Replaying Persona 5 Royal with a challenge where no one but Joker can and must use support and status moves and teammates can only attack with them having to be in full assault mode for every boss battle (mostly so exploration and grinding is still fun for me) and oh my god I want to find the person who made the Persona 5 teammate AI and PUNCH THEM IN THE NUTS (OR IN THE STOMACH IF THEY ARENT BIOLOGICALLY MALE)

Counterpoint: The girls always insist on cooking while the Phantom Thieves let the professionals do the cooking so even though the Leader and Yosuke cook well, they still get food poisoning from the girls joining in anyway
I find it so funny that the Phantom Thieves get to enjoy cooking from either Sojiro or Joker who are both considered to be excellent chefs meanwhile the Investigation team are living at the edge of food poisoning to the point that Kanji brings insurance when the girls cook for them.

I love this so much! I appreciate it a lot. Even though my Wattpad days are far behind me I'm glad some people are enjoying those stories even if it lacked in.... many areas (sorry Nozomonai for some really in poor taste shit I wrote 😭 Ngl if I was still into bnha I'd definitely write you again in better taste)
I love how similar you made them look, they are family afterall and I like your artstyle a lot, its very vibrant and clean.

I feel like Teddy feels some regret for it happening since he did try to save George when he almost fell over and he sounded somewhat genuine when he said “It should never have happened” but I don’t think he feels as bad as he should be for committing manslaughter. He feels a bit bad and regretful but like nothing too insane
i do wonder if teddy genuinely feels any sort of regret for what happened with george or if he really is as apathetic towards the situation as he acts

I love this so much. From the spikes to the Justice is Blind theme to the medieval punishment to how it works functionally.
Somehow despite all my talk about Makoto and her justice, I never thought to use the Justice is Blind thing. As a shadow, Justice is Blind shows Makoto losing sight of what justice actually is in her and the Phantom Thieves' attempt to forcibly reform society through dictatorship but when Makoto's distorted desires are removed, Justice is Blind regains its actual meaning of justice being given equally to everyone regardless of background, race, etc.
I like how you reference a medieval punishment with the helmet and the fire on the persona. I'd never heard of pouring molten gold on someone's head despite being a bit of a history nerd (I guess its cause Im squeamish to most medieval execution methods). As you say the molten gold thing manages to illustrate 'Justice is Blind' and I also see it as illustrating the way that Makoto was blinded with good intentions. Her intentions were good and pure but she let the image of an idealized future blind her and ruin how she saw everything.
Love the overall color scheme, I can see Makoto branching out to a more colorful persona after resolving to gain true real life experience, not just the ones she got in her social link and I really like how you made it so the chariot is convertible since that is a bit of a disappointment I had with Anat which is that she lost the motorcycle that made her persona unique from everyone else's personas.
Makoto's distorted persona: Jeanne d'Arc
Tumblr media
Yes I know I am very original. I had a much more detailed write up about Shadow Makoto about 2 months ago but school really made me forget it all 👹
Background: A national heroine of France. Born a peasant girl and through divine guidance, led the French army to restore King Charles VII during the Hundred Years' War. She was burned by the English for heresy.
Now Joan of Arc is a very famous figure and has been connected to the Niijimas and honestly just any female character who has a leadership position so Makoto having Joan of Arc as her corrupted persona is not very original but 🤷‍♀️
So besides Joan of Arc's associations with leadership and the military, she was assigned to Shadow Makoto due to her story about how she was led by 'divine voices' throughout her life. Shadow Makoto rules with an iron fist under her belief that the desires of the people that she hears are telling her to take leadership and take control over their lives. It's essentially an inversion on Joan of Arc's story as while the voices Joan of Arc heard were ultimately for the good of France, Makoto's ultimately do not help the people of Japan who become dependent on her as she dictates every bit of their lives in her position as a goddess alongside the other Phantom Thieves.
Shadow Makoto is meant to be a shadow who shakes things up. She's essentially a wake up call boss and character. As explained in Makoto's post, her palace is much more difficult to navigate and she is very ruthless towards the Infiltrators but regarding her character, she's the start of the Thieves' bad traits really getting emphasized. Ryuji, Yusuke and Haru had bad traits brought up too but they all had explanations related to trauma, Makoto's explanations have trauma as well but she's the first character who will show that the Phantom Thieves aren't shining beacons of moral righteousness and are ultimately human not just in their pasts but in their character.
Makoto is a perfectionist who showed in her intro that she believed a lot in the social hierarchy and followed the set social structure. When she joins the Phantom Thieves, she does start to see past this but she does ultimately decide to be a police commissioner which is a noble goal but her lack of second thoughts regarding becoming a member of the police shows that she still has a lot of faith in authority which the other Phantom Thieves don't have which is why her palace is very rule based and dictated by order.
The power of a god twisted Makoto to the person she could become in her path to becoming the police commissioner as reaching that position requires years and years of work and having to work in a system that is beyond broken and corrupt. Shadow Makoto 'fixed' the justice system by taking complete control of it as its leader not just as the police commissioner but as what is essentially its Empress. Technically it would be Prime Minister since her palace setup is more modern but Shadow Makoto's reign is absolute and under divine rule so Absolute Emperor is more accurate.
When Makoto is stopped and she is no longer corrupted, she would seriously reconsider her dream of being a police commissioner. It's a good dream and has some personal ties to her but she's seen firsthand how much it destroys people like her sister Sae. With her character she would most likely not give up on it entirely but she would take some time to explore other avenues of a much freer existence before throwing herself into the grueling work of police because while it is important to reform society, Makoto can't reform society when she's still stuck in her own bubble because the reason society went to shit was because it's a world filled with hundreds of thousands of millions of different people with different circumstances, wishes, dreams, etc.
Now for the appearance of Jeanne d'Arc as Shadow Makoto's corrupted persona isn't super fleshed out but an idea my friend came up with is that Jeanne d'Arc would be based on this cover on Born this Way by Lady Gaga
Tumblr media
To give body horror and be a throwback to Johanna but obviously more twisted and corrupted. The motorcycle would be more demented as Jeanne d'Arc than Johanna to highlight the fact that its a corrupted persona but also Jeanne d'Arc was quite a violent woman which is only natural in the military but is commonly glossed over by people talking about her story.
When Jeanne d'Arc is no longer corrupted, her form changes to a chariot to highlight how Makoto is no longer taking the lone path of a ruler but the path of a leader who supports and is supported by others.

I DIDNT EVEN CATCH THAT YOU SNEAKY-
The revelation of the second face is making the imaginary animation in my head even clearer like the face is upright when buffing with masukukaja but is upside down when he uses an attack like vorpal blade. This is probably my favorite of the designs though Adelaide is very close
The World of Sayuri: A Palace of Humility
Tumblr media
Palace Ruler: Humilitas Kitagawa
Yusuke’s palace is a fledged out world of the Sayuri painting made up of colorful buildings and flowing landscapes. Everything is a perfect still, a perfect piece of inspiration for an artist’s landscape painting. Simultaneously made of real, or more accurately realistic seeming objects, and of careful brush strokes. A world that is never static and constantly reconfiguring itself to suit and inspire every single cognition housed within it. The palace was made as a hub of artistic expression with Yusuke encouraging his constituents to work on different pieces of art year round to be presented at the large and ornate Arts Festival where the pieces can be critiqued by other artists. This event is how the palace citizens negotiate their social standing, by 1. Creating iconic, masterful and deeply meaningful pieces of art or 2. Becoming the great critiques of art and helping to elevate the vision of other artists through meaningful advice and critique. The main goal of the festival as stated by Yusuke himself is to celebrate different forms of art and help the artists improve so that they can make better and better pieces.
Unfortunately for Yusuke his palace plans didn’t go as planned, a small group of the artists grew sharper tongues and their critiques became malicious. Rather than appreciating the pieces and looking at the ways the artist has either failed to fully portray their ideas or ways to improve their technique. This new group of artists began to champion Yusuke’s art as the best and deviation from his style and technique was seen as bad form. Their structured mindset became popular and started to spread among the other cognitions and Yusuke responded by sectioning off his palace into different tiers. This causes Yusuke to go from a passionate mentor of his subjects to a lackadaisical artist who only appears during the Arts Festival. To enter the deeper areas of the palace a test was set up where a painting by Yusuke would be presented and the person or people viewing the work would be tasked with critiquing the piece. Those who made critiques that furthered and met Yusuke’s goal for his palace would be allowed to go further. There were three palace segments and of course this means there are subsequently three tests.
The first test presents a painting titled “Of Sun and Wine” which depicts Yusuke drinking wine from Dionysus’ hands and basking in the light of Apollo’s sun. The second test presents a painting titled “Rebirth” which depicts the Shibuya Teikyu Building Accessway with warm sunlight shining through the accessway windows, a black cat with a yellow collar and blue eyes laying on the floor sleeping and absent of people and vehicles. The third and final test presents a painting titled “IS DESTINY MADNESS” which depicts Yusuke and Madarame’s face melding together with Yusuke’s face contorted into a terrified expression and Madarame’s smiling maniacally with sweat dripping from his forehead.
The first test has been passed by a majority of the palace goers, the second test has been passed by a minority of the palace goers and no one has been able to pass through the third test. The test presents the Infiltrators with a variety of ways to explore further into the palace depths. It is possible to get through the palace by never participating in the test instead fighting their way through the guards. However this will prevent them from gaining access to equipment that will let them enter rooms that give access to Yusuke’s will seeds. The rooms are themed around the artists: Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami and Chiharu Shiota.
Within Yusuke’s palace his treasure takes the form of an ornate paint brush hidden under the floorboards of his private painting room. When the Infiltrators arrive to steal the treasure the roof of the room opens and Yusuke snatches the brush away from them, the walls falling to open into a battlefield. The brush grows in size becoming the length of a spear and Yusuke unveils his persona, St Francis of Assisi.
Finally Yusuke himself appears in the palace reclining on floating clouds wearing a painted obi and an elongated Yukata that trains behind him. He wears his hair up with a topper to accentuate the hairstyle and a bit of hair covering one eye. Additionally he wears a face of makeup inspired by traditional Japanese makeup.

Im gonna cry your works are so amazing
The second I laid eyes on this design I just felt Yusuke's energy coming from it, the idea to fuse Oni and Kabuki is so creative and I love the color scheme, he's so vibrant
I can literally picture Yusuke summoning this persona and it swinging its lower half to attack with the paintbrush, like I am seeing the animation in my head
