Ben Headcanons Relating to Autism

I couldn’t come up for a silly title this time, but happy Autism Awareness Month!

- Like Tim, Ben was diagnosed fairly young, however their parents kind of tried to pretend it wasn’t true. They hoped they could sweep it under the rug and ignore it…obviously it didn’t work

- Ben’s parents never really tried to seek accommodations for them or tried to work with their autism. They continued to pretend like nothing was different, which led to Ben developing a lot of maladaptive behaviors.

- Their special interest is video games, duh, but it did expand into coding, computer engineering, and video game development.

- Ben is someone who gets overstimulated very easily hence why they are more or less a hermit. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, they will not leave the manor.

- Living in a manor with a lot of people is kind of hard on them. It’s loud, it feels crowded, there is always something going on, and it’s overwhelming. It’s something they have had to slowly grow accustomed as Jeff patiently nudged them into socializing more. It’s still a process, but they’re getting there and they’re kind of proud of the progress they have made.

- Ben has a strong case of a flat affect. They always sound bored, and they basically never smile or rarely express emotions in general. That is not to say they don’t feel emotions because they very much do. It’s just that expressing them is hard.

- Ben is on the opposite end of eye contact issues as Tim. While Tim will avoid is as much as possible, Ben will stare into your soul to an uncomfortable degree.

- Before they ascended, Ben had a lot of trouble socializing as a kid, which led to them heavily isolating themselves for most of their life. Really their only friend was their sister. Point is that their social skills aren’t really good because their default is avoiding interactions in general. It’s a habit that they’re trying really hard to shake off.

-However, things are completely different if someone is interacting with them through text. It’s like night and day. While Ben in person is blunt, sounds bored, and is finding every way to end a conversation as soon as possible; Ben through messages or even voice chats seems lively, funny, and someone who likes to have a chill time with their buddies.

Yep! For a general heads up, asking for headcanons are always welcome cause the art takes a while to make, and this helps keep the blog active.

General Hobo Heart Headcanons

- In this blog’s universe, he’s a reaper who’s been assigned the specific role of feeding a tree souls to keep it from releasing the spirits of some really dangerous entities

- He despises the job as he believes it messes with the whole point of an afterlife, which is an eternal rest (as long as you don’t end up in Hell). His souls don’t get that chance as they are literally being eaten.

- He’s the only character that isn’t part of any of the the main three groups (Slender’s Manor, Zalgo’s Troops, Sadie’s Shelter). He’s just a lone wolf doing his thing.

- Personality wise, he’s very work driven putting his duties above all else. Despite his big, buff, and scary appearance he’s actually a calm and gentle soul who’s very chivalrous in nature. He’s responsible and has a bit of a blunt attitude but generally speaking he’s a cool guy

- He’s dating both Brian and Zero, which is such a wild choice as they both feel like his opposite in every way (Zero especially), but he likes that about them. They were also a package deal, so if Heart wanted to date one he had to date the other. Fine by him cause he likes them both.

- Because of his partners, he has started to integrate himself in society a little more as they have expressed that it’s important to actually enjoy life as long as they have it. So far, his favorite modern thing are amusement parks both for the adrenaline high and the fact that the various accidents makes his job a tiny bit easier.

- He does have a human disguise, all reapers do, but he barely uses it unless he really has to.

- He hates shirts. They feel too constricting, and they feel a little off when he has that massive heart shaped hole in his chest.

- Any chance he gets, he makes sure to go out and take care of stray animals to keep them well fed and healthy.

The cute thing is, I think we might have seen Tim making eye contact with Toby before lol.

He’s actually really good at faking it lol. It’s less that he’s directly making eye contact with Toby and more that he get’s distracted by his pretty face.

It’s also not like Tim never makes eye contact. He does occasionally cause he’s been told it was the polite thing to do, and it’s ingrained in his brain now. He just really doesn’t like it, and it doesn’t last long. Toby’s eyes are pretty though. He likes looking at them sometimes.

….Tim headcanons related to autism okay let’s go

- He was diagnosed really young along with all the other diagnoses he received. He didn’t really care about the autism part though cause compared to the tall creature standing outside his window, autism was easily the least of his worries.

- Tim was nonverbal for a good few years of his life. Of course he eventually would start speaking, but his sentences were short and his voice was quiet. He honestly didn’t start talking talking until high school.

- He has three main special interests that do connect with one another to some degree. They are: film and tv, musicals, and music in general.

- He thinks he’s bad at masking, but he’s really not when he actually tries. The thing is that he calls it his “customer service persona” cause he worked various part time jobs in high school (kept getting fired cause bad luck), and the experiences did help him develop some social skills. He just has yet to realize that he can use those skills in scenarios outside of work and theatre.

- Has a lot of vocal stims mainly from mimicking noises he hears around him like the beep of a microwave or the dinging of a bell.

- He also has some more physical stims, but they’re less noticeable. He mainly fidgets with anything he has in his hand or taps his foot on the ground from time to time.

- Ironically is really bad at picking up sarcasm despite being a very sarcastic person himself.

- He gets frustrated in conversations sometimes cause he knows there are some things he just doesn’t get whether he missed a joke or takes a fleeting comment too seriously. It led to him not to participate much and let’s Brian do most of the talking.

- Doesn’t have a lot of sensory issues, but the one he does have can get pretty bad. He can not, for the life of him, stand loud or persistent noises. He always carries earplugs with him cause they help a lot and draw less attention than the headphones.

- Despises eye contact, literally don’t even try. It makes him so uncomfortable.

Hi! So I was wondering, the relationship chart has a black line between Tim and Jeff, is there any thing behind why they dislike each other so much?

I get happy when people acknowledge the chart for some reason. So it’s both about Toby as well as Jeff having an irrational fear that Slender’s mentoring (and fatherly love) has shifted over to focus on Tim instead of him. Lore unlocked: Jeff and Ben were the first to arrive in the manor so Jeff was used to having most of Slender’s attention on him.
