Parts of TKEM that really Hurt

Before I theorize some more and dissect Gon and Taeul’s poigant love story I really wanted put out the parts of last nights episode that hurt the most..

1. Jo Yeong…

What will be your 65th dream be?

Eun seop and Jo yeong hug, they both have the same face guys but their personalities like chalk and cheese. NOT to mention that it was JO YEONG that initiated the hug. Watching that scene hurt so much in the sense that their goodbye has a weight of finality that nobody is ready to accept. Yeong smiling at the twins with his entire face scrunching in the process, I felt that foreshadowing of eternal doom…

2. Gon and counterpart mother’s confrontation

I was quite happy that we got this meeting in seclusion of only them in alley way, instead of some dramatic backdrop. Both of them acknowledge that neither one of them are family are nothing to each other, their faces are the same but nothing else. Gon looks at this lady with so much remorse not in the sense that she is my mother but as “I am sorry you got dragged into this regardless of how much I tried “.

3.  Creation of new memories and lets not save the world scene

Just the fact of these two people smiling so oblivious to the storm with the sad background music had be ugly crying. I mean look at TE’s smile   😭😭. And especially when she says that regardless of how fast they liked each other and how earlier she entered his world tragedy also stroke faster…..

5.Gon’s cousins death ...

I mean okay we did not know this cousin character, but the way he described her when ever he and his uncle had their interactions and how he was prepared to declare her next in line, actually proved that she was that person who belonged to the few people Gon trusted with his whole heart, So him being devastated killed me.

5. PM koo’s downfall and mother loss

Okay I did not cry hear but I did feel bad for her, the reason being PM koo killed of her doppelganger in the sense that she knew lim would blackmail her using her counterpart, however she did not thing far ahead as to him exchanging her mother. and by the time she realised something like that happen it was to late and even her code word to her mother no longer was in use.

6. The last order:

Look at his face, he wants Ok-nam to live long and happy life  before he goes and erases himself from existence (that itself is whole new rant ) and tells her that he even bought that book as a souvenir, she is like his mother figure and seeing him look so gutted while saying this literally shattered me.

7. Last but not the least Shin jae’s confession

He never forced his feelings on her or even gave hints to her, but when she is begging him to let her be the one who goes with Lim he confesses in the hopes she will stay even though deep down he know she won’t , I mean in this show we did not have a second lead syndrome but that moment when he said that to her I felt his pain…

I mean the entire episode was painful to say the least but these selected secens were the hardest to watch without a gnawing feeling of pain dry eyes.. Please for the love of god I think I wont survive till friday…. I really need help man 😭😭😭somebody please protect these people…..

ASDFGHJKL!!! THE MAN IS EXTRA AF! LEE GON PUBLICLY ANNOUNCES HIS BETROTHAL TO TAE EUL WHILE WIELDING A LEGENDARY SWORD AND LEADING A CAVALRY CHARGE AND SMALL ARMY TO HER DEFENCE! 

And that’s right after she fought and shot her way out of captivity like the utter badass she is. And then she runs to him, even though she has no idea where he is, because he is her safety and because she knows that he would go to the end of the world to find her. And, of course, he does and Tae Eul, who’s been so strong until that moment, finally breaks down and begins to cry. They are so meant for each other, it’s unreal!

And while most male leads would die for the love of their life, LEE GON KILLS FOR HIS. He slashes through anyone who keeps him away from Tae Eul and fights his way through to her. He’s so fucking desperate and livid and afraid to lose her because Lee Rim had taken his father from him, then his uncle and now, he’s trying to hurt the only woman he’s ever love and Lee Gon would have none it.

During that one day that Tae Eul spends in Lee Gon’s Kingdom she learns so much about him, and not only about the man he is but about the king he’s always been. Furthermore, it makes her fully realize that she and the man she is falling in love with are truly living in two completely different worlds in more than one sense of the word. 

He’s one of the most powerful and richest men on Earth who owns literal mountains and his face is on real backnotes. That’s some next level social divide even for kdrama standards. Plus the whole nation is wishfully planning the wedding of the century between him and a beautiful, sophisticated prime minister.

Tae Eul sees for herself the country he rules, talks with his people and spends the whole night googling everything about him and cross-checking everything he ever told her, only to learn it’s all true and he never once lied to her. And even though he is an actual prince on a white horse, his life has been anything but a fairy tale. And that despite all the terrible things that happened to him, he’s become a good man and a great king loved by many who leads his own soldiers to battle in the frontlines.

All those things make TE realize how far away they are from each other and how impossible a relationship between them might be. In his world, she is so insignificant that they refuse to let her talk to him on the phone. It’s a heartbreaking realization.

And yet for her, Lee Gon turns his helicopter around and flies to the other end of the country. For her, he becomes a man who comes to pick up the girl he likes because she missed the last train, but in a royal style. It’s no wonder that she appears so awestruck watching him walk towards her from that building, once again breaching the distance between them - it must be a heady experience: to have a man like him want her to the point where he barely spares the gorgeous PM a glance.

All of that Tae Eul has experienced in that one day makes her realize that she might not have an eternity or a long life with him but she decides to steal all the time they can have together because while there are two worlds, there is only one Lee Gon in them and she wants only him.

When Tae Eul is in his Kingdom, Lee Gon bends backwards and trips over his own feet to make her happy, protected and comfortable - he flies for her across the whole country in his helicopter, cooks for her, steals in the middle of the night into her room to woo her,… A lot of people wrote about those but the most poignant, swoonworthy and meaningful gesture has gone completely unnoticed:

LEE GON ORDERS JO YEONG, HIS UNBREAKABLE SWORD, TO PROTECT HER WHEN HE HIMSELF CAN’T! He forgoes his own safety and assigns his best protector, his only friend and basically the only person he trusts unconditionally to keep her save because Yeong is the only one he trusts not only with his own life but with Tae Eul’s life. It’s the ultimate proof how much LG cares about her because he can’t give her anything more valuable.

it’s basically the equivalent of Rhaegar Targaryen ordering Sir Arhur Dayne, one of the greatest warriors of all time, to protect Lyanna instead of him because she is the most important person to him. Ergo the insignificant woman who couldn’t even call the king actually becomes the most precious and valued person in all the land.

If Tae Eul decides to leave everything behind and follow Lee Gon into his world, I won’t be surprised. He treats her like a queen and practically worships the ground she walks upon.

With the way he’s been wooing her, he’s basically ruining her for any other man because no other man compare.

Lee Gon once told Yeong that he needed some fairy tales in his life. And Lee Gon is Tae Eul’s fairy tale. It seems almost inevitable that she would fall head-over-heels in love with him - after 5+ years in the violent crime unit, dealing with the worst of humanity, she’s jaded, cynical, no-nonsense and doesn’t trust people because she’s been listening to their lies all the time. It’s a completely natural and necessary defense mechanism in her line of work. There, she’s surrounded by men and to make it so far she must have been tough or even tougher than them and while they like her, they treat her like any other man, even SJ. Her mother died when she was a child and was brought up by a father, who loves her but because she’s so strong and capable doesn’t even notice she disappeared for a day.

Tae Eul is a fighter who eats what she likes, never wears skirts or heels and doesn’t use her feminity to gain advantage, which makes her the complete opposite of SR. Lee Gon manages to break through her inherent distrust with his honestly and kindness. He openly admires her courage and skills but at the same time he treats her like the most precious and beautiful woman on Earth and that’s not something she’s used to. He’s so unlike any other man she’s encountered and the fact that he truly likes her, rough edges and all, makes her fall more and more in love with him.

She wants to be loved like that - that is why she is missing him and pining for him with more and more desperation everytime he leaves. It feels fitting that a girl who used to watch detective shows instead of Snow White and The Little Mermaid falls in love with an actual fairy tale prince who rides on a white horse.

The King: Eternal Monarch Ep 6, Romance

Okay. That hug at the end was pretty much a confirmation of their feelings for each other, right? I’m scared(in a good way) for the direction this is taking, because romance has been established but we’re only on episode six, so what’s to come? I’m pretty sure we’re having a slow burn with the villain plot for a reason and that’s scary because a Villain who moves in the shadow (see what I did there! Ha! An Extraordinary You reference hehe) is certainly a unpredictable character. I mean if Haru taught me anything is that you have power outside the stage LOL Okay, okay enough with the EY references.

Ow, my heart! The way he is looking at her after saying that. And then, he later said that he didn’t want her to leave that he could make her stay (by force of course lol) if he wanted to. But our hot majesty is too much of a gentleman and decent person to do that. And he did let her go.

I’m glad that Lee Gon was able to connect the dots quickly when he learnt the truth from his uncle. He finally knows that Lee Rim (i.e. the person who tried to murder him when he was a kiddo) is alive and not only that, but he also travels between the worlds. And his hot majesty understands that he is plotting something and he definitely wants the other half of the flute.

I just don’t want him to go down the noble idiocy route and “break up” with TaeEul because he is putting her in danger. He knows she is brave and smart enough to take care of herself and he needs her help to find evil uncle. I mean, even if he were to do it, it wouldn’t last because, well, is too early in the drama Ha!

(If you’re active on social media, you must know that there are some pretty big spoilers out there, including one beloved main character getting hurt, but I stil don’t know how to put my theories into place so that I understand what’s to come, butI know it won’t be pretty.)

You don’t fool me. You just wanted to hold hands with her! And I’m so here for it!

Their kitchen date was everything I wanted and more, even though they didn’t say much. Because there was no need to. And he made her food, how cute is that? (But the reason behind why he learned to cook was sad). She knows the whole story about his family now and how he became King at freaking eight years old! And when she told her that he grow up well, awww my heart! The look in Lee Gon’s face. And he knows she understands that it was painful. A lot was said in that scene. 

Please, stop it. For my heart! I love that when she says she understands he could have been lonely in her world, his first thought is to ask wether she felt lonely. Awwwww.

And they respect each other now and admire the work the other does. And what’s even better than that, being travelers between parallel worlds, now they’re more empathetic towards each other. This experience has certainly made the romance develop at gigantic steps, cause it brought them closer. Sorry Sinjae and Yeong, but these two have something on another level now. Ooops.

So when she left, I said NOOO! It’s too soon, it was only a day, he spent days at your world, TaeEul! Stay a bit more. Plus, nobody besides Sinjae noticed he ausence hahahaha. (But tbh it was kinda sad lol).

This is timey wimey stuff. No doubt about it. Time travel is afoot and I wonder if the key is that weird in-between-worlds place. It seems that way, but how? Kim Eun Sook-nim, talk to me, tell me how?! 

I loved that bit when they were saying goodbye (not in that weird place between worlds, before) and she called him Lee Gon. It was such a powerful moment and his hot majesty was hit with a lot of emotions that I don’t think he expected. Aww these two have my heart and I’m loving their story a lot. Please don’t hurt me too much.

These two have a lot of responsibilities in their respective worlds and a lot of people depend on those jobs being done right, so I actually like and admire the fact that, despite missing each other and not being able to communicate in such a long time, did not make them all melancholic and unable to work and carry on with their lives. They weren’t all mopey and crying in corners. I love that about them. And I supect we’re in for a lot of that, so I’m hoping (and I feel confident in this) this is how they handle future separations. To kick some ass while you SO is in the other world working, you got this! Both of you!

Also, I loved their souvenirs, Tae Eul had money from the Kingdom, with Lee Gon’s face on it hahahaha and his hot majesty had her hair tie and he wore it so much that he made a mark on his royal skin lol.

This scene was beautiful. As is the whole drama.

Listen, I was not sold into their romance in that first episode, but you can be damn sure that I am now. I’m a sucker for these two and I just hope friday comes soon. Even if I’m not ready for what’s to come. LMAO.

it’s called character development ↳ Episode 109, 2GETHER

dare i say this was the best 2gether episode yet? i truly mean it when i say this was a step up from everything we’ve had so far–which is already unbelievable to me.

we got domestic sarawat x tine, we got them flirting and being shy, their radiant smiles, so much hurt/comfort and the absolute yearning of them both being injured and not being able to reach other. we got them supporting and caring for each other (tine not wanting sarawat wanting to play because he was scared mil would do something, sarawat bringing him food, generally taking care of each other, tine trying to make up for sarawat not being able to play by practicing his own show himself and sarawat helping him through that). we got to see them spending more time with each other almost as a reflex. we got to see sarawat be honest about his feelings. we got to see them be physically affectionate with each other, make jokes with each other, tease each other, be comfortable with each other.

not just that… but the friendships and the supporting characters were also so good this episode. we got to see fong as a perceptive friend who knows enough about tine to essentially psychoanalyse him and prove theories that we’ve had about him for ages, we got to see his gentle friendship with tine as the person who basically knows him best. we got to see green and p’dim be affectionate with each other and green not as a villain or an antagonist, but rather a friend who supports and cheers tine on during his efforts. we got to see some of earn and pear being these supportive friends as well, pear going along with tine’s idea and earn saying that ctrl s isn’t the same without sarawat. we even got to see phukong square up and confess to mil that sarawat is his brother. i feel most importantly–we got to see the easy yet deep friendship sarawat has with man and boss. how they stuck up for him and were ready to fight for him, how they both got injured during the match and still tried to stay in for him, how they tease him but worry about him and take care of him, how they’re the dumbest yet best wingmen. the secondary characters this episode were all… so good, i feel. i wish we had seen more of the women, however.

so, yeah. this episode was a gem.
