#throwback to this fantastic, crazy and super fun 1 year (time flies!) wedding anniversary celebration last weekend in lockdown! 🥳🥰 Started off with a run together in amazing weather, then we ordered delicious food from one of our favourite locals @moonrestaurant346 (ordering takeaway is definitely one of my iso highlights rn), we dressed up and i had outfit changes in between dinner too (a benefit of lockdown and not being able to go anywhere), but... THE BEST part of the festivities would be @marcinaus actually pulling off a beautiful surprise right under my nose?! He really outdid himself - why am i even surprised he managed that though? I got shoved into the bedroom for a little while, then i stepped out to a stunning private dining room setting right in our apartment - perfect music, lights, candles, glassware placement, everything, and a space for our own dance floor too! We wined and dined, visited Womerah Ave's Homebar, danced the night / morning away - disco lights, unofficial and official wedding songs, experimental dance moves all included! 🎉 Definitely not how i envisioned our first celebration to be, and in lockdown (6 weeks and counting). Our official honeymoon trip, special dinner in a restaurant somewhere, or just a holiday really will have to be postponed, but that's okay cos we're still very blessed and we've got each other (maybe too much now 🤣). We had the best party of our lives last year 200419, but we definitely had the best party of our lives in lockdown this year - hangovers and all. 🤪 Thank you for everything kochanie, you remind me everyday but especially in this season that i definitely married my best friend. I love you forever and a day. 1 year (and a few days) after our wedding and i'm vacuuming up my own hair in my wedding outfit after another visit to @marcinaus' Barbershop in Darlinghurst! 🤪 No idea where to and when i'm ever gonna wear this outfit again so i'm busting it out now so i can say that i've used it more than once. Might just make it a daily affair to be doing housework in a gown. One of the highlights during this iso period would have to be this experience! Thank you so much Astrid and LP for inviting @marcinaus and i to be part of your new performative project "Distance Dining" in this season, and thank you for sharing this moment with us. It was really lovely catching up over a virtual dinner with the both of you this week. Marcin and i finally came out of our shells after weeks of not video calling or socialising with friends (apart from family)... so "dinner and drinks" over a video call, definitely a very big deal for us! 😅 Nice to know that we were your 30th dinner, and the first one that you actually got to eat and drink because we're in the same time zone! Thank you so much, we enjoyed and loved every bit of it, and we really appreciate it! Womerah Ave's Home Bar pop-up by @marcinaus had a soft launch yesterday. Super solid job kochanie. 💇‍♀️✂️ Okay this memory deserves to be up here for sure!!! 2nd and 3rd pic - haircut courtesy of @marcinaus, and i'm all dressed up (pants from @minormiracles.shop 🥳) even though i've got nowhere to go again but why not since i feel fabulous after a fresh haircut! Life in lockdown means a visit to Marcin's Barbershop in Darlinghurst. With my usual hairdresser @akiho_oda now cutting down on appointments due to the lockdown, i have no choice but to trust my husband (help Aki!). He's been convincing me for years now that he's capable of cutting my hair but it took a pandemic for me to trust him on this one! 😂 This Barbershop bribes you with drinks and also cleans you with an actual vacuum cleaner after. Every new customer gets a free trial haircut, subsequent appointments will be charged accordingly, but these days things like good bottles of wine are accepted as payment. Drop a DM to @marcinaus to book a slot. 😅 Thanks for making me feel like myself again kochanie, i must say you did a pretty good job. You have proven yourself to be a husband worth marrying - can cook, can clean, can cut hair and it means i can save a lot of money. 🤣 Next nails? Eyebrows? Happy Resurrection Sunday! Always a very meaningful day for me, a day for me to be thankful that i'm still standing, and still doing life, and now doing life with a partner in crime. If someone told me in 2013 when my heart was ripped out, that life today for me would look like this, i would've laughed in disbelief. “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." ❤ Easter this year was supposed to be set in Poland with the family but we're here in Sydney instead. We managed to take a walk in the sun for a while for some fresh air and explored a little park we never explored before, we dressed up even though we had nowhere to go just because! (i've been dressing up for fun especially on the weekend to keep sane) And then we went home to stay home again. Week 3 of isolation looks a little bit like this, and we've got about maybe 6 months or maybe less or maybe more of this to go - who knows! TOO SWEET @marcinaus!!! This man got home after an extremely quick essential zip out of the house with this pretty and flowery succulent while i was still behind the computer screen at work at home. Thank you for this sweet surprise! The little things really matter the most these days. Week 3 of iso / lockdown and we're getting used to this new normal, and then we're suddenly not getting used to it all over again. It is an up and down really, kinda resonates with the 5 stages of grieving to me. It is strange how in the midst of this forced silence, there is still so much noise. And that's probably a reminder for me to count my blessings - still blessed that we've got a roof over our heads to even be able to stay home and that we've got each other, still exercising, still keeping up with a routine, still connecting with family and friends digitally, i still have a job still getting the arts out there with a fantastic team, and the both of us we are still getting by in spite of financial / work / life-in-general stress - still blessed. We're not used to having so much time together, and we were worried initially that we would drive each other mental, but i think we've managed to work it out somehow. We give each other space, we automatically don't talk to each other for a few hours in the day and go about doing our own thing and then we reconvene. For what it's worth, I am very grateful that we have date night almost every night now after my 4 years+ in Sydney and having more time alone than anything else! To our friends and family in Singapore just starting lockdown or CIRCUIT BREAKER (Singapore's terminology), you can do this! We've been at it for a while now, and it's gonna be okay. We're okay. Plenty, PLENTY of changes to life but I feel extremely blessed that i'm doing life with @marcinaus even though it seems extremely daunting (job, finances, home, health, safety, livelihood - life). Found this handwritten message on a new tub of honey from him - I always look forward to a new tub of honey because of the surprise message 🍯, but this one this time, is especially important and special. ❤ Life as we knew it, and all the freedom we took for granted... all but just a memory now. Never ending changes and news every day, it is a tad bit difficult to keep up really but i've been trying to remind myself that I need to take one day at a time, and that I should allow myself to feel anything and everything because there is really no right or wrong. That light at the end of the tunnel seems pretty faint at the moment, but I know there has to be an exit route somehow (hopefully sooner rather than later). This is really the time for us to do our part together and take this shit seriously - stay the fuck home so we can flatten the curve. We can bloody do this. Sending plenty of virtual hugs and kisses to everyone hurting from the effects of the crisis. Life with COVID-19. Almost feels like war of our time (if i can be ignorant). In the next 48 hours, all non-essential businesses are forced to shut down in Australia. That's after the ever changing rules over the week such as all events above 100 pax cancelled and whatever else?! Jobs are at risk and more, we are all at risk. We are constantly waiting for updates and possible help from the government. What are the odds that we are in the hospitality and arts and entertainment industry - both hit hard from this crisis. Life is shutting down evidently but we are still hanging in there! We visited our favourite local Japanese restaurant for the "last" time till god knows when, with drinks of course (with the chef and staff in the restaurant), I quickly had my final haircut before god knows when too today (literally ran to @akiho_oda because PRIORITIES 🤣 - gotta deal with this situation in style still), did whatever grocery shopping we could today, exercised, watched plenty of tv and drowned in news, and now we're wondering if we might kill each other before COVID-19 attacks us for real first cos we're gonna see each other so much now with this self isolation and lockdown business! No travel for us both anytime soon for sure, we can only dream about our business class big travel plans for the year. Crazy, difficult and precarious times, but it is now when we have to come together and work together to overcome this madness. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel, there has to be. Wish we were holidaying together in Europe right now like back in 2018 when @marcinaus and I put you (and papa) on a plane for your 60th birthday! ❤ That was a really crazy and fun trip to say the least. 😂😅 It has been a precarious week... work, life, head, heart, all things ever changing, and an extra difficult week as well because of your health scare. (Not the most ideal getting updates on the other end of the line while elsewhere and not being able to do anything about it.) I suppose distance makes things harder than usual, and this covid-19 border closure and isolation situation adds another layer of unnecessary difficulty too.
