To be clear, I absolutely agree with the idea that Imogen was pulling on every thread she could see to try to get Lilliana to leave. That much is clear from all the times she’s talked to her in the past. She wants Lilliana to defect from Ludinus, she doesn’t want her mom to be this notorious character in the periphery of her life anymore. Ludinus is beyond convincing and she wants her to see it so she plays up the angle she can see will affect her in some way.

I also just think that in the aftermath of that conversation, and then the one she has with Laudna, that the idea of a future and a family was absolutely front and center in her mind when it probably had never once occurred to her before while they’ve been occupied with larger matters for so. fucking. long.

in game it’s only been a few days or something so it makes sense timeline wise, and there’s obviously still a lot of processing to go, but i’m so so happy we got a talk about the Huge Unspoken Thing that’s been hanging over them since laudna leaned into delilah more.

i’m so happy we got to see their dynamic and how it’s shifted on the moon and yet remained the same!!

I know you posted about wanting Imodna headcanons yesterday but here’s mine a day late. My head canon is that Imogen had been too bogged down with sapphic longing and doubt before she and Laudna became a couple and since then it’s been ~moon shit~ so she hadn’t really thought about children until that dream talk with Lilliana. So I imagine that her response was her being like “You know what yeah I do kinda want a family with the woman I love are you going to kill me so none of it gets to happen?”

ooooh interesting!! that’s very very sweet and i hope it’s true. juicy juicy headcanon. delicious.

i think for me, rather pessimistically, i believe that imogen is trying ANYTHING to get liliana to stay, to leave ludinus and the vanguard behind.

everything that liliana says, imogen has an answer for. she wants her mama to come back to her so badly. when she hears liliana say “when you have a child of your own, you’ll understand”(which, by the way, liliana, look at you go resolving that cognitive dissonance. your child just doesn’t understand, that’s why she wants you to come home. not because you’re encouraging the slaughter of thousands and dooming yourself. surely not) she searches for an angle, a way to make this thing that is important for her mother important enough for her to stay, and she says “are you willing to keep that child from being born?”

i don’t know if she even had the higher order thinking available to her in that moment to consider the wider implications of that statement—a family with laudna—but i certainly certainly agree with you that even subconsciously, that’s something she’s starting to want for herself. i just think that in this situation, it’s not so much a conscious effort as it is “please, mama, please, mama, please—what can i say to get you to leave?”

that’s my headcanon. yours, however, is a Very juicy one and i will be thinking about it all day.

An imodna headcanon/idea - I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Corner Witches comic, but I like the idea of Imogen and Laudna first meeting in that sort of context.

Mainly I enjoy the 'loophole' offerings in the comic and I can imagine Imogen giving something like that, desperate and chancing her luck with fae rules, only to hear Laudna be sincerely delighted with whatever she brings. (also because Imogen has gotten Laudna gifts throughout the campaign)

omg i have never heard of this comic but it sounds lovely; fey-type rules are so interesting to me (hence my love for fearne, i’m so happy that that’s being explored in this campaign) and i think that it really suits laudna’s unique perspective and affinity for gifts!! this is very very interesting and i am going to be rolling it around in my brain for some time

She swallows. Weighs the truth against the lie. “All the time.” “Delilah always comes back,” Laudna murmurs, biting out the name like it’s poison. “It was fine when it was me, and me alone. When I wasn’t—I hated when she could get to you, when you were vulnerable, but at least you—you are extraordinarily capable. You’ve beaten her once, you could beat her again.” Her eyes fall to meet Imogen’s, and Imogen understands what she will say next. It makes her body go cold. “They’re only children,” she whispers. “They’re our children.”
