So all of my bigger fics tend not to have mega angsty endings, but there's that one ficlet I wrote about the twins and hair dye that is just angst city

One guy once got big mad about starblaster lanes because he thought the setting was stupid and that John hunger (who was a throwaway, nonnamed character in the fic) was ooc and that the twins were too mean. like, buddy I don't think we listened to the same podcast, they can be little shits

As of RHAPAW, I do! it's not like, my most favorite thing to write (not because I don't like it, I just don't think I'm super good at it)

no, but when I was in junior high I had a grand plan for this like. mega cross over fic that involved characters from Hannibal, welcome to night vale, doctor who, supernatural, h*rry p*tter, and also sherlock. the plot was nonexistent but I remember that Hannibal was going to be like. the new professor at the private school everyone attended together

yes and no? so I have like. a fic in progress with larissa that I don't think either of us have touched in months, and then Hali and I have put Something Bigger Than The Sky on indefinite hiatus. but also so much of my process just involves talking back and forth for hours so they usually feel pretty collaborative by the end

like. It’s blupjeans it Has to be blupjeans. I was really into Amy and rory pond when I was younger and that just primed me for blupjeans

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

so I dont necessarily like assuming I won't finish a fic ever but the ones that are lowest on my priority are the warlock taakitz thing and then my resurrection roadtrip (simply because I Know that one will be big and it feels daunting)

I think I'm good at getting into a character's head and writing a truthful internal monologue and good dialogue.

actually moving the damn plot along and pacing

I've never done it because I know one (1) language but I think it's neat when other people do it!!

Mario and Sonic:

People who pit these two against each other are WRONG. They both regularly meet up for the Olympics and they're great friends. Mario and Sonic probably get competitive when facing each other in sports but would definitely compliment each other afterwards and then go and get chilli dogs and spaghetti or something. They would bond over suggesting platforming tequiques to each other (where do you think Mario got his rolling ability from?), and they probably have a group chat with the other characters where they all talk about their adventures!

Tim Stoker, Lup, and Taako:

I have so many thoughts built up from drafting a TMA + TAZ crossover fic which I will hopefully one day post, specifically season three of TMA and the Stolen Century arc of Balance (and this is going to be incomprehensible if you haven't listened to both podcasts, sorry op). I just feel like both of the twins would get along with Tim so well on a base level, but especially a combination of the traumatized and depressed Tim of season three and the post-Legato deep into the cycles Lup and Taako of the Stolen Century arc. In my AU the TMA world is just one of the many that the Starblaster crew encountered during the century. As far as Lup goes, I feel like she would be able to connect with Tim's grief over Danny and Sasha (but especially Danny) and help him find a way to get revenge against the Circus that doesn't end in his death. Because of the mechanics of the cycles Lup's probably lost Taako early in a year at least once or twice, so she knows the grief of losing a brother, and whether you see Tim and Sasha's relationship as romantic or platonic (I personally headcanon them as a QPR but that's neither here nor there) she's got experience with that sort of grief as well through Barry and the rest of the crew. More than that, she has experience finding perspective and reasons to keep living beyond that loss and beyond the need to avenge it that Tim desperately needs. Above all, though, Tim really needed someone in his corner during season three to side with him about how utterly fucked and unfair the entire situation with the Archives and the Unknowing and help him figure out a solution to work towards, and Lup, being the magical powerhouse that she is, would be absolutely delighted to help him torch the Circus to the ground from a safe distance. On the Taako side of the equation, I feel like Taako's characterization during Stolen Century is simultaneously a good mirror and a good opposite to Tim in terms of their attitudes versus their circumstances. On the one hand both of them theoretically share the motivation of fighting to save the world for the people they care about, only Taako has already lost his home world to the Hunger and Tim has already lost his two most important people to the Stranger. On the other hand you have Tim's whole "you're the only one I can trust is still you" dealio with Jon from MAG 114 and Taako's "everyone aside from the six of you are dust" speech from the last part of Stolen Century, both of them clinging to people they feel they can trust in response to growing despair. While Lup would help channel Tim's anger into something productive and cathartic, Taako would help by just letting him sit with his feelings for a bit, not pressuring him to get over it or rush into forgiveness. And finally from Tim's perspective, I feel like it would be such a comfort to him to have the support of two powerful people who feel just as strongly about the situation as he does. Lup is an immensely powerful evocation wizard and Taako is a talented and skilled transmutation wizard, both of them are incredibly intelligent scientists and arcane scholars in their own right, and both of them are used to dealing with end of the world level threats on the regular. Knowing that both of them are on his side and are actively working with him to fix a situation he's otherwise felt utterly powerless within for a long time would be such an emotional thing for him. On top of all that, beyond just helping take down the Unknowing and deal with his grief, Lup and Taako are two fantastically funny and goof-loving personalities who could help bring out more of the old playfulness and lightheartedness that Tim had before things got so bad just by interacting with him. I adore The Magnus Archives! It was actual a pandemic podcast for me. I got into it during the beginning of spring I wanna say, a little bit after I finished Homestuck actually. I kept seeing posts on tumblr about it since I think it was hitting the final season during then, and there were 2 Specific Posts, both crossovers with TAZ, that got me interested in it. I listened to it every day after work trying to get me to take daily walks so I wouldn’t feel so cooped up, and I even got to listen to it during work (perks of working remotely). Sometimes I even just go to sleep listening to it, it was soothing in it’s own way.

The Magnus Archives is absolutely a top tier podcast. I love everything about it. I love anthology series and stories, always have, so it just spoke to me. The deep and smooth voice of Jon Sims, and his range in voice acting is just so good! I love how it builds and keeps building and the little details were all around to figure out what the specific Fear entity is, and how it relates to a much larger plot. Normally shows sort of lose my interest if they start to completely focus on a larger storyline and lose that monster-of-the-week style they had initially, but TMA just has a brilliant balance between the two. I get my statement, the statement gives hints to the larger story, and we hear the talk and discussion of the nonsense around recording the statement. Best outcome all the way around.

Jesus I literally can just go off about it there really is nothing that I won’t talk about for The Magnus Archives. I clearly remember listening to Episode 7: The Piper while working and it changing my opinion of it being a Good Podcast to being a Great Podcast. I found the episodes about Micheal Crew and the Episode 19/20 two parter to be pretty boring. I discovered I got a new fear of Cave Diving from Lost Johns Cave, and specifically the ones dealing with Space freak me the hell out 100%. I remember that listening to Episode 25: Growing Dark trying to fall to sleep actually got to me, and I had to pause it to finish in the morning. I love the Michael (the Spiral man lol) as my favorite monster. And I actually love the Jared episodes dealing with The BoneTurner’s Tale. Elias sucks ass. Love Martin and Tim. I actually didn’t catch that Sasha’s voice changed going into Season 2. The Jorgen Leitner book episodes are a hit or miss to me. Depends on the book.

I’ve actually been writing some TMA fanfiction on the side. The one TAZ/TMA crossover post of the Starblaster Crew as Avatars inspired me actually write it. HERE’s the link if you’re interested. I’ve also donated to The Magnus Protocol kickstarter as one of the higher ranking tiers, so I’m going to get an episode dedicated to me however that works. I’ve talked to my friend and I think if I was an Avatar it would be for either The Spiral or The End.

Seriously, you can just deadass give me an episode and I can go off about it. It’s just so good.

The only thing is, I do know spoilers and endgame (roughly) for the end of the series, but I’ve never actually finished listening to the series. I’ve only gone up to part way in Season 4. I have a, how you say, weird thing about finishing things sometimes. Would sort of stopped listening in the middle of things, got distracted by other things/hobbies, then just picked it back up again like a few months ago. So I have like, 3 waves of listening to it if that makes sense?

First Wave was during Pandemic where I got up to the beginning of Season 4, maybe like 10 episodes into Season 4, somewhere like that. Second Wave to intently listen was when I just listened specifically the statements and only the statements. Like the outside story is great, but sometimes I just wanna get the anthology part of the series ya know? Got up to Season 3, but I definitely skip around them to the good stuff lol. Then it’s the Third Wave which is my Journal Wave, because to keep track of all the small details I’ve been writing each episode in a journal to pick up the clues and hints of each episode and how they connect. Really it was just to focus on key words and phrases to figure out what entities were tied to each episode. I’ve actually just got well into Season 2 of my Journal Wave listen, just started listening to Ep 48 as of this morning.

I finally got my friend to listen to TMA and now she’s gonna finish the series well before me lol, oh well. Tho I think we are gonna lowkey start a Magnus Archives Book Club, so that’s going to be fun.

So yeah, I’m pretty obsessed with The Magnus Archives, I think it’s a brilliant source of stories and narration, where it can be enjoyed singularly or as a whole. I 100% recommend it to anyone I can, and absolutely one of my favorite bouts of horror. Feel free to ask me anything about it, tho keep in mind that I’m not yet finished with Season 4 as a heads up.

i do think I’ve said this before but taz botw crossover au where the ipre lands on hyrule at some point during the stolen century. the plot is the birds spend an entire year trying to convince purah to give them the light because she WILL not hand it over. they have to resort to siege warfare because she locks them out of her house and sets link on them as defense. taako gets distracted setting up his OWN defenses bc link keeps trying to get into the starblaster’s kitchen and taako has to chase him out with a spatula

Concept: a Stolen Century/Death Note crossover where Light decides to kill the crew of the Starblaster (the reason why doesn’t matter.  Maybe he thinks they’ll identify him.  Maybe they admitted to all the murders they do.  Maybe he’s scared of elves.  The point is he wants them dead).

He thinks it’ll be super easy after he offs Magnus “I can and will introduce myself to everyone I meet with my full name and life story” Burnsides.  They don’t even seem to suspect foul play!

Then he looks into the other six.

“Barry Bluejeans” could not more obviously be a pseudonym.  Light doesn’t even bother trying to write it in the death note.  The twins give different improvised joke surnames to anyone who asks, and the answers never agree with each other.  There is no record of Lucretia’s surname anywhere on the planet.  Davenport, as a gnome, has about six different names that he doesn’t use anymore, but also “Captain” is actually a part of his name as far as the death note is concerned and Light has no idea.  He thinks he’s on to something when he writes the name “Merle Hitower” but is thwarted by Merle’s terrible memory.

Light spends the year losing his mind (more so than usual).  The birds are doing this completely unintentionally.  At no point do they realize he has it out for them.

Wendell is a S.H.I.E.L.D. trained operative with further training in combat from Captain America and who has personally saved the whole Universe all by himself at least 3 times (in Quasar #25, Quasar #50 and the Starblast crossover).

He’s not good enough for them. It’s all about this terrible character who stole his name, his powers and his place in the Marvel Universe and everything else about her was stolen from the Phyla-Vell, the other Quasar.

I won’t be bothering keeping any of you updated about Quasar’s ongoing appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy. I have nothing positive to say about Al Ewing’s Guardians of the Galaxy or him as a writer and even less that that now.

Sad Balance/Graduation crossover where...

In the early years of their expeditions across time and planes, the team lands in this relatively safe looking world. Standard monsters, heroes abound, a love of accounting- everything seems pretty normal. They decide to scout for the light after watching it fall deep, deep into the wilderness, far from society and any living soul.

They split up into teams with Magnus and Merle heading straight for where they’ve triangulated it to be. And what they find at the end is exactly what they’re looking for, the light- but also something else that is now using the objective of their entire mission as a comfortable bed to sleep on.

The creature’s hair looks wildly grown out- due to the light’s magnificent power of growth, mushrooms can be seen sprouting from little spots on his head, breaking through the mess of mane. They rustle in their sleep, but does not awaken. Even after Magnus picks both of them up, and Merle begs to keep their sleepy little friend.

Flash forward to the Starblaster. With the light in their possession, the crew is free to spend the year as they please. It also allows them to figure out what to do with the little Firbolg friend Merle has decided to take care of (“What, I’m a nature guy! He’s all forest-y, I’m all save the trees kinda deal- look he’s even got mushrooms in his hair!”).

The team decides to look for the little firbolg’s family or clan, as Barry mentioned they would probably have one. During the scouting and search, each member of the team gets a little bit closer with their new guest. Magnus watches as they pick up boulders like nothing and excitedly begins training exercises with them. A firbolg’s gotta get big and strong right?

Davenport catches them curiously trying to steer the ship. Thankfully it is fully anchored and parked, but he finds it secretly endearing that this creature was drawn to his passion. He gives the firbolg a captains hat and makes sound effects while the little one pretends to sail. Lup walks in on this and Davenport swears her to secrecy.

Speaking of Lup, the twins are having a bit of an argument over which type of ingredient to put in the crew’s dinner that night. As they passive aggressively insist on their own ingredients, their little guest simply (and accidentally) adds their own spin on it. A couple of spices, some thrown in garlic chunks. Taako nearly punts the child off the ship, but not before tasting the stew. It’s absolutely fucking delicious and the firbolg becomes honorary chef. Taako secretly loves when he can give the little one experimental snacks he’s developing. They love it as well.

Barry and the firbolg dont spend too much time together, with him locked away in those early years trying to study the light. Though there is an instance where Barry finds that he slept in the lab (again) after a long night of research and there appears to be something...fuzzy in his arms. Merle has apparently lost track of the little one who had subsequently wandered into the lab and into a sleeping Barry’s arms. They have a quiet understanding with one another.

Lucretia too is rather kept to herself, locked away in her room. Though because of their new friend needing to be documented, she watches them toddle around the ship, following where they go, studying and observing. That is until the firbolg trips and nearly falls down the stairs. Lucretia catches them, dropping her pen and notebook and holding the little one in her arms. For a moment she looks around, rather then nose to page, and she laughs.

But the most important member of IPRE has to be Merle. Merle who feeds the firbolg every day (it’s actually a bit of a group effort), who finds him clothes to wear and begins teaching him the alphabet. Merle who talks about Pan and his religion and there’s no pressure but you seem like a sort of nature guy y’know? Merle who talks about how everyone should just share and be kind and forget about possessions. Merle who just gives off love and care and joy.

Merle decides to call the firbolg, Baby.

And when the storm clouds gather, and the wind picks up, and the eyes are upon them- the crew knows it’s time to go. They pack up, say they’re goodbyes, and head off into the sky with Baby sleeping away in the little nest of leaves and moss that Merle made for them.

Now, in the early years...the IPRE crew weren’t aware of the rules like we are now. Griffin specifically said they have tried to take others with them, but in the end- they vanish. And when the crew enters the next cycle, they don’t find Baby on the moss. They don’t find their little firbolg running around, filling the ship with a exciting and warm presence. There is no one. And they mourn the loss of their Baby.

And far away, a firbolg without a name any longer sleeps, waking up in the morning to find no one. Gone. And with no explanation.

Years later, in a new life and on the first day of school- we find a large mass talking to two of their roommates. They can’t remember a name, they don’t prefer it actually. What are names really? But what they do know and share is something the firbolg doesn’t like to think about. Like a stone in their throat traveling down to settle at the bottom of their stomach. They tread lightly around the thoughts as they begin to explain to their new roommates-

“I...I have no clan. I have no clan.”
