Here in the Zone, there is a (un)healthy population of slightly mutated cats, which are decendants from the remaining pets still around Pripyat and the villages near by after the 1986 ChNPP Disaster, so we usually have to spook off larger groups that are hungry enough to attack.
Interestingly, there is this one specific group which seems to have distanced itself from this one cat, I've been studing it for a while, and it seems this cat doesn't have the same level of aggression that the others do.
I've bought a few cans of tuna from Hawaiian and asked him to help me source a blanket and pillow, I'm going to try to domesticate him. I've heard rumours that some much bigger, much more dangerous mutants have been domesticated, so I have high hopes.
In other news, I've began to notice the quirks and rituals of stalkers here in the zone, how they all act and what they do interacting with each other. I've seen;
Stalkers drink vodka to combat radiation poisoning
Stalkers SMOKE cigarettes to combat raditation (Do they realise smoking causes cancer?)
There is a mythic level Stalker named "Strelok", apparently has been to the center of the zone numerous times, or atleast, from what I gather.
The Mercenaries, not our eco merc guard detatchment, apparently eat the flesh of Snorks, which are slightly mutated stalkers.
Stalkers seem like unfriendly people, considering they're all armed and very dangerous, yet they'll huddle around campfires, tell jokes, trade food and cigarettes and swap contact info. It's like an unofficial brotherhood of sorts.
Most delusionally believe in this "Wish Granter" at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant that will grant any wish you have.
I've heard of other women operating in the Zone, but I haven't see any myself, doubtful if they exist.
Professor Sakharov has me tasked on a project with getting a handful of artefacts for him, a Jellyfish, an Empty and a Chain. Any stalkers who know the whereabouts of any of these or have these artefacts, swing by the lab and we'll talk.

Hey!! trying to get into ultrakill and you totally seem like the person to ask...... is there anything I should know before getting into it? Thank you!(I think you're so cool by the way,
AAAHHH OMG BATS MY EYELASHES AT YOU. That's so exciting to hear oms I hope you like it... but uhhh hm!! I'm unsure if you mean ur gunna play it or not but either way, the first thing I can think of that may be worth knowing is that ultrakill has a lot of environmental storytelling and almost everything you see has information. Nearly everything has detail put into it. The graphics are crunchy because V1 lowered the quality to save energy. There's multiple swordsmachines because it's a popular design and other machines liked it. Certain machines have certain details to subtly show they're made by the same "brand." The terminals are sentient and bored. Everything is alive.
But it's also worth knowing that the people behind Ultrakill are DORKS and have left textures in out-of-bound areas saying "penis :)" and there's a Filth asleep in the clocktower that goes "snork mimimi" and there's a SECRET DATING SIM MINIGAME and you can also go fishing and there's a Stalker behind a pyramid that's building a sandcastle.
So whether u play ur urself or watch someone else, looking at the world around and seeing what details you can gather from that is smth I recommend I think. bc even though it's an FPS where you can coin people to death and (eventually) throw chainsaws, exploration is definitely a strong suit it has too :]

Anvil Industry is doing some new STALKER-based models, which is STALKERS in gorka suits, with those visored Russian helmets and the gasmasks, along with the Vintorez rifle, as well as some nice dogs, both tame and feral, as well as Snorks.
I am excited for this because that would be cool to paint up, especially when you combine the Anvil Industry High-Tech arms and legs to make the powered exo-skeleton suits from STALKER.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat (PC Game Review)
Tumblr media
The third installment in the S.TA.L.K.E.R. game series,  Call of Pripyat is mostly more of the same from the first two games - which is a good thing! It maintains the spooky atmosphere, a large and mysterious world to explore, wonderful music and sound design, and the fun survival game-play of the first two games in the series. However, there are some new differences as well!
Tumblr media
I feel bad for Nitro because he kinda looks like putin. He seems way nicer than that asshole! For those who haven't read my other reviews for this series, a brief description of the games concept is that it is a open world sci-fi survival horror series based on the real Chernobyl exclusion zone - but populated by treasure hunters called Stalkers, as well as various organized factions. The zone is also populated by mutants, anomalies, and other creepy mysterious things.
Tumblr media
In this title you play as a soldier who is entering the zone disguised as a Stalker, attempting to find out what happened to 5 military helicopters that went down in the zone.  Some of the first things you'll notice is that this title got a redesigned HUD, which looks really nice and compliments the worn-down industrial feel of many of the structures you'll explore in-game. Another thing you'll notice is that the game is broken up into less sections than the first two games, rather opting for 3 main areas, all of which are huge and full of places to explore.
Tumblr media
Somebody make this guy watch a gun safety video. Sheesh! Another difference from the first two games is that this game feels much more quest-heavy - you can find a ton of characters who will give out lines of quests for you to complete. Considering that Fallout 3 released a year prior to this game, I couldn't help but wonder if GSC Gameworld took inspiration form some of the great features of that tile, such as the huge increase in quests and much larger environments.
Tumblr media
Another change I noticed in this title is that whereas previously, hidden item stashes were something you would find in a container, they're now found as loose objects - which could be problematic at times as I occasionally have difficulty squeezing into various small crevices to pick up all the items!
Tumblr media
A change they made for this title that I didn't care for was how the player moves between the game's three main areas. In previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles, you were mostly free to travel in between the various locations on the world map on foot, by simply navigating to transition points on the map. Unfortunately, in this game, you can only change areas by talking to a guide, and in the first two areas of the game, the guide will always charge you money. While I found this change a bit annoying, the good news is that even on the highest difficulty, it is very easy to accumulate cash by completing quests and repairing and selling the many, many guns you can find on the bodies of dead people around the zone. Because of this, I can at-least say I never got stuck in a situation where I couldn't afford to travel to an area.
Tumblr media
As with all the S.TA.L.K.E.R. titles, things can be a little buggy sometimes. Some glitches are humorous, such as NPC characters having weird animation errors, but others can be frustrating, such as the time when several Snorks (a type of mutant in the game) were able to hit through me through the ceiling from a  floor below, killing me inside of a building.
Tumblr media
There isn't much more to say that wouldn't just be me repeating what I said in my reviews for the first two games. I definitely recommend this along with all the other .STA.L.K.E.R. titles for anyone who likes spooky post apocalyptic games, or survival games. If you enjoyed Fallout 3, you'd likely enjoy this as well, just don't expect it to have the tongue-in-cheek Americana humor. It's overall a much more gloomy game.
Tumblr media
You can get this and the other two titles on Steam, or on good old games DRM-Free, or even as physical copies since they're thankfully older games! Also, like the other games in the series, there seems to a robust modding community, so even once you've beaten the main story you can always replay the game with mods to add more fun and variety!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In some locations of the game, there’s these cute paintings of animal characters, such as this fox lady.
Tumblr media
Looking forward to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.  2s release now that I’ve completed the original trilogy of games!

stalker gamma thoughts
fuckn oh damn oh god stalker gamma is too much fun. i've played other stalker anomaly modpacks like "escape from pripyat/EFP" but gamma stands head and shoulders above everything i think. it's so immersive, it's expanded and re-contextualized popular anomaly mods and features into a really cohesive fucking meaty game game experience, and it's not stalker hardcore mod glass chewing overly difficult either you can really tailor the experience to what you are looking for. i'm not playing with campfire saves but i'm playing scavenger difficulty with hard combat and the mags redux mod (which makes you have to pack your own mags and rebalances a lot of the rifles as there are different magazine capacities available for most guns instead of being locked to whatever the gun comes with in default "automatically refilling magazines with your cock while you shoot the bad guys" mode)
after scumming all around the south with a nasty sawn-off over-under double barrel shotgun and pockets full of 12 gauge slugs i was finally able to put together the cash and resources to fully repair an AK-74M and oh my god... i was giggling like a true fool at finally having an automatic rifle that could empty its magazine without jamming. what a delightful game! now i can burn more roubles mag dumping snorks that come and rip me in half anyway
play stalker gamma its completely free and mod installation is pretty dang painless. you dont even need to own a stalker game it's actually fucking actually actually free!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravekeeper?
Journal of Ilya Morozov, October 26. 2012.
Well, they put me to guard at night.. with few others, of course, but I should've kept my mouth shut. I didn't feel tired because of the now dead Freedomer, a lot of grim images went through my head but not about the soldier- about Luka getting the same fate.
The night went pretty slowly, I sometimes went over to the campfire to rest my legs but no one was interested in talking. I rested my legs twice until one of the veterans who held back Filip from busting my face more, he walked over to me and sat down next to me. "I think you should leave to Agroprom tonight." The veteran whispered to me and I got anxious from it, I thought that the veteran had made threats against me while I was guarding the small camp. "Why? Has something happened there?" I didn't want to ask directly- it would've been better if he said that the veteran will kill me or something if I didn't leave. "Erh- Filip can't stand you at all. You know- after what you said about the rookie. We don't want any more conflicts and in my opinion, it would be better if you two 'froze' your uhh-.. friendship? for a day or two?".
I gave him a nod and he then left the fire, I definitely didn't want my nose getting broken again but I then got curious about the rookie? They barely ever get to work with veterans- they mostly are trained by generals and low rank officers. Maybe he was a relative? So many questions. Although I didn't leave during the night, maybe it could've been a better option since at morning- as Filip stepped outside the barracks, he instantly tried to grab me while swearing at me. He called me a lot of things but the veteran who talked to me at night held him and prevented him from touching me, I ran away from the camp towards the Red Forest and started my trip back home alone. But the trip wasn't going to be normal, Filip's friend gave me a request to go and find the rookie's body and drag it with me back to Agroprom- fuck.. me.. He even gave me coordinates leading to the body- he said that it could get Filip to quit hating me and maybe even give me some respect, I really couldn't give two shits about his respect.
I did it anyways because if I hadn't retrieved the body, I would've felt bad about it for a long time.. Why didn't I keep my mouth shut?.. Now I had to carry a rotting body over my shoulder all the way to Agroprom.. A small group of snorks followed me like vultures behind me, they definitely were waiting for me to drop the body but no. "Attack me and I'll shoot every one of you little shits.." Since I got lucky with one snork, I was stupid enough to try it again but nothing. Those mutants kept following me while trying to scare me with loud growls and roars, they looked pretty weak and skinny and I thought that they didn't wanna risk getting injured? I'm not a mutant vet..
-Ilya Morozov.

Rewatching Hook Man
Welcome to “We Root for the Bad Guys: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!
 Up today, s1e7: Hook Man
Sam and Dean come up against an (the?) actual manifestation of the Hook Man legend when they investigate the violent death of a dudebro who, honestly, kind of deserved it. Another person gets hooked and the boys start suspecting there's a connection to dudebro's girlfriend and her super-strict pastor father. They're... almost right. Dudebro's girlfriend gives a lesson on what not to do if a cute boy is hanging around outside your house at night, stalker-style (thank goodness Cute Boy is just Sammy). There's a quality Winchesters in a Library scene, with a Dean with a Pen Cap in His Mouth bonus.
Below is a log of our real-time reactions as we watched. Remember that there may be spoilers for any part of SPN’s 15-season run here.  Note also that the nature of our conversation is adult and thus it may contain adult language and themes.
  [and we begin:]
  Lor:
aw, Jensen is still saying "previously on Supernatural." I wonder when that stops
 Mace:
Ha! I never even notice
 Lor:
lol
Mace:
"there's a hot chic buried somewhere in there" fuck you, bad friend
 Lor:
Laurie looks lovely exactly the way she's dressed
RIGHT?
 Mace:
YES SHE DOES
DUDE SHE SAID NO
 Lor:
RIGHT?
 Mace:
Come on, hook dude, take care of this douche
Lor:
LOLOLOL
routing for the bad guys
look, douchecanoe, in addition to "no means no and only yes means yes," you gotta learn that when the woman says "let's get out of here," YOU SHOULD GET OUT OF THERE
 Mace:
Ha, yep. There's this whole thing now about how villains in movies are becoming too relatable and script writers feel the need to make them do something really unforgivable even if it's out of character just to redirect the audience back to the idea that they are, in fact, the bad guys. It's... not exactly wrong...
 Lor:
yep
 Mace:
FRANCES
 Lor:
lol
 Mace:
Dean's not saying "Dad doesn't want to be found" INTERESTING
 Lor:
Yeah
 Lor:
and what are YOU drinking, Dean?
 Mace:
he's... liking the new dynamic of he and Sammy and no judgmental Dad, maybe?
not that he would admit that to himself out loud
 Lor:
ooo, YEP
LOLOLOL Sam and Dean as fraternity brothers
 Mace:
omg Sammy actually paints the dude
 Lor:
RIGHT?
 Mace:
Adorable
 Lor:
and Dean isn't exactly not looking, despite refusing to do it himself
 Mace:
Hm
 Lor:
lol, Dean letting the church door slam shut
 Mace:
YES
Cas cringes in heaven
 Lor:
SNORK
 Mace:
I love her hair pulled back like that
she's adorable
 Lor:
agreed it looks so lovely
"young people who are open to the lord's message" the way some of this stuff hits when you know where the show ends up going
 Mace:
RIGHT?!
 Lor:
Dean blowing the dust off the box and his little "thanks"
 Mace:
YES
Oh Dean, honey, that's not really what college is like
 Lor:
LOL
he never got to find out, poor lamb
  Mace:
was that a Ghostbusters reference?
 Lor:
was it? I missed it
 Mace:
I think Dean called Sammy Dr Venkman
 Lor:
aaaah
omg the Avril Lavigne poster
 Mace:
HAHAHAHA I was just about to type that exact thing
 Lor:
LOL
 Mace:
I love all the little things that date these early episodes, especially the clothes - those nearly-too-little blazers and the low ride chinos
 Lor:
YES
it's like getting smacked in the face with college and masters degree school
 Mace:
Ha!
 Mace:
the first mention of salt shells!
 Lor:
YES
 Lor:
"he had the gun" DEAN
 Mace:
HAHAHA
 Lor:
aaaah, nope nope nope behind the couch behind the cooooouch
 Mace:
oof yeah, this is very ew
 Lor:
this is one of those bits that scared the BEJESUS out of me and made me sleep with lights on when I was an impressionable, tiny 25-year-old
 Mace:
Ha! I'm okay unless it's a haunted house
"well you look like a dumbass pledge"
DEAN WINCHESTER
 Lor:
SNORK
and Dean is Matlock? Dean is a white-haired old man?
 Mace:
OMG DEAN stop thinking about naked pillow fights and FOCUS
 Lor:
lolololol Dean, pay attention, goober
 Mace:
he really REALLY doesn't have a clear idea of what college is like
 Lor:
nope
lol, falling in through the window
this sneaking around and ducking behind things makes them look so tiny
 Mace:
well, Dean at least. Sam looks like a Moose trying to hide behind a pencil
 Lor:
HAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
 Mace:
omg their separate views of college I LOVE IT
 Lor:
YES
and Sam's little nod when Dean describes what he thinks it was like for Sam
 Mace:
YES
 Lor:
omg his little pout
 Mace:
omg Dean's disappointment
 Mace:
YES
 Lor:
"next time I get to watch the cute girl's house"
ooo, one of my most favorite shots is coming up
 Mace:
ooooo
yes, it's always a great idea to go out and talk to the dude you barely know and seems to be stalking you outside your house
 Lor:
RIGHT?
aaaww, Sammy. so adorable
 Mace:
but yes he is adorable
 Lor:
I mean, SHE doesn't know he's sweet and adorable
 Mace:
(I think she has an inkling about his adorableness)
ope there it is, yeah?
 Lor:
YES
 Mace:
the match?
 Lor:
Dean holding the match
LOVE IT
 Mace:
YES
 Lor:
oh gross, preacher dad
I forgot about that piece of it
 Mace:
omg Sam's face is very "um I have no idea how to deal with this information"
"AM UNCOMFORTABLE"
 Lor:
yeah
 Mace:
Ooooh, yeah, she clearly is aware of the Sam Cuteness
 Lor:
YEP
still probably not the swiftest move
 Mace:
what, you mean, "my boyfriend and roommate were just killed, let's snog" isn't smooth?
 Lor:
LOLOLOL
I'm also just amused that she's all "gonna go talk to the strange boy stalking my house" and then it turns out he in fact has a bag full of guns at his feet
 Mace:
HAHAHAHA YES
omg Dean's goofy smile
 Lor:
YES
 Mace:
"HEY, BROTHER"
 Lor:
"hey, brother!"
 Mace:
my god these boys are pretty
Lor:
RIGHT?
 Mace:
I should be listening to their explication but somehow I'm... distracted
 Lor:
naaah
eeeee, talking at the same time
 Mace:
PEN CAP
 Mace:
Ha!
 Lor:
YAAAAAS
and the RING
 Mace:
YES
 Lor:
sigh
I'm gonna need them to go back and do some more filming and give me more shots of Dean lounging with his feet up and a book on his lap
 Mace:
Ha!
avenging angels, eh?
 Lor:
oooo, avenging angels
 Mace:
Interesting
 Lor:
LOL
poor Sam. like, how do I comfort this girl when she's RIGHT?
 Mace:
YES
Mace:
Dean's over-the-shoulder look
 Lor:
YES
the way they SHOOT these. and the LINES of the shots
 Mace:
Yeah
 Lor:
"oh, don't worry, we're leaving town" poor boys
 Mace:
Yep
 Lor:
always with the "get out of town"
 Mace:
sing off key Ooooouutsiiiiiiderrrrrs*
 Lor:
YES
"we could stay"
 Mace:
Dean's willing to stay for Sammy though
so sweet
 Lor:
YES
 Mace:
(I think he knows it's a safe offer, though)
 Lor:
(yeah)
(kind of putting the nail in the idea from the previous ep with the whole "you can't have friends" thing. Sam's learned it now)

How can you be overloaded in an exoskeleton? And here I thought my "carry at least 1000 rounds, just in case" was overkill
The weight limit while you're in an exoskeleton is 80 kg as the default, iirc. The exo (without upgrades) is 20 kg. You can upgrade it so it can carry 90 kg max and be 10 kg lighter, so you gain 20 kg. I'm playing the Call of Chernobyl mod, where the point where you're too overloaded to move is 20 kg above max weight capacity. That gives us 110 kg as the absolute maximum (I'm not gonna bring gravity artifacts into this, cause that's yet another story).
Now, I'm the type of person that LOVES to hoard stuff in case it comes handy or i can sell it, so i end up having several kilos of artefacts and mutant body parts, as well as several weapons. The artifacts and body parts aren't that heavy, definitely not more than 20 kg, but still.
The real problem are weapons and ammo. Aside from the obvious assault rifle (with a grenade launcher, scopes and a silencer) and silenced pistol combo, i also love to carry a shotgun and a sniper rifle (just in case, obv). The ammo is always the issue: more than a thousand regular rounds for the assault rifle, couple hundred of armor-piercing, another couple hundred for the pistol (both normal and armor-piercing), yet another couple hundred for the shotgun (shot and slugs) and at least a hundred for the sniper rifle. That usually adds up to more than 100 kg, so not great.
Now, I'm talking about the exoskeleton, so you have to be on a relatively advanced level, meaning better drops, more enemies, and better stashes. During my current playthrough, i actually don't have a lot of ammo or other stuff, but I'm still overloaded. Why? I found a military combat suit. Very sturdy, and valuable. I already had very decent Freedom armor, but hey, some extra rubles. I also picked up a PKM for some reason. Did i need it? No. Am I gonna keep it? Yeah. Am I gonna use it? No.
And it's just. The hoarding. I have at least 10 of every type of medkit, a couple of artifact detectors, despite the fact i already own the best possible one. I have 4 fucking sets of Basic Tools™ which is cool if I could actually give them to some technicians, and i already gave pretty much every single repair guy I met the fucking basic tools. Several snork feet. Controller's brain. Over 20 grenades. Sewing kit. Anti-personnel mine. Sleeping bag. Tons of weird medicine that i probably looted from corpses along the way. It just keeps piling and piling.
But can't you store the items somewhere? Sure you can. I have a stash in Yanov. Except it's on the other fucking end of the CEZ and walking there takes ages.
Yeah, walking. You can't run in an exo. At all. Unless you're willing to find all 3 sets of tools, give them to a technician, and spend a shitload of money for the guy to upgrade the exo for you. Or you can visit the forester, not give him any tools, as he already has all he needs, and spend 5 times as fucking much. I could loot half the zone and probably still couldn't pay for a full upgrade by the forester.
And that wouldn't be so bad from an outsider's perspective, but people who played stalker know that walking from one end of the game's world to the other is so. Fucking. LONG. Not only do you have load points between the two ends, the maps are big and dangerous, and you pretty much constantly have to take detours to avoid anomalies, hostile factions or dangerous mutants. And autosaves are made only when you pass from one map to another, so you can imagine how I feel when i got a couple nice artifacts and suddenly some stray zombie creeps up behind me and shoots me with an assault rifle at point blank.
Good LORD I went off on a rant.
I just really love stalker and could talk for hours about it so yeah. Forgive me.
