Han Solo was Force Sensitive. When he said he had a bad feeling about certain situations even though there was no reason to suppose something bad was about to happen it was the Force. Ben Solo got it from both parents and no one can convince me otherwise.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Rey/Ben Solo Characters: Rey (Star Wars), Ben Solo Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Historical, Historical, 1930s, Alternate Universe - 1930s, Star Wars: The Last Jedi Throne Room Scene, Great Depression, Rey Needs A Hug (Star Wars), Soft Ben Solo, Ben Solo Needs A Hug, One Shot, for now, I may be persuaded to write more to this one, Mentions of WW1, vague mentions of prostitution, Falling In Love, Fluff, Reylo - Freeform Summary:
If you go and listen to the song "Joshua" by the one and only Dolly Parton, that's basically this story, I just added a few bits.
But seriously go listen to the song, it's great. Even if you don't really like country music, you'll see why I had to make a fic based on it. It is hands down the most Reylo song I've ever heard.

Good God, I cannot read coffee shop AU Reylo without getting violent flashbacks to my 6 years at Starbucks. I could write one, but it sure wouldn't be cute.

Ok but think about..
TROS Scene of Rey returning to the resistance, in background we hear Leia and Luke's voice united reciting:
"There is emotion;
there is peace."
Camera focuses on the people celebrating
"There is passion;
There is serenity."
Scene of destroyed Exegol, there's no one.
"There is no death; there is only the Force"
Shift to a forest planet, a tall clothed figure arrives carrying wood.
"A power over life itself. Unseen for generations."
Rey senses something in the force and goes visit the place where Leia disappeared.
"A power over..."
The voice changes, it's Ben's now.
"... life itself."
The camera turns around the figure and shows his face. He is in peace, half-smiles and breathes in the air like he is breathing their bond.
Camera focuses on Ben's eyes
"Two that are.."
Focus on Rey's teary eyes, she speaks:
"... one."

Ahhhh I love this
you know how, in the kiss scene, it looks like Rey is talking, but her dialogue has been muted? I’ve chosen to headcanon that she knew the weight of what Ben had done for her, and was tearfully telling him, “I’ll find you. No matter what, I’ll find you.”
Ben held on long enough for them to seal her vow with a kiss, and then he slipped into the Force at peace, knowing that he’d be gone for a week at most before his fierce, brave scavenger stormed in to bring him home.

There's a lot of art showing Ben and Rey watching the binary sunset together. While it's all beautiful, I humbly suggest an alternative.
I think Ben and Rey deserve to see the binary sunrise together. Not just because of the potential romantic implications (waggles eyebrows) but also because of what a sunrise represents. They're heading into the future together.
Bonus points if one gets up early enough to make the other breakfast. I honestly don't know which of the two is the morning person in this scenario.

Dipping my toes into the icy waters of Reylo discourse, here goes nothing.
The accusations that the Reylo ship is problematic never really bothered me. There seems to be a large, or at least loud, group of people who would like stories about good people who consistently make the right decision. If that's your thing, there is a great selection of 16th century morality plays out there. Don't worry, there are sound effects and bright costumes to help you follow along with the story.
Well constructed characters make bad decisions sometimes. Even if it's a choice you yourself wouldn't make, if the author has done their job, you can at least understand the characters reasoning. I understand that it takes a certain amount of empathy to do this, and that might represent a challenge to some.
I'm going to assume that if you're hanging out in the Reylo tag, you've also seen Marriage Story, cuz I know how y'all's' brains work. If you haven't, it's fantastic and I highly recommend it. Baumbach constructs his characters so meticulously that you will likely find your sympathies switching back and forth between Charlie and Nicole. There isn't a villain, unless you want to count the industry built around divorce, and both characters are worthy of your sympathy and judgement. Both characters make some really bad calls, but given the context of the story what they do makes sense. Someone who wants stories about good people who make good choices would be very frustrated by the opening scene of Marriage Story. The whole story hangs in the balance for a moment and if Nicole made a different choice, the "right" choice perhaps, the movie would cut to black at a total runtime of about two minutes.
One of my fundamental beliefs is that there are neither monsters nor saints, only people. Maybe it makes people uncomfortable to sympathize with a monster, but I would argue that it is important to be able to. It is dangerous to think that you are somehow incapable of making "monstrous" decisions. By thinking you are incapable of acting in an immoral way, you leave yourself open to justify any action. You reduce your thinking to the same level that many "monsters" have used throughout history.
Thank you if you read this far. I'm just a bored stay at home mom who's only connection to the outside world is, unfortunately, the internet.

I can't stop writing really soft fix-it fics. I love the beginnings of a relationship when two people are just starting to figure out what they mean to each other. Its phase that doesn't last very long at all. That's what I wanted to explore for Rey and Ben.

Ben: when I get murdered, make sure my case goes unsolved.
Rey: wait, what?
Ben: I want to be in buzzfeed unsolved.
Rey: can we go back to the “when I get murdered” part?
