thinking about how The Brothers Grimm (2005) is utterly unhinged (the cgi wtf) and unforgivably cursed (the horse- please no,, the gingerbread scene- make it stop) but also it has- very angry very autistic very gay coded glasses wearing jacob grimm (heath ledger) who also wears a Bonnet at one point.

The Brothers Grimm / Monica Bellucci as the Mirror Queen
I have only seen bits of this movie, but I was not the slightest bit surprised to find out it was done by Terry Gilliam! His touch is pretty unmistakeable. The costumes were designed by Gabriella Pescucci, who also designed The Borgias, among other things.
The Mirror Queen character is identified with a real queen from the fifth century, but her costume is pure fairytale. The deep red gown with the plunging neckline and metallic embroidery is spectacular, but it's the headdresses that really steal the show.
The golden headdress seems based on the fifteenth-century henin (see below), but taken to an extreme. That is what she wears when seen through the mirror, but when seen from "inside" the mirror, she wears a more sinister-looking headdress with horns. The bottom picture shows a much smaller tiara that she wears in a brief appearance during an earlier scene.

Title: The Brothers Grimm (2005)
Vote: 8/10
Beautiful movie both aesthetically and as a plot. I don't think many people have appreciated it and I don't understand why. The characters are well done, the special effects are good and there's a bit of fantasy, love and a couple of cheating brothers clumsily saving the day.

And if I told you the Brothers Grimm 2005 could have been a genuinely excellent film in both actors and concepts and the fact they fumbled it so hard haunts me fully.
