I’ve completed the longest and most complicated build in Falcon 1 history. 17 days work and I’m pretty happy with the results. I’ve taken a completely different approach to model making this season and I think it’s paid off. This is Part 1 of the album documenting the construction process.
I’ve spent the last few weeks building the spaceship that will feature heavily in the upcoming episode and I’m finally nearing completion. I thought I’d give you a look at the concept art before I unveil the finished product.
As the upcoming episode is the first of season 4, I’m redesigning the opening title sequence. I’ve just filmed the shot of Falcon 1 going to light speed that will open the next seven episodes.
This is one of my favourite models that I’ve made for Falcon 1. Sadly it’s only going to be in the episode for a short time. I really trie to give it a Derek Meddings look, you may notice a resemblance to Thunderbird 4.
Filming for the upcoming episode has not gone smoothly but I’m getting near the end now. I should be up to the editing stage in less than a week.
I love filming in the cargo bay set. Because it’s so big it’s much easier to move the lights, the camera, the puppets and myself around than in the smaller sets like the control room.
I’m so envious of the work Stephen La Riviere is getting to do. I love seeing Gerry Anderson’s legacy continuing into the 21st century and I hope that in my own small way I can contribute to that with Falcon 1.
