jace is now 30 you guys. y’know what that means? that means a beautiful neatly trimmed beard, long blonde hair, tied/braided, even more golden skin, and a handful of kids in the making with his luv clary, adopted and biological. it also means he probably looks so beautiful it must be heartbreaking to even look at his face, cuz look at his face. 🎶

y’know every single new trainee that is sent to the institute is madly in love with him and there are collective sighs when he enters and leaves rooms, and the whole place gathers round when he’s doing demonstrations in the training room/courtyard, but jace is blissfully oblivious cuz all he sees is his goddess of a wife, mother of his children. 

he’s the best instructor in the world, so patient, so badass, so encouraging. praises specially the young all the time, tells them how good they are, nudges them gently in the right direction, and encourages them in other fields too. has instituted art days with clary, for the whole institute to participate and freely explore other skills. takes care of the library like a gem, and now writes poetry for clary of his own making, instead of just reciting the masters. also plays the piano often, and with a magic that has everyone smiling dreamily through their days as they hear it.

no i completely agree i thought it read like a fan fic too, you took the words out of my mouth. it definitely felt like cc rushed it. you’re right about alec being that way, i noticed too. i also thought simon was written weirdly and maybe it’s just because he was mourning but he just didn’t have that signature simon-ness. i guess it depends on the pov too. i couldn’t help thinking “what’s the point of all of this” when reading. it was enjoyable, yes, but it might be her worst work.

i think simon was acting like that because he was still grieving george’s death but cc could’ve shown that a bit better.

i don’t mind the characters being a bit ooc that much but the thing i actually disliked was the plot so i hope the next book is better in terms of that!

tlbotw really let me down 😔 something was off about it? i immediately noticed. i think it was the writing. the characters didn’t feel right either. i don’t know, i just feel like i had so many expectations

yep, i agree! it wasn’t bad per se, but at times it read like a fanfiction which is a pity and tbh i think cc just put all her effort in writing chain of iron (we’ll see about that though). 

you’re right about the characters too, at times it was like alec was a bit ooc maybe? like with him joking around ppl he just met or calling magnus all these pet names when i don’t remember him doing that in previous books.. i might be completely wrong though lol so don’t take my word for it
