Ocarina of Time Fanfic (Ch7)

Notes: Wow, so that took a wee bit longer than I anticipated. As soon as I was like "Ah, I should get this done soon" I immediately got sick and got floored for a week, and after that was I able to actually start working on it again. I spent time reviewing old chapters, tweaking them a little bit, then I spent time mapping out what I want to do in the story going forward, jotting down all sorts of notes and timeline stuff. Went through editing, then got a couple friends to beta-read... Overall a much longer process than I thought it would be, so my bad for saying like "Oh I could totally get this done soon" because boy was that not the truth.

Also with this post and going forward, I'll be posting the actual story text on my Ao3 account. It's partly because I like the look of writing on that site, but mostly because tumblr decided to be stinkers and open the floodgates for AI on this site.

Apologies to people who enjoyed reading this fanfic it in the past, I hope this chapter helps make up for the long wait. My plan is to keep writing for this fanfic until it's done, so look forward to future updates. :D

What I'll be up to in the future

So I've given it a lot of thought and I don't want to outright nuke this blog, but I can't trust tumblr with my creative works anymore. My plan is to gradually move my stuff away from this site and replace the posts with links to where they can be read, so basically this blog will be for posting links, writing updates, and reblogging whatever I find interesting. I'll probably... Not use this site as much as I used to, but I still enjoyed my time here, you know? As far as where I'll post, I do still have my Ao3 account, and I hear (despite it being fanfic focused) that original works are totally allowed with the right tagging. And they have a whole page about how they're opposed to letting AI scrape their site for data, so at least I know they're on their users' side for the time being.

As far as what my future projects are, for those who are still interested, I'm finally returning to my Ocarina of Time fanfiction. The big collab project I was working on ended up hitting a big roadblock and I don't know if it'll ever continue, so at the moment, I feel it'd be worthwhile picking up the fanfic and working towards finishing it. No idea how long that will take, but I'll go back to posting new chapters soon enough. I just gotta reread my notes and what I've written so I can refresh my memory. I was still in the middle of a chapter where I last left off, so that newest one shouldn't take too long.

Just learned about the shit tumblr is doing with midjourney and now I'm unsure what to do with this blog. It's like the one place I have to share original works.

While I'm scratching my head over whether to stick around or nuke the damn thing, here are some tips for opting out of the AI scraping stuff for now. Not sure if it'll even do anything since supposedly they already did a test data scraping run...

Step 1: Go to settings Step 2: Click on your blogs Step 3: Scroll all the way down until you see "Prevent third-party sharing" and activate that.

I hope that helps, and if there are more things that need to be done for opting out, let me know! If I do decide to close this account, I will let you know where you can find me before I go.

Hello everyone, my name is Alaina Strauss, and I'm a writer, reader, and painter. Welcome to my blog!

On here, I will share the short stories I write, information about the novel I'm currently writing, my artwork, book reviews, recommendations, and much, much more.

In all honesty, I have been trying to finish my novel for a while now, and I was never able to continue because of "writer's block." Well, at least what I thought was writer's block. I now figured out that it was not the case. Instead, I was lacking an outlet where I can just share tidbits of my work with no pressure. I was trying to finish the book all on my own, and I suppose that was one of the factors that made it difficult for me to continue.

I also plan to share a lot of short stories that I write for fun, as I believe those stories are never useless. I hope my stories will bring happiness to someone's day🌸

Tagged by @space-writes for another round of this tag game. Thought it'd be worth participating since I've been relatively quiet here. I don't have the mental faculties to really tag anyone specific, but hey, if you feel like participating, feel free! For this I'll be making use of a passage from the collaborative work I've been working on again with friends.

     “You… Will never escape… Judgement,” said the paladin.      “Do not speak empty words to me, for it is I who shall measure my sins, and no one else.”      With a clench of his fist, Nathaniel caused the man's heart to explode inside his chest. The armored paladin slumped over, blood pooling out from his helmet. Then Nathaniel drew his dagger, stabbing the corpse and sucking out its soul before it could escape. The dagger’s blade lit up with an eerie blue light before it was sheathed once again.      “One more cast into the pit.” Nathaniel stepped over the bodies in his path, making his way towards the prison gate. He ran a hand over his shoulder, making his wound disappear, then he straightened his tie, saying, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.”

Excerpt is from a smaller chapter dedicated to the main antagonist trying to bust some of his own out of a prison fortress. Sometimes it can be fun to go ham with a villain chapter because you get to showcase threat level and write fucked up and violent stuff.
