I want to punch "age regressors" who type w-wike d-dis (like this) because they think it makes them look more childish.
I wish all "I-I c-can't c-contwol m-my t-twyping qu-quwirk" (I can't control my typing quirk) a very die <3
yes you can control it. typing like that is a conscious choice. having a speech impediment is not. stop faking a disability ESPECIALLY because you see it as babyish and use it to look weak, childish and innocent.
you are a worthless ableist no life and I hope you choke.
people with rhotacism are not inherently childish. people with stutters are not inherently childish. get your head out of your ass.
I don't care if you "have it in real life"
A: I HIGHLY doubt that, because if you did, you would know what it's like to be treated the way you are treating people who actually have this
and B: even if you DO actually have it, not everyone with this speech disorder is ok with you typing with it to seem childish. most will be absolutely disgusted by your behaviour. stop it.
I myself don't have any kind of speech disability apart from a very mild stutter, but even so, these people's behaviour is absolutely sickening.
People really need to stop making fun of rhotacism (difficulty pronouncing the “r” sound) and other speech disabilities.
And honestly, I don’t think speech disabilities are talked about enough in the disabled community.

i don't actually give a fuck whether fatness is an indicator of health because health shouldn't indicate a moral high ground. being healthy isn't some pinnacle of human achievement, it's not morally superior. and being unhealthy isn't a moral failing and shouldn't mean you're less worthy of kindness, justice, and a good life. signed, a chronically ill person who will never be "healthy" at any weight.

the idea that "there's no base threshold of suffering we need to clear to have our issues taken seriously" and "there are people with differing levels of disability, some of which will be more disabled than yourself " not only can co-exist. they must co-exist. the existence of more disabled people does not invalidate other disabled people and that should not be the take-away we have from their existence. neither should that be the take-away when we acknowledge that there are some things we can do that other disabled people cannot do. ableds will not take us any more seriously if we erase the existence of people worse off than us.

disabled people buying mobility aids from Amazon are not the issue. Amazon is cheap and easily accessible. sometimes it is the best option, or even the only option.
disabled people who use plastic mobility aids are not the issue.
disabled people using plastic straws because they are unable to drink or will choke without them are not the issue.
disabled people buying thick water in plastic bottles are not the issue. (thick water is water specifically made for disabled people who have difficulty swallowing)
disabled people who use medical equipment made of plastic are not the issue.
disabled people whose medication comes in a plastic bottle are not the issue.
disabled people who travel in cars or buses or trains because they are unable to cycle or walk are not the issue.
big corporations are the issue. the rich are the issue. selfish politicians who do nothing are the issue.
get your eco fascism and eugenicist ideology out of here. disabled people are not responsible for climate change. disabled people deserve to use as much plastic and fossil fuels as they need to survive with as little suffering as possible.

When people erase canon disabilities in fanfic and write disabled characters as abled I should be allowed to erase the fact that they’re canonically (irl) abled (break their kneecaps)

I actually took my meds today so I have the motivation to shower!! I gotta eat first but I'm gonna do it!! I don't shower a lot because chronic fatigue and low motivation and sensory issues but I'm gonna do it!!
Disabled people who can’t shower/bathe, or groom, or do skincare, or just do any kind of personal hygiene tasks very often are just as epic and hot and cool as everyone else actually. perhaps even more-so. psa I love/care you SO hard if you have poor hygiene because of some kind of disability, whether that’s mental illness or neurodivergency or physical disabilities or anything!!! you’re so cool!!! people who treat us like shit bc we can’t do that stuff suck so hard and I suggest we all come to my house to plot against them :)

things such as ostomy bags and IBS too. you're not gross. no disability is gross. I love you are you are worthy <3
"Gross" stuff needs to be normalised in the disabled community. Like incontinence ect. There's such a layer of shame around it even in the disabled community.

for those reblogging this, please reblog this version with increased font size for accessibility.
stop saying "neurodivergent people DNI" on posts about physical disability, and start saying "able bodied people DNI".
physically disabled neurodivergent people exist.
yes, able bodied neurodivergent people need to stop invading spaces specifically for physically disabled people, but physically disabled neurodivergent people are allowed in physically disabled spaces because they are physically disabled.
the solution to not having enough spaces for physically disabled people is NOT to push neurodivergent people out of the disabled community. the solution is to make more spaces for physically disabled people. there is not limited space in the disabled community.

bringing this back because I'm sick of being told that I'm invading the physically disabled community by being autistic and having ADHD.
My Brother In Christ I have fibromyalgia and hip dysplasia. I am literally a cane user. I am physically disabled.

these kinds of "seats" at bus stops are anti homeless, anti disabled and honestly anti everyone because they're so damn uncomfortable. I can't even sit on them, I have to lean on them because they're often put at such a steep angle.
Tumblr media
Image description: red seats at a bus stop shelter. they are extremely narrow and at a slight angle making them difficult to sit on. end image description.
"but if we don't do that, homeless people will sleep there!"
if you want homeless people to sleep somewhere else SO BADLY, donate to your local homeless shelter with warmth and comfortable beds, so homeless people won't HAVE to sleep in public spaces.
"but lots of people choose to be homeless"
no they don't. that's what's shown on TV a lot for shock factor and entertainment value. this is EXTREMELY rare. stop trying to make yourself feel better about the fact that you're doing nothing, AND DO SOMETHING.

"i have x disorder and i don't think it's disabling, therefore it's not a disability"
that's cool and all but please remember all disorders are spectrums, and some people might experience it in a disabling way even if you don't. not everyone experiences their disorder in the way you do.

yes, internalised ableism is a real thing that many disabled people grapple with. but I’ve seen a few people use the term incorrectly, so I’m just going to make something clear
if someone with POTS makes a diabetes joke, that’s not internalised ableism. that’s ableism.
if someone with ADHD steals someone’s mobility aid, that’s not internalised ableism. that’s ableism.
having one disability and being insecure about that is not an excuse to act like a dick towards other disabled people. internalised ableism explains the pressures you put on yourself. it doesn’t explain ableist behaviour that is completely unrelated to your own struggles

“we need to stop treating kids as if they’re not real humans” and “we need to stop treating disabled people like children” are two ideas that are both true and can coexist
even if we started to treat kids with more respect and dignity… disabled people are not children. it is still bad to treat us as if we are kids, regardless of how well you treat a child

autistic children are not naive for saying the world should change if "life isn't fair." autistic children deserve to grow into happy autistic adults who can look back at a happy childhood. autistic people do not deserve trauma.
