Lisa Lisa wanted a big family, but with George’s death and the following events, her dream shattered. When she moved to Italy and became a hamon coach, she refused to view her students as anything other than a pupil, until she met Caesar. He was just older than her own son, and she couldn’t help but see some similarities between him and Joseph. That’s why Caesar’s death hit her so hard. She was forced to abandon Joseph and miss out in his childhood, and now the son she got to see grow up is dead.

Suzy Q loves surprising Joseph and is very proud to be the only person that can. Whenever she talks about a surprise event or writes notes about it, she does so in Italian, because Joseph is English. Unknown to her, Joseph picked up Italian fairly quickly (thanks to Lisa Lisa and Caesar) but refuses to let her know. Instead, he pays very special attention to her notes, conversations, etc so he knows when to be “busy” and not at home while she decorates the house exactly as she pictured, or he knows which food/sweets to avoid leading up the the surprise so when he takes a bite it tastes even sweeter, or who he should talk to another time because they’re helping Suzy Q with something. When the surprise comes, he acts very surprised, and Suzy Q is happy everything went better than planned.

After some time, Suzy Q finds out that Joseph knows Italian, but she doesn’t let him know and keeps planning surprises as she did before.

Eventually, they both find out what the other is hiding, but neither of them acknowledge it because it’s one of the ways they’ve learned to express their love. Suzy Q plans parties or special dinners for Joseph (and herself), while he gives her the time, space, and materials to make it the event of her dreams.

Speedwagon died having no biological children, but he did adopt several kids through this life (both officially and unofficially.) Joseph is one of these kids. The others were orphans, troubled kids, or needed a loving parent figure. Each of these kids were able to pursue careers and education previously unavailable to them. They then used their skills to further develop and expand the Speedwagon Foundation, which allowed more people to get the help they needed.
