WIP Character concept I gave up on; originally a physical sketch in ballpoint pen, edited and colored digitally in Krita.
I apologize for the weird artifacts and such from the base photo. I didn't feel like taking the time to fix those. My camera sucks, the lighting was bad, and, frankly, the editing process overall is hugely tedious and I just wanted to color. Some of the paper's texture is left in, though, and I like that.
Not that anyone's wondering, but the reason I haven't been posting is because I haven't been drawing, and the reason I haven't been drawing is because I rediscovered Minecraft
this took way longer than it should have, but I tried krita for the first time!!! still getting use to it so this isn't the best, but I adore the lineart I did :DDD

This is probably the last one I'll be sharing from the portfolio. Of the last three, one is very personal, and two were scrap I pulled together right as I got hit with pretty severe art block.
It's one of my favorites, though- I feel like, of the bunch, it best displays the progress I was making, and exemplifies a bit of a breakthrough for me. I wish I kept going from here, but... what can you do?
Based on, named for, and features lyrics from Vundabar's Deep Water, from their very best album, Devil For The Fire.
it is a little rough around the edges. There are things I did really, really well, followed immediately by things I did really, really badly. eh, that's art, I guess? Of all the pieces to look a little like trash, at least this one is sorta fitting.
It was all going well right up until line art, which is a pretty common theme with most of my pieces, and a process I've ditched relatively recently- from roughlyyy Spell Of Absurdity [this piece here] onward, I just don't do line art! And it's great and I love it and I wish I could say this is where I learned that lesson but any lesson worth learning takes a few tries. or several years!

A god captured by their own people powers a city at the heart of a frozen planet, keeping the last remnant of civilization alive. Those chains are meaningless, and everyone knows it- but the god stays, unwilling to turn against their creation even after this betrayal.
