KILLUA'S GODSPEED A short clip from HUNTER X HUNTER (2011) One of the best #shounen I have ever seen. It was remade in 2011 after the 1999 series was canned. It's from Yoshihiro Togashi, the same creator as #YuYuHakusho, another one of my favs. There are actually a lot similarities between the two shows yet YYH feels kinda like a preliminary. An entrée to the main course that is #HunterxHunter. At first glance #HxH may seem like your typical happy-go-lucky adventure but do not be mistaken. It gets very deep and very dark. The pacing and especially the character development is top notch. In particular the progress of the main protagonists #Gon and #Killua. The main antagonist in the Chimera Ant arc (the best imo) is one of the most deep, complex villains I have ever seen, challenging the gap between good and evil. Also, the themes are right up my alley. Auras, different abilities and classes, otherworldly occult type shit, it's bad ass! The characters have the ability to use a thing called #Nen, which is essentially their #aura. It's way deeper than I can discuss here. You can find an in-depth analysis about it on the internet or just watch the show if you are interested. To sum it up, every individual is born with 1 of 6 different auras which can be determined using Water Divination. A leaf is placed atop a glass of water. The result of one's aura coming into contact with the glass will determine their aura type If the volume of the water changes, the user is an Enhancer If the taste of the water changes, the user is a Transmuter If impurities appear in the water, the user is a Conjurer If the color of the water changes, the user is an Emitter If the leaf moves on the water's surface, the user is a Manipulator If a completely different change appears, the user is a Specialist The show doesn't overstay it's welcome. There are a couple of flashback eps earlier on in the series but the filler ends there. It won't take you a billion years to sit through like some other series either *cough* One Piece *cough* But yeah. Hunter x Hunter has become one of my favs. My only gripe is it ends with unanswered questions. I can only hope Togashi comes back from hiatus

Walkin' Large ft. Jeru the Damaja - When I Flow (1995) Some raw, neck-breaker shit! This album is CRIMINALLY slept on! Walkin' Large - Riverside Pictures. A must for any rap enthusiast. The production is awesome, man. All of the beats sound fresh and unique. Some of the tracks remind me of some of the music in the old Shin Megami Tensei games (yeah there's an obscure reference for ya). Jeru owning the track though with this verse. One of my favourite rappers. His lyrical content has a deepness that is so well stitched together. He often covers darker, historical and esoteric topics that many others do not, which I love. And also just shit that I think is cool like Mortal Kombat and Marvel comics. I mean the intro track on his debut album quotes Fist of the North Star. Now that's bad ass! I like DOOM and Wu-Tang for similar reasons. Jeru's flow and the beat, they were made for each other! It's so seemless. Like seriously! Goddamn! I can't help but bob to this. That's what I feel people love about the oldschool hip-hop. Plenty of great new stuff coming out, don't get me wrong. The production quality is definitely higher nowadays cause of technological advancements. However, the new stuff, it almost sounds too clean. It's like the difference between CD and Vinyl. Sure CD is technically higher quality but it's missing the pureness and the added soul that vinyl brings. At least the records that have been mastered the right way anyway. I miss that raw, oldschool sound. That's what hip-hop was built upon.
