Hello! I would just like to say that I recently discovered the "infit" mspaint doodle you made a while back, and it has been a humongous hit with my friend group, to the point we send the image back and forth frequently when Infinite is a topic. (We may have also made it a discord emote in our tiny 6-person server, but just say the word and we can remove it ASAP!)

So I just wanted to say thank you for creating it, it brings immense joy!

DHDKDH glad..! Made that totally on a whim, glad its enjoyed. It was a shitpost that didnt take more than like 5 minutes max to make so i dont care at all if you use it as a meme/emoji/etc. Happy to bring joy, hope some of my real intentional art does so as well :)

...so. Tumblr's gone through a lot the past week or two, huh..?

With this new update, I...don't think I feel comfortable posting Ask Cueball to Tumblr anymore. I've already switched all the toggles to opt-out of them selling my work to the AI companies, but I also know from here that they've already compiled and sent the data, including things that should never have been sent like post drafts, private posts, and all the unanswered asks that you all have sent in. My work, and your work, is already in the hands of the AI companies, without our consent. And most of my work is old enough that Glaze didn't even exist yet, so of course there was no protection on it when the data was compiled. Plus, you can't Glaze text.

...I haven't decided where I'm moving yet. I'll let you all know once I figure it out, and I won't delete anything here until I've relocated, so you'll still be able to read the comic. But between the AI stuff and the recent public treatment of trans people on this site, I don't want to host my art here anymore, not like this. As of right now, I'm considering a Cohost and/or a Neocities site, and am looking out for other options as well. The Ask Cueball Discord is remaining active and you're always welcome to join (it's been pretty quiet since the blog's also been pretty quiet, but I am active on Discord all the time so if you show up I'll be there!) And while it's not Ask Cueball related, or a social site at all, I do have an ArtFight as well.

Sorry to give you guys an update like this, I know you'd rather be seeing some funny shape robots by now. Hope you all understand, and hopefully it won't be too long until we find a place better suited for us.

Hey. Artist that only has a phone or a simple computer. Did you know you can still Glaze your art??

While Glaze was initially computer-only, the team learned that many artists either have a computer not powerful enough to run glaze or don't have a computer at all. SO they've made WebGlaze!! (Read about it and get it here.) Basically you send over your art and they Glaze it over on their servers that are strong enough to do it for you. And yes, it's still free.

If you have a computer that runs the original Glaze program, it is highly recommended by the Glaze team that you continue to use it and not the website.

While the servers are very secure, it is still ideal to keep the unglazed art on your end only, and it will likely be faster on your own computer anyway since there's only your art being Glazed, unlike the servers which are glazing several people's at once. Currently I believe there is no web version of Nightshade, but they are working on adding it to WebGlaze last I heard. Check the Nightshade FAQ here for updates on that :)

Please feel free to reblog, I know there's a lot of artists out there without access to powerful CPUs and GPUs that would like to protect their art as well :)

Someone at tumblr/automattic asked whether requests to opt out of AI data sharing would be honored retroactively (which seems important, seeing as tumblr has apparently compiled the user data they're going to send *before* giving any kind of opt-out option) and Automattic's head of AI Andrew Spittle responded:

We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who's opted out since the last time we provided a list. I want this to be an ongoing process where we regularly advocate for past content to be excluded based on current preferences. We will ask that content be deleted and removed from any future training runs. I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point. I don't think they gain much overall by retaining it.

And I do not trust midjourney or openai in the slightest--their business models, by their own admission, depend on scraping art they don't have permission to use--so I do not believe that they will honor any requests to remove data already received when requests are made to remove it. So yeah. take that as you will.

i like the way you draw the shapebots! the mech designs for the JSaB au are really cool too, haven't been in that fandom for a while but maybe we'll get back into that eventually... you're a big fan of robots based on shapes, huh? can't blame you, i think about Orbot and Cubot so much

Hey thanks! Yeah, coincidentally its been shape robot after shape robot lately...but honestly I love robots in general! Before shapebots and my JSaB AU I was really big into Transformers so the robot fixations have been going on a loooong time lol. Always happy to find another shapebot fan out here! Sometimes we feel a little scarce since they don't get much attention compared to other Sonic characters haha. Hopefully I can get more shapebot art out soon, I do have things in the works!

Hi! OP here. This has suddenly gained a little bit of traction again, almost 3 whole years after I drew it. My most popular art I've ever done. I'd joke that it haunts me, but really I'm just thankful that it's not a meme like what 90% of one-hit-wonders for artists tend to be.

It's at 942 notes as of posting, so I decided fuck it - if you all make it reach 1,000 notes, I'll redraw it.

BUT

Here's the catch: if ANYONE spam-reblogs/spam-replies just to get us to the 1k mark, I will not count it. I'm sure it can be done without spamming with how many notes I got just today, so don't ruin it by spamming interactions. :)

I'm glad you like Kitten...! I love her a lot, but unfortunately I don't post much of her because honestly, her design is far from solid and I'd like to figure out how to draw her a little better first. Once I solidify her design a bit better though, we will have more Kitten art :)

(P.S. anyone wondering why I'm calling Kitten she when Blixer is a he is because corruption completely changes who you are. It just happened to also trans his gender in the process /silly)

Happy (belated) birthday to Orbot and Cubot!! Plus an Ergo and Tribot because I can. (This was meant to be posted yesterday but things got FAR too busy.)

I'll use this as a chance to announce that on Saturday, November 18th, aka Ergo's birthday, the next Ask Cueball post will be released!! I want to thank everyone for their patience and support, and I hope you all enjoy what's coming next!
