If I can ever recommend one thing to you, it is this:
I have several done years of RPing, and this has taken me to countless different forums and, if you are at all familiar with RP forums, let me tell you, they were the lowest of the low some six or seven years ago.
In one of these forums, a legendary tale happened, a tale that, if I can ever recommend one thing to you, it is this:
The Ballad of Edgardo.
A story that happened to an anonymous RPer years ago.
Anyone will be able to appreciate it (and trust me, you will), but if you are kinsmen or kinswomen to me, if you ever had to experience the shittiest of RP forums and their terrible userbases, particularly that one guy that does whatever he wants and is an asshole that clearly godmods but gets away with it because the actual mods don’t give a damn, you will find the beauty behind the ballad that much brighter.
Just trust me on this one. It’s not a particularly long read, either.
I hope you enjoy The Ballad of Edgardo

Assess clothing
You are wearing a simple light gray tunic, made of an rough material that you think is burlap.
Your bottoms however are far more intricate. They're made out of a far finer material, and are ornamented with a very fine pattern of different curved lines that twist in intersect with eachother in a way that perfectly contours the natural motion of your leg. These lines seems to stick with the image of your leg, even when imagining them with your minds eye.
Just as you start to get lost in the intricate patterns you hear footsteps.
A tall and thin figure walks towards you with an unnerving gate. It takes you a second to realise exactly what's so strange about it, the movement of the figure seems to follow a smooth arch, such that if you weren't looking at its legs, you would think it was floating.
At the first sign of this figure, you rodent companion gives you a wink and scuttles away.
The figure delicately places a gray tray containing even grayer food on the floor on the outside of the bars, it's places so that to reach the food you would need to stick your arm out as far as it can go.
You feel it smirk at you as it starts to walk away...

Politely introduce yourself to the rat, and inquire as to the provinence of your surroundings.
You politely introduce yourself to the rat, to which the rat gives you a look as if to say "I don't speaketh thy language. I am a rat. Behold i can tryeth to all speaketh thy tongue.
The rat squeaks
"All i can doth is communicate to thee with looks and glances."
Seeing that there is a language barrier between you and the rat. You try to "speak" with the same subtleness of expression.
The rats body betrays the delighted posture of a native who just witnessed their language being butchered, and shifts it's eyes around the room with deep black pupils.
"Nice to meeteth thee fair "sailor". The nook behind this mure is all i can recall. Thee did get hither about 6 meals ago, ere yond i can not telleth thy tail. Since the last prisoner in this cell did doth kicketh the bucket, i did feel the effects of a most wondrous famine, as such if 't be true thee giveth me a portion of thy meals, i shalt in exchange giveth thee me loyalty and valor
Wilt thee accept this contract of faith?"

I look around myself to check if there's anything in the dungeon and strain my ears in case I hear any talking. I try to remember how I got there.
You look around to assess your situation:
You seem to be in a cell, there are slightly rusted bars covering one wall. In the center of the wall is a small hatch, you guess for food and water.
The air is damp enough to hinder the lighting of matches, and a puddle has formed on the back corner of the cell.
In the other (raised) corner there is a small hole, the perfect size for a rat.
You look around with your ears:
The only things you can hear are the slow dripping of stalactites, the minute sounds of the rat, and your own growling stomach.
You try to remember how you found yourself in this situation, but you mind is only responding with images of spinach.
The rat is staring to look bored.

I would like to poke myself in he head to see why it’s hurting.
You try to poke yourself in the head to see where it's hurting, your hair has short sides and a long back. You can't feel any wounds on the outside of your head, instead it seems to be a throbbing pain in the top of the spinal chord, deeper than you can touch.
The rat is now looking at you inquisitively.

Approach the rat
Surprisingly the rat is still there after your attempted nap. As you approach it gives you a look as if to say:
"Valorous morrow to thee, sir, i in earnest did doth bethink thee did hath't starved, wouldn't beest the first time these floors did feel the light corse of a starved soul. How can i beest of assistance?"

I chose to fall back asleep.
You set your mind to falling back asleep, after all a prison with a floor this clean must be a figment of your imagination. Yet the combined factors of your mouth tasting like a Japanese bathhouse, and that you had probably been sleeping for the previous 72 hours means that you can't seem to evade consciousness.

lick the floor
You lick the floor, it tastes like limestone and bleach. The rat in the corner of the cell gives you a quick look as if to say:
"Coequal as a humble rat i feeleth a most wondrous amount of pity for thee, as ye art either so fill'd with pangs of hunger yond thee feeleth the needeth to englut the floor, or ye art foolish enow yond thee would doth this as the birds peck the did grind for worms"
