Yang bringing up Tai in this conversation was great for two reasons. The first being that it ties into why they are even there having the conversation in the first place. It highlights Yang's responsibility as a sister as well, as Ruby's struggle with not knowing how to ask for help. And both of these things can be traced back to their childhoods; where they lost one parent to an unknown fate, and the other to his grief. Tai was right in front of them, but his feelings at the time were so big that they took priority over his kids needs. And that sort of complex trauma sticks with a person. For Yang, it became the responsibility to look after her baby sister (something she prioritized and wanted distance from at the same time), and for Ruby, it became an instilled belief that asking for help makes her a burden. That it was better to carry it all alone than risk stressing any of her caretakers with more than they were already dealing with. The second thing, is it pretty much confirms where the Relic of Choice is? Yang, when speaking of Tai's absence, asks: "what's more important than here"? And that's the only loose thread left, isn't it?
Atlas is gone, Vale suffered a second attack, and the refugees of both fled to Vacuo. Mistral is the only other kingdom still standing, but Salem already has their relic. So she doesn't have any need to go back and bother them. But Tai is still in Patch, he's not joining the fight, because there is only one thing more important than protecting the Sword of Destruction... and that's protecting the Crown of Choice.
Not to mention Patch, by definition, is:
(noun) a piece of cloth or other material used to mend or strengthen a torn or weak point.
(verb) mend or strengthen (fabric or an item of clothing) by putting a piece of material over a hole or weak point in it.
And while Vale specifically references a valley, the name is a homophone. It shares the same sound as words with different spellings and meanings. Namely with Vail: a verb meaning to take off or lower (one's hat or crown) as a token of respect or submission; and Veil: a cloth headpiece specifically designed to conceal, cover, or disguise.
Which is just one of those multilayered poetries that RWBY really loves. A valley (or veil) that conceals the crown of choice beneath a Patch.

thinking back to V5 when yang snapped at raven when she insulted tai—"don't you dare to talk about my family like that!"—, going on about how it was raven who was never there, who left them, and it's.
after raven left and summer disappeared, tai was there. he's the parent who stayed, was there for his daughters as much as he could be as a single father who still needed to work to provide for them, who read them bedtime stories, took them to the boba shop after school once a month that turned to almost two times a week by the time they were done at signal because how could he say no to his daughters?
his presence has been such a major part in ruby's and yang's lives that now that he's not there in vacuo, sitting in that familiar boba shop in a different location without him there, when the world might be ending soon, him not being there by their side is so noticeable for yang that she can't help but to wonder why? (and ain't that a reversal lol)
their dad has always been there and there are some things you should be there for like now, in vacuo and he's not and what could be more important than being there, with them, like he has always been?

"Maybe we don't have the full picture."
You know as someone who has spent the last year talking about how Ruby and Yang (and by extension, WE the audience) don't actually know NEARLY enough about their family history as they/we have long assumed thanks to Tai and Qrow being SUPREMELY unreliable narrators...
Yeah, this ABSOLUTELY feels like foreshadowing.

raven and qrow are part of a secret meeting. qrow says tai has an assignment that prevents him from being in vacuo—"maybe we don't have the full picture."
i swear this team can't escape secrets even if their life dependent on it. team strq more like team sq— no not going to write that out actually. forget it, just. team secret. they have layers. like an onion. goes on and on and makes me cry.

After watching Boba, there was a moment Yang pointed out that Qrow was acting differently. It made me go back to the other episodes and the epilogue, and perhaps the writers are hinting at Qrow behaving strangely.
I don't even care if he's acting weird because of the Summer Maiden, I'm so over that plot. I just find it fascinating that there's been up to.

Just watched the last two episodes of RWBY Beyond. Please excuse me, I am going to go cry now...
(From being Atlas, carrying the world on their shoulders. From being Prometheus, who brought hope and light to the world, only to fall into darkness themself)
Tumblr media
(To being a Pantheon. No, to being connected. That, is true balance. It is an ecosystem. Ruby no longer needs to give hope to others but save none for herself. Because she is not alone anymore)
Tumblr media
(Ruby no longer needs to lift other people up, even as she feels like she is silently drowning. The way this show depicts mental health messaging is priceless)

I really liked the scene between Somewhat and the Red Prince. Since his defeat by Ruby, he's been depressed and doesn't think he's up to the role he's been given. And that's why Somewhat has come to see him, to help him be more than the role he's supposed to play.

My poor sister’s boyfriend is so confused. He is watching us have a typical conversation
Ten minutes of silence. Then Me: I think I have a problem with horse demons
My sister: oh? Care to elaborate?
Me: Not really
My sister: Okay
Proceeded to return to silence. Cue boyfriend freaking out.

Have you ever noticed that the book Uryuu is reading in ep. 227 of Bleach is written in German?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the lines ‘Alle scheitert’ should mean “Everybody/everything fails”. I never studied German, so it would be really appreciated if someone would like to barge in and point out more details❤️
