28 Days Of Memories: Wordsnstuff February Writing Challenge
Tumblr media
– Last month, you guys really enjoyed participating in the writing challenge for #wordsnstuffjanuary. I recommend sifting through the tag and reading some of the responses. They’re truly amazing. Another month-long writing challenge was highly requested so I decided to make it a monthly thing. If you have a theme idea for the next few months, let me know here. I’m very open to suggestions! Gentle reminder that you can post the responses on Instagram as well. All I ask is that you use the #wordsnstufffebruary and/or tag @ writingandsuch so I can find your fabulous writing!
Side note – some of these are obviously more time consuming than others so it’s not required that you respond to them in order. As long as you specify which prompt you’re responding to, there won’t be a problem. The goal of this challenge is to inspire you to write every day and give you some sort of incentive and format for sticking to a writing schedule. The idea is to respond to one each day, so it doesn’t really matter in what order you do that.
☼ Prompt List ☼
Write about the happiest memory you have
Write about your first relationship
What was it like at your lowest point
Write about a time where someone really came through for you
Something that took a long time to accept
Write about dream you left behind and why you gave up on it
Write about what you used to do for fun as a kid
Write about your first love
Write about what it is like to grow up. If you haven’t yet, what will it be like?
Write about what it was like leaving home. If you haven’t yet, what will it be like?
Write about a memory that used to make you smile, but now makes you cry
Write about a person that left your life too soon
What scent(s) remind you of times in your life and why?
What have you done on Valentine’s Day through the years?
Write about your first passion. Are you still passionate about it?
Write about something you wish you had done
Write about a time you were obsessed with something
Write about a seemingly insignificant memory that means the world to you
Write about a risk you took. Was it worth it?
Write about your first kiss
Write about a place you used to frequent but never visit anymore
Write about a lesson you learned the hard way
Write about a memory that makes you cringe
Write about a person who left your life too late
Write about an opportunity that changed your life
Write about an event that, at the time, felt like the end of the world
Write about a person who once meant the world to you but is now a stranger
Write about your first heartbreak
I read all of your guys’s responses and they were all so lovely and amazing, so I decided to give all the writer’s out there who gave it a shot a ‘lil shout out because you guys wrote wonderful stuff that was really nice to read at the end of the day.
@perfectlyimperfectmess @psuedonom @viridis-blooming @oreodragonborn @willwantwrites @humblefun @writingonallthedrugs @hygeeandengentado @i-will-try-to-write @storyunrelated @risrielthron @chiizuburger @imperiallefty @boothewriter @largelevi @becs-bunker

To everyone who has lush fields ripe with story ideas but is struggling to go out and actually harvest them with your writer’s scythe: that’s alright. There’s a reason.
I see writers despairing or making self-deprecating jokes about how many wips they have, as if the ability to come up with the idea is equal to the ability to finish it out into an end product.
It isn’t.
A lot of our ideas come about, not because we were determined to be productive writers, but because daydreaming is an internal escape from life’s demands.
Writing is a demand, too.
Resting and relaxing are basic needs, unlike the high level, abstract satisfaction of being creatively productive. That’s why you might daydream (which is a mild and normal form of dissociation) ideas that you feel good about, and then struggle to research, write the words, fill plotholes, check grammar, revise— all the critical thinking and executive function things involved in creation. Your basic needs must be satisfied before your higher needs can be met effectively.
So, if you’re daydreaming about your stories extensively to mitigate stress, it’s expecting a lot of your stressed self to return from fantasy land, sit down in the cold hard real world and do the hard work to write masterpieces of literature. Those operations are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Writing is hard. Making yourself feel guilty is only going to make it harder. You don’t have to atone for entertaining or distracting your mind by making that available to other people. Daydreaming is a valid end in itself.
Don’t feel bad about having ideas but not being able to write them. Scribble some notes if you can, if you want, but above all enjoy the escapism and take care of yourself first. The words will come after.

hey kids who read fic, listen up
it’s annoying to me as a Fanfic Elder that y’all don’t understand how consent works in regards to reading fanfic
last night I saw a fic that had EIGHT of my favorite tags included and a great summary BUT it also contained a tag for a topic that bothers me. I weighed the pros/cons and decided NOT to read the fic because the ONE tag I disliked was something that could trigger a panic attack if the scene went into any sort of detail - it wasn’t worth risking the eight good tags.
from the first moment I noticed the fic to the moment I decided not to read it, the entire experience was MY RESPONSIBILITY. the author tagged the fic correctly, I knew what my limits were, and I respected them.
if you find a fic with tags you don’t like, JUST DON’T READ IT
don’t harass the author, don’t post a big whiny rant about it on Tumblr, just keep scrolling
that is your job as a reader.

I have an imagie idea for Joe Goldberg. So imagine the reader likes Joe and works with him at Mooney's and he developes a soft spot for her and teaches her how to repair the old books down there. And it isn't uncommon for her to go down there on her own to do that herself.
Tumblr media
You give out a long sigh as you walk toward Ethan standing behind the cash register, and you drop your arms and head on the counter as soon as you arrive. Ethan gives out a chuckle as he observes your melodramatic act.
“Let me guess. One of too many customers asked you one of too many dumb questions?”
“No, there’s barely anyone in here.” You give out another sigh and look up at him with desperation. “I’m just so bored.”
“Well, you can always re-stack the shelves.” Your friend and coworker speaks as he counts the money in the cash register, his eyes sometimes looking up so he can send a smile when a new customer walks in. “We got a few new boxes in this morning.”
“But my arms are so sore.”
Ethan gives out a small smile. “Oh, really?”
“Yes, really. They hurt so bad. Actually, I think I might need to ampute them.” Your comment only manages to bring a chuckle out of Ethan, then you notice something from the corner of your eyes, and a spark of curiosity appears in your eyes. “Hey, what’s that?”
You point at a small pile of wrapped books on the far edge of the counter.
“Oh, a client dropped these earlier. They’re old books that need some restoration.” Ethan continues to count the cash, humming a familiar song in-between his words. “I’ve been planning to tell Joe as soon as he comes back from his errands.”
“What? No, forget Joe.” You rapidly grab the pile of books, a wide smile taking over your lips. “I’m gonna go downstairs and take care of these myself.”
“Um...” Ethan gives you a look of hesitance. “I’m not sure you should do that.”
“Aw, come on, Ethan.” You give him a pout, batting your eyes. “You know Joe trusts me to do these. He even said I’m doing a better job than he is.”
He bites his bottom lip, still unsure. “Yeah, I’m not saying you aren’t good, but he’s given us straight orders not to go down there for a week now.”
You point at the half empty store with your head, your voice lowering to a whisper. “Whatever’s down there isn’t worth this deadly boredom up here.”
“(Y/N).” Ethan calls out your name as you walk away, his voice coming out a bit more panicky when you ignore him. “(Y/N)!”
“Relax! Joe won’t mind, I’m sure.” You unlock the door to the basement, then send your friend a wink. “Call me if there’s an emergency.”
You open the door and close it behind you before Ethan can say anything else, your feet already making you walk down the stairs as you hum a song. It doesn’t take long for you to reach the main area of the basement where the rare books are, your mind settled on getting to the restoration table. Although, a putrid smell brings your pace to an abrupt stop, and you frown in both disgust and confusion. Curious of the origin of the smell, you turn your head toward the glass cage on your left, internally wondering if you should adjust its humidity levels.
You drop the books on the floor the moment your eyes settle on the body decaying in there.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Hey, Ethan.” Joe smiles as he walks into the shop; although, his smile slightly falters when he notices his friend jumping up at the sound of his voice. “Whoa. You’re okay? You seem nervous.”
“Ah...” Ethan’s fingers fidget with the cash register for a moment, trying his best to focus on finishing his counting task. “No... No, I’m good! Great even!”
Joe quirks an eyebrow at that, thinking that this kind of behavior could only mean one thing, and he crosses his arms over the counter with a grin.
“So, what did (Y/N) do?” He stares intently at his friend, his head slightly tilting. “Tell me the truth.”
Ethan’s eyes quickly shift toward the basement door, but Joe immediately catches onto it.
“No...” His heart sink with fear as he realizes what you’ve done, and Ethan doesn’t have time to reply anything that Joe’s already running to get downstairs. “No, no, no!”
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bitter vomit pours out of your mouth to splash in the trash can you barely managed to grab, violent trembles taking over your body soon enough. The image of the body’s glazed white eyes staring back into your soul sticks into your mind, and it only worsens your sickness. You breathe sharply the moment you stop throwing up, using your sleeve to wipe off your mouth as you take another look at the cage. Whoever this body used to be, you can tell he’s been trapped in there for a while, his decaying skin looking like a gooey moldy paste. You can see some dry white foam around what used to be his mouth, and it doesn’t take you more than a few neurons to realize that he was poisoned.
And that Joe killed him.
“Oh my God...” You cry out those words as you stand up, your legs shaking as you try to run back to the stairs. “Oh my God, Ethan! Ethan, we have to call the police...!”
The door opens before you reach the top of the stairs, and your heart drops when you realize that it’s not Ethan who’s standing up there.
It’s Joe.
“... (Y/N).” Joe whispers that name as soon as he sees you standing down there with a look of terror on your face, his hands already closing and locking the door behind him. “(Y/N), please, let me explain. I... I can explain-(Y/N)!”
You don’t waste a second to run back down, your mind now focused on finding the basement exit to reach the alleyway. Tears fall out of your eyes when you hear Joe run down behind you, screaming your name out of desperation.
“(Y/N), wait! Wait!”
He manages to grab the back of your shirt and pulls you back.
“No!” You scream as loud as you can the moment you feel his arms wrap around your body, hoping Ethan would be able to hear you as you try to kick yourself out of Joe’s grip. “No, no, no, let me go!”
“I’m sorry...” Joe whispers those words into your ears, struggling to wrap one of his arms around your neck. “You weren’t supposed to see that...”
You gasp for air when you feel his arm squeezing your neck, your hands desperately scratching at his skin to stop him. “Let... me go...!”
“I can’t do that.” He puts more pressure on your neck, making you moan in pain as you give out raspy shot breaths. “I’m so sorry.”
I’m gonna die. You think, your movements slowing down as your vision blacken. He’s going to kill me.
Joe frees your neck the moment your arms fall victim to gravity, and he gently lays you on the floor. His eyes fill up with tears when he sees your unconscious face and the red marks around your neck.
“I’ll fix this.” He presses a gentle kiss on your forehead, his mind already racing to find a solution that would save you from himself. “I promise you I’ll fix this.”
In the meantime, he’ll have to keep you down here.
And hopefully Ethan won’t question his excuses.

Potential Virus Risk on AO3 Comments
Hey everyone. So, I wanted to make a post about something I've seen in AO3 comments recently and I wanted to let y'all know so you can be careful.
Today, on two separate fics of mine, I got comments from guests with different names that had what looks like a key smash followed by a weird link. They looked like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, it is possible that these are legit comments and these links lead to nothing bad. But, in my experience, this looks like a classic phishing scam or a link to a virus. Honestly, I never open links I see online unless I know for sure I can trust the source. And even then I'm a bit hesitant, since I know that accounts can be hacked. I actually deleted the first email and comment immediately and didn't really think about it again. However, after getting another comment that was almost identical but from a guest with a different name, it makes me think that this might be something bad.
So, if you see these kinds of comments, unless you know exactly who sent it, I'd recommend just deleting them and not clicking on the links. Honestly, even if you know who sent it, I'd still be careful just in case they got hacked. If someone wanted to send you a legit link, they would probably do it with some kind of comment beforehand saying what the link actually leads to. This seems to me like they're trying to prey off curiosity and it can lead to some nasty stuff. Since I know some AO3 writers and readers follow me, I thought I'd post about it here. Similarly, if you see a comment like this on someone's fic, maybe don't click on it either. Again, I can't guarantee this is anything bad, since I definitely did not click on the links, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If y'all could reblog this to spread the word, I'd appreciate it.
Anyway, be careful out there guys! I got burned a few too many times as a kid, so I'm extra careful with links and things now, ha.
EDIT: Apparently, these links are indeed malicious. I checked them in an online link checker, and it detected one malicious source from the link in the second message, but 12 malicious sources in the link from the first message. So, it's pretty clearly a virus or phishing scam. Please be aware!

9 - Kidnapped
Prompt: #9 “Sounds like a you problem.”
Fandom: The Boys (Billy Butcher x Reader)
Word Count: 463 words.
Warnings: Kidnapping, death threat.
Tumblr media
You shut your eyes close as soon as you feel the bag being pulled from your head, freeing your eyesight for the first time in the past three hours. You blink your eyes open, hissing when you feel the rope sting the skin around your wrists, and you can’t help but give out a confused look when you see four men standing in front of you.
“What?-Who are you?”
You had been expecting a supervillain of some sort. Someone you fought in the past, or maybe a quick scandalous kidnapping planned by your bosses so one of your “superhero friends” could come and save you, maybe to give the new girl some good reputation. But these men, you’ve never seen them before-
“Hey, Supe girl.” The man closest to you speaks up, his lips curling into a cruel smile behind his heavy beard. “Got some questions for you.”
Your blood ran cold when he points a gun at your head, and your eyes widen in surprise.
“And you’re gonna answer them nicely, okay?”
“… Or what?” You straighten your back, your fingers taking a hold of your ropes to see if you can get out of them. “You’re gonna kill me?”
“Oh, we’re gonna kill you either way.” His smile seems to widen for a moment as he ignores the looks given by the other three, and he tilts his head at you. “But if you answer my questions, I promise to make it as less painful as possible.”
You can’t help but give out a laugh, trying to hide the fear hiding in your throat. “Kill me? You look like an ordinary man to me. Not quite sure you’ll be able to accomplish that.”
“She’s right, Billy.” One of the men, the skinniest of them, gives Billy a skittish look. “You know nothing can touch her. That bullet will go right through her. She’s… immaterial.”
“For now.” Billy slightly loses his smirk, his eyes staring at your face with anger in them. “But Frenchie here will find a way…  right, Frenchie? I mean, you did create these ropes, and they seem to keep her contained.”
Your heart drops as you realize that he’s right; you can’t free yourself from these ropes. The smallest of the men gives out a scoff, an accent rolling of his tongue as he speaks a language you don’t know.
“Mais bien sûr.”
“You’re not gonna get away with this.” You thin your lips, your breathing getting heavier. “If you kill me, and Homelander learns about this-”
“Sounds like a you problem.” Billy takes off the gun’s security, and his smile returns. “Now… be a good girl and our questions.”
Somehow, you get the feeling that you’re not going to get away with this as easily as before.

8 - Memories
Prompt: #8 "Do you remember?"
Fandom: Until Dawn (Josh Washington x Reader)
Word Count: 466 words.
Tumblr media
"Josh? I'm back!"
You voice sings as you walk into your home with a few bags of groceries in your arms, kicking the entrance door close before you take your steps into the kitchen. You hum a song as you put the bags on the counter, slowly taking a few items out if the bag with the intention of putting them away. You stop midway, though, and you look towards the room's exit with a look of confusion on your face.
"Josh?"
You hear some papers being shifted in the living room, and so you carefully take a few steps into that area. Your heart drops the moment you see Josh sitting on the floor, his hands holding onto pictures of him and your friend group from high school. A ton more pictures are scattered on the floor all around him, as if he have been looking at each one of them for the past hour.
"Hey, Josh..." You whisper as you kneel next to him, your hand touching his back to give him comfort. "You haven't felt the need to look at those in a while..."
He stays silent, his hands still rummaging through the pictures. Your heart squeezes, and you give out a sigh.
"Do you... Do you remember?"
He looks up at you with sadness in his eyes, showing one of his pictures as he gives out a croak of agony. He seems to be pointing at how he used look like, without the huge opened scar that spreading from his mouth to the end of his cheek.
"Oh, Josh..." You give out a sad smile, then you gently lower the picture so he can look into your eyes. "It's okay. I know it's hard for you, but you have to believe me when I say you're just as lovely as you were before."
He shakes his head, his hands almost pushing the pictures into yours as he makes pleading sounds. The sadness of your smile reaches your eyes, and you stretch out your hands to hold the sides of his face.
"I love you, Josh." Your words make his pleading sounds come to a stop, and he looks at you with curiosity when you gently caresses how scar with your thumb. "No matter what. I will always love you."
He seems to believe your words, and you carefully watches his eyes flutter shut, his head leaning into your touch. You give out a chuckle when he seems to give out a purring sound, and you look at him with a certain fondness in your eyes.
You'll do your best to help him heal from what happened that night on the moment, even if it means he'll some day have to remember what he did to you and the rest of your friends.

Alright this is rly sad but here goes. I started doing my once-in-awhile bot purge from my followers list. And. I used to be able to just quickly scan and see the bots. They were the ones with default icons and generator-sounding names like "noun-girl-827". And if you weren't sure, you could click on the blog and it would be immediately obvious it was a bot because there's either just bad porn click bait, or nothing there.
Well. This time I had to give up immediately because I got like ten followers down the list and was having immense trouble figuring out who's a bot and who's real. Never ever used to see this but like 5/10 of the first few followers I checked on had just totally empty blogs. It wasn't until I'd already blocked 2 - assuming bots bc empty blogs - that I thought to check if they had any likes. And bam! There it was. All of their user activity.
We have people on this website now who have never reblogged a single post.
Y'all, I'm sure you're sick of seeing "you have to reblog thing" but you literally have to reblog things. That is how this website works. You understand that, right? How do you think the post you hit "like" on got in front of you? It wasn't because you liked enough things and Tumblrs algorithm figured out what you like enough to hand it to you. It's because you followed someone, a human person, who reblogged that post. And it came from another person who also reblogged it.
You are killing this website by refusing to interact with it in the way that makes it better than the other websites you ran from to come here.
Anyway, I'm sure you're all nice people, but I'm not going to play the "bot or not" game if you have an empty blog I'm going to block you.

7 - Horror House
Prompt: #7 “Check that again, are you sure?”
Fandom: Scream Five (Chad Meeks-Martin x Reader)
Word Count: 583 words.
Warnings: Blood, killing, swearing.
Tumblr media
“Help me!”
You scream out those words as you run through Amber’s house, blood spread all over your skin and clothes as you cry out your friends’ names. But none of them answer you, the party that raged thirty minutes ago now replaced with a deadly silence.
Your eyes widen when you run into someone’s chest, and you give out a scream.
“Hey, hey, hey! (Y/N), it’s me!” Chad grabs onto your shoulders to make you look at him, his eyes filled with terror and worry when he notices your state. “Jesus Christ, (Y/N)! Did the killer stab you? We need to get you to a hospital-”
You give out a cry, both relieved to have found your best friend. “This isn’t my blood…”
Chad’s skin pales at your words, but he comes back to reality when you grab onto him and cry out some more.
“The killer came out of nowhere, and she stabbed Richie!” You hold onto him tighter, not caring if you stain his clothes. “She tried to kill me, but I got away!”
“She?” Chad holds you back, his mind filled with questions as he listens to your crying rant. “You know who the killer is?”
You hum and nod in agreement, almost chewing your words before they pour out. “It was Liv.”
A silence follows and Chad’s grip on you tightens for a moment. “Liv? Check that again, are you sure?”
Your heart drops. “Yes, I’m fucking sure, Chad.”
“I mean… maybe you’re mistaken. Maybe… Maybe she was trying to help you!”
You free yourself from his grip to send him a glare. “By trying to plunge a knife into my chest?”
“Okay, okay, you’re right, this is dumb… but this is Liv we’re talking about!” Chad gives you a shaky smile, his eyes telling you that he doesn’t want to believe his girlfriend could do something like this. “She could never hurt a fly!”
“She tried to stab me!”
“Well, maybe she thought you were the killer.” He notices the unbelievable look on your face, and he opens and closes his mouth a few times. “I mean… mistakes like that happen all the time, right?”
You take a step back from him, your head shaking as you feel the tears fall from your eyes. “You don’t believe me?”
“(Y/N), of course, I believe you! It’s just…” He shakes his head as well, a sigh escaping from his lips. “It’s just so hard… how could someone close to us want to kill us?”
“I know.” Your lips stretch out onto your cheeks in a cruel smile, your hand grabbing the knife you left in your jeans backpocket. “You should have seen Liv’s face when I cut her throat open.”
His eyes widen, shock spreading faster than his feet can move. “What?-”
He gives out a scream when you plunge the knife into his chest, his blood splattering on his face when you take it out in one quick pull. Chad’s hands fly to his wound, desperately trying to stop the blood from pouring, but he can only fall on his knees as he feels himself weakening. He looks back at you, a glint of confusion, fear, and betrayal in his eyes.
“Why…?”
“I love you, Chad. Well, loved you.” You slightly lose your grin. “You should have asked me out instead of Liv.”
That’s the last thing he hears before the life quit his eyes, and the remaining compassion you had for any of your friends washes away.
