’t help but smile as you wolfed down your food, until Ross asked a sobering question. “Jeez, they must not get a lot to eat, huh?”
The Wakandan siblings exchanged glances. “Hm. I never really thought of that,” Shuri admitted.
“They must not have much of anything. Is this how you found them?” T’Challa asked.
“Yeah. Nothing but the clothes on their back.”
“Well, that simply won’t do.” T’Challa let you finish eating before once again bending down to your level. “Lina, how would you like to stay here with us for a while?”
You paused, and T’Challa read the apprehension on your face perfectly. “I know, it’s a lot to take in. And you probably trust Everett more than you trust us. But, you’ll be safer here than with him.”
Above you, Ross cleared his throat. “He’s right,” he admitted, almost painfully. “What I do, it’s dangerous stuff. People get hurt, or worse. And while I’m trying to track down Killmonger… I’m afraid what might happen to you if he caught you again.”
You shuddered at the mere thought of ever seeing that man again. You didn’t think you’d be able to handle it.
“Will… will I see you again?” you asked Ross sheepishly.
His face turned red. “Yeah, yeah, of course I’ll see you again.”
“If we let him cross the border again, that is,” Shuri smiled.
“Oh, come on, you guys love me.”
You admired the way the three of them bantered so freely, with no repercussions for speaking out of turn or saying the wrong thing. You realized right then and there that that’s all you’ve ever wanted.
Suddenly, T’Challa’s open palm was right next to you. Somehow, you weren’t as nervous to climb onto this hand. It was soft and radiated warmth.
“Shuri, I want you to make Lina feel like they’re right at home, okay?” T’Challa commanded. He didn’t need to elaborate for his sister to know exactly what he meant. He gazed down at you and smiled. “For now, little one, let’s get you somewhere that isn’t a giant laboratory.”
“Th-thank you,” you managed. “I… borrowers, we don’t normally–we aren’t supposed to talk to giants. But I never knew… I never knew they could be so kind.”
T’Challa felt a warm feeling bubble up in his chest. “Well, I’m happy to break that stereotype.”
“I promise, we won’t let anything happen to you,” Shuri reassured me, popping into view.
“And if anyone hurts you, I’ll kill them,” Ross said, too serious to be a joke but just humorous enough to make you laugh. He shrugged when Shuri and T’Challa stared at him. “What?”
“Now, if you’re okay with it, I’d really love to ask you some questions,” Shuri said, pulling a tablet off a nearby table. “I’m almost positive all my information about borrowers is horribly wrong.”
T’Challa pulled you close to his chest. You didn’t protest. “Are you alright with that, Lina?”
You didn’t need more than a few seconds to give him an answer.
“Yeah, I’m definitely alright with that.”

Wakanda Forever, second viewing
Here are some things I'd like to discuss
-- The parallel between Ramonda's speech at the UN when she says "now is our time to strike" putting words in the mouth of the US and France, compared to when Shuri says "now is our time to strike" about Talokan.
-- Okoye's "we are home" to Ramonda just like she said to T'Challa in the first film. I said out loud, "This never gets old." People looked at me funny.
-- How Ramonda is trying to get Shuri to go back to research on the Heart-Shaped Herb. I think she is trying to get Shuri ready to be the Black Panther, and trying to get her to do the emotional work necessary, but it's so sad that it's only her death that makes Shuri go back to it.
-- Okoye calling MIT the equivalent of a "Wakandan village school." I'm never going to get to go to Wakanda, guys, I got rejected from all but my state school. Ack.
-- Both Ramonda and Shuri seem to see Nakia as almost kin to them. They both go to her when they feel totally alone (Ramonda after Shuri is kidnapped and Shuri at the end).
-- Namor's description of his childhood is kind of scary. People thought he was a god since he was a child? No one seems to be providing any sort of parental guidance after his mother passes. I think he's gonna need all the therapy.
-- I notice all of the Talokanil drink their blue herb (it's like the Heart-Shaped Herb but all I don't know the name, just that it's blue not purple), and then seem to pass out or pass away. I wonder if they go to their version of the ancestral plane? We don't see it but it seems to be put there for a reason. Wakanda is powerful but it's not like all its citizens take the Heart-Shaped Herb. Only the Panther. They really can't survive a war with Talokan, unless Shuri starts growing a LOT more of those Herbs.
-- Disturbing to see how planned the attack on Ramonda is. The Talokanil draw defenses (Ayo) away from the Throne Room specifically so Namor can kill her, and she seems to know it because she tries to make Riri leave. (Angela Bassett's face when Dominique Thorne askes if she can call her mom!) And then Namor waits there, while Ramonda drowns, to tell Shuri she is Queen now.
-- Is Killmonger's sweater the same one he wears in BP1 just in white not black? I love the detail on these things. He doesn't seem to understand why Ramonda died for a girl from the "Lost Tribe" when T'Chaka killed his own brother. And I'm like, "Cuz Ramonda was fucking great, that's why."
-- I do wish Angela Bassett got some fight scenes. I'm an iffy on her white wig and usually I love the hair in BP movies compared to the terrible, terrible wigs in most MCU projects.
-- I want to talk more about Ayo being the General of the dora milaje now!! When Okoye is there, she wears the gold adornments, and after, it is Ayo who has gold. so clearly she got promoted in Okoye's absence. But how does she feel about that? Aneka seems to have left the dora also. What is that relationship like? Guys, I need more. I feel like there was more Aneka that was cut, because all we see of her leaving the dora is her giving those daggers back to Shuri?
-- I wrote a whole post about the parallels to the Challenge Day from BP1 and this film and didn't notice Shuri quotes M'Baku's line from BP1, "Your technological advancements have been overseen by a child" back to him and that's what prompts the line about her not being a child anymore. Sob.
-- I would be interested in a post about Shuri's hair journey. There's definitely an evolution from the first scene to the last.
-- Namora is such a badass. She takes a blast right in the chest from Riri and is not deterred in the slightest. I think she's neat.
-- Ryan Coogler said W'Kabi is in exile, but where do we think he went exactly? Ramonda suggests somewhere Okoye can visit. I wonder if they are trying to make it work still. She is very loyal, I guess. Usually putting a spear to your husband's throat ends a marriage.
-- Griot addresses Shuri as "princess" but in the scene where she says goodbye to Riri he calls her "Panther". She levelled up.
