Hey my little demons, wow, it's been a while.
Remember when I said I was writing a sort of follow up to AotR? Well, this is it, the beginning. The first page.
I'm reblogging this from my art account, which is where I'll be posting the pages, as well as the link mentioned above. I hope some of you guys will come and show your support, because I'd love my little demons behind me <3
Tumblr media
The first page of my CBIC comic contribution. You can see more of the collective here, it’s updated every day usually, but for now only has Vic, Danny and my work on it.
Anyway, my comic is called Half Life, and if I’m honest, it’s essentially Destiel Fanfiction, only I’ve changed Dean to Sean and Cas to Chris. Because I’m clever like that. It’s set between season 8 and 9, because I wrote it then, originally with no knowledge of how the cliff hanger would be resolved, so it will be my take on that. Yup, anyway, I hope you guys enjoy and stick around to see it come to life!

Remember when I mentioned I was going to start writing a follow-up to this?
Well, what if I told you that it wasn't going to be a fanfiction any more, yet more of a fan... comic?
I decided to adapt the story I'd planned to an online comic which I'll be doing as part of my final major project for uni. It'll all be available to read online for free. So keep your eyes peeled for links on their way!

Hey, Just saying that Im reading your angel on the radio fic and wowowow, Im loving it!!!!!~
Such a nice message, awh, thank-youu~ I'm glad you're enjoying everything.
Unfortunately that crossover fic was never continued, I wrote another few chapters for it, but they were never published because I could never find the right direction. The only other SPN fanfiction I have online with any kind of momentum was a Hallucifer and Sam one. Whoops.
But honestly, thank you again. Always lovely to see a message like this

WOw i just finished this and it was amazing!!! I actually really liked the ending and thought it fit the story beautifully. I've spent the last hour talking to my friend about it and now she's going to read it. The scene where Cas read the fanfiction aloud had me desperately trying to hide my laughter at 2 in the morning. But seriously, you're an amazing writer and thank you so much for sharing your awesome work with us
I'm just going to say quickly SPOILERS^ABOVE for anyone lurking here who hasn't read this.
And yes, we'll now continue with regular programming.
You are absolutely so sweet. It always takes me by surprise when I get people messaging me about this, or getting AO3 or FF notifications in my emails.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I hope your friend does, too.
I'll hopefully be able to start writing my (unrelated, bar ship) follow-up to this soon. Which is miraculously actually planned out compared to how spur of the moment this was hahaha so maybe check back soon, if you're up for it, and I'll be able to post a link or two!
Thank you again for reading~

holy chuck, you have left my heart in a state of liquid mess upon my floor. wow. bravo. i cannot even. you are a seriously amazing writer and i'll have to agree with the other anon that you are indeed moffat, if not his spawn from hell(or heaven, idk) just. thank you for the emotional rollercoaster your story has put me through, you horrible, wonderful Angel. i give you my love
Aww man, okay. That is just seriously sweet.
But, also dangerous. How are you alive right now. I never intended to liquify your hearts D:
I should maybe mention that as of last night, I'm in the planning stages of a new destiel fic, another AU, and probably as long as this, but maybe a bit better written and more interesting. That's all I can really say right now, but I'll be updating here with more news when I have it.

Review-ey thing
Oh I've got something for you alright, Angel. Let me start with telling you that I loved your fanfic. Absolutely loved it. I am really impressed with the characters and their development and I love the idea of the whole radio friend thing.
The hug outside the police station made me melt down to a puddle of fangirly goo. And o my gooooood that scene with Sam in the last chapter *sniffles*.
I've got nothing but praise for you, Angel, really. The conversations between Angel and Demon became a comfort for me, like they were for Demon, and for Angel.
So, Angel, it's late tuesday evening (past midnight) and I really should get some sleep now.
Let us part ways with these final words:
I loved your fic, I think you're an amazing writer and a big ass thank you for writing this.

I really wish you would consider re writing this story. The beginning was so good. You're an amazing writer and I understand that the story kinda got away from you but it was really good. :) I just hope people haven't been putting you down because of the ending. because you are amazing
Nah, no one's been putting me down, I wouldn't really let stuff like that get to me anyway. It's my own fault that the story changed course so easily, I just didn't have a solid enough plan in mind, and as a result, I let myself get swayed by people's opinions on direction when I started uploading and people started reading.
I diverted from my own plan, and then I floated for a few chapters without any real direction and struggled to think of a good ending to tie it all up. But now I dislike a lot of AotR, I know it's pretty horribly written, my style is inconsistent, the pacing is pretty bad... and I don't need anyone to tell me that.
If I got the chance to rewrite it, hopefully after this pending uni deadline, and a serious rewatch of SPN to get back into the swing of things, I can produce something that I'm happy with, even if it's not quite as fan friendly.

i just read this whole fucking fanfic in a day, why must it end like that. not only that why did the whole thing have to be so heartbreaking and well written. i should not become so emotionally attached to fictional characters
That's always nice. Took me a year to write and a day for most of you to read.
Shh, no but seriously -- I'm glad you enjoyed (?) it. And I definitely don't think you're alone when it comes to emotional attachment to fictional characters, especially not here.
Surprisingly, Angel and Demon are still on my mind, which I find strange. I thought they'd have popped out by now because I finished the story, but I think because I never actually managed to write it the way I'd intended, they've stuck around. So I've been toying with the idea of, not a sequel, but a rewrite, perhaps. Something a little darker, the story I'd intended to write.
But maybe not.

Something about being accused of being Steven Moffat... either means I'm an asshole or I've reached the pinnacle of my "career", either way, it made me smile~
I just got my heart ripped out by this asshole
#if the ending was good why does it hurt so much? #are you steven moffat?

Translation Updates
So on top of the Russian Translation of Angel on the Radio (here), I've recently been approached by a Hungarian reader who is starting to translate for us. You can see their progress and read AotR here, if you're interested.

i just recently finished reading angel on the radio, and i gotta say, there are some great things about it and some not so great things. I felt like it had a great beginning and the overall idea of a 'radio relationship' is so neat; plus, i felt like their relationship progressed naturally. But, at the same time, i did feel like the story ended kinda flat. i was expecting there to be a great resolution to the issue of michael but.. i honestly felt like the ending was a little cheap :I
I'll be honest, I feel the same way.
I hadn't expected to get any measure of a following when I was writing this, so I altered a lot of the character dynamics and little plot twists along the way to keep people happy. And I know that was a silly thing to do now, because it meant by the time I was nearing the end, I was essentially winging it.
I had originally intended the angel/demon relationship to be the only one, but when there was this sudden interest in the fic, I was intimidated into thinking that it might not have enough substance and might become too boring.
I had no idea how to end things for weeks, I couldn't come up with a clean cut ending for the Michael arc; and on top of that I hated how diluted my writing style had become, and it got to a point where this almost became a chore, only kept on because of the fans sending such lovely messages and reviews, and I felt like I owed it to anyone who had taken the time to read it, to at least try to finish it. Which was pretty difficult when I had essentially switched fandom three quarters of the way through writing it.
I'll be the first to admit that this isn't a great piece of writing, it's certainly something I feel is well below par for my own expectations of what I think I'm capable of. But it's here, because people seem to like it, and after spending a year on it, I don't have the heart to take her down.
I'd like to say I might write an alternative version, use this as a rough draft, but I don't quite know if I'll ever have the time/motivation.
I'm sorry I disappointed you.

Reading “Angel on the Radio” …. I… I am so disappointed. I expected more from this. The premise is good - so good and has so much potential. I pretty much gave up once it made MIchael the obvious villain. this entire story could have had ‘Angel’ and ‘Demon’ live separate, masked in secrecy until a major event happened that forced the two to seek each other out.  THAT I would have liked. I might even write my own version one day. I’ll finish it but I don’t know if I’ll like it.
