I think it would be really interesting if Percy was some kind of messenger/diplomat who wonders why he’s ALWAYS getting sent to this kingdom
and then he finds out that the crown prince has been specifically requesting him this whole time

‘The Portrait’
I should be working on finals but my brain insisted on starting another project. This'll probably end up as a part of a short comic.
Premise: Harry discovers a secret room and finds a giant portrait of a mysterious man.

tbh this is way more common than people realize, practically every leader has to do this irl
So, a while ago I saw a post that Dumbledore collected outcasts just as Slughorn collected important people. But I just realized that Dumbledore only collects outcasts that he can give opportunities to, so that they feel indebted to him and are loyal. Hagrid, Remus and Snape were given something that no one else would have given them, and they were extremely loyal to Dumbledore.
Hagrid was given the chance to stay in Hogwarts and be part of that society, even though he was the believed perpetrator of a cold bloded murder and having housed and extremely dangerous beast in the castle. He later got to teach despite not having completed his education. Dumbledore gave him that, and Hagrid was extremely thankful for that.
Remus Lupin was given a normal education in Hogwarts despite his condition. A condition that was extremely judged and discriminated against in the wizarding world. We never again hear of another werewolf that attended Hogwarts, he was given an special opportunity. Remus owes his education and the friends he made while in Hogwarts to Dumbledore, a man that later on would give him his first stable job in years. Not only that but he got the job while Sirius Black was on the run and many people (Snape) believed he was helping Black sneak into Hogwarts. That was an awful lot of trust that was put on Remus. Trust that Dumbledore put on Remus. He is also very thankful for that.
Snape was given the chance to not go to jail for being a death eater. He was accused infront of a jury and it's Dumbledore's words that allowed him to keep his freedom, it doesn't matter why he "turned", if Dumbledore hadn't given him a chance, Snape would have gotten caught being a death eater and would have gotten sent to Askaban to rot in a cell. And when the war ended Snape was given the chance to have a job, a stable job, despite being very abusive towards children (although he probably didn't perceive himself as such) and more importantly, despite his shady past, he had been the equivalent of a Nazi and was given the chance to teach at a school. He owed Dumbledore his freedom and his career.
As you can see, the three of them owed something important to Dumbledore, but the particularly of this debt is that it wasn't material, if he had given Remus money, he could have invested and maybe give it back, but his education is not something he can pay back, he feels like there is no other option than to be loyal to him. In the end he genuinely appreciates Dumbledore. But a lot of his loyalty lies in the fact that he feel indebted to the old man. The same thing with the other two.
Dumbledore not only collected outcasts so that they belonged with him, he collected the outcasts he could offer something special and unique, something so special and unique they would have no chance but to be loyal to him. He wasn't an old nice man who cared for the ones that didn't fit. He was a manipulative guy that only searched for loyal supporters through fake kindness. Which is really scary if you think about it.

There is no reason to hold fanfiction to an imaginary moral standard of censorship that doesn't apply to published media.
Any horrible, twisted, taboo material you can find in fanfiction, you can find in published novels, movies, games, etc.
You can go to the library and check out romance novels about underage incestuous relationships, or horrible violent abuse. You can rent movies about them. You can find them on amazon kindle.
Asserting that people shouldn't be allowed to write fanfiction about taboo, horrible, twisted ideas and relationships, when people have always done so in fiction is absurd.
Especially when you're asserting it regarding fanfiction about media that has those same or similar dark themes actually in the text of the media.

Hello guys! The MWPP team would like to remind you that donations and prompting are still open and will be open until the end of April!
We have a little over 300 volunteers ready to create some amazing fanworks for this project, but still not enough prompts for everyone, so please don't forget to spare a few dollars for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund ♡
Our main priority is fundraising as much as we can for the PCRF. The situation is dire and every dollar counts, and even a small project like this one can create a significant impact in someone's life.

neither “that’s not canon” nor “fuck canon we made this all up” but a secret third thing (canon shouldn’t be taken as gospel but is useful as a reference point for building upon and recontextualizing characters and details. if you worship the source material as unchangeable then fandom in general probably isn’t for you. if you have complete disdain for the source material you would probably enjoy yourself more in a different fandom)

the yassification of voldemort and the demonization of dumbledore will always be my Roman Empire
don't shoot the messenger but dumbledore was not the this all out evil guy that the fandom makes him out to be. is he frustrating sometimes; yes, but i feel like ppl forget he was literally a WAR general in the middle of a WAR. like of course the dude had to make some sacrifices, he was fighting a fascist dictator in order to save the entirety of the wizarding race 💀 you're not gonna come away from that death free and he needed to make some tough decisions

I agree! I really think Tom would inevitably grow to associate death with the sniffling, weak muggle orphans of his youth, especially if you consider the fact that wizards have extended lifespans/better healthcare/etc. It makes sense that Tom, the embodiment of “I’m not like the others,” would grow to despise and even fear death this way.
Why aren't more people talking about Tom Riddle's irrational, phobia kind of fear from death and the cause of it?
Personally I think it's heavily related to his environment growing up in the Great Depression and WWII. The adoption act just passed in the year he was born and it wasn't working effectively for years while the system was overwhelmed with children.
When the Depression hit they lost their foundings, people were often starving and child sicknesses like whooping cough, scarlet fever Tom probably saw children die in his close environment through his childhood. We see that he stole trinkets but it's more likely that they stole food and clothing from each other as well. It's also important to note that Mrs Cole was canonically an alcoholic so it was not a case of an emotional supportive and responsible adult taking care of them.
As Tom leaves for 2nd year Germany starts the WWII, before his 3rd yr he is still London when the first air raid happens, bombs meant for military targets end up in the city centre. Food rationing was normal. He misses the Blitz by being in Hogwarts but most of the city is destroyed with horrible condition when he returns, there are heavy bombings at the end of july. Continuing with v1-v2 bombings. Tom was surely either in an aid shelter or out in the city at one point. It's possible that at that point he was unaffected by the sight of dead people, children lying around daily.
We know that he wanted to stay at Hogwarts for summer but Dippet denied him and I can only hope it was out of ignorance and not purposefully sending him back to a war zone.
All through this he had a trace on his wand due to being underaged. So he could only use his raw magic.
It's no wonder that he decided he never wants death, that if he had survived all of this he deserves to escape death himself. He mutilated his own soul multiple times just to cheat death, that's desperation wrapped in arrogance.
He was a traumatized war orphan with incredible high Intelligence and scarily potent raw magical power, he had zero chance against his hubris.
