Q: What is trope bingo? A: Trope bingo is a fandom event in which you will receive a 5x5 bingo card with 24 tropes and one free space. Then you write/draw based on one or more tropes to fulfill those spaces!

Q: Sounds fun! How will this one work? A: Glad you asked! There will be a Google doc form to fill out upon sign up. The form will ask what tropes — SFW, NSFW, Dark — you want in order to curate a card you're comfortable with! You will then be contacted within 72 hours of submission with a bingo card based on your answers. The event will run for three rounds, the first participant to reach a bingo each round will receive a prize, and the first to get a "black-out" will receive a grand prize!

Q: Are there any requirements? A: yes but — very few. This event is intended to be low-stress and fun however, since there are prizes involved, there will be a few stipulations. They are as follows: fics must be minimum 2k in length, art must have a completed outline, and both must incorporate at least two tropes from your bingo card — that's it! If you want to write an ongoing fic/comic you're more than welcome to but the first chapter/comic page must be completed and uploaded to the designated submission places to count! You may create as many fics/art as you want incorporating as many tropes as you want, as long as each entry meets the basic requirements!

Q: What if I don't like my bingo card? A: No biggie! If your first card isn't inspiring any creativity you may swap it out once. The limit is there because each card must be created upon entry to accommodate everyone's likes/dislikes which could cause a lot of unnecessary work for the admins!

Q: Are sign-ups for additional cards allowed? A: In short — yes. At any point in the event, if you get a bingo by completing a row, column, or diagonal you may request another card without it counting as a swap. Keep in mind that all 25 spaces on a single bingo card must be fulfilled to count as a black-out and towards the black-out prize.

Q: You mentioned prizes, what are the prizes for getting bingo? For getting a black-out? A: Great question! First, the prizes are meant as a friendly incentive to get as many people to join and participate as possible! Someone getting bingo first doesn't mean the round is over, the round doesn't end until midnight PST on the designated final submission day! Here are the prizes.

Q: Will there be separate competitions for writers and artists? A: Absolutely! We want to be fair and give both writers and artists the opportunity to win fun prizes so there will be at least two winners, one writer and one artist, each round for three rounds and two black-out winners overall!

Q: How do I get a black-out? A: Unlike the rounds where there will be two winners guaranteed, the black out winners can be crowned at any point during the event. You can choose to use the same bingo card for all three rounds or request a new one, as long as all 25 spaces are fulfilled and each submission meets the minimum basic requirements the black-out will count.

Q: Can I Submit my work early? A: Yes, of course! You can send in your work any time before the specified deadline but it will not be shared before the posted dates , which you can find the schedule for here.

Q: Can I request an extension if I'm going to be late? A: No, but don't worry! If you aren't able to finish your work within the round there's always the next round!

So, many years ago I had this IDEA, one of many FiCoN related AUs where I was like “Hey fun daydream. Won’t ever happen cause it doesn’t fit ‘The Plan’.” Only now I’m like “Hey fun idea that’d bring me joy which is like the entire point” so now it’s gonna happen. 

You guys... I’m so excited for the Royalty AU. Like absurdly excited. I’m editing this Julex oneshot and drafting the Elara one first, but then... Royalty AU trope bingo slot is gonna be A RIDE. 

Here’s a little intro (complete with Pinterest inspiration photos of people I mostly have no clue who they are)...

Will - Bastard son of the king. Oldest. Serves in the royal guard by choice. Acknowledged by his father and was given a title, in spite of the fact that his father is originally from another kingdom. Starling is his stepmother’s family’s kingdom. Tremendous flirt. Most of the kingdom doesn’t take him too seriously, but he’s generally well-liked. Not seen as a threat to the throne at all, either in Starling or in the Verdant Isles (his father’s homeland). Surprised a lot of people when he claimed an infant little girl as his own, saying only that her mother died in labor. No one knows who that mother was, but there sure is a lot of speculation. 

Amelia - Princess of The Central Kingdoms. Promised by treaty before her birth to be married off to the heir of Starling. Takes her duties seriously. Absolutely not to be trifled with. Has secrets of her own. 

Princess Jules - Firstborn legitimate child to Queen Felicity of Starling and King Oliver of the Verdant Isles. Never met a rule she felt like following. Obsessed with finding who killed her lover, Jackson, the baker’s son. Constantly dragged back to the castle by the royal guards. More likely to hit a suitor than kiss him. Completely uninterested in marriage of any sort, much less something deemed appropriate. 

Alex- Captain of the Guard. If keeping his best friend Will safe doesn’t kill him, trying to rein in Princess Jules might. One way or another. Knows all of Will’s secrets. Really wants to know all of Princess Jules’ too. 

Princess Ellie - Twin of Prince Nate. The pair of them were born under the weight of prophecy. She’s been destined to lead their religious order since before she was born. Charming and bright eyed, she’s starting to wonder how much of her own life can be of her own making. 

Sara - Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Ellie. Longtime confidant and closest friend. Knows far more than she says. Always. Has her own agenda, which isn’t entirely of her own making. 

Prince Nate - Royal Heir. Carefully groomed for the crown from an early age. Puts his own desires a distant second to the needs of his family and kingdom. Has known he is destined for great things his entire life. Proper, polite, and endlessly appropriate. More than a little repressed. Can’t stop staring at the royal scribe’s daughter, but knows what his duty demands, and it’s not her. 

Penny - Daughter of the Royal Scribe. Training as her father’s apprentice. Frequent figure in court. More than a little enthralled by the crowned prince, but way too well trained in etiquette to allow the blurring of any boundaries. Sometimes stands near enough to Prince Nate that she can feel his body heat. Once they accidentally brushed hands. She still dreams about that all the time. 

Bethany - Will’s daughter. Treated like a princess even without the title. Absolutely doted on and Will’s top priority at all times. Penchant for mischief. Eternally asking questions about her mother, who she never met. Equal parts sweet and manipulative. Ironically, probably best suited to the throne, though she has no claim to it.

Artemis swallowed. 

"Don't move, Butler," he ordered. It wasn't the best thing to tell a bodyguard. Butler's hand twitched. Several more red dots appeared on the bodyguard's face and chest.

"I'd listen to the boy, if I was you," a voice said from the shadows. Artemis and Butler turned to the familiar woman, stepping into the dimly lit reading room. It was the librarian. Except whereas she had been a mousy bookworm with dull and baggy clothes in the afternoon, she now sported a bloodred figure-hugging suit.

Artemis cleared his throat. "There seems to be a misunderstanding."

"Really? To me, it looks like you tried to break into my library to steal a book."

Two more people joined in the reading room. A gangly man with wide-rimmed glasses pushed a boy forward, a shotgun pushed between his shoulder blades. Artemis' eyes widened when he recognised the boy.

"You?"

The boy looked around with wide eyes. 

"Where am I?"

The librarian stemmed her hands on her hips.

"Really?"

The boy shrugged. "Sleepwalker. It's a horrible condition and-"

"And a lie. Don't play games with me, Alex."

Alex stopped himself, paling at the familiar address. The librarian pushed her hands into the pockets of her tailor-made suit, her cool demeanour returning.

"Yes, I know your name. Knowledge is everything, my dear Alex. Something that would have kept you from getting into trouble."

She gave the man behind Alex a nod, turning to the stairs. 

"Follow me. You can try to flee, of course. In which case, Mr Iljitsch will shoot you in the back. He or the sharpshooters I have positioned throughout the library."

Artemis placed a hand on his bodyguard's arm.

"We'll follow. No need for violence."

The librarian looked over her shoulder and gave him a knowing smile.

"How lovely."

The librarian and her henchmen manoeuvred Alex, Artemis, and Butler to the back of a jeep, keeping them separated from the driver with a darkened screen. A one-way mirror, no doubt about it.

Butler wasn't too worried, despite their captors driving in circles and turning at seemingly every corner. They weren't trained. They hadn't even frisked him. He was still armed and had his personal tracker hidden inside the left sole of his shoe. Arno would easily track them down.

Eventually, they stopped. Butler had to keep himself from rolling his eyes as they were led through an empty warehouse. Such a cliche. He wondered if there would be chains hanging from the wall somewhere. 

Two giant steel doors at the end of the warehouse separated it from another smaller room. It was just as bare, save for three chairs and the hall's back wall, filled with rows and rows of computers, all sending and receiving a plethora of information. 

Butler sighed. The sound reverberated in the space like the sneeze of an elephant in a mausoleum. 

The librarian turned back with a frown.

"You find my lair ridiculous?"

Butler shrugged. "Cliche."

"Do you know what this is?" the librarian asked, pointing up.

Butler, as well as Alex and Artemis, followed her finger and looked at... 

"Books?" Butler asked.

The librarian's frown turned into a grin.

"Indeed. Suspended above your heads are, in fact, 2 tons of books. 1000 copies of War and Peace. Some heavy stuff, isn't it?"

She laughed at her own joke. Her henchmen joined in.

"Are you planning to kill us now?" Artemis asked once their laughter died down.

Butler groaned, but she only chuckled, wiping a tear from her eye.

"Is that what you villains usually do with your prisoners? How diabolical,” she said as she bent over a keyboard, sending out commands. "I need you to get off my back for a bit."

"Then why are we here?"

The librarian leaned against the console, crossing her arms over her maroon suit jacket.

"Your little shenanigans were impeding our progress. First, the almost brainwashing of the entire planet. Then the almost volcano eruption. Then the almost poisoning of the drinking water. You wannabe villains are truly busy."

Butler frowned. "Are you also villains?"

The librarian scoffed. "Geez, of course not. We're the Association of Librarians."

Butler knitted his eyebrows, but he couldn't place this Association. He had heard of the Association of Evil Actors, the Association of Evil Whisky Drinkers, even the Association of Evil Coffee Drinkers, but Librarians? That one was new. 

Regardless, they needed to distract the librarians for a little while longer until Arno arrived. All he needed to do was to ask a few questions to keep the librarian engaged. Standard procedure.

"Is the Association of Librarians part of the Evil Leprechaun Coven?"

The librarian glared, but before she could answer, a white cat sprinted into the room. Following her was Opal Koboi. And following her, albeit slower, was Jon.

"No, Diamond!" Opal screamed, as the cat jumped into the arms of the librarian. "Don't run to the evil woman!"

"Diamond?" The librarian made a disapproving sound and stroked the cat's fur. "Her name is Mata Hari,” she said and noticing the understanding dawning on Artemis' face, the corners of her mouth turned up. "Much better suited, wouldn't you say?"

Her henchmen pointed their weapons at the newly arrived villains, who had the decency to look ashamed.

"We have run out of chairs, but please make yourself at home," the librarian said.

"What's your plan, then?" Butler asked through gritted teeth. "World domination?"

"I'd rather call it a new world order."

Alex snorted.

"Let me guess. Everybody has to bow to you, the new Queen of the World?"

The woman scoffed. "I'm not interested in power, boy. I want the world to pick up books again, rather than wasting their time on social media. I want to educate the world."

Now Alex laughed. "You want to get rid of social media? How?"

The librarian straightened with a sigh.

"Do you like your social media, Alex? Friendstagram, Chirper, ClickClack? Do you surf the internet?"

Alex nodded cautiously.

"What would you do to access these platforms? To open the internet?"

Alex didn't answer, and the librarian turned towards the screens again. "Launch the program, Mr Foaly."

Artemis chuckled. "I see."

Butler lifted an eyebrow. "You do?"

"It's actually quite clever, although not very diabolical."

The librarian inclined her head. "That's why we are the Association of Librarians. Note the missing Evils in the name?”

Alex groaned. "Can somebody please tell me what the plan is?"

"As soon as the program has launched,” the woman explained with a glint in her eyes, "everybody who wants to go online has to solve questions. Anything from General Knowledge to Quantum Physics. If you and your friends want to spend your time watching silly dance challenges or, even worse, compete in them, you'll have to study first. Quite ingenious, if you think about it."

Butler blinked. "That's it?"

Artemis shook his head. "I told you. Not very diabolical. Your plan has a major flaw, though. I know the answer to any question you could ever ask me."

"Who directed Some Like it Hot?"

Artemis opened his mouth. And closed it again. The librarian smirked. She tapped the side of her head.

"Knowledge."

Butler shook his head. "And who decides the type of questions?"

"I'll choose them depending on progression tests as well as the history of consulted books and learning materials."

"Isn't that a violation of my privacy?" Butler asked.

"Looks to me like you are not not evil," Alex chimed in.

The librarian shrugged. "Perhaps I'm not. A good leader sometimes has to utilise force if it's for the good of the people."

"Machiavelli?" Artemis asked. The librarian beamed.

"Very good, Artemis. Keep it up, maybe you can join the Association."

"So, what will happen to us?"

The librarian crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Once we have launched, you can go. Now, if you'll excuse me. I have to do a speech.”

She was almost out of the room when she turned around once more.

"Oh, and one more thing."

She gave Butler an almost apologetic look. "I really didn't want to do this, but it was necessary."

Welcome to ONEUS Fic Events' very first Trope Bingo!

The goal of this trope bingo to get some new fics into the Ao3/tumblr/twitter tags and get to highlight TOMOON's creativity. If you would like to join, please fill out the form below.

All fics will be both featured in all or whichever of the following you choose: the Ao3 collection, oneusficevents.tumblr.com, and/or twitter.com/oneusficevents. The bingo is just for fun, so you may do as many or few of the tiles as you wish. No pressure to complete the bingo!

This bingo will be a 4x4 square, with each tile representing a common trope in media/fanfiction. Anyone who reaches bingo will get a special mention on twitter/tumblr after the event closes, but all works will be featured on your preferred sites regardless of how many you choose to complete.

The only rules are the following:

We will not include any fics with the following content on either the blog or the collection: Rape/Noncon/Dubcon, Incest, Underage Smut

Every Ao3 fic MUST be properly tagged/Every post MUST contain warnings. This includes all content and trigger warnings, even if they spoil the fic. This is for the safety of everyone reading your fics.

If you are a minor, please refrain from writing explicit sexual content.

Please be kind to your fellow writers. TOMOON have very diverse backgrounds and life experiences, and we want to welcome everyone into these events.

I am once again here to ask for all you lovely people’s help! I signed up for the Trope Bingo over on the fanfiction subreddit once again because I have zero impulse control and once again am having trouble coming up with anything despite LOVING the prompts I’ve been given this time around.

As before, the prompts are all from TVTropes. I’m eyeing G down pretty dang hard (but will HAPPILY take suggestions for any of the squares). I’ve already got the idea for Despair Event Horizon (it’s gonna HURT, y’all), but like arranged marriage? Fake relationship? I’ve written them before, a couple of times, so I’m completely blanking on how to write them again in a different way.

Same rules as last time, too. They can be combined as much or as little as we want, so if you think of anything that’ll fit a couple, I’d love to hear it!

I’m really hoping to manage a bingo, though it’s all right if I don’t manage. Writing has been a bit of a struggle recently, haha. But it’d definitely be easier to get somewhere with somewhere to start, right?

Would LOVE your Steve-centric, Stranger Things ideas (canon universe or AU). Stoncy, Stonathan, and Stancy are ALWAYS welcome, as is general fic (particularly Steve & Dustin, but I’m happy to write him with any of them, really). Still really feeling the angst, but I’m not gonna say no to some fluffy prompts if you’ve got ‘em.

I’m also gonna tag a different fandom/ship or two that I’ve written before, just in case, but I’m still very much in Stranger Things mode after season 4 (heck if i know why haha)
