Here's another piece from the series I working on this week. I think this one is one of my favorites. I am just in a happy place right now coz I seem to really nail down my vision in my paintings. Sometimes I have something in mind but I am having a hard time translating it to actual output but this time everything is just right. I am hoping to keep this kind of energy longer because it's not everyday that I am feeling this.

I don't know what's with the yellows these days but they are my favorite colors as of the moment especially the combination of Indian Yellow with Green Gold or with a mix of Burnt Sienna to make them like Quinacridone Gold. I just feel that they are giving me such a happy feeling.

Peonies are one of the most requested flowers for me to paint. One handy brush that I use for my roses is the @silverbrushltd scrubber. It helps to take out pigments that I don't want anymore or to form some of the petals of the rose. Here are some @silverbrushltd brushes that I often use for watercolors & gouache works. They have different stiffness from Black Velvet, Golden Naturals to Red Sable. I use them for different purposes. The softest one is definitely the Black Velvet, I use this for initial washes, building up the shapes of the flowers. One of my favorite technique to do is wet on wet. I just love how soft my roses look like when I do this. Of course I used my favorite brush combo which are @silverbrushltd Black Velvet oval wash, Golden Naturals flat brush & the Red Sable round brush. For me I can easily achieve the technique with these brushes. I also love how I can make the colors intense with layering. In terms of watercolor painting, my favorite brushes to use are from @silverbrushltd Black Velvet oval wash partnered with either Renaissance round or the red sable round for detailing especially when I do tight paintings like this one. So why do I combine squirrel & sable brushes? Well we all know that the Black Velvets are combination of squirrel & synthetic filaments so the hair is soft & can carry loads of water or your color mixture. I need this kind of hair for the initial washes & layers then once I'm going into detail which I don't need much load I'm gonna use the sable one, it is stiffer than the squirrel one which is great for total control.
