"Show, don't tell," BUT THE FUN IS HOW YOU TELL IT.
It's all very well focusing on action and dialogue and not straight out saying exactly what's happening, but like... You can have so much fun telling things in a funny way. Think Good Omens, all of the Anne Shirley books, etc.
"Most people's first impression of Aziraphale was that he was gayer than a tree of monkies on nitrous oxide gas." Could not be told better.
If you wanna tell something not show it, JUST TELL IT. IT'S FUN. IT'S BEEN PROVEN TO WORK WELL. DON'T MISS OUT.
Just because everyone struggles doesn't mean your struggles are less valid, it just means you're not alone. Think of it like this, everyone gets hurt and injured and sick, but people still go to the doctor to deal with stuff, because just because it happens to everyone, doesn't mean you don't need help dealing with it.
One Direction: You're turning heads when you walk through the door
Me: *Spins wax statue head*
One Direction: Don't need make up, to cover up
Me: But makeup's fun!
One Direction: Being the way that you are is enough
One Direction: Everyone else in the room can see it
Me: There's someone else in my room?
One Direction: Everyone else but you
Me: Seriously where is this person
One Direction: Baby you light up my world like nobody else
Me: *Turns off lamp*
One Direction: The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
Me: *Has mullet*
I do actually like this song but I thought of most of this in PE today whilst not paying attention and I had to make it because I thought it was funny.
I've been thinking about how so many people don't like singing with their actual accent and instead put on an American one. It's like you don't want to sound like you, because you've seen American singers like Taylor Swift (I absolutely love her) be very popular. But why wouldn't you want people to hear YOUR voice? An accent is like a mark of where we come from, telling the story of our childhood and our past. Even when it fades with time when you don't live there anymore, it's still there in the way you pronounce your vowels and the softness at the edges of your words. Don't be ashamed to sound like you.
