11th birthday of 🌱 𝐆𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐡 and... another day of #supasawing 🍋 Combine these two occasions into one and You’ll get my riff on this green beast of a contemporary classic.⁣ ⁣ “𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬” 🇫🇷⁣ 3cl gin⁣ 8cl franciacorta ⁣ 1 elderflower flavored teabag ⁣ 10ml sugar syrup (1:1)⁣ 10ml 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐰𝐚⁣ bunch of basil leaves⁣ 4 drops of bergamot aromatic oil⁣ ⁣ 🛠Method: ⁣ •I pour everything into a cream syphon (apart from bergamot oil) ⁣ •then I drop in a couple of ice cubes inside ⁣ •I charge it with NO2 and shake⁣ •then I slowly release the gas from syphon (for the sake of making it look nice on the picture I poured it directly into the glass 😉) and double strain it into a coupette glass⁣ •last step is to drop the bergamot oil on top and voilà⁣ ⁣ 💡The idea behind it is to combine characteristics of two classic cocktails (Basil Smash🌱 and French 75🥂) into one giving it a twist by using moder cocktail making techniques.⁣ I’ve featured this cocktail a while ago already but it’s just working so good that I had to come back to it 😁 ⁣ In the end, the sparkling wine that I use comes out flat, but that helps us to save and re-use all the franciacorta that’s been open for too long to serve it to the guests in a classical form🍾 📸 @joeytimmann #bartourist #rawbartending #basilsmash #birthday #supasawa #cocktails #bartending #travel4cocktails #basil #felixbar #cocktailrecipes #cocktailblogger #zurich #visitzurich #drinks #bartenderz (at Felix) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzvig8novsS/?igshid=cl59pmyybzp8

It’s producer advertise it as the alternative for limes and lemons⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ✅It’s 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴:⁣⁣⁣ •1year shelf life after opening ⁣⁣⁣ •works magic if You want to create a clear, see through cocktail⁣⁣⁣ •it’s got the same PH like limes and lemons⁣⁣⁣ •it’s consistently sour⁣⁣⁣ •because it’s only sour and has no taste of lemon or lime it gives a lot of space for other ingredients to shine on your flavor palet⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ❎it 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 work:⁣⁣⁣ • with brown spirits (whisky,dark rum etc)⁣⁣⁣ • in classic versions of Daiquiri, Margaritas and other drinks where the flavor of limes and lemons are desirable ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 🤔Have You already used it at your bar? Long and personal post alert 🚨 ⁣⁣ 🗓2 years ago I’ve come to Zürich. Not knowing german language whatsoever , starting almost from the scratch, stepping behind the bar of the newly build Cinchona Bar, after working 12 hard years on various positions in bar industry (from bartender, through bar manager, flair bartender, consultant and brand ambassador). No wonder if You don’t speak the language (lol). Nobody knew me here and I knew nobody. It’s worked out pretty well in the end. Made me stronger, (a bit) more humble and even more stubborn.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🗓1 year ago...⁣⁣ I’ve reached the national podium of two major bartending competitions, and represented Switzerland in one of them in global finals in Mexico. I had no idea how to hold a camera 📷 and my social media profiles looked pathetic (You can still look it up, I haven’t deleted it on purpose) but I wanted to start working a bit towards social media marketing within my beloved industry.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🗓Today...⁣⁣ I’m holding the new release of the 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐞 with my pictures printed along with my reportage (in german 🙈) from “𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐫” event in Zurich. My Instagram profile has reached 𝟓.𝟔𝐤 followers and I’ve worked in collaboration with some serious brands on Swiss market both on events and digital marketing. Classic 🎩 or twisted 🌪 ? Short, yet still refreshing classic cocktail - Margarita 🍸 🎩 version (what I serve at the bar)I always go for 4cl tequila blanco (100% agave!) 2cl Cointreau 2cl lime juice salted rim 🛠 method: build in a shaker / shake with ice / double strain / garnish with salt rim 🌪my recent spontaneous (not overcomplicated) twist on this recipe calls for: 4cl tequila reposado (100% agave) 2cl Fassbind Himbeere 1.5cl Supasawa 3 frozen raspberries salted rim 🛠method: build in a shaker / blend all ingredients with a hand blender / add ice / shake / double strain ☝️explanation: one of my guests asked me for a fruity twist on Margarita and since the short season for raspberries’s bern at it’s best I quickly decided to go for this option. Use of Fassbind Himbeere (I love using Swiss local products) rounded up nicely these quite acidic fruits and gave the whole cocktail a serious raspberry punch. I wanted to focus mainly on this flavor and that’s why I went for Supasawa instead of lime juice. To introduce even more acidic feel relating to the classic recipe but omitting the lime flavor at the same time, which resulted in delicous fruity, raspberry relish shining like a dimond while dancing on my taste buds😁 Hope You enjoyed these two recipes. How do You use absinth in cocktails? I know that most of us use it in small quantities (dashes,drops or spray 💦) I took it as a challange to create a cocktail that will contain a full portion of it (4cl) and must say that I’m pretty proud of both my cocktail creation 🍸 and the picture 📸 of it I took 😁 🧪”Blue Fairy”: absinth (Clandestine) • lemon juice • orgeat syrup • pineapple milk Method🛠 all together is blended, and clarified with centrifuge. This process gives it an amazing smoothnes and brings all the freshness from absinth that blends amazingly with nutty notes of orgeat. A couple of snaps I took for the Bio cocktails bookled (obviously cropped by IG format🙄). This session got me thinking about a trend in cocktail bars some good 9-10 years back that was calling for a use of freshly pressed fruit/vegetable juices. They’ve been so delicious! 🤩 The only problem was a waste. You couldn’t predict the exact amount of cocktails sold per night and these juices tend to go bad pretty fast. Have You tried Tiki Lovers rum already? 🤔 Here’s what my #bartenderoftheweek Ravi Böhler says about it: 👃Nose: Mellow nose with hints of toasted fruits and a touch of banana 👅Taste: light, fruity mouthfeel wit a punch of honest alcohol volume 🎯Finish: a little lethery chewy,but complex with a lot of light fruits, peppery and floral notes 📝Review: For a tiki cocktail it definatly works as a superb base rum. It’s very punchy but still quite natural. In tiki drinks when you got a lot of different fruit juices and syrups sometimes the rum hides away, but not with this tiki lovers white rum. 🍸cocktails: I would recommend something like a “Missionary Downfall” or ”Pina Colada” with this rum.
