It feels right that after a year of no Owl House, TOH would give us one final, perfect gift in the form of another universe that captures everything we loved about the original, the beginning of a different yet similar story, one that will never be finished... But the potential, the endless horizons that come from any direction this other story could take, provides the basis for everlasting speculation and discussion and creation. And I think that's beautiful, a final gift encouraging us to take out our pencils and other tools and fill out the blanks and make our own stories with, just as Dana and the crew were inspired to make their own stories by watching other shows and often wanting to fill in the blanks themselves!

The Madrigal triplets embody the Fight, Flight and Freeze responses a little too perfectly.

Fight - Pepa

We see her under immense pressure to keep her feelings contained, but she is quick to snap when challenged. We see it whenever Alma calls out her inclement weather. She is quick to lash out at her niece who she clearly loves. There is so much she’s barely containing below the surface that it comes out quickly and aggressively when she gets triggered.

Flight - Bruno

This one seems the most obvious. Instead of taking a stance when he has the vision about Mirabel, he leaves. He flees the situation. It’s implied that the first time in his fifty years of life that he has ever confronted his mother directly was for the sake of his niece. His stairs got higher and his room got further away so he wouldn’t have to deal with the situations going on in the family. When Mirabel finds him in the walls, he is reluctant to leave.

Freeze - Julieta

I used to get frustrated with Julieta’s passivity before I started seeing her through the lens of trauma. Just because she seems to have everything together doesn’t mean she does, and she deserves the same level of understanding as her more turbulent siblings. I think there is evidence to support that Julieta’s trauma response is to freeze. For most of the movie, she stays quiet and in the background whenever her mother criticizes her daughter. She may have gotten conditioned over the years to just stand there and take it to avoid escalating a situation.

Real observations since I started wearing a wizard hat daily:

- Brim is so wide that I stay BONE DRY taking walks in the rain

- Brim can be positioned to block the sun from ever getting in my eyes AND keeping it off the back of my neck

- The pointed top part creates an air pocket, keeping my head from getting hot or squishing my hair as it might in a ball cap

- Hat can easily be pulled down over the tips of my ears without looking dumb, protecting them from wind chill

- Strangers say they like my hat, giving me the chance to tell them that I am a wizard

- When you’re wearing a wizard hat, ALL OTHER FASHION CHOICES become secondary, allowing you to branch out with style

Embrace ego death. Stay protected from all elements. Wear a wizard hat.

Spoilers for Watching and Dreaming!

After my fifth rewatch of this episode, I noticed a detail that maybe made me cry. Just a bit. As we all know at the start of the episode Luz, King, and Eda are all stuck in their worst nightmares due to the Collector. The one I want to focus on is Luz's dream.

Now I could rant a ton about this, the details the emotion, but I'll keep this to a minimum. Luz finds Amity first, and Amity starts to try and attack. Luz runs off and ends up with Willow, who is also aggressive and threatening. Then Gus, who passive aggressively attacks her. Then there is Hunter. Now this one is different. Hunter is simply broke down. But the main thing is when the rest of the group, Gus Willow and Amity, start to attack, Hunter does nothing. He simply stays crouched down on the floor, crying.

After thinking about it this means so much more than just he is simply sad. Luz's worst nightmares for each of her friends are exactly as the nightmare goes. She is afraid Amity, Gus, and Willow will feel betrayed and turn and fight against her. But with Hunter, she may be afraid of this, but she is more scared that he will break down, stop fighting. Luz is more scared that her brother will finally snap, than for him to attack her. Literally sobbing help 😭

I recently had surgery, and at the time I came home, I had both my cat and one of my grandma's cats staying with me.

- Within hours of surgery, I wake up from a nap to my cat gently sniffing at my incisions with great alarm.

- I was not allowed to shower the first day after surgery, and the cats, seeing that The Large Cat is not observing its cleaning ritual, decided I must be gravely disabled and compensated by licking all the exposed skin on my arms, face, and legs.

- I currently have to sleep with a pillow over my abdomen because my cat insists on climbing on top of me and covering my incisions with her body while I sleep (which is very sweet but not exactly comfortable without the pillow). She also lays across me facing my bedroom door, presumably on guard for attackers who may try to harm me while I'm sleeping and injured.

That's love. 🐈‍⬛🐈❤️

tbh the fact that cats purr was an unnecessary bonus we don’t always acknowledge. they’re already cute and baby and little and soft and make silly noises and do funny shit. but they also like to cuddle and make a soothing pleasant noise to indicate they are happy when they cuddle you? huge. huge for the human race.

Animal connection? Showed itself immediately. Being strong? Was obvious from the door, and would've become apparent anyways. I understand Bruno is considered superstitious so it might just be preference, but "Oh it looks like a prophetic gift? Obviously you have to have a circle of sand and burning leaves."
