anyway ive FINALLY memorized hiragana and im working on katakana now. its. slow but IM GETTING THERE! (and as a side note i'm recognizing certain kanji now which. was not my intention, but, hey!!! i'll take it!!!)

does anyone have any tips on memorizing particles (is that the word for them?) and telling the difference between them? specifically る,ろ, そ i am REALLY struggling to memorize those three because they look so similar to me ( ｉ﹏ｉ )

STUDYBLR i need help rq ;;

for the most part i've got hiragana memorized, i was gonna start on katakana, but immmm wondering when i should start kanjiii... should i start after i learn katakana, or after i start learning sentences and words and sentence structure and all that? or some secret 3rd thing idk.. ;;

(if it helps, i memorize faster if i do things one at a time and get to dedicate all my focus to a very specific thing [adhd moment])

So I'm learning Japanese and to really get invested, I'm watching a lot of J-dramas. I've noticed people being called by their surnames rather than their first names, and was wondering if anyone knew the reason? Is it a respect thing?

I'm currently watching Good Morning Call and noticed the main character's best friends call her by her first name (Nao) but her own boyfriend calls her by her surname (Yoshikawa). Unless I'm hearing it wrong (still a beginner in the Japanese language) ?

Also if anyone wants to help me learn, I would LOVE it! ありがとう !

so… i have been learning japanese!!! my german course will start in a couple of months and i’m excited to keep learning it, however learning japanese is in my 2024 goals :] since i started japanese dramas, i’ve been interested in the language. for now i am just learning from and practicing on duolingo. i’m looking for (and have found) some free online books and i’m gonna start studying using them as well. i don’t know why but it brings me so much joy when i remember words or build sentences with what i know. i really hope i can improve my japanese :]
