The no kill rule is not about Bruce just uwu not wanting to become a murderer it’s about knowing that no person is morally infallible and omniscient and you cannot be judge jury executioner and that you are allowed to keep this last bit of innocence that you do not have to live with the burden of someone else’s crime you shouldn’t have to give away a part of yourself just because someone else decides to commit a horrible crime it’s not about whether the Joker deserves death it’s about whether someone should bear the burden of becoming a murderer none of you fuckers know why the death penalty is bad

i'm seeing the tower of babel stuff again and you know what, every time i see a plotline about Batman having contingency plans for other people and them getting mad about it i genuinely think the only point where he really went wrong was (and this is where he always goes wrong let's be real) not telling anybody

beyond the fact that it would be so much easier to take down rogue superheroes using other superheroes, letting magic users take down magic users and speedsters taking down speedsters, (something he already does! he will and has called in Zatanna and Constantine for magic bs before there's a precedent for him relying on others if he has too) he has several legitimate reasons for wanting containment measures i.e. mind control: magic edition, and mind control: pheromone/drugs edition, and mind control: tech implant edition, and the classic evil alternate universe doppelganger/clone

he has every reason and motive in the book to slap the other heroes with and if he'd just had one goddamned discussion about it beforehand this wouldn't be a problem
