How things turned so bad so fast though? I mean it took got 7 seasons to get there and they run out of book material, the most beloved and successful adaptation ever is LOTR, every adaptation in the past years who haven't follow the source material have failed, who in their right mind would thought that s2 was a good idea? And then go with blood origin and whatever these elves were and then with the misunderstood rats and with everything we've heard from s3 spoilers. I mean what is Lauren thinking? I'd love a documentary someday. Anyway, time to move on.
The hubris to think you can outdo the source material and write a better story than the original author. It also reveals a concerning lack of respect for the lore and the characters they claim to love.
I understand that certain changes need to be made when adapting from page to screen due to the difference in formats, and that's okay. Not all changes are bad, and it's possible to take advantage of the opportunity to enhance the story and make it richer in certain ways. What should never be done is to stray away from the original work, altering characters' actions and motivations to the extent that they become unrecognizable. That's when you lose me.

I found season one to be fun once I stopped expecting it to be good. It was enough to get me to read the books.
Then season two happened, and they strayed so far from canon that I'm not even going to bother to watch season three. Sad fate for such a promising show.
Yup. The first season at least was promising. I mean, you could understand the deviations from canon and feel excited about what was to come, eager to see more. However, now the trust has been completely shattered, and they can boast all they want that this season is the most faithful, but who really believes them at this point?

Lol at your last ask. We really thought they would listen to him, didn't we?🤡 Lauren sure showed us 😭🤣
Lmao we were the whole circus back then. Honestly, I lost all hope after seeing how the second season turned out, and Lauren keeps proving me right every time she opens her mouth. Let's see what they come up with this season, but I'm not expecting much. A lot of things are ruined already.

I hope Henry Cavill will have a more active role in the storylines. Netflix just signed a new contract with him with a huge raise, they want him. All the best parts in s2 were his addition. Geralt/Ciri campfire conversation, roache's last scene, no Geralt/Triss romance. I hope he gets more involved in the other characters' stoory too. He is huge fan of Yenralt. He can push to fix it. Just 2-3 heart to heart conversations. Yen expressing her fears, Geralt telling her he knows about her past...
That went well.

Regarding your last ask: Yen and Ciris relationship needs lots of work to be fixed, time I don't think they have. And her relationship with Geralt too. What do you think will happen to them? The title of the last episode is really misleading to me
Lauren said on Twitter that we are going to see Yen and Ciri's relationship developing next season. They definitely need to work on that after what they did in season 2, not only to make up for the Melitele scenes we lost but also to fix all the trust issues they added. The family needs to be fixed before Thanedd, which we can expect to happen mid season 3.
Another problem with Thanedd in the show is that in the books, Geralt 'leaves' thinking Yennefer betrayed them. I don't think their relationship in the show can withstand another suspicion of betrayal so soon after last season. Not just any suspicion, but one that is carried until almost the end of the saga. Changing that 'betrayal' would also offer a lot of possibilities of Geralt and Yennefer teaming up (with other characters too) that we didn't get from the books and we badly need in order to develop their relationship much further. To be honest a lot of depth is lacking at this point.
Furthermore, the last wish conflict they themselves created is still there; unsolved, even if they want to pretend a "how is this possible" "I don't care" is enough because it's not. I really hope they address it but I don't think they will.
All these issues need a lot of time and care to be properly fixed, and given the fast pace of the show so far it's hard to see right now how they will manage to do that. On a final note, I felt betrayed by the title of the last episode too.
